Speaker 1 (04:39):
Welcome back, everybody. I'm Bob Lovel. This is Network Indiana's
Indiana Sports Talk Talks in high school football in the region. Tonight,
Penn beats South Bend, Washington sixty two nothing with me
from the regional radio sports network Tanner Camp Tanner, what
a great impressive win tonight for Penn over South Bend Washington.

Speaker 4 (05:03):
No, coach, it definitely was. I mean South and Washington
last week really shocked some people by being down only
six zero against Elkhart and then granted, Elkhart took just
took care of business with a thirty four to thirteen victory.
But a lot of people were expecting South and Washington
maybe put up a little bit more of a fight.
But coach Penn is real, they're playing some really good
football right now. And that goes to show you see
said the final sixty two zero, they were actually leading

(05:25):
thirty five zero after the first quarter. And again South
and Washington just had so much trouble on both sides
of the football offensively and defensively. I mean, for Penn,
they're starting quarterback Landing Hall only at four passes, but
he completed all four and still at one hundred and
eighteen yards as well as two scores. And then you
might recognize this last name, Vinnie and of course yes,
the son of the Notre Dame football head coach Marcus Freeman.

(05:48):
How about this coach two blocks punts and a fumble
return for forty yards. I mean, he's an absolute menace
on the field for Pete Reardan's group. And so with
this Penn team, coach, you're just some great football at
the right time. And as you said, a really good
sixty two zero victory against the washingteam that I do
still think is going to improve as the season goes on.

(06:08):
But for Penn, they stay undefeated and they get ready
for another big Northern Indiana Conference matchup next week.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
Who's that with? Next week?

Speaker 4 (06:17):
So they're going to go to Babbo Polski Field and
take on the mischellwalk and Mary Knights, who are going
to try to get some revenge as they fell against
their longtime rival the Sound of Saint Joseph Huskis. And
so this will be a really interesting matchup. But I'm
telling you, coach Pete reard and if you haven't gotten
a chance to see this team, the gold Rush offense
and the wild Bunch defense are some fun, fun football.
So I expect it to be a really good game

(06:38):
next week as they'll make the short drive to Mischewalka
Marion High School next week. Who comes up with those
catching names, you know, probably the great coaches throughout the
course of the many years who make it possible. Right,
So I tell you what with I like longtime coach
and so that's what it's all about. It's got great
catching names, great venues.

Speaker 5 (06:57):
To go to.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
Yeah, absolutely I like them. Tanner Camp from the Regional
Radio Sports Network, Thanks a lot, Tanner, I appreciate it.

Speaker 4 (07:06):
Have a great night, Coach has always one of my
favorite parts of Friday Nights and as always looking forward
to the rest of the show. Thank you as always
for what you do for high school.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
For thanks for the coin words, Thank you staying with
the Regional Radio Sports Network South Been Saint Joe shuts
out Mischa Walker Marian thirty one to nothing tonight from
the Regional Radio Sports Network JP. Jo Beart JP thanks
to the call an overwhelming win for a really town
is Saint Joe team tonight.

Speaker 6 (07:32):
Well, this is a Saint Joe team that last year
really didn't have its identity, especially in the Holy War
game going over to a Tulski field. As my broadcast
partner Tanner Camp just mentioned, Otolski is a very tough
place to play. Saint Joe found that out last year
in losing twenty seven to nothing. But I'll tell you
what these Huskies are for real. They came in with

(07:54):
a chip on their shoulder. Their defense has been outstanding.
They had two safeties tonight, which you rarely hear at
any level of the game. They held Marion too minus
six yards of total offense in the first half alone,
only had seventy seven allowed. If there was any bad
point that coach Ben Downey wants to shore up, it's

(08:17):
the penalties. They took eight penalties for ninety yards, but
still a very dominating performance. And they're now four and
over the first time since twenty fourteen, and they get
set to go up against a South Then Adams squad
who's young and hungary. They gave Marion a good game
a couple of weeks or last week, and if the
Huskies aren't in full stride, they could get caught by Adams.

(08:40):
But this was a dominating performance from start to finish.
They rushed for two hundred and eighty four yards of
the team and this is the team that's going to
be really starting to get its identity now as they
look for a couple of big heavyweights at Penn and
Eltcart's the future.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
The set you know what sometimes jp when you get
in one of these right more games like this and
the emotion is so high that you know, sometimes you know,
you get down early and it gets really hard to
come back. And you know, I think that's in large
part a lot of what went on tonight.

Speaker 6 (09:13):
Yeah, it was. And there was a couple of extracurriculum
things after the whistle. Sure, Mike Davidson from Marion and
Ben Downey of Saint Joe are gonna want to clean
that up. And I'll tell you what. The score might
have been thirty one to nothing, and Saint Joe might
have out gained Marian by a ton but I'll tell
you what, Mike Davidson's kids did not give up, and

(09:34):
they showed a lot of heart throughout the contest. They're
gonna have a tough They're gonna have their hands full
next week when they take on the Penn Kingsman is
uh as Tanner Camp had alluded to earlier. So they're
gonna have a tough week of practice to get ready
for the Kingsman, while Saint Joe, like I said, gets
ready for a short jaunt. I'll say over the cool

(09:54):
field and there's only a couple of blocks away.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
JP's Joe Bear from the Regional Radio Sports Network on
the big Battle in South Bend Tonice South Bend, Saint
Joe wins thirty one to nothing over Michell Walker Marian.
Thank you so much, JP, have a great weekend.

Speaker 6 (10:13):
Coach, great talking to you as always, and thanks for
what you do for high school football.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
Thanks for the compliment, I appreciate it. Thanks for the
kind words. Coming up. Good school board update. This is
Network Indiana's Indiana Sports Sunk.

Speaker 2 (10:29):

Thirteenth Louisville Trinity gets a massive fifty five to seventeen
win over third ranked Carmel. Number four ranked Lawrence North

(10:50):
gets a fifty five to twenty one win over North Central.
Number ten Fishers upsets Number five ranked Hamilton Southeastern twenty
eight to sixteen. Number sixth ranked the New Palacine shuts
out Mount Vernon Fortville seventy one to nothing. Looking down
my listener number nine Cathedral barely eeks by number eleventh
ranks Bishop Tatard twenty three to twenty or twelfth ranked

(11:10):
Warren Central gets a thirty one to twenty one win
over fourteenth rank to Lawrence Central. Sixteenth ranked East Central
gets a thirty five to fourteen win over Franklin County.
Seventeenth Franklin Central gets a twenty sixteen win over Zionsville.
Bishop Dwanger upsets eighteenthran Carrol Fort Wayne nine to six.

Perry Meridian. East Noble gets a twenty one to fourteen

forty two to fourteen win over Marian and finally, Indian
Creek shuts out Beach Grove forty two to nothing for
never gain the sports Alemanicicuns.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
Welcome back everyone on Bob Lovel. This is Network Indiana's
Indiana Sports Talk, brought to you by Indiana Donor Network.
High school football tonight, for the first time in school history,
Switzerland County beats Mile in twenty one fourteen with me
Switzerland County's head coach, Ryan jessep coach. I've done this
show for thirty one years. I'm seventy four years old,

(12:35):
and more people than you can count ask me why
I keep doing what I do And the reason one
of the major reasons I do it is for calls
just like yours. Because on the biggest night of your career,
you took the time to call our show and talk
to us. Why would I not get excited about doing that.

Speaker 7 (12:56):
Well, we always appreciate the covers.

Speaker 8 (12:58):
But victory, you know, like this is historical for the skis.
I told him, you know it is a mile and
monkey that is now off our back.

Speaker 1 (13:08):
Well, you know it's great and I know going in.
I'm sure the discussions all week, people are bringing up
yeah we've never beaten them, on and on and on,
and at some point I'm sure get a little bit tired.
Just hey, let's just go play. Let's get better. It's
week number four. We're trying to get better as a
football team. All of those things, all that coach talk,

(13:29):
but yeah, you really wanted to win and get that
gorilla off your back.

Speaker 5 (13:35):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (13:35):
Absolutely.

Speaker 8 (13:36):
Coach Langerman has got a quality program and he's you know,
done a fantastic job at Mylin. And you know we've
tried to model ourselves with the Little League on up,
you know, with scaffolding everything.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
Sure, you know, for.

Speaker 8 (13:48):
All those pure football people, we did this in a
flexbone wishbone offense tonight and the Hogs.

Speaker 1 (13:53):
Up front right having the ball.

Speaker 8 (13:55):
I think we passed maybe three times all night. So
as all credit goes to the coach staff and all
the kids and fans that believe in us for years.

Speaker 1 (14:04):
Well, you know what the great thing is is you've
got buy in from your kids. You know, you've you've
done great things with them. You've got a bunch of
kids who you know they believed and continue to believe. Uh,
and it's just a the I think the big key
is a good win over a good team.

Speaker 8 (14:21):
Yeah. Absolutely. I mean when we started the program from
scratch in twenty thirteen at the freshman level and moved
up a little bit too quickly into the TV and
varsity after a few years, it was, you know, we
didn't have any little league kids. We had there's no
field experience. I mean, heck, short of putting your helmet
on backwards. The kids were rand new to the game.
And uh, you know, to have those have those kids,

(14:43):
you know, stick it out and the culture see it grow.
It's you know, this is a giant set for our program.
And you know, hats off to the fans, and we're
looking forward to getting back to Switzerland County and celebrating.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
I would too. All right, one possession win, how do
you do it?

Speaker 7 (14:59):
We did it up front.

Speaker 8 (15:00):
I mean, honestly, the the big guys that we have
up front, they moved the ball and we made some adjustments.
We got a great, you know, old line coach in
Adam Pichakowski, and he was he's up there spoting from
above and made some made some calls, and our offensive
coordinator did a fantastic job, kind of sticking with it
and just the you know, those little minor tweaks here
and there with some eyes in the sky make a

(15:22):
tremendous difference. And you know, we just broke off the
big runs. I mean we had to probably sixty seventy
five yard runs, you know, to win to win the game,
and put it away to tie the game, and then
to win the game.

Speaker 1 (15:34):
Right, So who scores the game winner and how much
time's left?

Speaker 8 (15:40):
I believe it was Covin Beck.

Speaker 7 (15:41):
Was Covin Beck?

Speaker 5 (15:42):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (15:42):
I got to ask one of my coaches because I
was too into the game to pay attention that card.
So I believe it was Covin Beck. He's a senior,
he's a stud. I mean, he's a six foot two
oh five powerful runner, and he broke freeze. Also a
sectional champion hurdler, and he's a prospect. Him and Matt
Young Young get the same thing. I believe that we
score with.

Speaker 7 (16:02):
About what under four minutes left?

Speaker 8 (16:04):
Yeah, we scored with under four man's left. Had to
make a stop on defense and then get grind out
some first downs.

Speaker 7 (16:09):
To steal the victory.

Speaker 1 (16:12):
Switzerland County Tonight, twenty one fourteen winners over miland first
time in school history that Switzerland County has beaten Miland
Ryan Jessup, thank you so much for sharing the excitement.
Best of luck to you and your kids and you
enjoy the celebration. You certainly deserve it.

Speaker 8 (16:28):
Thank you so much as always for the coverage, and
we look forward to giving you a call next week
when we do it again.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
I look forward to that too. Chris Norton joins me
from w it Z and Jasper. The Wildcats beat Evansville
VOSSI tonight sixty three nothing the final Chris, thanks for
the call. Obviously an outstanding night to be a Wildcat.

Speaker 9 (16:50):
You know what, it was one of the most prolific
offensively played games with the Wildcats I've seen in my
three forty years here. Caton Ramos takes the opening snap
a handoff for fifty six yards. Jack Levin from that
point on six yards into the end zone, and Coach
Jasper scored touchdowns of five of their first nine offensive plays.

(17:12):
It was tactical, thirty five zero lead at the end
of the first quarter, and it's against the bosson team
numbers are down, a lot of kids playing for the
love of the game, happy to be out there, but
jasper flexing their muscle tonight, and you can see the
strives they've made offensively, defensively, special teams. Last week, a
big win over a ranked rights opponent, and tonight coming

(17:32):
out and doing what you would hope they would do.
Quarterback Jalen maynards six of six passing and in the
game with three touchdowns of his own. Multiple touchdown games
for Jack Levin back at Holsworth, got some seniors, some touches,
Sam Allen a senior first career touchdown, So across the board.

Speaker 10 (17:48):
A strong knight for the.

Speaker 9 (17:49):
Wildcats in ramping up to a matchup next week against
Modern Day at the Rights goal.

Speaker 1 (17:56):
Well, it doesn't get any easier, big, you know, a
lot of emotion and in these games with that question,
but that this one, I'm sure was kind of unexpected
in terms of the points spread tonight.

Speaker 9 (18:06):
Chris, Yeah, you know, and I think on paper, the
Wildcats you would, would be the better team, and I
don't think we'll see too much argument with that. But traditionally,
you know, last year, a couple of years ago, actually
an effectional game of the fifty six thirty four. Now,
a lot of that was Elijah Wagner scrambling quarterback for Bosci.

Speaker 10 (18:25):
But we've not.

Speaker 9 (18:26):
Seen this kind of points spread in and some of
it was due to you know, you get the quick
strike touchdown about a minute into the game. First offensive
play for Bossy fumbled handoff, Jass forgets it, scores two
plays later. So it was partially game script and.

Speaker 10 (18:41):
The thing getting off the rails early run. But resident
everything went.

Speaker 9 (18:45):
For the Wildcats did everything they asked for them to do,
got a lot of them very excuse me losing the
word here, but important rats for.

Speaker 10 (18:55):
Some of the backups years tonight, just because.

Speaker 9 (18:59):
You know, don't have many opportunities to get those guys
in the game right the course of nine weeks, so
building for that late season charge.

Speaker 1 (19:07):
Chris Norton from Wiz and Jasper. When we started this
thirty two years ago, first station to come on board. Witz, Chris,
you know this. You've worked on the show for years.

Speaker 10 (19:22):
You know this.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
There's no show without Witz, and I am enormously thankful
that you guys did it.

Speaker 10 (19:29):
We're glad to be a part of it, Glad to continue.

Speaker 1 (19:32):
Thanks Chris, enjoy the night, Thank you so much. Blake
Marath from Indian high school sports dot Com tonight on
the call of Yorktown's forty five seven went over Delta Blake,
I apologize for possibly mispronouncing your name, but thank you
for calling.

Speaker 11 (19:50):
Don't you worry. I'm a little bit used to it
at this point, but certainly a heck of a game
by the Yorktown Tigers and this big rivalry against the
Delta Eagles. Roared out electric for the Eagles. They got
a kick return touchdown to open up the game on
the opening play, took a seven to nothing lead. The
crowd was into it, and then after that it was
really all Yorktown from then on. Quarterback Sam Tokar, after

(20:14):
having something of a rough game last week against newpal
was able to come out and really carve up the defense.
The run game was efficient, the pass game did a
good job. It really all started after an errant snap
on a punt that gave the Tigers two points, gave
him a safety, and after that the route was on.
It ended up being a seventeen to seven game at

(20:34):
the break after a missfield goal, and you know, despite
how dominant Yorktown hadvent it was still a ten point game.
And I talked with Jesse Lee, my fellow commentator at
the half about how Yorktown was dominated, but you know,
the Eagles of Delta had hung on. But that evidently
something was set in that.

Speaker 6 (20:52):
Locker room for yourk Town because after that.

Speaker 11 (20:55):
The route was really odd, nothing but touchdowns. After that
fortunate play by quarterback Deacon Blevins of Delta losing the
ball when he was doing a pump fake and ended
up giving the ball back to Yorktown after they had
already scored on the opening drive of the second half,
and from then on it was nothing but domination by Yorktown.

(21:17):
They end up winning the game of forty five to
seven with forty five unanswered points and the Tigers moved
to three and one. They bounced back from the win
again as a loss against newpal last week the Delta
Eagles they fall to one and three. They had gotten
their first win last week against the Shelbyville the first
win under new first year at coach Billy Lynch, but

(21:38):
they followed to one and three and the twenty first
year head coach Mike Wilhelm has another big win in
this rivalry.

Speaker 1 (21:45):
Great job tonight by Yorktown. Forty five seven winners over Delta.
From the Indian High Schools Sports dot Com, Blake Marath
joins me. Blake, thank you so much. I have a
fantastic weekend you two.

Speaker 10 (22:00):
Thank you very much for having me welcome.

Speaker 1 (22:01):
Thanks very much. Coming up scoreboard update with the Busiest
man you know, Landon Coons. This is Indiana Sports Talk.

Speaker 1 (23:59):
Welcome back, he everyone, This is Indiana Sports Talk Tonight.
We had a dramatic end at the Washington and Princeton matchup.
Washington beat Princeton thirty eight thirty five game winning field
goal from the ISC Sports Network. The best at what
he does, Greg Rigstrow. Greg, what a way to end

(24:21):
a football game?

Speaker 6 (24:23):
It was? And I think I'm pretty good at telling
the story. But would you like to talk to the
winning head coach and Joe Morris instead of me? At
least at first.

Speaker 1 (24:30):
Well, you know what, I love both of you, and
you are my broadcast partner, but I would love to
come talk to coach Morris if you don't mind putting
him on. I promise you you and I will chat. Okay, Well,
you go.

Speaker 12 (24:45):
Ahead, Thanks much. I appreciate the kind words.

Speaker 1 (24:49):
Well, you're you are, you are understandably excited. Big rivalry game,
big matchup? Is this game close all night long?

Speaker 12 (24:58):
Well pretty close? But you know so anytime you have
a divisional conference game, right, homecoming and homecoming means a
lot of Washington. You know, we have the traditional homecoming parade.
We represent all of our kids and our youth programs,
no matter what the program is, right, and it's a
great celebration in Washington. Very few communities have a homecoming
parade anymore. And I'm just glad that I'm back home.

(25:19):
What we can enjoy it on the homecoming day?

Speaker 1 (25:22):
Do you know who won the queen contest?

Speaker 12 (25:25):
No, but I can tell you some things we need
to clean up. You want to get into that segment I.

Speaker 1 (25:30):
Just asked as the father of a homecoming queen, so well.

Speaker 12 (25:34):
I'm a girl dad too. But one thing that's special
is that just the way you guys cover this stuff.
And I appreciate you.

Speaker 1 (25:40):
Well, you're very kind. I appreciate that. All right, tell
me how you win this ball game.

Speaker 5 (25:46):
I think it.

Speaker 12 (25:47):
Starts first with when you look at the makeup of
the team. Simply put, we've got seventeen seniors. It means
a lot to them. We're you know, we're rolling a
little different with some personnel that we didn't know that
we were going to and those guys are really stepping
up and I think it first starts with the guys
up front, our offensive line, and are you know what
they can make us do and help us do. But

(26:09):
our running back room has really grown, not only as
football players but just people, and they're battling. So when
you have the run game, it starts for us. This year,
the run game, we've had the luxury in the will
throw it around a little bit with Colden Stowers, but
due to graduation, we had to go with a different concept.
And we got some kids that have you.

Speaker 10 (26:26):
Know, achieved on the local level.

Speaker 12 (26:27):
But to put us in this position now we're gonna
be successful for a successful running football all.

Speaker 1 (26:33):
Right, So game winner at the horn, tell me who
kicks it?

Speaker 5 (26:38):
It's a great kid.

Speaker 12 (26:40):
The excellent student athlete named Carter Browning is sophomore. I
promise you'll hear his name more. We have a great conference,
as you know, and there's a senior in our conference.
It's you know, been excellent down Harri and Chills for years.
But I promise you Carter Browning is gonna be the
kid you guys are gonna hear about in the kicking world.
He's worked really hard and year.

Speaker 10 (27:00):
He's a guy who had six steel goals for us.

Speaker 12 (27:02):
I think twenty eight pats, you know this year. I
believe tonight he had three for us. But you know
last week, you know, due to taking away a penalty,
he could have had another one in a couple of weeks. Anyway,
it was a soft Forridge game. But here's a kid
that we can count on. You know, he's he's a
guy that's got kind of some ice in his veins.

(27:22):
He loved the opportunity and it sure helps us because
we haven't had that luxury in the past where you
got all three phases of the game covered in that sense,
especially having a good kicker.

Speaker 1 (27:32):
How far is the field goal to win seven?

Speaker 13 (27:37):
Now?

Speaker 6 (27:38):
I think it's Joe Spotter.

Speaker 1 (27:39):
Coach, all right, brother, I got it. Coach. Congratulations. I
appreciate you taking time to talk to me after a
big night. I wish you and your guys the best.

Speaker 10 (27:49):
Thank you, coach.

Speaker 12 (27:49):
I appreciate you.

Speaker 1 (27:50):
Thank you very much. Thank you, Greg. Greg Straw, tell
me about it. Were you excited on that game winner?

Speaker 6 (27:57):
That was a great It was first of all, is
a great game. You know, these are schools that are
trying to, you know, build a football tradition. They have
alternated wins over the course of the last six years,
and that was, you know, kind of in favor of
for insident. That trend continued. But I love the heart
and the grit that was shown by Joe's team. You know,
they get down twenty eight to seventeen, they give up
an eighty one yard pick six to get down twenty

(28:20):
eight to seventeen. They immediately then score the next time
down the field and do so kind of in quick
fashion to make it a one score game. They then
give up an eighty yard touchdown on the first play
of the next drive to a young man we should
talk more about in Carwin Pope, Bob. He in four
games he's got over seven hundred yards rushing. He tonight

(28:41):
had ten carries for two hundred and twelve yards and
three scores. He has scored nine times in the first
four games of the season. You know, Miles McLoughlin's going
a lot of attention from Knox, as he rightly should.
But this young man deserves to have some attention statewide
as well. But at that point, Bob, at thirty five
twenty five, why should have three more times? They scored

(29:02):
three more times? And I said this in terms of
our postgame show. You know there are teams that will
go an entire year without actempting four field goals. Washington
did that today. And when you've got that level of confidence,
bright sophomore kicker to win the game for you, that's
like the weapon that Joe has it as arsenal.

Speaker 1 (29:20):
Absolutely fun night down in Washington tonight. Everybody, Washington, Princeton,
Washington and Princeton. Tonight, Washington wins this one thirty eight
thirty five field goal at the horn. Greg rag Straw,
great to talk to you. Are we talking tomorrow night?
Are you busy?

Speaker 6 (29:40):
We are talking tomorrow night. We're all It's fall, buddy,
I'm working every night. I'll call you tomorrow night.

Speaker 1 (29:46):
Drive safely. Thanks for the call.

Speaker 6 (29:48):
You got it.

Speaker 1 (29:50):
High school football tonight, Plainfield forty one six winners over
Perry Meridian. Tyler Bless, the head coach of the Quakers
joins me. Coach, thanks so much for the call. Congrat
relations on a solid win tonight.

Speaker 5 (30:02):
Thanks Bob. Yeah, it was a great team victory. It
was a great home crowd. We honored our youth football teams.
Good uh here at Plainfield, and we're able to come
away with a win, so a lot to be thankful for, all.

Speaker 1 (30:16):
Right, coach. Back in the day, when I was in school,
Uh I, I refereed every every Saturday morning. I refereed
youth football after playing the night before, and you know,
just part of it. You got to go out there
and do what you're supposed to do. You've got a great,
great program, great foundation, all of that. Ranked number five

(30:41):
in four a pretty solid win. So tell me how
you're able to do this tonight.

Speaker 5 (30:47):
Yeah, uh really was. I would say it was a
team effort. We we had a great job the first
half of that kind of spreading the ball out and
running and throwing it. I think our first touchdown was
a was a pass off to Mason Bears and then
you know, our senior running back Luke Starns was able
to kind of have a couple fin moves and ended

(31:07):
up in the end zone, had a nice you know
touchdown right there before. Have to take a twenty one
zer lead at halftime, and then we're able to you know,
kind of continue some success in the second half. Zener
and a Tom scored, Austin Ward scored, and Blake Larson
got a defensive interception for a touchdown, which is always

(31:28):
nice to see a defensive guy, you know, end up
in the end zone.

Speaker 1 (31:32):
Who's up next week, coach, Yeah.

Speaker 5 (31:34):
It's homecoming, so if you are not busy, we'll make
it a grand marshal or the homecoming parade. But we
are home. We're home next week against Greenwood. So looking
forward to again. Just another opportunity to go out and
play the greatest game that's ever been made.

Speaker 1 (31:52):
It's homecoming next week. That was homecoming next week. Man,
only my wife the most stunning thing in our lives
back in the day and playfieldsmim, you couldn't be You
couldn't be part of the homecoming. You weren't up for queen.
If you were a cheerleader, they wouldn't let you do it.

(32:12):
So my wife was never nominated. And then to show
you how beautiful my wife is, our daughter was homecoming
queen of Franklin Community High School and that's one of
her big regrets. And I don't blame her. Just didn't
seem to be right. So good luck to the Quakes
and homecoming next week. I appreciate the call.

Speaker 5 (32:29):
Coach, Thanks Bob Heil to the varsity.

Speaker 1 (32:32):
Hail to the varsity.

Speaker 6 (32:33):
My brother.

Speaker 1 (32:33):
Absolutely. Oh yeah, Darren Fisher joins me, the head coach
at Whiteland. Whiteland beats Franklin tonight twenty one to fourteen. Coach, congratulations,
you and I haven't talked for a while. I'm worried
about you.

Speaker 7 (32:47):
Yeah, you know, I'm sure you remind your wife that
she is the homecoming queen on a daily basis right now.

Speaker 1 (32:53):
There's no listen. She's a stunningly beautiful woman. Are you
kidding me? I'm one of those guys who now im
that you do that I do. I outkicked my I
out kicked my coverage many many years ago.

Speaker 7 (33:07):
I am right there with you.

Speaker 14 (33:10):
I'm right there with you.

Speaker 1 (33:11):
Well you had to, you know.

Speaker 5 (33:14):
I'll tell you what tonight was.

Speaker 1 (33:18):
Night was a Hey coach, coach, Hey coach, hang on,
We're about ready to go into a school board update.
I want you to hang on through this school board
update and we'll come back and you can tell me
how you win this game. Okay, gotcha, perfect. We'll come
back with coach Darren Fisher. We'll talk with Andrew Smith
about New Palace, big win over Mount Vernon, plus much

(33:38):
more football to come after the school board update on
Indiana Sports Talk.

Speaker 2 (33:43):
Week four of Indiana high school football continues. How about
this an overtime win for Evansville Memorial getting a twenty
eight to twenty one win over Modern Day Castle shuts
out Avazel Harrison forty three to nothing. Hontingson North twenty
one to fourteen over Columbia City Pack shuts out for
forty eight nothing, Indian Creek shuts out Beach Grove.

Speaker 3 (34:02):
Forty two, zip found.

Speaker 2 (34:04):
Central forty to twelve over Covington Danville eeks by Hamilton
Heights twenty seven to twenty four. Shrire West dominates Speedway
by final score of sixty three to twenty one eleven
and forty two to fourteen over Marion. Cascade gets a
sixty three to twenty eight win over North Montgomery. North
Putdam fifty seven to twenty three over Crawfordsville.

Speaker 3 (34:23):
How about this coach.

Speaker 2 (34:24):
Westernmoon seventy six to thirty four over Greencastle. Westernboon gets
that win. South Wontin shuts out Frankfurt fifty seven to nothing.
Twenty fifth ranked East Noble twenty one to fourteen over
decalb ron Kyley getting a forty one to twenty win
over Columbus North Plainfield forty one to six over Perry Meridian,
blooming The Battle of the Bloomingtons. Bloomington South and Bloomington

(34:46):
North South gets the thirty six to seven went over
North Decatur Central seventy five to six over Martinsville Penn
shuts out South Bend, Washington sixty two to nothing. Bishop
Twanger eaks by Carol Fort Wayne nine to six. Franklin
Central twenty to six, sixteen over Zionsville. East Central gets
a thirty five to fourteen win over Franklin County. Warren
Central thirty one to twenty one over lauren See. Warren

(35:08):
Central gets a thirty one to twenty one went over
Lawrence Central Cathedral twenty three to twenty over Bishop Shatard
Crown Point shuts out Lake Central forty two nothing. Westfield
gets a forty one to seven win over Noblesville, New Powell.
How about this shutting out Mount Vernon Fortville seventy one
to nothing and Fisher's upsets Hamilton Southeast FN Twenty eight
to sixteen.

Speaker 1 (35:28):
Back everyone Darren Fisher from Whiteland rejoins this. Whiteland beats
Franklin twenty one to fourteen. Tonight Darren. My cubs are
pretty good. Chris's teams have played everybody tough, played everybody close,
and I'm not surprised that this game ends up in
a one possession win for you.

Speaker 7 (35:48):
Yeah, you know, I'm gonna start with the end fourth
and bowl at the three yard line. We were able
to stop them going in. I'll go back, I'll go backwards.
It was we came out and started fast. We got
a turnour interception by Eli Taylor on the first drive,
went down and pounded it in Jordan Palmer. Were up
seven to nothing. And then at that point, you know

(36:09):
they're they're pretty good on defense, and uh, you know,
they were able to take a fourteen to seven lead
going into the half, and it was their ball coming out.
And you know, I tell you two things happened. Our
our special teams were phenomenal. Uh today, Eli's air and
our punt team. He's our punter and the rest of
our punting ted Lampson, our special team's coordinators doing such
a good job. We made play after play after play

(36:32):
on special teams. But we ended up so did Franklin.
We ended up inside the ten yard Three of our
drives started inside our own five yard line and over
hunt team got and our you know, we practiced that
situation quite a bit, and our punt team was able
to get us out in a in a you know,
a tight punt formation, and Eli's air was able to
punt the ball out of there, and uh uh it

(36:54):
was really good. So finally in the fourth quarter we
went and drove down and won the game. Then we
forced to turn over, drove the three yard line and
got a holding call and Franklin got a stop and
they got the ball back, and like I said, they drove,
you know, they drove eighty five yards to get down
there to the three. But our defense, Jordan Palmer and
Eli Taylor came up with a big play on fourth

(37:16):
and goal, and you know we were able to We
had to take the ball at the one yard line
and run one run, one more play inside our own five.
So that made the fourth drive that started insight. So
it was a special teams field position back right, really good,
really good defense on both sides. You know, we just
kind of made one more play and that's really how.

Speaker 1 (37:35):
A game ended tonight. Big win for Whiteland twenty one
to fourteen winners over Franklin Community darn Fisher. Thanks to
the call. Congratulations to you and your guys, and good
luck next week.

Speaker 7 (37:49):
Appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (37:49):
Thanks sir, Thank you. Let's talk to Bill Peebles, the
head coach at Cathedral High School. Cathedral beat Star twenty
three to twenty tonight in one of the classics for
those two powerhouses. Coach, thanks so much for the call.
Congratulations on a tremendous win tonight.

Speaker 14 (38:06):
Thanks Bob see uh to say is a class This
was a classic. It was a hard game, hard hitting defense,
special teams, uh, timely plays on offense. Is a great
win for us. She starts really good team. Coach Gill
is doing a great job. They've got a really good
for a football team and we're fortunate to come out

(38:27):
with win.

Speaker 1 (38:27):
Yours is not a bad team yourself, but but you're right.
This is for those who don't know. This is a
big rivalry game, big time rivalry game. Where'd you play
this game tonight?

Speaker 5 (38:39):
We played at Butler.

Speaker 14 (38:40):
We had about five thousand people there. It was an
electric atmosphere, right, and you couldn't hear I.

Speaker 10 (38:48):
Mean it was loud.

Speaker 14 (38:49):
Uh, it was. It was like playing in a college environment.
It was was really fun. And uh, you know our
kids who you know it was. It was just especial night,
you know it was. And it ended in a special
way too.

Speaker 6 (39:01):
It was the heck of the game, all right.

Speaker 1 (39:03):
So just let's cut to the chase, then tell me
how you win it.

Speaker 14 (39:08):
So we get down thirteen to nothing, have a couple
of penalties that extended their drives. They jump up on
us thirteen to nothing. We come back before half, kick
a field goal before half is thirteen to three, and
we control the ball after the halftime and call back
in the game. And it was a special teams game.
Our field goal kicker Van Chris Loff had three field

(39:28):
goals and he had the game winner with a forty
six yarder with nine seconds left to go in the
game to win the game. And we blocked a punt
with fifty six seconds to go in the game to
put us in field goal range. So it was it
was just a back and forth, tough, hard hitting old

(39:49):
Cyo Catholic football band.

Speaker 1 (39:53):
Yeah, you've had you've been involved in many of them,
but this one is right near the top in terms
of excitement tonight.

Speaker 7 (40:01):
It was.

Speaker 14 (40:01):
It's great, great for the fans.

Speaker 1 (40:03):
Cathedral over Shitar tonight, twenty three, twenty Bill Peebles, thanks
for the call, coach. Good luck next week, Thanks Bob,
coming out, we'll talk about IU talk some more high
school football. This is Indiana Sports Talk. Welcome back, everybody.
I'm Bob Lovel. This is Indiana Sports Talk. IU overwhelms
Indiana State tonight with me to talk about it from

(40:24):
the IU network, our good friend John Herrick. John, this
is an impressive win for IU. Everything they did was
pretty much pretty wonderful for them tonight.

Speaker 13 (40:37):
Yeah, Wise, Bob, you know, always special when Indiana gets
to play Indiana State because Kurt Mallory is the coach
of the Duenna State the son of the late IU
football coach Bill Mallory. There were a lot of guys
from the nineteen ninety era Bowl teams that co played
for Bill Mallory that got honored tonight. But and again
this is this new age of IYU football. They needed

(40:59):
to come in Coach kurtz Signette. He said all week
long that he was going to learn about his team
a lot more about his team and how much maturity
and boys they had. I don't think he loved the
six penalties, but I think beyond that This was a
team that showed great maturity and poise all throughout the game.
For most of the game, the Indiana State offense didn't
even have a first down, so that's that shows you

(41:22):
how dominant they were on both sides of the ball.
Laurence North graduate Omar Cooper was phenomenal tonight, had four
receiving touchdowns, so it was great to see him shine.
And then both Mendoza brothers, Fernando and Alberto got to
got to play and throw touchdown passes. So pretty pretty
hard to top that one.

Speaker 1 (41:44):
Pretty hard to top that one. And you know, hopefully
the type of game that you can grow and build
on as you get into conference play and your opener
happens to get happens to be against the number nine
university Illinois Welling a line from Illinois that's a heck
of a starter.

Speaker 13 (42:03):
Sure is, and it's been circled on everybody's calendar. It's
a sellout. It's going to be a huge Rockets atmosphere.
Illinois is proving that they're even better than I thought
they would be. But Indiana is also really starting to
round in the form they've been preparing for this game,
and knowing that it's coming up, and they needed to
put together a good performance tonight and not look past
this game.

Speaker 10 (42:24):
Clearly they didn't.

Speaker 13 (42:25):
Clearly, they did not look past their opponent and had
their largest shutout and IU football history since nineteen oh one.
So they took care of business and they set themselves
up well for next week. So we'll see what next
week has in store.

Speaker 1 (42:39):
John Eric from the IU Sports Network. You beats Indiana
State tonight, taking on Illinois next week, John, I appreciate
the call. Be safe, all right, thank you, coach, Thank you.
New pal wins tonight, very impressive wins seventy one to
nothing over Mountain Vernon with me from the New Palestine
Network Andrew Smith. Andrew, what an impressive win tonight for

(43:03):
the Dragons.

Speaker 15 (43:05):
Yeah, the sixty seventh meeting between the Dragons and Marauders,
and this is the biggest win by either team in
the series. And newpal basically only played the starters quarter
and a half tonight because they got to flipping the
scoreboard very quickly. They scored on their first drive, took
eight plays for Kaden Jacobia to run it in from
thirty two yards out, and then all of a sudden,

(43:27):
it was a lot of points, very very quickly. On
Mount Vernon's second offensive play, Garrett Rains had a fifteen
yard pick six and from there, Newpal's touchdown drives in
the first half were three, one, two, three, and three
yards and it was just big play after big play.
Mount Vernon's rebuilding a little bit, and they're missing a

(43:48):
lot of starters as well. And so you've got Hey,
Andre Veterany, Andrew, Hey, Andrew.

Speaker 1 (43:55):
Hang on here through the scoreboard, up man, Can you
do that? I can do that perfect. We're back on
Indiana Sports Talk.

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
