learned by purduing their loss to USC you can't make.

Speaker 4 (03:29):
Mistakes against a fifteam like we did and expect to win,
so we've.

Speaker 5 (03:33):
Got to create turnovers on defense.

Speaker 6 (03:37):
We can't give away three scoring opportunities in the red zone.

Speaker 7 (03:42):
And when you do.

Speaker 8 (03:43):
Those things, you go make it really, really difficult to
play winning football.

Speaker 6 (03:46):
And that's that's kind of where we were at the
other night.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
On the flip side, Marcus Freeman's Irish still number twenty
four on the land but win less. Freeman talk this
week about what it takes to make winning plays.

Speaker 9 (03:57):
The difference between winning and losing versus good teams is
consistency when it matters the most. We got to make
the play.

Speaker 5 (04:03):
I mean, we've got to do our.

Speaker 9 (04:04):
Job and execute. That's the difference. When two really good
teams play each other, it's who can be most consistent.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
Again, A three point thirty kickoff in South ben as
for from Bloomington seven thirty, number nine Illinois, number nineteen Indiana.
Kirk Signetti on what impresses him about the Alina.

Speaker 7 (04:22):
They do a nice job of disguising coverage, got some
nice disguises.

Speaker 10 (04:26):
They play a lot of guys, got a lot of
good players run to the ball, get a lot of
hats to the football.

Speaker 7 (04:32):
You know, good pressure on the.

Speaker 11 (04:33):
Quarterback type coverage really tied together well with good players.

Speaker 3 (04:38):

Speaker 12 (04:58):
In the end, I would I get these and see
I appeared to be doing good at my school life,
but if you would see me at home, it would
have been a completely different story.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
I mean, it was just rough focusing on school. When
your mother live, somebody you have to take care of.

Speaker 5 (05:16):
It just got worse and worse and worse throughout the years.

Speaker 13 (05:20):
There are students who need somebody.

Speaker 5 (05:23):
They can trust someone and it could be the first
person they've ever trusted in their life.

Speaker 13 (05:29):
Communities and schools is lowering America's drop out rate by
helping more than one point three million kids every year
get whatever they need to succeed in school.

Speaker 14 (05:37):
If something was going on at home, we would go
just stop buying somebody's office and talk to her.

Speaker 12 (05:42):
Communities and schools vouch for me when everyone else had
lost hope.

Speaker 13 (05:46):
You can help change the picture of education right here
in your community and across the nation. Visit communities in

Speaker 12 (05:54):
I hear people say we can't save every kid, but
I think that we can.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
Welcome back everyone. This is Network Indiana's Indiana's Sports Talk,
brought to you by Indiana Donor Network. High school football tonight,
Warren Central beats Ben Davis, battle of two really solid
football teams. Greg Rakestraw from the ISC Sports Network has
the call of this game. Greg, longtime rivalry to storied programs,

(06:29):
not surprisingly a one score football game tonight.

Speaker 6 (06:34):
Yep, Bob, you know you're getting one of the great
rivalries in the state when you're in your second century
of playing each other. Not from a time standpoint, right
because back to nineteen thirty seven, but this was meeting
one hundred and one.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
Next two teams.

Speaker 6 (06:50):
Warren came in, It's probably the favorite and eventually played
out that way in a fifteen point win. But to
Ben Davis's credit, they jumped out to a fourteen to
nothing lead. Five mentions of the game. They had a
pick six on the opening drive of the game for
junior linebacker Jeremiah Murphy that was followed up by a
fifty three yard touchdown pass on fourth and two to

(07:13):
Kylin Higgins. But to Warren's credit, they battled back took
a seventeen to fourteen lead at halftime. Ben Davis briefly
took the lead back in the third quarter, then Warren
it rattled off twenty one consecutive points, and the Warriors
now have won four consecutive games, including their last three
in mcplay.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
Well, you know, it's that time of year when you're
going to start to begin to see the classic and
I hate the cliche, let me use it anyway, pretenders
from the contenders. And this is where you start to
see where schedule shows you what lessons you've been able
to learn about your team. And yeah, that's kind of

(07:54):
a situation with these two teams tonight.

Speaker 6 (07:57):
Well listen, Ben Davis is better than one and four.
Right when you're a program that has ten state titles
and you're the second largest enrollment in the state, you
should play one of the best couches three. Ben David
has done that. The teams they have lost. You are
Cathedral Avon, Center Grove and Warren Central. Warren's loss was

(08:19):
the opener to Center Grove. And again Warren is one
of the best teams in the state this year. I
think they might be be favored in six A next
year because they have a lot of juniors on both
sides of the ball. Again, make no mistake, they're good
this year. And you know the way the draw kind
of works most year, Center Grove and Warren know they

(08:39):
will see each other in the region round. They went
back to playing each other in week number one. I
think Warren love to get another chance at Center Grove.
I think there's a clear of three or four top
teams in six A and Warren might just be a
tick below that. But they're a team that keeps getting
better on a week by week basis.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
And who are the playmakers tonight, Greg.

Speaker 6 (08:58):
Well, the playmakers are the guys on defense. And for Warren,
they're starting to get healthy again. You know, Jeremy Finch
Junior and Caleb Elkins have not been fully healthy this year.
Both guys are kind of playing on pitch cowns. Both
guys made big plays. Elkins had a pick and to
give you an idea, folks, Finch is going to Alabama,

(09:20):
Caleb is a junior taking a visit to the IU
Illinois game tomorrow. That idea they've got more players, and
that Sean Fox got offered by Minnesota this week. He
was a big factor of the defensive on the defensive
side from a offensive standpoint. How about sophomore quarterback Jack Quillin.
There was kind of a quarterback derby going into the season.

(09:41):
He frankly wasn't thought to be a part of it.
It was guys like Goss and Dennison with the sophomore
night throws for two hundred and fifty three yards and
three touchdowns in the victory for Warren Central. Again, he
is just a sophomore, so JG. Whitaker in his first
year at Warren. I think the pieces are in place
for them to be again really good this year, maybe

(10:04):
even better in years down the road.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
Greg Rakestraw from the ISC Sports Network tonight on the
call of Warren Central's twenty eight to twenty three win
over Ben Davis Grigg. Thanks for the call, have a
great weekend.

Speaker 6 (10:17):
Thanks.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
Coach Roger Pennington joins me, the head coach at Salem
Salem drops a tough one to ranked Springs Valley tonight
twenty six to seven in the final. Coach, thanks for
the call. Your team played a really solid team in
Springs Valley tonight.

Speaker 7 (10:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 15 (10:34):
They're awful, good, Bob. They run free plays and they
run them consistently at you until you stop them. You
just could not. Yeah, we we you know, we didn't
control the line of scrimmage, committed a lot of costleet,
you know, penalties, had a couple turnovers at stall drives.
So not exactly where we want to be. But our
kids fought and competed, and that's that's all we can

(10:55):
ask of them.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
Yeah, and I think that you need. It's difficult obviously
in the present when you lose a football game, no
one likes that, But there are lessons to be learned
against playing a team like a Springs Valley and you,
you know, hold them up as an example of kind
of how you want to have your program be.

Speaker 15 (11:14):
Yeah, you know, they're they're very well coached, they're very disciplined.
Then they obviously do what they do well and they
won't you know, they won't alter that unless you force
them to. And we did a good job in hon't
is stopping the run, and we never got them into.

Speaker 7 (11:26):
A passing passing situation.

Speaker 15 (11:28):
And you know, I thought our offense moved the ball
well at times, but every time we got a drive going.

Speaker 16 (11:33):
We'd have costlee penalty.

Speaker 15 (11:34):
So we got to go back to work and work
on some of the execution.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
Roger Pennington from Salem. They lose a tough one to
Springs Valley tonight, twenty six to seven. Coach, good luck
next time out, Thanks for the call.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
This Indiana Sports Talk Scoreboard update is brought to you

Speaker 3 (12:02):
Hey there on Brendan King with this network Indiana scoreboard
up date. Here on Indiana Sports Talk High School Football
Week five. We are up to three overtime games on
the docket tonight, each of the three decided by just
one point. We already told you about the overtime game
played between Northwood and north Ridge, Northwood by just a

(12:23):
point twenty two to twenty one. But again, two more
overtime games into the studio, including Greenfield Central's one point victory,
over Shelbyville and Ot twenty eight to twenty seven. Also,
Centerville got the best of Try in extra time thirty
one to thirty some barn Burners tonight and a lot

(12:45):
of points being posted. Nobody has posted more than cast
Scade seventy seven with their seventy seven to nothing victory
over Frankfurt. It was Castle over Vincent's Lincoln tonight that
a final seventeen to seven. Elsewhere, Delta doubled up Mountain
Vernon Fordville forty to twenty. East Side a thirty six

(13:05):
to nothing shutout of Garrett Eastern Green Toown defeated Carol
Flora twenty eight to twenty seven. Another one point victory
over to the Colts, who take on the Titans on Sunday.
First road game as a cult for Daniel Jones, he
talked about life on the road.

Speaker 17 (13:20):
Yeah, I've always enjoyed playing on the road. I think
hostle environment and it's kind of your you know, your
team and it you know, I think there's some part
of that that brings you, you know, closer and you
kind of got to, you know, pack together and go
in there and get a win. So I've always enjoyed
playing on the road. I'm excited for our first opportunity
to do that this year.

Speaker 3 (13:40):
Cults are two and zero heading into that road matchup
against number one pick cam Ward and the Titans in Nashville.
I'm Brendan King Network, Indiana.

Speaker 5 (13:56):
Welcome back everyone.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
This is Indiana Sports Rush Right Joner networks Sweet five
of the high school football season. John Harritt joins me
from the I Sports Network. He has forth Central's forty
one twenty eight win over Harrison of Weslofiatt, John, thanks
for the call. Impressive win for the Panthers tonight. John,

(14:19):
you with me. Hello John, John, I hear you perfectly.
Tell me about this win. Yeah, tell me about North
Central's win.

Speaker 7 (14:29):
Well, both these teams really needed a victory, Bob. They're
coming off losses. North Central had lost three in a row,
and he had he had the inkling in your mind
that both these teams are going to score a lot
of points because they both have struggled defensively this year.
And that was the case. But North Central did just
enough on defense to win that one. Tonight. Their quarterback
really ran the show. Well, Chase Grove, who's just a sophomore.

(14:52):
He threw three touchdown passes and he ran for another.
And this is the type of game where you need
that one defensive stop. Had the ball down forty one
to twenty eight leg game, they throw it to the
end zone and Jameson Hidtll intercepts it in the end
zone to steal the win for the Central and they
go on to improve the two and three on the season.
Harrison's played a big tough schedule at this point as well, too,

(15:15):
so they dropped a two and three. They've got a
big rivalry game against McCutcheon next week, where their head
coach grew playing his high school ball, by the way,
and then you've got North Central who's playing at carmelon
next week, and Carmel obviously look very good tonight, So
really good going from both these teams the same. It's
a shame somebody had to lose it, but North Central

(15:38):
just made a few more plays.

Speaker 1 (15:40):
John also a member of the Indian University broadcast team.
Huge game tomorrow night, John down in Bloomington against Illinois.

Speaker 7 (15:51):
Really there is I haven't heard much about that game.

Speaker 1 (15:53):
I think it's fantastic. Quite frankly, yeah, I know I'm
lobbing them on your hand to you right now. But
it should be wid.

Speaker 7 (16:01):
Yeah, it is. I've had somebody text me about it
every day this week, whether it's been my mom, my dad,
some of my friends from college. It's yeah, everybody's talking
about it. It's going to be a sellout, crowd, raucous atmosphere,
should be an excellent game. As you heard from Greg
Reistraw at the top of the hour, there's going to

(16:22):
be plenty of recruits there who are going to have
their eyes on both programs, and this is this is
the type of game that might decide might we don't
know how the rest of the college football season out,
but it could decide who gets that fourth Big Ten
qualifier into the College Football playoff because everybody thinks going
to be you know, Oregon, Ohio State, and Penn State,

(16:43):
the three other Big Ten teams, but who's going to
be the fourth? And we you know, there's a good
reason to think that the winner of this game might
get that fourth qualifier into the College Football Playoffs. So
it's so important to win this game for both these teams.
And it'll be very interesting to see what happens. Illinois
is not going to have one of their key cornerbacks

(17:04):
in this game. So that means that if you're Elijah
Surat and Omar Cooper, Indiana's top two receivers need to
have a really big day and get open for Fernando Mendoza.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
John Herrick Is Sports Network and the IU Sports Network. John. Thanks,
hopefully we'll track you down tomorrow night.

Speaker 7 (17:25):
All right.

Speaker 1 (17:25):
Thank you, Joajam, Thank you. Darren Fisher joins me, the
head coach at Whiteland. The Warriors tonight beat Berry Meridian
fifty to twenty eight. Coach, thanks for the call. Congratulations
on the win tonight.

Speaker 4 (17:39):
Thank you very much. It was a great team win.
We were had a forty two to six at halftime
and probably haven't played a better half all year long.

Speaker 1 (17:48):
You know, things are starting to come together. I suppose
a little bit you've been challenged schedule wise and other
things about your team, but this is an important win
for you.

Speaker 4 (17:58):
Oh, there's no doubt. You know, we've had back to
back games on the road. You know, after I thought
our kids showed a lot of grit last week. You know,
we we were behind, we had to come from behind,
and then we had to preserve to win with a
full line, you know, goal line stand there last week,
and you know, we told our kids, hey, you know
there is no relief here. We just have to keep
pressing on. But you know, we got to build some grit.

(18:18):
You know, you build some grit having to practice don't
happen anywhere else other than Monday and Tuesday. And you know,
I was really proud of our kids. They really showed,
you know, again back to back games on the road
in the conference, and I thought our kids did a
great job. We we jumped out seven enough and Jordan
Palmer had a big run on the first drive, and
then on their first possession, Kaden Lee had to pick six,

(18:40):
got us up fourteen and nothing.

Speaker 7 (18:41):
And then again we had a.

Speaker 4 (18:43):
Good defensive series again, got a good stop on fourth down, and.

Speaker 7 (18:47):
Then we were able to take that big lead.

Speaker 4 (18:49):
And you know, Eli Taylor caught a touchdown pass and
had an interception run back a long way, and like
I said, we just we played really good all around football.
I was really I was really happy with the progress
we've been continuing to make.

Speaker 1 (19:03):
Outstanding tonight, Wylan very impressive win fifty to twenty eight
over Perry Meridian. Darren Fisher, thank you so much for
the call. Good luck next time out.

Speaker 4 (19:14):
Appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (19:15):
Thanks to thank you. Tanner Camp joins me from the
regional radio Sports network Pin a fifty four to fourteen
winner over Maryon tonight. Tanner, thanks to the call and
impressive win for the Kingsman this evening.

Speaker 18 (19:29):
You know what really was, Bob, And I mentioned last
week about Penn putting up the points, and I got
to tell you what I've done that so well. I mean,
right now, over the last three games where the Kingsman, Bob,
the Kingsmen are outscoring their opponents one hundred and sixty
five to twenty. Right now, for Pete Reardon, they are
on a level. I mean they've had a nine coming

(19:49):
into the night's game. They had nine different players who
scored a rushing touchdown and a couple more who tacked
on more. I mean, you got guys like Landon Hall
who pretty much only played the entire first half seven
of nine for one hundred fifty passing yards and three
touching pass down. He's yet to throw an interception yet
for the teams. And then you had guys like Buddy
Hurley only three catches for fifty one yards, but two
of them were for scores. I mean, Penn, they just

(20:12):
completely dismantled Marion, And this is a team that right
now is playing about as perfect a football as you
could get, and they're doing this at the right time
to try to maintain their top spot in the NIC.
But got to give Marrying a lot of credit. When
you have a six A school coming into your homecoming
game and your three A school, I mean, that's the
challenge that Marion's always had. They're the smallest school in
this conference. They're always playing a tough team in and out.

(20:34):
But I tell you what, Terrence Lane was really one
of the stars for the Nights. He had both scores,
including a seventy eight yard touchdown reception and a ninety
eight yard kickoff return. So while the Knights may have lost,
there were still a lot of good things that Mike
Davidson's Knights had. But right now, for Penn, I mean, coach,
you talk about a perfect storm. The defense is playing great.
I talked to you about the offense. Of course, the

(20:54):
defense has multiple guys like junior Cold and Hernandez. Obviously
senior Vinnie Freeman, who I've talked about on the court
now next year to wrestle. But right now, if you're
p Reard and you're really pleased with how this team
run is at right now, especially as they get ready
for a South and Adams team next week for their
homecoming and you never, you know this coach, you never
want to lose your homecoming game. So right now for

(21:15):
the Kinsman it's about making sure they keep this type
of play. But if you're a Kingsman fan, you're really
happy right now with the direction that coach Ridan's got
going for them.

Speaker 1 (21:23):
No question. Tonight, Ben continues to put up a lot
of points on the board, fifty four fourteen winners over
Michell Walker. Marion Tanner Camp from the Regional Radio Sports Network,
Thanks for the call, Tenner, have a great weekend.

Speaker 5 (21:38):
Always a pleasure, my friend.

Speaker 10 (21:39):
Thanks.

Speaker 18 (21:40):
It's always for all that you do and it's one
of my favorite parts of Friday Night.

Speaker 1 (21:43):
I appreciate it. Thanks very much. Yorktown tonight beating Newcastle
forty four to six with me the man who had
the call on this game for WMUN, our great station
in the Moncie, our good friend Kurt Darling. Kurt, thanks
for the call. Yorktown kind of flecks in them, Muscle tonight,
putting up forty four on the board.

Speaker 19 (22:03):
Coach, back to back weekends that the Tigers put up
at least forty points in a game. And on top
of that, this was their first home game of the
regular season because their home opener that was scheduled against
Anderson back in Week one didn't happen because their brand
new turf football field was not ready. No, this was
their first game on a Tiger Victory Honda Stadium, and

(22:25):
now they are the final HHC team to have a
turf field. So they have finally gotten up to speed.

Speaker 7 (22:32):
And they of.

Speaker 19 (22:32):
Course got up to speed quite quickly in this one.
And I know we're up against a break hered coach,
but if you need be to hang on through the
scoreboard update, I can certainly do that, just so let
me know.

Speaker 1 (22:43):
But all right, go you know what? Do this? Go ahead?
Do you hear that music and you're a pro. You'll
be good.

Speaker 19 (22:50):
I've hosted the show before, so.

Speaker 1 (22:52):
Yeaheah, Well, gag tell me about it if you can.

Speaker 7 (22:59):
Oh, okay, gotcha.

Speaker 19 (23:01):
So they go up seven to nothing off of a
tick six by Cole Perdue in the early going, and
then on top of that that was fooled up by
touchdowns by Nate louse Hotter as well as another one
from Purdue, and Sam Tocard threw for a couple of
touchdowns as well. But the big player of the night tonight,
gre the Coach, was Drake Ford. He was a kicker

(23:21):
who went six for six on Pats that hit a
school record three touchdown at three field goal tonight. One
was from thirty eight yards. So York Town buying for
a conference championship.

Speaker 7 (23:32):
We'll see they.

Speaker 19 (23:32):
Take on they take on They've already taken on New
pal but they take on Penalton Ice later on so
HC football. Maybe it's as good as it gets.

Speaker 1 (23:40):
You're the best, Kurt Darlings Wmun Thanks Kurt, have a great.

Speaker 15 (23:44):
Weekend, you two coach.

Speaker 2 (23:49):

Speaker 3 (24:02):

Tonight impressively forty nine to seven. It was Knocks over

(24:22):

Richmond sixty four to six. Both Lawrence School's victorious tonight,
starting with Laurence Central over Pike forty two thirteen and
then Lawrence North. The tied for the most points scored
on the night so far, LN seventy seven, Arsenal Tech nothing.

(24:42):
It was Mississenawa twenty one, Alexandria fourteen. Monroe Central took
care of Tinley thirty eight to twelve, Munsey Central forty one,
marry In twenty one. It was New Palaestine. They are
the number one team in Class five A all over
penalty Knights forty two to six. North de Cato, Switzerland
County twenty seven and Nothing North to Cato number one

(25:03):
in Class A. Northeastern Blanc Union City sixty two nothing.
Part of the eighteen shutouts around the state tonight, Southern
Welles over Woodland thirty four to twenty one. It was
Warren Central thirty eight. Ben Davis twenty three and a
key funnel around Indianapolis. West Lafayette over Lafayette Central Catholic
thirty four to twenty seven. Western Boone got past North

(25:26):
Montgomery and clean Fashion forty two to fourteen, Westfield, the
Rocks handle HSSE twenty one seventeen, Whiteland fifty Perry Meridian

forty one to twenty one, Pioneer over North Miami forty
one twenty two, and lastly North Posey all over Pike
Central forty nine to six. I'm Brendan King.

Speaker 1 (25:57):
Welcome back, everybody, let's could join us. This is Indiana
Sports off front to you by Indiana Donor Network. High
School Football. Tonight, our good friend Brad you Weer from
indian High School Sports has the call of Lutheran's forty
two to six winner over Ritter. Brad, thanks for the call.
Very impressive win for Lutheran tonight.

Speaker 20 (26:21):
It was and actually it was a fourteen to six
ball game at halftime as Carla Ridder hung around for
a while and then they just kind of had some
self imposed penalties and a turnover and it was all
Lutheran twenty eight to nothing in that second half.

Speaker 1 (26:40):
Well, what's the reason for the turnaround? Anything you can
point to.

Speaker 20 (26:44):
Well, Lutheran had some help from Ritder. There was a
fifteen yard putt by Ritter early in the third quarter
of that game. Lutheran the football the Cardinal Ridder fifteen
yard line and that led to Mason's from the Tyler
Schultz touchdown twenty one to six. Carla Ridter had a
high snap on the punt in their own end zone

(27:07):
and that gave the football to Lutheran at the Cardinal
Ritter two and that led to a two yard touchdown
run by Braylon Ridner to make it thirty five to six.
So a couple of points off of a couple of
tough situations for Cardinal Ritter and their special teams.

Speaker 1 (27:25):
We all know, you know, mistakes will be your downfall,
and that certainly leads in large part to what happened tonight.

Speaker 20 (27:34):
Yeah, question, and Lutheran did a good job. They passed
a good job of taking advantage of those mistakes and
getting points up on the board. Mason Trump had four
touchdown passes to four different wide receivers today and then
a couple of touchdown runs as well by Braylon Ridner,

(27:54):
and he had two touchdowns in this ball game as well.
Lutheran And it's interesting Dave Pass was still not all
that happy with this football team and the postgame meeting
that they had, so I think they're still looking to
try to clean things up looking ahead to next right
when they head to Covenant Christian.

Speaker 1 (28:15):
I understand. I understand that one hundred percent Lutheran tonight
over Ritter forty two to six. Brad Huber from the
Indiana High School Sports dot Com appreciate it, Brad, have
a great weekend. Thank you coach, you too, Ron Qualls
as the head coach at short Ridge, they win again.
They beat Indianapolis George Washington thirty six nothing. Ron, thanks

(28:38):
so much for the call and congrats on throwing the
shutout tonight.

Speaker 21 (28:43):
Hey, thanks so much. You know it's it's awesome when
kids not only can put it up on the scoreboard
and keep the other team off, but deal with some class.
You know they're right times when when it's a lopsided
victory and things get out of hand and and vote
teams handled that so well tonight. Just really proud of

(29:03):
our kids.

Speaker 1 (29:05):
Well, you had the big road trip last week, the
big win up in Gary. Your kids battled through that
got to win, came back. That's impressed. That's an impressive turnaround.
That is a long, long week.

Speaker 21 (29:22):
It was a long bus drive last week and it
wasn't as long this week, but still getting across Indianapolis
at five o'clock drive you right. We You know, our
offense really came to play and last week did help us.
It gave us some confidence in scoring. And you know,
our two running backs accounts for three touchdowns rushing the football,

(29:43):
Tallon Beaver up over the top and was able to
get a couple of touchdown catches from our quarterback TJ. Stalworth.
It was a great night by them. But anytime that
it's thirty six zero, something else has to happen. And
that's that Defaul showing up and our defensive line, Bob,
I'm telling you that they've had they had over ten

(30:07):
tackles for Lasso, which which really sets you up.

Speaker 10 (30:12):
Well.

Speaker 21 (30:12):
I mean, our field position became incredible, rail and fits.
Our free safety had a couple of interceptions, but that
that front four that just kept bringing it all night.
Dmitri Edmondson and King Kubwawa, Jamel, Jean Devin high ball
that front four just they decided to get active tonight
and it's certainly paid off on the back end.

Speaker 1 (30:33):
All right, who's coming up for you next week?

Speaker 21 (30:36):
We will have Crystal House here at our place for homeowning.
So we are, you know what, We're in a pretty
good situation right now. But then we also see with
Christmas attics and tech uh coming down the line that
things are going to get a little more difficult. So

(30:57):
it's time to just, you know what, one day at
a time though.

Speaker 1 (31:00):
Our guys just insuring every.

Speaker 21 (31:02):
Day and that's what we want to be able to
see with a team like this.

Speaker 1 (31:05):
Short Ridge beating Washington tonight twenty excuse me, thirty six
nothing the final Ronqualls. Always happy for you. Great to
hear from you. Good luck next week.

Speaker 21 (31:17):
Thanks so much, Bob, appreciate you, Thank you.

Speaker 1 (31:20):
Grisson Leonard from Indiana High School sports dot Com joins this.
He has the call on Mississina loss twenty one to
fourteen win over Alexandria. All Right, Grissom, good win for
ole miss tonight.

Speaker 22 (31:34):
Yeah, they looked pretty good, but they were tested, hadn't
had a deficit all season, Bob, and right out of
the gate, Alexandria came up with an eleven minute drive
that they punched it in for seven during the whole
you know, the whole first quarter. And yeah, Mississinawa had
to sweat it out a little bit, but they got
it done well.

Speaker 23 (31:55):
It's an old miss team that's ranked, they're they're they're
the have high expectations rightfully so, and playing Alec is
always a good matchup for them.

Speaker 22 (32:07):
Yeah, it's always it's always fun. But yeah, they came
in ranked number three in Class three A and I
heard some rumblings around the press box, you know, a
couple of people chatting whether or not it was going
to get out of hands. But you know, I was
glad that the matchup went the way it did. Alexandria
put on a show. They had a double pass right

(32:28):
before halftime to grab the lead back sent the stadium
into a frenzy. I couldn't have executed it any better.
And then they pulled off a fake punt too toward
the end of the game to give themselves a shot,
but last ditch effort to try to tie the game
ended up and they ended up throwing a pick Brady
Gast had a good game, but last pass was.

Speaker 6 (32:48):
Probably his worst.

Speaker 1 (32:49):
And who else plays well? Who plays well on both sides?
If you can for me, Grisson, I mean.

Speaker 22 (32:54):
For Mississinawa, they've got a running back.

Speaker 6 (32:57):
His name's Elijah Monday.

Speaker 22 (32:59):
They call him Aha and he went for one hundred
and ninety yards last week. But I haven't gotten official
numbers to see what he ran for this week, but
it was up over one hundred again. You know, it
seemed like whenever Alexandria was gonna get a big stop
at the ball back, they just handed to Monday on
you know, third and seven and he'd pick up twenty four. So,

(33:19):
I mean it's they've got a really good running game.
Their defense really closed the door to cal Waterer had
his third pick of the season tonight. I mean, it's
a complete football team. I think they go on a
run towards the.

Speaker 9 (33:30):
End of the season.

Speaker 5 (33:31):
I who do they play next?

Speaker 22 (33:33):
Missus Sintawa's got Blackbird and considering Blackford's given up, I
think forty nine at least in every game this season,
I'd expect the Indians to start six and out.

Speaker 1 (33:45):
Grisson Leonard from Indian High School Sports Dot com on
the call of Mississina was twenty one to fourteen win
over Alexandria Mississino one number three and three eight Grisson,
thank you, thanks so much for the call. Have a
great weekend.

Speaker 22 (34:03):
Hey, thanks for having me.

Speaker 1 (34:04):
Thank you very much. I'm gonna take a little come
up for air, Brendan King, I'm coming up for air.
How are we on the shutouts tonight? You've been all
over these there's great number of the shutouts the defenses
have tossed on a Friday.

Speaker 3 (34:18):
Night defense, tight Friday night coach, without question, eighteen shutouts
games requiring overtime, and as mentioned a little bit earlier
on an update, all three of the overtime games decided
by one point each. So we've got some good action.

Speaker 1 (34:33):
Think about it too. I mean, we're creeping up on
the on the tournament. As I've pointed out a couple
of times, tonight on the show, October the twelfth is
the pairing show that is right around, right around the corner,
and you need to be playing better. You need everybody
needs to be playing better at this particular time. And
you know, we continue, I don't know how, but we

(34:56):
continue to get nothing but fantastic weather.

Speaker 3 (35:01):
Yeah, I mean this has been great. We actually, uh
I remember the last week of the baseball season, we
cooled off estantially. We were actually playing a couple of
games in the sixties in that last week of September.
So I'm glad it's gotten a little warmer again, because, hey,
you know, for anybody, but especially us play by play guys,
we love to complain about the weather and us being cold.

Speaker 1 (35:19):
So well, you know, you like to complain about everything.

Speaker 3 (35:22):
That's what I'm saying. So it allows us one last
thing to complain about.

Speaker 1 (35:27):
All right, school for rebuty, coming up with mister King.
Then more football, week number five of the high school
football season. This is Indiana sports suck.

Speaker 24 (35:49):
Wake up and text, Text and eat, Text and catch

not working. Maybe text and meet up with a friend
you haven't seen in forever.

Speaker 10 (36:15):

Speaker 5 (36:16):

Speaker 24 (36:17):

Speaker 1 (40:57):
Welcome back, everybody. This is Indiana Sports Sock, So glad
you could join us on really busy Friday night, week
number five the high school football season. Let's talk to
Brian Duggar, the football coach at Martinsville High School. The
Artesians and a thriller beat Franklin Community forty two to

(41:19):
forty one. Coach, congratulations on the thrilling win over my grizzlies.

Speaker 5 (41:27):
You know where I live.

Speaker 1 (41:28):
Here, you know I'm a Franklin resident. What a great,
great game tonight for both of you.

Speaker 10 (41:37):
Yeah, well, you know, for us, it was great to
see our kids bounce back after the roughly week last
week against the Cator Central, So that was We're very
proud of our kids. But honestly, I know Chris Coles
Group and Franklin. We were up thirty five to seven
at halftime and weren't able to close the door, So
hats off to them. They came out in the second half,

(41:57):
made some great adjustments, made some great plays, and then
had a chance at the end of the game. They
scored a touchdown with about thirty seconds to go. Forty
seconds to go went for two and didn't get it.
So honestly, just just.

Speaker 7 (42:11):
A great effort.

Speaker 10 (42:12):
By them, and we were able to hang on and
survive and we were we were lights out in the
first half, but just pretty average in the second half.

Speaker 1 (42:19):
You know, you made a great point though you were
humbled last weekend. I know you had to be pretty disappointed,
and you know it's one of those reality checks with
your kids and you can faint you who are when
what we made of from here? I think you got
that asked and answered tonight.

Speaker 10 (42:36):
Yeah, I mean, humble might be an understatement on that.

Speaker 18 (42:39):
It was.

Speaker 21 (42:40):
It was.

Speaker 10 (42:40):
It was bad. I don't know that I've ever been
a part of that in my nineteen years of coaching.
But you know, we we're real big on one and
zero every week. You know, you know, each week is
its own week, and the last few years we've used
that from the other side of the coin that you know, hey,
we had a big win last Friday. We can't let
it doesn't mean anything this week. We got to be
great this week and we got to use it the

(43:02):
other way this week, and that was we got to
forget about last week and we got to be really
good against the good Franklin team.

Speaker 1 (43:07):
All right, so tell me when you when you score
the game winner.

Speaker 10 (43:12):
Well, we scored. We scored early in the I think
early in the fourth quarter to grow forty two to
twenty one. Wow, So that was we we threw. Lanny
Casey had a big night our our junior receiver had
four touchdowns to night three. In the first half. He
returned the opening kickoff back ninety nine yards, So a

(43:34):
great way to start. But that and then after that,
unfortunately just became hang on. Like I said, the Franklin
kids fought, fought unbelievable and we just had one big
play innoc at the end to get the stop.

Speaker 1 (43:47):
Who got the big stop for you?

Speaker 10 (43:50):
Well, they ran a little bit of a little bit
of a trick play right down there, kind of a
reverse pass trying to find the ball in the end.
So I'm the guy that leaked out of the backfield
and a gamble peeper senior corner for us. Uh, you know,
he kind of got faked a little bit, but he
but he just sprinted back and got got in the
in the way and made a great play.

Speaker 1 (44:12):
Who's coming up next for you guys.

Speaker 10 (44:15):
We've got the Whiteland Warriors and Darren Fisher and the fly.

Speaker 18 (44:19):
Swing, So it'll be a fun week of prepping for that.

Speaker 10 (44:22):
Never fun. And I just like everybody in the mid
state there, everybody's so well coached and so against every week.

Speaker 20 (44:29):
So.

Speaker 1 (44:31):
Well, I wish you the best. Congratulations on the win tonight.
Martin Zill beat Franklin Community forty two to forty one.
Brian Dugar, thank you so much. Good luck next week.

Speaker 10 (44:43):
Hey, thanks, but I appreciate all you do for Indian
high school football.

Speaker 1 (44:46):
I appreciate the kind words. South Puttingham beat Sullivan tonight
ten nothing with me A very happy Chuck Sorrel coach.
That's a big win for you and your kids over
a very good Sullivan football team tonight.

Speaker 11 (44:59):
Yeah we we you know, had a really good defensive
night tonight. We tackled well, did all of our assignments well.
And you can shut a really good team out in
high school football any week.

Speaker 16 (45:11):
It's always tough.

Speaker 11 (45:13):
And they had, you know, their line was bigger than us,
their Brian receivers and there, and their running back was
faster than us. But we just stayed in our gaps
and we played good sound football tonight. And you know,
sometimes in the tournament. You got to learn how to
play defense, and we played well tonight.

Speaker 1 (45:28):
So coach, I need you to hang on through this
short break. Okay, Oh yeah, sounds good. Perfect, We'll come
back talk more about South Putnam's went over Sullivan plus
New pal and their win over Penalton Heights. This is
Indiana Sports Tuck.

Speaker 5 (45:45):
Alliance talking football coming up.

Speaker 1 (45:56):
Brian Chuck Sorel back with us talking about South Button
them win. Coach ten nothing over Sullivan. How did you
do it tonight?

Speaker 11 (46:04):
Well, we had really good defensive endplay. Damon Cox and
Khalil Jefferson didn't let any anything get outside of them.
We needed to rush the quarterback. Uh, those guys got
after it. And we're we're learning how to play defense, coach,
and you know in the tournament. Yeah, that's what that's
what you gotta do. And then we got our you know,
our all state player Keenan Myers Shields. I mean our
guy said he had twenty tackles.

Speaker 16 (46:25):
I mean he probably did well. We'll get the stats.

Speaker 11 (46:28):
Of the morning, but right, you know, just shut a team,
like I said, just shut a team out in high
school football, right, not easy any week.

Speaker 16 (46:35):
And you know we had.

Speaker 11 (46:37):
Two touchdowns called back on one kick return call back
and one on the offense. And you know, you just
gotta sometimes step up and play defense. And and I've
been saying all year that I think our defense is
pretty good, and we just get better and better each week.
And you know, all three phases and we got a
safety and then we went for we went for two
on the when when we scored. So you know, it's

(47:00):
a good Sullivan team. They are two A and you know, right,
and I'm just excited. We got to set out and
you know, we did a lot of good things, but
we got a lot of things to fix in the morning.
And you know, we we want to be a top
five team, and we got to play like a top
five team.

Speaker 16 (47:16):
And you know, playing good defense is a way to
stay up there.

Speaker 1 (47:19):
So, well, who do you play next week? Coach?

Speaker 16 (47:23):
So we have homecoming next week against West Vigo.

Speaker 1 (47:26):
So okay, there's a challenge for him, no question, another challenge.

Speaker 16 (47:30):
They're going we're going to do completely different than what
we saw this week. And then you know we're right
in the right in the conference right now.

Speaker 11 (47:36):
So we got West Vigo and then we have a big,
big game with Norfew big four A Norfew is two
weeks away, so but.

Speaker 16 (47:43):
We're all looking by West Vigo.

Speaker 11 (47:44):
I mean, obviously they're struggling a little bit and we're
playing well, but you know, we've got to take care
of business.

Speaker 16 (47:51):
Next week, it'll be all about taking care of what
we're supposed to take care of, fix the things we
didn't do right this week, and right hopefully end up
with a win on homecoming, a big crowd out at
South Putnam next weekend, and you know, we see where
we're at.

Speaker 21 (48:04):
We're starting to.

Speaker 6 (48:05):
Play really well.

Speaker 1 (48:06):
So sounds like it. South Buttingham tonight shuts out Sullivan
ten to nothing. Chuck Sorel, it's great to talk to you.
Thanks so much for the call. Good luck next week.

Speaker 16 (48:17):
Thank you, Bob.

Speaker 1 (48:18):
Go Eagles, thanks so much. Go Eagles coming up. Well,
you know what, let's just go ahead and talk. Let's
start it out with him. Andrew Smith joins me from
the New Palestine or Radio Network, New pal beating penalton
nights tonight. They continue to roll along, Andrew, thanks so
much for the call, and Dragons get a big win

(48:40):
over a big rival team that's ranked and so you
got to be happy about tonight's performance.

Speaker 11 (48:46):
Yeah, Dragons really are.

Speaker 26 (48:48):
As they both teams come in undefeated, both teams come
in ranked, you're expecting a pretty good game. And really,
New Palestine just dominated this game physically right from the
opening kickoff. First drive seven run plays in a touchdown,
second drive, five running plays in a pass and a touchdown,
and from there newpal was off and running. Led a

(49:08):
twenty one to nothing at the end of the first quarter.
Thirty five to nothing at a halftime. Wasn't expecting at
running clock tonight. But Jacob Davis with two undred and
two yards passing, led an offense again four hundred yards
in the first half. But Newpal's defense has allowed six
points their number one defense the whole season.

Speaker 1 (49:24):
Andrew, hang on to the schoolboard update. Okay, we'll come
back and talk more about it, all right, sounds good.
Top to hour school board update coming up with the
man himself, Brendan King. This is Indiana Sports Songs.

Speaker 15 (49:37):

Speaker 20 (49:40):

Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
