Speaker 2 (04:20):
Welcome back everyone on Bob Lovel. This is Network Indiana's
Indiana Sports Talk. Springs Valley continues to roll. They beat
Crawford County tonight forty seven and six with me Spring
Valley's Jason Lowe coach, thanks for the call. Congratulations on
another great win.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
Thanks Bob. We really appreciate you what you do for
high school football, and I appreciate you having us on.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
You're very kind, coach. I appreciate the kind words. But
I enjoy I enjoy all sports, and this show has
been great to me the last thirty one years now
thirty two. And so I tell people, I sit in
my house talk to friends about sports and get paid
(05:05):
for it. And that's my retirement job. So I retired.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
That sounds like a great job.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
It's a there is no better job going on. All right,
you talk about the job. You guys are playing some
super football.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
Yeah, our kids do such a great job. I mean
they literally from June third until you know, September twenty
sixth I mean every single one of our kids show
up every day and they do anything we ask them
to do, and and you know, I think they're seeing
the fruits of their labor now. And you know, we
we're hitting a stretch here where you're playing an upstart
Crawford County team, and you know, I think coach Stroud
(05:40):
does a great job there and it shows and what
they've done and the accolades they've gotten here recently, and
you know, we're getting ready to get into a stretch
where we wait for a conference championship and then and
then see some sectional opponents along the way as well.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
All right, tonight, offensively, you played well, obviously deficiate you
limit them to six. Tell me who steps up for you, coach?
Speaker 4 (06:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
Offensively, I'm going to start with our entire offensive line.
You know, Crawford County just absolutely huge up front, So
that was going to be a challenge for us because
we're not. And I thought our offensive line did a
great job. But quarterback Blake Buchannan had a great night,
accounted for three touchdowns, two on the ground, one through
the air.
Speaker 5 (06:18):
And then like you.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
Said, defensively, you know, we only give up one hundred
and forty six yards on the night, Algie Parkaiser goes
for ten tackles and causes of fumble. Defensive line man
Ethan Parker goes for eight tackles and recovers the fumble.
So great senior leadership. But overall, you know, our offensive
line does a great job, and then defensively, our kids
are playing you know, really really, I guess you'd say
(06:39):
inspired football and doing a great job on the defensive side.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
So who's up next for you, coach.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
We're going to get a We're going to upstart to
come see team you know here for homecoming, and it's
going to pose a challenge for us. They're going to
come in, there's gonna be a big bulls eye on
our back, and I know those kids are going to
come in and play really, really hard. So you know,
we need to come back and have a great week
of practice and be ready to go.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Jason Lowe, the football coach at Springs Valley tonight there
forty seven to six winners over Crawford County Coach. I
appreciate the call. Good luck next week.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
Thank you so much, Bob. We appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
You're welcome. Thank you, short Ridge Beach Crystal House tonight
fifty five nothing. A very happy ron Qualls joins me.
You've been calling me a lot coach. Your team must
be playing well.
Speaker 6 (07:25):
Well, you know what, you've got your retirement job and
your basements and here I am out. What am I thinking? Bob?
We've been there, yeah, listen, decades together.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
Yeah, yeah, we should talk about we should talk about
your your planning. Mine was pretty easy to say yes to.
All right, so tonight, offensively, what more can you say
about your guys?
Speaker 6 (07:49):
Oh, my goodness, Bob, I'll tell you what we really
were clicking And I get it. Crystal House and coach
Ash they're building something there and it's going to take
a little bit of time. But our guys jumped out
quick and when you know, it's twenty four in that
first quarter, and you know, we had our JD guys
in there, and by the end of the second quarter
running clock. But it was just it was a team
(08:13):
experience and something that our kids really haven't felt for
a really long time, where offense defense special teams.
Speaker 7 (08:22):
Right.
Speaker 6 (08:22):
You know, now we've got a kicker, Jack Hawkins, who
got seven out of his eight extra points, and they're
telling me around here It's been years since they did that,
and so we're excited about every little detail but our
our running game with Thomas Campbell and Josiah Elliott again
getting a couple of rushing touchdowns at Peace and Lawan
(08:42):
Simmelton Taylor Hoskins again. We just ran the football a
bunch tonight, no real reason to throw it around, but
it does. You know this, Bob, it doesn't happen without
those guys in the trenches, Charlie Goodwin, Michael hard and
King Ka. I mean it is Jameel, Jean Hevin, Highball,
all those seniors. It was senior night and homecoming.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
All grew bright one.
Speaker 6 (09:05):
Night, and so some of those nights I've been a
part of it can get a little bit crazy, but
it didn't tonight, and the guys really really came out
and executed exactly the way they needed to. And now
they're all dancing it up inside the building.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
All Right, who do you play next week? Coach?
Speaker 6 (09:24):
Christmas Addics and I know who got it there, and
they're playing great football and so it's going to be
a great contest again next week.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
Ron Qualls is the football coach at short Ridge. They
continue their winning ways fifty five nothing winners over at
Crystal House. Coach, thanks for the call. Good luck next week.
Speaker 6 (09:45):
Sure, appreciate what you do here in the state, Bob,
keep doing it. We appreciate you.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
Have a good Thanks, Thank you very much. Thank you.
Coming up much more football, stay with us. Score it
update coming up next with Land and Unees. This is
Indiana's sports.

Cal getting a forty two to twenty eight win over Huntington, North,
Arshall Tech sixteen to six over Indianapolis, Washington, Brownstown Central
fifty nine to thirteen over Seymour, and Gola gets the
thirty five to eight win over Fairfield Lawrenceburg, massive win
(11:28):
over Batesville forty eight to six. Leo shuts out Belmont

three over Jeffersonville Cloverdale, forty seven to three over South Decatur,
and looking back here for some of the rant games
that we have here, Fisher is getting a twenty nine
to fifteen win over Avon Cathedral, thirty two to twenty
eight over over Trotwood Madison and Decater Central over playing
(11:51):
till thirty seven nineteen.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
Welcome back. Let's talk football Whiteland with another W big
w tonight they'd beat martin Zille forty one thirteen with me.
Whiteland's head coach, Darren Fisher, coach, congratulations on a big
conference win tonight. Thank you, Bob.
Speaker 8 (12:16):
I appreciate it was as good a three phase team
win as we've had in a couple of years.
Speaker 6 (12:23):
So I'm really proud of it.
Speaker 8 (12:24):
Kid.
Speaker 2 (12:25):
That's impressive. I was going to say, it appears that
you're you're putting some things together. I mean, you really
are playing better football.
Speaker 8 (12:34):
Well, you know, like I said, we started the season
you know, with a with a couple of really good
opponents in those first three weeks, and you know, came
out of that one and two and we knew we
were We knew we were a developing team. And our
kids have done a great job of practicing and lifting
and studying and watching tape and they've been they've been
(12:56):
very consistent. And you know that's the key. When you
can get kids that hair and it matters. It's smart
and they do. So we really came on, I said,
tonight with a three phase win. We uh we started
the game up seven.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
To oh and then we blocked the punt.
Speaker 8 (13:11):
Our special teams Coach Lampson and our special teams group
did a did a phenomenal job. We returned a big
kickoff to get set up the first score across the fit,
you know, across the forty yard line, and then you know,
turn around and blocked the punt on the next series
and scored again. So when we start fast, we're pretty good.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
You know.
Speaker 8 (13:28):
We talked about being the wave over the railing of
the ship, you know, and and we really did a
good job. And you know, I guess I guess.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
You know.
Speaker 8 (13:38):
The other thing I would tell you is obviously our
punt team. You know, in the third quarter, they down
the punt at like the half yard line, and boy,
you know, we drove the ball out. We got about
nine yards and then our punt did a great job
punting off the back of the end zone and Eli's
aher and the punt he put the ball to fifty
yard line twice, and uh, you know those are those
(13:58):
are all big, all those special teams plays are so
big and in a win for you.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
And the other thing was red zone defense.
Speaker 8 (14:06):
Jake Weston are our defensive staff did such a good job.
We uh we forced two field goals on two drives
inside the ten and then no points at all. So
Martinsville actually was able to drive the ball into the
red zone fifteen yard nine in and we held them
to two field goals and a no touchdown at all.
And uh, like I said, I was so proud of
(14:26):
all of our kids. You know, just a come out
and start fast, b play great special teams.
Speaker 1 (14:32):
The do a great job in the red zone.
Speaker 8 (14:36):
You know, I don't we didn't turn the ball over tonight.
You know, so things are you know we I think
we won the big play ratio. All those things, those
are the there's seven factors that win high school football
games in my experience. And again, high school football is
better with Ron Qualls back in. And I heard Ron
talk before and I'm so glad he's back.
Speaker 9 (14:53):
And it's good.
Speaker 8 (14:54):
He's good for kids and he's good for football.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
And yeah, it's agree with you.
Speaker 8 (14:58):
You know, all us, all us thirty year plus veterans,
we all got us sticking there together and it's great
to see Ron back in it.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
Whiteland wins again White and went with a very impressive
win tonight. Very impressive win as I mentioned over Martin's
forty one to thirteen Darren Fisher, thanks for the call,
Good luck next time out.
Speaker 6 (15:19):
Thank you, man. I appreciate you talking next week.
Speaker 2 (15:22):
Thank thank you. Culver Community beats Casting tonight twelve to seven.
Austin Faust joins me. Coach, thanks for the call.
Speaker 10 (15:31):
Hey, coach, how are you doing.
Speaker 2 (15:34):
I'm doing great, good good win tonight for you guys.
Speaker 10 (15:38):
Yeah, you have a big one for us. We kind
of been fighting to get over to that hump and
our kids just played incredibly hard all game while he
was kind of a rock body. I'll just run the
good defenses going at it. But you know, we made
enough big place to get the win for us.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
I was gonna say, you got a one possession win.
So take me through how you were able to get
this win to night coach.
Speaker 10 (16:01):
Yeah, you know, we came up, took the opening kickoff
and had a really nice drive, took about eight minutes
off the clock, and our our twin connection Jonas McEwen
threw a touchdown pass to Kale McEwen to get on
the board six nothing and then uh, you know, credits
cast and they executed a flaw with counter criss cross
Leef liquor for P six to go up seven six
(16:24):
the half, and we just kind of battled back and
forth and we're able to finally take our first possession
of the fourth quarter and uh, Jonas McEwen ran it
in from the one yard line and we were able
to just pulled off defensively, you know, one for one
big play. We probably picked your shoutout tonight.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
So how much time was left when you got the
game winner?
Speaker 10 (16:45):
We was about laying It was like eleven eleven fifteen
left on the clock, So we had the whole brun
the fourth quarter, so you trying to kind of battle.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
G had to lock them up in at net fourth quarter.
All right, tell me who stands out for you tonight?
Speaker 5 (16:59):
Yeah?
Speaker 10 (16:59):
I thought, you know, obviously offensively McEwan boys, but defensively,
our linebacker Drake Strick junior cost just really really came
on all year long, and uh then our seniors up front,
the line Saron Arren Carrington and ishl I thought it
just played well too. And uh, we're to kind of
control the line of scrimmage defensively.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
Who's up next week?
Speaker 10 (17:22):
Yeah, we got Pineer Panthers next week. So obviously they're
uh they're a real good football team with coach Barry's
got got going on there. And we get them at
our place. You know, they they still got a shot
at uh at winning conference in the HNT and hang
them and uh geor Judson the two hundred few teams,
so you know, hopefully we might be looking past this
a little bit and get a good week of practice
(17:42):
and no kind of shock the state.
Speaker 2 (17:46):
Big win tonight for Austin Faust and his Culvert community group.
They beat cast in twelve seven. Coach, thanks for the call,
Good luck next time out.
Speaker 4 (17:58):
Yeah, thank you appreciate having on.
Speaker 8 (17:59):
Thanks for thing you do.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
You're welcome, Thank you very much. Danville beats Roger Bacon
of Cincinnati thirty seven thirteen tonight. Danville's Jamie Comer joins me. Coach,
congratulations on a great win tonight.
Speaker 11 (18:14):
Thanks Bob. I appreciate it as a big one for
the program and the kids homecoming games. So always nice
to win.
Speaker 2 (18:20):
Yeah, and on behalf of an entire state We're glad
you defended the honor of Indiana over Ohio tonight.
Speaker 11 (18:28):
Yeah, pretty cool situation. I mean first game. Yeah, Danville's
played versus an out of state opponents in nineteen forty
one when we played six man football. So first eleven
man game versus anyone from out of Indiana to get
a big win on homecoming. Super proud of our coaching
staff and our players for having a great week and
coming out nextcuten outstanding.
Speaker 2 (18:48):
So you know, it looks to me like this is
a game where you're able. You got let's start defensively.
What a wonderful job your kids did.
Speaker 11 (18:57):
Yeah. Absolutely. We called a couple turnovers, had two pick
uh they're quarterbacks, are all time leading passer for the
school and he's he's a stud. And they had some
receivers that were really good too. So our kids stepped
up to the challenge. Coach John the Well and called
our defense and did a great job put them in
good positions and uh, quorter pray throat a big interception,
Jacob full to to another one. So we had guys
(19:17):
that were flying around making plays and it was great
to see who.
Speaker 2 (19:20):
Are you playing next week? Coach?
Speaker 11 (19:23):
We got a big one at our place. Eleven and
Tigers come into town. Which who they're gonna be? There'll
be a well coached with coach Yder. He's an excellent
football coach, but excited for the opportunity to compete against
the Tigers.
Speaker 2 (19:36):
Right. Do you know who won the queen contest?
Speaker 7 (19:41):
Uh?
Speaker 11 (19:41):
No, I have no idea actually, so.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
See I always I don't mean to put you on
the spot, but I always one of the things I
always try to do in this show has always been
to get as many names mentioned as I can. And
that's why I asked. I asked who plays well because
I want to hear those names. And I'm a I'm
a proud father of a homecoming queen. My daughter won
(20:04):
homecoming Queen here and Franklin when she was when she
was in school, and I know, God, she takes after
her mom, So I know.
Speaker 11 (20:13):
The homecoming king was Malicky Lane, one of our start
indied outstanding.
Speaker 2 (20:17):
That's good.
Speaker 6 (20:18):
That was cool.
Speaker 2 (20:19):
Well, congratulations to him. I appreciate the call. Coach. You know,
you know I'm a Quaker, but I root for you
guys as much as I can.
Speaker 11 (20:30):
You know that I know that one and we appreciate it,
but go Warriers.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
You're welcome. Good luck next week. I appreciate the call. Coach,
thanks very much, Danville. With a great win over Roger
Baker Bacon from Cincinnati tonight. Chuck Seurel joins me from
South Putnam. They beat West Vego tonight sixty nine thirteen. Coach,
thanks for the call. Congratulations on another impressive night for
(20:57):
you and your guys.
Speaker 6 (20:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
Thanks.
Speaker 7 (21:00):
We had homecoming too, so a lot of the old
South Eagles were on hand tonight, and you know, we
got off the big start and was up sixty two
to seven at halftime. And you know, that's always fun
when we get everybody. We try to get everybody involved
that first time, knowing that the second half the young
guys are going to play and the two's and the
threes and you know, everybody else.
Speaker 2 (21:20):
We have on the team.
Speaker 7 (21:21):
But big homecoming night for us. We had a lot
of the old players hid invite them in for the
pregame speech, and you know, we gotta started off and
obviously when you're six.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
Yes, coach, I need you to hang on through their
school board update. Okay, yeah, sounds perfect. All right, we'll
come back talk more football on Indiana sports.

nine to thirteen. All right, coach, take me through this offensively.
One of those nights where you played at a very
high level. It seems yeah.
Speaker 7 (23:49):
And we wanted to get you know, I heard coach
Fisher talk about all three phases, and I thought we
had all three phases tonight. We went from week one,
two and three not being on a kick an extra point,
and it looked like, you know, we was atrocious, to
be honest with you, And we kicked nine xt points
in Mayden Beasley, so you know that part of the
game's coming along at the right time. But offensively, Ty
(24:11):
Bitton had two scores, Khalil Jefferson had two scores, Brian
Cook had two scores, Case and names at a score.
We got a lot of guys involved tonight, fasting and throwing,
just kind of did what we wanted offensively, and you know,
we gave up a late score in the first half
there to you know, make it sixty two to seven.
Speaker 8 (24:29):
But I mean, all in all, we played really well.
Speaker 7 (24:31):
We got a few things to fix on film in
the morning, and you know, when you're a good football team,
you're supposed to win games like this. And ron I
thought we completely dominated a football game. And we got
a tough matchup with nor Few next week, so you know,
for a north Few against us, and we'll see what
we can do, see if we can hold our own
against them next week.
Speaker 2 (24:49):
So I wish you the best, Chuck Sorel. The football

starting to come into our own. I was really pleased
with our physicality tonight. This is the second week in
a row with our defensive pitch to shut out, so
playing really well defensively. We actually started the game with
a pick six, and you know, offensively in the first
half we had two big rushing touchdowns by Dax Screamer
(25:40):
and Noah Milburn. We were up twenty one nothing. I
got a field go there in the second half, and
defensively we were just swarming to the football, So really
good effort by our kids, and you know, just excited
to get this win on the road.
Speaker 2 (25:54):
So did you expect this group to progress this quickly?
Speaker 5 (25:59):
Well, I mean, I think we we definitely have the talent,
we definitely have the ability. It's just a matter of
getting signdset to match that, you know. And and uh,
you know, I thought two weeks ago at Forest Park,
we you know, we were not the more physical team.
We did not tackle well, we didn't do things that
we needed to. Tonight we were quite the opposite. We
were the aggressor. We tackled well. You know, again, we
we've got some guys up front that are capable of,
(26:21):
you know, pushing the other team around. But it's just
got to be consistent. So I think that's the biggest
thing for us right now is just building that consistency
and building that belief.
Speaker 4 (26:29):
And think we're starting to get there.
Speaker 5 (26:30):
And obviously you want to be playing your best football
this time of year, so hopefully we can keep build
on that.
Speaker 2 (26:36):
Who's up next week?
Speaker 5 (26:38):
Uh so we go to Springs Valley, So it's gonna
be a big one for us.
Speaker 4 (26:42):
Uh you know, yeah, number four Springs Valley.
Speaker 5 (26:44):
So that's a roily tough one. We know that they're
a physical team, so you know, that's where we needed
to show improvement this week, and so it'll be a
big test for us we travel to them, but it'll
be an exciting game and hopefully an exciting atmosphere as
we you know, potentially could play them and again in
a playoffs, though, we'll see where we're at.
Speaker 2 (27:02):
I understand Tocumesey over Tel City tonight, twenty four to nothing.
Joey Paradin, Joey, I appreciate the call. Congratulations again and
good luck next week. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (27:13):
I appreciate Bob always good talking to you.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
Thank you very much. Kurt Darling WM you in joins me.
He has the Monroe Central win over Westdale twenty one
to fourteen to the final in that one, Kurt, thanks
for the call. Good win for Monroe Central tonight, coach.
Speaker 12 (27:32):
It's the battle for the harvest helmet and West Dell
has tried to win this game for the last fifteen
years and they have not been able to do it.
Monroe Central has won sixteen in a row in this
rivalry game between these two ball clubs, and it's with
certainly an interesting avenue in which the Golden Bears were
(27:55):
able to get it done this evening. First off, Westdale
went up fourteen to nothing in this ball game by
two excellent drives on offense. The thing is, though Monroe
Central was able to get a really good drive going
towards the final seconds of the first half. They scored
with seven seconds remaining in the first half. So with
the ensuing kickoff that takes three seconds off of the clock,
(28:19):
four seconds remained in the first half, West Dell has
a chance to get one playoff. They decide to throw it,
it's intercepted and return to the end zone for a
touchdown by Ethan Hunt of Monroe Central. So just like that, Bob,
they score fourteen points in a master They tie the
game going into the half, and after that, coach west
(28:42):
Dell marched right down the field. They go inside the
five yard line, they fumble it, Monroe Central recovers it,
and then on the ensuing play from scrimmage from Monroe Central,
West Dell gets an interception. They go down the field
again and they turn the ball over again inside the.
Speaker 8 (29:00):
Fire and it's a scoop and score.
Speaker 12 (29:03):
Of yards to the touch to the by Caden Dance
of Monroe Central. Coach Monroe Central scores their final two things,
their final two touchdowns on defense and Monroe Central only
had ten plays on offense the entirety of the second half.
Speaker 4 (29:21):
So Monroe Central.
Speaker 12 (29:22):
Dominated time of possession, but they could not get in
the bar or West Dell dominated time of possession, but
they could not get the ball in the end zone.
Final score to Night twenty one to fourteen and Westvale
back to back losses, Monroe Central back to back wins,
and it was a wild game to say the least,
as you expect from these two ball clubs.
Speaker 2 (29:42):
Sounds like it was you doing ball State tomorrow.
Speaker 12 (29:45):
Nope, actually not with ball State until November, so you'll
hear from me at that point. But yeah, Mark Forrester.
Ball State's actually got the week off this week as
well as produced so but the ball State Cardinals, they
pick up the conference play for the first signed the
season against Ohio next Saturday, so they get right back
into maxon there, so it'll be an entry. It'll be
(30:07):
a big game against the Bobcats for the Cardinals coming.
Speaker 2 (30:10):
Up next week. From WM you in in Mounsey, our
great station there. Kurt Girling on the call of a
very impressive win for Monroe Central twenty one to fourteen
to the final. Kurt, thanks so much. Have a great weekend.
Speaker 12 (30:28):
Thanks coach, you do the same.
Speaker 2 (30:31):
Chris Stevens, assistant head coach of North to Catur, North
to Catur Bes Lynton Stockton, what a great No, I'm
sorry Linton Stockton winning this one thirty eight twenty Is
that right, coach? You guys don't win this game.
Speaker 8 (30:43):
We don't win this game, Bob.
Speaker 2 (30:45):
It was.
Speaker 9 (30:45):
It was a good game though, I mean it was
do a probably for us, first time we've ever we've
ever played them, and it was a good game, physical, tough,
you know. Proud of the Boys is one of those
that you learn a lot from as we uh, you know,
as we start moving towards the postseason. You want to get,
you know, play good people. Good people make for good games,
(31:06):
which makes for a better teams.
Speaker 2 (31:07):
Yeah, and they are good. I obviously you don't need
to be told that, but let me say it anyway.
They're very good, and they're a big, physical group and
you do learn things. I think it's a great number one.
I applaud you and Steve for playing these guys at
this time. Gives you a barometer where you are and
(31:28):
what you need to focus on is this remaining one
third of the season.
Speaker 9 (31:34):
Yeah, and I think that was really the thought process
behind this. You know, it's again it's too two good programs.
We got to got go playing the roy the first
time I've ever coached down there, right, you know, it's
a it's a very unique environment. Uh you know, the
fans sitting you know, basically in your lap, which is
(31:54):
kind of cool, uh sometimes, but it was.
Speaker 8 (31:58):
It was a good time.
Speaker 9 (31:59):
It was They were very they were well coached, they
were prepared, you know, the tough, physical game, you know,
very senior dominated team over there for the miners, and
they're good. They you know, I tipped my hatch them.
They are a heck of a ball club and I
was just we were really proud of the boys for
the way they played. You know, there were a couple
(32:20):
of times where we shot ourselves in the foot on
some drives and you know, ball fall the little you know,
a couple of innches or to the left for the
right and it's a completely different ball game. But I
felt good that we were in it, you know, and
it gave us a list of things to work on
as we had down the head down the road towards
the postseason.
Speaker 2 (32:41):
Lendon Stockton beat snort that Cator thirty eight twenty tonight, christevens,
thank you so much for the call. Best of luck
next week.
Speaker 9 (32:49):

Speaker 2 (35:07):
Welcome back everyone. This is network Indiana's Indiana's sports Talk.
Andrew Smith joins me the New Palestine Radio Network newpal
forty nine nothing winners over Greenfield Central Tonight Number one
Dragons roll along again tonight, Andrew, thanks for the call.
Speaker 13 (35:29):
Yeah the Dragons. In six games this season, they have
taken the opening kickoffs six times. They have scored on
the first possession six times. And when you have a
lead before your defense ever takes the field, that certainly
puts you in a pretty good spot. And especially given
New Palas varsity defense, their number ones have allowed one
touchdown all season, and that was four weeks ago. And
(35:52):
tonight it was a stifling performance. The Dragons did what
they do offensively, four hundred and thirty four yards of
total offense, most of those in the first half as
they rolled up a forty two to nothing lead. Quarterback
Jacob Davis was eleven of twelve tonight for one hundred
and ninety one yards and three touchdowns. His last two games,
(36:12):
he's twenty two of twenty five passing the ball. He
is just playing at an incredibly high level right now.
Kiel Butler had four catches, including a touchdown. Landon Maddocks
had a couple of catches bolls for touchdowns, and this
Dragons team right now ling but offensively they're doing great things,
(36:33):
but it's really starting with their defense. They scored on
the five of a twelve yard touchdown run by Kayden Jacobia.
Defense gets a three and out and then Sam Hershey
blocks a punt brownfield. The Purdue commit scoops it up,
takes it in the big guy with early and newpal
is up fourteen to nothing, and it just felt like
that was the moment that the Dragons had put the
(36:56):
game away and we weren't even four minutes in, and
then New Palace scored three touchdowns from beyond midfield. They
can grind you out, they can hit you with a
big play. The special teams can score. That was their
third blocked kick return for a touchdown this season. The
defense can score. Brian coldwell scooped up a fumble and
ran it in. And you know it's a team right
(37:19):
now that doesn't have a whole lot of weaknesses and
just had a very workman like game tonight again against
Greenfield Central. A lot of players touched the ball and
a lot of players did really good things, kiting Jacoby
had a running back on one hundred and six yards,
had a couple of touchdowns on seven carries tonight, and
New Palas now six and zero and cruising. And they've
(37:43):
got Shelbyville for homecoming next week, so an opportunity to
come back home and see if they can continue their
march toward another Who's Your Heritage Conference Championship.
Speaker 2 (37:53):
Andrew Smith from the across com Communications, the New Palestine
Network beats Greenfield Central tonight. Excuse me, New pal forty
nine nothing winners over Greenfield Central tonight, Andrew, thank you
so much for the call. Have a great week.
Speaker 13 (38:11):
Thank you you too.
Speaker 2 (38:13):
Greenwood thirty five twenty winners over Perry Meridian with me
a very happy Justin Boser coach, thanks so much for
the call and congratulations on an impressive win tonight.
Speaker 4 (38:24):
Thanks Bob. It was a great night, homecoming night, a
night where we honored former head coach Rick Wimmer. Yeah,
we had him in town for Rick Wimer Night.
Speaker 2 (38:37):
Should That's great, That's fantastic. He could coach now. He
won a lot of football games.
Speaker 4 (38:44):
Yes, he did, so it was great to have him
in town. We had all of his Greenwood former players
invited and then had a big crowd out of them.
And it was also the twenty year anniversary of their
sectional championship in two thousand and five, so it was
great to have him in town and were great to
have all the alumni attending the game. And you know,
(39:07):
had a great night offensively and did a lot of
good things defensively, kind of played a ben don't break
defense tonight.
Speaker 2 (39:16):
This brought this win game. All right, coach, I need
you to hang on through this schoolboard update. Can you
do that?
Speaker 4 (39:24):
Yes? I can.
Speaker 2 (39:25):
Well, actually it's you know what it's not. It's just
a short break. It's like a two minute break. So
you hang on because I want to want to talk
more about your win. Okay, all right, thank you, perfect,
thank you. We'll come back talk more with coach Justin
Boser from Greenwood and Tanner Camp from the regional radio
Sports Nowhere, Chris Norton from wit Z, blake Man from
(39:47):
Indian High School Sports dot Com. A lot going on
after this short break, everyone, We're talking with Justin Boser,
the football coach at Greenwood. They beat Perry Meridian thirty
five twenty homecoming win. Coach, tell me how you do
this tonight?
Speaker 4 (40:03):
Well, we got started with the scoring deep pass to
Benjamin Hummel, I believe, a fifty seven yard touchdown to
start the game, and then it kind of went back
and forth a little bit. Gunner Rupert also in the
first quarter had a sixty three yard touchdown run, and
then they came out and tied it to start the
second half, and then we proceeded to score three unanswered
(40:27):
touchdowns Gunner Rupert and then Benjamin Hummel with a seventy
four yard touchdown reception and a forty eight yard touchdown reception.
Speaker 2 (40:38):
Pretty solid stuff defensively, Good job too, Greenwood, Happy homecoming night.
They went thirty five to twenty over Perry Meridian. Justin Boser,
thanks so much for the call. Good luck next week, coach,
all right, thank you, Bob, thank you. Blake Man joins
me from Indiana High School Sports dot Com. He has
the Westdale game. Coach, I mean, coach Blake. I'm sorry
(41:02):
you've been on hold for so long. My goodness, the
host needs to do a better job of running this.
Monroe Central beat to Westdale twenty one to fourteen. Tell
me about this game.
Speaker 14 (41:14):
First of all, you're good, Bob, and I appreciate you
calling me coach.
Speaker 8 (41:18):
I wish I had.
Speaker 2 (41:18):
Those credits, all right, but that's all right.
Speaker 14 (41:22):
But yeah, Monroe Central against West Dell had it for
Indiana High School Sports dot Com, the Harvest Helmet Classic,
big time game. It was a big pass to open
up the scoring. After a muff snap on a punt
and the Westdale team able to get the ball at
(41:43):
the opposing twenty five yard line, a big pass from
quarterback Noah Purdue to Eli Wright gets them close and
then brock Nomen they able to punch it in and
they go up seven to nothing. Monroe Central then has
the long drive, but they end up turning it over
on downs, which means Westdale, who hadn't won the series
in a very long time, has a chance to go
down the field and score, but they end up fumbling
(42:04):
inside the ten yard line, and that's going to be
the story of the game. Is just turnovers in this one. However,
later on they get another shot at it and on
fourth and ten they get a long touchdown pass to
oh and Long. They do take a fourteen to nothing
lead then, and the offense all night long for Monroe
Central really had their difficulties. But on the last offensive
(42:25):
drive of the first half, Monroe Central, with four seconds left,
finally was able to punch it in. They are down
fourteen seven or four seconds left. Then the kickoff was
actually messed up according to their coach.
Speaker 2 (42:39):
He said that the kickoff.
Speaker 4 (42:41):
Was not supposed to be a short one.
Speaker 14 (42:43):
And Westell gets the ball with about three seconds left
at midfield, and this is where the game turns around
completely as Noah Purdue tosses one up and it gets
picked and taken all the way back for a touchdown. Yeah,
and that really swung the momentum of the game fourteen all.
But then in the second half, West Dell put together
a pretty good drive in a tie game. They get
(43:06):
a long touchdown it looks like from brock Normen, but unfortunately.
Speaker 4 (43:10):
For the Warriors.
Speaker 14 (43:11):
There was a holding penalty on the play so it
did not count. And then two plays later Noman stumbled
the ball for the third turnover of the game for
the Warriors and the Golden Bears get it. And then
after another long drive by west Dell again after the
Golden Bears had to pawn again, they take it inside
(43:33):
the ten yeah and end up having to have the
ball
