Welcome back every one of Bob love this network, Indiana's
Indiana's sports daughter. I'm glad you're with US.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
High school football tonight.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
It's been very, very so much going on. Glad you're
with us and having some fun. We're talking with John
Herrick from the IS Sports Network. John, thank you so
much for the call. We lost you a little bit earlier.
I apologize for that. So tell me exactly you have
(05:36):
you have the Hamilton Southeastern North Central game?
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Is that right?
Speaker 6 (05:40):
Yes? Yes, I did, Bob, all.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
Right, HSC. You were a win, thirty one thirty one
seven win for HSSE. It's a very impressive win.
Speaker 6 (05:49):
Yeah, I was. This is now two weeks in a
row that Hamilton Southeastern has held their opponent to seven points.
They held Carol to seven points fourteen to seven win
last week, and then they beat North Central tonight thirty
one to seven. But you know, the game was a
little bit closer than the final score may indicate. This
was a seven to seven game through a quarter and
(06:10):
a half and then all of a sudden, Hamilton South
Eastern defense turned up to pressure. They got some pressure
on the North Central quarterback Chase grow pressure forced him
to throw the ball into a spot where he didn't
want to and then it was an interception for him.
HSC goes down, scores a touchdown to go up fourteen
(06:32):
to seven. Then they force another to stop on defense
and then they get the ball back, they go up
twenty one to seven by halftime. And those two scores
that they had after the game was tied, those are
both ten play drives. So they really wanted to have
a better showing offensively than they did last week. They
got that. And plus their defense continues to be a
(06:54):
really stellar talking point for this team because they really
know how to pressure on you. And then they're very dynamic.
And they've got a quarterback and Terry Walker the third
who's going to Duke University next year, and he made
some really good plays with his arms and his leg
as a dual correct quarterback.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
Well, you know, they are a good they are a
solid football team. Then they really are, and I clearly
we talk about the improvement from week one to week
two is.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
A big thing for everybody around the state.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
I think you saw it, especially as you mentioned offensively
for HSC.
Speaker 6 (07:30):
Yeah, and North Central coming off that big win last
week where they snapped a thirty two game losing streak.
Their run defense did a good job for most of
the game, but they didn't play the passing game that
was equivalent to that last week against Forbuff's passing game,
although it's nice. It's not bad.
Speaker 5 (07:50):
It's not as good as.
Speaker 6 (07:51):
Hamilton South Eastern's passing game, and Terry Walker really hit
them incredible passes for big games and I don't think
North Central quite ready for that yet. That's a tough
thing to have to play in week two, coming right
with such an emotional eye of a win and we
won the bill Red Group from this. Colin Koeper, the
new head coach for North Central, had a long talk
with his team after that. He's not going to be
(08:14):
too pleased with the result, but I think given the
fact that this team really struggled against HSC last year
on brute will winless season, he has to be happy
with the way that the team battled and competed. It's
just that whenever they would move the ball down the
field that then they would have an ill advised pass
or a turnover or something would just not go their
way because they're playing a really good team that knows
(08:36):
how to play very physical on both sides of the ball.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
HC Tonight over North Central thirty one to seven, the
final from the ISC Network. John Herrick will be talking
with John tomorrow night talking about IU or another win
opening up their season. John Thank you so much. Be safe.
We'll talk tomorrow night.
Speaker 6 (08:58):
Thanks a lot, Bob. It's going to be a rocket atmosphere.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
At Blomington, I hope. So thanks for the call.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
Griffin Leonard from Indian High School Sports dot Com gives
me a call. Griffin, thank you so much for being patient.
I appreciate your patients there. Tonight you have Lapell beating
Frankton forty nine to two, an overwhelming win for a
ranked Lapel team tonight, Yes, sir.
Speaker 7 (09:21):
It was a heck of a game, the heck of
an offensive performance for Lapel. I mean, they won the
section last year. Everybody knows the kind of offense that
Devin Craig provides for Lapel, but it was all on
show tonight.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
Very impressive though. You know, hard to find things that
they didn't do well in a game like tonight, and
plenty of guys I'm sure.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
Making big plays. If you can tell me who.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Plays particularly well tonight in the in the win for Lapel, I.
Speaker 7 (09:51):
Mean from the jump, the offense was just on fire.
It was a group effort. Jack Miller, they're starting running back.
He was coming off a game last week that he
almost had two hundred yards on the ground. He and
another rushing touchdowns tonight. I had him at one hundred
yards again. Sophomore receiver Liam Coe had a big breakout game,
had two of the three passing touchdowns that he caught
(10:15):
from Craig. The sophomore had his first career touchdowns tonight.
And yeah, I mean they didn't punt once. I mean
it was impressive.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
Wow, that is very impresive. Who's up next for them?
Speaker 8 (10:28):
They got Shenanoah coming up next week. They're they're host
him at home there two and zero now, And I
mean I wouldn't I wouldn't be surprised if they made
it three.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
Griffin Leonard, Indiana High School Sports dot Com on the
call of BELS forty nine two went over. Frankdin Griffin,
thanks for the call, have a great weekend.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
Welcome back every one of Bob Lobill DO Network Indiana's
Indiana Sports Talk.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
Let's talk some high school football.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
David Deaton with me from WKLO North Ayrison beat Scottsburg.
Excuse me, North Ayrison losing to Scottsburg twenty one to fourteen.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
David, thanks so much for the call. David Deaton, Are
you there hello, David, Yes, yes, coach, I'm here.
Speaker 5 (13:25):
Fire away.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
Tell me tell me about this matchup between North Ayrison
and Scottsburg.
Speaker 10 (13:31):
Well, it was certainly a defensive battle tonight at a
Warrior Field on the campus of Scottsburg Middle School. The
Cougar's making the trip over and first road game of
the season under first year head coach Gary Fessel and
Gary is a two thousand and two North Harrison graduate.
He takes over for Mark Williamson, who retired at the
end of last season after thirteen years leading the Cougar
(13:54):
football program. But even though the name of the head
coach is different, the style of play is very similar
form North Harrison. They're still a team that wants to
pound the football, played physical downhill, and they were able
to do that at times tonight against Scottsburg. But the
Warriors defensive front, especially their front seven, did a great
job containing Bryce Fussel, who let the Mid Southern Conference
(14:17):
and rushing yard ag a year ago. They limited Bryce
to eighty four yards on twenty eight carries. He did
have a touchdown run in the fourth quarter, but the
Cougars were playing from behind most of the night. Scottsburg
scored on their very first possession at just under two
minutes into the contest, and able to get a pass
from Nathan Byrd to Garrett Bowling for twenty two yards out.
(14:39):
Sucker Dorrio's extra point made it seven to nothing, and
then North Harrison able to hold Scottsburg in check for
quite a while. Then with three to zho nine to
go in the second the Cougar's capped off a drive
on fourth down with Caden Hayne finding Bryce Fussel for
a ten yard touchdown pass. Austin Sends extra point tied
the game at seven. The Warriors came right back x
(15:00):
possession three plays sixty four yards. The Cougars gave the
Warriors an assist because of a personal foul penalty that
set up the twenty seven yard pass from Bird to
Matthew Wickie. The extra point was unsuccessful, so Scottsburg led
thirteen to seven going into halftime. The Warriors would score
again late in the third quarter with three to zero
four to go, with Bird connecting with Louke Hamilton on
(15:22):
a twenty one yard touchdown pass. The Warriors went for two.
Bird found Wiki on the conversion for the two points
to give Scottsburg a twenty one to seven lead, and
then with just under four minutes to go in the fourth,
Price Vessel finding his way into the end zone from
three yards.
Speaker 6 (15:38):
Out to get.
Speaker 10 (15:40):
The Cougars back within a touchdown, but North Harrison to
get it back one more time and then on the
second play from scrimmage on their last possession, unfortunately, senior
quarterback Caden Haynes throwing over the middle through an interception
to Garrett Bowling, the middle linebacker for Scottsburg and the
Warriors escape with a twenty one fourteen win. But coach,
(16:01):
this Scottsburg team filled with veterans, guys who are three
four year varsity and layers, and a very good team
going against the North Arison team that has a few
guys who are rejoining the football team or are new
to the varsity level. This right yere and mccougar's put
up a good effort tonight, But Scottsburgh is a very
formidable team and this might be the most complete team
(16:23):
Kyle Mullens has had since the Scottsburgh's program restarted back
in twenty fifteen.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
Scottsburgh twenty one to fourteen winners over North Harrison. David
Eaton from WKLO, David, thank you so much, have a
great weekend. Thanks you too.
Speaker 10 (16:38):
Coach, dok to you after the big Cat classics between
cord And and North Arason next week.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
I'll look forward to it. Let's keep talking high school football.
Salem beats Silver Creek tonight twenty seven to twenty. Roger Pennington,
the head coach at Salem, joins me. Coach, congratulations on
a great win tonight.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
For you and your kids.
Speaker 9 (16:59):
Thanks a lot, Bob.
Speaker 11 (17:00):
Was a great win for our football program and for
our fans, and for our community.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
And for everybody driving home from the game listening to
me on WSLM.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
I appreciate that too, Coach.
Speaker 9 (17:13):
Yeah, you know you can't be WSL and Becky White.
Speaker 12 (17:16):
You know they're all right.
Speaker 11 (17:18):
They're the sport authority in southern Indiana, and we're.
Speaker 2 (17:22):
Glad to be a part of it. We're honored to
be a part of it. There.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
You have enough faith in us to put us on
the air. We appreciate it. Why so tell me how
you do this tonight? This is a great rivalry, great matchup,
a one score win.
Speaker 2 (17:34):
How do you do it?
Speaker 9 (17:36):
Well?
Speaker 11 (17:37):
You know this is a conference rival for us. We
hadn't eaten Silver Creaking several years, and just a gutty performance.
Speaker 9 (17:44):
By our kids.
Speaker 11 (17:44):
We only dressed twenty seven kids tonight, Bob our our
numbers are really down. I'm just the interim head coach.
Coach Brian Gleaesing is battling cancer and so you know,
our football program is kind of at a crossroad. So
this is a huge victory tonight for our football program.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
Well, it shows a resilience not only you know, out
on the field, but a resilience within the community. And
what a great group of kids, And certainly not good
to hear the news about coach Cleasing. Known him for
a long time, he's been part of the show and
he's a tremendous football coach, tremendous person. But I think
he shows you know already the character of your football team,
(18:24):
and I think you even underscored it more tonight.
Speaker 11 (18:28):
Yeah, Coach was he was texting me right after the
game and you know, this was this was this was
not only a great win for our team, but it
was a great win for our football program. And coach Gleasing,
you know, came came to Salem. This would have been
his third year, and he's really done a good job
trying to change the atmosphere here. And so we're just
excited to get to win over conference rival tonight. Peyton
(18:49):
Shockey had a great night to night for us. He
had to pick six there in the third quarter. That
kind of changed changed the momentum for us, and we
were fortunate enough to hang on there at the end.
Just just a great job by our defense to shut
out an explosive Silver Creek offense. Really, so yeah, you know,
a lot of a lot of credit for us to
spread around to a lot of different guys.
Speaker 2 (19:11):
All right, So who comes up next for you, coach?
Speaker 9 (19:14):
We got Scottsburg, who you just talked about, right, They
had a nice to win over the North Harrison Cougars,
who we played last week, which is another conference rival
for us.
Speaker 11 (19:24):
We got Scottsburg at home. They have an explosive offense
as well, so they got a lot of weapons, they
got a we got a really good quarterback, and they've
got one of the best running backs in conference.
Speaker 5 (19:32):
So we got our hands full.
Speaker 9 (19:34):
But our kids are up for the task. We look
forward to it.
Speaker 11 (19:36):
We're at home, so we look forward to another big
crowd and you know it's mid Southern conference football, Bob,
It's yeah, pretty exciting.
Speaker 1 (19:45):
Salem tonight twenty seven twenty winners over Silver Creek.
Speaker 2 (19:49):
Interim coach Roger Pennington with me and coach queezing.
Speaker 1 (19:53):
If you're listening, you're in my thoughts, You're in my heart,
and congratulations. Just do a gutty group of guys tonight, coach,
thanks so much for the call.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
Best of luck next week.
Speaker 9 (20:05):
Thanks Bob.
Speaker 1 (20:07):
Andy Durrell from Culver commu Academies is with me.
Speaker 2 (20:11):
Coach.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
I'm sorry, I'm glad you called back. Thank you very
much for calling me back. Marian beats Culver tonight twenty
one fourteen. Played a real good team tonight, coach.
Speaker 2 (20:22):
Yeah, we did, you know.
Speaker 12 (20:23):
I have a lot of respect for their program, and
we trailed seven oh and a half and had an
opportunity to tie it up and made a mistake right
before halftime, but came out in the third quarter a
little flat and Marian punched two more in and so
we trailed twenty one to nothing, and then a fourth
quarter really came alive a lot of times, showed a
lot of grit and competitiveness, and really proud of them
(20:44):
that we scored it with about a minute and a
half left to make it twenty one fourteen. And thought
we had the on sidekick recovered, but the officials thought otherwise,
so they were able to kneel it out. But just
the fact that our guys battled back at a really
young team this year, and really proud of this through.
Speaker 1 (21:02):
Yeah, and you know, obviously you're playing up a little
bit against the team with some talented, really really talented
kids across the board, especially their skilled kids, and so
you know, a lot of positives to take from this game.
Speaker 12 (21:17):
Yeah, I was really proud of our defense, even though
we gave up twenty one. I thought that they made
some real strides from last week.
Speaker 13 (21:24):
We played much.
Speaker 12 (21:24):
Better than we did last week. And that's all we
askedtball guys, you become a better, a better football team
on every Friday. And you know we're not conference, so
we're we have looked forward to just getting better throughout
the season and having a chance to be competitive.
Speaker 13 (21:38):
And a sectionalists.
Speaker 1 (21:40):
Andy Dorrell from Culver Academy is on the call, Culver
losing to Marion twenty one to fourteen.
Speaker 2 (21:46):
Coach, thanks so much to the call.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
I appreciate you calling back, and I wish you and
your kids the best next week.
Speaker 9 (21:53):
Appreciate it.
Speaker 14 (21:53):
Thanksjob, take care.
Speaker 2 (21:55):
Thank you, thank you very much.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
Tanner Camp joins me from the Regional Radio Sports Network.
He has the Penn Mishawaka matchup the Battle of South Bend.
Tonight goes to Penn Pin beating Mischawalka twenty eight twenty two.
Speaker 2 (22:08):
Tanner.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
Always a great matchup between these two teams, and this
one just another one of those great matchups tonight.
Speaker 14 (22:15):
Man, Bob, you hit the nail the head first off.
Great to be back with you here tonight, but you hit.
Speaker 2 (22:19):
The nail at the back. Hey, you know what, Tanner, Tanner,
hang on.
Speaker 1 (22:23):

Stay with me.
Speaker 2 (22:28):

a great game.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
Tell me how Pinn's able to win this game?
Speaker 14 (25:00):
Well, coach, I'm going to tell you what it was
not easy. Ben led the all time series forty nine,
sixteen to one, and at one point with Keith Kinners group.
I mean they liked her run. They're gonna tell you
they're gonna run and you try to stop it. And it
worked for the first quarter. Bob as Pen ended up
being down sixteen zero at half at the first quarter. Rather,
and let me tell you, when Mitchell walk is on
a groove, they are a really, really tough team to stop.
(25:22):
But pete Arden, he's a defensive guy. His guys made
a lot of really great plays. Of course, led by
a name that his last name he may know his dad,
Vinnie Freeman, son of Marcus Freeman. He was phenomenal in
that linebacker spot. But Cold and Hernandez call him the
Swiss Army Knight for this team because not only did
he come away with some big tackles a big pass breakups,
he even had seven catches for seven rushes rather for
(25:44):
fifty nine yards than two scores. Including Ben was able
to claw their way back, and it was Cold and
Hernandez who had the go ahead thirty two yard touchdown
with six minutes and fifty six seconds left in the
fourth quarter. I gotta tell you what pete Arden's team
they are, Henrey. They are absolutely happy about getting that.
Speaker 5 (26:01):
Bounce back win.
Speaker 14 (26:02):
Last year they lost at Steel Stadium at Michiwalka twenty
seven to seven. So this is like Ohio State Michigan.
This is a must win game for Penn every year
and they get a monster win over one of the
top teams in four way. Coach, it was a really
great game, a great crowd of a little over seven
thousand at Freed Field. And I tell you what, that
is a team to keep an eye on in six
A this year.
Speaker 1 (26:21):
Well, they're always a team to keep an eye on
in six A. Quite frankly been tonight. I think underscores
exactly what that's about. That's an impressive win, without question.
Speaker 14 (26:33):
Well, coach, it was. And you know the big thing is,
you know this team made plays and got better throughout
the game. You know you always hear coaches talk about
make improvements every Friday night or whenever they play. This
team finds a way to improve throughout the game. They
got nice twenty one to thirteen victory at Valpo, and
they really relied on the ground. Game last week was
more of a battle in the air, and this time
it was on the ground. I mean Landon Hall, the
(26:53):
junior quarterback. He was great tonight, thirteen to seventeen for
one hundred and twenty two passing yards. I mean, you
got guys Brayson Hurley in six catches seventy four seventy
four kept passing yards including a nine yard touchdown run.
So this group just finds a way to improve, and
you need to do that each and every drive. And
I tell you what, Pete Riardan's got a real special
(27:14):
group this week and they got to be ready for
South Nriley after their big win against Wayne tonight. So
for Pee Riardan and the kingsman if they can find
a way to continue to improve and keep this consistent level,
as you mentioned it, they're always on the lookout. But
this year Pete Riardan and the Penn Rinds and may
have another special team this season.
Speaker 1 (27:31):
Great job by Tanner Camp from the regional radio Sports Network.
Ben with a win over Mischi walkat tonight. Thanks a lot, Tenner,
have a great weekend.
Speaker 14 (27:40):
Coach love will always a pleasure one of my favorite
parts of Friday nights. And as always, thanks for what
you do for Indiana High School athletics.
Speaker 2 (27:46):
You're very kind. I appreciate it. Thanks for the call.
Speaker 14 (27:49):
Absolutely no.
Speaker 1 (27:51):
Let's talk with Derek Fisher from Whiteland Whiteland Beach, Floyd
Central tonight, forty eight, twenty eight.
Speaker 2 (27:56):
Coach, thanks to the call. Great bounceback win for you
and your kids.
Speaker 13 (28:01):
Thank you, sir, Yes, it was our kids started fast.
You know, that's always the key for us to make
sure you come out of locker room with offensive urgency.
And we again we forced We forced two turnovers on
special teams for total two on defense, and like sure,
we were up fourteen to nothing. We recovered an on
sidekick after our first score to go up fourteen to oho.
(28:23):
And it was a good thing because Floyd Central is
a really good offensive football team and you know, we
had a hard time, hard time corral in them. But
again we were able to force enough. You know, we
were able to steal a possession on special teams, able
to force some turnovers and do some things well. So yeah,
we were happy with our progress between week one and
week two.
Speaker 2 (28:43):
I understand who plays well.
Speaker 13 (28:45):
Coach Jordan Palmer had a phenomenal game running the football.
I'm not sure how many yards and how many touchdowns,
but it.
Speaker 14 (28:53):
Was it was a really good night.
Speaker 13 (28:55):
It was a really really good night for Jordan Palmer
offensive line and then played well. Jonah up Church. Our
quarterback connected on an eighty yard post route to Eli Taylor,
which was a good thing for us.
Speaker 14 (29:09):
We're backed up in our own end and you know,
they gave.
Speaker 13 (29:11):
Us cover zero and we were able to take advantage
of it. So I thought we did a nice job
of taking advantage and doing some things that we needed
to do. Again, we've got a lot to clean up,
lots of fix, but again I was really happy with
We had an interception at the end to seal.
Speaker 5 (29:27):
The game by day Boons and coach.
Speaker 13 (29:30):
Like I said, I just I just think we played
pretty well.
Speaker 1 (29:32):
Great coach, we got to run. Thanks for the call.
Welcome back everybody above. Lovel was yet a sports high
school of football tonight Heritage Hills fifty seven ten.
Speaker 2 (29:50):
Winners over Owen's Borough in Kentucky.
Speaker 1 (29:53):
Coachd Wilkerson with me on the call, Coach, great win
for you and your guys.
Speaker 9 (29:58):
Yeah, I was.
Speaker 15 (29:59):
We We really got off to a hot start, had
it clicking on all cylinders. Played great defense in the
first quarter especially, and just jumped out on him, got
up quick I think twenty eight nothing there in the
first quarter and just kind of locked him down. They
kind of figured a few things out in the in
(30:19):
the second quarter, started moving the ball a little bit
and ended up, you know, gaining some yards for the game.
Max Johnson their quarterback out of Owensboro, There's a pretty
good kid. He's a nice passer there, and they got
a few things going. But but I tell you, we
we got a couple of guys back, a couple of
baseball players back that played in the Legion World Series.
We got those two guys back, Yeah, Michael Tooler, Michaeh
(30:42):
Tooller and Peyton Gray and many They really helped us
tonight in terms of spreading the ball around. Jack Goldsberry
had he was nine of ten for two hundred and
twenty five yards passing with five tds.
Speaker 9 (30:56):
Uh followed that followed that up with.
Speaker 15 (30:59):
Six rushes for a d and two touchdowns. Toler had
one hundred and eight yards receiving. Gray had forty two
and then a big tight end who's going to Oklahoma,
Tyler Rutster had seventy five yards and two touchdowns. So uh,
you know, and I have to mention tys Winch, who
a running back had eight rushes for one hundred and
forty two yards in a touchdown.
Speaker 5 (31:19):
So yikes, you know, just offensive.
Speaker 15 (31:22):
One of those nights it was just clicking. Everything was
going well, and we knew we'd have to play really good.
Speaker 5 (31:27):
Defense against this team.
Speaker 15 (31:28):
They're pretty good offensive football team, and you know, we
did a really nice job just just jumping on them
and I think just kind of taking them out of
their game.
Speaker 1 (31:39):
Well, you know, you're number four for a reason in
three A and you want a championship a year ago.
So with the talented kids you have coming back, not
surprised to see you playing at this level.
Speaker 2 (31:51):
Coach. It's I think you have those expectations.
Speaker 14 (31:55):
Yeah, I just want to make sure I heard you right.
Speaker 5 (31:56):
We're in four A.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
Now right, four A. Sorry about that. I can't coach,
I can't talk about trust me, you have no idea
how busy you are. But it's fun, you know. Well
you do know you've been trying to get through. I
appreciate it, coach. Good luck. Thank you so much for
the call, Thanks for trying me.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
Multiple times, and I wish you and your kids the
best next week.
Speaker 15 (32:22):
