innings of one run ball. So far, the Blue Jays

Speaker 1 (04:43):
Welcome back everyone in Bob Lovell, this is Indiana Sports Talk.
Glad you're with us. Fun night, great night to be
here stalks in high school football. Tim Abeles the football
coach at Triton Central Tonight they beat Northeastern four, forty
nine to six.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
Coach, thanks so much for the call.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
Congratulations on the win tonight, Thanks much, Bob.

Speaker 4 (05:07):
We finally played the game that we've been waiting for
all year. We've struggled at times one quarter in the game,
and we played four quarters really well. Actually we played
one half really well because this forty nine to zero
at half and second half we pretty much so played
our subs. Great night again for Brandon Brown had a

(05:27):
ninety three yard touchdown run, had two others. Wow, I
was one of two touchdown runs and then he had
two touchdown catches Connor maclure and also then Henry Kemper
caught the other touchdown passes. That man means Matthew Wilkins
had a great nine at TV. It was just fortunate
they had a player that was hurt during the week

(05:48):
and so that kind of tipped the scales. Our way
they've been everton about fifty points a game. So our
kids are able to have a good week of practice
and it showed up in the game.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
You talk about finally put some things together. Hopefully that's
a trend. Hopefully that's that's gonna be. You know, suddenly
that carries you into these next few weeks. I mean,
you've you've won a lot of games by by not
playing great football, but I think you have to be
encouraged on the night like tonight.

Speaker 4 (06:18):
Yeah, our focus was and our play was clear and clean,
and it was exactly what we expected. Our kids that
really bought in. And we're peaking the right time, probably
as healthy as we've been in the tournament time since
I've been here. We usually have a way of finding.

Speaker 5 (06:34):
Ways to get increased.

Speaker 4 (06:36):
Right now, we're really healthy, and obviously you want to
be peeking at the right time.

Speaker 5 (06:39):
But obviously we got right next.

Speaker 4 (06:41):
Week with Lapel because they beat us last year intersectional.

Speaker 5 (06:45):
Championships and we got to go to their place, and
you gotta be really prepared.

Speaker 4 (06:48):
Their outstanding program, an outstanding team, and outstanding coaches. So
we're looking forward to challenge. But we got a big,
heavy week of preparation.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
Yeah, but I think it's a game that you and
your guys have been looking forward to for a year
quite frankly.

Speaker 4 (07:04):
Sure, but I'm sure they're looking for another sectional championship
and looking down the road. So we're just trying to
win it every day and win a week and then we'll.

Speaker 6 (07:14):
Go from there.

Speaker 4 (07:15):
But we just know that they came back again tonight
for like the third or fourth time when they've been
down by double Digitison.

Speaker 7 (07:22):
Seemed to find a way to win, So the game's never.

Speaker 6 (07:25):
Over with them.

Speaker 4 (07:26):
Their quarterback is one of the best in the state.
I think he led to State last year in passing yards.
But we are going to prepare for him like we
did last year. Obviously we got prepared a little bit better.

Speaker 5 (07:37):
And we had a unique season with their.

Speaker 4 (07:40):
Offense because we had our quarterback got hurt Game four
in the middle of the game, and so then we
had to play wildcat for four weeks. And so this
is our second week of having our system back in
tax So you know, it just been kind of one
of those weird seasons.

Speaker 5 (07:56):
But to our kids.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
Credit, they always kept.

Speaker 5 (07:57):
Finding a way to win, and now we're finally on
a role like we should.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
Be Tim Abel football coach at Triton Central. They beat
Northeastern tonight forty nine to six. Tim, thank you so
much for the call. Good luck next week.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
Thank you.

Speaker 8 (08:12):
Bob.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Michael Kelly, the head coach at Hamilton Southeastern HSC beat
Homestead tonight twenty four to ten. Coach, thanks so much
for the call. Congratulations on the win.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
Thank you coach.

Speaker 7 (08:26):
It was a Homestead jumped out a ten oh leads
on quickly on us, and our kids did a good
job battling back and score twenty four on the answers.
So when we had ky and Kelly had a game
of his life. He had a pick two and two
touchdowns for us on offense as well. He had a
heck of a game. And I'm proud of our guys.

(08:48):
You know, it's been in one of those years, like
Coach Able was just saying, you're up and down with
injuries and all kinds of stuff, but our kids are
playing hard and fighting so excited to see see what
the future holds and the hard work they put in
showing up our defense all year has kind of been
very strong for us, and they were again tonight.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
Well you responded, I mean you know, the character of
the team shows up. You get down ten early and
come back and put twenty four one answer and on
the board speak highly of your group.

Speaker 6 (09:20):
Yes, sir, Yes, sir.

Speaker 7 (09:21):
And that's we got a lot of senior good senior
leadership on the defensive side particularly, and then we got
some young talent on the offensive side. And so Deacon
Johnson had a good game at the quarterback position for
us as well, and he made some big time throws
for us. And and uh, I guys, I guys played
pretty well on the offensive side of the ball. And

(09:41):
it was good to see for us because they're Homesteads,
very well coached, and they got a really good defense,
and they lost their quarterback few in week one. Uh
and so they had another young man playing, but he's
he's a dual threat guy as well, and our defense
a good job is containing him and and making things
a little bit more challenging for their for their offense.

(10:02):
So but the character of the team, you know, as
you said, it shows up in those tough moments, and
I was I was happy to even respond. Well, our
task now is to start fast, So that's what we
got to work on now.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
Hamilton, Hamilton Southeastern twenty four ten winners over Homestead.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
Michael Kelly, thanks to the call. Good luck next week.

Speaker 9 (10:25):
Appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
Thank you, Bob, You're welcome. Thank you. Greg Rakestraw Coming
up next. This is Indiana Sports Talk.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
I'm Brendan King with this network Indiana Square Board update
here on Indiana's Sports Talk. Sectional semi final Friday continues
looking at Class two way. First with Sectional thirty four,
it was south Mont doubling up Western boone and then
Some thirty three to eleven. The final. South Mont will
meet Lewis Cass next week for a sectional title. Lewis

(10:55):
cast no issue with Seeger fifty five to fourteen. Section
thirty five. Adams Central remains unbeaten. They'll take their perfect
record into sectional championship Friday next week thirty five to
fourteen over Bluffing. Adam Central set to meet east Side,
who gave up just a field goal beating Manchester forty

(11:15):
two to three. We'll move to Sectional forty where Switzerland
County took care of Clarksville fifty six to twenty and
it was Brownstown Central over Paoli sixty three to twenty one.
Brownstown Switzerland County next week to Class A Sectional forty
two Pioneer over Frontier Tonight forty two to six, and

(11:36):
it was Carol Flora by just a penny over Taylor
twenty to nineteen. Carrol Flora Pioneer Sectional forty two. A
week from tonight, in Sectional forty four, Hagerstown earned the
victory over Monroe Central twenty two to eight. It was
South Adams defeating Try forty nine to fourteen South Adams Hagerstown.

(11:56):
Next Friday in Sectional forty five, South Putnam May continued
to roll forty five to seven over Fountain Central. Also
it was Riverden Park. They're eleven and zero over North
Central Farmersburg forty one six two undefeated squads. Next week
South Putnam Riverdon Park. Lastly Sexual forty six Cloverdale sixty
one Tinley six it was Sharridan over Clinton Prairie forty

(12:18):
two twelve.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
Welcome back everyone, I'm Bob Lovell.

Speaker 1 (12:20):
This is Indiana Sports Talk. It's brought to you by
Indiana Donor Network. Greg Rigstraw from the ISC network Sports
Network joins me. He has the Lawrence Central twenty six
twenty four win over Lawrence North and Greg call screening
being what it is I'm told that this has a

(12:42):
quote unquote crazy ending, So I turn it over.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
To you, Bob.

Speaker 10 (12:48):
I have been doing this now for thirty two years.
I have never had a game and in the fashion
in which it did tonight, and in fact, in the
National Football League, this game would not end in this fashion.
Lawrence Central fourth and goal at the two yard line,
two point six seconds left to go, Santana Allen scrambles

(13:10):
the LC quarterback diving for the end zone. Before he
gets the end zone, the ball is not free on
a fumble. Al Good in the third for Lawrence Central
recovers in the end zone, a game winning fumble recovery
touchdown as time expires, and Lawrence Central sends LN home

(13:32):
at seven to three with a twenty six to twenty
four win. Again a game winning fumble recovery touchdown on
the final play of the game.

Speaker 2 (13:44):
Why not.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
Huge rivalry, you know, for Lawrence Township, great rivalry and
everything they do. Why not have it in this way?
It seems to be very fitting, quite frankly, Bob.

Speaker 10 (13:59):
Ten weeks ago, in the very same end zone, when
LC and LN opened the season playing against each other,
zaymor rushes for a touchdown with two seconds left to go.
LN wins that game thirty four to twenty seven. Ten
weeks later, same end zone, same field, nearly the identical
time on the scoreboard when the play started. LC scorers

(14:23):
to win the sectional version of the Battle of Lawrence
Township and move on to face to cater Central for
a sexual championship next week.

Speaker 2 (14:32):
Okay, now that's creepy.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
I mean, let's face it, all right, So these two
teams have explosive playmaker type guys on both sides. So
is it close the entire I'm assuming it's close all night.

Speaker 10 (14:47):
It's close the entire way, Bob. Nobody scored until there
were nineteen seconds left to go in the second quarter.
Santana Allen had the first of his two touchdown passes
for the game. Len had moved the ball the entire game,
just couldn't finish drives. They would actually get the ball
back on kind of a squib kick around midfield, and
two plays later would have a field goal to get

(15:08):
to halftime at seven to three. Elsie had a lengthy
drive in the third quarter to make it thirteen to three.
Then LN exploded as you talk about zaymore eighty four
yards on a quick hitter out in the flat to
get Ellen on the board. Forty three seconds later, Santana
Allen throws his second pick of the game, just his
fifth of the season. For Else, Jadeen Lucindy takes it

(15:31):
thirty seven yards to the house. You blink your eyes
and LN is up seventeen thirteen, But the teams would
continue to answer LC scores LN scorers. Else has the
football for the final four minutes and ten seconds. They
take the ball the length of the field eighty eight
yards and again score with a fumble recovery in the

(15:56):
end zone to end the game.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
Are you here? They play next week, so.

Speaker 10 (16:01):
The cater Central is whom they would play. The cater
Central had North Central pretty sure that game would be
at In fact, I know that game would be at LC,
and Else was on the road and the cater Central
was at home tonight. So you know, last week, you know,
people ask me, Hey, any any surprising scores, and I said, no,
not really this week. Yes, again, I knew LC would

(16:21):
hang with LM because I saw it happened ten weeks ago,
and frankly two weeks ago, Lawrence Central led Carvel for
most of that game. One of the best teams in
six A. So you knew that Laurence Central was capable. Tonight, Bob,
they put it all together.

Speaker 2 (16:36):
All right, You joining me tomorrow night and have some fun.

Speaker 10 (16:39):
I've got a couple of soccer State finals, and you know,
kind of much like it's gonna be tough for those
games to match what I saw tonight, Bob. The first
game of the soccer State Finals went thirteen rounds of
penalty kicks. So I kind of set the bar for
the remainder of the weekend because I'm pretty sure that
the one A boys game kicked off like forty minutes

(17:02):
or so. So it's gonna be a late night at
Carroll Stadium.

Speaker 1 (17:06):
All right, Greg Rerigstraw, Indiana. I is the ISC Sports Network,
Lawrence North, Lawrence Central.

Speaker 2 (17:13):
How much better can it get?

Speaker 1 (17:15):
Quite frankly, Lawrence Central wins this one tonight, twenty six
to twenty four.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
Greg, thanks to the call be safe.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
We'll talk to you tomorrow night by Thick Bob. Thanks
very much, Kurt Darling WM you in tonight is the
Logan Sport thirty two to twenty four win over Monsey Central,
Kirk thanks to the call, big solid win. For the
Barrys Tonight.

Speaker 2 (17:41):
Coach.

Speaker 11 (17:41):
This is a wings offense that has a seeming to
be that the Achilles heel of the bear catch.

Speaker 12 (17:47):
This season, the only other time they played a wings
offense was against Adam Central.

Speaker 11 (17:52):
Back in week number three.

Speaker 12 (17:53):
But nevertheless, Logan Sport came to play, but so did
Munsey Central. In fact, every Sea play and every single
drive that happened in the first half.

Speaker 11 (18:04):
Was a mirror of the other team.

Speaker 12 (18:06):
And Munsey Central went up first, going sixty seven yards
on a very methodical try to go up seven to
nothing early.

Speaker 11 (18:13):
It was capped off of a beautiful.

Speaker 12 (18:15):
Pass and catch from Mason Ferguson to Land and Johnson.
Munsey Central leads seven nothing, but then right out of
the gate Logan's Port does the exact same thing. They
go back the other way and knotted up at seven
to seven, and then both teams exchanged punts, and then
both teams exchanged touchdowns, and then they exchange field goals

(18:35):
before the end of the half, and so it was
not at seventeen going into the half time period. But
that's where the barriers really created separation.

Speaker 11 (18:45):
Logan'sport got the ball to start.

Speaker 12 (18:46):
The second half and they drive the length of the
field to get it there.

Speaker 11 (18:50):
They they actually dried the link of the field.

Speaker 12 (18:52):
On their next possession after a turnover on downs that
was forced by the.

Speaker 11 (18:56):
Bearcat defense, Monsey Central ends.

Speaker 12 (18:58):
Up throwing an intersect and then they turn it right
back over to logan Sport and then they punch it
in for a subsequent touchdown, and after that, Mounsey Central
they were able to get one back again to not
en up at twenty four a piece, but still Munsey
Central's defense had to come up with a big play in.

Speaker 11 (19:15):
The fourth quarter. They did.

Speaker 12 (19:16):
They forced the punt from Logan's Court and then on
the subsequent drive from the Bearcats they get into the
red zone and then Mason Ferguson is unfortunately intercepted by
the Logan's Court defense and then they end up punching
it in for a touchdown after that to win.

Speaker 11 (19:32):
The football game.

Speaker 12 (19:33):
So it was a valiant effort by the Munsey Central
bear Catch this season. But Logan's Sports showing how good
of a team they are and they're going to go
up against Lebanon in the Sectional championship here in a
week's time.

Speaker 11 (19:45):
But hats off to the Bearcats this season. First winning
season in.

Speaker 12 (19:48):
A decade, and the head coach, Kyle Barash, certainly has
a good foundation going.

Speaker 11 (19:52):
Into next season.

Speaker 1 (19:54):
This sounds like a fun game, Kurt, I mean it
sounds like seriously, this sounds like it let's be a
great game to call.

Speaker 12 (20:01):
It was one of the most entertaining games that we've
had this season, and the Bearcats certainly made it a
good season.

Speaker 11 (20:08):
To call here.

Speaker 12 (20:09):
This here on wmun and so lots of really good
pieces that the Bearcats have been able to put together,
and it's like I said, it was one of the
more more entertaining games we had back and forth we wins,
I mean Vegas Mason Ferguson was absolutely outstanding this season
at quarterback for the Bearcats. Landon Johnson and dacy On
Eccles combined for one hundred yards rushing tonight.

Speaker 11 (20:31):
So it was a lot of fun.

Speaker 12 (20:33):
And next week looks like we're gonna be at Yorktown
and Pendleton Heights for that championship game. That's the oppordain
game that many people have really been looking forward to
in this area.

Speaker 11 (20:44):
So we're hoping to be on the call of.

Speaker 12 (20:45):
That one, and still lots to be excited about here
up in East central Indiana.

Speaker 1 (20:51):
Kirk Darling from w m u N on the call
of Logan Sports. Logan Sports thirty two to twenty four
win over months. He soon Thank Kurt, thanks so much
for the call. We'll talk to you next week.

Speaker 11 (21:04):
Thanks Jag, looking forward to it.

Speaker 1 (21:07):
Let's start out talking with Andrew Smith from the New
pal Network, New Palestine Beast Plainfield forty two to seven. Andrew,
thanks so much for the call. Great win for the Dragons.
We have about a minute here, so kind of get
me started.

Speaker 2 (21:22):
Okay, Well, this was a game.

Speaker 13 (21:24):
I think New Palestine was certainly favored, but I don't
think anybody expected the martin and victory to be what
it was. Tyler Buss is a very good team at Plainfield,
but the Dragons basically took command. Third play of the game,
Jacob Davis breaks a fifty eight yard touchdown run. Then
the Quakers go three and out, punctuated by Sam Hershey sack.

(21:45):
Davis again finishes a short drive with a twelve yard run.
It's a fourteen to nothing game. A forty one yard
pass is entered and tam On. A beautiful ball by
Bryce Lavon gets Plainfield the scoring territory, but they stall
in the red zone and that just kind of seemed
stunt the momentum. Dragon right responding with a touchdown drive
to go up twenty one nothing and they really cruised
from there. Let it forty two to nothing at half

(22:07):
and on.

Speaker 2 (22:08):
Til next week.

Speaker 1 (22:09):
Yeah, Andrew, hang on, I want you to come back
and talk more about this game.

Speaker 2 (22:13):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (22:15):
I'm Brendan King with this network Indiana scoreboard update here
on Indiana Sports Talk. The state of Indiana has a
new all time leading rusher. Miles McLaughlin from Knox has
done it, passing New Palestine's Charlie Spiegel. Spiegel's record ten
eight hundred and sixty seven. We await the final between

(22:36):
Knox and Griffith, but the talented Knox running back Miles
McLaughlin has done it. It looks like Knox is going
to beat Griffith, but again we await the finals score there.
If so, Knox would move on to face Mishawaka Marian
in Sectional twenty five from Class three to a Marian
over Caliu Matt forty three to eight. But again, the

(22:57):
great Charlie Spiegel has been leaped for all. Miles McLaughlin
is your new all time leading rusher in the state
of Indiana, of course, but coach Lovel will talk with
Andrew Smith from New Palestine here after this scoreboard update.
Would love Andrews thoughts on that he knew Charlie Spiegel's
talents very well. But again, Miles McLaughlin breaking now the

(23:18):
all time rushing record, and he broke the single season
rushing record last week. All right, more scores to get too.
From Sectional semi final Friday, Sectional thirty one, Indian Creek
took care of Madison forty six to seven, and it
was Scottsburg shutting out North Harrison twenty seven to nothing.
In Sectional thirty two. We await the final between Evansville

(23:39):
Memorial and Gibson Southern. However, we already know that Evansville
Modern Day will move on with their forty two to
twenty one victory over South Rich. Game six of the
World Series continues, the Dodgers trying to force a Game
seven LA three Toronto one from Canada. Eighth inning the
Dodgers with two on and two out as a g

(24:00):
and they look to keep their season a lot I'm
running thing.

Speaker 1 (24:02):
Welcome back everyone on Bob Lovel This is Network Indiana's
Indiana Sports Talk. Before the scored update, we were talking to
Andrew Smith from the New Palestine Radio Network. New palvi's
playing field forty two to seven, tremendous performance. Again, I
don't think anyone, Look you're talking about my Quakers here,
I didn't expect them to lose by this score. I

(24:25):
think it addresses how good New Palestine really is.

Speaker 13 (24:29):
Yeah, especially you're facing a top ten team that has
posted some really impressive results at their place, and I
think everybody expected New Palal was going to be a
favorite coming in, But I don't think anybody expected a
forty two to nothing game at halftime.

Speaker 2 (24:47):
And it really.

Speaker 13 (24:48):
Shows New Pal's offense is so efficient. They had five
first half drives, five touchdowns tonight, and the game really
was decided upfront, and New Palestine's offensive line just dominated
the line of scrimmage and New Pal's defensive line did
the same against a very big and talented Plainfield line.

(25:09):
But third play of the game, Jacob Davis breaks a
fifty eight yard run on a quarterback sweep down the
left side that seemed to set the tone that and
then New Pal's defense forcing a three and out with
a sack that Sam Hershey had delivered led to a
short drive. A Jacob Davis touchdown run punctuated that It's
fourteen to nothing midway through the first quarter and Plainfield

(25:31):
had some life. Bryce Sabank, their outstanding quarterback, threw a
beautiful ball on the run forty one yards to Zandern
and Tom got the Quakers into scoring territory. But the
drivestall to the twenty yard line and that just seemed
to kind of suck the life out of playing field
a little bit. Newpal drove down the field first play,
Mason Oglesby catches a thirty yard pass out of face

(25:54):
masking Pedaly on top or roughing the passer penalty on
top of that put the Dragons into scoring territory. They
were able to score to make a twenty one to
nothing and then later had a pick six by Cam
Rollinson and Newpal ended up running the ball for two
hundred and forty seven yards in the first half. Jacob Davis,
the quarterback, had one hundred and forty five and a
couple of touchdowns. Josh Rains had forty yards and a

(26:16):
couple of touchdowns on eight carries. Kat and Jacobia had
sixty two yards and a touchdown on seven and I
think that's been what newpal has done this year. They
don't have anybody has really gaudy numbers, but a lot
of players are touching the football in every game and
a lot of players are making plays. And it really
starts up front. Brock Brownfield, Nave Walling. You've got a

(26:38):
guy going to Purdue and a guy going to West
Point anchoring your offensive and defensive lines, and they're controlling
things in the trenches. And tonight Luke Starns, playing fields
all time leading rusher, a great football player, was held
to forty seven yards tonight. And it was a game
that really, from about the midpoint of the first quarter

(26:58):
on was not really in doubt. And newpalce should why
they're the number one team in Class five A again, although
that sets up next week a number one versus number
two matchup at Kelso Stadium and newpal Dragons against a
Cathedral team that blew out Anderson tonight, and it's been
a matchup I think everybody.

Speaker 6 (27:17):
Has been expecting was likely.

Speaker 13 (27:20):
To happen in the sectional. Does a matter of what
happened tonight or next week, the draw has it happening
next week, but that should be an absolutely dynamite game between.

Speaker 2 (27:30):
Two of the best defenses in the state.

Speaker 13 (27:32):
In any class, and obviously two very good offensive teams
as well, and it should be a lot of fun
next Friday at Kelso Stadium, Number one versus number two
New Palind Cathedral matching up.

Speaker 1 (27:47):
Andrew Smith from the crosscom Communications New Palestine forty two
seven winners over Playing Field. Andrew, thanks so much for
the call. I have a great week.

Speaker 13 (27:56):
Thank you you too.

Speaker 1 (27:58):
South Putnam Beach found in Central tonight forty five to
seven with me head coaches South Puttingham, Chuck, Searl Chuck,
thanks so much for the call. Congratulations on the win.

Speaker 6 (28:09):
Thanks coach.

Speaker 13 (28:10):
You know, long trip to Fountain Central from South Puttenham
to night, but yeah, you know, we got off the
bus and we took care of business and and you
know that's what we talked about was winning the week.
And you know, I told our guys that that the
game's gonna be one kind of like they just talked
about to the with the newpal guy at the line
of shrimmage, and I you know, for the most part,
we won the line of scrimmage all night and we
beat a pretty.

Speaker 6 (28:30):
Good Fountain Central team by yeah coach by herb Tea.

Speaker 1 (28:33):
Yeah, well you are a team that seems built to
be able to survive conditions and other teams.

Speaker 2 (28:41):
You've got a well put together group.

Speaker 6 (28:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 13 (28:45):
We had you know, both running backs tonight, Briar Cook
and Tyd Dentton. We rushed for over three hundred yards.
I don't know the exact stats, but I know it
was getting up over three hundred, you know in the
third quarter there. We got our starters out in the
fourth quarter, but then you know, Drew Kleiner quarterback through
two forty yard touchdown passes.

Speaker 2 (29:04):
So we've got the.

Speaker 13 (29:04):
Ability to get you over the top with Branson. Branson
ens there and Blake went both called the passes for
so you know. But you know, the good part is
is our defense is.

Speaker 6 (29:15):
Playing strong this time of the year.

Speaker 13 (29:17):
Our starting defense is not giving up a score in
four weeks now. So you know, that's how you're gonna
win in the tournament. Run the ball effect it throw
the ball when you can and have real good defense.
And we need that in the next two or three
weeks if we.

Speaker 6 (29:30):
Want to keep advancing.

Speaker 1 (29:32):
Yeah, I think the thing that gets kind of lost
in this is as you point out what your defense
has been able to do. People know you're going to
score points. I think you do, your opponents do, but defensively,
people have to work hard to get in the end zone.

Speaker 13 (29:46):
Yeah, and you know we gave up because they come
at us with some quad looks and some empty stuff tonight.
And you know, our guys, our guys are getting old.
We've got a bunch of juniors playing defense. Probably eight
of them are juniors, and they just get better at
her each week.

Speaker 6 (30:00):
They're starting to.

Speaker 13 (30:01):
Realize, you know, where they need to line up, how
they get how they adjust it.

Speaker 6 (30:05):
And a lot of.

Speaker 13 (30:05):
Those guys are making the calls for us. And you know,
we gave up a couple first downs on the first drive.
I called a time out, you know, and you know
did a little head coaching, throw the clipboard and.

Speaker 6 (30:17):
Walk our guys up.

Speaker 13 (30:18):
We got a sack, we got to tackle for lost
and we can't.

Speaker 6 (30:21):
Kept them out of the end zone. And you know,
after that, our offense took over. But I mean, you
know that.

Speaker 13 (30:25):
That's what you gotta be. You can't give up. You
can't give up scores. You know, even if you you
want teams to drive it. We we've not allowed big
plays in weeks now, and we just got to continue
to do that and make teams drive on us and
hopefully they make a mistake.

Speaker 6 (30:39):
Or we make a play when it matters.

Speaker 13 (30:41):
And you know, we play a really good Rivendon Park
team next week, and and they're gonna line up and
double tight in a wing and try to run it
down our throat, and we've got to We've got to
win the line of scrimmage again.

Speaker 1 (30:53):
Chuck Snorel from South Puttnam. They beat Frank Fountain Central
tonight forty five to seven.

Speaker 2 (30:58):
Chuck, thanks to the call. Good luck next week.

Speaker 6 (31:01):
Thank you go Eagles.

Speaker 1 (31:03):
Chris Stevens from decayted North Decatur. Excuse me, beats Night's
down thirty one eighteen tonight. Coach, thanks for the call.
Impressive win. Congratulations thanks coach.

Speaker 14 (31:14):
It was a it was a good program win for us.

Speaker 8 (31:16):
The solid team Coach Taylor.

Speaker 14 (31:18):
Coach Taylor's got a good program down there. Yeah, he's
building it the right way, and they got good, solid guys.
I thought our defense stepped up. We were pretty successful
on special teams as well. I mean we we moved
the ball and we needed to offensively.

Speaker 8 (31:32):
We got the scores, but you.

Speaker 14 (31:34):
Know, had a had a kickoff return in the second
half and went.

Speaker 8 (31:37):
For the went to the house.

Speaker 14 (31:39):
That's always a pluck when your special teams can can
step up like that.

Speaker 2 (31:44):
Who did that? Who scored that touchdown? Coach? Yeah? Who
was it took the.

Speaker 14 (31:50):
Yeah, that was Corbyn Thackery's senior, Corbyn Dockery. He's a.
He's a he's a he's a weapon man.

Speaker 6 (31:56):
He he's a three phases.

Speaker 8 (31:59):
Of the game guy, you know.

Speaker 14 (32:00):
I mean, he's he's an outstanding returner, you know, one
of he's our leading rusher. I think he's our leading receiver.

Speaker 8 (32:08):
I think he's.

Speaker 14 (32:09):
Our our one of our higher you know, number tacklers.
I mean, he's just a he's a solid young man
and a good athlete.

Speaker 13 (32:17):
And uh, it was.

Speaker 6 (32:18):
A but it was a good it was a good
effort for everybody.

Speaker 8 (32:20):
I mean, it was one.

Speaker 14 (32:22):
Of those situations where all the guys blocked the trap
the way we wanted.

Speaker 10 (32:25):
It to do.

Speaker 14 (32:26):
And it was something we've seen earlier in the week
and thought, you know, if they give us an opportunity,
you know, we.

Speaker 8 (32:33):
Got a chance here.

Speaker 14 (32:34):
And it was it was at a time when we
were the score was still you know, I mean, it
never got two out of hand, but it was it
was pretty close, and we knew, you know, realistically, they
weren't going to give us a short field, say that
we're going to have to kick it deep and uh,
you know, the stars aligned and it worked.

Speaker 2 (32:50):
So all right, who's up next week? Coach? Who do
you play next week?

Speaker 8 (32:58):
Next week? We got Mylin, uh.

Speaker 6 (33:00):
Familiar foe for us.

Speaker 14 (33:02):
I mean, I think this is our third or fourth
sectional championship game with Mylin. You know, it's back and forth.
It's teams that are very close to each other. We
know a lot about each other. We played them earlier
in the in the regular season, so it's always a
good football game. I mean, it comes it comes down to,

(33:24):
you know, two three points every time we play them.
So we've got to have a good week, get really
focused and and uh right, it should be a good
football game.

Speaker 1 (33:33):
All right, coach, we gotta go. Chris Stevens and North
to Cator. North to Cator beats Nights Down thirty one eighteen.
Thanks for the call, coach, Good luck next week.

Speaker 14 (33:42):
Thanks appreciate you, guys.

Speaker 3 (33:44):
I'm Brendan King with this network. Indiana scoreboard update here
on Indiana Sports Talk. Scooting up to Class six A
Sectional number one has come to a close for the night.
From the region, it was Crown Point defeating Lake Central
thirty five to seven. Crown Point, who is at Lucas
Soil Stadium just a couple of years ago, for a
state championship. Their next test, the Penn Kingsman. Penn blows

(34:07):
out Portage tonight fifty five to seven. Crown Point Penn
for a sectional championship next week. How about in Sectional
five Avon, the Orioles move forward with a twenty three
to twenty one victory over Ben Davis. As that goes
down to the wire. Avon's next test the Brownsburg Bulldogs,
a very familiar matchup there for both the O's and

(34:30):
the Bulldogs. Brownsburg over Pike Tonight forty three to fourteen.
In Sectional six, Decatur Central handles North Central of Indianapolis
forty two to twenty one. And it was Laurence Central
by a pair over Lawrence North twenty six twenty four.
As Greg Rigstraw told you a little bit earlier, LC
wins that one on a fumble recovery touchdown in the

(34:53):
end zone Laurence Central Decatur Central a week from tonight
closing out Our six. A peek here with Sectional eight.
Center Grove shut out Jeffersonville forty eight to nothing, and
it was Franklin Central by a touchdown over Columbus North
forty two thirty five Center Grove Franklin Central a week
from tonight, quickly dipping in a Class five A out

(35:16):
of Sectional ten, Michigan City earned the victory over Valparaiso
thirty five seven. It was also Laporte by a field
go over Chesterton twenty to seventeen. Laporte battles Michigan City
a week from tonight. I'm Brendan King.

Speaker 2 (35:31):
Welcome back everyone.

Speaker 1 (35:33):
Let's talk some sectional action high school football tonight Martin
Zelle Beach Charlestown fifty two to twenty with me the
head coach of the Artesians, Brian Duggar, coach, thank you
so much for the call.

Speaker 2 (35:45):
Congratulations on the win.

Speaker 9 (35:47):
Hey appreciate it, Bob. Yeah, good win for the Artesians.
Anytime you win in sectional time, it's always a good thing.

Speaker 11 (35:54):
Yea.

Speaker 9 (35:55):
So go want to know and get a chance to
play for a trophy next week.

Speaker 2 (35:59):
That's the idea. That's why, that's why we do what
we do. Uh.

Speaker 1 (36:03):
I'm assuming though, you you get a good start and
h and are in control of this game most of
the way.

Speaker 13 (36:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (36:11):
We we did a really good job of starting fast.
Our defense got a three and out to start the game.
And Charlestown's had a great year this year and put
up a lot of numbers uh on offense. So for
our defense to play the way they did early was awesome.
Went down scored.

Speaker 10 (36:26):
Uh.

Speaker 9 (36:26):
We we just we're really efficient tonight and and really
solid on offense. Uh, kind of clicking on all cylinders.
I know, Lucas Dewey led us tonight, rushing into the
night with four touchdowns, but uh, Lannon Casey made some
great catches for us, had a couple of touchdowns himself.
We were just really really sharp on offense. And again,
like I said, our defense was really good against the

(36:46):
good Charlestown offense tonight.

Speaker 2 (36:48):
It's a Charlestown It's a great point. And I've talked
with the coach.

Speaker 1 (36:52):
Uh in the last couple of weeks, they've been putting
up points against a lot of people.

Speaker 9 (36:58):
Yeah, they've they've there's so much improved coach, he's done
a great job this year. There's so much improved from
last year. Uh, they're just they're running really good stuff
and he's doing a great job. And they're they're they're
they're a problem and they're gonna be a problem going
forward the next few years just because he's putting them
in good spots. And uh, we had to be really,
really disciplined and really good tonight.

Speaker 2 (37:18):
All right.

Speaker 1 (37:18):
Who were were your game changers tonight, coach?

Speaker 9 (37:23):
Well, defensively, I mean offensively it was Lucas, Dewey and
Land and Casey were really good.

Speaker 8 (37:28):
Uh.

Speaker 9 (37:28):
Joel Sumner on defense was awesome for us. He blocked
a punt early in the game as well. We were
we just we really played uh what we like to
call our brand of football. Uh and we emphasized and
we we did that really well tonight in all three phases.
And it was just it was good to see, Uh,
the ar Teasians play our brand of football.

Speaker 2 (37:47):
Who are you playing next week?

Speaker 9 (37:49):
So we've got a we got a really good bed
for North Lawrence Kington, I think skinning as they beat
they beat Shelbyville tonight. You know they got us in
week one obviously, We don't feel like we played very
well in that game. Anytime he turned the ball over
five times and have fifteen penalties, you don't you don't
have a great chance to win the game. But not
taking anyway from from Bedford, because they've had a great

(38:11):
year and coach kids done a great job there and
they're going to be a handful on Friday night. But
luckily it's at cider Witsfield and hopefully the crowd will
be going and to be a great game for a championship.

Speaker 1 (38:22):
Martin Zill Tonight fifty two twenty winners over Charlestown Brian Duggar,
thanks for the call.

Speaker 2 (38:28):
Good luck next week.

Speaker 9 (38:30):
Hey, thanks Bob, thanks for all you do.

Speaker 1 (38:32):
I appreciate it very much. The legend. Fred Endinger from
wa WK joins me. East Noble thirty five twenty eight
winners over four weeing south Side. Fred, what a great game,
great win for East Noble tonight.

Speaker 8 (38:48):
Well was you know, we're right pretty high number two
and I'm not sure that that's where it is. We
linked in with the victory. I told you last week
how we've lost starters that started against newal on the
championship game last year and then we had two players
go down. Now I have two hundred coaches out there saying, well,
don't tell me about injuries. We have them too, and

(39:08):
that's part of the game. But you know, last year,
the medical gods were on our side when we went
there all the way to Lucas Oil. We didn't have
any major injuries and we had people to This year
is just the opposite, and we were playing with a
lot of young kids. Our start tonight was our quarterback,
right A Biddle. He scored all five testdowns. He runs

(39:30):
the options and he's gonna be playing in the Max
next week, our next year because he had several options
there and he hasn't decided which one yet, but an
Ecto player. But we were down there. You know, even
though we have over one hundred kids in our program,
we had a lot of inexperience. Our kids that were
in the championship game last year, we have five of
them that didn't play tonight, and so we're just very

(39:52):
fortunate to beat South Side. They practiced too. I don't
know if you know that they practiced too, and they
watched the film and they scout and and they came
very prepared. You know, so many times I hear coaches say,
well we didn't play well, well.

Speaker 1 (40:05):
Probably yes, fred a, fred Fred, I need you to
hang on through this short break.

Speaker 8 (40:11):
Okay, how about short long, whatever, It's just nice. That's
all all right.

Speaker 2 (40:15):
I appreciate it. We'll come back.

Speaker 1 (40:17):
Short break talk more football on Indiana Sports Talk. Welcome
back everyone on Bob Lovell.

Speaker 2 (40:23):
This is Indiana Sports Talk.

Speaker 1 (40:24):
Before the break, Fred Inger from WAWK and I were
talking about East Nobles thirty five twenty eight win over
four wins south Side.

Speaker 2 (40:33):
Fred go back.

Speaker 1 (40:34):
And tell me, I mean it's a one score, one
possession win win.

Speaker 2 (40:38):
Does East Noble score the winning touchdown?

Speaker 8 (40:42):
Well, it started out back and forth. We are at
fourteen thirteen and a halftime. We got the ball, went
up twenty one thirteen, then they made it twenty month twenty.
We got the they tied it up with fifty two
seconds to go twenty eight twenty eight. We barched down
the field and scored. Took forty seconds a great pass
Biddle to Philips and uh we went down to the

(41:06):
fifteen and so we were just running the ball but
trying to get maybe a field goal position. But Ry
Biddle got a shift touchdown run with twenty two seconds
to go, So we scored was just twenty two seconds
to go. And like I said, south Side, you know
they only got beat a touchdown by Fort Wayne Bishop Lewers,
and you know all their history. But we're gonna get

(41:28):
the most important person on our team this week is
going to be the doctors. We're gonna have to get help.
We played dish Ap Swinger and they're not at two.
They won these lead tonight and they opened up the
season of crazy score. They got beat by Ron Colly
three to nothing, and then from that point their defense
has been good all year and their offense is getting better.

(41:49):
But we're gonna have to come back and play hard
at that Dwinger and we've had a good year even
though we're eleven to zero. We we're gonna have to
get the people healthy and play our best game if
we want to come up and win a sectional. Guest Winger, Now,
we beat them in the championship game last year, right sectional.
Obviously they're hungry, but we're not the same team that

(42:09):
we were last year.

Speaker 2 (42:12):
So go ahead, go ahead.

Speaker 8 (42:16):
Well, I'll just say that they had a lot of
young people and with our health situation, it's going to
be a knockdown, drag out affair. But uh, you know,
like Yogi Beart said, it ain't over to us over.
You got to play them on the field. And we've
had a good year and uh, you know, we hope
we can keep it going next week. But at four
Wayne's winger will be tough and uh but that's why

(42:37):
you play them on the field, isn't it right?

Speaker 1 (42:40):
That's why tonight the East Noble thirty five twenty eight
winners over for wins south Side fred Inger. Thank you,
fred to have a great week. We'll talk to you
next weekend, all right, and.

Speaker 8 (42:50):
Again I keep telling you Northeast Indiana they use our
station to hear you. And of course Greg rag'sall on
Innapolis coach with all you legends down there, Andrew Smith
with me, be a few people we wouldn't know what's
going down on. Well, thank you and don't take it lightly,
don't I don't.

Speaker 1 (43:09):
I appreciate it. Thank you, Fret, Thanks very much. Brian
Sullivan joins me from w n ASCs the Providence thirty
five to fourteen win over Springs Valley. Brian, you got
a minute here to start, Uh, give me a give
me a ten thousand foot view. If that's okay, I'll.

Speaker 8 (43:28):
Tell you what this.

Speaker 13 (43:29):
Two weeks in a row, I have called and thought
that we were going to have a nail bier right
to the finish, and right did not work out that way.
Providence of the defending one A state champ. Springs Valley
was undefeated and ranked number one going into sectionals. Uh.
But Providence, it was close for about a half and
then big big shift there at the end of the

(43:50):
first half. But I'll tell you about after the break.

Speaker 2 (43:53):
You are professional. My friends.

Speaker 1 (43:58):
Brian Sullivan and I'll come back into Ox and Moore
football after this break.
