(01:54):
number two, the only home preseason game the Colts will have.
And here's head coach Shane Steiken on when he should
have an idea of who will start for Indianapolis Week
one against Miami.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
We'll work through that, you know, we got obviously had today,
we got a preseason game, and we got some practices.
Next week and we'll work through it again. I don't
have exact timetable on it, but sooner than later it
would be nice.
Speaker 4 (02:15):
You will tell us how I said. But do you
do you fink you know where you're going with this?
I don't.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
I mean, I want to see how this thing plays
out on Saturday, and then we'll see, you know, early
the next week and see where it goes.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
Still kind of keeping the blanket over the treasure chest
with the name written over and again. That's head coach
Shane Stikeen on the goals YouTube page. Colton Packers will
face off at one o'clock tomorrow. As for Anthony Richardson,
he also has no clue who will start Week one
against Green Bay.
Speaker 5 (02:46):
I mean they still haven't said who was the quarterback. Yeah,
so pretty much they stead up in the air. So
I'm just trying to do my job, you know, do
everything I can to help myself win his job, and
then you know, anything the team needs for me. You know,
I'm pretty much open and avdable to helping out any
sort of way. So just trying to do my part
and just let everybody else make the decision.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
Again. Colts and Packers preseason Game number two will take
place at one o'clock tomorrow. Reminder, there is some traffic
that is going on because of construction here in central Indiana,
so playing accordingly if you're on your way to the game.
Anyan Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle gave an update on
(03:26):
Tyrese Haliburn. This coming from the Fan Morning Show on
ninety three five and one oh seven five to.
Speaker 6 (03:31):
The Fan, Yeah, I have spoken to him recently. I've
spoke him to him quite a few times this summer.
He's in he's in great spirits.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
He's just you.
Speaker 6 (03:41):
Know, he always has a positive outlook on things. And
you guys saw where he and his girlfriend Jay got engaged.
That was pretty spectacular event that you know, they head
over social media, which is pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Again, is Red Carlisle on the Fan Morning Show on
ninety three to five, one oh seven five the Fan
Here in Indianapolis, The Pacers open up the twenty twenty

but make sure you stay tuned. More updates coming every
fifteen minutes. I'm corpor Lingenfelter.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
Welcome back everyone, Culture and Action tomorrow taking on the
Green Bay Packers. The man, the voice, the best at
what he does. I love him for a lot of reasons,
not the least of which he's really good at what
he does. Is Matt Taylor from the Indianapolis called Hello, Matt, Hey, Bob,
(05:04):
how are you? You know, one of the great joys
in my life? Today in my car and I catch
you on the radio talking about this game. So now
I'm an expert about the game tomorrow because I heard
you in action. Thank you so much for that.
Speaker 7 (05:22):
Well, I don't know what you took away, but I'm
here to serve whatever you need. That's what you need.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
Well, I appreciate that what I took away was this
is a team that's got a few things to clean up,
like all teams, and that we still don't have a
number one at quarterback, and that like what's happening here
are the things that drive sports fans crazy. When's Caitlin
coming back? Who's the number one quarterback?
Speaker 7 (05:53):
And I get why people are frustrated because we all
it's human natural that you know, want answers and and
one of now and uh so I get it. This
is the last thing Colts fans, uh, you know, want
to be dealing with since uh Andrew lux retirement. It's
sort of has sort of been, you know, uh a carousel.
(06:14):
There's no yeah, so, I mean, you know, I think
the Colts are actually one of only three teams right
now if I'm not mistaken, Bob where the they don't
know who's going to play quarterback? And I think it's
the Browns and I read somebody else. But certainly it's
one of those things where they got to get it
figured out sooner than later. That's what Shane steike Can
(06:35):
alluded to yesterday the training camp. Uh and I think
tomorrow's game, preseason game number two home game against the
Packers is going to go a long way in uh
in determining this because it's pretty neck and neck. Both
guys have had their ups and downs, and you know,
weirdly when both guys, or I should say, when one
guy plays well in camp, the other guy matches it,
(06:58):
and when one guy's down, it seems like they're both
kind of down at the same time. I don't know
if there's anything to that or not, but that's just
kind of the way it's played out so far. So
you know, I've seen every throw of every practice, and
if you ask me right now who's gonna start, I
couldn't tell you because definitively, neither guy has really separated themselves.
(07:20):
You know, to this point for camp, Daniel Jones is
around seventy percent. Anthony Richardson is around sixty percent. But
as we all know, Anthony gives you a whole different
dynamic than Daniel. Not that Daniel's not athletic and he
doesn't have you know, running traits to him, but I mean,
Anthony Richardson is just on a whole different level, and
(07:40):
you know, throws a really good deep ball and it's
a little bit more dynamic down the field and the
big playability, So you kind of have to factor that
all in and then, like I've said, really, you know,
for a month, I think it's gonna boil down to
just gut feeling. You know, you're gonna have to just
ask yourself and look look at yourself in the mirror.
If you're Shane Snychin or Chris Vall, you're gonna have
(08:01):
to say, Okay, is Anthony Richardson closer to being the
guy that we thought he could be potential wise when
we drafted him fourth overall? Or is Daniel Jones closer
to being the quarterback version of his success in twenty
twenty two when he had his best year in the NFL.
Speaker 8 (08:16):
With the Giants.
Speaker 7 (08:17):
And you know, again, I think you're just gonna have
to go with a gut feel and trust you know
at the beginning of the season, which guy gives you
the best chance to win?
Speaker 1 (08:24):
That said, is tomorrow make or break in terms of
making a decision, I don't think so.
Speaker 7 (08:31):
I mean a lot of people do, and maybe I'll
be wrong about that, but I wouldn't be shocked, Bob
to see the Colts play this out all the way
through next Saturday when they closed out the preseason against
the Bables, right, and even at that, they still got
more time because they don't have to make roster cuts
until the twenty sixth, and they don't play a regular
season game until September seventh. So I know that'll drive
(08:52):
people absolutely bonkers. But from a from a gamesmanship standpoint,
why would you tip your hand if you didn't have to,
you know, going against the Dolphins in that first game.
So I mean, I don't think that'll happen. But I
do think that the Colts are going to, you know,
take their time on this because it's such an important
(09:13):
decision to make because ideally, you want to pick the
one guy and go with that guy that gives you
the best, you know, consistent opportunity to play well at
quarterback because that's what this team needs. I've said it
over and over and over, but this was a playoff
team last year. Even though the defense was not good.
Listen out, I'll call a spade a s fate.
Speaker 8 (09:34):
It wasn't good.
Speaker 7 (09:35):
It was you know, bottom bottom third of the NFL.
It was ranked in the low twenties and a lot
of important categories. Even with that defense, it was still
a playoff team if you have more consistent quarterback play.
And I hate to say it's all about one guy
in one position, but you know, we know in the
NFL it's it's that important. So they're trying to get
this decision right as they're going to the season.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
Having said that, I'm not trying to complicate it's this issue,
but correct me if I'm wrong here. You know you
have plenty of opportunities. Are the ones going to be
playing a lot together? So if they're not, then why
would you care how much time whether you start one
or the other? As you pointed out, you still have time. Well,
(10:19):
you know what, Matt, I'm sorry, Matt, I'm sorry. Hang on,
I asked a question. I'm just not a very good
host right now. Hang on through this break and we'll
come back and I'll let you answer that question. Okay,
you got it, perfect, Matt Taylor or and not come
back on India's Sports Tuck.
Speaker 2 (10:35):

Welcome back everyone. Matt Taylor and I continue our conversation
talking about the Colts their matchup with the Packers tomorrow
at one o'clock at Lucas Oil Stadium. Leave now because
traffic will be a mess, So just get there. Leave
as early as you can. Frankly, that's pretty good advice,
is it.
Speaker 7 (12:41):
Not, Matt, I mean, it really is. I was downtown today,
Bob for the Colts kickoff launching at the JW. Marriott
and me trying to get home like was a game
pack right, especially coming south.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
It's when I have a I'll just tell you big store.
I was doing THESA State Finals in baseball and I
came out of I came out of the parking lot,
went down West Street. Didn't realize what I was going
to get into because I'm never downtown, and so I
take West Street and then recognize that we'll wait. So
I go ahead, get on the interstate and don't recognize
(13:19):
that I'm gonna I end up getting ready to get
on four sixty five on the east side of town,
right because there's no way to go south and then
I recognize where I am. I go down Emerson, I
try to hit ram, I hit Raymond Street, go to Raymond.
I can't get on Raymond, So then I go ahead
and continue on down. I find myself down at Southern
(13:40):
Plaza and finally finally get on four sixty. If that's
how I get home. So all right, I asked you
before the break, and we're talking about the quarterback situation. Uh,
you know what, let's do this. Let's talk about something else.
Just's quarterback situation is gonna take care of it. Well,
(14:00):
nothing you and I talk about tonight. It all depends
on what happens. They're gonna play tomorrow. We hope they
play well and make this a more interesting thing. But
beyond the quarterback situation, they still have some things to
clean up, you know, in their their matcha their earlier
scrimmage with with Green Bay. Some drop passes, some penalties,
those kinds of mental type things are problems.
Speaker 7 (14:23):
Yeah, I mean that the joint practice yesterday was unfortunate
because well, first of all, on one layer. It was
the last practice of training camp at Grand Park in
front of the fans, So it's kind of a sour
taste to end that that part of the visibility to
see the fans or to see the team at that
Grant Park. But secondly, yeah, what what could have gone
(14:43):
wrong malfunction wise on offense did yesterday? You had pre
snap penalties, illegal formations, you had protection issues, a lot
of pressure on Colts quarterbacks. You had you know, inaccuracy,
you had drop passes, you had you know, things that
led the turnovers. It was just, you know, Shane Stike
(15:04):
and said it, you know very well after practice. It
was kind of a stressful day watching all the air offense.
But listen, that's life. You know, football is the microcosm
of life and things that need to be cleaned up,
and it's never going to be perfect.
Speaker 8 (15:19):
Now.
Speaker 7 (15:19):
On the other hand, defensively, on the other field, the
Colts defense against the Packers, they they were dominant. They
were equally as dominant and stifled. You know, a backup
quarterback and Malik Willis. You didn't have Jordan Love. He's
dealing with a thumb injury. He's not going to play tomorrow.
I mean I was watching that period for like twenty minutes,
eleven on eleven wise, and I think the Packers completed
like one pass in that time frame, like, the Colts
(15:41):
just dominated, So you know that that was good to see.
But as it relates to tomorrow, you know, the Packers,
from what I understand, are not going to play any
of their starters following a joint practice and they're really
banged up too, by the way, right right still there,
They're not going to play their frontline guys. I don't
think the Colts are at least for a quarter, and
Anthony Richardson's going to play until the end of the
(16:04):
first half after Daniel Jones gets the first couple of
series of the game. So in that first fifteen minutes tomorrow, Bob,
I want to see domination, right do I want to
see the Colts take it to the Packers twos and
threes for the first quarter of the game, because that's
what should happen. You know, I neither teams really scheme
(16:25):
up for one another. You're just gonna go out there
and play football. You know, the offensive line is going
to have to, you know, get a push, the defensive
line is going to have to get off blocks, so
on and so forth. So it's just going to be
good on good or in this case, the Colts ones
versus the Packers, you know, reserves, and they should dominate
and that's what I want to see. If they don't,
(16:45):
I'm going to be concerned about that. And I want
to see a clean brand of football from the Colts
quarterbacks with Jones starting the game, you know, move the
ball and get in and out of a third and
short situations, hopefully be good inside the reds. And then
for Anthony Richardson when he gets into the game, and
that's that's kind of what we were talking about before
(17:05):
the break, is just if Anthony Richardson comes in and
looks good, you have to ask yourself, well, he's doing
it against number two's and perhaps number three's towards the
end of the first half, towards halftime, Like, how do
you how do you wait that, how do you you know,
assess this situation, because you want him to look good,
But if he does, there's this caveat of well, who's
(17:27):
he doing it against? So that that's what makes it
so tricky. And that's why Shane Steichen and Chris Ballard
and Carly Ursa Gordon and the other offensive coaches, they're
just gonna have to go with the entire body of
work but I think at the end of the day,
they're just gonna have to go with their gut feel
on who they trust the most early in the season.
Speaker 1 (17:47):
He's Matt Taylor. He is the voice of the Indianapolis Colts.
Colts in action tomorrow against Green Bay at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Get their early Matt, and I appreciate it. Great, have
fun tomorrow, and we'll do this again soon.
Speaker 7 (18:03):
All right, I think I'm heading out for the stadium
right now. You got all this traffic here.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
All right, brother, good call, Thanks Matt, Matt Taylor, the Colts. Seriously,
we're not trying to make a light of this. If
you are coming in from out of town, especially on
the south side of town, you need to plan on
some extra minutes in the car. It's not going to
be easy for you. Next week, high school football literally
(18:30):
kicks off. Sorry for the you know, the cheap, cheap metaphor.
The Commissioner of the IHSAA, Paul Knighty, joins US commissioner,
thanks for taking time to join me, and I know
you're ready. I am absolutely ready. I wish we'd hurry
up and get ready to play football next week.
Speaker 8 (18:48):
I have coach it's good to be with you for
this year. Another chapter and the old history history of
the Indy Oskoe Leg Association is going to kick off
on Friday night next week and we're ready, and I'm
with you. I'm ready. It's been a it's been a
great summer. A coach has been out working hard with
our kids, and you know, they've been seven on sevens
(19:08):
and you know, we allow some contact during the summer,
and you know tonight they're they're spread out across the
street and they're making sure the light's turned on because
they're scrimmaging too.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
They've spoken like a true administrator making sure the lights work.
That's that's but that's perfect that they are. And you
know it back one hundred years ago when I played,
we had the jamboree format. Things have you know, evolved.
Now you've got scrimmage and those kinds of things. And uh,
it's the idea is everybody's going to be able to
(19:41):
hit somebody wearing a different colored jersey than what they
have in these previous weeks, and weather's been hot. It's
been unbelievably hot and humid for everybody. And I'm hopeful
that health wise, we're all good around the state.
Speaker 8 (19:55):
Yeah, you know, we keep very close tabs on that.
And you know, we've we've learned so much more over
history when uh, when we train athletes and we we
we know to take the breaks. And you know, you
don't you known't, you don't you don't treat student athletes
where they used to many years ago, where you gave
them salt and water was weak. And now you know,
(20:17):
our coaches do such a great job with with managing
student athletes and making sure they're they're well conditioned, they're safe,
Our athletic trainers are there. We have all kinds of
technology now that helps us keep students safe. And you know,
we're we we've been able to weather the storm, so
to speak of eating. It looks like we're gonna catch
(20:37):
a little break this next week with the weather cooling down.
And next Friday night, I hope it's hope it's in
the seventies and and no rain and just a beautiful
night across this great state.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
Yeah, the concept of rain is so important to be
able to play games in good weather, to allow people
to come out. Because you and I have talked about before,
and I think people recognize it when we need to
emphasize it more and more. And the financial support that
people give by buying tickets to go to events can't
(21:13):
be stressed any more than we do, because literally, those
Friday night gate receipts provide the opportunities for student athletes
across our state. It's always great, and we have good weather.
Speaker 8 (21:27):
It is, it is, and you know, Coach, those receipts
are so important because you know, most of our athletic departments,
well all of them operate their general athletic departments as
far as things for the students' uniforms and meals, the
travelers transportation. They do that without tax dollars. They do
that based on the money that they receive on Friday night,
but it also supports everything else that they do. We're
(21:48):
kicking off tomorrow with cross country and volleyball and boys
and girls soccer and boys tennises tomorrow and girls golf
is going on and all those other sports are in
need of the money that we received through get receiver.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
Right, Hey, Paul, I need you to hang on do
this scoreboard update. We'll come back and talk more with
the Commission of the HSAA here on Indiana Sports done.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
I'm corby Lincoln Pelter with this network Indiana scoreboard update.
Indiana Fever fall tonight eighty eight to eighty four to
the Washington Mystics. Aliah Boston led the team in scoring
with twenty points, followed by Kelsey Mitchell who had fourteen,
Natasha Howard had eleven, Odyssey Smith recently sign excuse me,
(22:36):
Odyssey Simms recently signed scored eleven, and Demarus Dantes scored
ten points. That's all the double digit scores for this game. Tonight.
Boston went eight of thirteen from the field, four to
six from the charity stripe, nine rebounds, one rebound away
from finishing with a double double. Fever shot forty five
(22:59):
percent from the field, thirty three percent from beyond the arc,
and hit sixty eight percent of their free throws. As
for the Washington Mystics, it was a game of being
able to make shots fifty two percent from the field,
forty seven percent from the three point range, and eighty
four percent of their free throws. They went there twenty
(23:22):
six times. The Fever only went sixteen. High school football
kicks off next week. We're currently talking to the Commissioner
Paul Nidig South Adams is at Marion Local, Ohio. South
Bend Riley is at ham and Noll. South Bend Washington
is at Hammond. Central. South Dearborn is at Jennings County.
(23:42):
South Decatur is at North Decatur. North Putnam hosts South
Putnam and Heritage Hills is hosting South Spencer, Wespego and
South Familion. We'll meet next Friday. Southern Wales is at Elwood,
Southport is at Franklin, South Ridge is at North Posey,
and Spaulding is at Brownsburg.
Speaker 1 (24:01):
Welcome back everyone. This is Indiana Sports Stuff, brought to
you by Indiana Donor Network. The commissioner of the ISSA,
Paul Knighting, rejoins me. Commissioner, nothing like Opening Night next week,
and it's just kind of kind of fun, and I
continue to be amazed at the number of great teams
we have. Later on tonight, Paul Condrey and I are
going to talk about it, and quite frankly, in previous
(24:24):
conversations with him, he believes this may be his wide
open a season in football as we've had in quite
a while.
Speaker 8 (24:30):
Well, that's uh, you know, from from my seat, coach,
that's always we want parody across the state. We want
great competitive games on Friday night, and you know, we
all want we want them to win them all, but
that's not the way it works. And you know, there's
somebody going to win next Frida night, somebody right lose
and they're going to go back to work and get
better and teach kids to be resilient. And that's kind
(24:52):
of what we do. But you know, I, you know,
I haven't studied it like you and coach has it
this time as far as just who's got the out,
But we'll kind of work on that this week a
little bit. But we always, uh, you know, I appreciate
parody because it just it's also a tribute to the
coaches out there right that they're doing doing the work
(25:12):
every day with these kids and trying to develop and
making the best that they can be.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
In addition to the parody, Paul's also kind of amazed
at some big time, big time recruits in our state.
We continue to grow in terms of the numbers of
those kids who were recruited by Power five conferences around
the country, which is an indication what you just talked
about is the great coaching and great dedication to those kids.
Speaker 8 (25:38):
Yeah, we see kids doing great things on the national
stage and a lot of sports, but you know, football
certainly not after that. You know, there's several several kids
playing on Sunday that were high school athletes in the state,
and you know, and we're going to We're going to
see what this year brings. And I know there will
be kids that graduated last year doing great things. They
(25:59):
are going to be kids graduate this next year. They
are even going to do better things, and so we're
excited about that.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
He's the commissioner of the ISSAA. It's Paul Knighting, Commissioner.
As always, I appreciate you joining me, staying up late
and talking ball. Have a tremendous weekend, and have a
great Friday night next week, all.
Speaker 8 (26:19):
Right, coach, you have the same and we'll talk again soon.
I'm sure I'll.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
Look forward to it. Thank you, Thank you very much,
the Commissioner, Paul Knighting, the commission of the ISSA Minor
League Baseball. Tonight, Indianapolis Indians eight five winners over Memphis.
The legendary voice of the Indians, Hall of Fame broadcaster
Howard Kelman joins me, Great Nate, a great night for
the Indians tonight, Paul Howard.
Speaker 9 (26:44):
Yes, Bob, it's a huge night for the Indians. They
defeat scrant and Wilkesbury six to five and ten innings,
and I tell you that win coupled with Syracuse's loss,
and the Indians are three games behind both scrant In
Wolfsbury and Syracuse in the battle for first place. When
(27:04):
this four game series, When this six game series began,
we've played four of them, the Indians were five games
behind both Syracuse and scrant and Wolfsbury. The Indians have
won three of the first four, while Syracuse has lost
three or four to Rochester. So they're right in this thing.
They've made a move. It's a crucial series. Two games
(27:26):
remaining and they're only three games out of first place.
But again they have to catch two teams.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
I appreciate you not embarrassing me and telling me that
I had the wrong score because I was looking at
the wrong date. But still, the Indians have a great night.
Tell me how they do this tonight.
Speaker 9 (27:45):
Well, Matt Fraser was the big star for the Indians.
He had the game winning hit and he threw out
the potential time running a play at the plate in
the bottom half of the tenth inning. Matt Fraser is
a great story. He wasn't given a job, but he
played so hard he forced their hand and he won
an everyday job. So just a great night for him.
(28:07):
A big two run triple by g Wan Bay, and
they battled. The game was over three hours and it
had twists and turns. The Indians led one nothing, the
rail Riders led three to one. Indians came back, led
four to three, five to three. Scranton got two runs
in the eighth thing to tie it, the tying run
(28:30):
on a book. In fact, this is crazy Bob. Twice
tonight Scranton got runs on a book with a man
at third. The Indians pitcher booked, allowing the runs to score.
But the Indians got that winning run in the tenth
on a line single the left by Matt Fraser.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
Big night, big crowd, Indians, Howard running out of games?
Are we not? It's getting to that point.
Speaker 9 (28:55):
A year, yes, thirty two games left. The Indians are
back home a week from Tuesday. They begin there. They
have two homestands left, the first of which begins a
week from Tuesday against Buffalo, a six gamer, then on
the road to Columbus. First six back home for six
more and then finishing Gwinnette. So you gotta finish first
(29:18):
out of twenty teams. It's not easy.
Speaker 4 (29:21):
Now.
Speaker 9 (29:22):
Jacksonville won the first half, they finished first out of
twenty games, and as we said in this second half,
Scranton Wilkesbury and Syracuse both three games ahead of the
Indians thirty two games to play.
Speaker 1 (29:37):
Pick up a game tomorrow, Howard Kelman, Indianapolis Indians winners
tonight Scranton Wilkesbury dramatic fashion at the end, Howard. Always
great to talk to you. Talk to you tomorrow night.
Thanks for the.
Speaker 9 (29:50):
Call, Bob, as always, thank you very much.
Speaker 1 (29:54):
Thank you. High school football starts next Friday. A man
who's going to be extremely busy. I believe the best
at what he does. That's Kyle neddn Rip from the
Indianapolis Star.
Speaker 4 (30:05):
Hello Kyle, Hello Bob. How are you this evening?
Speaker 1 (30:09):
I'm not as well as you are, but I'm okay, brother,
I am doing. I'm doing okay. Are you ready for
next Friday?
Speaker 4 (30:16):
You know, I skirm me just go.
Speaker 10 (30:17):
Not entirely interesting, really, but at least give us a
little bit of a dry run and the chance to
watch a little bit of football.
Speaker 1 (30:25):
You know, it's Uh, I'm old enough to have played
in the Jamboree system. You've been around enough to understand
that system. It was, you know, we didn't know any better.
For heaven's sake. I mean, let me, let's face it.
Then the game has made tremendous progress since then. But
it's good to be I mentioned this with the commissioner.
You just a chance to go hit somebody else other
(30:48):
than your teammates and find out, uh, if you're on
the right track, if some of the things. You know,
you have questions and have things to clean up. But
are you making the progress, are you going in the
right direction with what you're trying to do. Is why
you need to go play somebody else.
Speaker 10 (31:05):
Yeah, I mean, and it is, uh, you know, it's
it's it's a chance to kind of measure where you're at.
And I was out at Sheridan tonight watching Sheridan Crawfordsville,
and I was talking to Jake Chesney after the game,
Sheridan's coach, and you know, they you know, they didn't
get a.
Speaker 4 (31:20):
Chance to really scrimmage.
Speaker 10 (31:21):
It's some weather stuff happened this summer. So it has
been a while since they'd really played anybody else, and
you know, so it's just a you know, kind of
a gauge.
Speaker 4 (31:30):
To, you know, see where you're at.
Speaker 10 (31:32):
And you know it doesn't mean anything in the long run,
but it's kind of a warm up to, uh, you know,
just kind.
Speaker 4 (31:38):
Of see see what's what you get stuff on film
and and you're able to.
Speaker 10 (31:42):
Go into week one at least with some.
Speaker 4 (31:43):
Sort of idea of of what you can do.
Speaker 10 (31:46):
So you know, it's it's a it serves a purpose
for sure, and uh, you know, it's you can't take everything.
Speaker 4 (31:52):
Out of it.
Speaker 10 (31:53):
You know, you don't want to make too many takeaways
from one from a from a scrimmage, but at least
gives you a chance to go through some stuff.
Speaker 1 (31:59):
Paul andre and I are going to talk later on tonight.
You know, he and I have talked for a long
time about this. I think we're both of an opinion
that unlike some of the last few years, there are
not there there aren't as many clear cut favorites throughout
the different classes as there seem to have been in
the last few years. This seems to be a little
(32:21):
more balanced and wide open situation this year.
Speaker 10 (32:25):
Yeah, and I think six A you know, in my opinion,
it sometimes feels that way sometimes doesn't. This is a
year where I think it might. You know, Brownsburg is
I think the champ until proven otherwise. They had a great,
great run last year, and they got a lot coming back.
But I really like, you know, in Center Grove and
those those teams played each other tonight, and you know
(32:45):
they scrimmage each other anyway, but those two might be
the you know, the maybe the two best teams or
teams that will be ranked really.
Speaker 4 (32:51):
Highly going in. But you know, you look down.
Speaker 10 (32:54):
The list and there's a lot of you know, Westfield's
been so strong. You know, you wonder how Carmel bounces
back with Kevin right there as coach. You know, so
there's a lot of teams in six A. You know,
you could go down and pick out a lot.
Speaker 4 (33:07):
I think that to your point. I think that they
have a chance.
Speaker 10 (33:10):
Lawrence North, you know, they lost a lot, but also
have a lot of talent back, so you know, and
then you get the cater coming in from five Aay,
so there's some things happening that are a little bit
different this year, you know. So yeah, I agree to
your point, and I think, you know, everyone in five
A is going to be looking at you know, New
pal Cathedral as that potential sectional showdown that that could
(33:33):
decide the whole thing. So but yeah, I would agree
to your point. I think it's it's a pretty wide
open season that as we get started here.
Speaker 1 (33:41):
Hand needs you to hang on through the short break.
Can you do that? Yeah, no problem, all right, Kyle
ned RiPP and I'll come back and talk more football.
Speaker 2 (33:48):
I'm Corby Lingo Pelter with this network. Indiana school Board
Update Indianapolis Green Bay preseason game number two coming up
tomorrow at one o'clock Eastern time. This is the only
home preseason game the Colts have. They have one more
coming up as well round out the preseason before they
(34:09):
start things against the Miami Dolphins on September seventh to
kick off the regular season. As for who's going to
be running the offense for the Colts in that week
one game, Anthony Richardson still has no idea who.
Speaker 5 (34:28):
Was the quarterback? Yeah, so pretty much they still up
in the air. So I'm just trying to do my job,
you know, do everything I can to help myself in
this job, and then you know, anything the team needs
for me, you know, I'm pretty much open and available
to helping them out any sort of way. So just
trying to do my part and just let everybody else
make the decision.
Speaker 2 (34:45):
Richardson is heading into year number three with the Colts
organization since being drafted back in twenty twenty two. Again,
the Colts take on the Packers at one o'clock Eastern
tomorrow for preseason game number two. Playing ahead because traffic
is a mess here in central Indiana, a lot of construction,
(35:07):
a lot of closures, so make sure you're leaving with
plenty of time so you don't miss a minute of
the action. And of course you can also listen to
the game with Matt Taylor and Rick Van Turry here
on ninety three five one of some five the fan
our flagship station or a station near you that's a
part of the Colts Radio Network. More high school football
(35:29):
games to talk about with Kyle Nedd and Rip. I'm
Corbin Lingolnfelter.
Speaker 1 (35:33):
Welcome back everyone. This is Indiana sportsof Frontie by Indiana
Donor Network v Kyle Neddon Rip Free choices from the
Indianapolis Store. I cannot imagine that some of you may
not have read his stuff in the Star and if
that's the case, you needed to change that immediately because
he's really, really, really good at what he does.
Speaker 4 (35:53):
All Right.
Speaker 1 (35:54):
You mentioned five AA with Cathedral and New Pal. I'm
with you, man, oh man, those are two really really
good football teams.
Speaker 10 (36:03):
Yeah, and we saw what Newpal did last year in
their run to the four A title. You know, they
were they're a juggernaut.
Speaker 4 (36:10):
Well, most of those guys.
Speaker 10 (36:11):
Are back for Kyle Raffs, so they are you know,
even even moving up a class. You know, I don't
know that you can't make them, you know, a favorite
or one of the one of the real favorites in
that class. You know, they played five A before. It's
not like they're this is something totally foreign to them.
So yeah, I heard that they had a good scrimmage tonight.
I'm not surprised. I think they're very well positioned to
(36:34):
make a good run.
Speaker 4 (36:35):
We'll find out early. And they played the Caterer in
the second game of the season. That was a game last.
Speaker 10 (36:40):
Year that was tied up at halftime and then they
didn't finish it because of that weird Week two weather
that we had.
Speaker 4 (36:46):
So that'll be a.
Speaker 10 (36:47):
Great matchup for both those teams, So looking forward to
seeing how that one goes.
Speaker 4 (36:52):
And you know, and then.
Speaker 10 (36:53):
Cathedral, you know, Bill Peebles, they do, you know, a
great job every year. Theress team that's competed at a
high level and six say they have a lot back
should be really strong on the on the both lines,
especially so you know, typical Cathedral teams. So so yeah,
I mean, those those coaches aren't looking down the road,
but but we can you know, uh, you know.
Speaker 4 (37:14):
Our jobs aren't depending on it.
Speaker 10 (37:16):
So but yeah, I mean I don't I think anybody
would be surprising playing Field is actually a really good
team to sectional. So there there you go. I throw
that out to you.
Speaker 1 (37:27):
Always. I always appreciate love for the Quakers.
Speaker 10 (37:30):
Now they are good, you know, Tyler Bless, Yeah they are,
and uh, you know, unfortunately they're they're in that sectional,
but they you know, they have competed at a high
level and they were really good last year. Nine and
two teams but you know ran into Decatur, uh in
the sectional championship. But but that's also a very good team.
So those three all legitimate, you know, top ten teams
(37:51):
I think in five A, in.
Speaker 1 (37:54):
Four A Heritage Hills, you know, bumps up to four.
They're pretty good. Uh, Star is star. You know what
you said about Cathedral, you say about Shutar, don't you think?
Speaker 4 (38:08):
Oh?
Speaker 10 (38:08):
Absolutely yeah, And I think they'll be they'll be better
than they were last year. You know, they have a
lot coming back, Jack Harrington. Their quarterback is back Zion
Zion Haney, who's going to ball State on the line.
Uh So they've got a really good team, you know.
And it's it's interesting with with Shatar. They they sort
of you know, they they go to three A, which
is their their normal classification, and win and then they
(38:31):
haven't quite been able to get over the hump of
the times they've gone to four A and they almost
did last year Newpouald beat them in overtime or they
would have, you know, potentially been been the team holding
the trophy.
Speaker 4 (38:40):
At the end. You know.
Speaker 10 (38:41):
But but yeah, I mean they're definitely going to be
a factor. And I also think, uh, I mean you
mentioned Aeron Chills, it's kind of a similar situation with
with the newpal you know, they move up, but they
return a ton of players. Jeded Goldsberry. If anybody wants
to watch a really good player, Jack Goldsberry is is that.
I mean, he's sensational. He'll be a secondary player, a
(39:04):
defensive back at Old Miss, but he plays quarterback and
does a great job running that team. But you know,
for he is fun. I mean there's a lot of
like Ron Collie. I think is going to be better
than they were last year. Even b Buff has been
a team that's been tough. Danville is very good, So
you've got some really good teams. I think that will
make that class a lot of fun this year. That's
(39:24):
been a class that's usually pretty interesting and has some
some fun games, and I think that'll be the case
again this year.
Speaker 1 (39:32):
Kyle Nedden rip from the Indianapolis Star. Go to the
Indianapolis Star dot com read his great work. He's fantastic
at what he does.
Speaker 4 (39:43):
Kyle.
Speaker 1 (39:44):
Thanks, I'm gonna do this a lot more than I
normally do. If you can squeeze in some time on
Friday nights out of love it, but I appreciate you
doing this. Have a great weekend.
Speaker 4 (39:55):
Absolutely, yeah, anytime, Bob. Just let me know and I'd
be glad to do it. Great.
Speaker 1 (39:59):
Thanks Kyle, Thanks a lot, enjoy the night you too.
Speaker 4 (40:02):
Bye.
Speaker 1 (40:03):
Coming up, we've got to school board update from mister
mister Corbyn Lingenfelter. We're glad you're with us. This is
Network Indiana's Indiana Sports Talk. Welcome back, Glad you're with
us on Indiana Sports Talk. We've got a lot to
talk about coming up in the next hour. We're gonna
(40:23):
talk a little more baseball, also talk a little bit
of high school football with Paul Condrey. Coming up tomorrow,
we're gonna talk IU football, Notre Dame football, the Fever. Yeah,
we talk about the Colts. We get a lot of
a lot of things to talk about there. So don't
(40:45):
forget to join us tomorrow night. All right, Corbyn Lingenfelter,
What in fact is going on tonight? You've been busy?
These coolboard updates have been busy, have they not?
Speaker 2 (40:56):
Oh, coach, it's always busy on a Friday, Saturday and Central.
Speaker 1 (41:02):
So are you doing football next week? Or you are you?
We're not lucky enough to have you? What's the deal?
Speaker 2 (41:07):
I am not because IndyCar is at Milwaukee for the
Milwaukee Mile for the second to last race of the season.
Speaker 1 (41:14):
So you got to take care of that, got it?
Speaker 4 (41:17):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (41:17):
That is right?
Speaker 1 (41:18):
IndyCar and IndyCar Poto has not wrapped it up officially,
Is that right? Uh?
Speaker 2 (41:24):
Polo has actually become the champion of the twenty twenty
five season after Poto Award had that engine issue. I
can't remember exactly. It was some kind of gearbox or something,
but he had that engine issue finished. Like up, I
mean it has been wrapped up.
Speaker 1 (41:44):
Yeah, So well, all right, that's good. So next Friday,
high school football. You've done a lot of high school
football in your day in that chair, have you not? Oh?
Speaker 2 (41:56):
Trust me, yes, I have.
Speaker 1 (41:58):
And it's kind of a fun thing. You know. I've
said this before. If I had a dime for every
time people have said to me over thirty one years, hey,
I can't wait to get in my car and listen
to the scoreboard updates. And then I asked him, I go,
do you do you listen anything other than the upbase
And they go, well, you know that's what that's what
(42:19):
I like most of the updates, And I go, I'm
fine with that. I mean, listen, I when we started it.
August ninety four was when we started. I knew. And
if you think about this, I mean you work in
the building, you understand technically it is Indiana Sports Talk
(42:42):
with Bob Lovell. I was adamant about not naming it
the Bob Lovell Show from the first day we started.
I said, it's it is the concept of this show
makes no sense to put to have one person's name
it is. You know it's not me. Yeah, I'm the
(43:02):
guy that gets you from schoolboard update to schoolboard update.
I understand all that, and I do have a you know,
a central role in what happens. But uh, it's it's
the scores, you know that. That's why people listen.
Speaker 2 (43:17):
Oh yeah, they want to know how their team did.
Maybe they couldn't make it to the game, or like
Forest Park is down at Mount Vert and Posey coach,
I made that drive, right, It's a long drive, especially
Friday night, right, so maybe you can't quite get there.
Or do you want to know how your grandson or
your son or whoever did.
Speaker 1 (43:38):
Well? All right, Brother Corton's coming up with the top
of the our school board updates. We're back on Network
Indiana's Indiana Sports.
Speaker 4 (43:45):
Ton
