Speaker 1 (04:39):
Welcome back, everyone, on Bob Lovel. This is Network Indiana's
Indiana Sports Talk. Before the score board update, we were
talking with Andrew Smith from the Newpal Network, New Palestine
Beach Mount Vernon seventy one nothing tonight, Andrew, very impressive win,
an overwhelming win for the Dragons tonight.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
Yeah, and it was just a game of big plays.

Speaker 4 (05:03):
Again.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
Mount Vernon's rebuilding a little bit. They're missing some key
players as well, and Newpal just overwhelmed them. Kit and
Jacobia tonight had one hundred and sixty yards and three
touchdowns on just six touches from scrimmage, two on the ground,
one through the air. Jacob Davis was eight of thirteen
for one hundred and thirty eight yards. He threw for
three touchdowns tonight. Mason Oglesby is a big tight end

(05:27):
that's going to be playing on Saturdays at a very
high level in a couple of years. He had back
to back touchdown receptions in the first half. And Garrett
Rains had a pick six, a block hunt and three
tackles for a lost tonight to lead to the Dragons defense.
And again, those guys essentially only played a quarter and
a half tonight because Newpal was able to build a

(05:48):
fifty eight nothing ed pretty early in the last of
those was scored by the second unit. They brought in
the backup quarterback midway through the second quarter, and so
it's really impressive. New Palace defense. You knew they'd be good,
returning ten of eleven starters from last year state championship team.
They've their number ones, have allowed one touchdown in four games,

(06:11):
playing some solid teams to cater Central Yorktown last week,
and they have just been lights out. And they held
Mount Vernon to Knight to just fifty three total yards
of offense and forced a lot of three and outs
and were able to get the ball back for the
offense in really good field position. And also new Palth
special teams have been phenomenal this year. They've blocked another

(06:33):
punt tonight, Cam Rallison had over one hundred yards and
punt return yardage tonight. And it's right now a very
complete football team. But they've got a big game looming
next week. Pendleton Heights is probably going to be in
the top five in Class four A. They're four and oh.
They had a big win over Greenfield Central tonight and
that game will likely decide who wins the Who's Your

(06:53):
Heritage Conference next week when the Dragons host Pendleton Heights,
but they retained the boundary rail. They're traveling trophy against
Mount Vernon for the fourth consecutive year tonight with the
biggest win in the history of the series against Mount
Vernon seventy one to nothing.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
New Palestine number one in five a tonight. Overwhelming. It's
an overwhelming win for them, very impressive win over Mount
Vernon seventy one nothing. Andrew Smith, great to talk to you.
Thanks so much for the time.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
Likewise, thank you.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
Coach. Josh Miracle joins me from Westfield. Westfield beats Noblesville
forty one to seven tonight. Coach, thanks for taking time
to join me in congratulations on an impressive win. Thank you.

Speaker 5 (07:38):
Appreciate you for having us well.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
Anytime you win a big county rivalry matchup, you are
more than welcome to join me on the show.

Speaker 5 (07:47):
Coach, We appreciate it. You know, our guys had a
lot of fun out there tonight.

Speaker 6 (07:52):
Just proud of the way they responded.

Speaker 5 (07:54):
And you know, put a pretty complete game together.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
Now's a good time to be putting complete games together,
starting to you know, you hope build some momentum as
you start to head into the latter part of the season,
you've played a difficult schedule, you always do your four
and oh right now ranked number seven in six A
tell me how you do this tonight, coach, Yeah, I
think tonight.

Speaker 5 (08:19):
You know, offensively, we had a huge game on a
Deacon King and you know that really starts with the
guys up front, so you know, credit to our offensive
line and you know he had almost one hundred and
fifty on the ground, and you know, quarterback play was outstanding.
You know, we had two guys kind of rotating in
there with Nate Grabowski and Cooper Belvin and you know,
I think those guys just a good one to two punch.

(08:41):
And then defensively just really front like our front seven
in particular, you know, played extremely well. J d al
Smith a big time slip sacked there before the half.
So yeah, just proud of those guys for all, you know,
three phases putting it together.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
So who's coming up next week?

Speaker 5 (09:00):
So we had HSC so that's always a tough game
and coach Kelly and they do a great job over there,
so we'll definitely have our work cut out for us.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
During my coaching career, I always believed it sometimes wasn't
so much who you played, was win and where. So
you got to meet a team who suffered a tough
loss tonight to their big rival, you know, so it's
that winning. It's that winning. Where kind of situation you're
in with HSC next week?

Speaker 5 (09:27):
Sure, yeah, they'll be, you know, rare and ready to go.
I'm sure to bounce back and again coach Kelly, have
nothing but the utmost respect for him and the staff.
And you know, it's always been a tough game here,
you know, the last couple of years in particular.

Speaker 4 (09:41):
So you know, we'll look.

Speaker 5 (09:42):
Forward to getting back to see what we can improve
and get ready for them.

Speaker 1 (09:47):
Josh Miracle football coach at Westfield. A big, solid win
tonight and very impressive win over Noblesville forty one to
seven the final in that one, Coach, I appreciate the call,
and I wish you the best next week.

Speaker 5 (10:04):
Thank you appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
Have a good one, Thank you very much. Coming up
much more, we're gonna talk about the big battle down
in Evansville between Memorial and Modern Day. Can't miss that
one coming up next school board update and then more
high school football. This is Indiana Sports Talk.

Speaker 2 (10:24):

Speaker 1 (12:10):
Welcome back everyone, This is Indiana Sports Talk. Floyd Central
meet seymour to Night forty two to fourteen from wnas
Brian Sullivan, Brian Good. Solid win for Floyd tonight.

Speaker 7 (12:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (12:23):
They they got after it and really dominated on both
the offensive and defensive line to night, and you just
ran out, got the advantage and got out.

Speaker 1 (12:34):
Of their healthy. I think that that's what they.

Speaker 8 (12:36):
Were they were looking forward to once they got things rolling.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
Get out of their healthy is much more important than
we realize, especially at this at this stage of the season.
It's incredibly important that we that we get out of
their healthy. That's very, very important. But you know, you know,
it was a nice night for them on both sides
of the ball.

Speaker 8 (12:59):
Yeah, they're game. And I appreciated the coach Bragg talking
to him after the ball game, right, you know, he
made he made sure to give a lot of credit
to his offensive line, the running backs. They obviously took advantage.
They were getting thirteen yards of carriage, but a lot
of that work was done by the guys up front.
They're pretty much playing all juniors there, So I think

(13:21):
he's really excited about where that group was.

Speaker 1 (13:24):
Still another year that he's going.

Speaker 8 (13:25):
To have them where they're at so far this year.
But the running attack was four hundred and thirty yeah
plus tonight.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
Yeah, that's a lot of yards, right, who's up next week?
For him.

Speaker 8 (13:37):
Floyd's going to be over at Jeffersonville, and you know,
just just got a pretty decent team. I think that's
going to be a solid game at jeff But Floyd,
Floyd's going to be right there with Columbus's in the
race of the Hoosier Hills Conference championship just based on
what we've seen so far the first.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
Four weeks, Floyd Central over Seymour to Night forty fourteen.
Brian Sullivan can't do this without you. Thanks so much
for the call. Have a great weekend. Hey, we'll talk
to you next week, coach. I'll look forward to it.
Thanks very much. Breeman beats Laville tonight seven to six.
Max Lorraine from l d H one on the call
of this game, Max, you had a tremendous game to

(14:16):
call tonight back.

Speaker 9 (14:18):
Of a game down there at Lakeville, Coach. Probably the
storyline going into it was longtime Laville offensive coordinator and
longtime John Glenn head coach justin Magonia going to Bremen
as the new head coach, right, and you know it,
just the all you needed was the first seven minutes
for offense. The rest of the time, good old classic

(14:39):
slugfest defensively, how important a special teams coach Laville was
on the board first six to nothing, locked extra point,
kept at six to nothing a couple of plays later
on Breaman get to know the name for the Lions.
His name is Jack Wilder wild Hour. Sorry, both sides

(15:00):
of ball, quick pass to his tight end casey Ton,
seven to six, and that's basically your ballgame. Offensively, wild
Hour got it done both sides. Though late in the game,
Laville's trying deep in their own territory to get something going.
Cole Stafford was going to go down tackle for loss
maybe three yards, but behind the line, tried to lateral

(15:21):
the ball to his quarterback. Lines were able to fall
on it. That was about as close as Laville got
the entire rest of the game. I think at that
point it was first, sorry, third and seven on Greeman's
twenty three yard line. That was as close as the
Lancers got. First win for Breenan in this series going
back to twenty fourteen. I believe that my numbers are correct.

(15:44):
In the last since twenty nineteen, these teams have met
each other nine different times. First win for this line
squad in a long time.

Speaker 1 (15:53):
So the game winner tell me when they're scoring. It's
a one point ball game. How do they get that decider? Really?

Speaker 9 (16:01):
The last chance that Laville had was trying again deep
in their own territory. Brian was able to with the
special teams and with defense, Brien was able to stand
up fourth and long Laville. Brayden Schwitz tried a deep
pass downfield again Jack Wildeour right there jump ball just
a few plays later to steal it. Wild Our quarterback

(16:24):
keeper first down, twenty three yard gain that ran out
the clock. Freeman had the ball six and a half
minutes in the fourth quarter after having it for the
last three of the third. This is a very very
tough defensive and offensive clock management team tonight.

Speaker 1 (16:42):
A very impressive win for Breeman seven to six to
the final over Laville. From LDH one Max Lorraine, Max,
thanks for the call. Have a great weekend anytime. Thanks Brett.
What you do coach, Thank you very much. The big
battle of the night quite frankly, evans Ville Memorial evans
Viille Modern Day Memorial wins this one twenty eight to

(17:03):
twenty one. From the Tigers Sports Network. Our good friend
Mike Scavara, Mike, what a great game. We knew it
would be, but this one one of those great matches
between two powerful schools.

Speaker 4 (17:17):
All right, Bob, that's one of those improbable games that
unfortunate one of the schools, yeah to lose. I've been
doing this for many decades. And there was a ballgame
where number one Evans will Memorial John Hurley's ball club
in his eighteenth year where came away with that overtime
twenty eight twenty one win, and Cody Hess, who took

(17:38):
over for a long time Modern Day coach Mike Gable
two hundred and seventy wins later, was trying to beat
the undefeated Tigers, and really it was a kind of
defensive battle. In the first half. Each team scored on
their third possession, Memorial an eight yard pass from quarterback

(17:58):
Luke Brown to Drew Ellis and then to find running
back Cayden Thacker had a six yard run for a
Modern Day tied at halftime, and then moder Day gets
the ball start the second half, Bob, and they go
seventy yards, eleven plays, five minutes and fifty seconds and
their fine quarterback Tate Mallory runs it in and makes

(18:19):
it fourteen nothing. Still the defensive battle, and with seven
thirty or so to go in the game, Modern Day
goes on a sixty four yard thirteen play six minutes,
fifteen yard, fifteen minutes, fifteen seconds, and with one sixteen
to go, Modern Day goes up twenty one to seven

(18:41):
and looks blink for the Tigers, but they score quickly.
They go sixty four yards and two plays, big play
Brown to sophomore receiver Brant Rosie, and then they get
a touchdown pass to Max Anslinger. Then the only turn
over of the game on side kick, Captain J. J.

(19:04):
Lowery recovers for a memorial seven plays they go down.
They score on a six yard pass from Brown to
Luke Dockery uh and then the extra points good bye Pate.
Barrett Mmori gets the ball first. Dylan Kendrick, their fine
running back, scores it in from ten yards out. On

(19:24):
the first play of overtime. Modern Day gets the ball,
fourth and one the ball on the one Cayden Thacker.
He gets stuffed trying to go over right tackle by
you know all state potential linebacker Connor Hodonano Hue and
the Tigers win their fourteenth game or excuse me, thirteenth
game in a row regular season and their kent't win

(19:48):
in a row against Modern Day in a wild one.
That's that's for sure. And again that's what happened. And
I'm going to give you the head coach, John Hurley,
and he'll try still try to tell you why it happened.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
Hey Bob, Hey, John, thanks for calling. I appreciate the call. Congratulations.
You know, the I can't imagine what the leak the
week is like when you have the Modern Day and
Memorial matchup. That's clearly one of the biggest games of
the year for both of you.

Speaker 10 (20:20):
Absolutely, it's always a big game. And coming into it,
I knew they've they've improved greatly. I felt like they're
physical and they came out and played that way. You know.

Speaker 4 (20:30):
I felt like we made a lot of.

Speaker 10 (20:31):
Mistakes offensively, put our defensive in some bad spots and
you know, things didn't look very good. But the minute
sixteen and I couldn't really tell you how we ended
up where we ended up in the end.

Speaker 7 (20:41):
I do know this.

Speaker 4 (20:42):
We can catch lightning in a bottle from time to
time and it can be.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
Very explosive when we execute.

Speaker 10 (20:47):
But you know, we're going to have to do a
better job throughout the course of the week preparing for
each week.

Speaker 1 (20:54):
Yeah, I understand that, and that's why it's an important
win for you, because it again gives you an idea
in one of those barometer kind of games, John, where
you know where you are, you know what you need
to clean up and improve on, and what better way
to do it than against your big rival.

Speaker 4 (21:12):
Well, and you know they, I mean, they had a
nice game plan.

Speaker 10 (21:15):
They controlled the clock, you know, and they just kept
interesting down the field, and you know, we kept getting
behind the sticks. And our hats off to Luke Brown
to can keep his composure all the way up at
the end of the game and make some big plays
when he was called upon. And I'm really proud of
the way the kids ended the game, especially defensively. We

(21:36):
had a couple of kids get hurt and some younger guys.
I think we may have had six hundred classmen on
the front on that last goal line stop. So I'm
really pleased with that.

Speaker 1 (21:45):
John Hurley and the Evans Hill Memorial with a great
win over Modern Day tonight, John, thanks so much for
the call. Good luck next week. Thank you.

Speaker 2 (21:56):

Network Indiana Sports, I'm Alane Coons.

Speaker 1 (23:39):
Welcome back everyone on Bob Lovel. This is Network Indiana's
Indiana Sports Talk. High school football Tonight, Garan Katholic beats
We're buff Jesuit with thirty six twenty five with me
Garren's head coach Tom Dilly. Tom, thanks for the call.
Congratulations on an impressive win tonight.

Speaker 7 (23:57):
Thanks Bob, always good to talk to you.

Speaker 1 (24:00):
Appreciate that. I appreciate your calling me last week. I
apologized for not being able to manage the phone like
a man should and so I need, I need to
get better. H It's a good win over a rebuff
team that's better than their record is. That's a good
football team.

Speaker 7 (24:18):
Oh absolutely. Coach Gevskin and staff always do a great
job and they're always physical and prepared and have a
good scheme. And you know, it's a hard fought rivalry
type game and we uh took up with them, and
it was similar tonight. I mean, our our offense I
think was able to do pretty much what they needed
to do. Uh defense struggled at times. In fact, we didn't.

(24:42):
We didn't finish either half real well. They actually scored
touchdowns on the last play of each of the halves.
If we had finished a little bit better, we could
have maybe getting gotten control team. But you know, it's
just this is a hard fought back and forth and
but our offense really controlled things all right.

Speaker 1 (24:59):
So when do you get a separation in this game.

Speaker 7 (25:03):
In the fourth quarter we got up. Like I said,
they scored on the last play of the game. So
before that it was I can't remember with the six
points better than it finished. But you know, we were
up three scores and unfortunately let them go down the field.
But give them credit, they kept fighting. But our offense

(25:23):
did what they had to do capitalized. We had a
couple couple of takeaways. Each safety had an interception, Nolan
rat With and James Moody, and the offense turned those
into points. And you know, the offense was pretty proficient.
Our quarterback keep Quinton and Clee had a great night.
I don't have any stats in front of me, unfortunately,
but I think he threw he had to throw for

(25:44):
over three hundred and our receiving corps, Isaiah Lewis, Quintin's
younger brother, Colby Klee, Aiden Horn, and Trevor Macy were
all very difficult to deal with and each made some
big way.

Speaker 1 (26:02):
Tom Dilly, the head coach at Garan Catholic, great win
tonight Garan Catholic number nine in three A. They were
above Jesuit thirty six twenty five. Tom, thanks for the call.
Good luck next week.

Speaker 11 (26:15):
Appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (26:16):
Thanks Bob, Thank you. Paul Condrey, the man from the
regional radio sports network Indiana Football Digest, Remember the Indiana
Hall of Fame, India the Indiana Sports Triers and Sports
Casters Hall of Fame. Is the call tonight of Michigan
City's twenty seven to twenty one win over Valparaiso. Paul,
thanks for the call. It's an impressive win for the
city tonight.

Speaker 12 (26:37):
It really was a big win. First time since two
thousand and nine that Valparaiso loses to Michigan City. Valpo
really kind of owned this series twenty nine wins and
against five losses now, but it was a It was
a crazy game, both teams with a couple turnovers, game

(27:00):
filled with penalties, and it was just one of those
situations where nobody really seemed to find any momentum. Michigan
City had a golden opportunity to put the game away
late in the ballgame, had a twenty seven to fourteen
lead with six twenty five to go with a ballgame
of Valparaiso drives the link to the field scores and

(27:21):
then makes a defensive stand, gets the football back and
they got a first in goal of the six yard
nine a touchdown and a pat wins the football game. However,
a miscommunication on a staff a lose ten yards and
Michigan City's defense did what he needed to do and
held on Valparaiso, very entertaining, a very important game for

(27:42):
Michigan City as they improved a three and one, and
it was Cody French's first win against Valparaiso. And really
for the first time in Bill Marshall's really tremendous career,
he falls to one in three. He's never been in
this position as a head coach. But they're going to
be on the road eight miles away from the large
rival Chester To next week, and I'm sure they'll get

(28:05):
off this night and be ready to go next week.

Speaker 1 (28:07):
But a good win for Michigan City tonight.

Speaker 12 (28:09):
On the road at Viking Field, a really great crowd
on Patriot Night, special night for high school football here
in the region.

Speaker 1 (28:18):
Tomorrow night, Paul Condrey and I will do our normal
Saturday night recap of what happened tonight. Should be a
lot of fun tonight. The legend himself, Paul Condrey on
the call of Michigan City's twenty seven to twenty one
win over Valparaiso. Paul, thanks for the call. We'll talk
tomorrow night.

Speaker 7 (28:36):
Thanks.

Speaker 12 (28:36):
Guy's great to be with the GOBBA.

Speaker 1 (28:38):
Thank you very much. The man who has waited longer
than a man should have to wait. David Eaton from WKLO.
He has the Charleston twenty nine to twenty two went
over North Harrison. Pretty good ball game tonight, David.

Speaker 6 (28:53):
Yeah, an interesting matchup between these two teams in the
Mid Southern Conference at North Harrison out the ball first
went to work on a long drive that resulted in
a touchdown and Brice Vessel, they're senior running back, able
to take it in from two yards out to get
them on the board first. And that drive took up
almost over half of the first quarter. So Charlestown with

(29:16):
their spread run pass option offense got to work and
they countered with a touchdown of their own on the
drive and went to their running back aj Todd and
a kid who came up for the football team this
year and we've seen him as a point guard on
the basketball court. He scores a nine yard touchdown on
an option play to tie the game at seven after

(29:38):
the extra point, and so then after that North Harrison
got it back and ended up going three and out.
Charlestown got a really good punt return that set them up.

Speaker 4 (29:49):
In short field.

Speaker 6 (29:49):
They scored on the first play, with Todd getting in
from twenty two yards out, and so they're up fourteen
to seven. And then after the team's kind of traded
possessions with North Harrison going three now then Charlestown turning
it over on downs, the Cougars came back, went sixteen
plays eighty six yards and six minutes thirteen seconds, and
their quarterback Cayden Haynes got in from one yard out,

(30:11):
so that tied the game at fourteen going into halftime.
Charlestown came out third quarter, went nine plays fifty six yards,
and again it was aj Todd, who had one touchdown
in the first three games. He scores three tonight. This
one is a one yard touchdown that gives Charlestown a
twenty one to fourteen lead. It would stay like that
for quite a while. North Harrison got the ball with

(30:32):
twenty seconds to go in the third quarter, and then
they go on a drive that goes ten minutes and
sixteen seconds, driving it all the way down the field
eighty one yards and eighteen plays Cayden Haynes again the
senior quarterback, with a one yard touchdown run. They go
for two. The Cougars get it with Price fescil. They're
up one with two minutes and four seconds to go,

(30:55):
and then Charlestown facing fourth down and fourteen at the
North Harrison. The Cougars missed the chance to intercept the pass.
The Pirates go to Christian Grace and their quarterback. There
was a bomb to Sloan Roberts, the wide receiver, down
the sideline for a forty yard touchdown with thirty five
seconds to go. The Pirates would get the two point conversion.

(31:16):
The Cougars would get a little help on the kickoff
thanks to a penalty got set up at the Charlestown
forty and unfortunately through a desperation pass to the goal
line that went through the hands of the intended receiver,
Dowson sent a senior receiver for the Cougars at the end,
so Charlestown gets out with the win. For North Harrison
coach three straight losses, all of them by seven points

(31:37):
or less under Garry fessel and year one, so definitely it's.

Speaker 1 (31:41):
Tough loss for the Cougars, especially coming off.

Speaker 6 (31:43):
The rivalry loss last week to Court in Central but
a lot of what a good competition tonight and Charlestown's
a pretty good team. Aaron Daniel in year one doing
a lot of good things there with his alma mater.
And so though the Pirates now three and one of
the Cougars come out of this one three after the
loss to Night at.

Speaker 1 (32:02):
Home, Charlestown beats North Ayrison tonight twenty nine, twenty two
Wklos David Eaton David, thanks for the call, be safe tonight.

Speaker 6 (32:11):
All right, thanks suck.

Speaker 1 (32:13):
South Putnam is number three in one A tonight they
beat Eastern Hancock thirty three nineteen. Chuck Serel, the head
coach of South Putnam joins me, coach, thanks for the
call and congratulations on another another good win tonight.

Speaker 8 (32:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (32:29):
I mean you go on the road an hour and
a half the Eastern Hancock other side of the right,
you know, Indianapolis.

Speaker 1 (32:36):
You get off the bus. You're just hoping that you
you know, start off strong.

Speaker 4 (32:41):
And they turned the opening, they returned the opening kickoff
and we're like, oh no, here we go again. You know,
like last week we got upset and it's it's all.
You know, we just so we rebounded, We did well,
and you know we we scored two unanswered scores there,
and you know, offense really was clicking. You know, we

(33:02):
didn't score a lot of points. So we had four
different guys score touchdowns and defense did exactly what we
needed them to stop their offense and get us off
the field in crucial situations.

Speaker 1 (33:12):
So coach, I need you to hang on. See the
scoreboard update. We'll talk more about your win. Okay, okay,
sounds good, Burfy.

Speaker 2 (33:22):
Final scoreboard update of the night for Indiana high school

Speaker 1 (35:06):
Elena Kuns, Welcome back everyone. Check Shower from South Putnam
rejoins me their number three in single late tonight they
beat Eastern Hancock thirty three to nineteen on the road. Coach,
you give up an opening kickoff return for touchdown. You
mentioned you were backed up against the wall. How'd you

(35:26):
come back and win this game?

Speaker 4 (35:29):
Well, we balanced the tack we had. Drew Klein had
three touchdown passes the Khalil Jefferson, Hayden, Tencher and Branson
Inzer and then we got the running game going. Briar
Cook scored two touchdowns on the gate on the ground
and the case the names had probably had one hundred
yards rushing himself. We you know, we we lost our
running back last week for a few weeks. You know,

(35:51):
he had six hundred yards and two games we twisted
his knees. He's out for a few weeks. We got
two offensive linemen down, we've got two defensive players now,
so we just talked about next man mentality, and that's
what it was about the last couple of weeks here,
and you know, I thought, our guys come out on
the road, you know, im.

Speaker 1 (36:10):
Prove that we are still the top five.

Speaker 11 (36:12):
Team even we lose guys.

Speaker 4 (36:13):
We've created some depth and we got a lot of
guys stepping up and playing in new positions. Khalil Jefferson
had three sacks in a big fifty yard touchdown reception
playing defensive end now instead of outside linebackers. So it's
kind of move some guys and right, and you know,
we're finding out who can play, and a know, it's
for us, it's all about who can play Weeks nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen,

(36:36):
and that's what we're trying to find is a bunch
of guys that can play in the tournament. And I
think we've created a little more depth, and that's good
when you're going on the road and getting big wins.

Speaker 1 (36:44):
Like this big win for South Putnam tonight. Thirty three
nineteen winners over Eastern Hancock. Chuck Sorrel, thanks so much
for the call. Good luck next week. Thank you go
Eagles Go Eagles. Yorktown over Delta tonight, forty five to
seven from w you inn in Muncie. Kurt Darling on

(37:06):
the call, Kurt, I appreciate your patience. Very impressive win
for Yorktown tonight.

Speaker 13 (37:12):
Yeah, coach, and it certainly didn't look like Yorktown might
be on the good end of things tonight based on
how this game started. It was a ninety nine yard
kickoff return for a touchdown by Delta returner Carter Jackson,
who got things going scoring wise, making it seven to
nothing at the very beginning. But unfortunately for the Eagles,

(37:34):
that would be the extent of it, as Yorktown would
go on to score forty five unanswered points, the first
two of which were actually a safety on a bad
punt from their own end zone by Delta. So things
just got from bad to worse for Delta and of
course from good to better for Yorktown coming off of
that lost in New Palestine last week. Santo car tonight

(37:55):
for Yorktown. He goes for one hundred and fifty eight
yards through the air, three touchdow and then he rushed
for another one, and Nate lou Zata also had a
rushing touchdown. But another big story was Chris Wilson on
the defensive side for Yorktown. He had four tackles for
loss this evening, and mind you, he is the backup
defensive end because Jabin Barnes, who is the starter, was

(38:16):
out tonight with a calf injury, so he comes up
in the big performance for the Tigers here this evening.
So but now the Tigers get to go home for
the first time this season because their field turf is
finally ran after it was not in on time for
the start of the season, so they get to go
home against Newcastle for the first time next week, while
Delta gets to go on the road to face Mount

(38:37):
Vernon and Mount Vernon's going to be looking for a
win after what happened with newpal tonight. So either way,
some good action up here in Delaware County and Yorktown
getting a big win tonight.

Speaker 1 (38:48):
Wmun's Kurt Garling on the call of Yorktown's forty five
seven win over Delta. You calling me tomorrow talking ball state.
You know it, coach.

Speaker 13 (38:57):
They faced New Hampshire tomorrow, first home game at Schumann Stadium.

Speaker 1 (39:01):
Can't wait. I'll look forward to it. Thanks, Kurt, have
a great night.

Speaker 7 (39:04):
We'll do you do the same, coach.

Speaker 1 (39:06):
Wow, man, perfect, lots and lots of football to talk about.
We're going to talk with coach Ron Qualls from short Ridge. Coach,
big win for Shortridge tonight twenty six to twenty four.
We're Hammond Central. Long time since we've talked, but I'm
so happy for you and your guys.

Speaker 11 (39:26):
I'll tell you what, Bob, it was a great night
up here in Hammond. And we are still waiting to
get on the buses, so you can imagine what time
we're going to roll into this roll back in the night.
But hey, it was well worth it our our kids.

Speaker 1 (39:38):
Hey, coach, well, coach, let me interrupt. We're getting ready
to go to a short break, okay, so hang on
and we'll continue to talk about this big win for you. Okay,
got it? Perfect? Thank you so much. Welcome back, everybody.
One of my favorites. Ron Qualls, the head coach at
short Ridge beats Hammond Central tonight twenty six, twenty four

(40:00):
on the road. Coach tell me how you do this?

Speaker 11 (40:05):
Well, you know me, I love to throw the football, right, Yeah,
we got so what We didn't throw it that much, Bob.

Speaker 1 (40:10):
We really didn't.

Speaker 11 (40:11):
We were able to pound the rock inside a little brighter.
And you know, with our offensive line and our seniors,
you know, they've they've wanted victories for so long and
to see them step up tonight and play in the
way in which they did with huge hearts. When you're
away and you're you're in Hammon, right two and a
half hour drive, and you show up and it's their homecoming.

Speaker 1 (40:33):
Oh, which we get to be a lot of people's homecoming.

Speaker 11 (40:38):
But that's okay because our guys came out victorious. We
had a six sixth first quarter and it you know,
twelve six at halftime. It's one of those that goes
back and forth. But with our seniors leading us, and
you know Nick Jordan plays both ways for us as
a receiver and an outside backer. Thomas Campbell just ran
the football so hard with our offensive line. Then on defense,

(41:03):
you know, Devin Highball and some of those guys on
defense just crushed it to be able to allow us
to hold on to that twenty twenty six twenty four
victory and get one for the city.

Speaker 1 (41:14):
Get one for the city is exactly right, but also
get one for a program that deserves one. That's the
other part of it.

Speaker 11 (41:21):
Well, you know what, it's been on some tough times.

Speaker 1 (41:24):
It really has.

Speaker 11 (41:25):
And and you know, we had our first jay. We've
got a JV schedule, Bob, how about that. That's great
And for some guys that's not a big deal. For us,
it's a huge deal. We beat Tech on Monday night
and a JV battle and followed it up. That really
set the tone for this week for our guys, and
we're getting into a part of our schedule we feel
like is formidable for us. And so now it's just

(41:48):
a matter of getting better every week. We've got you know,
forty five guys are working hard now every week, and
I know there's a lot of schools that can't say
that anymore. Are on hard times with the number of
players and hours just keep showing up.

Speaker 1 (42:02):
Uh.

Speaker 11 (42:02):
You know, we had guys who were hurting Tllon Beaver.
I mean, some of the guys just got beat up tonight,
but they kept coming back play after play after play,
and I think that's the mark of strong seniors that
want to go out victorious.

Speaker 1 (42:17):
Well it worked tonight. Short riche twenty six, twenty four
winners over him in Central ron Qualls. Great to talk
to you. I hope I'm talking to you a lot
remainder of the season. Be safe coming home and enjoy
the rod all.

Speaker 11 (42:32):
All two hours and forty five minutes about.

Speaker 1 (42:37):
I love you appreciation, All right, take care? Well there
you go. What a great win. All right, Landon Coons.
You weren't very busy tonight, were you. I'd really uh.

Speaker 2 (42:53):
I tried to be as busy as I could.

Speaker 7 (42:54):
Man.

Speaker 2 (42:54):
There was one hundred and sixty games going going across
the star of Indiana. But I was busy be over
here in my corner. But it has been a long night,
but it has also been a good night and a
memorable night of fun night of high school football across
the state of Indiana.

Speaker 1 (43:10):
Thanks for all you do. Like you a great job. Thanks,

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
