Speaker 3 (05:33):
It's a store for the.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
I've heard of a bud happy than Don Fisher right now.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
No, no, I mean as much as it. I know
we're wearing people out. I apologize. I actually don't apologize.
It's just I mean, number one, we all love Don.
That's that's number one. And number two, if you're sitting
there watching it in real time on TV or even
being there, it's insane. It's I and it's there's a
(06:04):
play prior to that. This justice dramatic. That's that's That's
the crazy thing about this game is they make two
of those kinds of catches that are that are unbelievable.
To get him in that position.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
You just gotta trust coach Signetti man. I mean, that's
that's that's all you have to do at this point,
and trusted him and then trust in uh Fernando Heismandoza.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
Yeah, I love it. I also love the fact that
that you know here's i U on this two year blitz,
if you will, and doing everything right and having a
run that I'm trying to remember when anybody has done
in the in the past, when anyone has done what
(06:49):
they're doing now. And I'm coming up short trying to
figure that out.
Speaker 6 (06:54):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
And I know it drives the Paul Fine Bombs of
the world crazy because it's the Big Ten and it's
this I here. It's a basketball school, right, everybody knows that. Well, no,
you know, there are great athletic programs what they are.
And always remember, if you get the right people in charge,
(07:15):
it's amazing what you can do. And they have the
right people in charge all the way top to bottom,
president all the way down. And so it's a pretty
dramatic turnaround. I'd say that quite, you know, quite quite.
And so it's great to listen to this over and over.
Notre Dame with a wind over Navy in the in
(07:38):
the snow storm. Did you were you watching it? Were
you able to watch it?
Speaker 6 (07:42):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (07:42):
I don't have.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
I had it popped up on my TV here in
the corner, and yeah, the snow was coming down, it
was leaving tracks by the end of that. But I mean,
obviously not of them, and you can still see logos
ands and stuff on the field, but it was it
was coming down there at the end.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
So when Lynn Clark is telling, you know, talk to
me about the one of you know, the snow's coming in, snows,
the snow's rolling in, and I'm thinking, yeah, but you know,
come on now, you're talking about snow. That's good. That's
uh uh, that's that's fun. All right, Colts tomorrow at
(08:18):
nine thirty.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
Oh, I got to sit in the line.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
Listen, I understand there in Germany and I got all that.
But again, we get off the air at midnight, and
then uh, I'm gonna have to get up and get
after it early because I do want to watch it.
I think it's They're fun to watch, and I think,
(08:46):
you know, they need to they need to bounce back,
get going and keep making progress. They're still in a
great position to make a deep run into the playoffs,
and so make sure they go out and do that.
What happened to today? What was what was the story
on Purdue?
Speaker 2 (09:02):
So Purdue, I know at one point they led early
on three to nothing. That was towards the end of
the first quarter. But the Ohio State buck guys doing
what Ryan Day and the Buckeyes do best. They're just
such a great second half team and they just I
hate to say, I mean, they just pummeled Purdue. Thirty
four to ten was the final score. And then you know,
(09:23):
we're gonna see the rankings come out tomorrow, and I'm
assuming you're gonna see the same. Top three, heck, maybe
even Top four or five stayed the exact same. You
know you're gonna get Ohiose State at one, IYU it
to Texas A and m at three, Alabama four and
Georgia five.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
Got it? Well, it's all right, that's okay. Coming up,
Landon Kunz is gonna give you another school board update
that's coming up soon. And also, excuse me, don't have
a cough button, which would be good. But also coming
(10:02):
up the bottom of the ourl as we do every
Saturday night, Paul Condry and I will take a look
at high school football big night last night Sectional championships.
We're going to talk about him coming up and look
ahead at the regionals. This is Network Indiana's Indiana Sports Talk.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
The Denver Nuggets extending their lead over the Indiana Pacers
one oh six to eighty eight, six point twenty remaining
in the In this game, Aaron Nee Smith Lady scored
for the Pacers with twenty five points, Adrian Emhard with
twenty two, and Pascal Siakam with twelve. Looking at other
scores in college basketball, holy Cross getting a ninety two

(10:43):
to pass seventy seven to seventy four over Laws, Saint
Thomas getting an eighty four to seventy nine win over Marion,
Wabash ninety to sixty one over Hanover, Butler won twelve

Hoo's Your taking on Marquette at one o'clock tomorrow, Dominican
(11:03):
at Purdue Fort Wayne, that game was at two o'clock,
and Oakland City taking on Evansville, that game also at
four o'clock. Looking in high school football regionals a week
from yesterday, we had in the one A category, it's
Laville at Pioneer, South, Adams at North Miami, Sheridan at
South Putnam, and Myland at Providence. In two Way, Southmont
(11:25):

Brownsburg versus Decatur Central and Warren Central versus Center Grove.
For Network Indiana Sports, all Manicoons.
Speaker 1 (12:05):
Welcome back, everyone, I'm Bob Lovell. This is Network Indiana's
Indiana Sports Talk. Glad you're with us. Excited about sectional
action coming up? Excuse me, regional action coming up next week. Well,
Condrey and I in just a few minutes are going
to talk about what happened last night and he'll set
(12:27):
the stage for the regionals. And before we do that, though,
let's talk a little to Paul football. Brett Deetz joins
us the Paul Tigers this afternoon with a big, solid
win as they get ready for the Monon Bell game. Coach,
don't have in front of me that I know you won.
(12:48):
Tell me give me the score again.
Speaker 7 (12:52):
Score with fifty nine to nothing.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
Oh that's right. One of those beat Worcester fifty nine
nothing wins the time Worcester was beating fifty nine nothing.
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (13:03):
It's been a while, but they came in pretty hot.
They uh, they threw their Their quarterback was NCAC player
of the Week last week. He threw for sixdowns right
in close five hundred yards and that was not the
case today.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
That's for sure, pretty pretty good tuned up for for
the Bell game, don't you think.
Speaker 7 (13:26):
Yeah, we we had uh several guys that had interceptions
for touchdowns, including uh it was senior day and we
had five interceptions on the day.
Speaker 6 (13:37):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (13:38):
They're starting quarterback only played the baft but we intercepted
the backup four times in the second half.
Speaker 8 (13:43):
So.
Speaker 7 (13:45):
We uh, as you said, it's quite the tune up
for for next week.
Speaker 1 (13:50):
Yeah, I mean again number one. Uh, it's a conference
win and it's Worcester and historically they're they're pretty good,
but you were just much better. And it's a great way.
And I do we are going to talk about the
Bell game, but I want to talk as much as
I can about this game because man, oh man, that's impressive.
(14:13):
And what is it Senior Day today too?
Speaker 8 (14:16):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (14:16):
Today, with Senior Day, we have a big senior class.
So we had thirty one senior dress, but we have
thirty eight seniors in our program. We have some student coaches,
but this class has been around a long time and
carried a lot of roles, so it was awesome to
honor them fifty nine to nothing. The other note for
us is, you know, today was the last regular season
(14:38):
game in Blackstock Stadium as we know. Oh yeah, right summer,
we're going to tear the stadium down and start to
build a new eighty million dollars stadium. This stay opened
in a couple of years, so I'm glad we could
send old Blackstock Stadium away with a big win.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
You know, when I was coaching basketball and baseball at
Franklin College and when I was playing those same things.
But I remember vividly, you know, playing baseball against DePaul,
rolling in, dressing over in Blackstock and being there. What
it is. It's it's bittersweet, I suppose in many ways.
But I think you'll get over it when you get
(15:16):
into the new facility. But it's a great way to
say goodbye to an old friend at Blackstock Stadium.
Speaker 7 (15:23):
Yeah for sure. I mean it was built nineteen forty one,
it's been renovated a couple of times, and it was
just time for us to break into something new. And
so we've had an anonymous Stoner come in and went
in the program, very appreciative of that, and you know
it's time when De Paul does you know, does renovations.
(15:44):
They don't do it halfway. They do it all the way.
So we're pretty excited for what's to come.
Speaker 1 (15:51):
All right, next Saturday. How many years now on the
Monon Bell MO non.
Speaker 7 (15:57):
Bell game one hundred and thirty sec game I believe one.
Speaker 1 (16:01):
Hundred and thirty second game. Man oh man, Well you've
been you've been involved in it as a player, as
a coach. You understand this. How do you describe it
to people who don't fully understand what this rivalry is about.
Speaker 7 (16:18):
I mean, I think it's you know, and and it's essence.
It is a rivalry game, right, It's it's you know,
every high school team plays the rivalry game, every college
plays the rivery game. You know, me playing at Hannover
like Hanniver Franklin is a you know, is a rivalry
game that that I grew up playing. And and but
it's just different because you know, we we we have
(16:38):
so many extra fans at this game, right, So they're right,
you know, we normally play in front of a you know,
a thousand or two fans every year, and then all
of a sudden, for this game, there's ten thousand people there,
and so it's five times the amount of people we
normally have. And it's all alumni, it's all friends, it's
all family, it's all all people from Indianapolis that that
just love to see this game. And so I think
(16:59):
one of the special things about this riberries nobody's held
the bell for longer than seven years in a row.
Right in its history, it's always been a back and
forth rivalry. And the schools are so similar with being
high academics and stuff like that. But yet it's so
different at the same time. One of those things is
hard to put into words, but you definitely feel it
when you're there, So it's pretty special.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
I love the fact that that there it's such so
closely contested over the period of one hundred and thirty
one years, So you can talk about all these you know,
you know, Alabama, Michigan, whatever, the rivalries, what do you
want to talk about? Those aren't like this, Those are
(17:42):
not like this. Those historically, over the course of time,
this has been what a rivalry should be like that
closely contested and the stakes are awfully, awfully high.
Speaker 7 (17:54):
Yeah, and it's always the last week of the season, sure,
and I think that's a big key, and so is
the Hanover Franklin rivalry. But there's something when it's the
final game, right, and both teams now are and playoff implications,
so you know, it may not be the final game
for either one of us, but you know something about
the finality of your final team too that I think
(18:17):
adds a little bit of a mystique to the game.
You know, there's some rivalries, you know in high school
that don't play the last week, and there's always the
week to kind of get back on the horse. But
this this one sticks in your craw if you don't
get it done. So yeah, it's pretty all right.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
So what on the implications postseason wise.
Speaker 7 (18:38):
Well, we're both we both have the same record, we're
both eight and one heading into the game. We both
have a loss to the same team. We both narrowly
lost to John Carroll, who's the new team in our conference,
and so you know, John Carroll looks like they're going
to win the conference. And so but the playoffs expanded
last year in Division three to forty teams, so there's
(18:58):
you know, more teams that win the at large bid.
So it's about you know, I think about twelve teams
make that large bid in Division three, and both of
us are positioned right now through the ranking system to
make the playoffs. And so obviously one's gonna win and
one's going to lose. So it would probably knock one
(19:18):
out of the out of the NPI rankings, and it
would you know, boost the other one a little bit
more in it. So I think both teams are positioned
whoever wins to get a good, uh a good kind
of MPI ranking and the Division three playoffs to get
a pretty decent seed. So so it's it's just a
little bit different now with with uh, you know, John
(19:38):
Carroll entering the conference next year, a few interest the conference,
so it just adds a little spice and and so
the teams are very evenly matched, I think. Yeah, you know,
obviously the records speak for themselves, being the exact same
and with the same common loss and almost the same
margin of victory are margin of loss against John Carroll.
So probably the two most evenly matched up games that
(20:00):
that I can remember in quite a long time between
us two.
Speaker 1 (20:03):
And you know what, if it's if you're a coach,
you're a player, this is the way you want it,
you want to beat this is this is one of
the reasons why you went where you went to Wabash
and De Paul is to play in this kind of
game because you're going to have a lifetime experience that
you will truly remember that these matchups, these games for
the rest of your life. And that's what makes this
(20:27):
so historic and so important everybody.
Speaker 7 (20:30):
Yeah, and our seniors, you know, our seniors, you know,
just had Senior Day and there's quite a few of them.
We've won the last three Bell games so you know
there's something that you're part of the Paul Wabash like
if you win four bells that in your four years, like,
that's the that's elite, that's that's an elite fin and
carry that right. You carry that with your own ny,
(20:52):
but you also carry it with with the other teams
alumni to be able to say that that you've won
four bells and so so much so that that alums
are obnoxious about it. So this senior class has a
chance to do something special if they can, if we
can get it done this weekend, and that this big
senior class can say they've they've won four bells, that's
(21:12):
that's kind of Monon Bell royalty, so to speak. So
you know, we're excited to have the opportunity to do that.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
Today De Paul beat Worcester fifty nine nothing. Next Saturday
they take on their big rival Wabash for the Monon
Bell Brett Deets. Thanks so much for the call. Congratulations
again and good luck next week.
Speaker 7 (21:37):
I appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (21:38):
Thanks, thank you. Paul Conry and I are going to
talk about high school football, taking a look back at
last night's sectionals, looking forward to the regionals. This is
Indiana Sports Talk.
Speaker 2 (21:52):
What a day it's been for exsuming college football in
the state of Indiana. The game that everyone's been talking
about has been hearing all day long. The number two
ranked Indiana Hoosiers getting a massive twenty seven to twenty
four win over the Penn State and Nitney Lyons in
a tiptoe touchdown from Omar Cooper. Here's Gus Johnson on
the Fox broadcast.
Speaker 5 (22:12):
Bendzap it down.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
Fernando Mendoza ended his day nineteen of thirty two hundred
and eighteen yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Other scores
going around in college football Wabash forty two to thirteen
over Oberlin, San Diego forty three to twenty seven over Valperezo,
the number one team of the nation of the Ohio
State Buckeye is taking down the Purdue Boilmakers thirty four
to ten. Marian gets shuts out Judson sixty two to nothing,
(22:51):
Illinois State fifty two to twenty over Indiana State. Taylor
getting a forty two to twenty eight win over Sianna Heights.
Moorhead State US barely gets a win over Butler thirty
one to thirty. DePaul shuts out Wooster fifty nine zero,
Adrian forty four to twenty one over Trying Franklin fifty
nine to fifty seven, over bluffing Hanover gets a fifty
(23:13):
nine to eight win over Auterbinne. Mount Saint Joseph takes
down Manchester forty eight to twenty You Indy sixty six
to twenty one over Southwest Baptist Rose. Holman shuts out
Anderson thirty eight to nothing, and the tenth right team
in the nation, the Nerd Dame Fighting Irish forty nine
to ten over the Navy Midshipman. Regionals are next week.
Here is coaches Conversation with Paul Condre here on Network
(23:34):
Indiana Sports Indiana Sports Talk.
Speaker 1 (23:37):
Welcome back, everybody on Bob Lovel. This is Indiana Sports Talk.
Last night, sectional championships around the state were crowned. One
of those fun nights, one of those exciting nights of
the entire athletic year. Also one of those incredibly sad
nights around the state too. And so someone has to win,
(23:57):
someone has to lose, and careers come to end, and
a whole lot going on with me to talk about it,
because he knows more about it. Than anyone else sees.
The publisher of the Indiana Football Digest, founder creator the
Regional Radio Sports Network, member of the Indiana Football Hall
of Fame, Member the Indiana Sports Writers and Sports Casters
(24:17):
Hall of Fame, and if there was a good Guy
Hall of Fame, he'd very first ballot entrant.
Speaker 8 (24:22):
The one and only Paul Condry. Hello, Paul, Hey, coach.
Great to be with you tonight, and of course has
always excited about as we're getting down the home stretch
of this twenty five football season. It's been an exciting time,
exciting opportunity to be a part of the game that
we love so much. And hey, I wanted to start
this out today, but because we're not going to be
(24:43):
doing the show on Veterans Day. But you know, you
and I have been so blessed because of an amazing
generation of young men and women who continue to support
our initiatives through their service and our armed forces as
so as we honor our vet this coming Tuesday and
we celebrate the two hundred and fiftieth birthday of the
(25:05):
United States Marine Corps in the United States Navy feel
so blessed to be able to do what we do
because of the cover and the blanket of freedom that
they provide for us. So I just want to say
that right from the get go, because that's what's on
my heart, because that's special. But also, twenty six teams
last night, we're fortunate to be able to repeat and
bring home their trophies. But for the forty eight trophy winners,
(25:28):
hold them high, young men and coaches, because you have
achieved the most difficult trophy in all of high school
sports in the Hoosier State. So congratulations to all those
guys and all those special memories that you are able
to achieve last night, something that they'll forever be cemented
in their minds.
Speaker 1 (25:50):
There's nothing better than winning a championship in the ISSA.
I'm always lucky enough to play on four championship teams
at playing field as a kid, like it was yesterday,
quite frankly, and still some of the greatest things ever
did in my life. So I know, I know how
it feels where there's any surprises. I mean, there were
some really really highly anticipated anticipated games last night, and frankly,
(26:16):
from my perspective, they were so evenly matched. I wasn't
going to be stunned whomever won the particular games around
the state.
Speaker 8 (26:23):
Well, there were two games that when I saw the
score says, wow, I didn't see that coming down. Because
our staff here we collectively go through all the games
and we all pick them out, just like you know
most guys will do. But a couple of games that
jumped off the page. I mean number one in Class
four a Mischawaka losing to that scrappy South Bend Saint
Joe Husky team. Yeah, that really jumped off the page.
(26:44):
And ron Kyllie turning the tables on Shatar. Now we're
not just talking about any program that's now won a
lot of games. This is the winning football team as
far as championships in football in Indiana. So that's a
forty two point swing for ron Collie as they won
over Shtard last night. And Robbie Doyle has just established
himself as one of the premier and elite coaches in
(27:06):
the state. So you beat that team, that was a really,
really good win. And I know there were four or
five teams. I know Milon beat North Decatur last night.
That was a team that won during the regular season.
Martinsville Yorktown also had lost to their respective upon its
Penalton Heights and Betford northfound turned the regular season, and
(27:27):
of course the two games that probably most people have
recognized obviously the Westfield Carmel game, which was just an
absolute thriller in overtime, and of course Paul Country's beloved
hover Brickeys were able to turn the table on the
low Red Devils. And once again, that is something that
is always makes the old guy, you know, put a
(27:47):
smile on his face because I still got a couple
of my boys start coaching over that way, and so
I'm excited for them. But that was tournament title number
twenty three for the Purple and Gold, so I was
excited to see that. So to answer that question, not
a lot of surprises when you have twenty six of
forty eight teams repeating that doesn't give you a lot
of margin for Aaron, I does it.
Speaker 1 (28:09):
No, not at all, not at all. And I think
you come into this and we you all try to
surmise who you might be playing and who you're anticipated
to play, and this that and the other things go
well and it comes to fruition like last night on
the show. I mean, I think one of my favorite
calls last night was, you know, the the group trying
(28:35):
to remember here it was. It'll come to me later,
but just understand having having won a championship and how
much it means. And we had we had overtime games,
we had South Buttonham and Riverton Park is an overtime
game that was a that's a good win. That's a great,
great win for South Buttonham over a very good Riverton
(28:56):
Park team.
Speaker 8 (28:57):
Yeah, and Riverton Park is really kind of one of
those those teams this year and you think about them,
it's not a team that's rich in football tradition. It's
quite frankly, it's not a program that's had a lot
of success. And let's say that coach Sorels team has.
They've they've been one of those teams to beat. But
I think Brad Sanders has really done a very formidable job.
(29:20):
You go eleven and one. I'm not saying I mean
they were eight and for a year ago. But this
is not a team that has had a lot of
rich tournament success. But South Pod with a big win,
and I thought that was one that the river to
the park and go back and say, hey, listen, we
gave it our all. And you know that's it's tough
to lose period and at this time, but it's even
(29:41):
tougher to lose it in overtime. And we saw that
same thing with the Westfield. But I you know, you
talk about the overtime games in that Westfield Carmel game,
and I think you and I had this discussion probably
on twelve different different occasions. I told you when Kevin
Right got the job at Carmel High School that he
was going to just change everything because he is a
(30:01):
guy that's rich and tradition, a guy who's just won.
Everywhere he has gone, he has won, and he gave
a Westfield and that car in that Carmel Westfield game
just absolute fits. So for those of you think that
the bus is past Carmel High School and they're not good,
they're just going to be average, well you can forget
that because that's not going to happen. I love what
(30:21):
Josh Mericle I talk with him today actually be a
text message. And that little pop pass on the jump
pass by the over to the tight end to win
the ball game was just a classic, classic game. And
I mean there was some amazing things. One thing that
really jumped out the page, coach, and we certainly this
has to be mentioned here on the Big Show tonight.
(30:42):
But what can we say that we haven't already said
about Kevin O'Shea he goes to Twin Lakes. They haven't
won a championship at Twin Lakes in twenty three season.
And what that tells you is that Kevin o'she now
is a sectional champion at four different schools. Think about
that one when and shoot that one while you know
(31:04):
there's guys that they can get along and they can
go to a school and you know, and a perfect
example Center Grub where they win their fifteenth titlele What
people don't know and that the fifteen years that Eric
has won all those championships. And I heard Eric with
you on the Big Shows last night, But what Eric
didn't tell you is that he's missing four offensive regulars
(31:24):
two defensive regulars that completely changed the outcome. How many
teams can lose six offensive or six players off their
unit right and still go and win a championship. There's
just not a lot of people do. But Eric Moore
is one of the greatest coaches that's ever coached the
game of rofall in our state. And those are some
of the underlying stories that people don't necessarily always hear
(31:47):
and read and talk about, but they certainly are worth mentioning,
especially here on the legendary Indiana sports Talk.
Speaker 1 (31:54):
I was intrigued by the Eastbrook win over Eastern of
Greentown last night one you know, a three point margin.
Jeff Adamson does it again. They come from behind victory
and they find ways to win. And is not surprising
when you know who their coach is.
Speaker 8 (32:11):
No, there's no doubt about another one of the greatest coaches.
And then you go back and you add up the
all the interesting notes that we saw about the game
against Alexandria back on the twenty fourth. You know, should
they have won. Officials call here, Officials call there, this,
that and the other, and to think that here they are,
they won a championship, and yet they were just four
seconds away from not even getting past the first round.
(32:35):
So he's been able to pick them up off the
bootstraps and be able to do that. And that was
just a really really good win against an Eastern Green
Toown team that really had a terrific season. And I
like what Josh Edwards has done. Got he's the last
couple of years, says the last few years. His boys
have been on the football team and taking those horses
to the races and won a lot of races over
(32:56):
the course. So they finished ten and two and it
was a good year for them. And those are two
really good football teams that matched it up at Eastbrook
last night.
Speaker 1 (33:06):
All Right, Paul, hang on here through this school board
update and we will take a look at Friday nights
mashups in the regionals. Should be a lot of fun.
Paul Condre and l come back after the school board update.
On Network Indiana's Indiana Sports Sock.
Speaker 2 (33:23):
Final score, Denver Nuggets get a one to seventeen to
one hundred win against the Indiana Pacers. For the Nuggets,
Nicola Jokicic was leading scorer of the game with thirty
two points. In terms of the Pacers, it was Aaron
Nei Smith willing to score for that team with twenty
five points at Andrew Nemhar twenty two and Pascal Siakam
(33:44):
with fourteen. Pacers are back in action tomorrow night taking
on Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors with an
eight point thirty tip. And you can listen to that
on our flagship station on ninety three to five and
one oh seven to five of the Fan and Apples
Colds back in action tomorrow morning to making on the
Atlanta Falcons at nine to thirty in the morning from Berlin,
and it will be the debut of Sauce Gardner, the
(34:06):
former quarterback for the New York Jets. Cole traded for
him earlier in the week. They gave up two first
round draft picks and wide receiver Ady Mitchell DeForest Buckner
placed on ir with a neck injury. He did not
travel to Berlin. He will miss the next four games.
Samson Ebu Combell is out with a knee injury, along
Taekwon Lewis with a groin injury. Again, kickoff is at
nine point thirty from Berlin, and again you can listen
(34:28):
to that on our flagship station on ninety three five
and one oh seven five the Fan. Earlier today, Indiana
Hoosiers masses twenty seven to twenty four win over the
Penn State Nitny Lyons. Here's Don Fischer on the call.
Speaker 4 (34:41):
Two more chances here forty one seconds to go, DJ
and Omar both bar side Becker near side.
Speaker 3 (34:49):
Mendozeln in the backfield back to throw. Pressure comes again
throws it to the edge of head of touchas made.
Speaker 5 (34:56):
Is that a touchdown? Touchdown? Too bad?
Speaker 3 (35:03):
Then he put his foot down.
Speaker 1 (35:05):
It's a store for the Welcome back, everybody. I'm Bob Lovel.
This is Indiana Sports Talk. We're back with Paul Condrey.
We talked about sectionals last night, so now obviously we're
turning our attention to regional action around the state on
Friday night, Paul. Decent weather has been the case lately,
(35:26):
but now we're getting into the who knows what's gonna happen,
so matchups notwithstanding, it's an exciting Friday night coming up.
Speaker 8 (35:35):
Yeah, let's take just take a look at it. There's
the field of small enough to be able to do that.
In Class one A, we got Lavilla, Pioneer, South Adams
and North Miami sheried in South Putt My Island at Providence.
So what it tell us, you're right there. Providence is
at home, they're the defending champion and they're playing their
best football at this stage of the season. Class two
A South Mott, who's had an incredible year, has got
(35:57):
to go on the road to fifty nine to fifty
nine Broadway in Marrivell to take on Andrean Well, sorry,
Southmont andren is a beast. East Brookileby on the road
at Adam Central. All they have done is been to
the state finals the last five years, or it seems
like the last twenty five years. Lapel and Indianapolis Lutheran.
I think this is one of the most intriguing games
(36:19):
in all of Indiana football coming up this. I think
day Passes team after some an early loss, has kind
of been flying under the raid ar Lapel got a
great quarterback, good things going on there, and then you
got one of the great ones in Reid May. His
team's going to go on take down Brian Olivers Linton team.
So there's a two A field and three A and
goal hit which had an incredible come from behind win
(36:41):
last night, is going to be on the road at
Knox This take on Miles mclofflin, of course, and I
heard your conversation with the legendary Russ Raki last night.
And you got a running back that's averaging ten point
seven yards per carry. Why would you give the ball
to anybody else or why would you even consider doing
anything else? Even Rush, even Rush won't make that mistake.
(37:03):
And then mitched Lures at Twin Lakes Cascade, unbeaten team
is going to be on the road at Lawrenceburg, Indian
Creek at Gibbson Southern. And four A the Bricks on
the road in South Bend taking on the Huskies, Dwinger
at Lebanon, Ron Colly at Yorktown, Martinsville at Heritagehill. So
that's a four A A you can pick all those.
(37:25):
And then in five a game I'm doing on our
flagship station on WFM Marrible at Michigan City Lafia Jeff
at Concord. That game is actually going to be played
at Rice Field and Elkhart. Concord is a really terrific
football team. They won the Northern Lakes Conference. Jeff's a
high scoring for I love that football game. New Palladi
Central East Central maybe a year away, but New Palell
is ready to go Flight Central at Bloomington South and
(37:47):
then the big Boys, they'll lay them up. Penn. What
a great win last night against Crown Point. Their quarterback
went Villistic at Landa Hall for three hundred and some
idyards for passing, and then Fishers at Westfield, Brownsburg at
Decatur Central. How many times have we on the big
show said, we got two defending champions playing for a
state championship. All right, it's because of the success Pasker.
(38:10):
Decatur Central's up in six A. Now so Brownsborg Decatur Central,
and then finally Warren Central takes on Center Grow. We
should have some great football games next Friday. I hope
the weather holds out because it will be a lot
of fun. And when we have this conversation next.
Speaker 1 (38:25):
Saturday, now you know why he's in the Hall of Fame.
As if you didn't already know why. Paul Condrey from
the Regional Radio Sports Network and the Indiana Football Digest, Paul,
you make my weekend. Thanks for taking time. Have a
great week, and we'll talk to you next Friday.
Speaker 8 (38:42):
Appreciate you. Coach God bless now.
Speaker 1 (38:44):
Thanks a lot, Paul, Thank you very much. Notre Dame
with a big win tonight in the snow. He beat
Navy forty nine. Ten. Lynn Clark joins me. Lynn, thanks
so much for the call. I hope you got enough
voice left to make it for a couple of minutes.
Speaker 6 (39:01):
I'm trying right now. One it was probably their most
dominant performance of the season. Freshman quarterbacks CJ. Carr very
sharp thirteen of sixteen, two hundred and eighteen yards, three touchdowns.
He only played three quarters. He showed poise and compand
the Irish rushing attack piled up two hundred and forty
(39:21):
nine yards led by Jeremiah Loves ninety four yards and
two scores plus they got a fifty four yard touchdown
burst from Nias Williams. Defensively, Notre Dame very disciplined against
the triple option. They held the midshipman to two hundred
and twenty eight total yards. Navy was averaging over three
hundred rushing yards a game. They only passed for twenty
two and after halftime they shut down Navy's quarterback. The
(39:45):
difference Notre Dame played clean, balanced, efficient and bob no penalties,
no turnovers and over five hundred yards total offense. That
was the difference from last week.
Speaker 1 (39:58):
Hey win, hang on here for the this short break.
Can you do that?
Speaker 8 (40:02):
Such an.
Speaker 1 (40:04):
Welcome back. Lynn Clark is back with me talking about
Notre Dame's big win over Navy forty nine to ten.
And Lynn, I know your voice is shaky. I won't
keep you long, but CJ. Carr has a pretty solid
day again today, does he?
Speaker 6 (40:20):
Not purtam of sixteen two hundred and eighteen yards, three touchdowns,
no interceptions, only played three quarters. He was very complete
as a quarterback. Good leadership, and that's what's going to
be a difference in these last few games for the funny.
Speaker 1 (40:36):
Iversh absolutely all right, So Pittsburgh comes in to Notre
Dame next week for any matchup, pit what about this matchup.
Speaker 6 (40:52):
Two storied rivalries on the road, tough to win. He
needs to add the same kind of performance they did
against Navy. Can do that, they're in the ball game.
But if they played like they did at Boston College.
But if you go back to that Boston College game,
if you look at the stats, the Tats were very good.
It was just turnovers, not performing in the red zone,
(41:14):
and it was penalties. If Notre Dame can convert in
the red zone, not turn the ball over, no penalties,
it's going to be a close game.
Speaker 1 (41:23):
Doctor Lynn Clark, make sure you pick up a copy
of his new book, Vision, Values and Victories Notre Dame
Style Leadership. Lynn. Thank you. I hope your voice comes
back quickly. Hope you feel better. Thanks for doing this,
and be safe. Thanks Bob, thank you. There's a pro
(41:44):
for you everybody, In case you didn't already know, Doctor
Lynn Clark notre dame. Listen. Now, they just keep winning.
You say whatever you want to say. They just win.
They're just they keep winning. No one wins like ay
you did to day. Very impressive to say the least
(42:04):
Ohio State beat produce thirty four to ten. Tough loss
for the Boilers. But I'm just saying be patient. Things
are getting better. You may not necessarily think so, I
do believe it that things are getting better. So we
are looking ahead at the Coults tomorrow morning at nine
(42:27):
to thirty, taking on Atlanta this game. As you know
in Germany, you also look ahead to the Monon Bell
game coming up on next Saturday. While bashed De Paul
one hundred and thirty first meeting the Monon Bell and
(42:47):
postseason implications are big in this matchup, So enjoy, enjoy
the Colts game, Pacers also in action with Golden State.
Enjoy all of that, and then make sure you get
out Friday night to the regionals and support your favorite teams,
(43:11):
and do it and do it the right way. As
we keep getting closer and closer to the championships at
Lucas Oil Stadium and always a great, great thing. My
thanks to Landon Coons and Caleb Zuver. Great job, gentlemen,
under the difficult circumstances we were tossed tonight. My thanks
(43:32):
to the tremendous stations around the state that bring you
the show every Friday and Saturday night, and for thirty
one years, you've all made us the most listened to
sports talk show in the state's history. It is the
history making a legendary network, Indiana's Indiana Sports Talk
