Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's been a fun hour and a half so far.
Network Indiana's Indiana Sports Talk. My name's Edda Garrison. Fifteen
callers so far, still more to come. The guy who's
been as busy as me, probably even busier because he's
the one that's got to find all these stores scores
to get him to you. It is Network Indiana's Jayce Hodge.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Thank you, Eddie, a pleasure to be with you. Alongside
of producer Caleb Zuver on this Friday night, I'm Jay
Sodge for this Indiana Sports Talk score board update. We'll
begin things talking about the Indianapolis Colts. On Sunday, they
take on the Las Vegas Raiders. The Colts fresh off
a loss that we hear now from Tyler Warren on
how quickly they can move on from this loss.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (00:41):
I think it's you know, the same kind of in
college and now it's it's a very fast moving season,
and you know you have the Monday when you come
and get the corrections and learn from and it's on
to the next next opponent. So you can't that's win
or loser, right, you have a good week, you gotta
move on. You have a bad week, move on. So
it's fast.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
One of the bright spots so far as he's on
the Colts team has been the play of leots, two
lots to the second year defensive edge, and he talks
about how well the overall defensive line is playing so far.

Speaker 5 (01:09):
You know, dudes who are around the ball, We're flocking
to the ball. Dudes doing their job. I mean in
the back end, getting the quarterback the hitch and giving
us time to get to the quarterback. So I mean,
with the linebackers giving us our texts and stuff like that.
So I mean, I feel like overalls of defense in
that room, we're definitely playing, you know, good ball. Maybe
not to our potential at times, sometimes just because we

(01:31):
hold ourselves to a high standard. But now I feel
good with everybody in the room. We're close knit, and
I feel like on the field, we just groove together.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
The Colts and the Raiders from Lucas Oil Stadium Sunday
at one o'clock as the Colts look to stay atop
the AFC south of the Jaguires chasing them down. In
the Major League Baseball, there were four local teams that
made the playoffs. Only two of them remain, The Chicago
Cubs and the Detroit Tigers both of them and act
tomorrow in Game one of the Division Series. The Cubs

(02:03):
play at two to eight against the Milwaukee Brewers in Milwaukee.
The Tigers also hit the rod, but they head out
west to play Seattle and the Mariners at eight thirty
eight pm. We'll see either of those two teams can
move on to the Championship series in next week's final
four teams in Major League Baseball. Now, though, time to
take a look at the high school football scores. Let's
go ahead and take a look, starting at the one

takes down Marion the other game elevenon Danville thirty eight

got to the five A and six A scores.

Speaker 1 (04:42):

(05:04):
with our coaches in some of our fellow my fellow
colleagues in the media, and we will keep the coaches
conversations going with the coach who has been pretty much
perfect since the time he has taken over at Mcconaquaw,
that is Michael Finter's coach. Congratulations on a pretty important
conference win tonight over Lewis cass Hey.

Speaker 6 (05:25):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 7 (05:26):
I appreciate your listeners, I appreciate time talk this evening. Yeah,
wound up being a fun, tight game for us, but
pulled it out in the end. All the cred to
the cast Cash Kings talking about a program that just
perennially is very well dispuned really affected the wing team

(05:46):
and you know, it's the purest form of football to
a lot of folks out there, and we definitely got
our hands full with it tonight or able pull it
out in the.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
End, just based off of looking at just the status
of your quarterback Robinson going into this game. He's got
to be one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the state,
completing seventy three percent of his passes, he doesn't turn
it over, twenty two touchdowns, three picks. What have you
like from his performances this season and how did he
do tonight?

Speaker 7 (06:13):
Well, I think so far, you know, this season and
really his career, his football I two is is kind
of off the charts. He's efficient and he kind of
commands the offense to the point he checks us in
and out of whatever we need based on the situation.
And you know, you got to love that in your
signal caller, right, and so you know that's been pretty

(06:34):
effective tonight. He grew in a lot of ways he
was tasked. We had some miscommunication at times, and uh,
you know, he had to kind of learn on the
fly when he needs to make the decision and when
he needs to you know, look to the sideline to
make the decision as well. We got through some miscues
early and he was able to have a pre efficient

(06:55):
drive for us to seal the game out at times.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
So it worked out tonight twenty one thirteen over Lewis Cast.

Speaker 6 (07:03):
It was Senior Night.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
How many seniors do you have on this year squad
or any that you want to give a shout out
to for either have they performed for your team or
just the overall leadership that they bring to your team.

Speaker 7 (07:15):
Sure, we have ten currently, you know we we tonight
we had to at the end, especially defensively, you know
you turnover on downs or you know, in the second half,
and then we have a punt kind of go awry
as well in the fourth quarter. So with two minutes left,

(07:35):
you look out there and you see faces like Joe Butcher,
counter Aldridge, Carson, hollers Land and Morgan. Some seniors for
us that played in their positions for a real long
time and when the games on the line, sometimes you
got to go to that seniority. And I think those
great form for everybody has washed us in the past
two years. We had some prolific guys last year and

(07:58):
Fuddy Kyleie j Kelly, Brady, Doush, guys that not only
broke program or program standards and records for Maconaquab, but
Fuddy Kyle's fourth and stay Indiana and receiving yards. You know,
aj was another three thousand yard kid, all that stuff.
And so our seniors knew they had some pretty big
shoes to fill. And while physically they maybe not be

(08:20):
able to do that in a lot of ways because
you don't have a kid named or like Fuddy that
comes around once in a while, but you know what,
these seniors have done an excellent job at being leaders
on and off the field. They've done an excellent job
and growing. It's hard for young men at times to

(08:40):
accept that their responsibility is something greater than themselves, and
they've done a fantastic job of doing so and playing
within their roles and in their positions. I'm super proud
of the guys that have led for us. You are Senior.
Night's kind of interesting being as early towards the end
of the year, two games yet and then the sectional

(09:03):
so it's a weird moment where it's not really the
end for him and we continue to look at their
leadership as we make a run here.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
That's Michael Fincher's from Meconic coach. I know you're on
the road and as you highlighted there, you have one
more home game, hopefully in sectional play. What stands out
about Manchester that you've got to prepare for already leading.

Speaker 6 (09:21):
Up to it?

Speaker 7 (09:23):
Well, I mean, you got to love death by triple option, right,
It's always fun to have to defend.

Speaker 6 (09:32):
I respect it completely.

Speaker 7 (09:35):
They've got a quarterback.

Speaker 6 (09:36):
That's pretty prolific.

Speaker 7 (09:39):
At times, I'm not entirely sure that it's triple option.
I think it's just yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and
keep it, and that's pretty effective for him. They've got
an offensive line that's big up front, a defense that
gets after it. They've always been very aggressive on that
side of the ball as far as I've known them.
So yeah, it's just listen the tr see and a

(10:01):
lot of these small conferences in rural Indiana, you know,
they're just tight competition and in the margin for Eric
darry Sin and so we just have to keep chugging
forward here and just make a game to game. We
know we're going to be in a dogfight again, and
whether it's relying on those seniors or a couple of
young guys that stand down and start making some plays

(10:23):
for you, like Chase Washburn tonight, for us, you know,
it's a total tea back burn and I hope that
we keep the thing rolling.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
Thanks coach, best of luck, enjoy the rest of your weekend.
That is Michael Finters from mcconicook more to come on
ist scoreboard updates. I told you I get five A
and six as scores. Just go ahead and take a
peek at those beginning at the five A level, East
Central blows out Connorsville sixty three nil. Southport over Tarou

(10:51):
Hosts North Ofego thirty six to nothing. Lafayette Jefferson forty
nine to sixteen over Cocomo Jeffersonville forty two, twenty seven
winners over New Albany Playing Field blows out Franklin Central
thirty to six. How about Cathedral getting the win twenty
one point fifteen over Center Grove Whitelin thirty five fourteen

(11:12):
winners over Mooresville Chesterton They beat Lake Central twenty seven
to six. Crown Point blows out Laport forty two to seven.
Michigan City gets a big win a forty point winner
Reportage forty three to three to final score there and
the number one team in Class five A, New Palestine
sixty five to three winners over Shelbyville. At the Class

(11:33):
six A level, a lot of blowouts Brownsburg thirty eight
to six over Zionsville, Laurence Central forty nine to fourteen
over North Central, the cater Central sixty nine to seven
over Greenwood Carmel forty three dozing winners over Ben Davis,
Fort Wayne, Northrop thirty five fourteen over fort Wayne Schneider Martinsville,
forty six to twenty one over Perriam Meridian, and then

(11:54):
Laporte we what e mentioned. Then fifth in Central, though
they weren't a close game. Today Fishers thirty six to
thirty five winners over the Flashes and another close game
as well Warren Central. They lose by eight after leading
by a lot early in the game. They lose to
Lawrence North forty nine to forty one. Finally, the Shamrocks
of Westfield they get a big win thirty eight to

(12:15):
twenty one as they continue on in their season. I'm
Jaysons this network in Vienna Sports Update, hicehob On that long, Jayson,
You've only got two more lefts. On week number seven
of the high school football season, my name is Eddi Garrison,
filling in for the coach Bob Lovell on Network Indiana's
Indiana Sports Talk. I'm now joined by a legend, Mike

(12:37):
Scovara from Tigers Sports Network Evansville Memorial twenty eight, Evansville
Rights seven.

Speaker 6 (12:43):
Mike. Good evening, Eddie.

Speaker 8 (12:46):
It's great to talking with you, and I've got head
coach John Hurley, but the number one in class three
A Memorial Tigers. They were twenty eight seven winners over
number ten in Class four A Evansville Wright and they
did it with a stingy defense and enough offense to

(13:07):
come away with a victory and a seven and zero.
Right now, as the Tigers have now won sixteen straight
regular season ballgames, and really a couple of touchdowns in
the second quarter gave them a fourteen nothing lead. One
was on a eight yard touchdown reception by Luke Doctory
from quarterback Luke Brown, and then the defense took over,

(13:30):
as we'll talk about Grayson Carter in a little bit
later in length. But the junior linebacker grabbed up a
fumble fourteen yards later he's in the end zone and
the Tigers led fourteen nothing at half, and Memorial comes
right out the first possession of the second half and
Doctor gets a touchdown on this time on a run

(13:51):
of sixteen yards, and then the defense sealed up as
senior linebacker Connor O'Donoghue steps in front of the pass
and runs it back sixty four yards. Rights gets a
late touchdown to avert the shutout. But again Eddie, the
Tigers middle linebacker Grayson Carter on officially sixteen tackles, and

(14:16):
Ben Johnson, the defensive coordinator, his team came up with
thirteen tackles for losses. So that's the game of the nutshell.
Memorial becomes in Evansville. We've got seven schools that are
in the city of Evansville, so they crown a city
champion every year, and Memorial just has Vincenns and Castle left.

(14:41):
So the Tigers not only remain undefeated at seven and zero,
but they're also champions of Evansville City and happy John
Hurley here to give you some more insights on the
ball game, Eddie.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
Thanks Mike, and overall on the season. Coach, I'm just
kind of looking over the season. You've your group as
a team defensively is probably been putting together one of
the best defensive seasons in school history. I would assume
you've only allowed one score in five different games and
two scores and one and overall the defense has been
really really stout for your club this year.

Speaker 8 (15:17):
Yeah, I mean defensively last few years, we've you know,
we continually approved in this year. Coach Johnson and defensive
staff done a nice job getting kids ready to go.
And you know, we've had kids that great and Carter
and Kennor o'donne you really step up and JJ Lowry,
those guys, you know, three year starters for us, but
they've done a.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
Nice job offensively. Coach, who's been one of the namestays,
a guy who you can count on every single week
to perform for your team.

Speaker 8 (15:47):
Well, Dylan Kennrick, our running back, has really been a
mainstay for us, and tonight he had some tough yards.
I thought Riots was pretty good up front and defense
front seven and he's done a nice job for us.
A little bit banged up a little bit offensively. And
Luke Brad has done a nice job for us protecting
his football and be an opportunistic in the passing game,

(16:08):
but he's been real efficient for us as well.

Speaker 1 (16:11):
Coach, overall, you've been at the school for eighteen years.
Where does the season rank so far in terms of
collection of guys with the mixture of talent compared to
some of the other teams that you've had.

Speaker 8 (16:22):
Well, that's a tough one to answer, but I know
this is a different group. This is a pretty loose group,
but they're awful competitive and they come ready to play
each night. And the thing that you know we're trying
to work on is maybe get better during the week
so we can be a lot cleaner on Friday night.
But I'll tell you what, they're a competitive group.

Speaker 1 (16:41):
Only two games left in the regular season Senior Night.
It looks like for the regular season is next week
against Vincent's Lincoln. Coach, wish you nothing but the best
of luck. Thank you for calling in and congratulations.

Speaker 6 (16:51):
On the win.

Speaker 8 (16:52):
All right, thank you very much, appreciate you.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
Also thank to Mike Scavarro for making that one happen.
From the Tigers Sports Network. Josh Miracle is the head
coach Westfield. They defeated Avon tonight thirty eight twenty one. Coach,
congratulations on the win.

Speaker 9 (17:05):
Thank you, appreciate you having us on, coach.

Speaker 6 (17:08):
How did this game play out for you tonight?

Speaker 9 (17:11):
Yeah, I think Avon's a well coached team, and you
know they've been putting up some big time numbers as well.
So just credit to coach Gibson and his staff. You know,
we were able to get up I think ten twenty
four or fourteen going in a half and second half.
Just you know, our defense came out with some timely takeaways.
I think they extended out a little bit there. You know,
the whole night, the offense felt like just you know,

(17:34):
kind of a good one two punish combination with the
pass and run game clicking. So, you know, kudos are
our offensive staff and coach Clicker for getting those guys.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
Prepared last week a difficult loss to Brownsburg fourteen to ten.
What did you like about the overall preparation and the
response from your players this week in practice and ultimately
today in executing the game plan against Avon.

Speaker 9 (17:57):
Yeah, great question. I think you know, I was just
out of our guys. It's hard sometimes off an emotional
week where you feel like, you know, you came up
just short there in a pretty heated game. And you know,
I think our guys responded well, just understanding the process
of continuing to get better, and you know, they had
a good week of practice and preparation and then you know,
you never know how you're going to handle a road

(18:18):
trip there, and I thought our guys stepped up and
you know, came to play at the very beginning of
the game.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
Not to be like coach Bob Lovell here likes to
ask this question, but who played well for you tonight?

Speaker 10 (18:29):
Yeah?

Speaker 9 (18:29):
I think I was, you know, proud of our offensive line.
I think it starts up front there. But you know,
definitely both quarterbacks Cooper Melvin Aiden Grabowski both had some
good explosive plays in there. You know, I thought we
had some younger guys step up, whether it's Andrew Noble
or like Cleven Deer or Caden Snow. So it was
nice to see the young guys continue to prove on.
Oh and then defensively, I just think we had multiple guys.

(18:52):
You know, we had a couple key takeaways from Wade
Wash Show and Kato June and you know a couple
of guys there. So it was my to see kind
of multiple guys get involved.

Speaker 6 (19:03):
Next up for your Shamrock squad is Fisher's. Next week
it will be Senior Night. Coach, congratulations on the win tonight.
Wish you nothing but the best of luck next week
against the Tigers.

Speaker 9 (19:12):
Thanks appreciate it. Have a good night.

Speaker 1 (19:14):
That's Josh Miracle, a head coach of the Westfield Shamrocks.
Tanner Camp from the regional radio Sports network has kindly
been patient and waiting on hold Tanner. Tonight, Penn defeats
Elkhart thirty seven to twelve.

Speaker 6 (19:26):
How did it happen?

Speaker 10 (19:28):
Well, coach, it started from the very beginning. I mean,
you need to remember Penn is coming last year. They lost.
Elkhart beat Penn at their homecoming seven to three. So
certainly Pete Riardon's team had a little bit of extra
motivation coming into tonight to try to stay undefeated in
the Northern Indiana Conference. But I mean, Bob or Eddie,
it all started with the facts that you know. I mean,
the Kingsman had a chance to get a score, but

(19:49):
they fumbled the football. Then Elkhart marches down the field
and scores to go up six zero. But Pete Reardon's team,
they came back from down double digits against Missionwalk and
they do the same thing tonight. So Penn does this.
As of junior quarterback land in whole, how about this
twelve of seventeen for two hundred and eighty seven passing yards,
two touchdowns, and he did have an interception, But how
about this, that's a fifteen to one touchdown interception ratio.

(20:12):
So Land and All has been spectacular at that quarterback
spot for the Kingson and his favorite target is Buddy Hurley.
He had seven catches for two hundred and nine yards
in one of the scores, and coldon Hernandez. How about
this Eddie. He can run, he's a running back, he's
the defensive back who leads the team with interceptions and
he's even returned a punt for a kickoff. So I
called him the senior Swiss Army Knife for holding her.

(20:34):
Nandez and this Penn defense, they're called the wild bunch
for a reason. How about eleven sackson Knight against the
Elkhart Lions dolphinse So I tell you what, Pete Reardon's team,
this was a big win for them. I mean, when
you lose on your homecoming from a season ago, you
circle that team in red. So a big win for
the Penn and Kingsman in their fellow six A rival
in the NIIC.

Speaker 1 (20:52):
Yeah, Penn is in an absolutely loaded six A class
this year, fifth right now in the rankings in when
you mentioned eleven sacks, that is certainly something that track
and as you get closer and closer to the start
of the tournament, you're hoping that defense for paying can
continue to play like that.

Speaker 10 (21:07):
And then coach, that's absolutely and you got to remember
Pete Reardan when he was the longtime defensive coordinator for
Corey Yeoman. I mean, he prides on his defense. And
there's a kid you may know his dad a little bit,
Vinnie Freeman, which is Marcus Freeman Son. He's actually going
to Cornell to be a wrestler next year. But he
is at the heart of that Wild Bunch defense. I mean,
he tackles so hard, didn't have as many as he
would like, but he is still such a big impact

(21:28):
on that Wild Bunch defense. So, I mean the once
the two scores that Penn gave up, I mean Pete
reard and pulled his defense aside, and he was adamant
with them. So he prides himself on defense. And outside
of those two scores, I mean, the Penn defense looks
spectacular and like you said, in a loaded sectional, especially
with Crown Point being another team that is going to
give Penn some competitive battles. It should be a good

(21:49):
test over these next two weeks to find out where
the Kings and stack up before the ping pond balls
fall and they find out where they'll play in sectional play.

Speaker 1 (21:56):
Nights up for the King's been New Prairie. That's a
seven thirty kickoff and that'll be the senior night for
the seniors at Penn Tanner thanks for.

Speaker 10 (22:03):
The call, EDDI appreciate you greatly, my friend.

Speaker 1 (22:08):
That's Tanner Camp for the regional radio Sports Network. Still
to come, Paul Condrey and David Deaton from WKLO. Next up, though,
Jace Hodge with another scoreboard update on Network Indiana's Indiana
Sports Talk.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
I'm j Sage does Indiana Sports Talk score board update?
Two more chances to tell you all the final scores
from across the state, So let's try to run through
them as quickly as we can. These last two opportunities
to getting at the one A level. North Judson San

fifty nine, Riverton Park fifty nine to six winners over Attica,

(23:07):
Triton wins twenty eight sixteen over Casting in West Central,

Puttingham thirty three to forty eight losers against Northview at
the two A level. Some more final scores to tell
you about ok Hill def He's Blackford fifty four to seven.
Western Brew Boone loses to Southmont twenty six to twenty three.

(23:28):
Scottsburg blows out clarks Clarksville seventy to seven. Lewis Casts
they lose twenty one to thirteen Paoli. They win forty

Speaker 1 (24:04):
Final half hour of Network Indiana's Indiana Sports Doc. Thank
you for joining us. David Eaton from WKLO has been
patiently waiting all hold. I thank him dealer if you
having to listen to my horrible questions. He had the
call of Silver Creek and North Harrison tonight, David, good evening.

Speaker 11 (24:21):
How are you oh doing all right?

Speaker 10 (24:23):
Eddie?

Speaker 11 (24:24):
How about you?

Speaker 6 (24:25):
You know what I can't complain?

Speaker 1 (24:26):
They asked me kind of last minute to fill in
for coach lovel and I'm just happy people are still
calling in.

Speaker 11 (24:31):
Well, it's always great to get to call in, and
of course with Bob Lovell obviously a living legend in
the broadcasting. But from what I've been hearing, you've been
doing a really good job tonight. So a great job
with considering how last minute it was.

Speaker 1 (24:46):
I appreciate that. Tonight Silver Creek they pick up their
second consecutive win, third win the last four games over
North Harrison forty eight twenty eight. How did it all
play out tonight for the Dragons?

Speaker 11 (24:57):
Well, North Harrison had the ball first, and it seemed
like they had some things going on that first drive,
but obviously the Cougars kind of stifled themselves, and that's
kind of the way the Knight went. The Cougars had
way too many penalties in this game, and including a
fifteen yard penalty on their first drive and then on
the punt the snap was kind of low. The punter

(25:17):
who also was the quarterback tonight, Kateen Hayne for the Cougars.
He ends up taking a knee, taking a big loss
on the play, and then Silver Creek took advantage, went
three plays sixteen yards to get a touchdown. And Drake
Oltman ended up being the star of the game for
the Dragons. He had four rushing touchdowns in this game
and only carried the ball seven times tonight for Silver

(25:38):
Creek for thirty two yards. Silver Creek ran the football
well enough had excuse me, one hundred and forty four
rushing yards tonight, but the passing game Cameron Black the
senior quarterback for the Dragons. He goes six to eight
for one hundred and twenty six yards and two touchdowns.
And this was a back and forth game early on Eddie.
This was a game where Silver Creek got that first

(25:59):
touch or North Harrison came back, got a touchdown, went
for two got the lead eight seven. Silver Creek counter
got up fourteen to eight because of Black finding yonte
Gazaway for a nineteen yard touchdown, and then after that
Cougar's come back Caden Hayne quarterback sneak touchdown from one
yard out, two point conversion made at sixteen to fourteen

(26:20):
late second. But then where Silver Creek turned the game
in the scoring was on the next drive, first play
from their own twenty eight, Black to Gazaway on a
seventy two yard touchdown pass in stride and the Dragons
went for two unsuccessful got up twenty to sixteen, and
that began a run of twenty unanswered points that carried
over into the third quarter. The Cougar's never fully recovered

(26:43):
on homecoming night tonight, and so for Silver Creek they
go on to win forty one to twenty eight, and
a game where North Harrison just had way too many
penalties eleven total on the night. So North Harrison two
and five right now, and a team that's got a
lot to work on of course going into section here
as we get down to the home stretch, but a
really good game for Silver Creek to night. It certainly

(27:05):
a confidence boost as they head into the home stretch themselves.

Speaker 6 (27:08):
For Silver Creek.

Speaker 1 (27:09):
Yeah, Brownstown Central on the road next week for North
Harrison Senior Night against Clarksville. What does David Deton have
next Friday.

Speaker 11 (27:16):
Night, Well, we are actually going to be going to
corerid In for their senior Night. The cord and Central
Panthers have the Madison Cubs coming in and we were
kind of tracking Coridon's game with Charlestown. That one came
right down to the wire down there in Corridon tonight.
The Pirates get away with a twenty seven to twenty
six win. So after Corridon Central lost on the road

(27:36):
at Salem last week and had a really tough night defensively,
they came back played a lot better tonight. So I
think Luke Keller's team's got to be feeling a lot
better about their position going into next week. And it's
been a tough season for Maddison so far. But the
Panthers get one last home game in the regular season
and they'll see if they can pick up win number
three and get a little bit of something going as

(27:58):
they get closer to the postseason than there in Panther Country.

Speaker 1 (28:02):
That's David Eaton from Davi wk KLO. David, enjoy the
rest of your Friday night and have a great weekend.

Speaker 11 (28:08):
All right, thanks Eddie, you too.

Speaker 6 (28:10):
I'll try my best.

Speaker 1 (28:11):
Paul Condrey, a regular voice on Friday and Saturday nights
from the Regional Radio Sports Network and the author of
the Indiana Football High School Digest. Paul, you have the
call to night of Maryville and Valparaiso forty eight twenty one.
Good evening.

Speaker 3 (28:26):
How are you great? To be with you, Eddie, I'm bested, coach.
Hope it gets well soon. This was all Maraville. They
jumped out to a thirteen and nothing lead, and this
one before Valparaiso came roaring back, make it in fourteenth thirteen.
It was a It was a Michael Hill show. Quite frankly,
that was the tale of the tape tonight for the

(28:47):
Maryville Pirates twenty three at thirty three three hundred yards,
passing four touchdowns in a pick and just because that
wasn't good enough, he ran the ball eleven times for
two hundred and thirty eight yards two touchdowns. He was
responsible for six scores as well as five hundred and

(29:08):
twenty nine yards of total offense. Parville out distancing Valparaso
six hundred and thirty two yards compared to Valposts three
hundred and thirty three. It was a very nip and
tuck affair in the first half. Marrable made a lot
of great adjustments in the second half, both defensively and offensively,

(29:28):
and they win going away to knock off the Valparaso
Vikings in the sixty seventh meeting all time between these
two schools.

Speaker 1 (29:38):
Paul, I don't know about you, but over five hundred
of yards of offense by one person. That's not acceptible.
That's not enough.

Speaker 3 (29:45):
Yeah, those are like Miles McLoughlin numbers at this stage
of the football season. I know he's having a great year.
But for Knox, but day would it was just a
great performance and a terrific job finding a wide variety
of talent, a wide receivers and Ron l Lewis smoot balls, Jordan's,

(30:05):
you name it. He was able to find guys in
the right place. It was a pretty good night at
the office. In the first half for Valparaiso running back
Gage Philly, he had his best game of his junior season.
But they made all kinds of adjustments in the third
quarter after the halftime. So the homecoming event for Valparaiso
spoiled a little bit by a really really talented Maryvale team,

(30:29):
a Marrival team that's probably going to run the table
finish out the regular season, and I'm gonna flat out
tell you they'll win their sectional and we could potentially
see them playing in the regional and you never know,
Ifvalpariso gets hot, gets a good draw, they could be
meeting again in the postseason, like to have for the
last three seasons. So it was Valfo losing to Maryvelt tonight,

(30:53):
forty eight to twenty one.

Speaker 1 (30:56):
I know typically you're on a coach on Saturday night,
but it's been brought to my attention and it's either
your birthday or it's around your birthday. So first and foremost,
happy birthday and enjoy the Saturday night and off.

Speaker 3 (31:07):
All right, thanks a lot, Eddie. I appreciate the birthday
wishes and the hope coaches feeling better.

Speaker 1 (31:12):
Oh, coach is doing fine. He's just had an event
that he couldn't get out of. And I think PAULI
and Bob's having a great time tonight and tomorrow night
as well. So thank you for the calling nonetheless, enjoy
the rest of your weekend.

Speaker 3 (31:22):
All right.

Speaker 6 (31:23):
Thanks our final caller.

Speaker 1 (31:25):
As of now, Steve Cole But from waxl and Santa Claus, Indiana.
Heritage Hills just dominates Mountain Vernon a posy tonight, sixty
nine to seven. Steve, good evening.

Speaker 8 (31:35):
How are you good, Eddie?

Speaker 12 (31:37):
Thanks for taking my call. Yeah, real nice bounce back
when for Heritage Hills after falling on the road at
Gibson Southern last week and Patriots back on the field
trying to correct some of the flaws that were exposed
by Gibson Southern last week, and man were they dominant tonight.
Eight first half touchdowns. They were up fifty six to

(31:58):
seven at halftime. The twenty seven plays in the first
half and scored eight touchdowns in twenty seven plays. Every
time they snapped the football they averaged almost fourteen yards
per play. It was that kind of a first half.
Five touchdowns through the air for old Miss Sinee Jet Goldsberry,

(32:18):
four of them to Peyton Gray, who's actually the team's
second leading receiver. Tyler Rutsher who's going to Oklahoma had
one in that first half, and then three rushing touchdowns
in the first half. Second unit guys ran a couple
in in the second half and it was quite a
night for Hair to Chills against a bit of a

(32:38):
banged up Mount Vernon of Posey County ball club tonight.
They can be a good ball club when they're healthy,
but they were not totally healthy tonight, and Here to
Chills was on a mission after that loss last week,
so they came out and made a running clock for
the second half for the sixth time in seven games

(32:58):
on the season. They'll have They'll go on the road
for the final two to North Posey, who's the champions
of the Pocket Athletic Conference Small School Division, and that'll
be a test for the Patriots next Friday on the
road against a good North Posey ball club. But good
bounce back for Heritage Gills tonight.

Speaker 1 (33:17):
I was really impressed with Todd Wilkerson's team last year.
And Steve, I hate to do this, but you might
hang it on hold again and we can continue talking
about this Heritage.

Speaker 8 (33:24):
Hills too, sure, Eddie absolutely.

Speaker 1 (33:27):
At Steve Cole from WAXL in Santa Claus, Indiana. We'll
continue the conversation. We'll talk a little bit more about
Tyler Rexer and Jet Goldsberry, two guys that I saw
last year in the state championship game, just absolutely dominate,
specifically Jet Goldsbury. That dude is a Swiss Army knife
and Ole Miss got themselves a hell of a football
player and cannot wait to hear what else Steve Colb
has to say about Jet Goldsbury, what he's doing in

(33:49):
his senior year, and the same for Tyler Rutxer. And
hopefully the Patriots can make their way down to Central
Indiana again so fans in Central Indianapolis can see what
type of football players Todd Wilkerson.

Speaker 6 (34:00):
We'll talk about that. Next on is t.

Speaker 2 (34:02):
For the final time tonight, I'm Jay Sage for this
Indiana Sports Talk scoreboard update. Let's get all through all
the games that we can here. The four five and
six A level Battle of Evansville Evansville Memorial takes on
Evansville Rights twenty eight to seven. Another Evansville battle, Evansville
Harrison defeats Evansville Central twenty eight to fourteen. South Bend
Saint Joseph over South Bend Riiley twenty one to six.

(34:25):
Ron Collie. They lose to LaSalle twenty two to fourteen.
Harrison they lose at home to Bishop Schattard forty to
twenty four. Boonville over Princeton thirty four to six. Moorsville
falls at home thirty five fourteen to Whiteland, Charlestown twenty
seven twenty six overcord In Central, Northwood defeats Plymouth forty

(34:46):
one to fourteen, and finally Richband defeats Marion thirty five
two thirty four. Moving into the five A level, Bloomington
South defeats six A Columbus North fifty five two twenty four.
Chesare if it's like Central twenty seven to six, Plainfield
over Franklin Community, thirty to six months c Central over
Anderson forty two to six, La Faye Jefferson forty nine

(35:09):
sixteen over Cocomo and Floyd Central forty one twenty two
over Bedford North Lawrence. Take a look at some of
those big games at the six to A level. Warren
Central they lose forty nine to forty one against Lawrence North,
Michigan City forty three to three winners over Portage crowd
point forty two to seven over Laporte Columbus North. Once

(35:30):
again they fail by thirty one at home. Cathedral gets
the win twenty one to fifteen over Center Grove Westfield
thirty eight twenty one over Avon Noblesville. They lose thirty
one to six against Hamiltons Southeastern.

Speaker 1 (35:49):
Nice job tonight, Jase on Network Indiana's Indiana Sports Talk
Jasidge everybody. Unfortunately for Jase, he's a Yankees fan. I
can't stay in Yankees fans, but I like Jase even
though he has won, so I guess I can look
past it. Steve Colet from Waxl and Santa Claus, Indiana
rejoins us. Steve last year I had the I was

(36:09):
on the Champions Radio Network for Heritage Chills for Todd
Wilkinson's group when they won the state championship. And obviously
it's pretty easy to you know, see Tyler Rutxer and
Jet Goldsberry for you know how talented they are. But
I just sometimes I just wish that the state of
Indiana was a little more concise so that people in
central Indiana like myself can make the drive down to

(36:30):
southern Indiana to see these two guys. Because Jet Goldsberry,
as you highlighted, he's going to old Miss Tyler Rutser
going to Oklahoma, and they are arguably the two best
players in the state when it comes to the football side.

Speaker 12 (36:42):
They're they're very, very talented, and it's a reason why
Herdon Chills has had six running clocks in the second
half in seven games now. And they just they just
can with the way the three parts of their team
have worked together. Their defense has been extremely good. Their
place kicker they here to Chills coaches strongly believe as

(37:05):
a high D one kicker Carter Payne as a senior,
and he's putting everything eight to nine yards deep in
the end zone for touchbacks. So the opposition starts at
the twenty, the defense generally gets them three and out
if they don't create a turnover, and the punt return
team usually sets up very good field position. And then
the offense, it's just been unstoppable. And yeah, Winchell and

(37:28):
ruts are a big part of it, but there's some
other really good talented athletes on that offense that it
makes it very hard for a defense to match up
most nights because of the number of athletes on that
football field. And yeah, Rutsher is getting a whole lot
more attention from defenses this year. It's opened things up

(37:49):
for his fellow senior, Peyton Gray, who had four touchdown
catches tonight, because he's a very good receiver at his
own right, playing his second year of varsity after having
not played football for a while. And then they've got
another guy who's a very good athlete, Mike Attohler, playing
in the slot. He's a junior playing for his first
time in a couple of years, and he's a big

(38:11):
weapon there. And so yeah, they they've got several weapons
to go to. And then Goldsberry's ability to run the football,
sometimes his designed runs and sometimes in scramble mode he
can he can just tear a defense apart. It's it's
They've been a whole lot of fun to watch over
these last couple of years and moved up to four

(38:33):
A do the success factor. So we'll see how the
four A tournament roles for these guys as they finish
up the regular season here in the next couple of weeks.

Speaker 1 (38:43):
I thought the one thing that was so impressive about
Jack Goldsbury for me when I saw him in that
state championship game last year was just the fact that
you know, typically you don't see the star quarterback also
play the other way and start on the defensive side.

Speaker 6 (38:55):
And I thought he was as good of.

Speaker 1 (38:57):
A safety in that game last year as he was
as a quarterback. Is he still playing both ways this
year in his senior year? And do you know if
there are any indications yet on whether he'll play quarterback
or safety next year?

Speaker 6 (39:12):
For Lane Kiffin.

Speaker 12 (39:14):
He is still playing both ways. That is a Heritage
Hill staple, by the way, and I'll talk more about
that in a second if we have time. But yes,
I think he's been recruited as an athlete, but probably
more specifically on the defensive side of the ball at
Old Mess. But I mean as good as an athlete
as he is. If Lane Kiffen and his staff watched

(39:37):
some of Jack Goldsberry, and I think they had one
of their assistant coaches actually at Heritage Hills tonight, or
at least he was expected to be there, they'll see
some of the things Jack can do, and maybe they'll
find some ways to get him on the field and
other capacities as his career develops. But I think he's
being developed on the recruited rather on the defensive side

(39:59):
of the ball. But yeah, go and all the way
back to the legendary Bob Clayton days at Herita Chills
Indiana Football Hall of Famer. Here to Chills is their
guys all play both ways. You don't play at Haret
to Chills as a one way player. It just doesn't happen.
They generally don't have the depths for that. They're not
a two platoon team and never have been. And they
kind of take pride in the toughness of having those

(40:22):
guys play both ways.

Speaker 1 (40:23):
Steve, enjoy the rest of your Friday night of whatever
it is that you can make up with it and
have a great weekend.

Speaker 6 (40:29):
Thanks Eddie, you too at Steve Cole.

Speaker 1 (40:31):
From wax L and Santa Claus Indiana Heritagechills sixty nine
over mount for an in posey seven when we come back.

My name's Eddie Garrison. And have to thank everybody who
called in tonight, all twenty one callers, and it was
a gym pack Friday night. You know, sometimes I just

(41:33):
I just got a little nervous going into this, going
into Friday night. You know, You're something I'm not typically
used to coming in, you know, And I have to
applaud Coach for doing this for over thirty years now.
On showing up on a Friday night and you pretty
much come unprepared and just kind of go with the
flow and gotta manage the.

Speaker 6 (41:50):
Clock, gotta manage everything.

Speaker 1 (41:51):
And I know Coach says this all the time that
his job is just to get you from update to updates.
So tonight was from me. It was me just getting
you from Jase Hodge and Jase Hodge and hopefully we
did a good job at doing that. Thank you to
all the coaches and broadcasters that called in tonight on
what was a fantastic week number seven of high school

(42:11):
football in the state of Indiana. I know a very
close game that went into overtime in Central Indiana where
I am talking to you from was Franklin Central and
Fishers that went to overtime. Franklin Central falls to Fishers
tonight thirty six, thirty five. Garrett and Fairfield also went
to overtime twenty one fourteen, with Garrett coming out with

(42:34):
the win. Knox and Try this game. If you like points,
then you certainly would be in favor if you were
at at this game, sixty one to fifty nine. In
overtime Logan Sport in weslof you had forty four forty
three and ot Nightstown with that win over Try by
the way, sixty one to fifty nine. So those are

(42:54):
just some of the overtime games. And the last one
Park Tutor in Westdale fifty eight to fifty west Dal
Top being Park Tutor tonight, So that'll wrap up Week
number seven of the high school football season. We'll see
if I can track down Kyle Nennen ripped tomorrow night
to kind of chat about some takeaways from week number

(43:15):
seven and start peviewing the start of what is going
to be a very, very fun and competitive state tournament
with all six classes. It seems pretty open on a
couple of them, and in class six, hey, you've got
a lot of really, really really good teams highlighted by Brownsburg.
Also after noon a week from Sunday, Bob Lovel Paul

(43:37):
Condrey on the Champions Network with the Pairing Show. They
go from six o'clock to eight o'clock PM, and that
is how you can find out where your team will
be playing in the first round of Sectionals, and they
if your team is on a bye week, that is
what Paul Condrey and Bob Lovel will inform you on

(43:57):
a week from Sunday Tomorrow night, it is all college
football and it is all Colts preview. Hopefully Rob Blackman
will join us, Matt Taylor will join us tomorrow night
to preview Colts and Raiders and what could be an
interesting game on Sunday, because this is a game that
the Raiders need to win to kind of save their
season to get back on the right foot, and the
Colts obviously just need to go out and take care

(44:20):
of business. Greg rig Saw calling as well. But I
have to thank Jay's Hide for the updates tonight. Great
job by Caleb Zuver, He'll be back tomorrow night with me.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
