campaign to Miami and Texas A and m Burdue last
week in a blowout. Again today Notre Dame crushing Arkansas
fifty six to thirteen, number twenty two Irish win on
the road. How about four touchdown passes for CJ. Carr,
(02:03):
two of them to Jeremiah Love, who had four total
scores on the day.
Speaker 5 (02:08):

how the Colts need to go about defending Matthew Stafford in.
Speaker 6 (03:52):
Crew, which got to be locked in defensively, we know
he's a great player, and then defensively looking at them,
you know they got a good front versus a hell
of a pass rusher. They got some good players on defense,
so to be a hell of a challenge, you know.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
Going out to La tomorrow, the Indiana Fever in Game
four of the WNBA Semi Finals backs against the Wall,
facing elimination after losing to Las Vegas eighty four to
seventy two last night. Fever facing elimination three pm tip

Cardinals clinch home field advantage in their NL wild Card series,

we'll see who clinches.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
Welcome back everybody on Bob Lovel. This is Network Indiana's
Indiana Sports Talk, brought to you by Indiana Donor Network.
Brendan King, you're the man. You're back in town having fun.
This this anchor gig is a sweet gig for you,
is it not.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
Grant keeps you know, keeps me busy, get to hang
out with you, get to chip in on a little
radio and talking to sports.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
I mean, come on, all right, how are your mom
and dad? You went back You were back in Naples,
sneaking a trip back to Naples. I like that.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
Yeah, everybody, obviously thank you for keeping it secretive last week.
But my sister Bridget got engaged, so that was cool,
and I appreciate you. She did. She did. That's that's
the important part of it, right. But yeah, everybody does well. Yeah,
and everybody's happy, which is the big thing. Right.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
So you're you're sitting in for me in uh what
a week or two weeks whatever it is next week.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
I don't think I think that's Eddie Garrison coach.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
Eddie Garrison is sitting in for me because I'm you know,
I have our daughter has four step children, and this
was the year where two of them decided to get married.
Were wrapping we're wrapping one of them up next weekend.
I think it is. It's yeah, it's next weekend. And
it's it's fun when they when they you know, we
(06:12):
heard about it and told us about the date and
all that, and it was, uh, can you take a night?
Can you take a weekend off the show? And I go, yeah,
because you know what nowadays, look, it's weddings are more
than more than just weddings. You have, you know, the
wedding parties male and female both go extravagant places and
(06:37):
spend tons and tons of money. And then so we have,
uh we are not going to so you have it's
in Indianapolis, and so you have Thursday or Friday nights,
you have the rehearsal dinner, which is fine. I understand that. Uh,
(07:00):
and that's also rehearsal dinner slash welcome. Yeah, so you
got that, so that that entire night, that's Friday night,
So that's that's a shot, and that's going to be
down the Commissioner's Row down by Gainbridge and then Saturday
wedding and reception all that, that's the Columbia Club. So
(07:20):
so so I'm all set.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
And so you're saying you're going to be across the
street from where you would normally host.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
No, no, that's exactly right. I told I told my daughter.
I said, look, I'll just go ahead and you know,
I'll I said, I don't have to clear my calendar.
I'll just do the show. I'll walk, you know, I'll
walk from him from the building. I'll walk across the
circle you guys at the reception. You know, easy peasy,
it's it's just taking care of Everything's good. So that
(07:49):
didn't go over very well.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
I wouldn't imagine.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
I thought I had it all figured out, so uh,
And I tried to explain to him, I said, you
really don't need uh, you don't need us on Friday.
I mean, you know, we're willing to stay alone and
have some fun and all that. But I said, I've
got I got responsibilities. You know, high school football is
a big deal. That's week eight, come on now. So
(08:14):
but that's it. That's gonna be fun, all right, catch
me up. I know it's football season and all that,
but man, oh man, it is interesting in postseason baseball play,
is it not?
Speaker 2 (08:27):
Yeah, it is. And with the Cubs clinching home field
advantage today today over the Pirates, no offense. It was
against your Cardinals seven to three.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
Yeah. Still yeah no.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
It's a three game series at Wrigley starting on Tuesday
against the Padres, which is massive. I mean, you don't
have to fly across country if you're Chicago. You make
the Padres do that. You make San Diego come into town.
Speaker 7 (08:48):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
And that's gonna be really interesting to watch. But I
think the most interesting thing is what's gonna happen tomorrow
in the season finale, because there are still some spots
to fill in that last playoff spot in the National League,
as mentioned, with the Reds and the Mets having identical
records of eighty three and seventy eight. Reds take on
the Brewers tomorrow at three ten. Brady Singer pitches for
Cincinnati for Peralta goes for Milwaukee. But on the Mets side,
(09:12):
they'll also play at three ten. Former Indiana state pitcher
coach Sean and I is going to pitch for New York.
Edward Cabrera goes for the Marlins. So you're talking about,
you know, if the Reds win and the Mets lose,
Cincinnati's in. If the Mets win and the Reds lose,
New York's it, if they both win, you're getting down
to all the tiebreakers stuff, and you might get into
(09:33):
the range where this is pretty rare. Coach. It has
happened before, though, in the game one sixty three scenario
where the Mets and the Reds could a tiebreaker, which
would be amazing.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
Listen, one sixty three is happening. I just don't see.
I'm serious, as crazy as it's. Man, that's a plausible scenario,
without question.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
And it's the most fun scenario. It's best on best.
It's one absolutely, And that's what's so rare and base
right in baseball, you have these three and five and
seven game series, which are usually long drawn out wars.
Very rarely do you have these single game eliminations. It's
so rare in the game, and that's why it's so fun,
best on best, who can win one best of nine
(10:15):
in in game. I really hope we see.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
That he's Brendan King and he's coming up. That's you know,
he's the star of the show. I just I bring
you from Brendan King to Brendan King. This is Indiana
Sports Talk.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
An absolutely massive turn of events in college football just
now between updates, as the Oregon Ducks have beaten the
Penn State and Nitney Lyons number six over number three
in overtime thirty to twenty four. Both Oregon and Penn
State scored on their first possession of overtime, making it
(10:51):
twenty four to twenty four. Oregon got the ball back
in the second overtime period and immediately throw a touchdown pass.
Penn State receive the ball and through a game ending interception.
So this means that Oregon and Indiana are both going
to be undefeated when the time comes that the Hoosiers
(11:13):
will play the Ducks in Eugene on October eleventh. Indiana
and Oregon both have a bye next week and will
both be equally rested with five and zero records and
two and oho marks in the Big Ten heading into
that key game in Eugene two weeks from now. That's massive,
unbelievable finish there in Happy Valley, also going final number seventeen,
(11:37):
Alabama took care of number five Georgia in an upset
twenty four to twenty one. Bama rolls. Both Bama and
Georgia are three to one on the season. That means
the final college football game of the night that is
active is in the second quarter, nine minutes and thirty
one seconds to play in the half, Colorado leading number
twenty five byu fourteen to two three. That's a massive
(12:01):
day and a fun day of college football, without question.
Of course, big games come up tomorrow, the Colts and
the Rams at four to five from La the Fever
facing elimination in the WNBA semi finals down two games
to one against the Aces. Three pm start.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
Welcome back everybody on Bob Lovel This is Indiana Sports Talk.
Glad you could join us. Coming up later this hour,
Paul Condrey will join me as we do every Saturday night,
and take a look at last night's high school football games,
some of the upsets, some of the great performances. We
(12:38):
had two number ones go down to defeat. We're heading
into that time of year where we're close to playoffs.
So the Pairing Show is the twelfth of October. A
much more info on that next weekend when we talk
about it, so mark your calendars for that and go
to IHSAA find out any more information that you might
(13:03):
have from there. Some really really good games last night,
and we were glad to have thirty members of the
media and coaches called the show last night to talk
about games around the state. And it's a clearly Friday
night's different with high school Saturday with college. It's a
(13:23):
different situation. But it was fun last night that those
two and a half hours go by quickly when you
have that much activity, and it was busy, but it
was very, very fun. So make sure again you join
us next Friday, week number seven. Paul and I will
(13:45):
talk about that coming up in the next hour. Also,
I want to remind you all right, Brendan, we have
Fever tomorrow at three o'clock. Is that right?
Speaker 2 (13:54):
You got a coach and then Colts at four, Colts
at four oh five, yep. So you can enjoy the
one o'clock kicks in the NFL and kind of sit
back and relax and then the heart will start racing,
probably around three when the fever tip, and then the
heart will really be going at four oh five when
the Colts kick at four oh five?
Speaker 1 (14:12):
Ow standing, are you gonna be able to go to
the Cubs playoff matchup?
Speaker 2 (14:16):
Probably won't be able to make it, but you know,
we'll have the radio one. We'll listen to the great
Pat Hughes and it'll be great. So looking forward to it.
First time. This is hard to believe. I'll tell you what,
first Cubs playoff baseball since the middle of the pandemic
in twenty twenty. Hard to believe it.
Speaker 1 (14:31):
Is, I would if you'd asked me, I couldn't have
told you when the last time they had done it.
So that's that's been a while. Cod yikes, yep, okay,
all right, So anything else Alabama with the big one.
I've been following that on my phone. Yeah. I think
I think everyone had pronounced Alabama dead on arrival, had
(14:54):
they not three or four weeks ago, well, calling it
trying to fire coach, to boor and all that stuff
after they lost the game.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
I think most I think most people in tux Tuscaloosa
will diagnose Alabama as being dead in the water if
they go down a touchdown in their first drive of
the season.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
But definitely, and it's and it's not that way at
Notre Dame, right.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
Well, maybe it's after a half at Notre Dame.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
I like, I like it. That's good.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
But no, I think the big I think the big
one coach is Oregon outlasting Penn State there because again,
as mentioned in the update, because Indiana and Oregon both
have buys next week, the next time that those two
teams will be in action, they'll both be five and
zero two and oh in the Big Ten in Eugene
on October eleventh. Amazing.
Speaker 1 (15:42):
And the good thing is, and it's hard to do
from a scheduling standpoint, since I've done all that before
in a previous life, is to is to give both
teams who had buys now they play each other the
next time out. So that's that's good for both teams.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
Without a doubt. And I don't know if Indiana really
needs the rest, considering just how hot they've been. I don't.
I think you'd probably say the same thing about Oregon.
You know, there are well timed buys and there are
some buys who are like, man, we were just starting
to get cooking right. But you know you'll both take
the rest. You'll heal some bruises, and I'm sure Indiana
has plenty of them after playing Iowa, right, And probably
(16:19):
the same thing for Oregon going cross country to play
in a Happy Valley. That cannot be an easy flight
from Eugene to Pittsburgh and then Happy Valley, right, so
they'll have a chance to lick their wounds. The same
could be said for Indiana. But yeah, I mean, you
talk about two five and oh ball clubs coach two
and zero in the Big Ten coming up two weeks
from now, and you got two weeks of practice to
go into both and you've got two fiery head coaches
(16:41):
there in landing in signetti. That should be That should
be prime time terrific television.
Speaker 1 (16:47):
That may be one of the most highly anticipated regular
season games I used to played in a long long time.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
Well, as mentioned, Indiana's got a few of them, because
they're gonna play Oregon on the eleventh, and then on
November eighth, they're gonna go to Penn State. So you
talked about some massive, just high profile, important, prime time
made for television games. You know, Indiana, how many of
those have they had in one season? Have they had
(17:14):
one of those in one season for the last fifty years,
you got two of them in one year. That's amazing.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
I have to believe that the Big Ten office is
sitting there right now, going how do you like me now?
In terms of you were all tell us that we
were killing college football? Well, take a look around. I
think it managed to survive, and it's just been insane.
Speaker 2 (17:37):
Quite frankly, Well, college football is in a great spot.
And it's just because there's so much parody. I mean,
look at that Oregon beating Penn stay on the road
in double overtime. Get If you told somebody ten years
ago that was a Big ten game, they would say, well,
what planet have you come from? And what was there
that you were on?
Speaker 3 (17:54):
Right?
Speaker 2 (17:55):
How is that a big ten game? But it is
a Big ten game, and that's why people are enjoying
it so much. It's unbelievable. College football is in a
great spot.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
It really really is. And the cool thing is, you
know for IU fans, you know they're right in the
middle of it. This is something that they clearly haven't
experience for a long long time, if ever, to be
honest and you just love how they've transformed it in
such a short amount of time. And always remember the
(18:26):
value of hiring the right person is the is the
lesson here.
Speaker 2 (18:30):
Yeah, I mean, if there's one person to ask about this,
it's Don Fisher. I'd love to know Fish's thoughts on
just the complexion of this football team.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
Now.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
They did go to the College Football Playoff last year, right,
and they did start undefeated. Kurt Synetti started things undefeated
and went to the College Football Playoff and took Indiana there.
But this just has a little bit of a different feel,
just a little uptick more of especially if you can
go beat Oregon on the road, that would obviously be
their biggest win in program history in my mind. And
(19:05):
if they can, I mean, you're talking about an Indiana
football team that's not only going to go to the
College Football Playoff, You're talking about an Indiana football team
that can make some noise there in the CFP as well.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
Well. They were impressive today in a sense that you know,
give Iowa credit. Iowa did a great job of controlling
the football. You know, the time of possession was insanely
in favor of Iowa. Hoosiers didn't have the ball much
not able to get untracked offensively, but made plays when
they had to, which is we all know one of
the keys to being a good football team.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
No doubt. And did they make some mistakes today. Sure,
I was a team that's going to make you make mistakes.
That I think that's the bread and butter. That's how
they operate, that's how they go about winning games. That's
what they've always done in the Farens era. Because quite frankly,
I was not going to score a lot of points.
Their points are going to come because you made mistakes.
And for Indiana, they did make a few today. But
(19:58):
Mendoza was great, that's rat played on. That touchdown drive
was amazing, and you played just enough good defense to
buy yourself a win. But I'll tell you, coach, there's
a difference between Iowa and Oregon, and you got two
weeks to prepare for it because you're about to go
to Eugene where it's a absolute rockets environment. Not that
Iowa City is not, it is, but Oregon, listen, I've
(20:20):
been there before. It's a zoo and it's gonna be
a lot of fun that night for Don Fisher, John
Herrick and that radio crew to go call game there
and we'll see if what Indiana can do to make
some noise.
Speaker 1 (20:32):
Brendan King the man coming up with a scoreboard update.
He's got two more to go tonight, so he's been
doing the heavy lifting through most of tonight's show. I
appreciate that. Coming up, Paul Conder and I are going
to talk about high school football, wrapping up week number
six last night, clearly heading in to week seven, and
(20:56):
we'll talk about those matchups, talk about great matchup from
last night. And it's been a fantastic fall college wise,
high school wise, weather, it's just been superb. Games have
been have been tremendous. So there's a lot to be
(21:16):
excited about. The pairing show for the upcoming sectionals and
the tournament. That pairing show is the twelfth of October,
clearly right around the corner. We'll be here before we know. It.
Always one of the fun nights of the entire athletic year.
Every time we do any kind of pairing show, it's
(21:37):
pretty exciting. So that's all that's all coming up. Plus,
you know, Paul Condrey and I are going to continue
to talk about that set the stage for what we
know is going to be a tremendous finish to the
regular season in high school football. After the school board
update with Brendan King, we'll do that on Network Indiana's
(21:57):
Indiana Sports Stock.
Speaker 2 (22:07):
I'm Brendan King with this Network Indiana scoreboard update here
on Indiana Sports Talk. The next time the Indiana Hoosiers
play football will be after their buy next weekend. The
Hoosiers are five and oh, two and oh in the
Big Ten after their twenty to fifteen victory over Iowa
earlier today, but their next opponent, the Oregon Ducks, they'll
(22:27):
also be five and oh overall and two and oh
in the Big Ten when the Hoosiers and the Ducks
match up in Eugene on October eleventh. That's after this
play about twenty minutes ago.
Speaker 3 (22:38):
Now, Penn State gets it down by six here in
our second overtime from the.
Speaker 5 (22:43):
Twenty five al are loading up, throwing down the right sideline.
Speaker 1 (22:46):
The intercepted it's over, Dylan seen.
Speaker 5 (22:49):
Him in with the i int and the Oregon bench swarms.
Speaker 1 (22:53):
Onto the field. The Ducks have won in double overtime.
After blowing a fourteen point fourth quote.
Speaker 5 (23:00):
Lead, the Ducks get the win on the road at
Penn State thirty to twenty four.
Speaker 2 (23:05):
The call from ESPN Radio is Oregon number six in
the country outlast number three Penn State. That game went
to double overtime, both teams scoring in the first overtime period,
Oregon getting a quick touchdown to open the second overtime,
and then Penn State throwing the game ending interception to
finish the game. It'll be a five to oher record
(23:26):
on the line for both the Hoosiers and the Ducks
come October eleventh. From Eugene, Oregon. Fun stuff all the
way around again, we recap Notre dames fifty six to
thirteen win over Arkansas. Four touchdown passes for CJ. Carr,
four touchdown scores for Jeremiah Love, two through the air,
two on the ground, and also two touchdowns for Jarian Price,
(23:48):
one rushing, one receiving. I'm Brendan Gingh.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
Also welcome back every one on Bob Level. This is
Indiana Sports Talk. Last night, Week number six, yes, week
number six, high school football and it was another great
night weather wise and also another great night of football.
(24:15):
As we do on for excuse me on Saturday nights,
we are pleased thrilled to be joined by the Hall
of Famer. Two halls of fame, not just one, but two,
Indiana Football Hall of Fame and the Indiana Sports Writers
and Sportscasters Hall of Fame. Founder of the Regional Radio
Sports Network, Founder and publisher the Indiana Football Digest. Our
(24:39):
good friend, Paul Kundry. Paul, Week six, where has it gone?
For Hiven's sakes?
Speaker 3 (24:45):
It has gone the way of the Dodo. But we're
excited about being able to move on to week number seven.
It was a crazy night of high school football. We
had a top couple number one teams go down. Coach
in week number six won, a North Decatur lost. It's
a pretty good Linton team. Maybe the brunt game of
the whole night had to be the Gibson Southern Heritage
(25:07):
Hill game, going right down to the wire. A great
win for Gibson Southern knocking off Heritage Hills. And of course,
with that win by Gibson Southern, the Titans, the Mighty
Muddy Titans are able to end Heritage's Hills eighteen game
winning streak with the big thirty eight to thirty four victory.
But a couple teams are in the limelight really here tonight.
(25:28):
We're thinking about that North Davies and Riverton Park, both
those two programs at six and zero for the first
time in school's history. We had some unique dynamics in
regard to coaching things happened last night. The legendary Jeff
Adamson at Eastbrook achieved his three hundred and twenty fifth win.
Marrivale head coach Brad Seas notched his one hundredth career win.
(25:51):
And say what, there was some games out there that
were really kind of crazy. For instance, like the Western
upending West Lafayette thirty four to twenty. It may not
sound like a significant thing, but the Panthers were owen
nineteen against West SLOFAI at in previous opportunities. So there's
some We got about a dozen and a half or
(26:14):
so of the teams still unbeaten. They got a whole
bunch of teams that are still looking for that first victory.
Had some great performances, and obviously the one that we
have to talk about coach has to be the amazing
performance again and I say that we've talked about that
probably for six weeks again. By Knox High Schools Miles
oh Laflin. Yeah, he ran for I heard you on
(26:36):
with the legendary Russ Rack. Yes, you were signing off
the show last night. He had he had a four
hundred and eighty seven yards coach and seven touchdowns and
he is just he is having a sensational season. And
when you think about it, Bob, he's at nine and
ninety nine yards on his career. Of course, Charlie Spiegel,
(26:57):
who who is the top the leaderboard, as they say,
is at about ten thousand, eight hundred if my numbers
are correct, sometre in that vicinity. So putting it into perspective,
if Knox and I think based on where they're at
right now, they're a team that could at least get
to the sectional final. They've got pregus so they got
(27:18):
potentially six games left. If he continues on this tour
at Pace Knox High Schools, Miles McLoughlin could be the
all time leading rusher in the history of Indiana high
school football. And once once in a while, once in
a generation, you get the chance to be able to
see that in real time. And I know that you
and I had been blessed because we've had a chance
(27:40):
to see all these kids like Charlie Spiegel and Sammy Morale,
Isabelle Wood, Markel Jones and Columbus seas Otis Shannon, the
legendary running back from Indianapolis, Catheter Jack Kinzer who played
at Notre Dame at Pioneer, Nick Zachary who was at Sheridan,
and Brandon Robinson and Heritage. All these guys were running
(28:00):
the football, carrying the pigskin during our time working on
the Big Show. And so we've had a chance to
see all that. So when we're talking about Miles McLoughlin
and we're talking about some really rare air here, coach, And.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
When Russ called me last night, and you know, it
was a you know, I'm glad he called. He's got
a gazooon things going on, and we were up against
the clock, as you understand, and he's telling me about it.
And when he mentioned that he had four hundred and
eighty plus yards, I just I wish I'd had more time,
because that number didn't register at the time. But now,
(28:33):
upon further reflection, so to speak, it's a staggering number.
I mean, you're talking about literally five hundred yards a
night on the ground.
Speaker 3 (28:43):
Yeah, he's averaging in the high threes now in rushing
yards per game, and he's and give the kid a
lot of credit when you're carrying the football, you know,
thirty forty and sometimes fifty times in a football game,
right right, I mean, and everybody, I always go back
to the simplest thing I've ever learned about football was
(29:05):
watching the legendary Green Bay Packers of the sixties and
watching the legendary Vince Lombardi coach. They ran sixth plays.
Everybody knew what they were going to do and exactly,
but you still have to stop them. And and everybody
knows what Knox is going to do. They know Miles
mcloffin is going to run the football, and yet they
(29:25):
still can't stop him. And I think that's uh. You know,
the Packers were amazing during the sixties, was it seven
World championships or six or seven World championships in that
senior period in the same situation here with Knox High
School Miles mcloffin. So it's amazing that the teams have
not been able to slow him down. Obviously, you know,
if he's going to make a deep run in the postseason,
(29:47):
there's going to the competition is going to get a
whole lot tougher. I think we both would agree on that.
But for right now he is, he's in rare air
and it's just really neat. We did a we did
a story on him last two weeks ago on colts
dot com about him. Right he's having a sensational season.
Great young man. I think they're obviously they're the prohibited
(30:09):
favorite and Sectional twenty five and after that, you know, hey,
I'll tell you what, three A in the North. They're
going to have to play some great football to win.
But make no mistake about it, that's a great place
to start.
Speaker 1 (30:22):
Great place to start, all right. You mentioned that great
performance Knox High School. Who else last night had probably
not that staggering a number, but similarly had some success
on the grid iron.
Speaker 3 (30:40):
Yeah, Andrew Gravea had a great night for Chesterton in
the game ironically that I had a chance to do,
ended up going scoring three touchdown. Another workhorse three thirty
nine carries two hundred and two yards, Nathan Sparks of
Franklin Central had a great night. Personal high twenty seven
rushes two hundred and eighty five yards.
Speaker 5 (31:00):
He had three scores.
Speaker 3 (31:01):
Typean New Valleys West Parker had a great night, twenty
four carries two hundred and three yards. He also caught
three balls Daniel Adams and Bishop Shatard about one hundred
ninety seven yards. And let me close it out with
Greenwood's Gunner Ruppert twenty five times and one hundred and
ninety two yards. On the passing side of things, Deacon
(31:22):
Johnson of HC completed eighteen passes three hundred and twelve
yards and a couple scored. Northwoods Braylan Monroe had three
hundred and six yards three touchdown. Greenwick Christians Trey Dobson
two hundred ninety six yards three touchdowns. Cam Cors the
Cathedral went ballistic last night. He threw the ball thirty
nine times. He had twenty five completions, two hundred eighty
(31:43):
six yards and two scores. And one of the most
unique performances of the night had to be Landon Snyder
of a really talented michell Waka football team. He had
a great night. He's gonna he's truly putting him up
in a position as one of the great multi purpose quarterbacks.
Speaker 1 (32:04):
One hundred and.
Speaker 3 (32:04):
Eighty one in the yards passing on three touchdowns, and
he also carried the ball seventy eight yards and so
those were some of the top performances like to say
that we've seen. And I can give you a laundry
list of those, but you'll have to check those out
when Matt Copsy gets to totaling them up on our
weekly report, and you can check that out of reach
orio Sports Network website. Coming up on Monday and Tuesday.
Speaker 1 (32:29):
You mentioned a couple of number ones lost. We talked
obviously Nord Decatur. That was a little you know that
they've had such a great runs to Eastern is a
tremendous football coach, but he lost to a great Linton
team last night. We talked about that game on the
show thirty eight to twenty. Linton is for real, without question.
(32:52):
I mean they truly are.
Speaker 3 (32:53):
Yeah, no question about it. If you look at their
two losses both out of state, they lost a kevering
alter in Ohio. They Austin Corba, Kentucky. So they're unbeaten
in the Hoosier State. So and they're in a situation
in two A. They they're kind of closed out the
bottom of their schedule with a couple of one A schools.
Before they have a nice match, they have a really
(33:14):
nice final regular season game against a pretty good north
View team. Ironically, Northview was one of the teams in
Class four A that took it on the chin last night,
but that will be a great tune up for the Miners.
Brian has just done a tremendous job, and son Paul
was on the cover of our football book. This Pats season.
(33:34):
Just a great gig, just a great program and really
one of the neat high school sports communities in the
Hoosier State.
Speaker 1 (33:41):
Paul Condrey, hang on through this school board update. We'll
come back and look at week number seven in high
school football. This is Indiana Sports Talk.
Speaker 2 (33:50):
I'm running gang with this network. Indiana Scoreboard update here
on Indiana Sports Talk, last one of the weekend, so
we got a recamp what we saw today and tell
you what's coming up tomorrow on your NFL's Sunday Indiana
over Iowa twenty to fifteen. I use five and oh
two and oh in the Big Ten. But their next
opponent after next week's bye week the same Oregon improving
to five and oh two and oh in the Big
(34:11):
Ten after their double overtime victory tonight over Penn State

Irish back to a five hundred market two and two

field goal win on their homecoming thirty one to twenty

morning game tomorrow from Dublin, Ireland, nine thirty am set
The Alarms Vikings take on the Steelers. There in Ireland.
(34:54):
What o'clock window starts with the Commanders and the Falcons.
No Jayden Daniels or Terry McLaurin. The former the Indianapolis
Native Cathedral High School Terry mclauriney will not play for
the Commanders tomorrow. Also, it won the Saints and the
Bills in Buffalo. The Browns taken on the Lions, Panthers
and the Patriots. Chargers and the Giants in New York.
Jackson dart for New York in his first career start.
(35:15):
Eagles are in Florida taking on the Buccaneers Titans in
the Texans AFC South matchup. Jaguars will take on the
forty nine Ers at four h five, starting the late window.
No brock Purty for the Niners Tomorrow for twenty five,
Ravens and the Chiefs, Bears and the Raiders at four
twenty five Sunday Night Football, Cowboys and the Packers. Micah
Parsons's return to Dallas.
Speaker 1 (35:35):
Welcome back everyone, This is Indiana Sports Talk. We're talking
with Paul Condrey, the man who literally has forgotten more
than the rest of us know about high school and
college football. His knowledge is so vast he's literally written.
The book is called the Indiana Football Digest. Okay, Week seven,
as painful as that is to say, Week seven coming up,
(35:56):
and you're getting now into the meat of conference schedules
around the state.
Speaker 3 (36:00):
Yeah, some neat games coming up, some games that we're
going to kind of keep an eye on. Matt Copsy,
my Hall of Fame sports writer, does a tremendous job
just kind of taking a look at these. But the
one he's going to be focusing in on this week
and do some feature stories on will include Bedford North
Lawrence will be at Floyd Central two teams in the
Deep South both at five and one. Bloomington South is
(36:24):
on the road at Columbus North South at six and
zero North at four and two. I like this matchup
down in the South with the five and one Castle
on the road at Jasper to take on the five
and one Cats Franklin Central four and two at a
pretty tough Fishers team and both to those teams four
and two, and I always think this is one of
(36:46):
the neat games in the year. I'm so glad that
the series continues. Center Grove is going to be hosting
Indianapolis Cathedral. I think that's just a great barometer. It's
a great barmeber not only for Center Grove, but it's
also a great barometer for Billy Peebles's Indianapolis Cathedral team.
That'll be a really neat game. That'll be a race
Skillman Stadium, another nice matchup at Adamson Stadium, and the
(37:09):
aforementioned Jeff Adams. We talked about him in the last
part of the show. They're unbeaten at six and Oh.
They're going to be hosting Madison Grant, a game that
we're doing on Regional radio Sports. Ironically, Unbeaten Penn is
going to be a rice field to take on et
Elkhart had the steam taken out of their trousers, if
you will last night when they lost this unbeaten South
(37:30):
Bend saying Joe south Putt a one time loser. Is
going to be taking out once beaten North View at
Knight Stadium. And as always, there are two really neat
matchups to close out Art of featured games Warren Central
five and one at five and one Lawrence North and
I love this one. You're ready for a little bart
ball this to all. This game will take about This
(37:51):
game will take about sixty seven minutes. Warsaw four and
two at Mishawaka five and one. You have the teacher
and the pupil going at it right Shlwaukee. If they
can hold serve and went out, they'll win the Northern
Lakes Conference, which is really one of the neat conferences
in the state, certainly one of the most dominant conferences.
(38:11):
That'll be a great game at Steel Stadium.
Speaker 1 (38:13):
So those are some of the games we're going to
keep an eye on outstanding. You know what, before long
we'll be at the Lucas Oil Stadium. Long before long,
we'll be doing the gritties, so it goes, it just
keeps rolling. Can't do this without you, Paul. You make
my weekends, make them special. Thank you so much. Paul
(38:36):
Condrey once again does what he does better than anybody else. Paul,
have a great week. We'll talk to you next weekend.
Speaker 3 (38:44):
God blets you coach. Thanks for the time.
Speaker 1 (38:46):
Thanks a lot, Paul. Paul Condrey as always, tremendous job
college football. What a great game tonight, I you beating
Iowa twenty to fifteen. From the IU Sports Network, John
Herrick John on a hard fought, well deserved win today.
Speaker 5 (39:03):
Yeah, coach, I think Coach kurtz Signette he said it
best when he spoke to Don Fisher in the postgame
radio segment that we do and he just said, you know,
this game had everything. We were good, we were bad,
we were ugly, but above all, we were gritty even
though it wasn't pretty, and they found a way to
get it done, which is what you just you have
to do. It is so hard to win at Iowa.
(39:25):
It's so difficult. I mean, there's lots of top twenty
five teams that have gone there and lost. I believe
this was the first time that Iowa had lost to
a ranked team at Iowa since twenty twenty two in
October of that year just gives you an idea of
how tough it is to be a top twenty five
team and go in there and win. Kirk Farns always
(39:45):
does a heck of a job. But Indiana answered the
call today.
Speaker 1 (39:50):
They did. They absolutely did. I know, all right, we've
got a short break. I hope you can hang on
through that and then we'll say more about this big win.
Great John Herrick and I will come back after this
short break, our final break and some final thoughts. So
(40:10):
stay with us. This is Indiana Sports Unk. Welcome back everyone,
John Herrick rejoins me. IU wins at Iowa twenty to fifteen. John,
You know, great way to win, because you know, normally
they've been able to, you know, dominate people early, but
this one they had to grind it and make some
plays at the end, showing quite a bit of character
(40:31):
as a football team.
Speaker 5 (40:32):
Yeah, it was, Bob, And you know, one of the
things that's really hard to do is stop Iowa from
running the football really well. Iowa did win the time
of possession battle today, which is something they do quite often.
But Indiana held Iowa's rushing attack to ninety two yards
on thirty one total carries, So that's less than three
yards to carry. That's pretty dog one good. They also
(40:55):
rushed for one hundred and four yards collectively on their
side of the against an Iowa team that was only
giving up about sixty yards rushing. So Indiana, even though
they struggled at times, they did get it. They did
have an interception with Fernando Mendoza, he was sacked twice.
They also had two pumbles that they almost lost but
didn't right, So Iowa made life difficult for him. But
(41:17):
they overcame all of that and found a way to win,
which is going to be really important when you still
got to play Oregon on your schedule, Penn State on
your schedule, you're gonna have to Michigan State's not going
to be easy. There are some teams on your schedule
that are still really good that you're going to have
to play well against and overcomes the adversity to get
it done.
Speaker 1 (41:37):
I you beating Iowa twenty to fifteen. John Herrick, thanks
so much for the call. I greatly appreciate it. Be
safe on the drive all right.
Speaker 5 (41:46):
Thank you coach.
Speaker 1 (41:48):
Thank you. Bret Deetz joins me from DePaul University. The
Tigers beat Wittenberg twenty eight nothing, coach, great job today
for you and your guys. Thank you. Big win, a
big win.
Speaker 7 (42:01):
Anytime you go to Springfield and come away with you win,
that's a big deal. They're a story program over there.
So nothing but respect for those guys.
Speaker 1 (42:09):
Wit might be one of the most successful programs at
the Division III level. So it's an incredible win for you.
Speaker 7 (42:15):
Yeah, last two times have been over there, we go
over there on odd years. You know, we've had to
come back in the fourth quarter to get wins. And
our defense played excellent. I really challenge those guys this
week in practice. A lot of new characters on that
side of the ball, and they got the shutout. And
it's the first time anybody shut out Wittenberg in eighteen years.
Speaker 5 (42:36):
So our guys played.
Speaker 1 (42:38):
Their dark tails off. So it's awful they really did.
I was going to ask you how you did it,
but it seems like defensively, you know, you shut people out,
it gives your offense and a great opportunity to do it.
What a great, great effort by your defensive coordinator. And everybody.
That's incredible.
Speaker 7 (42:58):
Yeah, they held them in the two of twelve on
third down, and once again they finished with negative twenty
four rushing yards. So that's like the third time this
year out of our four games, a team finished with
it with negative rushing yards.
Speaker 5 (43:09):
So it's been our calling.
Speaker 7 (43:13):
Card the past few years, and it's certainly nice for
a head coach to know that on the other side
of the ball they're going to shut them down more
times than not.
Speaker 1 (43:22):
Bret, I wish I had more time we were up
against the clock, but I'm happy for you. I'm thrilled
for you and the Tigers appreciate the call more than
you can know. DePaul Beats Wittenberg twenty eight nothing. Brett Dietz,
thanks for the call and good luck next week.
Speaker 7 (43:39):
Thanks appreciate it. Thanks for having me on.
Speaker 1 (43:40):
You're welcome. Thank you, My thanks to Brendan King, Caleb Zuver.
Thanks to our great stations around the state to bring
you the show every Friday and Saturday night. Thanks to
all of you for thirty one years, you've made us
the most listen to sports talk show in the state's history.
It is the history, making a legendary network Indiana's Indiana
Sports Talk
