For Network Indiana Sports, I'm Brad Huber.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
Welcome back everyone. I'm Bob Lovell. This is Indiana Sports Talk.
Pacers won twenty one oh five winners over the Bulls
tonight with me the man himself from Fieldhouse Files. Scott
Agnes coach, Thanks so much, coach. I've been talking to
so many coaches tonight, Scott, you are now a new coach, Scotty.
(05:01):
That's an important win. What a big win. This is
a Bulls team. It's been playing pretty well lately.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
Yeah, it's it's a Bulls team that got off to
a good start.
Speaker 4 (05:10):
But how about this. The Pacers have beat him twice
in the last week. It was that Siakam mid range
jumper to beat the buzzer essentially last Saturday at the
field House and then tonight was so important because this
is the last team in the league and without a
road win, and so after an zero to ten start,
in that front. The Pacers were able to finally put
(05:31):
that behind them and get the win and Monster Nights
with Sam having a season high and Matherin was incredibly
tough too.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
Yeah, those guys got You basically need them to play
at ten level every night. I know it's not impossible.
But when those guys are playing it like that, at
that pace and playing that well, that's a pretty good
basketball team.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 4 (05:54):
I mean, Ziakam barely played in the first quarter because
of foul trouble, so he finished with thirty six and
ten base league over three quarters. And then the other
player I got a highlight is Ethan Thompson, I mean
coach earlier this week, Pacer signed him. He made his
NBA debut on Monday. He's not a rookie. This is
his first opportunity. Then tonight he might have earned the
(06:15):
starting roles temporarily. He played thirty four minutes and scored
eleven points and was significant just playing hard out there
for a guy he didn't know anybody on this roster
a week ago.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
You know, dream dream come true. You take advantage of it.
That's the key. It gets tight down the end, is
that right? I mean they win by two possessions. Is
it tough at the end you have to make some plays.
Speaker 4 (06:40):
No, this is when they kind of pulled away in
that second half. In particular, I ended up winning by fifteen.
And it was a game that we haven't the way
in which it played, with the shot not shooting. It
was something we have not seen from this Pacers team
very often. They made eighteen threes and that was after
a one and nine start. They made their next four,
so they were making shots. And then I would also
(07:01):
mention too, Josh Gatty.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
Has been the best player for the Bulls much of
the season than their top score.
Speaker 4 (07:06):
Of the last five games, he was without a point
until midway through the second quarter, only finished with nine.
So while I highlighted all those stats and the points
the coach, what stood out to me was just number one,
the thing you can control every game in your fight.
I mean, there are several times Isaiah Jackson picking pockets
and leading to steeles. Andrew Nemhard was critical early on
(07:26):
with Siakam sitting the bench, and then they were able
to limit what the Bulls were able to do offensively all.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
Right, Sunday against Sacramento at home.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
Is that Ryan no, it gets better for them.
Speaker 4 (07:38):
They got Saturday and Sunday off, so Monday against the game,
mon Dad, Okay, got it? A rare basically kind of
weekend off essentially.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
Man, why don't you just go watch the Big Ten
Championship tomorrow night.
Speaker 4 (07:54):
I think I'll do it one better, coach. I'll head
to the Fieldhouse first, my second home for I you Louisville.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
Oh yeah, yeah, my next life. I want to be you.
I just want you to know. Yeah, no, no, no, no,
Scott Agnes Pacers win one twenty one oh five. Make
sure you go to Fieldhouse files, get smarter, figure out
more about the Pacers. This is a a must do. Scott,
(08:23):
thanks so much of the call. Enjoy the rest of
the weekend. Thank you very much, you too, Thanks so much.
You're welcome. Thank you. Tanner Camp the Tanner Camp from
the Regional radio Sports Network. He has the call tonight.
If Chesterton seventy three point fifty five win over South
Bend Saint Joe Tanner, thanks so much of the call.
(08:44):
Did you survive the football season? Ready to go now
for basketball?
Speaker 5 (08:49):
Well, coach, you know when I'm under the great direction
of the legendary Paul Condre. I got to beat on
my eight game and ready to Ryland. So I survived
as best as I could with it. I had a
great time with it. It's really really good state championship games.
And now we get to you and I's favorite time
during the season, and that is now high school boys
basketball officially in full swing.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
Now yeah, absolutely, I mean it is in Uh we
are in full swing, no question about it. So, uh
tonight you get as we mentioned, you get it. You know,
a great game to call tonight, did you not? And
this is good matchup Chesterton Southend Saint Joe. Impressive finished
(09:31):
though for Chesterton with a you know, basically eighteen point
win tonight.
Speaker 5 (09:38):
Yeah, and coach, and this is a really really big
win obviously Southend Saint Joe coming off of that state
championship a year ago, when really the question is going
to be, you know, what can they do without arguably
one of the best scores ever in Saint Joe County
and Chase Knesni and you know, Saint Joe had some
good moments, coach, but they just it was really hard
to find some scores. I mean, they got some good
contributions and a lot of really good talent. Though they
(09:58):
have guys like Elijah who led the way for the
sixty two Junior guard I mean he had seventeen points.
And Nick Shrewsbury, of course he's going off to play
for his data Notre Dame, and he struggled. He only
had three points. But there's still a lot of really
really good pieces. And really one of the other unique
stories for the Huskies is Gus Patulius. He had fourteen
points in.
Speaker 1 (10:16):
Eight Yeah, Tanner, hang on to that. Hang on to
that thought. Let me take a break here. If the
scorebarre update and you we'll come back and finish it. Okay,
sounds like a great plan, my friend, perfect, Thanks so much.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
More, Girls basketball or is going on across the state
of Indiana today Sheridan being Clinton Prairie forty seven to thirty.
South Bend Saint Joseph Mischwalk and Marion seventy two to
thirty five. South Mount winners today over North Montgomery fifty
five to thirty two. Southport winners squeaked by Bloomington North
forty four to forty one, Southwestern Chebyville all over Cambridge
(10:53):
City Lincoln forty to to fifteen. Ditto for Trenton Central
over Waldron seventy eight to fifteen and Alpo over Laport
sixty five to fourteen. Washington Township winners over Boone Grove
sixty five to forty. West Vigo winners over failing Academy
fifty one to forty four. Western Boone got the win
(11:13):
over Greencastle forty eight to thirty eight. Westville winners over
Tried Township forty nine to thirty five, and Wheeler over
a River Forests doubled them up fifty two to twenty six.
Boys basketball Adams Central winners over Southern Welles sixty two
to forty four, Batesville over Greensburg sixty eight to forty,
Bloomington North over Center Grove fifty nine to fifty three,
(11:34):
Bloomington South All over Bedford North Lawrence seventy nine to forty.
Candleton defeated Washington Catholic fifty to thirty two, Cordon Central
over North Harrison fifty eight to forty six. Fairfield beat
Prairie Heights fifty one to twenty nine. Jay County winners
over Woodland fifty two to twenty eight. Jennings County put
up eighty against Madison eighty to fifty six Cocomo winners
(11:58):
over Peru seventy two to thirty four, Mariann defeating Western
eighty two to fifty four, Mount Vernon, Fortfield defending Delta
sixty one to thirty six, Newpoud defeitting Eastern Hancocks seventy
nine to sixty seven. At Northview when there's over Sullivan
seventy one to forty four. For Network Indiana Sports, I'm
Brad Huber.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
Welcome back everyone. Thank you so much for being with us.
We appreciate it more than you know. It's a busy night.
We go back to Tanner Camp. Tanner Camp a very
impressive young guy, great broadcaster for the regional radio sports network.
(12:42):
He has to call on Chesterton seventy three to fifty
five win over South Bend Saint Joseph. All Right, I
cut you off. I didn't mean to, but you know
the restraints of time, So let's have you start again.
This is a really good matchup. These are two I think,
two pretty good teams that going to be pretty good
teams throughout the year. Yeah, coach, and.
Speaker 5 (13:03):
You're absolutely right, and that's exactly and two great coaches.
Mark Iurbin, who's done a tremendous job here Chesterton and
Eric Gaff who's done a great job at Saint Joe win.
And again, if you're Saint Joe, there's still a lot alike. Again,
they still got some good contributions from their six to
two junior guard and Elijah Keene. He finished with the
team's leading scorer with seventeen points. And this is one
a little bit of local flavor here coaches Gus Peculis
(13:24):
off the bench of six y four junior guard slash forward.
His brother Al actually plays for Steve Draven at Bethel University.
So the Peas name is very well represented here in
the in the South Bend Mishawaka area. But but Chesterton
coach tell you what, this is a team. They've got
a lot of really really good pieces and a couple
of names that I think people need to keep an
eye on in the state. And one right away is TJ.
(13:44):
Ray the six foot junior guard. How about five triples
on the night to lead the team with twenty points.
You got Logan Pokorny, the six ford junior or senior
excuse me, guard slash board. He finished with eighteen points.
But really the name that impressed me the most. Only
a sophomore is Bradley Basilla, the six seven sophomore Ford.
He finished with seventeen points and just his energy on
(14:07):
the glass, which listen, I'm a former big myself, so
when you have a good night on the glass, you're
gonna impress me quite a bit. And this was a
Chester team, a Chesterton team. Coach that you know, when
you shoot eleven of fifteen from the three, that's gonna
usually give you a good chance to win some game.
So just an overall impressive effort for Mark Urbin, who's
done such a great job, gets win number nine seventy
six for the trophansn for Eric Gaff coach doesn't get
(14:30):
any easier because tomorrow they got to travel down to Brownsburg.
All they have to do is to be ready to
take on Cathedral. So but this is what Eric Gaff does.
They play for the teams and this is what gets
you ready for the postseason, which is hard to even
start thinking about that now, but this is what happens.
You play tough teams and it gets you better. So
a tough loss for the Huskies of South Bend Saint Joe,
but props to Chesterton. They're going to be a really
(14:51):
good team to keep an eye on in the state.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
Tanner Camp from the Regional Radio Sports Network Chesterton seventy
three fifty five over South Bend Saint Joe Tanner, thanks
so much to the call, have a great night, love.
Speaker 5 (15:05):
That basketballs and full swing coach. Can't wait to talk
to you, Martin.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
I've always thanks so much, Thank you very much. Thanks
for the con words. Let's go from the region down
to the river. Brian Sullivan from w NAS on the
call of New Albany's ninety four point fifty one went
over evans O Harrison. Kind of a corny cliche to use,
but he has a transition. But you know, it's eleven thirty.
(15:29):
What am I going to do? Well?
Speaker 6 (15:34):
It was an entertaining evening for all the New Albany
fans home opener. It's nice and they're they're coming up
and playing at Brownsburg in the morning, so I think
they just wanted to get out of there as quickly
as they can, and fortunately it got into a rye
got into a running clock situation early, so they were able.
Speaker 1 (15:53):
To do that. This is a pretty good team, though,
isn't I mean, aren't there expect big time expectations for
this group.
Speaker 6 (16:01):
I tell you what, I've been sitting here. I'm driving
up to Indianapolis right now, and I've.
Speaker 1 (16:05):
Been talking with my daughter who was doing.
Speaker 7 (16:08):
Play by play tonight.
Speaker 6 (16:09):
I just keep coming up with past New Alboy teams
and saying, this team is quicker and potentially better defensively
than that one, and then I back up to another one.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
Right now.
Speaker 6 (16:20):
It's one of the most athletic teams, and they are
about eight or nine deep, and they are really really
disruptive defensively, right and they converted into offense really really well.
It's it's an explosive group.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
Yeah, and you know what, that's a hard You don't
want to play a team like that. Your place, their
place neutral, just you know what, you don't want to
play them. They're they're that good. I mean, they're really
really good and going to get wetter, clearly, and it
could have been worse. Tonight.
Speaker 6 (16:55):
They were up fifty six to twenty maybe at the half,
and came out and jumped it up from thirty four
to forty eight in the first two minutes, right and
at the first time outs they subbed and the starters
never played the rest of the game. But by that point,
you're two minutes into the second half and you already
(17:15):
have seventy points.
Speaker 1 (17:15):
I mean, it was kind of scary for a while.
Speaker 6 (17:18):
But they're coming up and playing Plainfield and it's a really,
really good Plainfield team with a couple of D one guards.
And I told coach Jones, well, you've got a couple
of D one guards and said, yep, there's our seniors, minor,
a freshman and a sophomore. So there is something to
be said for that experience up there.
Speaker 1 (17:36):
Well, you know, obviously, my heart is always with my Quakers,
and we played back in the day, we played in
the Brownsburg Sectional, and so I know a little bit.
I mean, clearly that building's long gone. But it'll be fun,
all right. So tell me who these kids are and
(17:57):
who played well tonight for New Albany.
Speaker 6 (18:00):
Well, Noel Washington. We talked about him a lot last
year and The Star picked him as the number one
sophomore in the state. He had in limited minutes, he
had eighteen points tonight. And then we've got a freshman
that might be as impactful at the point guard spots
as what Washington is on the wing had fifteen points.
(18:21):
And ten rebounds at Bloomington South the other night, and
then came back and had thirteen points and five assists,
only playing half the game. But his name's Carson Studemier,
and they are a great one two punch.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
Well.
Speaker 6 (18:34):
We were always really curious about the guys that were
going to fit around them. But they've got some size,
they've got some length, and everybody so far is really
buying in defensively, and that makes it a whole lot,
a whole lot more enjoyable for the coaches.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
Outstanding. Brian Sullivan, w nas the road warrior. Man, oh man,
you're putting some miles on yourself now. You need to
be careful Edits to from New Albany to Brownsburg tonight,
New Albany, very impressive. Went over Evans o' harrison ninety
four to fifty one. Brian, thank you so much. Be safe.
(19:14):
We'll talk to you tomorrow night. All righty, coach, thanks
so much. Logotie fifty eight fifty six win over Wood
Memorial tonight with me to Logodi's head coach, Josh Thompson. Josh,
thanks so much for the call. Congratulations on this great win.
Speaker 8 (19:32):
Hey, thanks a lot for having us on coach. We
grinded one out tonight. We did not play well early.
We got down nine to nothing here in the first quarter.
We trailed twenty five to eighteen at halftime, and then
in the third quarter, Will Lyon, a junior wing for US,
(19:54):
really kind of took the game over, really hurt him
with dribble penetration getting to the basket. It. Will ended
up with twelve points in that third quarter. He ended
up leading US tonight with nineteen. Our senior Pall State
player A. J. Foster was really good for US tonight.
He had eighteen. And then defensively, we had a kid
(20:18):
that's a junior for US that only ended up with
four points on the night, shot oh of two from
the free throw line, but made about seven or eight
game winning plays on the defensive event. And Teth Solmon,
Teth Salmon just dominated defensively for US tonight. So it
was a really good team effort, but a very good win.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
How's the transition, you know, how's the start? How do
you like it?
Speaker 8 (20:42):
It's going well? Our kids are playing hard and you know,
we're I like who we can become. We got a
long way to get there, but our guys are buying
into what we're trying to do, and we're being tough
and gritty on the defensive end, which I really like that.
Speaker 1 (20:58):
All right, who you playing next time out?
Speaker 8 (21:00):
So next week we got an easy one. We go
we go to Forest Park, So we got a need
to one on the road.
Speaker 1 (21:07):
Yeah, yeah, no, no, we we go to Forest Park.
Speaker 8 (21:11):
And I appreciate the job that coach Mesmer does down there.
I think he's doing a fabulous job continuing on with
the tradition that they've got down there. Partenheim kid is
really really good. You know, I coached him at the
top one hundred this summer, and you know, I'm at
that point in time I was really really not looking
forward to next Friday night having to figure out how
(21:33):
to stop in. But we're gonna go down there, and
if our guys can the way we did tonight, we'll
give ourselves a chance.
Speaker 1 (21:41):
Look, Gody big Win tonight fifty eight, fifty six over
Wood Memorial. Josh Thompson, great to talk to you. Good
luck tomorrow, are good luck next week?
Speaker 8 (21:50):
Okay, Coach, thanks a lot, appreciate.
Speaker 1 (21:52):
You, thank you, thanks so much. Coming up more basketball
on Indiana Sports Talk.
Speaker 3 (21:58):
The Indiana Pacers was getting a big win one twenty
to one oh five over the Chicago Bulls. Pascal Siakam
and Benedict Matherin combined for sixty four points in that win.
Today Pacers now five and eighteen on the year. Cleveland
Charge got the best of the Noblesville Boom in the
NBA G League, one fourteen to one oh two. Stephen
Ashworth and Kyle Guy from Lawrence Central had above twenty
(22:21):
points in that ball game. The Indie Field got the
win over the Cincinnati cyclone seven to two this evening
up in Fishers. Another Dame the Fighting Irish in college
basketball tonight. Jalen Harrelson a bucket with three seconds to
go the Force overtime, and then Notre Dame got the
win eighty seven to eighty five. Cole Serta and Jalen
Harrison had combined forty points. Walch College got the best
(22:43):
of IDU Columbus today eighty three seventy three. Volleyball in
the NCAA Tournaments, the Indiana Hoosiers wept Colorado three to nothing.
They'll head to the Sweet sixteen next weekend for the
first time since two thousand and ten. The Perdu Boilermakers
beat Baylor three to one. They'll play in their fifth
Sweet sixteen in the last six years. You Indeed, the
(23:04):
Greyhounds got the best of Fendlay today three to one.
They'll play in Farris State in the Sweet sixteen tomorrow
for the right to go to the Elite eight next weekend.
Two big college football games tomorrow, of course, one we're
all talking about the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Indiana
Hoosiers one versus two for the Big Ten Championship. That
will be at Lucas Oil Stadium eight o'clock tomorrow night
(23:25):
on Fox. But we also want to give a shout
out to the Paul Tigers in the third round of
the NCAA Division Three Football Playoffs. They will host Wheaton,
Illinois tomorrow as well. So best of time, luck to
Indiana and DePaul in big college football games tomorrow. For
Network Indiana Sports. I'm Brad Huber.
Speaker 1 (23:48):
Welcome back everybody. High school basketball tonight, North White beats
Attica thirty seven thirty two. Gary Darting, the head coach
at Attica, joins me. Coach, thanks so much to the calls.
A tough night for you and your guys.
Speaker 2 (24:02):
Yeah, tough start. Kind of is their second game, our
first game, and you know, first year there and you know,
trying to do some cultural stuff and just took a
tough one on the sand to night.
Speaker 1 (24:19):
I know, I was looking at your schedule knowing that
it's your first game. I remember my first game for
a long time ago, nineteen seventy six. I was the
head coach at Franklin College at the tender age of
twenty six, playing Wabash. We're up twenty to half, and
I break the locker room door because I think we
should be up by thirty.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
I had a lot to learn, and I understand that
we we you know, and the again, nothing against who
we played by any stretch, right, but we had a kid,
one of our top players and starter obviously three years
of o starter, and oh my yeah, he got.
Speaker 7 (25:02):
Sick on the way up there and we had to
send him back home. And now that's no, that's not
why we lost.
Speaker 2 (25:08):
Sure, right, we shoot four for thirty one from the three,
and and you know that man and hunder and fifty
from the free throw line, and so by the score
as well, you can tell neither team shot the ball.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
Well, yeah, it sounded like you but but you know what, coach,
you know, it's said it's at first game for for them,
first game for you as you talk about new system,
new style, new culture you're trying to do. Uh, I
know you don't want to hear the patients word, but
(25:41):
there is there's some of that for all of you,
and uh plenty I'm sure of teachable moments. Tonight. When's
your next ball game?
Speaker 7 (25:49):
So we we bounce back and come back tomorrow night.
We play Danville Slarman on Illinois team tomorrow night, right, right,
so we play them Toro and then we're off actually
for a week until next Saturday, which will be our
first home game. So but we're constantly right now, we
know we're behind each of these teams. You know, we
(26:10):
play Schlarm tomorrow, it'll be our second and it'll be there,
I think fourth. You know, when we get to Clinton
Central next week, you know they'll have five and we'll
be on three and we'll be we'll be like that
till the first of the year, and uh then January
and February get really really busy, So we'll try and
use a lot of time between now and the first
(26:31):
of the year, right, spending on the practice floor, and uh,
you know, just keep instilling what we need them to do.
Speaker 2 (26:39):
They're good kids, and you know, we just we just
got to get them to believe in themselves and and uh,
stick to the basics first, and uh.
Speaker 5 (26:49):
We'll be all right.
Speaker 1 (26:51):
ANAKA tonight losing toon North White thirty seven thirty two.
Gary Darting, thanks so much for the call, coach, and
I wish you and your kids nothing but the best.
Speaker 7 (27:00):
Well, certainly thanks for having us, and I greatly appreciate that.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
You do this.
Speaker 1 (27:04):
You're welcome. I appreciate it. Thank you very much. All Right,
Brad Huber, catch me up on what is going on?
We got IU Louisville. What time dos that game start tomorrow?
Speaker 3 (27:15):
That will be a two fifteen tip off at Gamebridge
Field House to start out the day with Indiana here
in Central Indiana, So that should be a good one.
Indiana looking the rebound off a very tough run Boss
at Minnesota earlier in the week to start Big ten play.
Really the first true road game for all of those
team members, players and coaches the other night. So it'll
(27:35):
be a tough game, but should be a great crowd
on hand tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (27:39):
Yeah, my question, and you can help me answer this.
My question is where is Don Fisher parking his car tomorrow?
Is he gonna is he gonna is he gonna park
at Gamebridge or is he gonna park at Lucas Oil.
I'm hoping he's parking at Lucas Oil and has somebody drive,
(28:00):
you know, getting back and forth, because he's You've done this,
I've done it. It's you know, more than one game
in a day, and we're and we're we're also talking pregame, halftime,
post game. You know, it's not just a game. You
have the add ons and uh, I hope he's got enough.
(28:23):
You know, he's a Hall of Famer for a reason.
So I mean my money's on him, quite frankly, but
what a day. This may be one of the the
all time great days of sports in the state and
in the city's history. Quite frankly, Yeah, no question.
Speaker 3 (28:37):
I know they'll go on the air about one fifteen
for basketball, that will probably go till five o'clock, probably
by the time to get off the air, and then
pre game show for football at seven. So I'm sure
what the status that he has. I'm sure he's got
a ride from Gamebridge fall, probably a police escort, but
at least a ride spoil for the football game. And
(29:01):
you know, he said he's gonna be on the air
at ten to twelve hours tomorrow and uh, you know,
hopefully his voice will be good to go. I know, Uh,
first time he's ever had a chance of calling Indiana
in a Big Ten football championship, So that will kind
of be the headliner. But a very good basketball game
to start things tomorrow as well. It's gonna be a
fun day. If you're a part of Who's your nation?
Speaker 1 (29:21):
For sure, you know it is gonna be a fun day.
Speaker 8 (29:24):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
And there are other things going on, you know. I
think the Iowa State prematchup, Yeah, uh is one that
is interesting. And for me, I am headed to IU Indy,
Uh Youngstown State coming in Greg Greigshaw and I will
have that game on ESPN Plus tomorrow at two o'clock,
(29:46):
so thank goodness. Uh, I'll be on the west side
of town and miss I'll miss downtown. But it's uh,
it's gonna it's gonna get interesting. I don't think there's
any question. And uh, I you, Indy needs a win.
They're playing hard, brand new coach, new system put up
a lot of threes full court press. You had a
(30:06):
lot of threes still trying to you know, ease into that,
and that's not an easy thing to learn, an easy
thing to execute early on. And so Youngstown's good big
conference matchup. So a lot going on, Boise stated, Butler
would be a great game. Uh, the Dogs are playing
(30:26):
great right now. Tremendous start to it. So we got
a lot going on in in Indie tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (30:32):
Yeah, a lot of big basketball Perdue Fort Wayne at
home against Northern Kentucky and a big matchup up I
sixty nine and Fort Wayne.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
You have Balcol at home.
Speaker 3 (30:42):
So yeah, a lot going on around central Indiana. We
college basketball. University of Indianapolis is at home to Paul
Hanover Wabash, Earlham Rose Holman. Uh, they're all at home
tomorrow as well. So ask me a fun basketball.
Speaker 1 (30:58):
You brought it up, and it's great that you did.
Wheaton comes to DePaul in the Division three tournament. How
about Brett Deetz's guys have one two to get to
this point. It is a fabulous story. I mean they
took the momentum obviously from the Monon Bell win and
are continuing.
Speaker 4 (31:18):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (31:18):
If I hope you won't get the crowd that you
get for a Bell game, but it should be a
tremendous day tomorrow over at DePaul over in Greencastle, because
it's just a you'll get these opportunities very often, and
they've done a fantastic job and we're so so hopeful
(31:39):
that they can continue to advance.
Speaker 3 (31:41):
Yeah, no doubt. Good to see these small school football
programs doing well, like you mentioned with the DePaul Tigers.
So a good college football doubleheader in Central Indiana and
green Castle earlier in the afternoon, and then of course
that game we've talked about Saturday night. So go over
to green Castle and support the Tigers and see if
they can dance on towards a Division III championship for
(32:05):
the Tigers.
Speaker 1 (32:07):
I think it's great, It's absolutely great. And how soon
before you pull out the voice there's the voice of
the Paragon Speedway.
Speaker 3 (32:16):
How soon at least till mid March. We don't have
the schedule for that yet, but normally we have that
No way out forty a big sprint car race at
Parrogan Speedway, the first in Indiana sometime around mid March,
selection weekend in there. So just waiting on the schedule,
so we're well into the offseason at this point. Had
(32:38):
the banquet in February, but yeah, my focus. I'll be
covering the Marion County Girls basketball Tournament next week for
Indiana High school sports dot Com. We have a game
we go on Tuesday, quarterfinal Thursday, and then we'll have
the semifinals on Saturday morning, and then the championship Saturday night.
So I'm ready for about six basketball games and five
(33:00):
days next week.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
Good for you. We know where you're gonna be though.
We know who you're calling next weekend, don't we. We
know exactly who you're calling next weekend.
Speaker 3 (33:11):
Yeah, I'll call you once we're done with the What
Hope Girls championship game of the Marion County Tournament. That's
always a fun tournament. See a lot of top schools
from Indianapolis and really gives those schools a sectional like
feel for when they're really playing January or February.
Speaker 1 (33:28):
All right, this is Brad's final school board update. You
don't want to miss it. Brad. Thanks, have a great night,
Thank you so much.
Speaker 3 (33:35):

De Paul Football will host Wheaton, Illinois in the Division
three Football Playoffs third round tomorrow in Greencastle and the
(35:06):
Big One at Lucas Oil Stadium eight o'clock tomorrow night
Number one Ohio, State number two Indiana eight o'clock on
Fox with a Big Ten championship and at Rose Bull
bid into college football playoff for Network Indiana Sports. I'm
brat Huber.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
Welcome back everyone. Hey Brad Huber, I hope you're still
with me. I'm your coach, so tell me give me
your thoughts about the Big Ten Championship Tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (35:32):
I think it's going to be one the heck of
a football game. You know. Ohio State obviously probably the favorite,
although I saw those odds have come down through the week,
so Indiana's closed the gap there. It's gonna be a dogfight.
Speaker 1 (35:46):
You know.
Speaker 3 (35:46):
Indiana has not beaten Ohio State since I think I
saw nineteen eighty eight, and that's thirty games against each
other that Ohio State has beaten Indiana. So if your
coach Kurtzignetti and Fernando Mendoza, you know, I guess to
be the best, you gotta beat the best. And this
could also determine the Heisman Trophy race as well between
(36:07):
oh yeah, Mendoza and the quarterback for Ohio State as well.
So a lot on the line for Indiana and Indiana.
It's been six decades, oh most since it won a
Big Ten championship.
Speaker 1 (36:20):
Right, I'd remind everybody that coach Signetti was not he
was involved in one loss to Ohio State, so put
put it in its proper perspective. Okay, So they they've
lost for years, this group hasn't. This group's played him
(36:41):
one time and lost, and so I think you're right.
I think it's you know, I just I want them
to win for variety reasons, not the least of witches. Uh,
it will shut up the national media. I'm just I
understand tradition. I understand in people's opinions are all you know,
(37:02):
already formed, and they won't they don't change. And Uh,
this is a brand new environment, brand new world, brand
new situation regarding college football. So it's been done in
the past, throwed out the window. It's just it's it's hard,
I know, to get that out of your mind when
you look at it. I just think it's a situation
(37:25):
where if the offensive line is able to hold and
able to allow Mendoza time, if he has that kind
of day, I think they're in good shape. They have playmakers. Uh.
And then the on the other side, you know, you know,
Ohisate can put points on the board too. So I
think this is an interesting checkers and chess match with
(37:48):
both sides. Obviously, my heart tells me want the Hoosiers
to win. And I've never been a gambler. Uh, I've
never paid attention to lines. I have no quite frankly,
I have no idea what those lines tell you, what
they mean. I hear all these people talking about lay five,
you give me the points. I have no idea what
(38:10):
that means. I don't care. I spent most of my
life in Kylege Athletics, and you signed a document saying
you're not gonna gamble, so right, and then when I
stopped I started doing this show. I don't care. I mean,
I don't follow the lines that I will say this.
The people in Vegas who put the line, you know,
(38:32):
the odds together, they're pretty good at what they do.
They're pretty accurate. So what is currently what is the
What did the those betting lines say about this game?
Speaker 3 (38:43):
I know a few days ago it was six and
a half. Last I saw yesterday was four. But let
me pull it up and it is four and a
half right now in favor of Ohio State. So you know,
it's coming down a couple of points from what it
was earlier in the week. And you know, Ohio State's
got the better defense. They've allowed at least points per
(39:05):
game that has Indiana. But Indiana's had the better offense.
So in that case, it'll be interesting to see kind
of which one prevails in that ball game tomorrow. And
you know, like any other ballgame, it's very important to
try to get out to a quick start and try
to get the leader. You know, see if you can hang.
Speaker 1 (39:23):
On, it's a great point. That's a great point. Well
we'll find out eight o'clock start right.
Speaker 3 (39:31):
Yeah, shortly after eight o'clock if you can't make it
to the game, will be on Fox tomorrow night. Pregame
show beginning at six thirty of course, the IU Radio
Network with Don Fisher, Buck Seer, and our good buddy
John Herrick part of that call beginning at seven as
well on the fan locally or on the IU Radio
Network affiliate closest to you.
Speaker 1 (39:54):
Turn the sound down and listen to the to the
legend Don Fisher, that's the plan, all right, Brad, One
more break, one more little bit, our final breaks and
final thoughts. This is Indiana Sports Talk. Welcome back, This
is Indiana Sportstock. Brad. You were a great job tonight.
Wonderful job, very well done. Congratulations, Thank your coach.
Speaker 3 (40:18):
Always good to be with you. And uh, it's been
a fun night, a lot of good basketball talk. A
lot going on tomorrow, So go away to kick off
the weekend.
Speaker 1 (40:28):
Absolutely, if you're a basketball fan, you're into it now.
So are you hosting Louisville tomorrow. Gamebridge Field's at two
point fifteen.
Speaker 3 (40:35):
Correct, that's correct. If you can't make it to Gamebridge,
how about this double header on CBS tomorrow, begin at
Mackie at noon with purdueing Iowa State and then head
to Indianapolis for Louisville and Indiana. So's leave your TV
on CBS for a couple of big games tomorrow afternoon.
Speaker 1 (40:52):
That'll be fun. Big game tomorrow for greg Rick Strawl
and me. Youngstown State at Hi you and Indianapolis. That's
a two o'clock start. Jags need a w gonna get
out of this slump. They're in a little bit conference
game with the Penguins. Very important. You mentioned the Boilers
(41:15):
are at noon. Boise State's at Butler, that's a two
o'clock start. Evansville is at Western Kentucky. That's a four
o'clock start. Northern Kentucky at Fort Wayne and Notre Dame
TCU was tonight, right? Is that game over? It is over?
Speaker 3 (41:31):
And Notre Dame one in overtime eighty seven eighty five,
Jalen Harrelson hit a bucket with three seconds ago to
force overtime down in Fort Worth and another Dame got
the win by two.
Speaker 1 (41:44):
Big win, big big win. As you mentioned earlier and
throughout the night, Wheaton College will be playing at DePaul
University in the Division III National Tournament. There's a third
round game, right, is that correct? Third round?
Speaker 3 (42:00):
That is correct? And I think it's I think it's
a sweet sixteen.
Speaker 1 (42:06):
Yeah, basically, yeah, uh that is that is strong stuff.
Pacers are off until what is it Sunday? Monday?
Speaker 3 (42:16):
They play Monday against Sacramento back here at Cambridge field
House and going to the weekend with a huge win
at Chicago. They beat in Chicago twice in a week now,
so maybe they can finally get some things going for
the Pacers.
Speaker 1 (42:31):
So they've they've added when nim Hart is back. Obviously,
injuries are still not good, but you're just getting some
quality minutes SPECIALIAKA is just talking about putting the team
on your back and carrying them. He did that tonight, Yeah,
no question.
Speaker 3 (42:48):
And he and Benedict matherin tonight combined for sixty four
points between the two of them in this win on
now tonight. So that's over half the points just by
those two.
Speaker 1 (42:58):
Right, Okay, Brad Huber, great job tonight. Enjoy the game.
You and Holly enjoy the game tomorrow night down at
Lucas Oil Stadium. Always great to work with him. I'll
look forward to doing it again soon, Brad, thanks so much.
Speaker 3 (43:17):
Thank you, coach. We'll do it two weeks from tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (43:19):
Look forward to it. My thanks also to the man himself,
Caleb Zuver. You'll catch him tomorrow night. He'll be with
us again tomorrow night. My thanks to our great stations
around the street that state that bring you the show
every Friday and Saturday night, as they have done for
thirty one years. And during that thirty one years, you've
(43:40):

the show talk show in the state's history. It is
the history making legendary network, Indiana's Indiana Sports Talk
