Speaker 4 (00:40):
Don't you are the best? Let's get right to it.
Regional action and this year's IHSAA Football State Tournament. What
you need to know right now and what jumps off
the page from what we've seen on this regional championship night.
Let's begin in Class five and what we saw between
(01:01):
Concord and Lafaete. Jeff Concord outlasting Jeff forty nine forty five,
winning it on a walk off field goal forty eight
yards from Nathan Potter, who is now a legend in
that Concord community. That kid doesn't have to do anything
for the rest of his life and he's gonna be
(01:22):
a legend forever at that high school. Give him the plaque,
give him everything. Forty eight yards to send yourselves to
semi State Concord victorious. Also of note from class three
to eight. Tonight, Knox earned the victory against dan Gola,
which means, continuing in the semi state round, we continue
to see the greatness of Indiana's all time leading rusher,
(01:45):
Miles McLaughlin from Knox. Three hundred and seventy two yards
on the ground and another all time record beaten tonight.
Here's how it sounded on Summit citysports dot Com.
Speaker 5 (01:57):
It's trying to respond McLoughlin's snap, following his blockers. There
he goes, and there's the record center the most rushing
touchdowns in a single season in high school history, sixty
nine rushing touchdowns. Miles McLoughlin does it.
Speaker 4 (02:15):
All, he continues, and I'll tell you what, if this
pace keeps up and he makes it to Lucas Oil Stadium,
he may have that chance to beat Derrick Henry's national
all time rushing record. It's just a matter of time.
And if NOTx stays on this path, all right, let's
get to everything we saw tonight course from all six classes,
(02:36):
starting in Class six A, where it was Carol Fort
Wayne over Penn forty one to thirty. Westfield doubled up
Fishers twenty to ten. Brownsburg, the defending six to eight
champ took care of business against De cater Central that
a final forty seven to twenty three. Lastly, it was
Warren Central by a field goal over Centergrove twenty four
to twenty one. In Class five eight, we already told
(02:59):
you about the legend game Concord and Jeff flipside Maryville
by twenty tonight over Michigan City thirty four to fourteen.
New Palestine the Dragons contained in a role twenty to
six toppling East Central, Bloomington South blew out Floyd Central
fifty five seven. In Class four eight to nine, low scoring,
(03:21):
it was South Bend Saint Joseph by a field goal
over Hobert ten to seven. Fort Wayne, Bishop Dweger defeated
Elemanon thirty nine to twenty seven. It was Ron Coley
defeating Yorktown thirty one twenty seven. Heritage Hills tops Martinsville
thirty five to nineteen three. A expanding on that NOx
in Angola game. Fort Wayne Bishop blures by a touchdown
(03:41):
against Twin Lakes forty fourteen to seven. It was Cascade
over Lawrenceburg thirty seven thirty three, Gibson Southern rocks Indian
Creek forty two to fourteen. In Class two eight. Tonight,
Andrean beat up on Southmont fifty two to thirty two.
Adam Central remains unbeaten, defeating Eastbrook forty two to twenty eight.
(04:02):
This Class two A is going to sound repetitive. That's
because Lapel remains perfect with their thirty eight to seven
victory over Lutheran. Also remaining perfect, Brownstown Central over Linton
Stockton forty three to eighteen. In Class one A, it
(04:23):
was Pioneer by twenty over Laville thirty four to fourteen.
South Adams squeak past North Miami twenty five. Twenty two,
it was South Putenham twenty six Sheridan six, and mylind
upseting the defending champion from Class A, Providence twenty two seven.
Myland is heading to semi state college football tomorrow Notre
(04:46):
Dame in Indiana, both with noon starts. Ball stayed at
noon as well for news on the road at Washington
at seven college basketball Tonight, Number four Duke defeated Indiana
State one hundred to sixty two.
Speaker 6 (04:57):
Welcome back, everybody Stalk.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Regional football Tonight, Harided Chills moves on. They beat Martinsville
thirty five nineteen with me our great friend from waxl
and Santa Claus Steve Cold Steve. Another another dominating win
for Hairded Chills tonight.
Speaker 7 (05:16):
It was.
Speaker 8 (05:16):
It was not easy this game, a little closer than
that final score might indicate. But hair to Chills got
it done. They got enough stops on defense and their
offense scored every time they had the football in the
game except the final two plays of the game to
run the clock out and secure that sixteen point win.
Speaker 7 (05:35):
So yeah, it was.
Speaker 8 (05:36):
It was a very good win. It was kind of
a bit of a strange ball game, but Martinsville absolutely
came ready to play. They have a very nice offense
and they gave here to Chill some fits. But here
To Chills got them off the field and downs three
different times in the game and we're able to get
enough of a lead. This was just a two point
(05:57):
game at halftime that scored two touchdowns and a fead
goal in that first half, Jack Goldsberry with a touchdown
run of thirteen of big your pardon a five yard round.
Then he had a thirteen yard pass to Micah Tohler
plus the field goal from Carter Paine. But Martinsville got
(06:20):
the football back with forty seconds to go in the
half after going behind fifteen to seven, and they managed
to go down the field and get a big twenty
nine yard pass from Chase Davis to land In Casey
to get within fifteen thirteen. Now, their two point conversion
play failed and it was a two point game at halftime.
(06:40):
Martinsville then on side kicked to start the second half
and Heritage Hills mishandled that. So Martinsville got first crack
in the second half from their own forty nine, but
they turned it over on down. They had a four
to one and they ran a little shovel pass to Kyzy,
their slot receiver, and it was a little behind him
(07:01):
as he crossed in front of the quarterback and it
was almost like he didn't expect it and bounced off
his shoulder. Pads fell incomplete and Hareta Chills took full advantage,
marched down the field in seven plays from midfield and
scored on a four yard run from their running back
Dalton Pledger got a big interception on the next Martinsville
possession and then this is where Harita Chills really kicked
(07:24):
it into gear. And I don't know if Hall of
Fame head coach Bob Clayton was in attendance tonight. He's
been at some of these games. Don't know if he
was here tonight, but he would have loved this drive.
Sixteen play drive that took six minutes and twenty nine seconds.
Jack Goldsberry scored on a two yard run and the
extra point failed. Herita Chills had weird issues with their
(07:48):
at the point after game tonight that they left twenty
eight to thirteen. Martinsville then went on a nineteen play
drive trying to get back in it, but they turned
it over on downs. That was the third Patriot stopped
on downs, and it happened at the hairt to Chill
seven yard line with five vote with two with I'm sorry,
(08:09):
with five h seven to go in the game, Patriots
would get the clincher. They would drive down and score
Jack Goldsberry on a thirty six yard run. Martinsville came
back and scored again and another forty seven yard passed from
Davis to Casey towards the end of the game, but
that was as close as they were able to get.
They Haired Chills covered the on side kick and wins
(08:30):
at thirty five nineteen. So Jeck Goldsberry had a big
night rushing the football. Hairted Chills is an offense four
hundred and twenty six yards, but Martinsville three hundred and
seventy nine yards rushing and they're running back. Lucas Dewey
was very good as well, So these were two offenses
that were working very well tonight. But hereta Chills's defense
(08:52):
able to get stops and get off the field on
downs a couple of times three times in the game
to help feel the victory. Haret to Chills continues to
to mostly do it on the ground two hundred and
ninety five yards on the ground. Through the air, Oldsbury
six of twelve for one hundred and thirty one yards
with a touchdown. Weirdly enough, all six completions plus the
(09:13):
touchdown to Micah Toler, who's really the third of that
trio of receiver right. It's caught the few passes, but
he was the guy getting himself open tonight that made
some really nice catches to extend drives and help them
down the field, and herded Chills step up to four
eight continues to march on and boy will this be
(09:34):
an interesting game next weekend as Heritage Chills and Ron
Collie will meet for the second time in program history
for both they played back in the year two thousand.
Jay Cutler led the Patriots to the win in the
Semi State that year at Ron Colley, and they will
go back up and face the Royals again on the
(09:55):
south Side this coming weekend in the Semi State, but
upper class for both of them into four A this time.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
What a matchup that will be tonight though Heritage Hills
beats Martinsville thirty five nineteen. As Steve Cole mentioned taking
on Ron Colly next week. Steve, thanks as always, have
a great weekend.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
Thank you toach you too, thanks so much.
Speaker 2 (10:22):
Coming up school board update with our legend Brendan King.

Speaker 4 (11:06):
I'm brending Kiang with this network Indiana Scoreboard Update HURON
Indiana Sports Talk regional round of this year's IHSAA Football
State Tournament. All scores are in and up until midnight,
we're gonna be recapping everything we saw on this Friday night.
Let's start with Class A, where the most notable thing
from Class A, the defending champ is out of the tournament.
(11:27):
Providence upset by Mylan twenty two seven was the final,
but remaining perfect on the season was South Putnam twenty
six to six, taking care of Sheridan. South Adams squeezed
past North Miami by a Fueld goal twenty five to
twenty two, and was Pioneer having no issue with Laville
thirty four to fourteen. Pioneer trying to get back to
(11:48):
the state championship for the first time since they had
Jack Kaiser Services, who is now with the Jaguars after
a six year run with Notre Dame. In Class two A.
Most notable from that section of this bracket is the
fact that three teams are gonna enter semi state still undefeated.
That's Brownstown Central lowing out Lynton Stockton forty three eighteen,
(12:11):
Lapel taking care of Lutheran thirty eight to seven, and
Adams Central beating Eastbrook forty two twenty eight. All three
of those teams have perfection leading into the second to
last week of this high school football season. Not sure
what more you could ask. And then the last team
remaining in two way, you can make it an argument
they're the best team in two way. That's Andrean fifty
(12:34):
two thirty two over Southmont. So two way is absolutely loaded.
Heading into Lucas Oil Stadium two weeks from now, coming
up at eleven thirty, we'll talk about three A and
four A, five A and six A will capoff at
eleven forty five. I'm brending kick.
Speaker 6 (12:57):
Welcome back everyone. My weekend.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
Every weekend is talking to Paul Condrey. He is in
the Football Hall of Fame. He's in the Indiana Sports
Runners and Sportscasters Hall of Fame. He is in the
Good Guy Hall of Fame. He's you name it, he's
all over the joint. Paul Condrey from the regional Radio
Sports Network too, he is on the call tonight of
(13:21):
Merrillville's impressive win over Michigan City thirty four to fourteen. Paul,
thanks for the call. That's a great win for Meryllville tonight.
Speaker 10 (13:33):
It is Bob there. Won their third regional championship in
a row at that stage survive in advances. They've also
won their twelfth overall regional championship. They sweep this series
against Michigan City. They beat him in the regular season
forty four to seven. Come back tonight, take care of
(13:54):
business thirty four to fourteen. The big story was Marylville's
defense shutting down that high profile, high octane offense of
Michigan City. Is a Michigan City team that came in
averaging about four and forty five yards of total offense
per game arrival, limiting them to about one hundred and
(14:17):
forty four yards.
Speaker 6 (14:19):
On the eating.
Speaker 10 (14:20):
And then, of course, Barraville's offense got it in gear tonight,
racking up twenty first downs, two hundred and sixty three
yards on the ground, rushing one hundred and eleven through
the air, ran total of three d and seventy four
yards of total offense. The big guns for Maryvilletonnight running
backs Cam Jordan one hundred and two yards rushing. The
(14:41):
other tandem of that great backfield, JQ Johnson, was on
the cover of Our Indiana Football Died Jesse. He rushed
for one hundred and twenty three yards. But Michael Held,
a talented junior quarterback who's over three thousand yards of passing,
just kind of did what he needed to do to
help his team advance where they'll take on the Concord
(15:02):
Minutemen at Demrie Stadium in Maryville next weekend. For the
second consecutive year, the Dunland Athletic Conference will be taking
on the Northern Lakes Conference the Big Bucky Bill. However,
on the night, Coach Marville somehow Someway has to figure
out how to keep the penalty flags from flying, because tonight,
(15:23):
once again, this is a marrible team that's averaging ninety
yards in penalties and every football game tonight, they're over
one hundred again tonight, and despite all the great offense
and defense of their playing, they can still make those
kind of mistakes and still win by twenty. Tell you
what can you say about this talented marrible team but
(15:46):
hoping to get off the sneide because they're I believe
they're went zero for twelve and once they've gotten to
the semi state, they haven't got to the state finals
since they won the riampionship back in the seventies. So
good win for Brad seesus Marvelle Payers tonight. They're pretty
talented group and they'll they'll compete well next week against
coach Craig Taylor's Concord Bit.
Speaker 6 (16:07):
Amit Concord with a walk off forty eight yard field.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
Goal to win and move on exactly?
Speaker 10 (16:15):
I heard that guy was right down to the wire
and coach Kaylor went for two, didn't get it as
he was going for the win, and Concord recovers. The
on site kick comes back the other way and I
get a big play and hey, as they say it
went over to the fat man sings and I don't
think this guy was ready to sing at that point.
(16:35):
So I'm happy for Craig Taylor, disappointed for Pat Shanley.
Two really great football coaches, two really good human beings.
Somebody had to win it. So Greig Taylor and Brad
Seats two guys who have grew up in the Northern
Lakes Conference, and it's gonna be a neat championship with one. Hey,
(16:56):
at this point in time, you're one game away from
playing for the gait right what else gets right? Right there?
Speaker 2 (17:03):
Paul Condrey, the legend himself from the Regional Radio Sports
Network in the Indiana Football Digest on the call of
Merrillville's thirty four to fourteen went over Michigan City. Paul, Thanks,
talk to you tomorrow night.
Speaker 10 (17:16):
Thanks Joach.
Speaker 6 (17:19):
Russ Radkey joins me from Knox High School.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
Knox wins tonight twenty eight, twenty one the final over Angola.
Big news about Miles McLachlan. I'll let the coach tell
you about it. Coach, thanks so much for the call.
Congratulations on the win tonight.
Speaker 7 (17:35):
Russan Hey, I appreciate it very much. Very rough ball game,
a lot of situations that we were put in that
we had been in before, and it's just a great
accomplishment for Booky waited very hard. You know, we were
lucky enough to score the last touchdown and we shut
(17:57):
them out for the second half.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
You have neither you score, they don't score in a
second half. After yeah, what would be a wild first half?
Speaker 7 (18:07):
Yeah, yeah, because all the h all the points aggressive wise,
we were ahead at halftime by one and then just
a frementous defensive h battle that was done the entire
(18:28):
second half.
Speaker 6 (18:30):
All right, great defensive battle.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
But Miles McLaughlin gets another milestone tonight, right, I was handled.
Speaker 7 (18:40):
The handled the paper here it says the national rushing
record and the season and the scoring, the national record
in a season. H fantastic effort. He had. Yeah, three
seventy two yards.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
Tonight, three two tonight, which those I can't imagine.
Speaker 6 (19:04):
If you're a football fan. You don't know.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
About Miles, but this is literally an average night in
terms of what he does on the field in terms
of yard is is that about?
Speaker 6 (19:14):
Right?
Speaker 7 (19:18):
The thing that it's just phenomenal is the guy plays
defense too.
Speaker 6 (19:23):
Yeah yeah.
Speaker 7 (19:24):
Seven solos to assist and a game winning interception at
the end. Wow, So how much more can you ask
for a guy that has to kick off also? But
then we have other defensive players to do a heck
of a job. You know, they put pressure and create
the blitz. Sure Chee can average seven tackles, Brian Korcia
(19:47):
seven tackles, Kane wepperd Lever six tackles, Max Kinder. They
gave us everything we could anticipate from Angola what they
were able to do to us tonight. But I got
to give it to our heart. Our defense played and
if you get those shutouts in the second half and
still control of the clock. We had the ball for
(20:09):
twenty eight minutes. They only had it for nineteen. Wow,
And we forced them in the twenty nine passes thirteen completions,
but we didn't bend too much.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
Overall.
Speaker 7 (20:21):
It's right now, you just try to eat. Everybody's the winner.
That's what everybody's trying about, right, right, And you've got
to take this week and prepare it. And we're gonna
be playing the Fort Wayne Lures at Fort Wayne. We
understand Twin Lights gave them everything they could tonight. They
(20:42):
won fourteen to seven, So we'll see what we could
do putting everything together in that perspective.
Speaker 2 (20:51):
Well, tonight, Miles McLaughlin sets the new single season Uh was.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
It touchdowns or is it?
Speaker 6 (20:59):
It's?
Speaker 2 (20:59):
Is it single season touchdown and career rushing? Are those
the records.
Speaker 7 (21:05):
National rushing in one season?
Speaker 6 (21:09):
Right?
Speaker 7 (21:11):
And his yard is right now, I can tell you
he has four thousand, seven hundred and sixty six yards
this year and that's the new national record individually for
a season. And he has a scoring national record also,
(21:32):
I believe I can give that to you. He has
scored exactly five hundred points.
Speaker 2 (21:39):
Wow, Russe Radke, the football coach from Knox They win
again twenty eight to twenty one over Angola, record setting
nights for Miles McLaughlin.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
He goes over.
Speaker 6 (21:52):
He gets four.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
Seven hundred and sixty six yards for a national record
for one season and five hundred points for scoring one season.
Speaker 6 (22:01):
Coach, as always, it's great to talk to you.
Speaker 2 (22:03):
Congratulations to Miles and your team, and good luck next week.
Speaker 7 (22:08):
I think the great word you said there is a team.
If we didn't have the blocking, if we didn't have
that lone, it ain't gonna happen. And how well they
worked together and come up with schemes and the Gold
gave us another challenge that I with a whole brand
new defense. Right, we're really glad of what how and
(22:30):
they all work together. So you know, I as I
found the exhausted I am. We're gonna try to get
some sweep tonight and be ready to roll again tomorrow morning.
Speaker 6 (22:40):
Coach, thanks for the call. Good luck next week.
Speaker 7 (22:43):
I appreciate very much.
Speaker 6 (22:44):
Take care of You're welcome, Thank you. Coming up more football.
Speaker 2 (22:48):
This is Indiana's Sports Sun.
Speaker 3 (22:55):
This Indiana Sports Talk scoreboard update is brought to you
by Quality Supplying Tool in Indian Napolis, Bloomington, Jeffersonville, Lafayette,
Think outside the Box store Quality Supply and toool dot com.
Speaker 4 (23:07):
What's going on. I'm Brendan King with this network Indiana
scoreboard update here on Indiana Sports Talk Regional round of
the IHSA Football State Tournament. We talked about the one
A and two A classes last update. Let's break down
three A and four a's you just heard from coach
Ragke Knox victorious but challenged for sure by Angola twenty
eight to twenty one. Knox is onward to the semi
(23:29):
state round for entered in seventy two more yards for
the New States all time leading rusher Miles mclaughlan's sixty
ninth rushing score of the season. That's the new all
time national record, and he's inching closer and closer to
Derrick Henry's all time rushing record nationally. And he's got
possibly two more games to do it. Are we talking
(23:51):
about a state championship game with a new nationally all
time leading rusher. You could get towards that marker. Obviously,
we have to do the math yew it breaks down
next week, all right? Fort Wayne Bishop lures by a
touchdown tonight over Twin Lakes fourteen to seven. It was
Cascade taking care of Lawrenceburg thirty seven thirty three. Gibson
(24:12):
Southern handled Indian Creek forty two to fourteen now to four,
a low scoring game, but South Bend Saint Joseph moves
on ten to seven. Saint Joe beats Hobert, Fort Wayne
Bishop Dwanger victorious. They take care of Lebanon thirty nine
to twenty seven. It was Ron Colly thirty one, Yorktown
twenty seven, Heritage Hills tonight over Martinsville thirty five. June nineteen.
(24:35):
We'll talk about five A and six A scores coming
up and eleven forty five again. Only college basketball game
Division one hoops involving a team around the state of
Indiana Tonight was Indiana State in Durham, losing the number
four Duke one hundred to sixty two. I ask you
led by ten in that game in the first four minutes.
Speaker 1 (24:59):
Welcome back, buddy, What a fun night of football. Talk
about another great game.
Speaker 2 (25:06):
New Palestine beats East Central tonight twenty to six. A
great matchup of two tremendous teams.
Speaker 1 (25:13):
Man.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
I had to call on the New Palestine radio network
our good friend Andrew Smith. Andrew, that's a very, very
big win for the Dragons tonight.
Speaker 9 (25:22):
Yeah, very big win. Not a whole lot of teams
go down to Saint Leon and come away with a victory.
But I was talking to Jake Miners, e Central's coach,
earlier this week. He said, how fun is this? You've
got two four A teams playing in a five A
regional and these are legit five A teams even though
(25:43):
they're four A in enrollment because East Central obviously, he's
won back to back sectional titles after winning back to
back state titles in four A. Of course, newpal earned
the right to be in five A with their state
championship last year. You felt like these two teams were
on a collision course if newpal could get through Cathedral,
which they did last week, and obviously East Central had
(26:03):
a bit of a surprising thirty five nothing went over
Whiteland in terms of the margin, not necessarily the one.
But this game was a rock fight tonight, just a
defensive struggle, both teams with big lines, and neither team
could really finish a drive. And actually East Central took
a lead midway through the second quarter in a touchdown
(26:24):
run by their fullback Will Graft to go up six
to three. That was the first time New Palace trailed
all season, but the Dragons came back on the ensuing drive,
had a potential touchdown go through a receiver's hands in
the corner of the end zone, so they had to
settle for Evan Walker's second field goal of the night
six to six at halftime and Jake miners in East Central.
(26:47):
They played their game plan perfectly, kept at a low
possession game, tried to give themselves a chance to win
it in the fourth quarter, and they were winning the
field position battle. The entire third quarter was spent in
New Pal's end, but the Trojans could never get into
scoring territory, and finally newpal takes advantage of a short punt,
(27:08):
takes over close to midfield, Kate and Jacobia breaks a
thirty yard touchdown run with nine and a half minutes
to go, and then the Dragons force a three and out.
They take advantage of the short field again. Caden Jacoba
finishes a touchdown drive to make a twenty to six
late and then the Dragons were able to finish it out.
This New pal defense again, the varsity defense has allowed
(27:31):
now three touchdowns all season one tonight, one last week
to Cathedral one and week two to cater Central, and
those are some really good football teams. But yeah, tonight
it was really a case of newpal grinding one out
against a great et Central team. And they've had to
do that against probably the two best defenses besides maybe
(27:54):
their own in Class five A and Cathedral and East
Central and back to back weeks. So you know the
model right now, survive in advance, and you know, getting
to the semi state for New Palestine, their path was
going to be very difficult. And you're facing a great
Cathedral team last week, an East Central team that has
really put things together this year and later in the season,
(28:19):
and it turned out to be a really good game.
Obviously a little bit closer than that twenty to six
finals score, and that's a little bit deceiving just because
the Dragons scored a couple times late, but New Palace
on to face Bloomington South and that should be a
really really intricing matchup next week at Kelso Stadium with
a chance to go back to the State finals on
the line.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
Andrew Smith from the New Palestine Network.
Speaker 1 (28:45):
New pal in a.
Speaker 2 (28:47):
Great matchup twenty to six winners over East Central taking
on Bloomington South next week. Andrew, thank you so much.
Speaker 6 (28:55):
Have a great weekend, Michelle, you too.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
Tanner Camp joins me from the Regional Radio Sports Network.
Tonight he had the Carol forty one to thirty win
over Penn Andrew. Thank excuse me, Tanner, thank you so
much for the call and impressive win for Carol tonight.
Speaker 9 (29:15):
No, coach, it really was. I mean, both of these
teams really really showed. How about this for your total offense.
Carol finished the game with six hundred and thirteen total
yardists six ten with four hundred and thirty seven, so
you will get on over one thousand yards of the
offense for a grand total of one thousand and fifty yards.
(29:36):
And two great teams dug dined in for the Carrol
Fort Wayne Chargers and Pete Reardan for the Penkins. And
I tell you what lot of really really good talent,
and a lot of talent that we're going to even
see next year. And one of them right away was
the quarterback for the Chargers of Carrol Fort Wayne and
Gabe Freisinger. He ended up with two passing touchdowns on
the night, and most of them came from Jayden van
(29:56):
Pelt the senior at five to eleven. How about nine
catches for one hundred and ninety two yards and one
of the touchdowns. And I'll tell you what, Bob, this
was a game that Penn almost could have potentially sealed
the deal with is Carol was actually trailing Pen thirty
to twenty one after the three quarters. But then, as
the score implies, then Carroll would go on to score
(30:17):
twenty points and not give up any points to the
Kingsman in the fourth quarter to come away with just
their second ever regional championship since their magical run back
in twenty twenty two. But give a lot of credit
to this Penn team an undefeated season for the first
time in almost a decade. Landon Hall fifteen to thirty
two for passing for with two touchdowns and two interceptions,
for two hundred and ninety four yards. He's a junior,
(30:38):
so he'll be back next year for the Black and Golden.
Buddy Hurley, also a junior, six catches for one hundred
eighty nine receiving yards and two touchdowns. So really, Bob,
that's the team with tonight was and congratulations to Carol
for making it in. Penn finishes the season at eleven
to one, but a lot of really young talent that
we're gonna see again. Those juniors will become seniors. So
a tough night for the Kingsman, but the senior class
(30:59):
has nothing to their heads about. All of them are
going on to great colleges, whether to play football, whatever
the sport may be, though, or in Vinnie Freeman's case,
go to Rustler Cornell. Long story short, it was a
great contest and now Carol for Wayne will be back
at home and for Wayne as they will take on
the Westfield Shamrocks. But a great contest at free Field tonight.
Speaker 2 (31:18):
Tanner Camp on the call a great call too, by
the way. Carol's win over Penn tonight forty one to
thirty the final Tanner Camp from the regional radio Sports Network.
Tanner has always, thank you so much for the call.
Speaker 9 (31:34):
Have a great weekend, coach, you do the same thing,
and as always, thank you so much for what you
do for all Inniana High school athletics.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
I appreciate the gun words, thanks very much. So that
kind of wraps up football. Brendan King, what's going on?
How about how about what a night? What a night
for all? Especially for you record setting night? You know
you've done a lot of things in your your young
broadcasting career. How about getting a chance to talk about
(32:02):
a national record For Miles McLaughlin, tonight.
Speaker 4 (32:07):
Feels like it's a weekly occurrence. I mean, could you
imagine being seventeen eighteen and I remember being in high
school and going home after you know, Friday night football games.
That was broadcasting and I feel be feeling pretty good
about myself. Imagine going home and you're setting national records
on the grid iron, right, I mean, that's crazy. You
(32:27):
can't even comprehend that. So no, big shout out to
Miles McLaughlin. I think, you know, I was talking about
this with a few people of I think people around
here and people that live in this state understand just
how impactful Indiana athletes are and what they can do,
whether they're on the court or the grid iron or whatever.
(32:50):
But I think, you know, when you have a guy
like Miles doing what he's doing, it helps open the
eyes of other people to say, whoa Because keep in
mind coach Charlie Spiegel's record, It's not like that was
an easy thing to surpass.
Speaker 1 (33:04):
No, No, because at the time.
Speaker 4 (33:05):
When Charlie Spiegel set his record, people looked at that
like it was unbreakable. Right, So I can't believe the
stuff that this kid is doing on a weekly basis,
it seems. And I tell you what coach as mentioned.
You know, with Knox advancing, they've got potentially two games
left depending on how next week goes. And you know,
Miles McLaughlan is trying to inch towards the territory Derrick
(33:26):
Henry's national rushing record, and you know, can he break that?
Can he get towards that mark? Time will tell, But
I'll tell you what, coach, would be pretty unique and
pretty special even if he gets the opportunity.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
Well, I think it's all The cool thing about it
is when we started this show thirty one years ago,
the big criticism we got We're not criticism, but the
reservation we.
Speaker 1 (33:52):
Got from everyone was.
Speaker 2 (33:55):
The fact of the people in the northern part of
the state really don't care about what the people in
the southern part of the state are doing in football
and vice versa and all of that.
Speaker 6 (34:05):
And my question to those people was, how do you know?
Speaker 2 (34:09):
Well, you know, dude, I said, well, here's what we're
gonna do. We're gonna go up there and find out
whether you're right or whether I'm right. So I will
tell you there's great interest in Miles McLaughlin all around
the state.
Speaker 1 (34:21):
And why would you not be interested.
Speaker 2 (34:23):
In the accomplishments, the great accomplishments of who's your kid on.
Speaker 1 (34:28):
The grid iron?
Speaker 2 (34:28):
So Brendy King coming up, final scoreboard update of the night,
and we're back talking more football on Indiana Sports Talk
Long Long.
Speaker 4 (34:38):
You stole many a man's sold me. I was around
when Jesus Christ, at his moment, was down.
Speaker 3 (34:52):
Me damn shuit fight what This Indiana Sports Talk scoreboard
update is brought to you by Quality Supple, Ion Toole
in Indianapolis, Bloomington, Jefferson, Villa, and Lafayette, Think outside the

Speaker 4 (35:08):
I'm Brendan King. With this network Indiana scoreboard update here
on Indiana Sports Talk recapping the regional round of this
year's IHSA Football State Tournament five A and six A.
Our final stops tonight on this last scoreboard update on
this Friday, Let's beginning Class five A game of the
night without question, forty seven forty five Concord outlasting Lafayette
(35:32):
Jeff game winning walk off field goal fourth quarter, Nathan
Potter drilling a forty eight yard field goal as time
expires to give Concord the victory. That kid's a legend,
probably forever. Let's go to Merriville's victory over Michigan City
thirty four to fourteen, New Palestine the victory against East
(35:54):
Central twenty to six. Lastly, it was Bloomington South beating
up on Floyd Central fifty five to seven. That takes
us to six A, where Carol Fort Wayne will head
to the semi state with their forty one to thirty
win over Penn Westfield doubled up Fishers twenty to ten.
I'm sure they put a smile on Jake Gilbert's face,
the former head man of the Rocks is now the
(36:14):
head coach of Wabash. It's Wabash and Depond tomorrow in
the one hundred and thirty first Monon Bell Classic. Anyway,
Westfield's heading a semi state twenty to ten over Fishers.
It was Brownsburg topping to cater Central forty seven to
twenty three. The Bulldogs the defending six to eight champ.
They'll have a chance to punch their ticket back to
(36:35):
Lucas Oil Stadium next week. Lastly, it was Warren Central
tonight by a field goal over Center Grove, twenty four
to twenty one. That's your regional round of this year's
IHSAA Football State Tournament. Enjoy your college football Saturday tomorrow.
Coltsan Bye, It's a quiet Sunday. We'll talk you tomorrow now.
Speaker 6 (37:00):
Welcome back, everybody.
Speaker 1 (37:02):
This is Indiana Sports Time. Okay, Brendan King.
Speaker 2 (37:06):
I've been Uh that was a busy hour you know
we had when we had a few calls notime, No,
not not not at all.
Speaker 7 (37:16):
You know.
Speaker 1 (37:16):
You you come in.
Speaker 2 (37:18):
Look, people have never understood about this show, and I
don't really spend a whole lot of time talking about it.
But you know, because you've hosted before football and basketball. Uh,
I I do not I have when I come in
and sit down.
Speaker 1 (37:40):
In my house now a days.
Speaker 2 (37:43):
But when you see, you know, drive downtown to the Circle,
I would walk in the building in I would not
have any idea when or who would call the show.
You understand this, And people say, you know, it's always
been interesting with our young studio producers that come in
and go, okay, so you know who are the scheduled guests.
Speaker 1 (38:05):
And when are they calling? And I go, I don't
know what you're talking about.
Speaker 6 (38:09):
You you think I'm going to.
Speaker 2 (38:10):
Call a high school coach on Thursday and say, hey, coach,
I need you to call my radio show at ten
thirty eight on Friday night?
Speaker 1 (38:20):
Can you do that?
Speaker 4 (38:21):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (38:21):
And the answer would be no.
Speaker 2 (38:25):
So so what we do, there's there's a whole lot
of faith in this whole endeavor.
Speaker 1 (38:33):
We have faith that we've done it long enough.
Speaker 2 (38:35):
The coaches and my colleagues in the media understand how
this game is played, so to speak, and you're going
to get calls. And I often joked that part of
what my job is is to be kind of like
an air traffic controller because I've got we have five
phone lines that there that are in use, and when
one leave, someone comes, it's it gets pretty packed.
Speaker 1 (38:57):
You understand it.
Speaker 2 (38:58):
You've you've been around and you've hosted this show, so
you know what it's about.
Speaker 1 (39:02):
And so you know, tonight, like tonight, you.
Speaker 2 (39:04):
Have twenty four games and that's not a lot of
not a lot of games because not all coaches nor
media people will call me after a game. I know
that sounds crazy, but you know, I've come to come
to accept that fact. And so for us to get
we had thirteen phone calls tonight, which is pretty good
(39:25):
on a night like tonight. And you know, my wife
when I you know, kissed her and came into the
Bob room to do the show, she goes, how do
you think it'll go? And I said, I think it'll
I think I'll earn my money tonight.
Speaker 4 (39:38):
So every night every night?
Speaker 2 (39:41):
Well, yeah, I think I do. But still so yeah,
I think it's a pretty pretty cool night. And the
other part of it too is I mean, kids set
some national record. Come on, how do you not get
excited about that?
Speaker 4 (39:56):
No, that does not happen every day. I mean it's
special coach to be on the air when those things happen.
I mean, it's uh, that's why you do it, right,
I mean, no, matter what the sport is.
Speaker 2 (40:06):
It is kind of why we do it, all right,
So catch me up on all the things I have
to tell you.
Speaker 1 (40:11):
No offense, but I didn't.
Speaker 2 (40:12):
I didn't listen to most of your updates, even though
they're and I forget you.
Speaker 1 (40:17):
I didn't. But but we've got.
Speaker 2 (40:19):
A busy, busy day of college football tomorrow. Yeah, and
the Hoosiers just have to just keep doing what they do.
Speaker 4 (40:26):
Yeah. I was listening to our friends Greg Raigstrong and
Kevin Bowen a little bit earlier, and they were kind
of recapping just kind of how the tides of tomorrow's
matchup in Bloomington have turned. Because even as of what
coach five six years ago Wisconsin Indiana, Uh, this is
a complete turn of the tide of you know, Indiana's
number two in the country. I mean, it was Wisconsin
(40:47):
beating up on Indiana another big ten POWs every single
year for a long long time. And you know, it's
it's just a weird turn of college football. But I
tell you what, coach, I mean, I think I think
people in Bloomington tomorrow need to salute this Indiana team
considering what they've done. And yeah, it's the final regular
(41:09):
season home game. They're gonna get a home game in
the CFP, but you know, tomorrow's your true last chance
to really to give them the proper salute that they
deserve it. At least in my mind, I.
Speaker 1 (41:21):
Couldn't agree more.
Speaker 2 (41:23):
And I think it's your last chance in many respects
to see you know, in this day and age where
rosters turn over as much as they do, it's the
last chance to see this group all together.
Speaker 1 (41:36):
All right, final break, final.
Speaker 2 (41:37):
Thoughts, Brendan and I'll come back and talk more ball
on Indiana Sports Tuff. Welcome back, Glad you're with us,
(42:03):
Brenda King, Finn's superstar as always by Pacers in action
tomorrow night. Tell me about the banged up Pacers. Anybody healthy?
They have enough bodies tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (42:13):
Well that's the question of the season. I think what
Rick Carlile's comments really came away with us from after
the Phoenix game was Aaron Nesmith, in Carlile's words, quote,
dodged a bullet. It did not look good, coach oh
the injury standpoint, but at least from what Carlile said, now,
there's been no official report published by the Pacers, So
(42:35):
the best that you can work off is what Carlile said.
Doesn't seem like it's the worst of the worst, but
he's gonna miss some time. And you know, it just
seems like, coach, they continue to drop like flies. First,
of course, it was the Obie top in injury, had
a screw putting his foot. He's out till way past
mid season. And then these just little injuries just continue
to pile up and it seems like the only healthy
guy left is Pascal Siakam. But the dangerous game you
(42:57):
play when it comes to that standpoint, coaches, you're gonna
absolutely drain any sort of right Pascal energy. And you know,
if this keeps up, so you really have to be
smart about that, the fact that you don't absolutely kill
by by mid season. Else, coach, quite frankly, there's gonna
be you and me are gonna be playing for the
Pacers by March.
Speaker 2 (43:17):
I doubt that, But I mean, the deal with Siam
is the classic load manage.
Speaker 1 (43:22):
As much as I hate that term, and.
Speaker 2 (43:24):
What they do, they do need to and I'm sure
they do. I'm sure they have a program to monitor
his minutes.
Speaker 1 (43:31):
And all that.
Speaker 2 (43:32):
The idea is to try to win, but you're you
know the the people say, well, you know, other teams
are hurt, they're not hurt to this magnitude.
Speaker 4 (43:39):
No, nothing like this.
Speaker 2 (43:40):
Come on, now, there's nothing. There's nothing like this. And
the irony of ironies is that we all live through
this with the with the fever, and you turn around,
you get you get through that and how bad that
was and how disappointing it was, uh for the you know,
Caitlyn Clark and her teammates and for fans, and then
you turn right around.
Speaker 6 (44:01):
You're when you know, you're you have to deal with.
Speaker 1 (44:05):
Not having your superstar and tyres uh.
Speaker 6 (44:11):
So you know what, it just.
Speaker 1 (44:15):
You just it's crazy. You feel like as if city
where Snake bitten.
Speaker 4 (44:19):
Quite frankly, yeah, it's pretty incredible. But uh, you know again,
it's it's funny. We talked about earlier on the show.
The the fact that I think you'd love to get
the Pacers the bye week that the Colts have, and
you want the Colts to get back on the field
right now so they can get right back to work
after that win in Germany against Atlanta. But that's how
the cookie crubbles and you know, Toronto comes in. They've
(44:39):
been pretty good to start the year. They're coming off
a road win at Cleveland, so hey, no rest for
the weary. And this is the NBA after all, So
no matter what happens, coach, the ball's gonna tip at
seven o'clock tomorrow, no matter who's wearing those new stylish
Pacers jerseys. By the way, not sure if you saw
those that look good.
Speaker 1 (44:54):
We're gonna have Yeah, I saw those. Chris Danire is
going to join me tomorrow night.
Speaker 2 (44:58):
You don't forget to watch the mon on Bell tomorrow,
you know, turn on the i C Sports Network and
or go online.
Speaker 1 (45:05):
And and you know, figure out where you need to go.
Speaker 2 (45:08):
Greg Gregstrawl will be on the on the call as
he's done for the last five years. I worked the
sidelines on that for three years, I think, and uh,
it was as crazy and it's uh, it's fantastic. The
Victory Bell with Franklin and hanover one that's you know,
near and dear to my heart, I understand that.
Speaker 1 (45:28):
Great job.
Speaker 2 (45:29):
Thank you so much to our great stations around the
state for bringing you the show every Friday and Saturday night.
Thanks as always to Kurt Geralds and Brendan King, and
thanks to all of you for making us the most
listen to sports talk show in the state's history. It
is the history making a legendary network, Indiana's Indiana Sports
Talk
