Speaker 1 (04:39):
Welcome back everyone. This is Indiana Sports Talk high school football. Tonight.
Charlestown beat Silver Creek forty seven twenty seven with me
Charlestown's Brian Sullivan coach, congratulations on a great win tonight.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
And I do want to make one correction here, coach,
this is Brian from wnas if Charles it had me
come on the sideline. They never get the victory.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
You know what, No, no, no, no, I got it. You're
the Brian Sullivan right.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
Yeah, something like that.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
I just I just read them as they send them
to me. Brother, I'm glad you called this is a
big Listen, this is a big, big win.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
It was we didn't know what to expect out of Charlestown.
Their longtime coach Jason Hawkins left in the office rights
and went to Clarksville. Uh, they found in a lum
that had been the offensive coordinator at Bloomington South, Aaron Dale,
ran and took over. And you just never know what
the new coaching staff, no how that's going to work out.

(05:40):
But I think one of the things we found interest
in the pregame is the addition of some players that
had not played football previously for Charlestown but had been
standing out to other sports, some really good athletes, and
they made a big contribution right away.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
Yeah, tell you what, forty seven points in your opening night.
That's impressive stuff.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
And they had eleven pretty costly penalties along the way.
The first half went in an hour an hour for
the first half. Three hours, yeah, three hours for the
second half. It took a long time to get out
of there this evening. But even despite that, they had
a lot of big plays. They had six plays of
forty five or more yards. I know that's something that

(06:20):
Charlestown's gonna be really happy with when they go back
and watch the film.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
Well, you know, big plays, you know, wide open offense,
and you got to give some credit even though you
know they gave up twenty seven points. Do you scoring
so much? And that's pretty solid defensive effort.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
Nonetheless, you know it's a little deceptive because you go
back and look at the points that Silver Creek left
on the board. They had a touchdown they caught in
the end zone and it got waved out for a penalty.
They had another pass they were twenty yards behind the
defense and the quarterback hit the kid in stride and
unfortunately fumbled the ball. And so it felt more like

(07:00):
a one possession game. That Silver Creek gave some stuff
away there, and they'll be able to clean that up.
I think we saw after the first Ken Men's the
ball game. It was it was a pretty pretty competitive
battle both ways, but Charleston always held that advantage and
never let them quite get back into the game.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
All right, good job. What about What about the New
albaney matchup tonight?

Speaker 3 (07:25):
Well, that did not go well for the Bulldogs. My
daughter was on the front row and giving me updates
along the way Providence right defending a state champs. And
I was told by some folks in the Silver Creek
press box that Providence has got a young quarterback coming
in that is going to really turn some heads, right,
and they get the forty nine to fourteen win tonight

(07:46):
over New Albany.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
Okay, I depend upon you for my fix down on
the river, So I appreciate that, Charlestownton, No, go ahead.

Speaker 4 (07:57):
You didn't.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
Yeah, I was just making sure since it's just you
and me talking here, you're not the one that didn't
pay the phone bill, correct. I'm just making sure.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
If you have an hour I can I can tell
you about it. And you know what my wife told.
I think my wife gave me the best advice. And
she goes, you need something like this to bring you
back down to earth. She goes, all these people see
all these things about you, they don't know you like
I do. You need to be humbled, and you know,

(08:27):
frankly I have been. So it's a no, it's a law.
I'm glad you did. It's a long story, and you
know we're moving through. We're having a great time. We've
had a fantastic night tonight. Uh and so you know
it's all good. We're Hey, look this our thirty second
year on the air. As you know, when we first started,

(08:48):
the general manager and president of Network Indiana looked me
in the eye and said, we don't think there's any
way this concept has any way of happening, but if
you want to do it, we'll let you do it.
And I said, okay, that's all I need. And so
we were off and running. So we haven't slowed down since,

(09:10):
even though I'm my age is showing on a night
like tonight, but we are. We're happy. Thanks to guys
like you, we get a chance to do this. The
man himself from WNAS and New Albany, mister Brian Sullivan,
on the call of Charlestown's forty seven twenty seven went
over Silver Creek. Thanks, we'll talk to you next week,
all right, coach, Thank you, coach. Dave Harris from Cecina, Coach,

(09:36):
congratulations on the wind tonight over Concordia from Fort Wayne.
That's a very impressive win for you and your guys.

Speaker 5 (09:44):
Yeah, thank you, coach.

Speaker 6 (09:45):
They you know they scrimmaged each noble last week and
you know we came out hot. Twenty seven to seven
at half. Unfortunately, learning back into the game, they're up
twenty eight twenty seven at one point and sowing back
in the fourth quarter. Twenty one answer to kind of
in the game forty eight twenty eight.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
All right, I need you to do this, coach. I
know you're probably pulled yourself away from a celebration. I
need you to hang on. No, you know what, Let's
just keep going. I'm misreading my clock now, you know.
Hold on, coach, I'm sorry. Hold on through the school
board update, Okay, and then we'll come back and talk
about your thrilling win. Can you do that perfect? We'll

(10:27):
come back with coach Dave Harris from Cecina, Brad you
were from Indiana High School Sports dot Com, David Deaton
from WKLO, Andrew Smith and then more high school football
Week number one. This is Indiana's Sports Talk.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
Welcome back everybody. Before we before we get to Paul Condrey,
let's resume our conversation with Dave Harris from Sacina.

Speaker 7 (12:36):
Coach You there, Yeah, I'm still here and I glad
you're with me. Congratulations all there, Yeah, the congratulations on
the win over Concordia tonight from Fort Wayne forty eight
to twenty eight. Tell me about this run you have
in the second half to lock this.

Speaker 5 (12:52):
Game up well, thanksfully.

Speaker 6 (12:54):
Our quarterback Bryce McDonald, in his first start, got hot
in the second half through side at school record with
five touchdowns passing and then our senior receiver at Bryce
Mathis got hot in the second half. Two had twelve
receptions for around two hundred yards and four touchdowns. So
really leaned on them with a couple of turnovers and
we were able to kind of stave off their comeback

(13:15):
and do it have a comeback on our own.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
You know what, It is an impressive night for you.
I mean it really is. And it's great to play
a team out of your area. I've mentioned this more
than once on the show. You know, teams from south
all over the statement. Primarily we have some Fort Wayne
area teams, Indianapolis area teams getting a chance to play.
It's a great way to open up your season.

Speaker 5 (13:39):
Yeah, it really is. It's cool to seeing a different
brain of football.

Speaker 6 (13:42):
And you know, it's a good environment bringing two schools together.
And it's the third of our fourth year contracts though
we're started to playing again next year.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
All right, tell me this is a big win for
you, your first one.

Speaker 5 (13:54):
It's the scene it Yeah, yeah, so I'm in my
second year.

Speaker 1 (13:59):
Actually I'm sorry.

Speaker 5 (14:01):
Yeah, so no, all good, Yeah, first one of the season,
so we'll take that.

Speaker 1 (14:05):
Yeah, tell me who plays well for you tonight, coach?

Speaker 5 (14:08):
Really quarterback Bryce McDonald receiver.

Speaker 6 (14:11):
Bryce mathis our running back dB Gavin Connell then an
offensive senior offensive lineman.

Speaker 5 (14:18):
And D line with Brady Ray.

Speaker 1 (14:21):
Dan Harris, the head coach is the senior they beat
four win Concordia forty eight twenty coach, thank you call
me again after you win these games all year. I
appreciate your time.

Speaker 5 (14:32):
Yes, sir, thank you. Have a blessed to night.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
Thank you. The one and only Paul Condrey Hall of Famer,
Hall of Fame, Broadcaster, Hall of Fame, Indiana Football Hall
of Fame, because he's the best friend football has in
our state. From the regional radio sports network and publisher
of the Indiana Football Digest. Who'd you have tonight? Paul?

Speaker 8 (14:53):
I had Penn's big win on the road against the
Valfa Razo Vikings twenty one thirteen. Good win for Penn
going on the road. They won four straight in this series.
Of course, this series these teams have opened up the
campaign for twenty nine straight years and a good win
for Penn. Tough contest for both football teams, and I

(15:18):
certainly think that despite the fact that the turnovers and
the lack of execution, certainly a lot of positives for
both teams to consider as they move forward. When it's
all said and done, only of about fifty yards were
the difference between the two teams in regards to total

(15:40):
yards for two teams. So I thought it was a
good start for both teams. Got some mistakes will change
after they clean that stuff up.

Speaker 9 (15:51):
So I think it's a.

Speaker 8 (15:52):
First year, first week game, first week broadcast, and a
day why the coach I haven't haven't been in the
broadcast booth in a while, and Mike Pipes are ready
to go home?

Speaker 1 (16:05):
You got Yeah, you got to get home and take
care of your pies because you're joining me tomorrow night
to recap what happened tonight. So got to take care
of that golden voice.

Speaker 8 (16:15):
Well, I'll tell you what, it was a pretty pretty
fun game to be a part of. When it was
all said and done, it was Penn defense I thought.

Speaker 9 (16:23):
Was really really the tell.

Speaker 8 (16:24):
Tale in this one. But it was a highly contested affair.
A couple of mistakes by both teams gave the other
team's life and nearly gave valpara on opportunity to win
for the football game, but Penn, led by Vinnie Freeman
and the guys up were too much of a difference
maker in this ball game, and that's the reason the

(16:44):
Penn wild bunch of defense gets credit for the win
here today, Valparaiso Kellan Hosk, the outstanding All State quarterback,
had a pretty good day at the office. When it's
all right and done, rush for nearly one hundred yards
and through the ball all over the yard. When it's
all said and done, when you're gonna throw the ball

(17:04):
forty four times in a night, wow, and you know
you're gonna have it instead of what Valpo has done
in the pass where it's run, run, run, So it's
now air vikings versus run vikings.

Speaker 9 (17:15):
So it'll be interesting to see how they play it.

Speaker 8 (17:18):
I was really impressed with the transfer quarterback fall four
from Lake Shores h O in Michigan. Landen Hall played
really really well for Penn, and I think Penn, based
upon their schedule, they got Mischawaka next week. Valparaiso goes
to Chicago Brother Rice next week, and for Valparaiso that's

(17:38):
a tough that's a tough Week two game, and likewise
for Penn, a tough Week two game. I honestly believe
that Penn can win against Mischall Waka next week.

Speaker 9 (17:47):
They may run the.

Speaker 8 (17:48):
Table and go undefeated and win the Northern Indiana Conference.
They're a pretty good football team, and I think Pete
Reared and staff did a great job tonight.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
Pan over Valpo Tonight. Paul Andrey and I will talk
tomorrow night recapping the first week or the high school
football season. Paul, thanks so much for your time. Be safe.
We'll talk to you tomorrow night. Thanks judging me, Thank you.
Coming up right now, let's talk some more high school football.
Andrew Smith joins me from the New Pal Radio network.

(18:21):
New Pal number one and five A beats Cocomo fifty
two nothing tonight, overwhelming win. Impress it win tonight Andrew
for the Dragons.

Speaker 10 (18:30):
Yeah, it really was, and it was a game. The
Dragons made their statement very very quickly. They've got eighteen
starters back from last year's state championship team and number
one in five A for a reason. And it took
just two plays into the season. All state running back
Josh reins Is bottled up at the line of scrimmage,
spins out, does a three sixty to spin out of

(18:52):
a tackle, and then basically the two hundred and forty
pound running back outruns everybody down the sideline for a
sixty nine yard touchdown, and then on the fourth play
of the season, kayten Jacoba buts it for sixty one yards,
and then the Dragons defense forced four straight three and outs.
On the first of those, Mason oglesby, who's a guy
a name You're gonna hear a lot over the next

(19:14):
couple of years. And then beyond that blocks upunt recovers
it in the end zone for a score. And then
and then the Dragons recovered a fumble on the ensuing
kickoff and scoring again.

Speaker 9 (19:26):
Seven minutes into the season.

Speaker 10 (19:27):
They led twenty eight to nothing and really controlled this
game throughout Tonight. The offense had three hundred three yards
rushing in the first half, and then because it was
a forty five dozing running clock situation, the gv guys
played the second half. But Caten, Jacobia and Josh Rains
will share the running back position this year. Kate and

(19:49):
Jacoby had one hundred and sixteen yards and a touchdown
on three carries tonight, and Josh Rains had eighty three
yards and two touchdowns on five carries, and Jacob Davis
really good dual threat quarterback didn't have to throw a
lot tonight at fifty five yards passing in a touchdown
to Camp Rallison, but also ran the ball for eighty
nine yards tonight and again in just a half of work.

(20:11):
So if you can extrapolate that over a full forty
eight minutes, that's a team it's rushing for five hundred
plus yards and that's going to be important as they
face a very very good Decater Central team next week.
And when you and the offense was good, the Dragons
defense was phenomenal. Garrett Reins was it felt like we're

(20:34):
calling his name on every play at Dragons linebacker. And
they had nine negative yardage plays in the first half
and really didn't allow a really banged up Cocomo team
to get anything going. And so newpal just continues to
do what it does and wins in week one and
now on to a matchup of state champs next week

(20:56):
on the southwest side of Indy.

Speaker 1 (20:58):
That'll be a great one. I appreciate the call Andrew
Smith from the New Power Radio Network New Palestine fifty
two nothing winners over Cookomo. Thanks so much for the call,
Thank you, thanks so so much by coming up We're
going to get to the bottom of the hour. School
board update. We have much more to go on high
school football. Coming up, We're going to talk with coach

their loss tonight the Links beat them ninety five ninety.
Scottie Agnes from field House Files will join us and

(21:44):
talk about that. Don't forget call us to call us.
Join us tomorrow night on our Saturday night edition of
the show. I know for years we've done this show,

do it on Saturday. We still do all these years,

Welcome back, everybody. I'm Bob Lovel. This is Indiana Sports
Talk High school football tonight Greenwood beat Seymour thirty eight
eight with me head coach of the Woodman, Justin Boser coach.
Thanks for taking time to call me. Congratulations on the
win tonight.

Speaker 9 (24:21):
Hey, Thanks Bob. Always good to talk with you after
a win.

Speaker 1 (24:24):
It certainly is. It's a great way to start. We've
read a lot, you know. I'm a Johnson County resident.
So I read the journal and I see high expectations
for this group of yours, and it seems like they
came out tonight and took care of business from the start.

Speaker 11 (24:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 12 (24:43):
I mean, we've had a great summer. This is our
largest team since I've been here in the last three years.
Over eighty players total from nine to twelve. Over seventy kids.
Dedicated themselves all summer long to have less than four
absence all summer, and just had a great August.

Speaker 1 (25:05):
You know what, that's impressive. It's impressive because I know
how hard that is to do. So that's impressive work.
And tonight, you know, you dominated on both sides of
the football. Tell me who played well for you tonight, coach.

Speaker 12 (25:19):
Yeah, well it started off first play of the game,
Aiden Houseman fifty five yard passed to Benjamin Hummel. Just
had that play kind of drawing up for the last
three weeks and sure enough that it held true and
scored on the first play. He didn't overthrow him. And
you know.

Speaker 1 (25:39):
Started off great there.

Speaker 12 (25:41):
Then you go to we had two headed running monsters.
Gunner Rupert had twenty two carries for one hundred and
twenty seven yards. And then our sophomore running back had
nine carries for one hundred and seven yards.

Speaker 9 (25:55):
That Leland Morton.

Speaker 12 (25:57):
And then defensively, we had a freshman step up had
two interceptions. Wow, both were actually returned for touchdown. One
was called back after a block in the back when
he was about to score.

Speaker 9 (26:14):
So he got a.

Speaker 12 (26:15):
Teammate wo that needs to apologize to him for that one.
But he got another one at the end of the
game with about three minutes left, was able to return one.
That's Orlando Johnson and he's a freshman.

Speaker 1 (26:28):
Very impressive. Who are you playing next week?

Speaker 12 (26:31):
Next week we have the Indian Creek Braves. We got
they had a big win over.

Speaker 1 (26:37):
Yeah, it's gonna be fun tonight though Greenwood beat Seymour
thirty eight eight. Justin Bocher, thanks so much for the call.
Good luck next weekend, all right, thank you, thanks very much.
Brad Huber joins me from Indian High School Sports dot Com.
He has the call on Secina's forty eight twenty eight
win over Fort Wayne Concordia. Brad, thanks for the call.

(27:00):
Win for Cecina tonight.

Speaker 13 (27:02):
It was good to talk to you, coach.

Speaker 5 (27:04):
I know you've heard the coach Dan Harris.

Speaker 13 (27:06):
Yeah, on this big win tonight. He's always been good
to us Indian high school sports dot Com, so congratulations
to him. But yes, it jumped out to a twenty
seven to seven lead. Three touchdowns in the first half
were from Brice McDonald to wide receiver Bryce Mathis to
get that lead. One thing we were alluded to after
the game was that this is Bryce Mathis's first ever

(27:30):
football game.

Speaker 1 (27:31):
Wow, So that's.

Speaker 13 (27:32):
Impressive for him to have four touchdowns one interception defensively.

Speaker 1 (27:38):
That's impressive. That's hard to believe, but it's pretty impressive.

Speaker 5 (27:44):
Yeah, no kidding.

Speaker 13 (27:45):
So he was our player the game tonight in his
first ever games was fort Win Concordia trying to make
it come back, and was their quarterback Eli Trent Show.

Speaker 5 (27:53):
He had three rushing.

Speaker 13 (27:54):
Touchdowns seven yarder and eighty yard and a twenty yarder
to give con twenty twenty eight to twenty seven lead,
and then it was all Sesina in the four order
to get three touchdowns and take the win forty eight
to twenty eight. I know, basketball in the game a
run like this football game was a game of run

(28:15):
tonight for Sasina and Concordia.

Speaker 1 (28:18):
Cecina forty eight twenty eight winners over four wink Concordia.
Brad Huber always great to talk to.

Speaker 9 (28:24):
You have a great.

Speaker 1 (28:24):
Weekend, Hey you coach, you too, Thank you. Nightstown beat
Tagerstown thirty four to thirty three with me. Nightstown's head
coach Trent Taylor, coach, what a dramatic win for you
and your kids tonight.

Speaker 14 (28:38):
Fantastic game, Bob, What a way to start the year
for us. A lot of grit and toughness from our
kids digging out of a hole. Obviously Hagerstown's kids had
a lot to do with that, but just a phenomenal
performance of fighting back and clawing back to get the win.

Speaker 1 (28:59):
So when do you scored the game winner?

Speaker 9 (29:03):
Not soon enough, Bob. It was a lot of those nights.

Speaker 14 (29:10):
I believe we I believe we got that one done
about the middle of the.

Speaker 9 (29:16):
Third quarter to the end of the third quarter.

Speaker 14 (29:18):
And defensively, then we shut him out in the fourth.

Speaker 9 (29:23):
You know, uh, you.

Speaker 14 (29:24):
Know, hearts were thumping all around Haggers down from the
home side and the visitors side, and it was just
a good ball game. We just had gritty, tough performances
from our defense. Uh, Brody Willard gets an big interception,
Dylan Bonowitz gets a fumble recovery. Offensively, Briar Carmichael uh

(29:46):
preseason All State three over three hundred yards passing, four touchdowns,
Jamison Crawford one hundred over one hundred all purpose, Gage
Brody hundred yards receiving, and again Brody Willard's hundred yards.
It was just it was a great way if you're
a fan and you couldn't have you couldn't ask for

(30:07):
rus more on a game like that, it was. It
was a good way to start for us. We did
not play our best football, but to gut it out
was a testament to the kids.

Speaker 1 (30:19):
Who's up next?

Speaker 14 (30:22):
We got another tough one. We got to go to Winchester.
Coach Jones, Yeah, I mean it's always a challenge. Yeah,
from the was it the frying pan into the fire
sort of deal. So we just, you know, we got
to get healthy, we got to get organized again, and
you know, Winchester is a tough place to win too.

(30:42):
And when we got we got to get it figured
out pretty quickly because it's it's it's upon us again.

Speaker 1 (30:48):
Great game tonight, Nightstown beats Hagerstown thirty four thirty three.
Trent Taylor, thank you so much for the call and
good luck next week. All right, thanks Bob, thank you,
Thank you. David Deaton WKLO Brownstown Central Beach Court in
Central sixty three nothing, David, thanks so much of the call.
It's an impressive win for Brownstown Central.

Speaker 4 (31:12):
Well coach. It's year thirty three for Reid May at
Brownstown Central. He's already in the Hall of Fame. They're
coming off winning the Mid Southern Conference last year, they're
coming off with sectional championship, and based on the way
they played tonight, I think it's safe to say they
want to go a little further than they did last year.

Speaker 9 (31:29):
Right. They play on the.

Speaker 4 (31:30):
Show tonight, a very well rounded performance. Their line on
both sides of the line of scrimmage were impressive offensively
and defensively. They ran their trademark single wing spinner series
offense and actually had a passing game tonight to go
with it, and it really kept the Panthers on their
heels all night. Corydon struggled to run the football, had

(31:51):
some good highlight plays in the passing game here and there,
but my goodness, Brownstown is ever deserving of that top
five ranking in the AP and USA Today polls number
six and the Coaches poll in two A. They're an
impressive team, as they always are, but this might be
the best team. Coach may has good teams and great
teams every year, but that may be the best team

(32:12):
he's had for a while. This This team is very complete.
They brought back fifteen starters from last year, and the
Panthers have a lot of experience returning too. But every
time it seemed like they had a spark that might
get things going, tonight, the Braves just put it out
and it happened really all throughout the night. It was
just a lopside of the fair all throughout, and Brownstown

(32:33):
Central showing that they're gonna be a tough out for
everybody they have to face this year.

Speaker 1 (32:39):
I would say so. I would say as long as
he's coaching them up over there, they're always a tough out.
Tonight a great win for Brownstown Central sixty three. Nothing
to record in Central from w KLO. David Deaton on
the call there. David, thank you so much, and I'm
glad you found the phone. It's not an easy thing

(33:01):
to find nowadays. Okay, I'm glad you called me.

Speaker 9 (33:04):
Well, thank you for the message.

Speaker 4 (33:05):
I appreciate it. You're glad I was able to subpid
that earlier.

Speaker 1 (33:08):
Well, thank you. Give my thanks to your staff there
for forwarding that to you. I appreciate it. Thanks a lot.
We'll talk to you next.

Speaker 1 (35:17):
Come back everyone. One of my favorites joins me, Coach
Tom Dilley from Garon Catholic. Tonight they beat mccutche in
thirty to thirteen. Coach, thanks for the call and congratulations
on the win tonight.

Speaker 9 (35:31):
Coach Lovell, always a pleasure to talk to you.

Speaker 1 (35:33):
I appreciate it for all these years you've been right there,
and I appreciate it more than you know, quite Franklin.

Speaker 9 (35:40):
Yeah, more years than either one of us want to admit. Probably.

Speaker 1 (35:45):
Well, you know, from my end of it, this is
my thirty second year on the air, and you know
what people forget is I've been lucky. I had a
career before I started in radio, winning back winning basketball games,
and so.

Speaker 9 (36:02):
You've done You've done a pretty good job in both careers.

Speaker 1 (36:05):
It seems like that, Oh you're you're very kind. I
appreciate that speaking You're doing a good job How about
your guys taking on a pretty good McCutcheon team and
coming back impressively.

Speaker 9 (36:16):
Yeah, they they played hard.

Speaker 11 (36:18):
You know, lots of mistakes first night, and lots of
guys making first starts, which is always exciting, and you
know a lot of question marks going into a first game,
but a lot of them were answered positively. As from
from an efforts standpoint, that's for sure.

Speaker 1 (36:34):
Uh.

Speaker 11 (36:34):
We certainly have some execution things like everybody does, and
to clean up, but no, the kids had a lot
of fun and they had worked off hard getting ready
for tonight, and it was nice to watch him play.

Speaker 1 (36:46):
Well. Yeah, I mean, you know, you're out there, the
kids have bought in, they've been out there, they've they've
done everything you've asked them to do, and you want
them to be rewarded for that. Seems like they were
tell me how you're able to get this win tonight.

Speaker 11 (37:01):
Well, we we did a lot of bending but not
breaking in the first half and got a couple of
takeaways to stop some drives and we're up ten to
nothing and a half and uh uh second half. You know,
McCutcheon came out, had the ball first and went right
down the field on us, and uh really uh kind
of over Powders powered us a little bit up front.

(37:21):
They're awfully big and they do a great job. But
our kids hung in there and kept battling all night.
Got a couple of other key turn turnovers or takeaways,
and we're able to capitalize and finally take control the
game a little.

Speaker 9 (37:32):
Bit in the fourth quarter and you know, get get
a lead.

Speaker 11 (37:36):
Those relatively insurmountable at that point, but you know, overall,
just a good effort game, a good team win.

Speaker 1 (37:45):
All right, brag about your kids. Tell me who stepped
up and played particularly well tonight.

Speaker 11 (37:50):
You know, Quentin Clee was, you know, as our first
year starter at quarterback, senior kid who pretty good player
but was behind a pretty good, pretty much good.

Speaker 9 (37:59):
One last year.

Speaker 11 (38:00):
So the first start, I apologize, don't have his numbers
in front of me, but he was pretty efficient and
made some big plays too, and just ran the offense well.
Three over receivers that I thought did a nice job,
Trevor Macy, Isaiah Lewis, and who am I leaving out?

(38:20):
Sorry about that? Colby Clee also played real well. And
then defensively, we had a couple of kids with big,
big interceptions, Nolan Ratcliffe at safety, and.

Speaker 9 (38:35):
It is it Jack Wilson the linebacker.

Speaker 11 (38:38):
Yeah, I had a nice ticket linebacker anyway. You know
a lot of kids just played really hard, excuse me,
really hard tonight and looking forward.

Speaker 9 (38:47):
To week two.

Speaker 1 (38:49):
Tom Jillie is the head coach at Garon Catholic. They
beat McCutcheon tonight thirty to thirteen. Coach, thanks to the call,
and good luck to you and your guys next week.

Speaker 9 (38:58):
Appreciate it both, Thank you, thank you.

Speaker 1 (39:00):
Nathaniel Finch joins me. You know Nathaniel from Indiana Sports
Talk Tonight with Indiana SRN. He has the call on
Park Tutors forty four to thirty four, went over Covenant
Christian And I'd like to tell all of you that
with all of the calls we've had tonight, all of
the excitement we've had on the show tonight, none of

(39:21):
it would have been possible without the great work of
Nathaniel Finch who made all of this possible. He has
spent an entire week working more than a man needs
to work. And I'm the front man and get the credit,
but the credit for tonight's great show goes squarely to
Nathaniel Finch.

Speaker 15 (39:41):
Listen, coach, we need these four hundred coaches to think
that you had figured out how to send an email
to East and every one of them. I didn't do anything.
It was all you don't say a worried about what
I did this week?

Speaker 1 (39:51):
Right, I'm not smart enough to figure out how to
send an email to one coach, let alone, let alone
four hundred. Hey, but no, thank you. I appreciate that
you know what I go to that thanks. You need
now know how people are? You gotta wait through this? Yeah,
you gotta wait through this scoreboard update. Welcome back. Nathaniel

(40:12):
Fitch ree joins me he has Park Tutor's win over
Covenant Christian. All right, you gotta go quickly.

Speaker 10 (40:16):
Nathaniel, listen, we thought that Covenant Christian was you know,
they wouldn't put up a fight after going winless last year.

Speaker 15 (40:23):
They scored twenty more points today than they had ever
scored in any game last year.

Speaker 11 (40:26):
They were great.

Speaker 9 (40:27):
They actually took the lead.

Speaker 15 (40:29):
In the fourth quarter, but then the touchdown was called
back via penalty, so Park Tutor hangs on. But boy,
offensive fireworks. The quarterback he's a sophomore, Christopher Harris for
park tutor learned that name. He had six total touchdowns today.
It was a great shootout to call. It was a
lot of fun, Coach, a lot of fun.

Speaker 1 (40:46):
Well, once again, thank you for all your great work.
I greatly appreciate it. I'll look forward to talking to
you Monday or Tuesday and catching up. But thank you
you made it all possible. Enjoy the night.

Speaker 15 (40:59):
Thanks for taking call, Coach, You're welcome.

Speaker 1 (41:01):
Thank you. Fever loose tonight ninety five ninety with me
from the fieldhouse file Scott Agues Scott. This group is
banged up and battered. Great competition tonight, but not enough
to beat the Links.

Speaker 10 (41:14):
Yeah, and the health just keeps getting worse. It's unbelievable.

Speaker 9 (41:18):
Coach.

Speaker 10 (41:18):
Before the game, ninety minutes beforehand, Chloe Bibbie, who signed
with them three weeks ago, is going to miss the
game in did within left knee injury. Then seven minutes
left in the game. Yeah, they're starting point guard. Clearly
gets hurt. Will be evaluated this week. They will assign
another player no matter what tomorrow from But they they
hung in there against the best team in the league tonight.

Speaker 1 (41:40):
So hopefully this doesn't spread to guys like you who
cover the team. Everybody else seems to be hurt. You
need to take care of yourself.

Speaker 10 (41:49):
It's really just too bad the coaching staff and that
more eligibility or oh no kidd throw bon January, kareem
at Christmas? Even Stephanie White out there, could they give
you ten minutes?

Speaker 1 (42:00):
Listen, steph can still play. So yeah, you're a hundred
percent right, sure, you know, it's just one of those things.
Give me some bright spots on this thing tonight.

Speaker 10 (42:12):
Yeah, First of all, Lexi Holl scored eleven of their
first sixteen points, finished one point of better than her
career high, so a career high twenty three from her tonight.
They started ten to twelve from three point range, but
only took a two point lead in the halftime. Really
needed to be ten points. And then I'll also add
Kelsey Mitchell continuing to try to be in the conversation
as well with MVP twenty seven points and all of

(42:34):
her teammates showed up in a T shirt trying to recognize.

Speaker 9 (42:37):
Her for that.

Speaker 10 (42:37):
So that was something really special for a group that
has continued to rally together.

Speaker 1 (42:42):
All right, who's up next?

Speaker 10 (42:44):
It was to rematch? Now they go on to Minnesota
to continue this omen Hikes. Yeah, tonight was the marked
nine games left in their season, three of those matchups
against the best team in the league. Now, while the
Fever without Caitlin, that Links continue to be without the
Fisa Collier, who's probably leading the NBV voting at this juncture,

(43:06):
but she's missed the majority of this month, so that
that certainly will have impact. I think for some voters.

Speaker 1 (43:12):
Scott Agnes from the field House Files, I appreciate you
calling back. I apologize for all that Scott Agnes field
House Files. Go there, get smarter about the Fever and
about the Pacers they lose to the Links. Ninety five
ninety tonight. Thanks a lot, Scott, have a great weekend.

Speaker 10 (43:29):
You got it.

Speaker 1 (43:30):
Anything for you, thank you, Thanks a lot. I appreciate
it mine. Thanks also to Kai talling Land and Kunes
Caleb Zuver. Thanks to our great stations around the state
