Speaker 1 (00:00):
Thank you, Coach Lovell. There is a ten of college
football to get to. We will start with the game
that is being heavily watched right now across the college
football landscape. That is number nineteen Indiana, number nine Illinois.
It's halftime and it is all Hoosiers. The potter out
there on the field is Kaylin Previns and their.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Beat staff from center.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
Indiana's gonna pick it up.
Speaker 1 (00:25):
First in fifteen. The arms are hard there long.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
It will not be pretty.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
Here's the stat back and pressure comes a little screen
out here.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Noah Kowski the tight.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
End down to the tunny, down to the town to
great receivers to the far side. Here's Mendoza takes the stamp,
looks to the ends, fires the football wild.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Sir, for the touchdown.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
Don Fischer on the call from lear Field Sports. Thirty
five to ten is the halftime score in favor of
the Hoosiers. Fernando Mendoza is bowling right now for IU
fifteen of seventeen two and twenty yards four passing touchdowns
to four different receivers. Omar Cooper, Elijah Surat, E. J.
(01:11):
Williams are the three whiteouts with a touchdown. Second half
starts shortly for Network Indiana Sports. I'm Eddi Garrison.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
Welcome back everyone, this is Indiana Sports Suck. Thanks for
joining us last night, very busy not high school football.
If you listened to I apologize, I was. I was
not feeling well and I was not. I did okay,
but it was not my best effort. So I apologize
and we're going to be better, all right, Eddie, I'm
glad you're with us. How you doing?
Speaker 1 (01:40):
I'm doing well, coach, how are you?
Speaker 2 (01:41):
Man? There's nobody better than Fish? I mean, come on now, seriously,
there's a reason he gets all these awards that none,
none of the rest of us even have a chance.
And why should we. He's that good? And who's yours? Wow?
What a have? That's unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
That's probably the most perfect half you can play. And
I know Kurt Signetti was not pleased with how it ended.
Indiana had a chance for a pick six, the defensive
back dropped it, and then Illinois marched down the field.
They were able to settle for a field goal because
Indiana kim what was some big stops defensively, but probably
five to ten and your quarterback only has two incompletions
and you've got five sacks defensively as well as Yeah,
(02:24):
unbelievable half of the Hoosiers.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
Yeah, if I were in the Big ten, I'm not
sure i'd want to be going down to Bloomington to
play football, to be honest. You know, it has transformed
into an extremely difficult place to play against an unbelievably
good football team. So that's great, good for them. So
just starting the second half, right.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
Yeah, they're about to start the second half. They just
went the half time about five to ten minutes ago.
So yep, all right.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
So we you know, years ago, Eddie, when we were
doing putting this thing together, you know, we came up
with the concept of, you know, we'll do two minutes
scoreboard updates and then we'll do five minutes top of
the hour. And I have long thought that two minutes
at the quarter hours not enough, you know what I mean, Like,
you know, you open up, uh, and you don't you
don't get it, you don't you don't have a lot
(03:14):
of time when you open up, and and you know
how this like last night high school football come on now,
you know, ten thirty at night on a Friday night,
and we're giving you two minutes the scores right, I'm
sorry to say that's one of the few arguments I lost.
(03:34):
And my my concept was, let's go to three, and
you know seem to me, you know, it makes sense,
you know, just bump them up to a to an
extra minute and it's gonna throw a little clock off
this And there were there were a great number of
reasons why we couldn't do it, and so we just
(03:55):
have never done it. So to that end, what's up
with Purdue Notre Dame?
Speaker 1 (03:58):
How that go did not go well for Purdue. It
was pretty much dominated by Notre Dame from the time
that they kicked off. Fifty six thirty was the final
score at Jeremiah Love had a really good game for
Notre Dame one hundred and fifty six yards on the
ground to touchdowns. And Jedarian Price is counterpart in that
backfield seventy four yards, nine carries, three touchdowns. So that
(04:19):
is absolutely wild to think that, yeah, he was finding
the end zone on every third carry. And then yeah,
quarterback Ryan Brown did look pretty good.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
I thought he, you know, made a decent showing. I
really don't think I was getting ready to say that
there are some signs of optimism. There some reasons you
can point to, and he's one of them.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
Yeah, you know, it's your number one for Bury Otam.
The first time that Ryan Brown's getting getting a chance
to be, you know, the starting quarterback on a week
to week basis, and you're just trying to, you know,
build strides. If you're Bury Otam, you go on the road.
You know what is a topical difficult place to play
at Notre Dame. It's you know, it's Notre Dame. You
can get a little starstruck. And I thought the ability
of Notre d for Purdue to go down on that
(04:59):
first drive, come up with a creative play to get
Mockaby the ball and then he's throwing a touchdown past
to Ryan Brown. It's like, oh okay, yeah, you're here
to play.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
So yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
It's nice to see though that Purdue didn't quit even
though they were down by multiple possessions in the second half,
and hopefully they can build on this and move forward.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
This early though, I still think, you know, if you're
Notre Dame and there's a certain sense of desperation that
you're going through the way the system is, you can
if you expect to be in the playoffs again this year.
You got to do what you did last year and
literally run the table. And so you're you're playing if
you're prdue, you're wrong place, wrong time, playing a team
(05:36):
that desperately needs to win, and so hard to hard
to play against a team like that. What else you
got there? And on the college front, uh.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
Not happy to report for you, coach. It was not
a good day for Franklin College.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
They lost to Day you know, trying's a good team.
Mike Leonard back, you know, it's again, it's gonna take
him a while. I understand all that. I think the
faithful understand that. So that'll that'll go. Well. How'd your
Alma Water do today?
Speaker 1 (06:06):
They're still playing right now, still playing it right now. Okay,
there's five minutes left in the fourth quarter, but they're
up on Kendrey forty seven nineteen, So should be happy.
Chris Caevers. It was homecoming night tonight for the University
of Indianapolis.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
So right, yeah, I'm sure you were king when you
were still in school, right.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
Homecoming king, of course, of course.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
You know, if not, they should have referred to you
as King Eddie.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Anyway, don't you referred to as cousin Eddie way too
often telling.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Me, yeah, yeh see, I don't, I don't. I don't
like that. How'd ball State do?
Speaker 1 (06:38):
Ball State Cardinals? Yeah, let me pull up, let me
scroll there. Ball State they they lost to yukon thirty,
but they were on the road, so nice. It was
an impressive performance today from Mike Rinovich his team.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
All right, short break, we'll come back, talk some more football.
This is Indiana Sports Stunt. Well, come back everyone, This
is Indiana Sports Sock, brought to you by Indiana Donor Network.
Colts staking on Tennessee tomorrow at one o'clock. All right, Eddie,
tell me about this Colts matchup tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
Colts are healthy. Everyone that was on the inter important
leading into today is now off the reports. Yes, it
is travarious word clear concussion protocol. So he will be
up and ready to go tomorrow for the Colts down
in Nashville. Tyler Warren was questionable with the toe injury.
They have now removed that, thank good, injury designation and
he will be good to go. So the Colts will
(07:31):
look to go three and oh tomorrow one o'clock down
in Nashville.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
Three and oh wow and frankly, they have a great shot.
This is a Tennessee team that's I know, I politely
put this, They're just they're okay. How's that They're just okay?
Speaker 1 (07:51):
Yeah, they're in anemic offense. They've got one of the
worst offenses in the league. They only have one touchdown
on the season. And you know, typical Colt's history would
tell us what you know that you know going into
game like this, I lay those things out. You know,
Tennessee's going to score four touchdowns, manage only like five
fiel rows or something crazy. It'll happen.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
Well, listen, it's been impressive. I don't think there's any
question about it. Daniel Jones has done what he's was
brought in to do, and that's managed the game, not
make mistakes, and be a leader, and he's done that superbly. Defensively,
a lot of excitement about the new coordinator. I'd say,
to this point, they've passed with flying colors, so to speak,
(08:30):
and so yeah, why not get excited about this game.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
It would be the first time in sixteen years at
the Colts start three and oh, and of course that
was the year they started fourteen and oh and then
they lose that game to the New York Jets two
days after Christmas, right, So that's what they're looking to do.
And the most impressive part to me, coach about Daniel
Jones is when you watched him play with the New
(08:55):
York Giants, he always looks so scatterbrained and so stressed out,
and now he looks so relaxed and confidence right, and
he looks like a totally different guy. And the fact
that you know, this coach, cult, coaching staff, the players
on the roster have welcomed him and kind of instilled
some confidence back into him. You can kind of see,
you know, that first round talent, that first round you know,
(09:17):
the lottery selection that he was at Duke that the
New York Giants made, and the kind of guy that
led the Giants too a playoff win on the road
in Minnesota against the Vikings not too long ago.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
I think more than anything, he just who wouldn't feel
relaxed getting out of New York?
Speaker 1 (09:36):
No kidding, seriously, who.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
Wouldn't Who wouldn't feel relaxed getting away from that franchise?
For heaven's sakes?
Speaker 1 (09:43):
Yeah, no kidding. And I think the coincidental part here
that Uh, that I just started to think about a
little bit more. Is like Daniel Jones was the replacement
for Eli minning out in New York, and now he
pross for the franchise where Eli's brother pretty much built up,
and he's playing in front of a in a stadium
where his Eli's Brother statue was out in front of
Lucas Oil. So you know, just the ties there kind
of wild to me as well.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
I think the ties clearly are wild, and I just
think that it's a great thing. All right, So one
o'clock start on that. What time do the Fever play tomorrow?
Speaker 1 (10:15):
They play at three o'clock tomorrow. I'm against the.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
Come on now, that's the listen. That's the biggest story.
It should be the biggest story going is what that
group has accomplished.
Speaker 1 (10:26):
I know it's been almost as impressive of what as
what the Pacers did. I should say it's been more
impressive than what the Pacers did by making the NBA Finals,
just considering the number of injuries they've had to deal
with and all this stuff off the court too. Starting
the season with you know, the Dwana Bonner situation and
signing with the team. Next thing, you know, she's moved
to the bench, she's unhappy. Then she just leaves the team,
(10:48):
decides say, hey, I don't want to play for you
anymore since you know, I'm not starting or whatever and
it's not working out here than Stephanie White misses a
couple of games early in the season because of some
personal matters, and now this Fever team, they just play
with a different level of conviction and will and togetherness
that some of these other teams don't play with in
the WNBA. And you know, the collection of them is
(11:08):
better than some individual parts. And at least that was
the case against Atlanta. Now they face in Atlanta Dream Team.
That is twenty and three since the last time the
Fever played them. So it should be a fun series
starting tomorrow at three o'clock.
Speaker 2 (11:21):
All right, So yeah, you know, get the remote in
your hands. It's pretty simple. Back and forth Colts Fever,
Back and forth, Colts Fever. That's your game plan, scoreboard update.
Coming up with the man himself, Eddie Garrison. This is
the Eddie Garrison half hour. We'll network Indiana's Indiana Sports Dock.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
We'll get tomorrow high school or college football scores. That
is at the top of the hour. Major League Baseball,
the regular season is winding down. Cincinnati Runs at Chicago Cubs,
game number three of a four game set from Cincinnati.
The first two went in favor of the Reds. Today
the same thing. Zach Latelgo's five innings of two run ball.
Emilio Pagan picks up his twenty ninth save of the
(12:06):
season as the Cincinnati Reds defeat the Chicago Cubs six
to three. It is the fourth consecutive win for the Reds. TJ. Friedl,
Spencer Steer, and Tyler Stevenson all hit homers in this
one for Cincinnati, and as things stand right now, because
the Reds won and the New York Mets lost, in
the wildcard standings of the National League, the Reds are
(12:27):
one game behind the New York Mets for that final
wildcard spot. The Cincinnati Reds just need to tie with
the Mets by the end of Game one sixty two
because Cincinnati won the regular season series against New York.
Bottom of the eighth inning, now ending in Chicago between
the White Sox and the San Diego Padres six to
(12:49):
two advantage right now for San Diego. They got four
of those six runs in the top of the sixth inning,
a game though went final just prior to the start
of tonight's show, the Cleveland Guardians and Soda taking on
the Twins, and it was a shutout victory. Logan Allen
goes eight innings, he strikes out seven Minnesota Twins matters
and Cleveland's eight to nothing when they are thirteen games
(13:10):
over five hundred. Now at eighty four and seventy one,
bottom of the ninth inning over in Missouri between the
Cardinals and the Milwaukee Brewers, these two teams are tied
up at two apiece. A run scored for Saint Louis
in the fourth and the fifth. Milwaukee responded to a
run at the top of the sixth to tight at two,
and that's where we stand.
Speaker 2 (13:33):
Welcome back everyone. This is Network Indiana's Indiana Sports Suck,
brought to you by Indiana Donor Network. We're glad you're
with us. We have a lot of football to talk about.
How about Week five wrapping up last night in high
school football? Later on tonight, Paul Condrey and I will
talk about that and then look ahead to week number
(13:56):
six with that sink in for a second Week number
six and as you know there are only nine weeks
in the regular season, so you can do the math
and figure out where you are. And here's another great
way to gauge what that's all about. Mister Condrey will
join you, Paul Condrey will join me in the eleven
o'clock hour and we will talk about are you ready
(14:18):
for this? Talk about the Pairing Show? Yes, you and
I are hosting once again. We're hosting the Pairing Show
and that comes up on October the twelfth, October twelve
for that. So we got a lot to go. Not
a lot of time left obviously in football on the
(14:39):
high school side, and so plenty of things to talk about.
Great games, and as always we'll look ahead at what
the big matchups are coming up in a week. Number six.
All right, Eddie, tell me about IU. If we started
that third quarter, you at it, we'll steal at halftime.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
Third quarter has started in I. You picked up right
where they left off in the first quarter. They marched
down score a touchdown. So it's yeah, forty to ten Hoosiers.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
Yeah, oh, everybody talking about how good Illinois is. What
did I miss?
Speaker 1 (15:10):
It was a Kaylon Black forty yard touchdown run this
time for IU, but they just simp. I know Illinois
had some injuries coming into this game. Defensively, they lost
their they call it the green dye if you're listening
on TV, so it's their their quarterback of the defense.
The guy who's calling out the plays in the first
half is filling in for the starting safety who is
his brother. Right, got called for targeting and he was
(15:32):
ejected in the first half, So yikes. Yeah, Illinois down
their top two defensive leaders and this one at the
safety position. So they just have not had any answers
really for IU. And that one touchdown for Minnesota in
the first half came on a bus to coverage. I
you just miss miscommunicated between the defensive back and the
safety and let the receiver run ride open down the
(15:54):
field and Luke Altmeyer hit him down there for a touchdown.
And outside of that, I used the has not allowed
Illinois to do anything. This has been a pure dominant
effort from Kurt Signetti's team. In their first test of
the season.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
That's a polightwere saying, it's a plightwave describing a butt kicking,
so to speak, Oh yeah, or whatever phrase you want
to insert.
Speaker 4 (16:17):
Right there, can of you know what, Yeah, that And
you know the cool thing is listen, it's it's it's
must watch TV and all those for all those years
where the Tailgators didn't get in and inside Metmorial Stadium.
So it's a completely different situation and it's pretty cool.
It's been the big buzz all week about this ballgame nationally.
(16:40):
It's gotten quite a bit of attention too.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
Yeah, and right now on TV, they just sold some
highlights from Bloomington I think it was Bloomington North that
one last night over Tarot Hot South fifty six and nothing.
So you get a nice little high school pub during
the course of the broadcast as well in NBC. And
you know, Indiana has the They have Island next week,
so that'll be an actual test for Indiana because you're
going to come off the high of this win against Minnesota.
(17:03):
Assuming you can close it out, you have to go
on the road for the first time of the year.
Then Indiana will have their bye week after next weekend,
and then they'll go on the road to the West
coast and take on Number six Oregon. So an upcoming
pivotal stretch for Indiana, assuming they can close the deal
today against Illinois.
Speaker 2 (17:19):
I love the fact that they got the dog doll
by everybody last year, won the great run they had,
didn't deserve it, weren't that good, didn't belong, captured lightning
in a bottle schedule, wasn't it the all whatever excuse
you want to trot out. How do you like them now, Pale?
I know, right, just hold on a second. Yeah, well,
(17:42):
you know it's just a one year. I don't think
so right now. I think those of you who took
that approach on the national level or even the local level,
I think you were all wrong.
Speaker 1 (17:52):
The one thing I appreciate about Kurt Signetty is even
though they were playing those easy games to start the year,
the first three or whatever, he never stopped to coach
like some of these coaches. You know, you get up
fifty fifty to nothing, forty to nothing or whatever. Right,
we're gonna throw the backups in there and we'll just
let them have fun or whatever, do whatever, and we'll
just kind of sit back and watch him.
Speaker 4 (18:08):
No.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
I love the fact that he's coaching literally from the
time the ball is kicked to win, the time or
the clock kits zeros on the scoreboard. So that's one
impressive part about Kurtzinetti. Everything's a teachable moment with him,
no matter what the score is.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
That might explain why they're winning all these games, because
that's how he approaches it and that's how his players
approach it. Look, this is business, and yeah you can
talk about being in college and all the fun. This
is a multi million dollar business and you need to
treat it as such. And they certainly have Eddie Garrison.
You're you're alma mater wrapped up yet? Or are they
still playing?
Speaker 1 (18:43):
They just finished forty seven nineteen, So happy me, Happy
Corbyn Lingenfelter, and happy Chris Keepers if he calls into
the show later.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
Oh yeah, if he has time. But he's always good
about it. What was the final?
Speaker 1 (18:54):
Forty seven nineteen?
Speaker 2 (18:56):
All right? So real they ranked nationally yet? Or do
we have out or what do we.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
Know they are ranked? I can't remember where they're at,
but I know they are ranked within the top twenty
five for the Division two.
Speaker 2 (19:07):
They're perennially ranked in the top twenty five, as they
should be. All Right, I'm just excited. Do you have
a football game high school game coming up soon?
Speaker 1 (19:17):
I do not. I have a couple of weeks off
and then I'm.
Speaker 2 (19:19):
Yeah, yeah, but you're all your attentions on the fever.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
That is right as uh, since I do their pregame
and postgame show for them, and yeah, that's where my
main of my concerns and majority has been. So that's
why I haven't been able to call as many high
school football games and call into the show on a
Friday night.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
Man, it must be tough being you, having all these
demands on your on your time. I'm just thinking, I
want to in my next life, I want to come
back and be you. You know, I want to be you.
I want to live that life. Now, are you kidding me? Absolutely?
Speaker 1 (19:52):
You. Wendy, by the way, ranked second nineteenth in the
Division two rankings.
Speaker 2 (19:56):
They're underrated. They're underrated for having's sake. They need to
get some love, get some respect, all right. So fever,
everybody's healthy on the fever. They have been healthy.
Speaker 1 (20:07):
Yeah for the most part. It'll be interesting to see
if they get Demirs Daunt's back or not. She was
in the concussion protocol for she got She entered the
protocol a week It was on the tenth, so ten
days ago. It was a Wednesday when they were practicing.
She reached the entire series against Atlanta, and she's a
big part for the Fever coming off the bench because
she's another one of those bigs that can helps the
(20:28):
floor for Adana and especially if Eliah Boston gets in
foul trouble, because you're going up against arguably one of
the greatest basketball players the W has ever seen in
Asia Wilson. Starting tomorrow at three o'clock.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
I'm loving Kelsey Mitchell though you can't talk about great,
She's done nothing but be great, and you talk about putting. Yeah,
she and Aliah Boston and others, but those two specifically fantastic.
Now they're playing tomorrow at three o'clock. Eddie Garrison coming
up top of the our scoreboard update and we're gonna
talk some Notre Dame football among other things coming up
(21:04):
in the next hour. This is Indiana Sports Talk.
