We're gonna have more scores coming up for you for tonight,
but loss of live look Indiana Fever, Las Vegas Aces
four to twenty one, remaining Las Vegas Ace's lead. Indiana
Favorite sixty nine to fifty niney Game bridgefield House, but
never Indiana Sports All Alanda Coons, Hello everyone, Landy Coons
here with you. We're having some technical difficulties on our end.
It's gonna be a good night for everyone here. Landy Couons. Here,

(01:53):
Ethan Patterson alongside with me here as we deal with
technical lishes dealing on coach level's end. But getting more
into this Las Vegas Aces game here tonight, Las Vegas
Ace is leading the Indiana Fever sixty nine to fifty
nine with four twenty one remaining in this game. For

(02:13):
the fever leading score of the night as of right
now is Kelsey Mitchell nineteen.

Speaker 4 (02:21):
Welcome twenty.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
We do have a call here, do we have? Yeah,
it's me, Hey, Joe just going on to me.

Speaker 4 (02:27):
Hey, what's that.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
I've just got a small technical glitch here. I'll be
fine as soon as we reconnect.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
I'm glad. I'm glad you're there.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Landon, thank you very much and thanks to all of
you for joining us on Indiana' sports sock. We have
a lot to talk about obviously, Week number six, that's that's.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
The big story.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Do you want to remind you in a couple of weeks,
literally a couple of weeks, we're.

Speaker 4 (02:48):
Going to have the Pairing Show and we're going to
be doing that.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
On the twelfth of October. Looking forward to that once again,
opportunity to be involved in that's always great and it's always.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
On and a lot of pressure on all of us.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
We're all excited about that and what's coming up? All right,
Landon Kuns, talk to me about college football tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
We have big games.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
They're all big pretty has the weekend off, but I
you is continuing to roll.

Speaker 4 (03:17):
This should be a great matchup with him tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
Oh yeah, coach, this is going to be another big ten,
exciting big ten matchup Number eleven, I you rants going
into core country taking on the Iowahakeys agains tomorrow at
three point thirty. And with the way IU has been rolling,
especially after just demolishing Illinois last week, I mean Illinois
on ranks, so this should be an easy win, one

(03:40):
would think for the Hoosiers. But this is going to
be another thriller of a game for Coach Singnetty and
the boys.

Speaker 4 (03:46):
I just continue to play at an unbelievable level.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
And then Mendoza has been a tremendous edition without question
and his and I think he's just going to continue
to get better and better.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
Quite frankly, Oh, I think so too.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
And you know, I feel like I've seen a lot
of people here of lately putting Fernando Mendoza into early
Heisman conversations right now, and like he has done so
incredibly well, like even that game last week weekend against
Illinois twenty one for twenty three two hundred and sixty
seven yards five touchdowns like this kid is unreal for

(04:23):
a junior, and you.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Know what, they surround him with talented receivers. I don't
think their frontline gets nearly enough credit for what they've done.
This is a high powered offense that is really difficult
to match up with. And when Mendoza has time, which
he seems to have, he is very, very impressive in

(04:47):
terms of his ability to move the ball around, share
it and make great reads and make great deliveries.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
Oh, I'm completely I completely agree with you. He's just
he has been probably one of the best IU quarterback
so that they've seen, probably since Michael Pennix. But no Mendoza.
Mendozo is rolling on all four cylinders right now. And
you know, I want to know how much of it
has to deal with that kind of the rocky start
against Old Dominion. It did not look good at first,
but then ever since that, it's just been blowout after

(05:16):
blowout after blowout. I don't know what Kurch coach Signetti
told his guys, but right now, whatever it is, it
is working tremendously.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
All right, Notre Dame tomorrow, they're in action, correct, Notre Dame.
Still not sure about Notre Dame. To be honest, I
just I'm I'm not exactly sure. They play Arkansas on
the road tomorrow. Uh, it's one of the they're in
a must win situation. The rest of the time they

(05:50):
need they need w's and that's a tough spot to
be in.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
Oh, most definitely. And I mean you can already argue
now that Notre Dame as well out of playoff contention
after are dropping two straight losses to start the season. Arkansas,
they're on ranked. You would think that would be an
easy win for Notre Dame, but only time will tell it.
Just it is not the ideal start that coach Marcus
Freeman and this fighting Irish team really wanted.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
Also, tomorrow, we've got It's a light day in terms
of the small college ranks in college football, Bye week
for a lot of schools.

Speaker 4 (06:24):
There are not a whole lot of games going on.
Give me an update on the fever tonight. What's happening
with the fever so fever?

Speaker 3 (06:32):
Right now? They trail the Aces sixty nine to fifty nine,
three fifteen remaining in this game.

Speaker 4 (06:39):
Down ten with three minutes to go.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
Correct, Yes, that is correct, coach.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
Yikes, yikes, all right, that's that's the way it's gonna
be Land and Dunes, and I'll be back on Network
Indiana's Indiana's Spots Son. Welcome back everyone. I am about
the level of This is Indiana's Sports Star, brought to
you by Indiana Donor Network, Week six of high school football.

Speaker 4 (07:04):
All right, Landon, Coons, tell me what they.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
Happen in school board update wise?

Speaker 4 (07:09):
I know I caught some of them.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
I don't think two minutes is enough for everybody on
a busy not like the ninth or do we have?
Are we getting a lot of scores and people responding
to us?

Speaker 4 (07:19):
What's going on?

Speaker 3 (07:20):
Yeah, coach, we are getting a ton of scores coming
in here. It's almost too much for me to keep
up with. But yes, they are pouring in by the second,
and you gotta love it. Right, we got a ton
of We actually have a few of the ranked games
of the top twenty five coming in now as we speak.
Refresh my page here. Brownsburg narrowly defeats Westfield fourteen to ten.

Speaker 4 (07:43):
We have.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
Ron Colly forty five to seven over buff Bloomington South
fifty four to seven over Southport Carol fort Wayne forty
two to six over South Side Franklin Central thirty seven
to ten over Noblesville New Palace shutting out Greenfield Central
forty nine zip. Carmel's sixty three to fourteen over North
Central Center Grove shutting out Lawrence Central thirty six zip.

(08:08):
And East Central getting a sixty six to six win
over South Dearborn.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
That time of year, you know, it's conference you're in
conference play. Weather, it's perfect, It's unbelievable. Something is now.
The Brownsburg Westfield game. Westfield was up in this game
for a while. This was you anticipated it being a
great game, and it sounds like it ended up being

(08:36):
that way.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
It sounds like it's me because I'm looking at the
stats here. At halftime, Westfield was up ten to seven.
So Brownsburg must have just had something there at the
very last minute there and must have been able to
get it in. But yeah, they had had a passing
touchdown eleven yard pass from Oscar Fry in the third
quarter seven minutes ago, and then that was all she
wrote from the rest of the game.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
There you go, all right, so Fever not looking good?

Speaker 4 (09:02):
What's up with that fever?

Speaker 3 (09:04):
With a minute sixteen remaining clock stopped Aces lead Fever
seventy five sixty three. Leading score for the Fever is
Kelsey Mitchell with twenty one points, Lexi Hall with sixteen points,
ten rebounds. He's got a double double for her, and
Aliah Boston with ten points.

Speaker 4 (09:22):
When did they play again Sunday?

Speaker 3 (09:24):
I do believe the Fever play again on Sunday. I'm
checking the schedule, yeah, real quick, but yes, they do
play again on Sunday at three o'clock and it will
be just down the road from our studios at Gamebridgefield House.

Speaker 4 (09:37):
Oh, they'll be fun.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
They'll get back home and then you're gonna have to
go back out on the road to win a game five.

Speaker 5 (09:43):
That's listen, That's that's doable. That's absolutely doable. You look
at how resilient they've been all year long. Why would
it not be doable. That's exactly how it is. All right,
catch me up Sunday, Colts in action.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
Right colts, Yes, sir, trying to go four and oh
how about this?

Speaker 3 (10:03):
Got a coach? I haven't seen a four to Oh,
I don't even think. Probably in my lifetime. If it
did happen, that was probably when I was very very
little back in Peyton Manning days. Yeah, that was Colts
Los Angeles Rams Sunday four o'clock kickoff. Some big news
earlier tonight. Kenny Moore, Alec Pierce, and Matt mccaves all
out for the for the game. Came over with an

(10:26):
achilles injury, Alec Peers concussion, in Calves with a toe injury.
Mike Hilton, he was a former Bengals quarterback, is expected
to be promoted from the practice squad and he has
experience with lou and Arumo's defense. One of the big
things for the Colts is that they're gonna have to
watch out for Pukin Nakua because he is a massive
threat on that Rams offense in that wide receiver position.

(10:48):
But you're gonna see more reps more likely from Ady
Mitchell filling in for Alec Pierce and Dalton Tucker will
fill in for against Olves.

Speaker 4 (10:57):
Sounds sounds good, All right, Landing Koons, I'll turn you lose.
Let you do some serious work.

Speaker 3 (11:04):
Thank you, coach, appreciate it, Thank you.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
Coming up on the Sunday, the twelfth of October airing show,
Be ready, be ready for that. I think that's a
six o'clock start, Not exactly sure. We'll let you note
throughout the night coming up scoreboard update with the aforementioned
Landon kuons.

Speaker 4 (11:25):
This is Indiana Sports Doff.

Speaker 3 (11:28):
Week six of Indiana high school football continues and the
scores just keep coming in. Jerabusco beats Fremont or Freemont
thirty six to fourteen. Schandeauh forty eight to twenty seven
over Hagerstown, Heritage Christian taking down Cardinal Ritter forty to fourteen.
Bishop Satard over Garrian Catholic fifty six to fourteen, Sacina
taking out greyw with Christian fifty to twenty nine. Jay

(11:51):
County over Woodland. Final score twenty one to seven. Bedford
North Lawrence shuts out Jennings County sixty three nothing at
typical New Valley shutting out Jimtown thirty three zero. Breman
gets a slight victory over Glen fifteen to fourteen. Lapel
massive win over Rushville forty one to eight. Lebanon gets

South or Tera Hose South Side gets a thirty seven
to twenty six win over Northview, Alexandria twenty one to

(12:55):
twenty seven over Oak Hill, Penaltan Heights getting a fifty
six to thirteen win over Mountain, Vernon, Fortville and green
with thirty five to twenty over Perry, Meridian and the Fever.
Looking back on them, they are still down here seventy
eight to seventy with thirty four seconds remaining in this
game three of the WMA seventy Finals.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
Welcome back everyone.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
This is Indiana Sports Talk, brought to you by Indiana
Donor Network. High School Football Week six Carmel Beach North
Central tonight, sixty three to fourteen with me the man
who had to call in this game on the ISFC
Sports Network, the one and only the best at what
he does, Greg Rigstro Greg Carmel flexing their muscles tonight

(13:35):
over North Central.

Speaker 6 (13:37):
Yeah, Carmel is back, and in a big way. You know,
the five games they have won have all been by
twenty four points and more. The last three home games
against Centerville of Ohio, Columbus North, and now North Central
have all been running clock games in the second half, Bob,
they led this one fifty six uping and half timon
led sixty three to nothing at one point in the
second half. North Central got a couple of late touchdowns,

(14:00):
one for their starters, one for their backups. But again,
this Carmel team is really good and they have gone
from a team, Bob, that won three games last year
to absolutely legitimate being in the state championship contention conversation
here in twenty twenty five.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
I would think that without question they're in the conversation
because they've beaten some really good teams and been very
impressive and how they've done.

Speaker 6 (14:24):
It correct and obviously, you know, Their best win is
probably the Week two winning against Westfield at this point
where they won thirty four to ten. That was a
game where they were the better team, you know, for
three of the four quarters. You know, when they put
up forty nine against Fishers in weeknumber one, that caught
some folks attention, and frankly, Fishers has backed that up
for the most part because Fisher's only their lossiting in

(14:44):
the night was against the defending state champs in Brownsburg.
Carmel will finish with Ben Davis, with Warren, with Warren Central.
I think that Warren game for Carmel is going to
be very telling here in a couple of weeks, you know,
because Warren was four and one, they were leading at
last check, meaning they're five and one having won five
games in a row. Warren's got to play Len and

(15:05):
Carmel and Cathedral. What a finishing kick for J. C.
Whittaker's team. But I think that Carmel Warren game in
week eight is gonna tell us a lot about both
of those teams.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
Couldn't agree more. All Right, you got soccer tomorrow night.
You and I are gonna be talking about that, right.

Speaker 6 (15:21):
We'll be living on Tulsa time, my friend, because the
Indie eleven play hosts to FC Tulsa at seven o'clock
tomorrow evening.

Speaker 1 (15:28):
Funny you mentioned that I was listening to that album
the other day on my walk, So thanks for the.

Speaker 4 (15:33):
Memory, Greg Ragstraw.

Speaker 6 (15:35):
The IOC Championship, we have these great soundtracks of these
different markets we can play in, so we can either
go down to West Texas town of Beltass or we're
living on Tulsa time, which every way you want to
take it, Bob.

Speaker 1 (15:46):
Be safe, have fun out there, Greg rag Straw, Carmel Beach,
North Central sixty three fourteen, Western Boon shuts out Frankfort
Tonight sixty one nothing. Western Boon's justin. Pelly joins me, coach.
Thanks so much for the call, congrast relations on the.

Speaker 4 (16:00):
Win, Thanks, Bob.

Speaker 2 (16:02):
How are you not as well as you are? That's
for darn sure.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
I haven't beaten anybody sixty one and nothing lately, but congratulations.
I know you don't set out to come up with
that score. Your kids must have put some things together
pretty well tonight.

Speaker 4 (16:16):
Yeah, all three phases.

Speaker 7 (16:18):
We're kind of working tonight, you know, blocked upon for
a touchdown. We did what we needed to do in
the for a quarter and a half and then we
got most of our guys, you know, young guys played
that second half, did a really good job.

Speaker 4 (16:30):
To keep them out of the and to keep the
zero on the right side of the scoreboard, which is good.

Speaker 2 (16:36):
You're playing well, coach. It's a great time to be
playing well.

Speaker 1 (16:39):
And you know you ranked for a reason because you're good.

Speaker 2 (16:43):
What's making this team go right now?

Speaker 4 (16:45):
Well, we're young.

Speaker 7 (16:46):
So we started out with about eleven or twelve of us,
twelve guys that had no varsity experience.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
Some of them are juniors, some of them are seniors.

Speaker 7 (16:54):
But we're starting to dell together a little bit and
they're starting to figure out their place and getting the
right guys in the right spot.

Speaker 4 (17:00):
Fun to do. It's fun to It's the.

Speaker 7 (17:01):
Fun thing about high school ball is to you know,
you got to play with a hand, your delve a
little bit, but you've got to figure out where those
cards go. And our kids are starting to grow up
and now they have six games under their belt, so
they're not rookies anymore, and we keep getting better. That's
a big credit to our scout team and our younger
kids too. Because they come out practice every day as well.

Speaker 2 (17:20):
Who were the standouts tonight, Coach.

Speaker 7 (17:23):
Oh, we had a lot of them, but you know,
Jack Mallory, uh sophomore linebacker, blocked the punt for a
touchdown tonight.

Speaker 4 (17:29):
I thought our old line played really well.

Speaker 7 (17:31):
Luke Cummins, Gabe Conyer, Sam Rowse, Jackson Jones, Levi Cavin
Evan kipling her up front. You know, we, like I said,
we could kind of run the ball, throw the ball
a little bit. Dylan Cheats had a couple of touchdowns.
Jake Smith's been on Taylor lately. He's he's probably itching
toward the thousand yard mark right now after six games,

(17:52):
which is pretty evitable. So doing pretty well right now.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
Tonight Western Moon beats Rankford sixty one nothing. Justin Pelly,
thank you so much for the call. Good luck next week.

Speaker 4 (18:05):
Thanks Bob, Thank you.

Speaker 1 (18:08):
Mike Jones from Winchester Community joins me. They beat try
High tonight twenty two to fourteen. Coach, thanks for the call.
Congrats on the win, Bob.

Speaker 8 (18:17):
I appreciate you having us on. We really appreciate you
covering Indiana high school football like you do, and I
am excited to get talked to you.

Speaker 1 (18:26):
I appreciate that, and I love Winchester. I love the
sugar cream pie, even though my cardiologist wishes I didn't.
I am a massive fan of your legendary sugar cream
pies in Winchester.

Speaker 8 (18:40):
Well, I'll be there tomorrow morning at eight o'clock doing
my radio show, so I'll see what I can do there.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
You might want to just fed ex me one day.
Don here to Franklin. How does that sound? Hey, great win?
Tell me how you do this?

Speaker 4 (18:54):
Well?

Speaker 8 (18:55):
First of all, hat's off the try really good football
team playing at their homecomings. So for us to go
down there and steal one from them with extribute to
our kids, a really good ball game eight to seven halftime,
they had the lead, they go up fourteen to seven
in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 4 (19:11):
And we scored two touchdowns in.

Speaker 8 (19:13):
Last seven minutes of the game and get out of
there with a twenty two to fourteen win and feel
good about it.

Speaker 2 (19:20):
Well, who plays well for you tonight coaching this big win?

Speaker 8 (19:24):
Well, we're just under four hundred total yards, so the
offense obviously did a really good job. Aiden run read
two touch Aiden had two touchdowns one hundred and eighty
seven on the ground tonight. Caleb Hummel, who we have
moved to quarterback after Week three, was eleven of fifteen
to night for one hundred and twenty two yards and

(19:45):
a touchdown throwing it, and he also ran for seventy
three on eighteen carries.

Speaker 4 (19:51):
So those two.

Speaker 8 (19:52):
Guys really played well. But obviously if you're running the
ball well, Bob, you know sure blocked well. We did things,
we took care of it, and like I say, really
good win for this grew, really good football team.

Speaker 2 (20:03):
We have here who's coming up next week?

Speaker 8 (20:06):
Next week we host Hagerstown for our homecoming.

Speaker 4 (20:09):
So okay, one of the big ones in.

Speaker 8 (20:12):
The Driistern Conference.

Speaker 4 (20:13):
Winchester Hagerstown should be a great one.

Speaker 1 (20:16):
Tonight Winchester beats Try High twenty two fourteen. Mike Jones,
congratulations again. I appreciate the call. Good luck next week.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
Appreciate you, mom, Thank you, thank you very much.

Speaker 1 (20:30):
Coming up school board update and we'll talk to Jason
Low from Springs Valley. That's the play in week six
of high school football, and we have a lot of games,
a lot of games to catch you up on around
the state. We're so glad you're with us. Don't forget
to join us tomorrow night. We're going to talk a
lot of college football tomorrow, but tonight high school football,

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
