we turn it over to the star of ours show.

Thank you, coach. It is great to be with you
and Kylin Tally on this Friday night here in Central Indiana.

(01:26):

He plans to appeal. Coming up here shortly. That was
after the NCAA investigation. More to come. I'm Corbin Lingolnfelter.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
Welcome back everyone. All right, Corbyn Lingolnfeld try to talk
to you in a long time.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
How you doing.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
I've been all right, coach, How are you good?
Speaker 1 (01:50):
Hey? You know I'm just plugging away, my brother plugging
away season thirty two. Told somebody today I was twenty
when we started the show, and they didn't leave that.
How about that? Well, yeah, I was as far away
from twenty as you could possibly be, quite frankly, and
(02:11):
we are still there. Brother. You know you've you've been
a part of it for a long time. We still
do what we do. I'm asked a lot by people,
you know, how much longer I'll do it? My answer
is I'll do it until I don't. You know, typical
(02:32):
answer for me. You get a smart ass response from everything.
I think the big key is I'm proud of what
we've done. It's fun. I enjoy it, and we've stayed
pretty true to the mission the entire time we've been
on You know that. You can tell there's not much
different now than when we started in August and nineteen
ninety four.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
Oh yeah, the show. It sounds amazing. You do an
amazing job every weekend. Did We have great people that
work in and out of this building and on this show.
We've had great people who may no longer work on
this show, but they're out doing their own thing in
the industry and they're doing great. And I have to
think a lot of it has to do with the
lessons they've learned from you and just everything that came
(03:15):
from the show.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
Ah, you're kind all right, Tell me about the Colts.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
What's going on? We got we got a game we
get once we get something up tomorrow, right, we got something.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
Going on that we do preseason game number two, the
only home preseason game for the Colts this season, that
comes up against the Green Bay Packers at one o'clock tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
A little scrimmage, A little scrimmage action earlier in the week.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
Correct, Yeah, yesterday, Coach, the Packers and the Colts met
for a joint practice and they gear up get ready
to go for Saturday.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
What was your overall reaction, I'm my reaction to their
their scrimmage with the with the Packers. Offensively, some things
really need to be cleaned up, you know, some penalties,
those kinds of things, dropped balls defensively, some positives. What's
(04:07):
the overall consensus.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
I think the overall consensus, Coach, still comes down to
who's going to be your starting quarterback for Week one? Yeah,
we have no clue. I've got some audio from Shane
Steichen from yesterday's joint practice, kind of still keeping the
blanket over the ceremonial chess that determines who's going to
be the cult starting quarterback Week one against Miami. And
(04:32):
I think that's a big concern. But then also the concern,
as you mentioned, it was a concern last year, the
number of drop passes. Yeah, the completion percentages, and then
the offensive penalties. I mean those are drive killers, you know.
I mean you played, you were quarterback. How much do
you hate when your offense gets a ten yard holding
penalty after you just completed a thirty yard pass down
(04:54):
the field that got you in the field.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
Go right, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. We do want to
remind everyone if you're coming from out of town, you
are going to endure some traffic situations that you're probably
not ready for. Is that accurate?
Speaker 3 (05:10):
That is extremely accurate. Coming from the South Side, it
is a.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Mess, right, and there's trust me, there's no way around it.
The advice is basic, fundamental advice. Leave earlier. You're going
to need more time, and it's you know, I don't
want to cast any dispersions on the Department of Transportation
(05:38):
or the City of Indianapolis, but everyone has schedules and
everyone can look at calendars, and everyone understands that at
its best time, a Colt's game day is an absolute
mess anyway, irrespective of traffic and construction issues.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
So, I know it's a preseason game, but still, if
you're coming, give yourself plenty of time because you're going
to need it. When you get downtown, you just are.
And I'm thankful that I don't have to make that
drive anymore.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
You're lucky, I am.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
I am lucky. I tried to point out to people.
I got lucky by doing this thing for thirty two years.
And there were plenty of nights when I made the
Franklin to the Circle driving back and inclement weather and
you name it, I did it. And so I think
I have I have a little bit of capital invested
(06:50):
in it, and so yeah, now I'm doing it for
my home and thankfully avoiding that. That's a good thing.
All right, Corbin. We're glad you're here. Your warriors are
thought of very highly coming up in high school football.
We'll talk about that a little bit later on in
the night, but I'm glad you're here. We'll have a
little bit of fun, all right.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
It's good to be back.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
Coach Carmen Lingoenlfelter back school board updates. And I still
wish I had his voice. I think mine is horrible.
I love his, and we just have to deal with
the short break. We'll come back and tuck a little
more ball on Indiana Sports Tuck. Welcome back everyone on
Bob lovel This is Network Indiana's Indiana Sports Talk next
(07:34):
Friday Night, opening night for high school football. If you're
not already excited, you need to be. We started this show.
Speaker 4 (07:43):
In August of nineteen ninety four, so if you put
you know, if you think about that, this in fact
is our thirty second season of doing high school football
and basketball in the state of Indiana.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
We would never have been able to do this without
eight great radio stations that took the classic leap of
faith with us back in nineteen ninety four. Some of
them are still with us, which is incredibly gratifying and
we appreciate that. And so what started out as an
(08:21):
idea that no one had ever done before, No one
had ever produced a statewide show devoted to sports and
distributed via satellite that had never been done before, and
quite frankly, ESPN Game Night had not been done yet.
(08:45):
So we got ahead of everybody that I'm enormously proud
of that and enormously thankful to Scott Eaker for giving
me the opportunity. Unless those eight stations take a flyer
on an old Rundown college basketball coach, we don't make it.
(09:09):
So thank you for doing that. Thank you for those
stations who have been with us throughout the entire thirty
two year tenure. Thank you very much. You've made it
possible for us to have fun, bring information, tremendous information
to people in their local communities. And we're part of
(09:30):
those communities and we're honored to be able to say that,
and so thank you very much. And so get ready.
I'm just getting myself. You know, the reason that come
back the first of August is always to just like
in teams their preseason preparations, you know, we make sure
we have to push the right buttons and I have
(09:51):
to make sure I get in the right rhythm to
get to those schoolboard updates and commercial breaks that we
have to take to pay our bills and recognize people
and recognize stations, and so we all need time. And
you know, later on tonight we're going to talk high
(10:12):
school football with Paul Condrey from the Regional Radio Sports
Network and the Indiana Football Digest. If you're not in
possession right now of the greatest book of its kind,
the Indiana Football Digest for twenty twenty five, I encourage
you to do that. I encourage you to check with
your local high school teams see if they're selling them.
(10:34):
Many of them are. If that method doesn't work, go
to Indiana Footballdigest dot com, navigate your way through that
process and pick up your copy of the magazine. This year,
the magazine has almost four hundred pages. It's just it's insane,
(10:58):
the number, the amount of infrom is incredible. To be honest,
there're three hundred and ninety six pages. Took me second
to get to that last page, and so you'll get that.
Each team of the state has its own page. You
have they are key players, their schedule, those kinds of things,
and so it's tremendous information. Quite frankly, I can't do
(11:21):
the show without it. And so Paul's going to join
me later on tonight and talk about the top teams
in the Indiana Football Digest in terms of preseason and
kind of get an overview of what's happening as we
start high school football next Friday night. Now again, need
to be with us, have some fun. We try to
(11:43):
contact as many coaches as we can to have them
call us. You can always help us by encouraging the
coach in your community at your high school to call
us and talk about their games, or you know, contact
the people at that radio stations that bring you the
show and ask them to have their play by play.
Guy callus, we need your help. After this break, we'll
(12:07):
come back Schoolboard update with Corbyn lingoln Felter and then
talking some more football on Indiana Sports Stock.
Speaker 3 (12:14):

Speaker 2 (13:57):
Welcome back, everybody. I'm Bob Lovel.
Speaker 1 (13:59):
This is in yeh, it's Forestak. I'm thrilled to be
back with Corbyn Lingenfelter. He's doing scoreboard updates. A busy weekend.
Do we not mean we got a lot going on?
Obviously We've got a colts matchup tomorrow with Green Bay
Downtown at Lucas Oil Stadium. Again, leave early, give yourself
some time or else you're gonna be in a mess.
(14:21):
And what else we have going on? We've got the
Fever a little matchup also this weekend.
Speaker 3 (14:26):
Correct, that is right, They are in Connecticut, and.
Speaker 1 (14:32):
We still it's frustrating. It's frustrating for all of us.
We still don't know what Caitlin is doing. So we're
hopeful that she's gonna play, but we just don't know.
That's a Sunday game, and so that's We're just we
just have to wait and see. We certainly care about
(14:54):
her long term concerns. So that's it. What else do
we have going on this week? IndyCars off, NASCAR is
in action at Richmond. What else am I missing?
Speaker 3 (15:06):
Uh? That's really all I've seen so far here in
terms of the state of Indiana. There's MLB games going
on outstanding.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
How are my Cardinals doing?
Speaker 3 (15:17):
Uh, they're kind of doing all right, you know, it's.
Speaker 1 (15:22):
Kind of been their year. Yeah, tip of Fox just
having another one of those nights.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
I'm a Sour Braves fan. Coach. I'm sorry, I have
trouble seeing other teams in the MLB doing great. When
the Braves are acting like they're in the nineties again.
Speaker 1 (15:37):
It's a dark time, my brother. Oh yeah, I mean
that was I mean, really really dark. So I'm sorry.
I share. I feel your pain. I really do. I
don't share it, but I feel your pain. I understand
how that goes. But we got one week until high
school football, and it's kind of hard to believe we're
at that point. Your your Whiteland Warriors are fall very highly.
(16:01):
This year had a little you know, not not a
season that they expected last year, but this year they
expect to be much better.
Speaker 3 (16:09):
Yeah, Coach whitelyn is you know they're going to be
a contender, of course for sectionals, like usually they are
outside of one or two years when I was in
high school. But you know, we're talking that this team's
three years removed from a state finals runner up team.
Last year, as you mentioned, didn't really have a season
(16:29):
that they expected, as you said, But you know, if
I know coach Fisher, he's going to have those guys
ready to go. Started on August twenty second.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
Yeah, so you know, we've been we've been having fun
getting ready. As I mentioned, Paul Condry and I are
going to talk a little bit later on tonight. Also
later on tonight, Kyle nitt Rip from the Indianapolis Star
will join me. We'll get his insights on what this
upcoming football season is going to be about. We'll talk
a little baseball, we can always talk baseball, And later
(16:59):
tonight we'll talk with Alan Karpik from Goldenblack dot com
talking about the pretty Boilermakers. Talk about a situation where
nobody knows what's gonna happen. Brand new coach, eighty new
players or so some some crazy number. Uh so, uh literally,
an entirely new roster, new coaching staff. But they they
(17:23):
have a lot, a lot to look forward to, even
though the league office doesn't like him and gave him
a pretty difficult schedule, as they always seem to do.
So we got we got a lot of football to
talk about, a lot of baseball to talk about. And
the Colts coming up tomorrow. What time does that game
start at Lucas Oil Stadium?
Speaker 3 (17:42):
That is a one o'clock kickoff.
Speaker 1 (17:44):
You need to leave now, Yes, okay, I'm just telling
you leave now. Sleep in your car or get a
hotel room downtown because uh so, what's the is it?
Is it mostly construction downtown?
Speaker 3 (17:59):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (17:59):
It is.
Speaker 3 (17:59):
There's there's a lot of construction going on downtown. Uh,
sixty five has been under construction for like fifty years, right,
So yeah, playing ahead, I will warn you sixty five
northbound currently Now I've got to verify this, but I
believe is being shut down tomorrow. Northbound is being shut
(18:21):
down tomorrow to continue that drainage project they've been working
on all summer. So if you are heading to the
Colts game, make sure you play accordingly.
Speaker 1 (18:32):
How do you come from the south if sixty five
is closed? Where's it closed? Where does it? Where do
they close it?
Speaker 3 (18:38):
It'll be at the four to sixty five interchange.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
Oh no, oh, my goodness. Uh, I have no advice
for you, folks, I really don't. I mean, here's how
I here's how I view it. Of course, Mike, my
daughter and son in law and grahamson all living they
all live in and well, my daughter and son in
(19:01):
law live in Naples, but there have a condo and Indy,
so you know, and my grandson lives in Broad Ripple
and so they have you know, we have a pool.
They come down quite a bit, have been able to
make that trip because of just what you're talking about
is that it's just just too difficult for him to
(19:24):
get here. So again, think about this, if you're trying
to get into the heart of Indianapolis. It's not just
the south side. And if you're coming in from the
north side or the east or west side, what what
are their difficulties construction issues?
Speaker 3 (19:37):
M h Yeah, that's gonna be your biggest issue.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
Is that are we doing the Is this about the
bus lines and stuff?
Speaker 3 (19:46):
Some of them might some might also be repairs from
over the winter because we had that big freeze back
in early right, so there's still a lot of pop whirls.
I call them tired destroyers. But yeah, there's still a
lot of things that need to be repaired and fixed
from j just constant driving over from big semis and
(20:09):
things like that.
Speaker 1 (20:10):
Here's my recommendation. Just watch the game on TV. Uh
mister Rakestraw, Greg Rakestraw will have that call, he'll have
the television call. We're gonna talk with him later on
tonight and do that, and then what times the Fever
game Sunday.
Speaker 3 (20:26):
Uh Fever will play Sunday. I just had it that
game will tip off at one o'clock on NBA TV
and also here locally on the fan.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
Oh okay, good, good, listen. Let's just hope things go
well for him. They'll be ready to ready to go,
all right, coming up later on tonight. And here's here's
our here's our lineup tonight. I think you're gonna like
it coming out to the top of the top of
our score. And I'm gonna talk to Matt Taylor from
the Indianapolis Colts. Also in the next hour, we'll talk
(20:58):
with Paul Knighting, the commissioner of the i H s
a A. And in the ten o'clock hour also Kyle
Nednrip from the Indianapolis Star will join us. UH Later
on tonight, we'll talk with Alancarpick from Gooldenblack dot com.
Brendan King will join us from the South End Cubs.
Howard Kellman talked to us about the Indianapolis Indians. We
(21:19):
get a lot to talk about. Stay with us. This
is Network Indiana's Indiana Sports Talk.
