did so many interviews, so many Well, he's still wain't.
Speaker 4 (04:08):
On the front man.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
Look, some of the audio is bad. I ain't gonna
like it got a little loud in there, and then
at one point it was too loud screaming and they
were just kind of yelling at the mic. So I'm
so sorry if some of y'all didn't not get your interviews.
That was why I don't want that content. I ain't
gonna hold y'all. Y'all would have just been here.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
Yeah, and you gotta you gotta put a good content
because people be getting all mad.
Speaker 4 (04:32):
Why she got me sound like exactly, okay, you know
what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
So why put you out there like that? So you
ain't got yours yet? Visit the next event you know
what I'm saying, because it ain't gonna stop there, It's
gonna keep rolling. And you know it was real loud,
and uh, it was a lot going on, but I
know Avita was talking about the news. Uh what do
you think about Let's introduce you one more time. Can
(04:59):
you introduce.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
Yourself Robi e a media woman, host of pillow Talk
podcasts or when that's what we've missed.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
Oh that's what that's what we missed. That's what I
would wait for, that Piloton podcast because that's let's let's
kind of talk about pillotop. Okay, let's jump straight into
the interview. What made you come out with the name
pilotok Mmm.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
I thought of this name actually when I was in college.
So I've been thinking about doing this show way back
when I did go to college for broadcast journalism with
the minor and electronic media went to SYUC shout out
to Carbondale, Saluki. But it's always been like in my
head to have a show where there is like no
censor as far as what you talk about. And usually
(05:46):
when you think about pillow Talk, sometimes you like secrets
you know that you share between somebody that you trust.
Speaker 4 (05:52):
So for me. That's the basis of Pillotalk. Obviously, you know.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
I'm a shareal business with the world because it's a
public show. But we having a conversation where you're able
to be vulnerable about opinions that you have outside of
whatever it is that you do, and I feel like
that makes you more relatable as a person, which will
make people more worthy of supporting you. So pillow Talk
is just about having that vulnerability in conversation and that's
(06:15):
what I wanted to call it.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
I love that, I love I love the whole concept.
I want to get that around pl Like five people here,
but they usually be feeled up, were clapping and being
real on the show because a.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
Lot of people don't know Robert E. She do such
an amazing.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
Job and she she goes out and she do a nonprofit.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
Let's speak a little bit about the moment y.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Let's talk about So I'm actually a marketing director for
Legacy Reentry Foundation. We are based in Waking in Illinois,
and we do focus mostly on just helping people that
feel incarcerated within their mind. So we do help those
that just get out of prison, but we also assist
people that just don't know what they want to do,
(06:56):
maybe they are lost in direction, maybe they just need
to get a fresh start. So we offer expungement, we
offer job fair. We have a free community closet. You
can come and get whatever you need for free. We
also have a lamp program, arts and media program.
Speaker 4 (07:11):
With the youth. They make videos.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
They have a web series that's done tens and thousands
of views on YouTube. And we really just promote having
a supportive community because we feel like that's what people
need the most.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
Yeah, that's amazing.
Speaker 3 (07:26):
So please support the non Okay, the nonprofits. You know,
we're trying to support the community.
Speaker 4 (07:32):
Help you.
Speaker 3 (07:33):
You know, Legacy re Entry Foundation. You guys can find
us anywhere. Legacy Entry Foundation dot org is our full website,
but you can search us on ig, Facebook, TikTok. We
are all over the place and we're always looking for
people to come and volunteer. And just tell you know,
if you don't know how to donate, the cheapest thing
you can do is let somebody know.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
That's I'm telling you. It's free.
Speaker 4 (07:55):
Okay, that's free. They ain't gonna cost you nothing.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
It ain't gonna cost you nothing. And and Rob, I'm
gonna get all in your business.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
I'm gonna get all your business because I think that
the real need to know all these great things that
you got going on. And I'm glad to have you
on the show because you you comes out and you
do such an amazing job. No matter what you're going through,
no matter how you feel, you still keep up great.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
You present yourself well, you know, you keep a great smile.
You smile all through the forever greatfulward. It looked like
your feet was hurting and you were still smiling. But
you know, let's let's let's dig a little bit into
winning all these awards.
Speaker 1 (08:33):
Now. When you took home in twenty twenty three, took.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
Home award, you know, we had a big shouts of
the three one two awards.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
Let's kind of talk.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
About the the first award, Robin Warren, how did you feel?
Speaker 5 (08:49):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (08:49):
I was, because I know you was like, wow, they
throwing awardsgo that was already up top.
Speaker 3 (08:55):
But to win, man, it was crazy. I yes one again.
Shout out to three and two a ward Chicago Cultural Arts.
Thank you for even noticing me. But I was I
didn't even know I had got nominated. Somebody sent me
a message like you got nominated for this Chicago Award.
Speaker 4 (09:14):
I was like, oh, okay, like that's what's up. So
I go.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
I see and it was a lot of amazing people
on that list to like other independent media as well.
So I was like, okay, like it's some heavy hitters
on here. I didn't even expect to win. Honestly, I
really did not.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
I was was on it. And this is true because
you didn't even know you dominated.
Speaker 4 (09:36):
I didn't know.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
So once I found out, you know, I let people know,
asked them to vote for me, ask for my fans
to vote other people that I had on the show.
Speaker 4 (09:45):
I kid you not.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
When we when I went to the award show that night,
I was upstairs getting food because I just knew, like
somebody else, you know, I'm just happy to be here.
I was trying to get some hibachi. They had a
little hibachi set up.
Speaker 4 (09:57):
It was real okay, you.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
Know, So I was trying to get that. I had
paid for the food and everything. So I was waiting.
Then they said pillow Talk podcast and shot out to
my bro law facts in Law, alcah Law. He was
the one that announced me winning and we locked in
after that. But they announced me and I cried. I
cried and ran to the stage and I just was
in shock, like, thank you so much, Chicago, for real.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
All glory to God.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
I want to get that around and play without for
a million people because I'm gonna tell you something. I'm
gonna tell you what one thing I know about God
is what he got for you nobody could take away.
And once you work hard for it. The Bible says
hard work pays off when you work hard and you
have fun and not letting it be so stressful.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
You know.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
Uh, that's when you start getting the calls you want
this or you want that, because a lot of people
scretching out over things that they shouldn't be scratching out over,
you know. So if you even watching it, you stretching
out over your man yo yo yah, your girlfriend, what
they doing. Let people be them and understand that you're
important too. So don't allow people to run over you.
(11:04):
Don't allow people to treat you like you ain't who
you are. You know, you gotta look in the mirror
sometimes trying to take a little patient look in the
mirror and see who you are. You got one life
to live, you know, and if you ain't here to live,
at life.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
Then you know other people will be living theirs.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
So sometimes you gotta slow down and make time for
yourself through the day on stretch out for what you
ain't got.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
Be thankful that you're here. You know.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
I was just telling my man yesterday that you know,
the wisdom that we're shaying is more viable than money,
because people think the money is the biggest tool in
the real But I've seen the dummy with money and
he had a lossuit for a million dollars. Nigga was
(11:54):
broken six months because because he had all dummies around him,
you know. And if I was around, I would I
would have schooled them and showed them things.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
Hey, you need to invest in this and that.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
But a lot of people, let's just let's just bag
back a little bit. A lot of people need to
focus on theyself sometime. Stop taking the day out Russian.
Stop running so much people, because on my spirit to
tell some people right now that is twenty four hours
in the day, you know, stop running so much. And
that job you working, if it ain't meant for you,
(12:26):
quit it, you know, spend some time with God, get
to know God some more, because that's who gonna uplift
you and take you to the next level.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
I just want to start that. It was just so
much spirit to speak on that.
Speaker 6 (12:40):
And Robbie, wait, wait wait, wait wait wait, we got
Vita just called it. We got Vita just called in
and Robbie, that was an amazing story of how you
just broke that down.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
And it was just on my heart to speak to
the people and let them know that it is the
highest power, because it's on my spirits.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
Somebody watching, right, don't commit suicide.
Speaker 2 (13:03):
Don't commit suicide, don't kill yourself, don't hurt yourself, don't
don't hurt that man who ain't come in last night.
Don't style because you'll go to jail for sure, you know.
And and I like to talk to the people and
let him know because some people ain't got people to
tell them what's right, and they make the wrong this decision,
it's a man right now behind bars for life. And
(13:25):
he still could have been a good guy, but he
made the wrong decision. I got to spend the rest
of his life in jail. So it's it's really time
to just sit down and think before we even you know,
carry on, But robbi E, let's get back to robbing E.
Let's get back to Robin E. You're not just one
at the three one two, you one at the Forever
(13:48):
Grateful Awards too. And I want to ask you personally
because I know for sure you ain't know that you
was even nominated no and coming home in twenty twenty
three with a ward, then coming back home twenty twenty
four the next year, not expecting it, not even understanding
(14:10):
what happened.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
That's the way God worked.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
He come unexpected to come back and be nominated like
four most times that the Faver Grateful Awards, and then
when off votes, this one no favorite hand pick.
Speaker 1 (14:25):
I got paperwork. Everybody who came to the Father Grateful
Awards has.
Speaker 2 (14:29):
Seen the votes you had, over one thousand votes of
people seeing your hard work.
Speaker 1 (14:38):
Sometimes they hide too. Don't worry about the lives and
stuff that they had.
Speaker 2 (14:41):
And you know they you know what I call the
people that's had all the time.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
They shot, they just shot.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
Don't worry about it even though what they even when
they shot, they need to they still hear. Twenty twenty four,
you turn right back around and win another award. What
would your thoughts on being nominated four times the fab Grateful.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
Ward definitely grateful, look grateful, super grateful. Didn't expect that either,
so that was like a shot to me as well
to get nominated again, but for a few different categories.
So I'm just grateful. I just love that people are supporting.
I try to support however I can support, So please
know it's reciprocated however it can be reciprocated. But I
(15:23):
was grateful, just very grateful for real.
Speaker 2 (15:26):
It is, you know what your media game off the
chain and people can't take away greatness. So when you
start seeing people nominated in a different category and you
see them nominated in the media shots to all the
people in the media school, yes you know, ain't no
wing wrong going to media school because you learned so much.
It's a great thing. And you also learned a lot
through the Holy Spirit. I learned a lot from the
(15:48):
Holy Spirit, you know, having my own show and one
on Siste point three, you know, just coming out the
blue and people like Jesus, hey do that. You know,
it just show you what God all things is possible.
And that's why I want to bring you with Robi e.
Well she doing it off fate. Everything you're doing and
(16:08):
you in expecting none of the greatness that come behind you.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
Just doing it because you love to do it.
Speaker 4 (16:14):
Yes, absolutely, because.
Speaker 1 (16:16):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (16:17):
Okay, Now, before we completely, before we finish this interview off,
we got a vto on the phone. I don't want
to keep you long since it sounds like you're ready
going on in the club. Y'all know how we get
it popping y'all V on the VT on the line, y'all, come.
Speaker 1 (16:38):
On on Intellection Radio. We can get you good. We
had a little win behind you, but it's it sound
good okay, because.
Speaker 7 (17:00):
What she won at the three one two Awards, that
was my first saf around but I wasn't in media yet.
But after that I started looking at what she was
doing on online and stuff like that, and I just
want to say, congratulations.
Speaker 3 (17:14):
You.
Speaker 7 (17:18):
Professional, you challenged. I mean, I understand why that you
have been winning. You know, I loved your content. I
just loved how you how you you creative with what
you do. I even loved I remember you were teaching
and uh teaching young kids and stuff like that. So
(17:40):
I was excited when I heard that you were coming
on to be interviewed. So I have been watching, so
congratulations on everything that you have done and continue to
do much.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
I love you. Thank you so much. Oh, I love you,
thank you so much.
Speaker 7 (17:57):
I love you too. I watched people and and you
know what, I love you have always been very approachable
at nice in many so many women that against each other.
And I'm gonna tell you, I don't. I don't beautiful.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
She showed down. She's gonna tell you she's a man.
She gonna tell me there, gonna tell you.
Speaker 7 (18:28):
I love going.
Speaker 4 (18:30):
I'm so proud of you.
Speaker 3 (18:32):
I love you so much. Thank you so much for that.
That means so much to me. For really you have
another black woman you know too, immediate like that.
Speaker 4 (18:39):
That means so much.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
Chelice, thank you.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
And one thing, you know, I want to get that
around applause real because you know what one thing I've
learned about Robin E.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
She gonna thank you from the heart.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
Because you know, a lot of people that's in this industry,
they don't want to acknowledge greatness. They don't want to
see another person winning. So much competition, you know what
I'm saying, it's so much competition. But when God put
people together, just understand that He do it for a reason,
you know, and for you to acknowledge another black woman.
And you know, it's so hard for a woman just
to acknowledge another black woman, especially doing the same thing
(19:17):
they do, you know, And I agree one hundred percent
of you. I think that she you know, as a man,
I think that she do amazing at.
Speaker 1 (19:25):
What you do. And it started off just uh.
Speaker 2 (19:28):
People, people don't understand that people be voting and and
you never know who watching.
Speaker 1 (19:36):
People be voting. Oh well, I'm a I'm a I.
Speaker 2 (19:40):
Promise you, and I'm a CEO, and I'm put this
camera right here on me too, Robin. Real quick, I
want you all to hear the ones that's hiding right now,
the ones that's hiding behind the live I promise, I'm
a CEO. Over one thousand people has voted for Robbie
in the media radio to win that award, and she
(20:02):
took it home.
Speaker 1 (20:05):
But I'm gonna tell you the Bible says hard work
pays off.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
So if you at home laying up all day, get
up and try some different, try some different. Sometimes don't
eat the same food, you know, do something different.
Speaker 1 (20:25):
That's all I want to say.
Speaker 2 (20:28):
Okay, no, no, you know what, ain't nothing wrong with it,
because at the end of the day. At the end
of the day, you work hard for what you you
work hard for a robin. You work hard for everything,
and you took you took your your talent to another level,
and you took your everything you did. You took serious
and people see the serious in what you do and
you have fun with it and you make it look easy.
(20:50):
But sometimes it's not either because we easy, because we
still got to live a real life, and sometimes people
around us try to bring us down. Sometimes it looked
like it ain't gonna work. Sometimes it look like you
want to give up. Sometimes you just want to quit
and say skip life. Absolutely, but you got to think about.
Speaker 1 (21:08):
The bigger pictures. God.
Speaker 2 (21:09):
God is involved, and God is playing a big part
in everything you're doing.
Speaker 1 (21:13):
I'm sorry for you to go ahead.
Speaker 7 (21:15):
That's okay, but I want to say too, I know
it would be difficult, uh and the answer, and I
just want to encourage you to keep going. I see
you on TV. I see you as a whatever you
want to do a media I can see you doing
it and I know it could get tiring. They could
get because some people will pull you down even if
(21:35):
you're a beautiful just a beautiful person. Sometimes you got
people that's intimidated that ass, and they will, you know,
do everything to try to, you know, bring you down.
But I want to encourage you to keep going and
like you said, for God first, and just keep going
with your talent and don't worry about other people because
I know sometimes they could be draining, you know. But
(21:59):
I you said, but I just see you. I just
feel the same.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
I mean, she though.
Speaker 7 (22:08):
Like that, you know, being a journalist, I can see
that on you. So you just keep persevering, and he mean.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
I agree, I want to get that around the plow.
Speaker 3 (22:19):
Thank you so much. I love you so much for
that for real, Thank you so much. Thank you for
your time, words, your genuine words, to genuine words.
Speaker 1 (22:28):
And just going forward. Beta. Let's let's get a couple.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
Of questions in because we ain't trying to make Rob
beaucause Rob, you know, we were giving her real flowers
here now and you know what's up, you know, And
I just feel like the time still ticking and I
just kind of want.
Speaker 1 (22:42):
To flicker a little bit, right What kind of questions
you got for me for Robbing?
Speaker 2 (22:48):
Before I start, what kind of questions you got for
because I'm ready to ask us for questions real quick.
Speaker 7 (22:54):
Well, I would like to know what started you on
this journey as a school for media and all that.
What inspired you to do that?
Speaker 4 (23:07):
Definitely?
Speaker 3 (23:08):
Man, you know, I got a definitely shout out the
talk show era for one. You know, I'm a nineties baby,
I mean, you know, so I was watching a lot
of reruns, you know, in the early two thousands of
Ricky Lake.
Speaker 4 (23:21):
And all of that.
Speaker 3 (23:22):
But when I got to college, actually and I did
the campus news, I was when I did my freshman year,
I was the only black girl on the newscast. Wow.
And every semester you have to try out, so I
have to try out and get on there. And the
first two years, my freshman year and my sophomore year,
I was the only black girl on the newscast.
Speaker 7 (23:42):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (23:42):
After that, they've got a black girl to do the weather,
and then they slowly built it up. But they would
always question me about like what my hair was, like,
the things I wore. Whenever we had meetings on pitching topics,
any topic I had for black and brown always got
thrown out. So I was like, is this what it's
(24:02):
gonna be like? You know if I go to you know,
these other news platforms. Are they gonna censor me to
be something that's not authentic to myself.
Speaker 4 (24:11):
So that always stayed with me.
Speaker 3 (24:13):
And you know, I learned the skills and the tools
so that I could be a blogger. And once I
left college, I did make the decision not to intern somewhere,
which at the time I regretted, but now I feel
like that was the best decision I made because that
would have stifled my creativity. I wouldn't have been able
to make a platform, you know, And that's what I did.
(24:36):
I made a platform on my phone when Anchor first started.
But it really pinned from me wanting to talk about
black news, black stories, things that you know, related directly
to me, and not be censored for it.
Speaker 4 (24:49):
So that was the basis that.
Speaker 7 (24:53):
We have social media. That's one of the things that
I do like because you can create your own lane.
They came back from it, that's right. So they do
make it hard the truth for black media personality. If
you see the hard it is for black media now
to get on a level as A and as CMZ,
(25:19):
and you know they have to, yes, so congratu.
Speaker 1 (25:25):
Yes, I want to get around for that.
Speaker 4 (25:27):
But it's it's you. She said it on the head.
Speaker 3 (25:29):
It's so hard, it's they make it hard for you
to do it.
Speaker 1 (25:33):
And the first black woman, and.
Speaker 3 (25:35):
And another thing like I try to strive on not
necessarily being toxic and you know, being ratchet and down
and other people. You know, I might crack a few
jokes here and there, but I never let people come
on my show and bash people. I never bash anybody
directly because to me, that's whack. You know, that's whack.
But that's also what they want us to be. They
(25:57):
want us to be this type of stereotype, so they
can say why we don't deserve the respect. But you're
gonna give me respect because I earned it and I
present myself as such. But that's another thing too, you know,
having a positive black platform that's not built on toxicity.
Speaker 2 (26:13):
I agree one hundred percent. And you know what, I
want to dig a little bit in your business. Yeah,
I wouldn't get a little bit in your business, shoot.
Speaker 1 (26:21):
But I love Robbie and just grew up well what
let's just start him. Where did Robbie grow up at?
Speaker 4 (26:28):
Walking in?
Speaker 1 (26:30):
Walk shout out to walk.
Speaker 4 (26:31):
Ken and raised.
Speaker 2 (26:34):
Now being raised to walking in because I only been
there twice.
Speaker 1 (26:38):
That wasn't it out there? Us staying out there and
with your parents together?
Speaker 4 (26:42):
After Yeah, my dad's from Chicago.
Speaker 3 (26:45):
He from my south side, west side, so he moved
to Lake County.
Speaker 4 (26:49):
He was like a drug counselor. Met my mom.
Speaker 3 (26:52):
She was doing like physical therapy, so then they got together.
But walking in Lake County used to be like lit
growing up for the for those that don't know, we
right by Gurnee, you know, I gotta get like six
flags we like right.
Speaker 4 (27:05):
There where we're at. But it was really fun.
Speaker 3 (27:10):
We had a lot of youth things to do, so
I feel like I had.
Speaker 4 (27:13):
A great childhood.
Speaker 3 (27:14):
I was very much involved with other kids doing activities.
I was in journalism club, yearbook club, I did palms, cheerleading,
like I definitely everything. I did everything possible as a kid,
you know, so I loved it.
Speaker 1 (27:31):
That's a blessing. I got one more when you come
on in while you thinking.
Speaker 2 (27:37):
First of all, in a revealed magazine speaking of mom
and dad, man.
Speaker 4 (27:42):
So crazy, y'all. I cannot believe they.
Speaker 2 (27:46):
Also in the revealed magazine mom and Dad, and I
promise she.
Speaker 1 (27:50):
Looked like both of them.
Speaker 4 (27:51):
That's so beautiful.
Speaker 1 (27:52):
My mom and dad.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
And you know, I want to get on on on
another note as well. You know you have had your
dad growing up in your life, you know, and I
know you're used to your mom and dad, you know,
growing up in Walkkegen coming to Chicago, your dad from Chicago,
coming to Chicago. I always seen you brag about your dad,
(28:15):
how amazed he is.
Speaker 1 (28:16):
Y'all look alike.
Speaker 2 (28:17):
But I want to say, Michael, donus to your dad.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
You know.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
Robbie, yeah, you know she lost her dad this year
and Robbie he still standing strong, but kind of talk about, uh,
you know, kind of talk about a little bit to
to to uplift somebody else that's going through right now
that lost somebody they love. And people don't know how
how how it feels to keep going when you lose,
because sometimes you know, I don't me as a man
(28:47):
of God, I want to say lose because it's like
in the spiritual real you can't see them protecting you
or being right there with you.
Speaker 1 (28:55):
But have a dream.
Speaker 2 (28:57):
Have you ever woke up out of a dream and said,
oh my god, it look the real. But if somebody
didn't wake up out our dream, you know, Jesus called
it deep sleep.
Speaker 1 (29:05):
You know, deep sleep is just like a person just
ain't wake up.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
From a dream. So you know, losing your dad, it's
not a loss. So that's the really thing. By having
your dad as an angel right here with Robbie E
that's in the Rapeville magazine, that's finna blow up big
and do so many great, incredible things, and so happy
to have you on the show knowing that it's finna
(29:30):
happen and your dad's still an angel right there with you,
even if you want to see him or not in
having your mother next to him in the revealed magazine
looking amazing. Let's kind of talk about it a little bit, Robbie,
Let's kind of talk about it. Let's just kind of
talk about how important was it having your dad and
(29:53):
your life growing up before we start off speaking to
anything else, because a lot of people don't understand having
a daddy plays a big part.
Speaker 1 (30:01):
In the daughter's life.
Speaker 2 (30:03):
Absolutely so having your daddy growing up, because I see
you look amazing with your mom having your daddy growing up.
First of all, how was that experience growing up having
a dead Because some people, like I said, said I
told my sister she's a single mother, that took care
of five kids by herself, you know, and and and
some of my nephews and nieces. You know, sometime they
(30:24):
could get out of hand. But I'm gonna tell you
one thing. That's when uncle come in and try to talk.
Speaker 1 (30:30):
You know what I'm saying. But it ain't nothing like
having a.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
Dead yeah, kind of talk to us about a little
bit how important.
Speaker 1 (30:38):
It was for you, Robbie having your daddy your life.
Speaker 3 (30:40):
Oh god, yeah, definitely a daddy's girl. My dad is
the reason why I do media. He from a little kid.
My dad used to make me watch movies with him
because he felt like I could understand what was going
on when I was very young. Like one of my
favorite movies is His Gump, that was what Okay, and
(31:03):
the Original Wizard of Oz. But he always just instilled
in me the beauty of storytelling and that has always
been a big pillar for me to be who I am.
Like I enjoy that depth. But he also taught me
how to cook, you know. He taught me how to
be assertive. My dad was a great cook. He cooked everything.
He cooked for us every day. He cooked Sunday dinner
(31:26):
for us, probably until maybe the last like six years.
He stopped because he was older, but he was a
very devoted dad.
Speaker 4 (31:33):
You know. He made sure that he was in my
life every day.
Speaker 3 (31:37):
He was on my neck, you know, because he wanted
me to be better than good.
Speaker 4 (31:41):
He wanted me to be great.
Speaker 3 (31:44):
And I feel like that has always been a driving
force for me and why I work so hard while
my work ethic is like this because my dad instilled
it in me.
Speaker 4 (31:52):
I couldn't even get seas when I was growing up.
Speaker 3 (31:55):
I had to get b's and a's in school because
he said, you are above average, you're better than average.
So having somebody he was, my dad always believed that
I was great. And I remember even.
Speaker 4 (32:13):
I remember.
Speaker 1 (32:16):
It's okay.
Speaker 3 (32:18):
When I was starting out and you know, I wasn't
getting paid for stuff, and I was like living with
my parents, you know, and I was like frustrated, like
why am I not getting booked? Like what's going on?
Like what is it? And my dad and my mom
they sat me down. My dad was like, your time
is coming. You gotta pay your dues right now. You
(32:41):
gotta put the work in, but your time is coming.
He saw all of this before I even knew it
was gonna happen, and just knowing that he believed in me,
then he just gave me so much hope. I had
to teach my dad what podcasting was, you know, he
didn't even know what it was. So once I saw
(33:01):
him and he saw what was happening, he was like, oh, yeah, yeah,
you got it, whatever it is. So just you know,
for kids out there, parents out there, specifically, like make
sure you're pouring into your kids passion because you never
know where that's gonna take them, you know what I'm saying.
I took that passion and I graduated high school, I
went to college and got a degree in it, and
(33:23):
then I wanted a damn award, you know, doing media
like crazy, you know, and I really I just have
to thank both my parents, but my dad, you know,
for just really being on my neck because he's gonna leave.
He knew that I wasn't gonna fall under pressure. He said,
I built you this way.
Speaker 1 (33:44):
Geez.
Speaker 3 (33:45):
So my mom is actually watching right now, so yeah,
shout out tomorrow. She's a big supporter of course, put
us put you out in the magazine.
Speaker 1 (34:02):
An all glory to God. Mom, Thank you so much
for tuning in.
Speaker 2 (34:06):
You tuning in at the right time because it's definitely
getting real and y'all also on the Reveal magazine as well,
Robin just growing up.
Speaker 1 (34:16):
It's a lot of it's it's a lot.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
Of kids that's doing different things out hang the real
right now today right And do you think if it
wasn't for your dad being so supportive and being in
your life and showing you so much, where you think
you would be at where you are today right now
(34:39):
with that hope that faith and words and the Bible
says words is powerful. But the how your dad is
so supportive of giving you the ords because people don't
understand how important words is. Ords is more important than money.
Because I'm telling you something. One thing you're gonna do
is remember what somebody told you, especially a daddy. So
(35:04):
do you you you grew up remembering even when you
went to college, you you kept them words in you
that your daddy was live in to you.
Speaker 1 (35:13):
So I want to tell all the parents out there
right now, whether.
Speaker 2 (35:15):
You with with with your baby mama or not. And
you are you a single mama. I'm gonna tell you this,
You could be a single mama, but allow your daddy.
A lot of them kids diaddy come in their life. Yes,
allow them kids to have they did in their life,
and they'll be so strict on child support trying to
knock them down. Let them give them a try. If
he ain't never tried in thirty years. Allow that baby
(35:38):
to see her daddy because she's gonna need him and
he gonna need him. We see why this real is
so corrupt and wicked. A lot of a lot of
a lot of kids is growing up without their daddy,
and and a lot of and a lot of women
they they they they they letting their daddy.
Speaker 7 (35:57):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (35:58):
They was in love with the daddy and they broke up,
and now they bashing the diddy, making it Diddy look
like he's so bad and so worse. Listen, if you
like that, think about your kids. Take yourself out of
the relationship that you had with them, Take yourself out
of it. Don't even think about you no more at
this point, Think about them kids, every kid. Did you
(36:20):
just hear Robin's story, And I got a story for
you too. I lost a daddy is seventeen years old.
And when I lost the daddy is seventeen years old.
I had a lot of weight on my back. I
had to be a daddy to my little brothers. I
had to you know, I ain't even know how.
Speaker 1 (36:33):
To be a diddy. I got a book out cost
survived through the storm. You know.
Speaker 2 (36:37):
I had to come through it and get taught by
the Holy Spirit. I had to allow the Lord to
teach me. I had to go from the West side
of Chicago to a suburbs to get a house, to
see what a peace at, to allow myself to be
peaceful and be at a teacher on another level, tell
my brother and them, to tell them what not to
do and what to do. Kids need, they did, he
(36:58):
especially girls growing up, They need their daddies in their life.
So I just want to acknowledge you know what I'm
saying that make sure I'll to your dad just.
Speaker 1 (37:07):
Being in your mom watching.
Speaker 2 (37:09):
I'm sorry in your mom watching, but you know, just
having that dad that hear story, having that great dad.
The meaning of having a great dad, which is he
He didn't have to buy you a Bentley, but those
rads sage of life and got you here today.
Speaker 6 (37:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (37:25):
Quality time being with your kids, man, quality time. You know,
he battled a lot of things and I never ever
hated him for it because He was such an active
dad that I couldn't I couldn't hate him for nothing,
you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (37:41):
He, like I said, was there every day of my life.
Speaker 3 (37:45):
He's been a part of every milestone ever happened, when
I graduated, high school, college, everything. So just being there.
You know, you don't have to have money, you don't
have to be rich. My daddy was not rich. We
was broke a lot of the time, actually, but he knew,
he knew how to make us feel like we was rich,
you know, So be present.
Speaker 4 (38:06):
I just be present with your kids. Definitely.
Speaker 1 (38:10):
I love that. Vita, you're still here. Okay, she's watched, but.
Speaker 2 (38:17):
Okay, because I was talking to go on with the
next question. Now, okay, so give us one minute. What

Speaker 1 (38:34):
Well when we come back.
Speaker 2 (38:35):
Vita got amazing, uh crazy two story going on right now.
We're gonna talk about the story right here on Intellectual Radio.
Speaker 1 (38:43):
Okay, yes, we'll be right back on intellectual.
Speaker 5 (38:46):

Speaker 3 (40:23):

lights and say let's get this right.
Speaker 4 (40:30):
I gotta have yourself. They get rid of that fight. I
want to marry you for every baby right.
Speaker 3 (40:36):
I have to make a Macacie, but just my tight Okay,

Speaker 1 (40:42):

Speaker 2 (41:09):
Okay, Okay, look look now it's okay, it's okay. We're
gonna come back in right now and you come on
with the stories and everything.
Speaker 1 (41:15):
That's going on right now. Okay, all right, hey, hey,
hey hey, we're back right.
Speaker 2 (41:22):
Here on Intellectual Radio. I am your host, born rich
and I got my co host in the building with
where she ain't in the building, but she online because
but it feels like she's in the building. Miss tell
him your name? Yeah, hey man, And you know what,
(41:45):
she's definitely right about that.
Speaker 1 (41:46):
She always bring good energy.
Speaker 2 (41:48):
Also, we got our special special guests in the building Ms.
Speaker 1 (41:53):
Robin E. And she's still here with us, uh tonight.
Speaker 2 (41:57):
And you know, I just want to touch based on
a couple of things real quick. People, if you if
you got your mom and dad and your life, appreciate them.
Speaker 1 (42:06):
If they got if they're in that same household, appreciate that.
Speaker 2 (42:10):
If you see them against each other or arguing against
each other and you don't know what to do just say, mom.
Speaker 1 (42:15):
Hold dead hand, dead hold my hand. Just do do
some kid things.
Speaker 2 (42:20):
Don't get too much and deep in their business, but
just do something to try to make your parents be together.
Because here and Robin E's story is, it's just so
touchy and I can relate off it, you know, losing
a dad at seventeen.
Speaker 1 (42:33):
But Vida, we got we got some some some some
breaking news in Chicago. We know the we know that
we know them people what they called the ices.
Speaker 2 (42:45):
They ain't been teening up, snatching people at the cors
and they don't get they ain't got no type of
fail like they didn't worry about nothing. But you got
some news to sell with us right now.
Speaker 7 (43:01):
Us how they're going. And I feel like this as
far as I they're not really his They might you know,
be taking. But they also harassed the black people on
the street, saying a ninety ye old boy that them
there good boys, not you know, a street kid even
just coming at the store. It's just ridiculous. But I
(43:21):
see certain people places like voters, Protestants.
Speaker 3 (43:26):
It's different.
Speaker 7 (43:26):
People keeps keeping them out of it. But yeah, I
excrete you. But yeah, it's been a couple of stories
that I've been saying, I'm sure you are probably heard
of saying I'm sure because I know robins do a
lot of content all the time.
Speaker 4 (43:40):
Yes, I say, I normally do not.
Speaker 7 (43:42):
Talk about pastors like that because I was picking me
in with my God and sometimes you know, we all
have our off dame. But I've seen a story about
past mission Marbra Wayans when a lady came up. They
had a iron going for the offering hands, and so
(44:03):
she came up and brought a thousand dollars of seeding
and someone had so two hundred and thirty fast, all right,
So what he didn't want to he He's like, how
to answer for this? This is not what I ask for, y'all?
Kind to go and look at the cliffs. He embarrassed
that lady so bad, and you know, it's been all
(44:26):
the story everywhere. He even went and did an interview
talking about it. The lady did an interview talking about
it that he didn't review plung he corrected herself. Now
I understand all of that. I just feel like this
is not old days, you know, and everything is on
social media, so I feel like they have to be
wise and how they conduct their visit because everybody's reporting
(44:48):
everything down there. So he said, yeah, he needed he
needed to have got off the mic and maybe talk
to her because they when you look at the whole thing,
you feel a little bit more. But she still.
Speaker 1 (45:01):
M m.
Speaker 4 (45:10):
Yes, that's crazy. I saw some of it.
Speaker 3 (45:16):
Yeah, I saw some of the clips that was going around,
and yeah, I think it's crazy. And as somebody that's
doesn't like go to church regularly, that makes me question
what what be going on in church?
Speaker 4 (45:32):
Like is this is this what happens in church?
Speaker 1 (45:35):
Are we?
Speaker 3 (45:36):
Yeah? Like putting people on blasts because the donation ain't
what it's supposed to be. So I don't know, Like
you said, the way he went about it was wrong.
Speaker 2 (45:45):
Yeah, and you know, and you know what I want
to I want to I want to tell some people
out there like it's good, Like okay, so when I
let me, let me not start that.
Speaker 1 (45:59):
Let me just tell you this.
Speaker 2 (46:00):
It's like it's good to have a good home church
that you could really trust God and trust the pastor
and not be mislaided, laid it or anfrused, you know,
cause it's real and everybody will get that day, you know,
no matter if you know it's yes, it's some pastors.
And there's some people that pray for everything they want,
(46:22):
but when they get it, they feel like they don't
need God no more, you know, and they take away
the real power, you know what I'm saying. So that's
just the national power kicks in and you start doing
normal things like I went into church one day. Ain't
gonna lie I went to church one day. I ain't
gonna name it what church I went in, but Robin,
I walked into church. I ain't been in a minute.
(46:44):
I came back and the past say, hey, what they
doing walking out the dough y'all don't leave hold up,
pay your task first, and they guys start walking up
with masks on.
Speaker 1 (46:55):
Hold up.
Speaker 2 (46:56):
But see, my thing is you got to allow people
to give from their heart because that's the way you're
gonna be blessed, you know.
Speaker 1 (47:05):
What I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (47:05):
So so so people be confrused by church nowadays, like man, dude,
should I trust God?
Speaker 1 (47:11):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (47:11):
You should trust for real? Just go to the white church.
It ain't you know, some some people is a money
grab and it's you know, they learned God where they
studied it, not saying they on no them but they
gonna have they own time with God. But for now,
(47:32):
keep believing and trusting. You know, even if you gotta
go to another church, don't stop believing. Try to be
a Winston because when I came down change, God changed
my life, you know what I'm saying. Like, and that
ain't perfect. Like I came from the West Side Chicago.
I came from the hood. And I don't brag on
the hood. I don't breag on all of these things.
But I came from places that people never made it
(47:54):
out of. You know what, well, you know what they say,
we would never be none. You know my mom, you know,
raising us in the house on superior seven kids. We
got to sleep in bump beds. You know, my daddy
having a main woman and having my mama as a
second woman. I seen this, you see what I'm saying,
(48:14):
And I've seen a lot.
Speaker 1 (48:15):
Of more things.
Speaker 2 (48:15):
But it made me appreciate women more, appreciate people more when.
Speaker 1 (48:21):
I found God.
Speaker 2 (48:23):
Because when I looked at it, I hadn't seen my
daddy beat my mom you growing up, and it showed
me not to never put my hand on a woman.
See what I'm saying, So don't keep people and I
love talking to the people. I thank God for the
platforms allow us to talk to the people.
Speaker 1 (48:39):
People. Don't keep making the scrucius. My mom taught me
this way.
Speaker 2 (48:44):
My daddy was against her, my uncle was against her.
Don't be against her because I guarantee you don't want
to spend the rest of your life in jail. And
it's a lot of people. A lot of kids ain't
living their life at fifteen years old getting killed. You know,
you're doing everything your uncle. You heard your uncle did
in the nineties. It's time for a change, That's all
I'm saying. It's time for a change. It's time for growth.
(49:05):
To people, we gotta grow, and we gotta grow together.
We gotta have these conversations. You know what I'm saying,
Pillow talking, think big. You know what I'm saying. We
gotta have these commisation. It's called growth. Stop putting your
whole life on social media, people, growth, growth, Growth will
help you understand what you should not be doing. If
(49:28):
you could need somebody talk about talk to about something,
like Robins said when you first came in the show,
have somebody.
Speaker 8 (49:35):
That you can trust, Definitely, definitely, you know, you know
somebody was like don't go to church.
Speaker 7 (49:52):
But I said, sometimes you know you can, because I've
never heard anything a balance before.
Speaker 8 (50:01):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (50:02):
And I know sometimes people come up clips to make
something worse than what it is, you know, just the
social media error. They won't they won't clap the you know,
they want to make a big deal out of everything.
But I say, you know, give people breaks, make sure
you pray for your leaders, you know, and stuff like that,
(50:23):
you know, because they deserve or break sometimes y'all. Now,
I'm not saying people live in a sinful life. I
ain't talk of living in sin, but I'm saying sometimes
our attitude can't be existed for some things. But I
do believe in praying for your leadership. I ain't gonna
leave church. And I see you know little so that's
(50:43):
the first thing they say, because you will go to
work and you will deal with all kind of crazy
stuff they do some jobs. Know, so sometimes we real
paces with with the wrong people. So and that's not
like I said, give excuses for like just living in
saying they said sometimes they see people to do something
they want to crucis bat in right away. And I
(51:05):
think that you know, just right for people.
Speaker 1 (51:07):
But they they crucis in man, I ain't gonna laugh
and crucify Jesus. M.
Speaker 2 (51:13):
Look, before before we end the show, I wanna ask
rob I I wanna ask Robin two a couple more questions,
real real fast.
Speaker 1 (51:22):
The while we got you on the line, just ask
another question over the why you why you on line?
Speaker 3 (51:26):
Real quick?
Speaker 1 (51:27):
Since you.
Speaker 7 (51:30):
Lady or the young black lady, I would like for
you to tell other aspiring journalist uh young black women
that that desires to be in this uh career, cause
you've been doing it for a while now, some good
and then some good tips what to stay away from
and what to What have you learned to stay away
(51:51):
from and what things have you learned to applan to
make yourself even better at what you're doing, because I
feel like in the entertainment industry.
Speaker 2 (52:00):
A lot of them.
Speaker 7 (52:04):
So tips on what you've.
Speaker 4 (52:07):
Learned, Yes, so.
Speaker 3 (52:11):
Industry, Yeah, definitely Yeah. I have been doing it for
a while and it's definitely been some ups and downs.
M I will say the the top a tip I
can give is consistency. Yes, you know you're gonna have
days where maybe you go viral. I just went viral
actually on Instagram, which all all the years I've been
(52:34):
on Instagram, that's never happened to me, right, never ever
ever happened. But I consistently post on Instagram. So it
just lined up where now I was able to go
get six hundred thousand views on the video.
Speaker 4 (52:47):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (52:49):
But it's the consistency, it's the preparation that leads to that.
So I do wanna say the number one thing is
definitely consistency. Make sure that you are consistent. Do not
phixiate on the numbers, because the supporters, the fans, the views,
they will come over time. People want to buy into
a brand, and they want to buy into credibility. If
(53:11):
you are trying to build credibility and you're not consistent,
you fall short. So work on trying to be consistent
in whatever it is that you do so that your
credibility is valid. For one, that's the top thing, you know.
The second thing is figure out what your lane is,
because it's really easy to feel like you gotta be
somebody else right now. It's really easy to feel like
(53:34):
if I do this, then people gonna like me. If
I act like so and so, if I add this
into my routine, they gonna like me. You might could
do it once or twice, but you're gonna run out
of material because that person that you got it from,
they don't change. They don't figure out something else to
do that's authentic to their brand. Now you're sitting there
stuck because you never figured out what was authentic to you.
(53:55):
So I will say, figure out what your brand is
like I emphasize, I don't. I don't thrive on toxicty.
So there's certain things that I will turn down. There's
opportunities I've turned down before because I felt like it
wasn't for me. Yes, and in order for me to
stay authentic, I gotta do what's meant for me. If
it starts to sway me and sway my spirit, I
(54:15):
probably shouldn't do it. So I'm not even gonna put
myself in that. So stay authentic, y'all. The worst thing
I can say is thinking that everybody's your friend woo,
and you're gonna meet genuine people. Don't get me wrong.
You know you're gonna meet genuine people. Don't get me wrong.
(54:36):
You are gonna come across people that are gonna do
right by you, and you're gonna be able to tell it,
but everybody is not your friend just because they shake
your hand and they bring you in a room. They
don't have the best interest for you all the time.
So learn your self awareness, learn how far you're willing
to go and build friendships in media, and then decide
who's a friend, who's an ally, and who's just a
(54:57):
business you know, partner. You can have people that you
you just do business with, and that's okay, but you
got to remember that this is always business.
Speaker 2 (55:06):
Never personally understand it, because once you're starting to understand it,
you starting to put people different you. Okay, So I
got seven brothers, four sisters and three brothers. Wait, tullttle
brothers and fastest damn how many kids?
Speaker 1 (55:19):
My mom? Get? Hold up? You know what? Four sisters
on my mama's side. Three she don't.
Speaker 2 (55:29):
That's look, that's the reason why I had three verse
But my whole thing is every single one of them
is different, but we are the same. We mean the
same thing. We gotta go hard, but everybody different, right,
And I just want to start that off what you're saying.
But I got another question for you, and just for
(55:50):
the people out there that is trying to give a
start to a media going to media school, trying to
build their career, you know, trying to just focus on
their career and do what they love to do, going
to school for interviews.
Speaker 1 (56:07):
Videos and all the media.
Speaker 2 (56:08):
Being professional, you know what are some of the top
tips you will give them coming in this business?
Speaker 1 (56:16):
Being professional?
Speaker 3 (56:18):
Yeah, as far as being professional, I mean again and
kind of piggyback on that consistency.
Speaker 4 (56:23):
But also just make sure you know your yo.
Speaker 3 (56:26):
You know, know your stuff, know your facts, know your business,
know your prices, Know what you're willing to do and
what you're not willing to do, and be comfortable with that.
Speaker 4 (56:35):
And be honest to about what you can deliver.
Speaker 3 (56:38):
I think sometimes we over deliver and well over you
know say and underdelivered. But you want to make sure
that you can only do what you can do. Don't
don't try to big yourself up too big in the beginning,
like especially if you're just starting out, because a lot
of the time right now, businesses, organizations, whoever, they're gonna
look for social media people regardless or people that and
(57:00):
do the apps and the little tid bits they can't do.
They didn't have these jobs like seven years ago, you know,
what I'm saying, they didn't have the opportunity for you
to go and be a social media manager or a
media correspondent on this level.
Speaker 4 (57:12):
You had to have the marketing expertise.
Speaker 3 (57:15):
Now you can say, hey, I can this is what
I can create for you for your business, versus saying well,
I can do all of this but for you know,
a fee or it depends on whatever.
Speaker 4 (57:26):
Whatever, this is what I can do. Let's see if
you're gonna do it, yes or.
Speaker 3 (57:30):
No, you know, until you can build yourself up, but
just make sure you're honest about what you can really
do for real.
Speaker 1 (57:36):
I agree. I want to get that round a plow.
Now it's Robin doing any acting.
Speaker 4 (57:42):
Oh my god.
Speaker 3 (57:43):
I got asked to do acting before, but no, not
right now. I did me Bo Gil and you know, we'll.
Speaker 4 (57:49):
See yeah, yeah, we'll see what happens.
Speaker 2 (57:54):
Yeah, boat deal man. We got part two of this
new movie out right now, but we can on the
end of time.
