Julie Kuhlken, PhD is Owner of Pedernales Cellars, located in Stonewall in the Texas Hill Country. A well-versed wine professional, she has earned the Level III award from the Wine and Spirits Education Trust, and is currently a candidate for the Diploma. She has served as President of the Texas Hill Country Winery Association, and currently serves on its marketing committee, as well as on the board of the Economic Development Commission for Gillespie County. As a graduate of Stanford University and former academic, she is the author of a book and numerous articles in the field of philosophy, including essays on wine and philosophy. Over the decades she has spoken at numerous professional conferences sharing her knowledge of the industry. She has recently been awarded Austin Monthly’s Woman’s Way award in recognition of her contributions to the Texas wine industry over the past 30 years.

Jessica Dupuy covers wine, spirits, and travel from Austin, Texas. She holds a Diploma with the Wine and Spirit Educational Trust, is a Certified Sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers, and a Certified Specialist of Wine and Spirits through the Society of Wine Educators. Dupuy’s work has appeared in Food & Wine, Wine Enthusiast, Imbibe, Texas Monthly, Forbes, SevenFifty Daily, GuildSomm, VinePair, and Southern Living. She recently published, The Wines of Southwest USA in addition to six regional cookbooks. Her forthcoming book, Italianity, with co-author Andrea Lonardi MW explores and celebrates the culture of Italian wine. (Release Spring 2026). She also co-hosts podcast, Another Bottle Down.
