Mia Livas Porter is a wife for over 16 years and the mother of two boys. Mia went to her first Moms Demand Action meeting after Parkland as a concerned parent. She then stepped into a leadership role at a local group meeting, discovering she was a survivor of gun violence. Mia's brother Junior died by gun suicide in 1992 after battling schizophrenia for 5 years.
She has been sharing her story nationwide, on various media platforms to include at the US Capitol, with Federal, State, and local lawmakers as an Evertytown Survivor Fellow. Mia is the California Survivor Events lead, she works to create events supporting survivors- creating a safe community. Mia recently announced that she was throwing her hat in the political arena running in 2022 for California Assembly her motto is creating “A California That Works for All.”
