073 - "Periods, Pelvic Pain and How Fibroids Impact African American Women" w/ Dr. William Ngheim

On  Episode 73, We tackle #Fibroids and how it impacts African American  Women specifically. 

Dr. Ngheim is an interventional radiologist who specializes in women's health in Maryland. In particular, I focus on educating women about uterine fibroids and creating awareness. He educates his patients about the non-surgical options for fibroid treatment as many of their obgyns may not mention that to them.

Uterine fibroids are a common gynecologic condition among women and the primary reason for hysterectomy for US women. Over their lifetime, about 80 percent of black women and 70 percent of white women will develop fibroids.  Fibroids, also called leiomyomata or myomas, are noncancerous tumors that develop within the muscle tissue of the uterus (also called the womb).
