com and the author of more than thirty books. Jim Paris.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
All right, Hello everybody, Welcome to the broadcast. Jim Parris
here with you and man. So much going on people
that are in the news business and podcasting. There is
no shortage of stuff to talk about. And I want
to start right out of the gates here with this
situation with Kamala Harris. It is just bizarre. She is

(01:19):
not doing a press conference, and apparently her handlers are
advising her not to do a press conference because, let's
just be honest, she's not going to do well if
she has a press conference. She's just not very I
don't want to I don't want to be insulting. What's
the word I use? She's just not very good at

(01:40):
answering questions, let's just put it that way. And a
lot of strange things too happening at these events with
her and Tim Walls. There is evidence online showing that
they're hiding empty seats. In one case, there's a stadium
that has two levels to it, you know, you have
the up seats, and they're using like blackout curtains to

(02:03):
cover the upper deck seats which are all empty. There's
a lot of things online, a lot of evidence of
possibly hiring people to be stand ins, to be protesters,
to show up at these events protesting Trump. You know,
for example, you'll get x amount of dollars per hour
to hold up a anti Trump sign and be there

(02:24):
at the event and fill a seat. That kind of
a thing. And people are posting like Craiglist, Craigslist ads
and things like that online. I don't know if it's
legit or not. It just it doesn't look like she
is bringing out the people like Trump does. I mean,
I think what was a one hundred and seven thousand
at Trump's event in New Jersey. These are just insane numbers.

(02:47):
I mean, these are bigger than you could fit in
any stadium, So it is it is crazy. And so
it looks like a lot of the positions of Kamela
and Tim are following Trump. They're already saying that they
would go along with the tax free tips idea that

(03:08):
Trump has proposed, and now Biden is saying he will
sign a bill making tips tax free. So I think
that's interesting too that Trump comes up with the idea
and then they jump on board, which is fine. I mean,
I'd love for the Liberals to steal all of our
great ideas and implement them. This will be interesting though,

(03:28):
because in the business that I'm in, in the mortgage business,
it's really hard when we work with somebody who is
on tips, whether they're a waiter or a waitress, or
a bartender, a bellman, you know, any of these kind
of jobs where there's a lot of tipping involved. Cab
drivers get a lot of tips. Well, in recent years

(03:50):
there is somewhat more of a paper trail because people
tip on their credit cards and on their apps and
that sort of thing, but there still is a lot
of cash tipping that goes on, and so people in
that industry they do as much as they can to
try to hide that money. Let's just call it what
it is. They try to hide that cash, and then

(04:11):
when it comes time to get a mortgage, they wish
that they had shown that money, even though it would
have been taxable, because that would help them to qualify
for a mortgage. So we have some kind of creative
waves of dealing with that. We've got these bank deposit
mortgages where you can prove your income by your bank deposits.
But I think this would make life just so much

(04:34):
easier for everybody if the tips were tax free. This
would really help out the struggling restaurant industry for sure,
and also put some money in the pockets of some
really hard working people that are honestly, you know, if
they're in the middle class, they're barely in the middle class.
These are people working super hard, and to take away

(04:56):
their cash tips, you know, to make them taxable, is
really not right. It never really should have been taxed.
The tips really should have never been taxed. And I
think this is a great idea. I'm glad that everybody
is on board with it, and I'm just interested to
see how this would affect the mortgage industry that I
work in, in the sense that everybody would be happy

(05:20):
to declare their tips, whether they be cash or on
credit cards, and to make that all above the table money,
and that would help a lot more people also to
qualify for mortgages. And Trump is proposing the end of
taxes on Social Security, and I haven't heard yet if
the Liberals are going along with that. Probably they'll jump

(05:43):
on board with that as well. And I always thought
that was strange, right, It's like giving you money with
the right hand and then taking it back with the
left hand. I never understood this idea of taxing Social Security.
It really makes no sense, all right. So there was
another earthquake today in California. I guess it was a

(06:04):
four point four, and then last week there was an
earthquake that came in at over a five. So an
earthquake today, then an earthquake last week over a five.
And so there was also some big event at Yosemite
National Park. What was it a week ago or two

(06:25):
weeks ago? One of the geysers like exploded. There's kind
of a lot of anecdotal evidence and people have been
predicting it like the big one is coming somewhere. We're
going to have a major seismic event. I don't know.
It does feel like something big is going to happen.
It just does. I've got that, like my spidy senses

(06:45):
are tingling that something big is about to happen. I know,
we've got a bunch of US warships that are steaming
towards the Middle East. There is possibly going to be
some major, major confrontation again between Iran and Israel, and
we already know that. Overnight there was a lot of

(07:08):
rockets fired by Hezbollah into Israeli territories. So it looks
like they're shaping up that there's going to be some
kind of a response from Iran on that targeted strike
that Israel did about a week ago against one of
the leaders of Hamas. So a lot going on in

(07:30):
the world and in particular in the Middle East. Hey,
so this is exciting. I decided that I was going
to take the plunge and go ahead and get my
drone license, my commercial drone pilot's license. And I have
a small drone. I've had it for a few years.

(07:50):
I haven't really used it much, but one of the
reasons I'm doing this is I think it's a lot
of fun flying a drone, and if you can get
paid for it. That makes it even better. Right. But
this new course that I'm teaching online has really exploded,
so many people are getting in on this course Real Picks,

(08:11):
Real Profits, and it's all about all these different ways
of making money taking pictures of real estate, also business locations.
For example, I just got two jobs that were offered
to me on my phone here on the app where
I would go to retail stores and walk through and

(08:33):
take pictures. So this is big. And we have just
gotten through our first week of the training and we
already have some people that have completed more than five
paid assignments in just their first week. I mean, they're
just learning how to do all this stuff. So one
of the niches inside of this taking pictures opportunity in

(08:57):
my course is becoming a drune pilot. So in one
of my apps that I'm teaching people to sign up
for to do this, there's all these different boxes that
you can check off for different licenses that you have.
So for example, because I have a real estate license,
i checked off that box. But there's a lot of
other ones in there about people that are you know, public,

(09:21):
public insurance adjusters, all kinds of different professions. Appraisers, all
kinds of different things that you could potentially check a
box off and then get more work for it. Well,
one of those boxes is commercial drone Pilot license, So
it is an FAA license and it is one hundred

(09:41):
and seventy five bucks to take the test. I just
bought the course over the weekend and it was only
like I think it was like thirty seven dollars the
study course. And people are saying, you get the course
and you study for like two days, and you go
take the test and you pass it. And if you
pass it, then you are a commercial drone pilot, which

(10:02):
means that you can charge money for taking drone pictures,
which I think is really cool. So you can still
fly a drone without that license, but if you want
to make money and charge people for flying your drone
and taking pictures and video, then you need the commercial
license to do that. So I am planning to get
that license this week. I mean to take the test.

(10:25):
God willing I pass the test. I'm planning to knock
that out this week. So I'll have an update for
you on the next episode of the broadcast. And I'm
really excited to see within these apps that I'm teaching
on how many more opportunities that this opens up, you know,
once I get the commercial drone pilot's license, how many

(10:49):
additional options I'm given to make more money going out
and taking pictures. Well, this was funny. Somebody shared this
with me on Facebook to remember Rod Blagoyevitch, the Illinois
governor that ended up. The allegation was that he tried
to sell Obama's Senate seat. After Obama won his first

(11:10):
term and became president, there was that open Senate seat.
He was accused and convicted of trying to sell that seat.
He went to prison. He was then released. Well now,
and he's famous for doing these Elvis impersonations. So somebody
shared with me a video of Rod Blagoyevitch this weekend

(11:32):
in the Chicago suburbs performing as Elvis Presley at some
kind of an outdoor event at a park. I thought
it was hilarious and I love this guy. He's just
he's He used to have a talk show too that
he did even after he was out of office and
waiting to go to jail and he was on trial,

(11:52):
he still had like a talk show. I think it
was on WLS in Chicago. A funny guy and you
just love seeing people live their life. So yeah, so
he was governor, he was a lawyer, got disbarred, he
was governor, went to prison and all that, lost his
law license, and now he's just doing different things. And
one of those things is he's out performing as Elvis Presley,

(12:14):
so you gotta love it. Well. One of the videos
that I posted on my Facebook and also on my
TikTok which by the way, I'm on TikTok if you
aren't following me over there, it's at James el Parris's
my TikTok handle. I posted a video about a website
which is called Just Answer, Just answer dot com, and

(12:38):
it is a website that anybody can go and sign
up at and become an expert, a question answering expert.
And the story that I shared, I believe this was
from CNBC. There is a guy who is a diesel
mechanic who stopped working as a diesel mechanic and he

(13:01):
stays home now and what he does all day is
he answers questions about diesel engine repairs through this website
Just answer dot com, and he is making reportedly fourteen
thousand dollars a month answering questions at just answer dot

(13:22):
com and I plan on doing an article about this
and something more substantial, you know, giving people some more
information and including that I'm going to sign up for
this myself and see if I can get in on
some of this money as well. But it's called just
answer dot com and people are going crazy asking me

(13:43):
to tell them all about it, and I don't know
much about it other than what I read in this
one article and then other than giving people the link
to go to just answer dot com. And it looks like,
I mean, everything from home repairs to mechanics to lawyers.
There's all kinds of different niches on there where you

(14:04):
can sign up to be a question answerer and make
money get paid to answer questions. This story was crazy.
So the Secret Service was providing security for Kamala Harris
at a fundraiser and this was you know, in a
location where I guess when they go into an area

(14:27):
where there's a lot of different office space or retail space,
they kind of take over the area to kind of
make sure that nobody is maybe lying in wait, hiding
in a nearby business or whatnot. Well, this is crazy.
A lady has a hair salon, and they she was

(14:48):
told to kind of lock up and not operate her
business that day due to the security needs of the
Secret Service. But while she was well, she was not
there in in her business. The Secret Service agents put
a piece of tape over her ring doorbell, blocking the
camera so she couldn't see who was going in and out.

(15:11):
And apparently they had picked the lock to her business
and let people go in and use the bathroom in
her business. And on the one hand, she was, you know,
she said, look, if I knew they needed to use
my business, I would have probably allowed them to if
they would have asked me. She said, I might have
even come in and brought coffee and donuts for people

(15:32):
and been just really neighborly about it. But the idea
that they they did this without her knowledge. They breached
the door of her business, blocked her camera, and let
strangers come in and use her bathroom. This is just crazy.
And this to me really typifies it's this is not

(15:54):
really so much about the Secret Service, but it's just
government in general, the lack of respect for private property.
I mean, that is her private business that they broke
into and used the bathroom. Now On the one hand,
it's no big deal. I mean, nothing was taken, nothing
was damaged. Some they came in and used the bathroom.

(16:15):
But this is just the audacity of who do these
people think they are? If you or I did that,
if we were, you know, out in public and needed
to use the bathroom and decided, hey, here's a business
that looks like it's empty, let's get our lock pick
set out and we'll open this business up, and we'll
go in there and use the bathroom and maybe let
some other people in to use the bathroom. We would

(16:38):
be charged with breaking and entering, and rightfully so. But
the idea that the Secret Service would do this just
goes to show how government people think there are no
boundaries with private property. It's it's just it's it's shocking.
It's it's craziness. And Ruby Tuesdays. I want to talk
a little bit about Ruby Tuesdays and also just in

(17:00):
general restaurant deals that are out there. So I was
having a craving about a week ago for a salad bar,
and our Ruby Tuesdays here in Palm Coast closed down,
I don't know, maybe a year or two ago, and
a lot of them closed down because the big thing

(17:21):
is the salad bar. And then COVID caused them to
close down the salad bar. So our Ruby Tuesdays here
in Palm Coast closed down, and then the one in
Daytona Beach closed down. But I didn't really remember that
there was a Ruby Tuesdays in Saint Augustine. So I
posted in one of the neighborhood groups. I said, I'm
looking for a salad bar. Where can I find a

(17:42):
salad bar? And they said, oh, the Ruby Tuesdays at
State Road sixteen, and I ninety five. Well, I forgot
that that was even there. So I went there about
a week ago, and I went in and I did
what I used to do, which is I ordered the
salad bar with a meal, and then I I just
have them box the meal right away, and then I

(18:03):
just eat the salad bar. That's my meal, and then
the hot meal that comes in from the kitchen that
goes home with me, that becomes a meal for another day.
And so that was my plan. And I did all that,
and it's a fantastic deal when you buy an entree
and then you buy the salad bar. But then somebody
told me after I did that, they said, hey, do

(18:25):
you have the Ruby Tuesday app? And I did not
have the app on my phone. So a couple days later,
I put the Ruby Tuesday's app on my phone and
when I went back, it had an offer where if
you buy an entree, you get the salad bar for free.
So I was able to take advantage of that. So

(18:46):
I bought an entree and I was able to get
the salad bar for free. That was cool. Then I
went back a third time and they had a buy one,
get one entree deal on the app, and I said, hey, look,
I'm just cheered by myself, so if I just can

(19:07):
I buy two entrees for the price of one, And
they said you sure can. I said, can you just
box those to go? So they did, and then I
added the salad bar. So I ate the salad bar.
That was my meal there, and then I came home
with two meals, two beautiful meals that I put in
my freezer, one of which I actually ate a little

(19:28):
bit of that for lunch today and that'll be my
dinner tonight as well. Why am I telling you all
this not just to tell you about Ruby Tuesdays and
the app and how cool it is. To do the
salad bar thing. But a lot of restaurants now are
trying to get people back out to eat again, and
part of that are these apps that they have. My

(19:50):
sister raves about the Chili's app that they've got you
all these deals where if you have the Chili's App,
you get automatically free chips, and also when you sit
down and you order, and then there's some kind of
a ten ninety nine burger deal, which it's a burger
that I guess is a lot like the Big Mac

(20:12):
in terms of how it's made and the sauce that's
on it, but it's supposedly a much better burger than
the Big Mac. But it's along those same lines, and
you get even more meat with it and all that,
and it comes with French fries, plus you get another
side for like ten ninety nine. So all these restaurants,
these chains are are really trying to get people to

(20:34):
become frequent and consistent visitors, and they're doing that through
these apps. So I'm simply throwing this out to you.
If you've given up on eating out, maybe it's because
you're not doing it the right way. So I'm a
single guy, and when I first became single, it was
kind of awkward eating out, but then I got used

(20:55):
to it and I thought, oh, this isn't bad. And
sometimes you're sitting by yourself at a table and the
server will strike up a little bit more of a
conversation with you because they know you're by yourself. Sometimes
you'll meet somebody else that might be sitting there, or
if you're you know, adventurous, you could sit up at
the bar and order your meal there. So I've been
eating out a little bit more, but it's mostly because

(21:18):
of these app deals. So if I could go out,
you know, to a Ruby Tuesdays and I can get,
you know, for twenty bucks. If I could get two
meals to take home and then a salad bar to
eat there, which is what it turned out to be
the other day, that's a fantastic deal for me. And
a lot of these take home meals are big enough

(21:39):
that it's really two meals, So in essence, for about
I think my bill was twenty three dollars. I got
two large take home dinners, which probably will be four
dinners by the time I spread them out, and then
I got the salad bar, so I got really five
meals for twenty three bucks, which is probably less than

(22:00):
it would be if I bought the groceries to make
that food. And so eating out is it's something that
I think most people still look at it as a luxury.
But I'm just throwing this out that you know, maybe
there's an opportunity to eat out a little bit here
there if you're smart about it, take advantage of some
of these deals and you're using the apps. So I'm

(22:24):
just telling you too, someone who's gone through a weight
loss journey where I lost a lot of weight, then
I gained it back, and I'm trying to lose weight again,
that a lot of these restaurant meals are really two meals.
I mean, one meal in a restaurant is really two meals.
If you just sit back and look at it, you
don't need to eat all that food. You probably need

(22:47):
typically half, maybe even in some cases, only a third
of the food that they put on the plate. That's
how big some of these restaurant meals are, which is
why some people do the meal splitting. I think that's fine,
but for me, you know, taking home the meals and
doing the salad bar thing, that's something I'm going to
be doing a lot at Ruby Tuesdays because I just

(23:09):
I love salad bars. I love being able to go
up there and kind of make my own creation, and
I love Thousand Island dressing. So other than Ruby Tuesdays,
I think the only place around here anymore that I
could get a salad bar is the chart House, which
is a great restaurant too, a little pricey, but a
fantastic restaurant with a really famous salad bar. And that

(23:33):
is they've got one in Jacksonville, and then they've got
another one down in Daytona Beach. All right, So that's
all I've got for you this week. I do want
to emphasize that I'm doing a lot over on TikTok.
A lot of my content on TikTok you won't see
anywhere else. You're not gonna necessarily hear it on the podcast.
You're not gonna see it on Facebook necessarily. Sometimes I

(23:57):
do kind of multi per I multi use, or I
recycle it. I'll put something on Facebook that I also
put on TikTok, but not always is that happening. So
you're gonna find some unique content of mine over on TikTok.
And I'm getting to get pretty popular, but I've got
i think almost two thousand people following me over on TikTok,

(24:21):
and I've been enjoying going live on TikTok also, which
is really fun as well to be able to. I
was out yesterday in Daytona Beach at the big flea
market down there, and I went live on TikTok and
just walked around the flea market, just kind of showing
people all the different products that were for sale and
just kind of the unique environment of the flea market

(24:44):
there in Daytona Beach. Didn't put that anywhere else. That
was just on TikTok. So follow me on TikTok at
James Elparis, and if you're looking to make extra money,
consider getting involved in my course if you want, I
want to take a look at it and kick the tires.
I do have the replay to the webinar. It's posted

(25:05):
to the very top of my Facebook page. God bless
have a great week. We'll talk to you next time.
