Speaker 1 (00:01):
The following is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com
and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club. But uh, we're back
(00:22):
for another Boots in the Bubble. We've got more boots,
more bubble than you can even imagine. I don't even
know what day we're on. It's starting to feel like
a black hole a little bit. But we are cruising
right through to making our team for the twenty twenty season.
And speaking of making our teaming, we have got four
(00:44):
i mean killer Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders with us tonight and
they are going to give you all the deeds on
our training camp twenty in the Bubble. So Savannah, introduce yourself.
Tell us who you are. We should already know by
now fourth years. I'm Sabiannah. I'm twenty nine years old
(01:07):
from Saint Augustine, Florida, and I'm going into my fourty years.
Our little Floridian moving all over the place. Girl. She's
just our our cultured queen we like to call her.
She needs a little bit about everything. Joining us. Also,
we have Rachel. Hello, I'm Rachel. I'm twenty five years
(01:30):
old and I'm from Plano, Texas, our little hometown cutie.
We got over here. Another hometown cutie. We've got Lexi. Hi, y'all.
My name is Lexie. I'm twenty six years old and
I'm from flower On, Texas. Just the little sweetest flower,
my own girl. All right, We've got our West Coast,
(01:51):
best coast babe from Sunny San Diego. All right, Gina, Hi, guys,
this Gina. I'm twenty five years old and I just
said I'm from Sunny San Diego, California, which I'm super
jealous of it. You got to spend some time at home.
It did looked beautiful. It was such a dream and
(02:12):
it was so nice to get some long spread of
time with my family because you know, we always have
such a busy schedule, whether it's season or off season,
we're always working on something here. Yeah, So like, honestly,
I mean, there's the given cons of the quarantine and everything,
but for girls that have been on the team for
(02:35):
three years going on their fourth, you know what the
time commitment is like. So having that quality time with
your family is incredible. You know, so super pump that
y'all got some time there. But now that you finally
got some time in the bubble with us too, you
guys as veteran candidates have been here for what five
(02:55):
days now, Yeah, and yesterday was probably the most gruesome
day since we have been in this bubble. There was blood, sweat,
and tears literally all three lots of ron stones, lots
of hairspray, and lots of pep talk too. I feel
(03:19):
like that's what I could see each other, Like, you
guys are the best that pumping each other up. So um,
Lexie start us off what was yesterday and kind of
set up how it was different than different, like just
than it has been in the past, since everything is
literally different now. Yeah, it's funny, he said. You know,
(03:39):
yesterday was one of the hardest days because we knew
we wanted to do this together since we're the fourth
years on the team, and we're like, let's just wait
until we get past tomorrow and then we will volunteer
to be because we knew that it was going to
be a crazy day. I think it ended up taking
about seven hours or so, several different rounds from we
(04:00):
all did our solos, then we did our signature routine,
we did a hip hop, we did a child tom
we did leaves and turns. I mean, I was just
Savannah and I run the thing group and Savannah just
kept saying one step at a time and just everything
we tacked off the list. It just felt like a
little bit of a way it got lifted off from
our shoulders. But overall it was a super fun day.
(04:21):
We got to watch each other, which hasn't been super
common for this training camp just because of how careful
we're being and everything. So it was really funny to
watch each other and cheer each other on. Yeah, so
solos in the past have been during auditions back in May.
It's August, and we're just now getting to solos, you know,
(04:43):
and that's such a huge part of this process as
your solo. Well, what we have done, it's created this
hybrid sugar auditions solos all in one, and you all
brought it all, four of you literally cranked it off
eleven and brought it. Especially your music. So let's start
(05:03):
with Savannah. I want to know what song you chose
and then what style of dance you decided to do
for your solo. So I actually changed my song at
the last minute. I knew I wanted to do a
Broadway Keef and Tina actually found my song. So I
did a song from Burless and I didn't starve a
Broadway style, which was really fun. I had a lot
(05:25):
of fun with it, and I made my costume. I
felt really good about that and it was beautiful. Thank
you Yesterday was just so much fun. It was literally
in a time where a lot of performers aren't getting
to perform. I just felt really lucky that we all
got Okay, Oh, that's such a good point with the
dance industry and everything right now, and you're right, huge
(05:47):
shows aren't able to be, you know, continuing their residency
in these singers and stuff, so being able to be
on a stage that Rachel tell us about that with
you know your song, your style, and what it felt
like being on a stage again. It was awesome being
on a stage again. And I actually liked the aspect
of doing solos on a stage because it kind of
felt like competitions, and usually we do them it's a
(06:10):
stage kind of, but it's a flat level stage at
auditions when we typically do them, so that was a
different element which was pretty fun. The song I did
was I Was Here by Beyonce, and that had a
special place in my heart because it's actually the song
that I used as one of my Nationals dances in college.
I was gonna use my same costume, but I actually
(06:32):
wore that one my first year, so instead I borrowed
Aaron's costume. But I switched it up a little this
year I used to do over the last three years,
I did kind of a higher energy jazz and this
year was a little bit slower and lyrical, so it
was fun to kind of show a different side. It
was beautiful, and I mean I've kind of got emotional
(06:54):
because that song was so powerful, and especially for someone
returning for a fourth year, you know, like that song
really was fitting for I felt your journey through DCC
and just re establishing that you know, I've been for
a while, but you know what, I'm back, you know,
like that whole like vibe you put out. It was incredible,
So thank you, right job choosing that. Loved it, um Gina,
(07:19):
talk about your solo song and our Comeback Girl season. Yes. So,
as some of you may know, I was injured back
in November. The week of Thanksgiving. I was at a
show at the Star in Frisco, and unfortunately I ended
up hearing my ACL out there at that show, So
(07:42):
I was lucky enough to get operated very quickly after
that and get on the road to recovery. And ever
since then, I've been working hard and pt to strengthen
my muscles and get back to where I once was.
And I think it was back in January when I
first heard this song Rise Up by Udred Day, and
I thought that it just totally struck a chord with me,
(08:04):
and I knew that I had to do this song
just because of the beautiful message that that it portrayed
about you knowing that whatever struggles and whatever challenges you
may face, you always have the ability to rise up
and move beyond them and get back to where you
once was. Once we're and even beyond that. So yeah,
(08:26):
it was. Yeah, I feel like I like replayed slow
motion because I was at that show with Genus, so
like I felt like I was like replaying that slow
motion to like her, to like watching her. It was amazing.
We were all so proud of her. Been an emotional
um journey, and even like me practicing this dance, I
(08:49):
would get emotional thinking about just how far I've come
in the whole process of you know, eight months ago,
I couldn't even walk and I had to just take
baby steps to get back to where I am, but
performing that I just had so much joy in my
heart and all my friends were so supportive cheering me on,
and it just felt so great to be back on stage. Well,
you couldn't tell that you had even had a surgery
(09:11):
in the last year, I mean, especially like a major one.
So about a true performer at her fonnest because girl,
you sure didn't leave it out there and that costume though,
thank you guys whoa beautiful all around All right, Lexie,
give us your solo song, what style you did, and
(09:31):
then tell us about the judging with like and kind
of how that was different this year as in past years. Yeah,
so I am pretty I'm always pretty indecisive when it
comes to my solo song. But I ended up doing
pyt by MJ, which was really fun. I did what
I pretty much always do, which is a high energy
jazz but works for me, so I just went with that.
(09:53):
And I actually borrowed a costume from Mattie that she had,
which was really nice. That was a different aspect act
of Souls this year two A lot of us were
kind of trying to be resourceful and borrow and share
and you know, practicing in living rooms without having a
lot of studio space, so that definitely brought a different
element to it. Yeah, overall it was it was really fun.
(10:14):
Um and then judging wise, um, we had some fun
special judges. Can I say who they were? I don't know,
maybe the prise for Lighter, okay, but tell us like
kind of I guess, Like you know, in fact, usually
show group auditions, they're sitting in front of you, and
(10:34):
so like that has a like, for example, like Zeno's
routeam like we all felt her energy from the stage,
you know, so it's like they were watching out through
a screen. Yeah, but what was that was difficult? Yeah,
so the judges were watching us through a screen, and
I think that that adds another challenge to it because
you're just two dimensional and so I think we all
(10:56):
kind of had that in our mind, but it was
it was different not having a full panel there. But
it was also really nice because it took a little
bit of the pressure off. We just had Kelly and
Judy in front of us, which is of course always scary,
but then all of our friends were all around cheering
us on, so it was awesome. I think that was
the best part was just the like y'all being so
supportive of each other. I think that's a question that
we all get a lot too, Like all the girls,
(11:17):
Actually it's not that, you know whatever, and it's like, yeah,
actually everyone is that friendly, they're that encouraging. It's like
a miss busted kind of thing, like yes, no, they're
that's pretty and nothing supportive, which is what we need
in the world. You know that. Oh oh my gosh, wait,
(11:41):
that is the high lot of solos. Is the Vet move.
Everybody just goes wild. So Savana tell us about like
what the vet like, you have to tell us the
Vet movie time to explain like why and the like
what behind it. So the Vet move is kind of
like we decide before on the three of the team,
(12:01):
what move from one of our signature dances that we
that everyone kind of their solo And when that move
comes up to someone's solo, we all just go crazy
and start hearing and clapping. And it's so special when
you when you hear that cheer because you just want to,
you know, give it a little bit more punch in
power and it's it's increation. It is funny to watch
(12:24):
all the different styles Black Girls that choreer graph it
into a hip hop or team because his girls and
choereer graphing into a lyrical flush. Yeah, or oh my gosh,
that's where it's nice when you do a big powerful
jazz because it always blows and you're like, okay, lyrical
hows and making this move you know where that was
(12:46):
a good one to watch the lyrical people. Yeah, like
they're floating. Yeah, so other than you in your solos yesterday. Look,
I mean he's like, like he sign dates for seven hours.
That's insane. Hey, that's most people's almost most people work bay.
And then on top of that, you're giving it. You're
(13:08):
all on stuff. You did hip hop a lyrical um
and then you do you're like across the floor stuff.
What is the like, how does that play into show group?
You know, because we combined solos and show auditions onto one,
and I think a lot of people get confused on
like what show group is and kind of how your
(13:31):
solo stuff sort of ties into that. So Rachel'll give
us some beats on that. So I think it was
really cool having the solo aspect as a part of
the show group of show group auditions instead of the
auditions to make it to training camp. I think it
showed it kind of reminded the judges what were really good. Yeah. Usually,
(13:54):
you know, they see our solos in May and then
by the time show group auditions roll around, they kind
of get, oh, wow, she's really technical. She can do
all of this really well. But that's pretty cool having
an opportunity to showcase a full in thirty seconds of
what I'm good at instead of just a quick across
the floor of leaps and turns and then four accounts
(14:14):
and you're done. So I like having it as a
part of Sugar pudditions. That made the day a lot longer.
But other than that, I think it was it was
special to have. Yeah, for sure, that's a good point
of being able to remind the judges. You know, these
people they see you in May and then they come
back ends are sporadically through training camp and thinking about
(14:38):
stuff like coming back end sporadically. I want to know
what memory that you all have of dancing, Like all,
you know, we are on the field for ninety percent
of all of our performances, but there's those few and
far in between that we actually get to perform and
(14:59):
dance somewhere else or you know, something like some rates. Honestly,
the amount of things that DCC that I've wound up
and I'm like, how did I get here? You know,
what are I want to know? Especially like Gina, you
start us with what is your favorite memory dancing off
the field through DCC. Well, I honestly there's so many
(15:20):
to choose from, but I'm gonna have to go with
our Queen performance last July. I can't think it's already
been a year from it, but I know when it
rolled around this year, we were all reminiscing and looking
back on all those crazy videos of us coming out
at American Airlines with Queen and Adam Lambert, and I mean,
that's a performance that I will never forget. I will
(15:42):
never forget the feeling of the drum beats and the
energy of the crowd once they saw us, because we
were a total surprise. So that was just some that
we get. We got to do that. We pulled it
together in about four days, I think in the middle
trading camp, so just think about normal training camp plus
as you know, this whole show with veterans. But we
were all so excited to do it, and it was
(16:05):
such a success. I think we're all gonna remember that forever.
Oh for sure. You know what's funny, Like I was
thinking about you're all the energy with the songs you
chose for shows or for your solos and stuff, and
then I think about the energy of a live band.
Now that that Lexie tell me about performing with a
live band, and like how different that is from just
(16:25):
like prerecorded music that you played. Yeah, one performance that
comes to mind besides Queen, we've also performed with Neil
McCoy before and had a live band and it really
does it just amps it up even more. It's so
much fun being able to perform with Now that is
a performance that people made to say because you don't
we never know, like is he gonna come out and
(16:47):
tell a joke or is he gonna come out and
put the band just starts to play random song. We
just have to make something else. Keep chos, that's for sure.
He's a hood Rachel, what's your favorite memory dance? And
off the field, I think Gina stole the show with
the best one aside from Queen. I love, love love
(17:11):
our Christmas shows. It's it's probably the opportunity where we
get to have the fans closer to us than they
typically would be at a game, and just you know,
it's the holiday spirit and everyone is, you know, so excited.
It's a quick show, but there are fireworks and there
are people tumbling, and there are people in the air
and the tree and it's just lay going on and
(17:33):
it's we get a dance on presents. And that's my
favorite part of the whole Righteous Tree. So it's beautiful.
Not fields the Christmas show is hands down, gosh, that's
a good one. Yeah, all the warm fuzzies from the holidays.
I can't wait. And we get to do ten of
them and then they go buy so quickly. I'm on
(17:53):
show ten. You're like, they're over. I want to start
over from show one and do it all again. That
is fun. It's like a nice little um it's it's
it's kind of nice to change it up, like beyond
the turf. There's nothing like I mean a AT and T.
But those Christmas shows like that, that is something to
look forward to. Good these are good will. It's funny
how you forget like then actually all of them are fun.
(18:16):
So anyways, Savannah, what's your favorite memory dates and off
the field, I have to stay clean. Um. That was
just so unreal. And I think my favorite moment was
getting ready to go on the stage and Judy was
kind of reminding us of like last minute things, and
then she stopped what she was doing and said, this
is so cool. Forgot that I've never seen Judy freak
(18:42):
out like that. But she looked like directly at all
of us and was like, oh my god, and like
had a little freak out moment because she thought it
was so cool. And I was like, it's funny to
watch Judy because usually she's always like girls, make sure
that your your feet are pointed and everything is in
the right place, and fix your hair and you're just like,
(19:03):
oh my gosh, okay your hair. We go and then
to like watch her kind of be in the moment,
it's nice and it's kind of cool to remind ourselves
like even after all the years that GD has spent
the organization, she's still in the moment with all this
and speak like, I feel like right now as a
cool time for you all to be in the moment
because this is unparalleled, Like this is a training camp
(19:25):
unlike any other. And I don't know if it's just me,
but wearing a mask is starting to feel normal. Kind
I got to my room and was like on the
phone with my mom and I was like running around
here kind of get set together, and I'm like fifteen
minutes and bye, I was still wearing my mask. I
(19:47):
was like, oh cool, I'll take this off now. Yeah,
it's just a part of the It's just a part
of the rebel uniform. At this point, the sparkly ones
to mak Right, Nike's Rebel masks stood done check. I
still think we need to get ones with like our
cameo smile on them goes out. It looks like we're performing.
(20:14):
I've seen masks that have like just cleared and I'm
like a little box so you could see your tea.
Oh that's funny. I imagine y'all trying to do hair
flips with the big visor ones on IM Like, Lauren, Yeah,
the face shields. Um. One other question I want to
touch on that was s in our comment section, which
(20:36):
we were so thankful for those, but what I think
this is a really funny one. UM, it's name a
current or former DCC that you're most similar to as
a person, And I think that's kind of a hard one.
So um, Rachel, oh, don't make me go first, try
(20:58):
current or former that I'm most similar to. I mean,
this is cliche. You know. They say that you're like
you take on the personalities of the people that you
spend the most time with. And the four of us
have spent a lot of time together the last you know,
three going on four years, and I find myself like
(21:18):
saying little phrases that Savani will say, or like doing
little things that Lexi does and Gina. So I'm gonna
go with my friends right here, you're lock since you're
looking at us, who I am? Lock? Wait? Gina? What
was that thing? We used to say? You did it?
We did it? Would say about all the time because
(21:41):
when we made the team. I don't know why what happened,
but we were just like, wait did it? Wait? Made it?
And then it became hated thing after you know, we
finished every practice we would just be like, wait, did
it shows up to work or to practice on time?
When Metta, You're right, that's a good one, right trout Savvies,
who were you the most similar too? I don't know,
(22:02):
I need help, do you guys think I'm m hmmm,
remember former Dasyc Emma. I'm gonna say a redhead like Emma,
pretty redhead, just sweet as a button. We love our Emma.
She was an all star with us, you know. I
mean we've all been on the field with her before. Yeah,
(22:25):
I think its thunder one time. That's I feel like
you're like even like you're a little like super personalityrounding it,
but like you're not like two sweets that you're like,
you know, people are like just like mash Man. I
like you old Drawn, You're strong, Oldrown You're strong. But yeah,
maybe I don't know because I love her all right, Lexie,
(22:49):
name us the former current that you're similar to. This
is so easy for me. Judy Trammel, I'm just kidding.
She's why keen this. I can She's one hundred percent
squinting right now. I mean, like, I'm just kidding. I
would love to compare myself to Duty, but I'm not
(23:09):
going to even go down that route. Um, I think
somebody I don't I don't know most similar to, but
somebody that was like my vet crush before I made
the team was Maggie and the coolest people ever, and
I just wanted to be like her. She's an amazing dancer.
She's a team favorite because she's so funny and nice
to everybody. So she was somebody that I always did
(23:31):
And it funny whenever you've got like it's kind of
like a rush crush, yes, and you like to see people,
and then you finally get the mean and we're like,
oh my god. You know, that is exactly how I
felt with Maggie. It's like she's so cool and then
we got to be in the same group. Rot it does.
It's it's a kind of a weird feeling, like, oh, man,
like I'll tell you about don't ye, Gina, who was yours?
(23:55):
I feel like my vet crush like that I followed
all the way. You know, she's only a year above me.
But Heather Maggie's best friend. So when I was in college,
I knew Heather just threw mutual friends in the dance
world and seeing in so cal and I reached out
to her and I came out for a prep class
(24:15):
stop coffee and she was just as sweet as can be,
so helpful, giving me all the resources and tips I
could ever ask for. And she's just a big ball
of sunshine. Everyone always has nothing but nice, amazing things
to say about her, So I always try to be,
you know, as sweet and as caring as she is.
I literally remember that day, like I remember her going
(24:37):
to meet you, like talking to her like, hey, what's up.
She's like going to Regina her coffee is like oh fine,
like and it's my leaders that year, which is yeah.
It was like, you know, I looked up to her,
and then she became like a mentor figure and then
after that, you know, we were just best friends. That
is funny. I was trying to think of who mom
would be a current reformer. D see, I'm most similar
(24:57):
to here, but she's actually a gramlage good friends. And
then like I kind of had a similar situation where
it was Daniels and she was a fourth year on
the team. Whenever I was there and I literally said,
I would all just like, oh my god, Danny, I'm
so nervous. But then now it's like we just you know,
you down. It's funny that you end up sort of
(25:20):
clicking with those people that you think you would anyways,
I'm funny sorry about that actually, because you know, when
you come in before you make this team, like you know,
I feel like at least most of us know a
lot about the girls that are already on the team.
And I sat next to Lily her first year and
m I kind of like started talking about my boyfriend
(25:40):
at the time to my husband and she's like, oh yeah, Grant,
like y'all been together for the year, you know. Like
she was like had no showing because a lot of
us like try to play it cool, but I just
respected Lily immediately. She's like, oh, yeah, you guys are
really cute. I've seen on Instagram, like she had no shows.
It was amazing, Sweet Lily Bug. She's a horrible Well
(26:02):
we have fully taken up all of our time and
I feel like this is just like the old days,
getting to catch up with you guys. It's been so fun. Um,
but go treat your wounds from the battle that you
had yesterday with that floor and UM, get ready for
we've got I think what tomorrow we get off day.
(26:22):
It's an all day. We need today today, so we're
going to take full advantage of that. UM. Thank you
Savannah and Rachel, Lexi and Gina for taking time to
fill everyone in on what's going on here to here
in our training camp. UM, y'all watching, put your comments
in the section with your questions, asking us what you
(26:45):
want to know about training camp twenty twenty. Here in
the bubble. We will work our hardest to try and
answer them all, and we thank you so much for
watching and keeping up with us, because all of your
support really doesn't mean a lot to these girls, so
wish them the best of luck as we continue our
way on making the team for twenty twenty. You're in
our training camp and until then we will see you later.
(27:09):
Thank you, guys. This has been a production of Dallas
Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
