Often we conflate a child to a diagnosis. We look at the characteristics of the diagnosis and we expect the child in question to resemble that summary. We forget that not only is each child unique, but each child has strengths that overflow the summary of the diagnosis and give us HOPE.

About Dr. Shoshana Levin Fox

Dr. Shoshana Levin Fox is a Jerusalem-based child psychologist, play therapist, autism specialist and the author of the parent-friendly An Autism Casebook for Parents and Practitioners: The Child Behind the Symptoms. Between 1992 and 2017, she worked at the renowned Feuerstein Institute in Jerusalem, where she was responsible for the dynamic assessment and treatment of children who had been diagnosed as autistic.  She has shared her wealth of experience using play-based methods to assess and treat young autistic children at numerous worldwide conferences, in professional publications, and most recently in her book, An Autism Casebook.  (Her personal journey led from small town Ohio, to Boston, to Vancouver, B.C. to Jerusalem.)
