This week we are talking about the use of medical cannabis in treating children with chronic or intractable health conditions. We will discuss the endocannabinoid system, the difference between hemp based CBD oil and true cannabis, whole plant medicine and how this much misunderstood plant can help improve health.
My guest is Dr. Bonni Goldstein, MD and Medical Director of Canna-Centers Wellness and Education. The center is a California based medical practice devoted to educating patients about the use of cannabis for serious and chronic medical conditions. In 2008, Dr. Goldstein developed an interest in the science of medical cannabis after witnessing its beneficial effects in an ill friend. Since then she has been evaluating both adult and pediatric patients for use of medical cannabis. She has a special interest in treating children with intractable epilepsy, autism and advanced cancers.
Dr. Goldstein recently authored the book "Cannabis Revealed: How the world's most misunderstood plant is treating everything from chronic pain to epilepsy". A great book that I have bought for myself and several loved ones!
A frequent speaker both nationally and internationally, Dr. Goldstein has presented her clinical results at the yearly CannaMed Conference in Boston, Patients Out of Time Conference and the Medical Cannabis Symposium in Sydney Australia. She has appeared on the TV show The Doctors and is featured in the soon to be released documentary "Weed the People."
