Leandro Bacuna is een geboren en getogen Groninger, komt uit een echt voetbalgezin en kwam via de opleiding in het eerste elftal van FC Groningen terecht. Na een carrière aan de andere kant van de zee met hoogte- en dieptepunten keerde hij terug in zijn Groningen en had hij maar één doel: promoveren naar de Eredivisie.
