Dr. Rachel Wurzman and Jennifer Nicolaisen are co-founders of SeekHealing, a non-profit organisation serving those at risk for heroin & opioid overdose in western North Carolina. SeekHealing provides free support services to anyone at any stage in the addiction healing process. They developed SeekHealing’s program of destigmatization and authentic relating to address the fundamental social isolation that drives humans toward addiction. In the first year of operation, over 100 Seekers joined the program, committing to growth into happier, healthier humans.
Dr. Rachel Wurzman
Dr. Wurzman is a neuroscientist and neuroethicist with an MS specialization in addiction and trauma treatment in adults, and a PhD in Neuroscience from Georgetown University.
Jennifer Nicolaisen
Jennifer Nicolaisen is the co-founder and Executive Director of SeekHealing. Her approach to helping individuals by first addressing addiction as a community disease is grounded in harm reduction and the importance of recognizing connection as a basic human need.
