La vie quotidienne de l'hivernage avec le capitaine et le second du bateau est rythmée par les aller-retours au village voisin, les réparations à bord et quelques balades au milieu des icebergs, pour le plaisir.
Mais quand soudain le blizzard se lève, le visage terrifiant et mystérieux du monde polaire se révèle à l'équipage...
