Transcript Today's Bible Translation Bible translation used in today's episode: Ch. 37-41 GNT, Ch. 42 NKJV Podcast Introduction Today is Prophecy Friday. We’ll read Ezekiel 37-42. I’m calling the episode “End Times.” Design: Jason Paschall | Photo: Dmitrii Zhodzishskii on Unsplash Comments on Russia and its president, Vladimir Putin have been in the news over the last year quite a lot because of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. I’m not going to comment on that war because that isn’t what the Lifespring! One Year Bible is about. But some people have the opinion that Russia will play an important role in the end times. So let’s look at that, shall we? 1And the word of the Lord came to me saying, 2“Son of man, set your face toward Gog of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him 3and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “Behold, I am against you, O Gog, prince of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal. 4I will turn you about and put hooks into your jaws, and I will bring you out, and all your army, horses and horsemen, all of them splendidly attired, a great company with buckler and shield, all of them wielding swords; 5Persia, Ethiopia and Put with them, all of them with shield and helmet; 6Gomer with all its troops; Beth-togarmah from the remote parts of the north with all its troops—many peoples with you.” Ezekiel 38;1-6 Now, before I talk about the things we can know from these chapters, I’d like to share something written by Bible commentator Warren Wiersbe. He wrote, “It’s tempting to identify Rosh with Russia and therefore Meschech with Moscow and Tubal with Tobolsk, both cities in Russia; but we would have a hard time defending this on linguistic grounds. This doesn’t rule out the participation of modern Russia, since it is located in the north (vv. 6, 15; 39:2), but neither does it demand it.”  So from the scriptures, we cannot know for sure that modern Russia is the land spoken of in these scriptures.  Let’s look at what we can know: 14“Therefore prophesy, son of man, and say to Gog, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “On that day when My people Israel are living securely, will you not know it? 15You will come from your place out of the remote parts of the north, you and many peoples with you, all of them riding on horses, a great assembly and a mighty army; 16and you will come up against My people Israel like a cloud to cover the land. It shall come about in the last days that I will bring you against My land, so that the nations may know Me when I am sanctified through you before their eyes, O Gog.” 17‘Thus says the Lord God, “Are you the one of whom I spoke in former days through My servants the prophets of Israel, who prophesied in those days for many years that I would bring you against them? 18It will come about on that day, when Gog comes against the land of Israel,” declares the Lord God, “that My fury will mount up in My anger. Ezekiel 14-18 NASB From verse 16, we know that this will happen in the last days. I have said many times on the show that I believe we are in the last days. I have also said that I am not dogmatic about that, but so many things have happened in the world since Israel again became a nation in 1948 that it is hard to avoid the thought that we are living in the closing days of history. We don't have time here to list all of the events. Entire books have been written on the subject. This is an area that has a myriad of rabbit holes into which one could invest a lot of time. I'll just give you a list of what we can glean from chapters 38 and 39: 38:1-6: Gog, a leader from the north of Israel, will lead an alliance of nations to attack Israel. Those nations include Persia, Ethiopia, Put, Gomer, Beth-togarmah and many peoples. These lands encompass modern Iran, Turkey, Libya, Ethiopia, and possibly Armenia and Germany. 38:10: His motivation will be twofold - his own evil desires and God's compulsion. Yes,

Prophecy Friday, and we'll readEzekiel 37 through 42. And I'm
calling this episode "EndTimes." But before we get
started, I think it's a goodidea to go to God in prayer. Our
gracious heavenly Father, Lord,we thank you so much for your
Word. We thank you, Lord, forgiving us a heads-up as to what
is going to happen in the endtimes. As we read today, I ask

(00:45):
you, Lord, to give usunderstanding, I pray this in
Jesus' name. Amen. Okay, let'sget started.
Ezekiel, chapter 37. I felt thepowerful presence of the Lord,
and his spirit took me and setme down in a valley where the
ground was covered with bones. He led me all around the valley,

(01:06):
and I could see that there werevery many bones and that they
were very dry. He said to me,“Mortal man, can these bones
come back to life?” I replied,“Sovereign Lord, only you can
answer that!” He said, “Prophesyto the bones. Tell these dry
bones to listen to the word ofthe Lord. Tell them that I, the
Sovereign Lord, am saying tothem: I am going to put breath

(01:29):
into you and bring you back tolife. I will give you sinews and
muscles, and cover you withskin. I will put breath into you
and bring you back to life. Thenyou will know that I am the
Lord.” So I prophesied as I hadbeen told. While I was speaking,
I heard a rattling noise, andthe bones began to join
together. While I watched, thebones were covered with sinews

(01:51):
and muscles, and then with skin. But there was no breath in the
bodies. God said to me, “Mortalman, prophesy to the wind. Tell
the wind that the Sovereign Lordcommands it to come from every
direction, to breathe into thesedead bodies, and to bring them
back to life.” So I prophesiedas I had been told. Breath

(02:11):
entered the bodies, and theycame to life and stood up. There
were enough of them to form anarmy. God said to me, “Mortal
man, the people of Israel arelike these bones. They say that
they are dried up, without anyhope and with no future. So
prophesy to my people Israel andtell them that I, the Sovereign
Lord, am going to open theirgraves. I am going to take them

(02:32):
out and bring them back to theland of Israel. When I open the
graves where my people areburied and bring them out, they
will know that I am the Lord. Iwill put my breath in them,
bring them back to life, and letthem live in their own land.
Then they will know that I amthe Lord. I have promised that I
would do this—and I will. I, theLord, have spoken.” The Lord

(02:55):
spoke to me again. “Mortal man,”he said, “take a wooden stick
and write on it the words, ‘Thekingdom of Judah.’ Then take
another stick and write on itthe words, ‘The kingdom of
Israel.’ Then hold the twosticks end to end in your hand
so that they look like onestick. When your people ask you
to tell them what this means, tell them that I, the Sovereign

(03:17):
Lord, am going to take the stickrepresenting Israel and put it
with the one that representsJudah. Out of the two I will
make one stick and hold it in myhand. “Hold in your hand the two
sticks and let the people seethem. Then tell them that I, the
Sovereign Lord, am going to takeall my people out of the nations
where they have gone, gatherthem together, and bring them

(03:38):
back to their own land. I willunite them into one nation in
the land, on the mountains ofIsrael. They will have one king
to rule over them, and they willno longer be divided into two
nations or split into twokingdoms. They will not defile
themselves with disgusting idolsany more or corrupt themselves
with sin. I will free them fromall the ways in which they sin

(03:59):
and betray me. I will purifythem; they will be my people,
and I will be their God. A kinglike my servant David will be
their king. They will all beunited under one ruler and will
obey my laws faithfully. Theywill live on the land I gave to
my servant Jacob, the land wheretheir ancestors lived. They will
live there forever, and so willtheir children and all their

(04:21):
descendants. A king like myservant David will rule them
forever. I will make a covenantwith them that guarantees their
safety forever. I will establishthem and increase their
population, and will see to itthat my Temple stands forever in
their land. I will live therewith them; I will be their God,
and they will be my people. WhenI place my Temple there to be

(04:43):
among them forever, then thenations will know that I, the
Lord, have chosen Israel to bemy own people.”
Ezekiel, chapter 38. The Lordspoke to me. “Mortal man,” he
said, “denounce Gog, chief rulerof the nations of Meshech and
Tubal in the land of Magog.Denounce him and tell him that
I, the Sovereign Lord, am hisenemy. I will turn him around,

(05:06):
put hooks in his jaws, and draghim and all his troops away. His
army, with its horses anduniformed riders, is enormous,
and every soldier carries ashield and is armed with a
sword. Troops from Persia,Ethiopia, and Libya are with
him, and all have shields andhelmets. All the fighting men in
the lands of Gomer and BethTogarmah in the north are with

(05:28):
him, and so are men from manyother nations. Tell him to get
ready and have all his troopsready at his command. After many
years I will order him to invadea country where the people were
brought back together from manynations and have lived without
fear of war. He will invade themountains of Israel, which were
desolate and deserted so long, but where all the people now

(05:49):
live in safety. He and his armyand the many nations with him
will attack like a storm andcover the land like a cloud.”
This is what the Sovereign Lordsays to Gog: “When that time
comes, you will start thinkingup an evil plan. You will decide
to invade a helpless countrywhere the people live in peace
and security in unwalled townsthat have no defenses. You will

(06:12):
plunder and loot the people wholive in cities that were once in
ruins. They have been gatheredfrom the nations, and now they
have livestock and property andlive at the crossroads of the
world. The people of Sheba andDedan and the merchants from the
towns of Spain will ask you,‘Have you assembled your army
and attacked in order to lootand plunder? Do you intend to

(06:32):
get silver and gold, livestockand property, and march off with
all these spoils?’” So theSovereign Lord sent me to tell

Gog what he was saying to him: “Now while my people Israel live (06:40):
undefined
in security, you will set out tocome from your place in the far
north, leading a large, powerfularmy of soldiers from many
nations, all of them onhorseback. You will attack my
people Israel like a stormmoving across the land. When the
time comes, I will send you toinvade my land in order to show

(07:01):
the nations who I am, to show myholiness by what I do through
you. You are the one I wastalking about long ago, when I
announced through my servants, the prophets of Israel, that in
days to come I would bringsomeone to attack Israel.” The
Sovereign Lord has spoken. TheSovereign Lord says, “On the day
when Gog invades Israel, I willbecome furious. I declare in the

(07:25):
heat of my anger that on thatday there will be a severe
earthquake in the land ofIsrael. Every fish and bird,
every animal large and small, and every human being on the
face of the earth will tremblefor fear of me. Mountains will
fall, cliffs will crumble, andevery wall will collapse. I will
terrify Gog with all sorts ofcalamities. I, the Sovereign

(07:47):
Lord, have spoken. His men willturn their swords against one
another. I will punish him withdisease and bloodshed. Torrents
of rain and hail, together withfire and sulfur, will pour down
on him and his army and on themany nations that are on his
side. In this way I will showall the nations that I am great
and that I am holy. They willknow then that I am the Lord.”

(08:11):
Ezekiel, chapter 39. TheSovereign Lord said, “Mortal
man, denounce Gog, the chiefruler of the nations of Meshech
and Tubal, and tell him that Iam his enemy. I will turn him in
a new direction and lead him outfrom the far north until he
comes to the mountains ofIsrael. Then I will knock his
bow out of his left hand and hisarrows out of his right hand.

(08:34):
Gog and his army and his allieswill fall dead on the mountains
of Israel, and I will let theirbodies be food for all the birds
and wild animals. They will falldead in the open field. I, the
Sovereign Lord, have spoken. Iwill start a fire in the land of
Magog and along all theseacoasts where people live
undisturbed, and everyone willknow that I am the Lord. I will

(08:55):
make sure that my people Israelknow my holy name, and I will
not let my name be disgraced anymore. Then the nations will know
that I, the Lord, am the holyGod of Israel.” The Sovereign
Lord said, “The day I spokeabout is certain to come. The
people who live in the cities ofIsrael will go out and collect
the abandoned weapons forfirewood. They will build fires

(09:18):
with the shields, bows, arrows, spears, and clubs, and have
enough to last for seven years. They will not have to gather
firewood in the fields or cutdown trees in the forest,
because they will have theabandoned weapons to burn. They
will loot and plunder those wholooted and plundered them.” The
Sovereign Lord has spoken. TheLord said, “When all this

(09:39):
happens, I will give Gog aburial ground there in Israel,
in Travelers' Valley, east ofthe Dead Sea. Gog and all his
army will be buried there, andthe valley will be called ‘The
Valley of Gog's Army.’ It willtake the Israelites seven months
to bury all the corpses and makethe land clean again. Everyone
in the land will help bury them, and they will be honored for

(10:02):
this on the day of my victory.I, the Sovereign Lord, have
spoken. After the seven monthsare over, men will be chosen to
travel through the land in orderto find and bury those bodies
remaining on the ground, so thatthey can make the land clean
again. As they go up and downthe country, every time they
find a human bone, they will puta marker beside it so that the

(10:23):
gravediggers can come and buryit in the Valley of Gog's Army.
(There will be a town nearbynamed after the army.) And so
the land will be made cleanagain.” The Sovereign Lord said
to me, “Mortal man, call all thebirds and animals to come from
all around to eat the sacrificeI am preparing for them. It will
be a huge feast on the mountainsof Israel, where they can eat

(10:45):
meat and drink blood. They areto eat the bodies of soldiers
and drink the blood of therulers of the earth, all of whom
will be killed like rams orlambs or goats or fat bulls.
When I kill these people likesacrifices, the birds and
animals are to eat all the fatthey can hold and to drink blood
until they are drunk. At mytable they will eat all they can

(11:07):
hold of horses and their ridersand of soldiers and fighting
men. I, the Sovereign Lord, havespoken.” The Lord said, “I will
let the nations see my glory andshow them how I use my power to
carry out my just decisions. TheIsraelites will know from then
on that I am the Lord their God.And the nations will know that
the Israelites went into exilebecause of the sins which they

(11:29):
committed against me. I turnedaway from them and let their
enemies defeat them and killthem in battle. I gave them what
they deserved for theiruncleanness and their
wickedness, and I turned awayfrom them.” The Sovereign Lord
said, “But now I will bemerciful to Jacob's descendants,
the people of Israel, and makethem prosperous again. I will
protect my holy name. When theyare once more living in safety

(11:52):
in their own land, with no oneto threaten them, they will be
able to forget how they weredisgraced for having betrayed
me. In order to show to the manynations that I am holy, I will
bring them back from all thecountries where their enemies
live. Then my people will knowthat I am the Lord their God.
They will know this, because Isent them into captivity and now

(12:13):
gather them and bring them backinto their own land, not leaving
even one of them behind. I willpour out my spirit on the people
of Israel and never again turnaway from them. I, the Sovereign
Lord, have spoken.”
Ezekiel, chapter 40. It was thetenth day of the new year, which
was the twenty-fifth year afterwe had been taken into exile and

(12:35):
the fourteenth year afterJerusalem was captured. On that
day I felt the powerful presenceof the Lord, and he carried me
away. In a vision God took me tothe land of Israel and put me on
a high mountain. I saw in frontof me a group of buildings that
looked like a city. He took mecloser, and I saw a man who
shone like bronze. He washolding a linen tape measure and

(12:57):
a measuring rod and was standingby a gateway. He said to me,
“Watch, mortal man. Listencarefully and pay close
attention to everything I showyou, because this is why you
were brought here. You are totell the people of Israel
everything you see.” What I sawwas the Temple, and there was a
wall around it. The man took hismeasuring rod, which was 10 feet

(13:19):
long, and measured the wall. Itwas 10 feet high and 10 feet
thick. Then he went to thegateway that faced east. He went
up the steps, and at the top hemeasured the entrance; it was 10
feet deep. Beyond it there was apassageway, which had three
guardrooms on each side. Each ofthe rooms was square, 10 feet on
each side, and the walls betweenthem were 8 feet thick. Beyond

(13:44):
the guardrooms there was apassageway 10 feet long that led
to an entrance room which facedthe Temple. He measured this
room and found it was 14 feetdeep. It formed that end of the
gateway which was nearest theTemple, and at its far end the
walls were 4 feet thick. (Theseguardrooms on each side of the
passageway were all the samesize, and the walls between them

(14:05):
were all of the same thickness.)Next, the man measured the width
of the passageway in thegateway. It was 22 feet
altogether, and the spacebetween the open gates was 16
feet. In front of each of theguardrooms there was a low wall
20 inches high and 20 inchesthick. (The rooms were 10 feet
square.) Then he measured thedistance from the back wall of

(14:28):
one room to the back wall of theroom across the passageway from
it, and it was 42 feet. The roomat the far end led out to a
courtyard. He measured that roomand found it was 34 feet wide.
The total length of the gatewayfrom the outside wall of the
gate to the far side of the lastroom was 84 feet. There were

(14:49):
small openings in the outsidewalls of all the rooms and also
in the inner walls between therooms. There were palm trees
carved on the inner walls thatfaced the passageway. The man
took me through the gateway intothe courtyard. There were thirty
rooms built against the outerwall, and in front of them there
was an area paved with stones, which extended around the

(15:10):
courtyard. This outer courtyardwas at a lower level than the
inner courtyard. There was agateway at a higher level that
led to the inner courtyard. Theman measured the distance
between the two gateways, and itwas 168 feet. Then the man
measured the gateway on thenorth side that led into the
outer courtyard. The threeguardrooms on each side of the

(15:32):
passageway, the walls betweenthem, and the entrance room all
had the same measurements asthose in the east gateway. The
total length of the gateway was84 feet and the width 42 feet.
The entrance room, the windows, and the carved palm trees were
like those in the east gate. Here seven steps led up to the

(15:52):
gate, and the entrance room wasat the end facing the courtyard.
Across the courtyard from thisnorth gateway was another
gateway leading to the innercourtyard, just as there was on
the east gate. The man measuredthe distance between these two
gateways, and it was 168 feet.Next, the man took me to the
south side, and there we sawanother gateway. He measured its

(16:16):
inner walls and its entranceroom, and they were the same as
the others. There were windowsin the rooms of this gateway
just as in the others. The totallength of the gateway was 84
feet and the width 42 feet.Seven steps led up to it, and
its entrance room was also atthe end facing the courtyard.
There were palm trees carved onthe inner walls that faced the

(16:37):
passageway. Here, too, there wasa gateway leading to the inner
courtyard. The man measured thedistance to this second gateway,
and it was 168 feet. The mantook me through the south
gateway into the innercourtyard. He measured the
gateway, and it was the samesize as the gateways in the
outer wall. Its guardrooms, itsentrance room, and its inner

(17:00):
walls were the same size asthose in the other gateways.
There were also windows in therooms of this gateway. The total
length was 84 feet and the width42 feet. Its entrance room faced
the other courtyard, and palmtrees were carved on the walls
along the passageway. Eightsteps led up to this gate. The
man took me through the eastgateway into the inner

(17:22):
courtyard. He measured thegateway, and it was the same
size as the others. Itsguardrooms, its entrance room,
and its inner walls measured thesame as those in the other
gateways. There were windows allaround, and in the entrance room
also. The total length was 84feet and the width 42 feet. The
entrance room faced the outercourtyard. Palm trees were

(17:45):
carved on the walls along thepassageway. Eight steps led up
to this gate. Then the man tookme to the north gateway. He
measured it, and it was the samesize as the others. Like them,
it also had guardrooms, decorated inner walls, an
entrance room, and windows allaround. Its total length was 84

(18:05):
feet and its width 42 feet. Theentrance room faced the outer
courtyard. Palm trees werecarved on the walls along the
passageway. Eight steps led upto this gate. In the outer
courtyard there was an annexattached to the inner gateway on
the north side. It opened intothe entrance room that faced the

(18:25):
courtyard, and there they washedthe carcasses of the animals to
be burned whole as sacrifices. In this entrance room there were
four tables, two on each side ofthe room. It was on these tables
that they killed the animals tobe offered as sacrifices, either
to be burned whole or to besacrifices for sin or as
repayment offerings. Outside theroom there were four similar

(18:49):
tables, two on either side ofthe entrance of the north gate.
Altogether there were eighttables on which the animals to

be sacrificed were killed (18:56):
four inside the room and four out in
the courtyard. The four tablesin the annex, used to prepare
the offerings to be burnedwhole, were of cut stone. They
were 20 inches high, and theirtops were 30 inches square. All
the equipment used in killingthe sacrificial animals was kept
on these tables. Ledges 3 incheswide ran around the edge of the

(19:20):
tables. All the meat to beoffered in sacrifice was placed
on the tables. Then he broughtme into the inner court. There
were two rooms opening on theinner court, one facing south
beside the north gateway and theother facing north beside the
south gateway. The man told methat the room which faced south
was for the priests who servedin the Temple, and the room

(19:42):
which faced north was for thepriests who served at the altar.
All the priests are descendedfrom Zadok; they are the only
members of the tribe of Levi whoare permitted to go into the
Lord's presence to serve him.The man measured the inner
courtyard, and it was 168 feetsquare. The Temple was on the
west side, and in front of itwas an altar. Then he took me

(20:04):
into the entrance room of theTemple. He measured the

entranceway (20:07):
it was 9 feet deep and 24 feet wide, with walls 5
feet thick on either side. Stepsled up to the entrance room,
which was 34 feet wide and 20feet deep. There were two
columns, one on each side of theentrance.
Ezekiel, chapter 41. Next, theman took me into the central

(20:29):
room, the Holy Place. Hemeasured the passageway into it:
it was 10 feet deep and 18 feetwide, with walls 8 feet thick on
either side. He measured theroom itself: it was 68 feet long
and 34 feet wide. Then he wentto the innermost room. He

measured the passageway into it: it was 3 feet deep and 10 feet (20:47):
undefined
wide, with walls on either side12 feet thick. He measured the
room itself, and it was 34 feetsquare. This room was beyond the
central room. Then he said tome, “This is the Most Holy
Place.” The man measured thethickness of the inner wall of

(21:07):
the Temple building, and it was10 feet. Against this wall, all
around the Temple, was a seriesof small rooms 7 feet wide.
These rooms were in threestories, with thirty rooms on
each floor. The Temple's outerwall on each floor was thinner
than on the floor below, so thatthe rooms could rest on the wall
without being anchored into it.And so the Temple walls, when

(21:30):
seen from the outside, seemed tohave the same thickness all the
way to the top. Against theTemple's outer wall, on the
outside of the rooms, two widestairways were built, so that it
was possible to go from thelower story to the middle and
the upper stories. The outsidewall of these rooms was 8 feet
thick; there was one door intothe rooms on the north side of

(21:51):
the Temple, and one into thoseon the south side. I saw that
there was a terrace 8 feet widearound the Temple; it was 10
feet above the ground and it waslevel with the foundation of the
rooms by the Temple walls.Between the terrace and the
buildings used by the prieststhere was an open space 34 feet
across, along the sides of theTemple. At the far end of the

(22:13):
open space on the west side ofthe Temple there was a building
150 feet long and 116 feet wide;its walls were 9 feet thick all
around. The man measured theoutside of the Temple, and it
was 168 feet long. And from theback of the Temple, across the
open space to the far side ofthe building to the west, the
distance was also 168 feet. Thedistance across the front of the

(22:38):
Temple, including the open spaceon either side, was also 168
feet. He measured the length ofthe building to the west,
including its galleries on bothsides, and it was also 168 feet.
The entrance room of the Temple, the Holy Place, and the Most
Holy Place were all paneled withwood from the floor to the

(22:59):
windows. These windows could becovered. The inside walls of the
Temple, up as high as above thedoors, were completely covered
with carvings of palm trees andwinged creatures. Palm trees
alternated with creatures, onefollowing the other, all the way
around the room. Each creaturehad two faces: a human face that

(23:19):
was turned toward the palm treeon one side, and a lion's face
that was turned toward the treeon the other side. It was like
this all around the wall, fromthe floor to above the doors.
The doorposts of the Holy Placewere square. In front of the
entrance of the Most Holy Placethere was something that looked
like a wooden altar. It was 5feet high and 4 feet wide. Its

(23:42):
corner posts, its base, and itssides were all made of wood. The
man said to me, “This is thetable which stands in the
presence of the Lord.” There wasa door at the end of the
passageway to the Holy Place andone also at the end of the
passageway to the Most HolyPlace. They were double doors
that swung open in the middle. There were palm trees and winged

(24:04):
creatures carved on the doors ofthe Holy Place, just as there
were on the walls. And there wasa wooden covering over the
outside of the doorway of theentrance room. At the sides of
this room there were windows, and the walls were decorated
with palm trees.
Ezekiel, chapter 42. Then hebrought me out into the outer
court, by the way toward thenorth; and he brought me into

(24:27):
the chamber which was oppositethe separating courtyard, and
which was opposite the buildingtoward the north. Facing the
length, which was one hundredcubits (the width was fifty
cubits), was the north door.Opposite the inner court of
twenty cubits, and opposite thepavement of the outer court, was
gallery against gallery in threestories. In front of the

(24:48):
chambers, toward the inside, wasa walk ten cubits wide, at a
distance of one cubit; and theirdoors faced north. Now the upper
chambers were shorter, becausethe galleries took away space
from them more than from thelower and middle stories of the
building. For they were in threestories and did not have pillars
like the pillars of the courts;therefore the upper level was

(25:10):
shortened more than the lowerand middle levels from the
ground up. And a wall which wasoutside ran parallel to the
chambers, at the front of thechambers, toward the outer
court; its length was fiftycubits. The length of the
chambers toward the outer courtwas fifty cubits, whereas that
facing the temple was onehundred cubits. At the lower

(25:31):
chambers was the entrance on theeast side, as one goes into them
from the outer court. And therewere chambers in the thickness
of the wall of the court towardthe east, opposite the
separating courtyard andopposite the building. There was
a walk in front of them also, and their appearance was like
the chambers which were towardthe north; they were as long and
as wide as the others, and alltheir exits and entrances were

(25:54):
according to plan. Andcorresponding to the doors of
the chambers that were facingsouth, as one enters them, there
was a door in front of the walk, the way directly in front of the
wall toward the east. Then hesaid to me, “The north chambers
and the south chambers, whichare opposite the separating
courtyard, are the holy chamberswhere the priests who approach

(26:15):
the Lord shall eat the most holyofferings. There they shall lay
the most holy offerings—thegrain offering, the sin
offering, and the trespassoffering—for the place is holy.
When the priests enter them, they shall not go out of the
holy chamber into the outercourt; but there they shall
leave their garments in whichthey minister, for they are
holy. They shall put on othergarments; then they may approach

(26:37):
that which is for the people.”Now when he had finished
measuring the inner temple, hebrought me out through the
gateway that faces toward theeast, and measured it all
around. He measured the eastside with the measuring rod,
five hundred rods by themeasuring rod all around. He
measured the north side, fivehundred rods by the measuring
rod all around. He measured thesouth side, five hundred rods by

(27:01):
the measuring rod. He camearound to the west side and
measured five hundred rods bythe measuring rod. He measured
it on the four sides; it had awall all around, five hundred
cubits long and five hundredwide, to separate the holy areas
from the common.
Beloved, today, I'm going totalk to you about Ezekiel
chapters 38 and 39. As apreface, let me say that Russia

(27:25):
and its President Vladimir Putinhas been in the news over the
last year quite a lot because ofRussia's invasion of Ukraine.
Don't worry, I'm not going tocomment on that war because that
isn't what the Lifespring! OneYear Bible is all about. But
some people have the opinionthat Russia will play an
important role in the end times,so let's look at that, shall we?
Let me start by reading thefirst six verses of chapter 38.

(27:48):
"And the word of the Lord cameto me saying, 'Son of man, set
your face toward Gog of the landof Magog, the prince of Rosh,
Meshech, and Tubal, and prophesyagainst them and say, "Thus says
the Lord God, 'Behold, I amagainst you, O Gog, prince of
Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal. I willturn you about and put hooks
into your jaws, and I will bringyou out, and all your army,

(28:10):
horses and horsemen, all of themsplendidly attired, a great
company with buckler and shield,all of them wielding swords;
Persia, Ethiopia and Put withthem, all of them with shield
and helmet; Gomer with all itstroops; Beth-togarmah from the
remote parts of the north withall its troops—many peoples with
you.'”'" Okay, now, before Italk about the things we can

(28:34):
know from these chapters, I'dlike to share something written
by Bible commentator WarrenWiersbe, he wrote, “It’s
tempting to identify Rosh withRussia and therefore Meschech
with Moscow and Tubal withTobolsk, both cities in Russia;
but we would have a hard timedefending this on linguistic
grounds. This doesn’t rule outthe participation of modern

(28:56):
Russia, since it is located inthe north, but neither does it
demand it.” Okay, so from thescriptures we can't know for
sure that modern Russia is theland spoken of in these
scriptures. So let's look atwhat we can know. Ezekiel 14
through 18 says, “Thereforeprophesy, son of man, and say to

(29:16):
Gog, ‘Thus says the Lord, “Onthat day when My people Israel
are living securely, will younot know it? You will come from
your place out of the remoteparts of the north, you and many
peoples with you, all of themriding on horses, a great
assembly, and a mighty army; andyou will come up against My
people Israel like a cloud tocover the land. It shall come

(29:38):
about in the last days that Iwill bring you against My land,
so that the nations may know Mewhen I am sanctified through you
before their eyes, O Gog.” ‘Thussays the Lord God, “Are you the
one of whom I spoke in formerdays through My servants the
prophets of Israel, whoprophesied in those days for
many years that I would bringyou against them? It will come

(29:58):
about on that day, when Gogcomes against the land of
Israel,” declares the Lord God,“that My fury will mount up in
My anger."'" So from verse 16,we know that this will happen in
the last days. Now, I've saidmany times on this show that I
believe that we are in the lastdays. But I have also said that

(30:19):
I am not dogmatic about that. But so many things have happened
in the world since Israel againbecame a nation in 1948 that
it's hard to avoid the thoughtthat we are indeed living in the
closing days of history. Wedon't have time here to list all
the events. Entire books havebeen written on the subject.
It's an area that has a myriadof rabbit holes into which one

(30:41):
could invest a lot of time. Solet me just give you a list of
the things we can glean fromchapters 38 and 39. In chapter
38, verses 1 through 6, Gog, aleader from the north of Israel
will lead an alliance of nationsto attack Israel. These nations
include Persia, Ethiopia, Put,Gomer. Beth-togarmah, and many

(31:04):
peoples. Today, these landsencompass modern Iran, Turkey,
Libya, Ethiopia, and possiblyArmenia and Germany. And then in
chapter 38, verse 10, we learnedthat Gog's motivation will be
twofold, his own evil desiresand God's compulsion. Yes, as he
did with others in Scripture,God will cause Gog to do this.

(31:27):
And then verses 4 through 6 in38, we learned that they will
attack swiftly with a verypowerful army. And chapter 38,
verses 8 and 12 tell us that theattack comes when Israel has
become a nation and when theyare experiencing security,
safety, and prosperity. Verses12 and 13 of chapter 38 tell us

(31:48):
that other nations not involvedin the attack will try to see
how they might benefit fromGog's victory over Israel. And
then verse 16 of chapter 38tells us that God will defeat
Gog in a way that will bringglory to himself. Now to be
clear, we are not given enoughinformation to have any
certainty when this will happen. We can't say that the

(32:09):
Russian-Ukraine war are theprecursor to this battle. It's
possible that the battle spokenof here in Ezekiel takes place
before what is known as theGreat Tribulation which is the
final literal seven-year periodbefore Jesus returns to Earth.
It could take place in themiddle of that seven-year
period, or it could take placeat the end of the seven years.

(32:30):
Interestingly, Revelation19:17-18 and Ezekiel 39:17-20
are very similar. Revelationspeaks of the time at the end of
the seven years. Listen toRevelation 19, verses 17 and 18.
"Then I saw an angel standing inthe sun, and he cried out with a
loud voice, saying to all thebirds which fly in the

(32:51):
midheaven, 'Come, assemble forthe great supper of God, so that
you may eat the flesh of kingsand the flesh of the commanders
and the flesh of mighty men andthe flesh of horses and of those
who sit on them and the flesh ofall men, both free men and
slaves, and small and great.'”And then Ezekiel 39:17-19 says,

(33:12):
“As for you, son of man, thussays the Lord, ‘Speak to every
kind of bird and to every beastof the field, “Assemble and
come, gather from every side toMy sacrifice which I am going to
sacrifice for you, as a greatsacrifice on the mountains of
Israel, that you may eat fleshand drink blood. You will eat
the flesh of mighty men anddrink the blood of the princes

(33:34):
of the earth, as though theywere rams, lambs, goats and
bulls, all of them fatlings ofBashan. So you will eat fat
until you are glutted, and drinkblood until you are drunk, from
My sacrifice which I havesacrificed for you."'" And it
just might be that the battlewill take place after Jesus
reigns on Earth for 1000 yearsafter his return in Revelation

(33:56):
19. The fact is, we just do notknow many of the details that
God has in mind. For reasonsonly known to him, he only gave
us a very rough sketch with justenough details to know that
these events will happen, andthey will all be for his glory.
We're told in the book ofRevelation that at the end of it
all, we will praise him for allhe's done. Revelation chapter 7,

(34:19):
verses 9 through 17 says, "Afterthese things I looked, and
behold, a great multitude whichno one could count, from every
nation and all tribes and allpeoples and tongues, standing
before the throne and before theLamb, clothed in white robes,
and palm branches were in theirhands; and they cry out with a
loud voice, saying, 'Salvationto our God who sits on the

(34:42):
throne, and to the Lamb.' Andall the angels were standing
around the throne and around theelders and the four living
creatures; and they fell ontheir faces before the throne
and worshiped God, saying,'Amen, blessing and glory and
wisdom and thanksgiving andhonor and power and might, be to
our God forever and ever. Amen.'Then one of the elders answered,

(35:03):
saying to me, 'These who areclothed in the white robes, who
are they, and where have theycome from?' I said to him, 'My
lord, you know.' And he said tome, 'These are the ones who come
out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes
and made them white in the bloodof the Lamb. For this reason,
they are before the throne ofGod; and they serve Him day and

(35:24):
night in His temple; and He whosits on the throne will spread
His tabernacle over them. Theywill hunger no longer, nor
thirst anymore; nor will the sunbeat down on them, nor any heat;
for the Lamb in the center ofthe throne will be their
shepherd, and will guide them tosprings of the water of life;
and God will wipe every tearfrom their eyes.'” Beloved, I'll

(35:46):
say it again, I don't know whenthese things will happen. No one
knows but the Father. Butwhether it begins today, or at
some distant time in the future, they will happen as surely as
you're hearing my voice, rightnow. The question is, are you
ready? Are you prepared? 1Thessalonians 5, verses 2 and 3
tells us “For you yourselvesknow full well that the day of

(36:10):
the Lord will come just like athief in the night. While they
are saying, 'Peace and safety!'then destruction will come upon
them and suddenly like laborpains upon a woman with child,
and they will not escape.” Inother words, Beloved, once it
starts, it will be too late tomake preparations. So how do you

(36:30):
prepare? How will you escapedestruction? How can you be sure
that you will be one of thosestanding before the throne of
the Lamb who is Jesus? Well, ifyou've put your faith in him, if
you've asked him to forgive yoursins, if you've asked him to be
your Lord and your Savior, youhave nothing to worry about. You
have a place prepared for you inHeaven. Jesus said, “Do not let

(36:54):
your heart be troubled; believein God, believe also in Me. In
My Father’s house are manydwelling places; if it were not
so, I would have told you; for Igo to prepare a place for you.
If I go and prepare a place foryou, I will come again and
receive you to Myself, thatwhere I am, there you may be
also.” He said that in Johnchapter 14. Beloved, if you're

(37:19):
not sure that you're prepared,if you don't know that there'll
be a place for you in Heaven, you can get prepared right now.
How? Well, you have to believethat Jesus is who he said he is.
But it's more than that becauseeven the demons and Satan
himself believes that Jesus isthe Messiah. You must ask him to
be your Lord and your Savior.Have you done that? Do you want

(37:42):
to be sure that you're prepared? My suggestion is that you decide
right now. Why wait? What isthere to gain by waiting? Or
let's turn that question around. What is there to lose by
waiting? Well, just everything. If you wait, there's everything
to lose. When you decide now, tofollow Jesus, you have

(38:02):
everything to gain. All you haveto do is ask him, just a simple
prayer. Are you ready? Rightnow? Then pray with me. Dear
Jesus, I want to know that youare my savior and my Lord.
Please forgive me of all thesins I've done. I'm sorry for
them, Lord, and I turn from themnow. I give my life to you, and

(38:24):
I ask you to be my Savior and myLord. Please take my life from
this moment on and help me tobecome the person you made me to
be. I'm asking you to be my God,my Savior, and my friend. Amen.
If you prayed that prayer, andyou meant it, congratulations!
You have begun a new life. 2Corinthians 5:17 says,

(38:48):
"Therefore, if anyone is inChrist, he is a new creature.
The old things passed away;behold, new things have come."

3000 episodes I've produced hereat Lifespring! Media, but I'm
going to recommend you go totoday's show notes page to watch
the last speech that TuckerCarlson made before Fox News
fired him. I don't know whatyour opinion is of Tucker
Carlson, but he had some reallyexcellent things to say. And it
wasn't really a politicalspeech, per se. But he made some

(41:09):
points regarding good and evilthat very much parallel many of
the things that you've heard mesay here on the show. And even
if you're not in the UnitedStates, I think you'll find his
words to be important as well.I'll just leave it at that. But
I do hope you'll take about 30minutes to watch the video. I'll
have it posted atlifespringmedia.com/s13e209
