(00:20):
complete Second Kings with thereading of chapters 21 through
25. Before we get started, let'spray. Our Heavenly Father, we
thank You for Your Word, And forour time together And I pray,
Lord, that You would touch ourhearts And teach us today. I
pray this in Jesus name. Amen. All right, let's begin.
Second Kings chapter 21. Manasawas 12 years old when he began
(00:45):
to reign, And he reigned 55years in Jerusalem. His mother's
name was Hephzibah. And he didwhat was evil in the sight of
the Lord, according to thedespicable practices of the
nations whom the Lord drove outbefore the people of Israel. He
rebuilt the high places thatHezekiah his father had
destroyed, And he erected altarsfor bail And made an Astra as
(01:07):
Ahab, king of Israel had doneAnd worshipped all the hosts of
heaven And serve them. And hebuilt altars in the house of the
Lord of which the Lord had said,in Jerusalem will I put my name.
And he built altars for all thehosts of heaven in the two
courts of the house of the Lord. And he burned his son as an
offering And used fortunetelling And omens And dealt with
(01:29):
mediums. And with necromancers. He did much evil in the sight of
the Lord, provoking him toanger, And the carved image of
Asher that he had made. He said,In the house of which the Lord
said to David into Solomon, hisson, in this house, And in
Jerusalem, which I have chosenout of all the tribes of Israel,
I will put my name forever. AndI will not cause the feet of
(01:52):
Israel to wander anymore out ofthe land that I gave to their
fathers, if only they will becareful to do according to all
that I have commanded them. Andaccording to all the law that my
servant Moses commanded them, but they did not listen. And
Manasa lead them astray to domore evil than the nation's had
done, whom the Lord destroyedbefore the people of Israel. And
(02:14):
the Lord said by his servants, the prophets, because Manasseh
king of Judah has committedthese abominations, And has done
things more evil than all thatthe Amorites dead who were
before him, And has made Judahalso descend with his idols,
therefore, Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, Behold, I am
bringing upon Jerusalem AndJudah, such disaster that the
(02:35):
ears of everyone who hears of itwill tingle, And I will stretch
over Jerusalem, the measuringline of Samaria, And the plumb
line of the house of Ahab, And Iwill wipe Jerusalem as one wipes
a dish, wiping it And turning itupside down. And I will forsake
the remnant of my heritage, Andgive them into the hands of
their enemies, And they shallbecome a prey And a spoil to all
(02:59):
their enemies, because they havedone what is evil in my sight,
And have provoked me to angersince the day their father's
came out of Egypt, even to thisday. Moreover, Manasa shed very
much innocent blood, till he hadfilled Jerusalem from one end to
another, besides the sin that hehad made Judah to sin, so that
(03:19):
they did what was evil in thesight of the Lord. Now the rest
of the acts of Manasseh And allthat he did in the sin that he
committed, are they not writtenin the book of the chronicles of
the kings of Judah, And Manasaslept with his fathers, And was
buried in the garden of hishouse in the garden of Azusa And
Ammon, his son reigned in hisplace. Amman was 22 years old
(03:42):
when he began to reign, And hereigned two years in Jerusalem.
His mother's name was Miss Shulawith the daughter of Harrah's of
jock Bob. And he did what wasevil in the sight of the Lord as
Manasa his father had done, hewalked in all the way in which
his father walked And served theidols that his father served And
worshipped them. He abandonedthe Lord the God of his father's
(04:06):
And did not walk in the way ofthe Lord. And the servants of
Amman conspired against him Andput the king to death in his
house. But the people of theland struck down all those who
had conspired against King AmmanAnd the people of the land made
Josiah his son king in hisplace. Now the rest of the acts
of Amman that he did, are theynot written in the book of the
(04:28):
chronicles of the kings ofJudah, And he was buried in his
tomb in the garden of Azusa AndJosiah his son reigned in his
place.
Second Kings chapter 22. Josiahwas eight years old when he
began to reign And he reigned 31years in Jerusalem. His mother's
name was Jedediah, the daughterof a Daya of boss Kath And he
(04:51):
did what was right in the eyesof the Lord And walked in all
the way of David his father, Andhe did not turn his side to the
right or to the left In the 18thyear of King Josiah, the king
sent shaven the son of as Elia, son of mush Shulam, the
secretary to the house of theLord, saying, Go up to Hilkiah,
the high priest, that he maycount the money that has been
(05:12):
brought into the house of theLord, which the keepers of the
threshold have collected fromthe people, And let it be given
into the hands of the workmenwho have the oversight of the
house of the Lord, And let themgive it to the workmen who are
at the house of the Lordrepairing the house, that is to
the carpenters into the buildersinto the Masons, And let them
use it for buying timber inquarried stone to repair the
(05:34):
house. But no accounting shallbe asked from them for the money
that is delivered into theirhand for a deal honestly. And
Hilkiah, the high priest said toshave in the Secretary, I have
found the book of the law in thehouse of the Lord. And Hilkiah
gave the book to shaven, And heread it, And shape And the
secretary came to the king Andreported to the king, your
(05:56):
servants have emptied out themoney that was found in the
house, And have delivered itinto the hands of the workmen
who have the oversight of thehouse of the Lord, then shape
And the secretary told the kingHilkiah the priest has given me
a book And shape And read itbefore the king. When the king
heard the words of the book ofthe law, he tore his clothes,
And the king commanded Hilkiahthe priest And a hike him the
(06:18):
son of Shaphan, And Akbar theson of Mikayla, And shape And
the Secretary And Isaiah, TheKing servant saying, Go inquire
of the Lord for me And for thepeople. And for all Judah
concerning the words of thisbook that has been found for
great is the wrath of the Lordthat is kindled against us,
because our fathers have notobeyed the words of this book to
(06:39):
do according to all that iswritten concerning us. So
Hilkiah, the priest at a highcome at at bore And shaven And
his Aya went to hold the theprophetess, the wife of Shallum,
the son of Tikvah, son of herhas keeper of the wardrobe. Now
she lived in Jerusalem in thesecond quarter, And they talked
with her. And she said to them,Thus says the Lord, the God of
(07:00):
Israel, tell the man who sentyou to me that says the Lord,
behold, I will bring disasterupon this place it upon its
inhabitants, all the words ofthe book that the king of Judah
has read, because they haveforsaken me And have made
offerings to other gods, thatthey might provoke me to anger
with all the work of theirhands. Therefore, my wrath will
(07:21):
be kindled against this place,And it will not be quenched. But
to the king of Judah, who sentyou to inquire of the Lord, thus
shall you say to him, Thus saysthe Lord, the God of Israel,
regarding the words that youhave heard, because your heart
was penitent, And you humbledyourself before the Lord, when
you heard how I spoke againstthis place, And against its
(07:42):
inhabitants, that they shouldbecome a desolation And occurs,
And you have torn your clothesAnd wept before me, I also have
heard you declares the Lord. Therefore, behold, I will gather
you to your father's, And youshall be gathered to your grave
in peace, And your eyes shallnot see all the disaster that I
will bring upon this place. Andthey brought back word to the
(08:05):
king,
Second Kings chapter 23. Thenthe king sent, And all the
elders of Judah And Jerusalemwere gathered to Him. And the
king went up to the house of theLord, And with him, all the men
of Judah, And all theinhabitants of Jerusalem, And
the priests And the prophets, all the people, both small And
great. And he read in theirhearing all the words of the
(08:28):
book of the covenant that hadbeen found in the house of the
Lord. And the king stood by thepillar And made a covenant
before the Lord, to walk afterthe Lord, And to keep his
commandments And his testimoniesAnd his statutes with all his
heart, And all his soul, toperform the words of the
covenant that were written inthis book, And all the people
joined in the covenant. And theking commanded Hilkiah, the high
(08:50):
priest, And the priests of thesecond order, And the keepers of
the threshold to bring out ofthe temple of the Lord, all the
vessels made for bail for Ashra. And for all the hosts of heaven.
He burned them outside Jerusalemin the fields of the Kidron And
carried their ashes to Bethel. And he deposed the priests whom
the kings of Judah had ordainedto make offerings in the high
(09:12):
places at the cities of Judah,And around Jerusalem, those also
who burned incense to Baal tothe sun, And the moon, And the
constellations, And all thehosts of the heavens. And he
brought out the Asher from thehouse of the Lord outside
Jerusalem to the brook Kidron,And burned it at the brook
Kidron And beat it to dust Andcast the dust of it upon the
(09:32):
graves of a common people. Andhe broke down the houses of the
male cult prostitutes who werein the house of the Lord, where
the woman wove hangings for theAshura And he brought all the
priests out of the cities ofJudah, And defiled the high
places where the priests hadmade offerings from Geebo to
Beersheba, And he broke down thehigh places of the gates that
(09:53):
were at the entrance of the gateof Joshua, the governor of the
city, which were on ones left atthe gate of the city. How
However, the priests of the highplaces did not come up to the
altar of the Lord in Jerusalem. But they ate unleavened bread
among their brothers. And hedefiled tau fifth, which is in
the valley of the son of Hinnom, that no one might burn his son
(10:13):
or his daughter is an offeringto Molek. And he removed the
horses that the kings of Judahhad dedicated to the sun at the
entrance to the house of theLord, by the Chamber of Nathan
Mielec, the chamberlain, whichwas in the precincts, And he
burned all the chariots of thesun with fire, And the altars on
the roof of the upper chamber ofAhaz, which the kings of Judah
(10:34):
had made, And the altars thatManasa had made in the two
courts of the house of the Lord.He pulled it down And broke in
pieces, And cast the dust ofthem into the brook Kidron. And
the king defiled the high placesthat were east of Jerusalem, to
the south of the mount ofcorruption, which Solomon the
king of Israel had built forAshraf the abomination of the
(10:55):
Cydonia ins, And for ki Mosh, the abomination of Moab, And for
Milcom, the abomination of theAmmonites, And he broke in
pieces, the pillars And cut downthe ashram And filled their
places with the bones of men. Moreover, the altar at Bethel,
the high place erected byJeroboam, the son of the bat,
who made Israel to sin, thataltar with a high place, he
(11:18):
pulled down And burned, reducingit to dust. He also burned the
Ashura And as Josiah turned, hesaw the tombs there on the
mound. And he sat And took thebones out of the tombs And burn
them on the altar And defiledit, according to the Word of the
Lord, that the man of Godproclaimed, who had predicted
these things. Then he said, Whatis that monument that I see, And
(11:42):
the men of the city told him? Itis the tomb of the man of God
who came from Judah Andpredicted these things that you
have done against the altar atBethel, And he said, let him be
let no man move his bones. Sothey let his bones alone with
the bones of the prophet whocame out of Samaria. And Josiah
removed all the shrines, alsothe high places that were in the
(12:04):
cities of Samaria, which kingsof Israel had made, provoking
the Lord to anger, he did tothem according to all that he
had done at Bethel, And hesacrificed all the priests of
the high places who were thereon the altars, And burned human
bones on them, then he returnedto Jerusalem. And the king
commanded all the people keepthe Passover to the Lord your
(12:26):
God as it is written in the bookof the covenant. For no such
Passover had been kept since thedays of the judges who judged
Israel, or during all the daysof the kings of Israel, or the
kings of Judah. But in the 18th,year of King Josiah, this
Passover was kept to the Lord inJerusalem. Moreover, Josiah put
away all the mediums And thenecromancers, And the household
(12:48):
gods And the idols And all theabominations that we're seeing
in the land of Judah, And inJerusalem, that he might
establish the words of the lawthat were written in the book
that Hilkiah the priest found inthe house of the Lord. Before
him, there was no king like him,who turned to the Lord, with all
his heart, And with all hissoul, And with all his might,
(13:09):
according to the law of Moses, nor did any like him arise after
him. Still, the Lord did notturn from the burning of his
great wrath, by which his angerwas kindled against Judah,
because all of the provocationswhich Manasa had provoked him.
And the Lord said, I will removeJudah also from my site, as I
(13:29):
have removed Israel, And I willcast off this city that I have
chosen Jerusalem, And the houseof which I said, my name shall
be there. Now the rest of theacts of Josiah And all that he
did, are they not written in thebook of the chronicles of the
kings of Judah. In his days,Pharaoh, Nico, king of Egypt
went up to the king of Assyriato the river Euphrates. King
(13:53):
Josiah went to meet him, AndPharaoh Nico killed him at
Megiddo, as soon as he saw him,And his servants carried him
dead in the chariot from MegiddoAnd brought him to Jerusalem,
And buried him in his own tomb. And the people of the land took
Jehoahaz the son of Josiah Andanointed him And made him king
in his father's place. Jehovahhas was 23 years old when he
(14:17):
began to reign, And he reignedthree months in Jerusalem. His
mother's name was mutal, thedaughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
And he did what was evil in thesight of the Lord, according to
all that his father's had done. And Pharaoh Nico put him in
bonds at Riblah in the land ofEmeth, that he might not rain in
Jerusalem, And laid on the landattribute of 100 talents of
(14:39):
silver And a talent of gold. AndPharaoh Nico made eliaquim The
son of Josiah king in the placeof Josiah his father, And
changed his name to Jehovah him,but he took Jehovah has away And
he came to Egypt And died there. And Jehovah can gave the silver
And the gold to Pharaoh, but hetaxed the land to give the money
(14:59):
he called Turning to thecommander of Pharaoh. He exactly
the silver And the gold of thepeople of the land from everyone
according to his assessment togive it to Pharaoh Nico. Jehovah
Kim was 25 years old when hebegan to reign, And he reigned
11 years in Jerusalem. Hismother's name was Zubaida, the
daughter of padega of rumah. Andhe did what was evil in the
(15:21):
sight of the Lord, according toall that his fathers had done.
Second Kings chapter 24. In hisdays, Nebuchadnezzar king of
Babylon came up And Jehovah Kimbecame his servant for three
years, then he turned inrebelled against Him. And the
Lord said against him bands ofthe Chaldeans And bands of the
Assyrians And bands of theMoabites And bands of the
(15:44):
Ammonites And sent them againstJudah to destroy it, according
to the Word of the Lord that Hespoke by his servants the
prophets. Surely this came uponJudah at the command of the
Lord, to remove him out of hissight for the sins of Manasseh
according to all that he haddone, And also for the innocent
blood that he had shed, for hefilled Jerusalem with innocent
(16:06):
blood, And the Lord would notpardon. Now the rest of the
deeds of Jehovah Kim And allthat he did, are they not
written in the book of thechronicles of the kings of
Judah, so Jehovah can slept withhis fathers And Jehovah kin, his
son reigned in his place, Andthe king of Egypt did not come
again out of his land for theking of Babylon had taken all
(16:29):
that belonged to the king ofEgypt, from the brook of Egypt
to the river Euphrates. JehovahQin was 18 years old when he
became king And he reigned threemonths in Jerusalem. His
mother's name was Neustar, thedaughter of Al Nathan of
Jerusalem, And he did what wasevil in the sight of the Lord
according to all that his fatherhad done. At that time, the
(16:52):
servants of Nebuchadnezzar kingof Babylon came up to Jerusalem,
And the city was besieged, AndNebuchadnezzar king of Babylon
came to the city while hisservants were besieged again.
And Jehovah king, the king ofJudah, gave himself up to the
king of Babylon, himself And hismother And his servants And his
officials And his palaceofficials. The king of Babylon
(17:14):
took him prisoner in the eighthyear of his reign, And carried
off all the treasures of thehouse of the Lord, And the
treasures of the king's house,And cut in pieces all the
vessels of gold in the temple ofthe Lord, which Solomon king of
Israel had made, as the Lord hadforetold. He carried away all
Jerusalem And all the officialsAnd all the mighty men of valor
(17:35):
10,000 captives, And all thecraftsmen And the Smiths. None
remained except the poorestpeople of the land. And he
carried away Jehovah akin toBabylon, the king's mother, the
king's wives, his officials, Andthe chief men of the land he
took into captivity fromJerusalem to Babylon, And the
king of Babylon brought captiveto Babylon, all the men of valor
(17:58):
7000 And the craftsman And themetal workers 1000 All of them
strong And fit for war. And theking of Babylon made Matt Denia
Jehovah kins uncle king in hisplace, And changed his name to
Zedekiah. Zedekiah was 21 yearsold when he became king And he
reigned 11 years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Samuel,
(18:21):
the daughter of Jeremiah ofLibnah. And he did what was evil
in the sight of the Lord, according to all that Jehovah
Kim had done. For because of theanger of the Lord. It came to
the point in Jerusalem And Judahthat he cast them out from his
presence, And Zedekiah rebelledagainst the king of Babylon.
Second Kings chapter 25. NowZedekiah rebelled against the
(18:45):
Babylonian king. So when theninth year of Zedekiah as rule
on the 10th day of the 10thmonth Babylons, King
Nebuchadnezzar attacks Jerusalemwith his entire army, he camped
beside the city And built asiege wall all around it. The
city was under attack until KingZedekiah his 11th year on the
ninth day of the month, thefamine in the city got so bad
(19:07):
that no food remained for thecommon people. Then the enemy
broke into the city. All thesoldiers fled by night using the
gate between the two walls nearthe king's garden. The Chaldeans
were surrounding the city so thesoldiers ran toward the desert
plane. But the Chaldean armychased King Zedekiah And caught
up with him And the Jerichoplanes. His entire army deserted
(19:29):
him. So the Chaldeans capturedthe king And brought him back to
the Babylonian king who was atRiblah. There his punishment was
determined Zedekiah sons wereslaughtered right before his
eyes. Then he was blinded, putin bronze chains And taken off
to Babylon. On the seventh dayin the fifth month, in the 19th,
year of Babylons, KingNebuchadnezzar Nebuzaradan
(19:51):
arrived at Jerusalem. He was thecommander of the guard And an
official of the Babylonian king.He burned down the Lord's
temple, the Royal Palace And allof Jerusalem's houses. He burned
down every important building. The whole Caribbean army under
the commander of the guard toredown the walls surrounding
Jerusalem. Then Nebuzaradan, thecommander of the guard exiled
(20:14):
the people who were left in thecity, those who had already
surrendered to Babylons King Andthe rest of the population. The
commander of the guard left someof the lands poor people behind
to work the vineyards And thefarmers. The Chaldeans shattered
the bronze columns, the standsAnd the bronze see that were in
the Lord's temple. They carriedthe bronze off to Babylon. They
(20:35):
also took the pots, the shovels, the wick trimmers, the dishes,
And all the bronze items thathad been used in the temple. The
commander of the guard took thefire pans And the sprinkling
bowls which were made of puregold in pure silver, the bronze
And all these objects the twopillars the C And the stands
that Solomon had made for theLord's temple was too heavy to
weigh. Each pillar was 27 feethigh. The bronze capital on top
(21:00):
of the first pillar was four Anda half feet high. Decorative
lattices And pomegranates, allmade from bronze were around the
Capitol. And the second pillarwas decorated with lattices just
like the first, the commander ofthe guard also took away Surya
the chief priest, Zephaniah, thepriest next in rank, And the
three doorkeepers. Of thosestill left in the city.
(21:22):
Nebuzaradan took away an officerwho was in charge of the army
And five royal advisors who werediscovered in the city. He also
took away the secretary of theofficer responsible for drafting
the lands people to fight, aswell as 60 people who were
discovered in the cityNebuzaradan, the commander of
the guard took all of thesepeople And brought them to the
Babylonian king at Riblah. Theking of Babylon struck them
(21:45):
down, killing them in Riblah inthe land of Hadith, so Judah was
exiled from its land BabylonsKing Nebuchadnezzar put get
Elia, a hykeham son And shamansgrandson in charge of the people
he had left behind in the landof Judah. All the army officers
And their soldiers heard thatthe Babylonian king had
appointed get Elia as governorso they came with their men to
(22:08):
get Leia it Mizpah the officerswere Ishmael Nathan is son, Joe
Hainan, Korea's son, Surya canhumans son who was in a tougher
fight, And Jas Anya macrophytesson, get Elia made a solemn
pledge to them And theirsoldiers telling them Don't be
afraid of the Chaldean officialsstay in the land And serve the
(22:30):
Babylonian king, And things willgo well for you. But in the
seventh month, Ishmael, nothingis his son. And Alicia, his
grandson who was from the royalfamily came with 10 soldiers And
they struck get Elia And hedied. They also killed the
doodads And the Chaldeans whoare with him in Mizpah. Then all
the people young And old, alongwith the army officers departed
(22:53):
for Egypt because they wereafraid of the Chaldeans. In the
year that Abel meritech becameking of Babylon, he released
Judas King Jehovah can fromprison. This happened in the
37th year of the exile of KingJehovah can on the 27th day of
the 12th month. Evil Mara Adakspoke kindly to Jehovah akin And
(23:14):
seated him above the other kingswho are with him in Babylon. So
Jehovah can took off hisprisoner clothes And ate
regularly in the king's presencefor the rest of his life. At the
king's command, a regular foodallowance was given to him every
day for the rest of his life.
Today, I've got comments onchapters 22 And 25. In chapter
(23:36):
22, we see that Hilkiah, thehigh priest found the book of
the law of the temple. well, let's take a look at the context
of this discovery. The lastrighteous king before Josiah who
was the king that orderedHilkiah to begin repairing the
now dilapidated Temple wasHezekiah 57 years passed between
the end of Hezekiah his reignAnd the beginning of Josiah his
(23:57):
reign, And it was in the 18thyear of Josiah his reign that he
began the repairs. well, thatmeans that the temple had been
neglected for 75 years, it's nowonder that the book of the law
had been lost, right? It wasprobably even forgotten. And
it's quite probable that it wasthe only existing copy of God's
law. Think of it. At this point. There were hundreds of years of
(24:20):
Jewish history from the timethat God gave Moses the Tablets,
after miraculously deliveringthem from Egypt's Pharaoh to
King David to Solomon's buildingof the temple, And on And on up
until this King Josiah decidesthat the temple must be
repaired. God was certainlygracious that he preserved this
(24:40):
document. And now think aboutthis. Every copy since then came
from that long lost book. TheBible that you hold in your hand
is a treasure. It's life. It isthe Word of the living God. And
if it had not been for Josiah, his decision to repair the
temple, who knows where we'd betoday? But of course, God was
(25:02):
meant he always is faithful. Now, I'm a guy that likes
technology. I love that we haveaccess to just about every
version And every translation ofthe Bible because of the
internet. They are available onour desktop computers, our
notebook computers, our phones, our tablets, And most of them
are free. I love it. But Ideeply believe that everyone who
(25:25):
calls him or herself a believershould own at least one hard
copy of the Bible. Because whathappens if we no longer have
access to those electroniccopies that could happen?
Internet censorship, Israel insome areas of the world, And it
could spread. As a matter offact, I believe that when the
Antichrist takes over, he'sgoing to make it so that Bibles
(25:46):
will disappear from whatever theinternet is at that time. So
then where would we be, we'llonly have the printed word. Even
if that doesn't happen in ourlifetime, we should still have
at least one printed Bible. There's something special about
holding the book in your hands. It is truly an awesome
experience to leave through thepages of a well worn Bible And
(26:10):
discover God's truths. I've gotshelves full of Bibles sitting
within easy reach of me rightnow, just four And a half feet
away. Each copy is special, butI've got a couple of Bibles that
I dearly love. And one of thembelonged to my great
grandmother. She wrote notes init as she read, And she has the
dates of the three times thatshe read through from Genesis to
(26:31):
Revelation. And I'll bet thatshe had no idea that one day her
great grandson would own herBible, And all pass that Bible
along to generations followingme Who knows how many
generations will have had herBible to look at to read to see
what her notes are? But it'samazing. It's it did makes me
want to cry right now. So thequestion is, will your
(26:54):
descendants have a treasure likethat? They could if you have a
hard copy of the Bible, And youmake notes And you pass it along
to your descendants, what atreasure. So my recommendation
for you is to have a printedBible. Right in it. Make notes
keep a sort of spiritual diaryin it, talk to generations yet
unborn. So now let's go tochapter 25 860 years after
(27:19):
Joshua led them into thePromised Land, the Jews lost it
because of their failure tofollow God's law. How many times
had God told him if you will, but turn from your wicked ways I
will restore you. But time Andagain, they went back to their
sinful ways like a dog returnsto his vomit. That is sad, but
it's a sobering reminder thateven though God is love, He is a
(27:41):
righteous And holy God. Patiencedoesn't imply weakness or the
condoning of evil. It doesn'tindicate forgetfulness. When
warning after warning is givenAnd then ignored, it should not
be a surprise when patience endsin judgment false. Some
Christians have a casualattitude regarding grace. They
think that because God doesn'tsend fire from heaven or he
(28:03):
doesn't cause the ground to openup And swallow sinners, that he
doesn't take sin seriously. Theythink that since Jesus paid it
all, quote, unquote, then sin isno big deal. well, nothing could
be further from the truth, sin,my sin, your sin, all sin is the
reason that Jesus was beatenbeyond recognition, And then
(28:25):
brutally nailed to a rough hewnsplitter field wooden cross in
the most brutal execution methodever designed by man? Do you
honestly think that God is softon sin? The only reason you And
I don't have to face theconsequences of our sin is
because of the infinitelyselfless sacrifice made by the
sinless Lamb of God, Jesus ofNazareth, the carpenter, the son
(28:49):
of Mary, the Son of the livingGod. Yes, he was And is God, but
he was also human. The prospectof making that sacrifice was
terrifying to him. Reread theprayer at the seminary, if you
doubt that, And as He hung onthe cross, he felt excruciating
pain. Is God's soft on sin? No,he's not God's judgment. All of
(29:13):
it fell on Jesus that day. Sothe grace that brings
forgiveness to me And to you, ifyou're a follower of Jesus was
not, And is not cheap. Don'tforget that. And always be
thankful for it. If you've notyet given your life to Jesus,
don't be like the Jews And thinkthat God's patience with you
means that he doesn't care. He'snot paying attention, or worse
(29:36):
yet, that he isn't there. Thinkabout it. The Jews were his
chosen people. He loved them, but he brought severe judgment
on them. The time eventuallycame when time was up And they
were taken into captivity. Eachof us will face the time where
our time is up. It might cometoday or tomorrow, next year or
(29:57):
50 years from now. Each of us isworking on finite time. Don't
let that time run out before youaccept the gift of grace offered
by Jesus that he paid so dearlyfor. You have any comments, call
