Numbers, chapter 25. WhileIsrael stayed at Shittim, the
people were not faithful to theLord and began to have sex with
the daughters of Moab. Theyasked the people of Israel to
bring gifts to their gods, andthe people ate and bowed down to

(00:45):
their gods. So Israel joinedthemselves to Baal of Peor, and
the Lord was angry with Israel. The Lord said to Moses, “Take
all the leaders of the people, kill them, and put their bodies
in the bright daylight beforethe Lord. Then the strong anger
of the Lord may turn away fromIsrael.” So Moses said to the

(01:06):
judges of Israel, “Each of youkill his men who have joined
themselves to Baal of Peor.”Then one of the people of Israel
came and brought a Midianitewoman to his family. Moses and
all the people of Israel sawthis while they were crying at
the door of the meeting tent. When Phinehas the son of
Eleazar, the son of Aaron thereligious leader, saw it, he

(01:27):
rose up from among the people. He took a spear in his hand and
went after the man of Israelinto the tent. Then he cut
through the bodies of both theman of Israel and the woman. So
the very bad disease that spreadon the people of Israel was
stopped. Those who died becauseof this bad disease were 24,000.

(01:49):
Then the Lord said to Moses,“Phinehas the son of Eleazar,
the son of Aaron the religiousleader, has turned My anger away
from the people of Israel. Hewas jealous with My jealousy
among them, so I did not destroythe people of Israel in My
jealousy. So say to them that Imake My agreement of peace with
Phinehas. It will be anagreement for him and his

(02:11):
children after him that theywill always be religious
leaders, because he was jealousfor his God, and did what he was
to do to pay for the sin of thepeople of Israel.” The name of
the man of Israel who was killedwith the Midianite woman was
Zimri the son of Salu. He was aleader of a father’s house among
the Simeonites. The name of theMidianite woman who was killed

(02:34):
was Cozbi the daughter of Zur.Zur was the head of the people
of a father’s house in Midian. The Lord said to Moses, “Be
angry at the Midianites andfight against them. For they
have brought trouble to you withtheir false ways. They have
fooled you and turned you to thewrong way. They have brought you
trouble at Peor with Cozbi, thedaughter of the leader of

Midian, their sister. She waskilled on the day the very bad
disease came because of Peor.”

and to Eleazar son of Aaron thepriest, “Take a census of the

Israel.” So Moses and Eleazarthe priest spoke with them in

and to a smaller group you willgive a smaller inheritance. To
each one its inheritance must begiven according to the number of

(10:24):
Aaron were born Nadab and Abihu,Eleazar and Ithamar. But Nadab
and Abihu died when they offeredstrange fire before the Lord.
Those of them who were numberedwere 23,000, all males from a
month old and upward, for theywere not numbered among the
Israelites; no inheritance wasgiven to them among the
Israelites. These are those whowere numbered by Moses and

(10:47):
Eleazar the priest, who numberedthe Israelites in the plains of
Moab along the Jordan Riveropposite Jericho. But there was
not a man among these who hadbeen among those numbered by
Moses and Aaron the priest whenthey numbered the Israelites in
the wilderness of Sinai. For theLord had said of them, “They
will surely die in thewilderness.” and there was not

(11:08):
left a single man of them, except Caleb son of Jephunneh
and Joshua son of Nun.
Numbers, chapter 27. Thedaughters of Zelophehad
approached; Zelophehad was theson of Hepher, son of Gilead,
son of Machir, son of Manassehfrom the clans of Manasseh, the
son of Joseph. These were thenames of his daughters: Mahlah,

(11:29):
Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, andTirzah. They stood before Moses,
Eleazar the priest, the leaders, and the entire community at the
entrance to the tent of meetingand said, “Our father died in
the wilderness, but he was notamong Korah’s followers, who
gathered together against theLord. Instead, he died because

(11:49):
of his own sin, and he had nosons. Why should the name of our
father be taken away from hisclan? Since he had no son, give
us property among our father’sbrothers.” Moses brought their
case before the Lord, and theLord answered him, “What
Zelophehad’s daughters say iscorrect. You are to give them
hereditary property among theirfather’s brothers and transfer

(12:12):
their father’s inheritance tothem. Tell the Israelites: When
a man dies without having a son, transfer his inheritance to his
daughter. If he has no daughter, give his inheritance to his
brothers. If he has no brothers, give his inheritance to his
father’s brothers. If his fatherhas no brothers, give his

(12:33):
inheritance to the nearestrelative of his clan, and he
will take possession of it. Thisis to be a statutory ordinance
for the Israelites as the Lordcommanded Moses.” Then the Lord
said to Moses, “Go up thismountain of the Abarim range and
see the land that I have giventhe Israelites. After you have
seen it, you will also begathered to your people, as

(12:54):
Aaron your brother was. When thecommunity quarreled in the
Wilderness of Zin, both of yourebelled against My command to
show My holiness in their sightat the waters.” Those were the
waters of Meribah of Kadesh inthe Wilderness of Zin. So Moses
appealed to the Lord, “May theLord, the God of the spirits of
all flesh, appoint a man overthe community who will go out

(13:17):
before them and come back inbefore them, and who will bring
them out and bring them in, sothat the Lord’s community won’t
be like sheep without ashepherd.” The Lord replied to
Moses, “Take Joshua son of Nun,a man who has the Spirit in him,
and lay your hands on him. Havehim stand before Eleazar the
priest and the whole community, and commission him in their

(13:40):
sight. Confer some of yourauthority on him so that the
entire Israelite community willobey him. He will stand before
Eleazar who will consult theLord for him with the decision
of the Urim. He and all theIsraelites with him, even the
entire community, will go outand come back in at his
command.” Moses did as the Lordcommanded him. He took Joshua,

(14:04):
had him stand before Eleazar thepriest and the entire community,
laid his hands on him, andcommissioned him, as the Lord
had spoken through Moses.
Numbers, chapter 28. The Lordsaid to Moses, “Give this

command to the Israelites (14:17):
Be sure to bring me my offerings at
the right times. They are myfood. They are offerings by
fire, a soothing aroma. Theseare the offerings by fire that
you must bring to the Lord.Every day you must bring as a

defects. Offer one in themorning and the other at dusk.

(14:41):

lamb 1 quart of wine. This willbe the monthly burnt offering
for every month of the year. Inaddition to the daily burnt
offering with its wine offering, one male goat must be offered to
the Lord as an offering for sin.“The fourteenth day of the first

is a pilgrimage festival. Forseven days you must eat only
unleavened bread. On the firstday there will be a holy
assembly. Don’t do any regularwork. Instead, bring the Lord an

defects. Along with them bringgrain offerings of flour mixed
with olive oil. Bring 24 cupsfor each bull, 16 cups for each
ram, and 8 cups for each of theseven lambs. Also bring one male
goat as an offering for sin tomake peace with the Lord. Offer

offerings by fire, a soothingaroma to the Lord. They will be
offered in addition to the dailyburnt offering and the wine
offering that goes with it. Onthe seventh day you must have a
holy assembly. You must not doany regular work. “During the

(17:33):
Festival of Weeks, you must havea holy assembly. On that day you
must not do any regular work.Bring the Lord your new grain
offering, the first produceharvested from your fields.
Bring a burnt offering as asoothing aroma to the Lord—two
young bulls, one ram, and sevenone-year-old lambs. Along with

(17:54):
them bring grain offerings offlour mixed with olive oil.
Bring 24 cups for each bull, 16cups for each ram, and 8 cups
for each of the seven lambs. Also bring one male goat to make
peace with the Lord. Offer theseanimals that have no defects
along with their wine offerings,in addition to the daily burnt
offerings and their grainofferings.”

(18:18):
Okay, last week in Numbers 22through 24 Balak tried to get
Balaam to curse God's peoplebecause he was afraid that they
were a threat to him becausethey were so numerous. Balak
wanted to drive them from hisland. He was sure that if Balaam
would curse them, he would beable to defeat them. But God
told Balaam that these were hispeople, and he shouldn't curse

(18:39):
them. God would not allow it.And he protected his chosen
people from those outsidethreats. But here in chapter 25
what happened? Israel brings acurse on themselves from God
because of their own behavior. They begin to commit sexual sin
with the women of Moabapparently in the service of

(19:01):
their god of fertilityBaal-Peor. Now, I've often heard
and you probably have, too, thatprostitution is a victimless
crime, especially if bothparties are willing
participants. Of course, that'shogwash. But I'm not here to
discuss prostitution and thedamage it causes. What I do want
to say is that God's judgment onIsrael as a result of this sin,

(19:24):
should tell you everything youneed to know about how the God
of the universe thinks about it.God told Moses to, quote,
"Arrest all the leaders of thepeople and hang them up before
the Lord in broad daylight sothat the fierce anger of the
Lord may be turned away fromIsrael," unquote. Those who had
a responsibility to lead thepeople in righteousness and who

(19:46):
seem to have even participatedin this great sin were to be
executed. And later in thechapter, we learned that God
sent a plague on the rest of thepeople. Twenty-four thousand
people died from the plague andit was only because Phinehas
killed, with a javelin, one ofthe Israelites and the Midianite
woman he was publicly having sexwith - where? - at the entrance

(20:10):
of the Tabernacle, that Godstopped the plague. Beloved,
sexual immorality is notsomething that should be taken
lightly. That's the lesson thatcomes through loud and clear.
But there is another lesson thatI mentioned in passing at the
beginning of my comments today.God did not allow Israel to be

(20:30):
attacked from without. Butbecause of moral and spiritual
breakdowns within, they almostcame to a terrible end. If it
wasn't for the zeal and theindignation of Phinehas, the
plague that God unleashed onthem might just have ended them.
It was the action of onerighteous man that stopped the

(20:50):
destruction of Israel. Beloved, hear me, we cannot stop praying
for our nation. Right now, I'mtalking mainly to people in the
United States. But for those ofyou around the world, don't go
away, keep listening. Lookwhat's happening around us. Look
at how far our morals havefallen. Look at the agenda of

(21:11):
those who want to prey on ourchildren with their perverse
desire to confuse them as towhether they're boys or girls.
This is evil, and it's perverse, and is completely counter to the
clear teaching of Scripture. Ournation is falling apart,
Beloved, in so very many ways. Our election system is under
attack. We have people in highpolitical office that hate our

(21:33):
way of life and the ideals thatour nation was founded on.
America is under attack fromenemies within. It has survived
attacks from without for overtwo hundred years, but it's in
danger of falling because oframpant immorality and hatred of
God within. We must not growweary in our spiritual warfare,
Beloved. We must be strong. Wemust speak out. Some of us need

(21:58):
to seek political office. All ofus need to stand in the way of
evil. With God's help, we canmake a difference. As Paul said
in 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, "We arehuman, but we don't wage war as
humans do. We use God's mightyweapons, not worldly weapons to
knock down the strongholds ofhuman reasoning and to destroy

(22:20):
false arguments. We destroyevery proud obstacle that keeps
people from knowing God. Wecapture their rebellious
thoughts and teach them to obeyChrist." Beloved, as Phinehas
stopped God's judgment onIsrael, I believe we can stop
God's judgment on America.Perhaps we are in the final
moments of time, and Jesus willsoon return, but we don't know

(22:42):
that for sure. What we do knowis that we're called to be salt
and light. We're called toproclaim the name of the Lord.
Will you stand? Will you speakout? Will you pray? And that
goes for people around theworld. What's happening here in
America is not entirely unique. There are leaders from around
the world, the World EconomicForum, these people are making

(23:05):
decisions and they're makingpolicies to destroy us, to
destroy you, no matter where youare. If you don't believe me, do
some research. But know this, itis evil. I believe that without
the people of God intervening inprayer, and in standing up
against them, the world we livein, in five years will be

(23:25):
completely different than theworld we live in today. What are
