En met welk onderwerp kunnen we nou beter aftrappen, dan met een absolute splijtzwam in de samenleving> Namelijk: taalregels. Want wat heeft het eigenlijk voor nut om militant te blijven benoemen dat het niet 'groter als jou' is? Moeten we dat niet gewoon maar toelaten, net zoals het achteloos verwisselen van 'hen' en 'hun'? Heeft het überhaupt zin hier adviezen over te geven?
Hierover vragen we Marten van der Meulen van Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen het hemd van 't lijf. Als promovendus onderzoekt hij relaties tussen taaladvies en taalwerkelijkheid. Ook bestudeert Marten de ontwikkeling van taaladvies in de 20e eeuw en doet hij corpusonderzoek om de variatie voor betwiste grammaticale constructies in kaart te brengen. Of is het Martin? Of Maarten?
Naast taalgebruik, passeert ook taalmísbruik de revue. Hij heeft namelijk een boek geschreven over vloeken.
Tot slot bespreken we ook nog eens 3d-printers met frituurvet, kijken we hoe je het snelst een vliegtuig krijgt volgepropt met passagiers en brengen we een ode aan Buienradar.
