Je hebt mensen die nadenken over hoe het zit. Je hebt mensen die uitproberen hoe het zit. Én je hebt mensen die ervoor zorgen dat die de ideeën die gevormd worden door de nadenkers worden getoetst door de uitprobeerders.
Dat laatste is wat Melissa van Beekveld van Nikhef doet. Zij slaat een brug tussen de theoretische natuurkunde en de experimentele natuurkunde. En vanuit Nikhef natuurlijk bezien tegen het allergrootste, het universum en het allerkleinste - subatomaire natuurkunde.
Dat betekent 3000 wetenschappers meekrijgen in één richting, verouderde computer software afstoffen en naar 2020 tillen en... geen vaste omlijnde onderzoeksvraag hebben, maar gewoon lekker vrij rondneuzen in alles wat natuurkunde is.
