In Talking MEWShop Episode 24, Josh Apter speaks with "Dope Thief" Editor Eric Litman, ACE. They highlight Editor Eric's journey from art to film, his upbringing, educational experiences, and the challenges faced in film school. Eric stresses the importance of collaboration in editing and storytelling, along with personal reflections on impactful films and experiences growing up in Philadelphia. For editing "Dope Thief," Eric leaned on his past as well as pushing the series forward with very distinct montages, fast-paced action scenes, and knowing when to let scenes breathe for incredible performances.
Eric Litman, ACE, is a seasoned editor and a proud member of the American Cinema Editors. He grew up outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and earned his BA in Film from Temple University’s Film and Media Arts School before receiving his Master’s in Editing from the prestigious American Film Institute Conservatory.
Eric’s editing career took off with "Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," where his work earned him a spot on the cover of Cinemontage in 2015. He played a key role in crafting many of the show’s most memorable premieres and finales.
Since then, Eric has edited a variety of fan-favorite series, including "Black Sails, ""Magnum P.I.," "Charmed, "and "Star Trek: Picard." In addition, he cut "The Hot Zone: Anthrax," a limited series produced by Ridley Scott’s Scott Free Productions for Nat Geo.
Currently, Eric is an editor on Netflix’s One Piece and the Apple TV+ series "Dope Thief," produced by Ridley Scott and Peter Craig.
