Gijs gaat op bezoek bij Jan Timman (73) in Arnhem. Hij is schaakgrootmeester en hoorde lang tot de absolute wereldtop. Al in zijn pubertijd verdiende hij geld met schaken en dat kwam hem goed uit, want hij wilde niet studeren. Timman beliep liever niet het gebaande pad en dat is nog steeds zo. ‘Ik leef buiten de maatschappij.’ Gijs spreekt met Timman over zijn beste schaakpartijen, zijn leven en zijn kijk op de wereld.
