身家万贯的马老板决定与夫人精抓自己孩子的成长教育，要走穷养路线，让孩子走过自己曾经体验的人生摔打。为了打造这个穷养环境，他夫妻两人搬到穷区小楼中，并雇佣大量师资，营养和保安人员进行伪装，打造一个属于穷人的生活环境，并精心为孩子马继业制造各种磨练的机会。马继业在贫穷中长大，变得懂事成熟，但在慢慢进入高考阶段后，发现生活中种种环境上的破绽，对自己的所属世界产生了巨大的致疑。
