Det startede alt sammen for 16 millioner år siden i det Sydlige Afrika. Og selv om Aloerne er endemiske arter, spredte de sig over tid langs den Afrikanske østkyst og pen række øger i det indiske ocean. Siden kom turen til Mellemøsten, hvor Aloe vera opstod som art.

Og her info om: Aloe polyphylla med dens ganske særlige rosetform. Den stammer fra Drakensberg-platauet i det sydøstlige Sydafrika . Hvilket også er her, hvor de to spurvefugle: Drakensberg prinia og Drakensberg siskin lever. Disse og podcastens andre fuglelyde er (med én enkelt undtagelse) fra xeno-canto.
