Aloe vera kender du jo nok... Men er du også med på, at der er 600 arter i Aloe-slægten? Det startede i det sydlige Afrika. Og selv om Aloerne er endemiske, spredte de sig i løbet af 16 millioner år på langs den Afrikanske østkyst, til flere øer i det indiske ocean og siden Mellemøsten, hvor Aloe vera opstod som art.
