What happens when an OG big dog in the football world clashes with the new guard? Sean dissects the face-off that erupted between Cam Newton, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter during the Colorado vs. UCF game over the weekend. Cam's blunt comments on Shedeur's lack of a defining victory ignited a midfield standoff that didn't sit right with Little. He also tackles the frustrating reality of how off-the-field controversies can overshadow careers, advocating for a re-focus on the impressive legacies of athletes. Is that the reason Sanders and Hunter felt they could act the way they did? Whether you're a die-hard college football fan or intrigued by athlete legacies, this episode promises to be a thought-provoking ride through the highs and lows of sporting excellence.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
no ketchup, no ketchup what's good my people
welcome into no ketchup.
Sports talk v Chicago littlethoughts.
When I got something weighingheavy on my heart, I'm gonna
come on and talk about it, andsomething that occurred this
weekend in central Florida gotme a little perturbed.
I'm talking about Cam Newton, shador Sanders, travis Hunter

(00:26):
situation.
I guess you could call it that.
I'm going to jump right into it.
We're going to try to keepthese brief Little thoughts.
You know what I'm saying Doublemeaning, little thoughts but I
don't want to go too long-windedon it.
But I got to touch on this.
So if you didn't see it it, ifyou don't know what I'm talking
about, cam newton the only camnewton that that is walking the

(00:49):
earth so you know exactly who Iwas speaking of was, uh, went
down to central florida to watchcolorado versus ucf.
Shadur sanders the buffs one ofthe hottest storylines smoking
in college football.
Of course you know primetimeDeion.
We're not hard to find Yada, yada, yada.

(01:11):
If you want to talk and findDeion Sanders and his son and
his other son and his other son, they're easy to find over in
Boulder, colorado.
And then they have a guy inTravis Hunter who is top of the
board when it comes to Heismanconsideration, when it comes to

(01:34):
the draft board, shador andTravis are expected to go high
in the first round.
We'll see how that ends upshaking.
So the buffs coming in, peoplethought they weren't going to,
they weren't going to win a lotof games.
They're now four and onethrough five.
So they're back being a big,big hot button talking point.
Have they beat anybody ofrecord?

(01:54):
Have they beat anybody worthreally chirping about?
Not yet.
I think that's a big thing andthat's kind of what Cam Newton
said prior to this UCF game.
Cam Newton came out and saidShador Sanders doesn't have a
signature win that he can hanghis hat on, amongst a couple

(02:16):
other things talking aboutShador Sanders, colorado Prime
and the gang not having a realwin to hang their hat on.
But this was more pointed atShador Sanders, shador gives me
Cam vibes in some ways.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
And I say this in relates to, obviously,
quarterback but I'm going to doit my way and I don't give a
damn what y'all say.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
And it's like a lot of people might not like.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
Cam.
But it's like I've got to do itmy way and I don't give a damn
what y'all say.
And it's like a lot of peoplemight not like Cam, but it's
like I gotta respect him.
I got to you know what I'msaying?

Speaker 1 (02:52):
Yeah, look, my whole thing with Shador is this you
followed him since he was atJackson State, correct?

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Yeah, even when he was in high school.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
Right, correct, yeah, even when he was in high school
.
Right, yeah.
What win can he hang like?
What performance can you?

Speaker 3 (03:10):
hang your hat on.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
Can you hang your hat on in college?

Speaker 3 (03:12):
Yeah, the only thing I have was like that TCU or that
Nebraska game.
His first year this year.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
We're talking about TCU, and they ended up not being
a good team.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
Yeah, nebraska last year was so poor, ain't like he
beat, that's true.
And you can't say well you wasat Auburn, he was at Colorado.
It was like Auburn wasn't nofavorite to win.
Before you got there, nobodywas picking Auburn to win the
national championship For sure.
I don't even think they eventhought y'all was going to have

(03:47):
a winning season before you got.
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
It was motherfuckers on our team that didn't even
think that we was capable of.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
That's facts.
And y'all was in the tougherdivision.
My bad boy?
Hey, you know what I'm saying,my bad man, he ain't no boy.
That, my bad boy?
Hey, you know what I'm saying,my bad man, he ain't no boy.
That's cool.
I'm just saying, though, yousaid so much, I'm not even
saying it.
What I'm not even saying, man.
All I'ma say is this and don'tget it mistaken, there's Beeman
over there.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Be careful with them.
Comparisons Ah.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
My bad boy, don't hurt me.
So of course, shadur, becauseit's clear that, no matter what,
anytime anybody says anythingabout Colorado, deion Sanders,
primetime, the Buffs, theprogram Shador and one of my
favorite athletes of all time,Deion Sanders they hear it, they

(04:39):
talk about it, they haveconversations about how you know
it's us against the world.
Everybody's hating on us.
We just got to go out there andkeep winning games and this was
no different.
Shador Sanders heard what CamNewton said, so he was going to
feel some type of way about itand it's been very clear.
Anytime Shador Sanders' namecomes up in a negative way, some

(05:02):
of it's warranted, I believe.
Like the Colorado Statequarterback came out and said
we'll see come game day and thentried to dap Shador up after
the game.
Shador wanted nothing to dowith it.
I think that's a littledifferent than this situation.
Cam Newton then shows up to UCF,goes out to midfield as Shador
Sanders is warming up.
Here's the video.

(05:23):
He goes out, tries to show somelove quote unquote to Shadur
Sanders.
Shadur wasn't feeling it.
Here's the clip.
It's pretty clear how Shadurfelt about Cam coming over.
Clearly heard the context andhim talking shit in Shadur's
eyes about him not having a winto hang his hat on.

(05:45):
Now you're at midfield on mySaturday, my game day trying to
dat me up.
I don't appreciate it.
I'm not really trying to feelit and if you're just listening
to this on Apple iPods, Iencourage you to go watch the
clip on YouTube at no Catch-UpPodcast on YouTube to get a
visual for what I'm getting at.
Shadur essentially blows himoff, waves him off, walks to the

(06:10):
end zone to continue to stretch, but it's very clear like he
wasn't going to sit there andhave a hee-hee, ha-ha
conversation with Cam Newton.
Now my problem, and what kindof perturbed me is, if you watch
this clip, it's pretty clear tome that Cam Newton is trying to
get out to midfield to showsadur sanders some love.

(06:33):
Hey, you're the up-and-comingguy, you're the man right now.
Good luck today, whatever.
Whatever he was gonna say, butit was clear that cam was coming
over there to have a positiveshow love type of conversation
with Shadur before the game.
Should he be doing that as thelegend?
Maybe, depending on thesituation, but I understand

(06:54):
trying to show love and it seemslike that's what he was trying
to do.
But maybe and maybe he didn'trealize Shadur was going to act
that way, or maybe he didn'trealize.
Him and Shadur had an issue.
Shadur made it clear he didn'tappreciate what he was saying
and then that was why he reactedthat way.
But then, cam, after you getblown off at midfield, you're

(07:14):
the legend big dog, you're theman, you're the guy.
You then, when Travis Huntercomes out to do warm-ups, you
then try to show him some loveand he blows you off too.
Do warm-ups.
You then try to show him somelove and he blows you off too.
Here's the clip of Travis Hunterand Cam Newton's interaction
pre-game Colorado UCF.

(07:35):
Now look, a big part of thisfor me that makes everything
about all the interactionsextremely lame is because
there's cameras all around atall times.
Cam Newton's got a guyrecording his every move, trying
to get content.
Shador and the Sanders guys areall about content, getting that

(07:55):
rolling off the field money, Iunderstand it, getting attention
for the NIL, for the Universityof Colorado, but nothing ever
feels genuine anymore.
It wasn't like Cam was pullingup to Shadur or Travis like yo
go get him.
If you misunderstood what I wassaying or you didn't appreciate
what I was saying, we can havea conversation about that too.

(08:17):
But how I see it is Cam'strying to get some content going
up to the now it guy in ShadurSanders pregame and chopping it
up with him.
He's having it be recorded andeverything.
There's cameras all over theplace.
They're not network cameras, they're personal cameras.
Shador is then thinking Ididn't appreciate what you said

(08:38):
and I got a guy following me forcontent and it would probably
look better for my content andme and potentially even go viral
if I blow Cam Newton off.
So I'm going to do it that way.
Travis Hunter pregame.
This is closer to the game timebut Cam still has that Cam his

(09:00):
content guy with him.
He's still watching this wholeinteraction with Travis.
Travis is not going for it,he's waving him off and it's
almost like for the internet.
It would be cool for me to blowoff Cam Newton instead of show
Cam Newton love.
To blow off Cam Newton insteadof show Cam Newton love,

(09:21):
especially with his boy overhere recording every word and
every visual aspect that'shappening pregame.
Oh and, by the way, I'm stillplaying.
I'm the man.
You're the old washed up guy.
I think that's part of thementality of the whole thing,
including the extra element ofeverybody trying to shoot
content, including the extraelement of everybody trying to

(09:42):
shoot content.
But regardless of all that, shadur Sanders and Travis Hunter
should be showing Cam Newtonsome more respect.
In my opinion, we're talkingabout a Heisman Trophy, winning
national championship, firstoverall pick.
Nfl MVP that won the NFC had aSuper Bowl appearance.
Travis Hunter in that same gamedid the Heisman pose against

(10:07):
UCF.
Cam already has one of thoseand he was beating Alabama on
the road to win it 4,500 totalyards, 54 touchdowns, 13-0 a
national title.
That was the run that he wenton to win the Heisman.
Travis Hunter's not there yet.
He's doing the Heisman pose.

(10:28):
He's going both ways.
I understand that.
He's a sensational player.
He's that guy.
Right now he's doing theHeisman pose against UCF.
Cam Newton won the Heismanwinning back-to-back weeks
against Georgia and then goingto Tuscaloosa and beating
Alabama, then beating Oregon inthe national championship by two
touchdowns and it wasn't eventhat close.

(10:48):
Let's do a little reminder onCam Newton and the guy that he
was in college.
I just laid out all theaccomplishments.
Let's talk about who was aroundhim on that Auburn team.
Gene Sizzik was the head coachof the Auburn Tigers that year,
in 2009,.
Before Cam got there, they were8-5.
Cam showed up in 2010.
Auburn Tigers went 14-0, wonthe title.

(11:11):
I just laid it out.
In 2011, cam leaves, they goback to 8-5.
In 2012, two years afterwinning the national title, with
Cam Newton at the helm, they gothree and nine.
Gene Shizik is never a headcoach again in college football.
In that 2011 draft, on a teamthat won the national title,

(11:32):
they only had two first roundpicks Cam Newton went number one
and then Nick Fairley, the Dtackle, went number 13.
Auburn didn't have anotherplayer in the first round until
2014, when Greg Robinson went, who wasn't even on that national
title team with Cam Newton in2010.
And then Dee Ford, who was onthat national title team but

(11:52):
only started one game and barelyplayed Before Cam Newton showed
up.
They hadn't had a first roundpick since 2007.
Ben Grubbs.
So what I'm getting at is Camshowed up with a lame duck head
coach, mediocre talent, went14-0 and won everything.
Had the best college season asa quarterback all time.

(12:15):
For me, joe Burrows is rightthere.
He was sensational that year atLSU, but he also had
unbelievable talent around him.
We know Jamar Chase, justinJefferson.
We know the whole story outthere at LSU.
I hate, I hate, I hate when theoff-the-field shenanigans off

(12:45):
the field shenanigans the offthe field talk around some of
these living legend superstarathletes becomes bigger.
The talk around them isn'tabout the accolades and what
they accomplished.
It's more about all of theother nonsense that is being
talked about Cam Newton's hair, fighting kids at camp, getting
waved off by Shador Sanders.
That's a perfect example ofwhat we're talking about.

(13:05):
When Cam Newton's name isbrought up now it's starting to
lean shenanigans more than firstoverall pick, nfl MVP, heisman
winner, national championshipwinner.
Not many players have thoseaccolades in the cabinet, in the

(13:26):
cupboard, like Cam Newton.
And if you ask the youngergeneration, when you bring up
Cam Newton, start to veer thatthey're not bringing up the
Heisman and all the phenomenalaccomplishments he had
throughout his career.
Perfect example is Antonio Brown.
When Antonio Brown's name comesup, it's all negative all the
time.
Now His CTE Brown.

(13:48):
They talk about his Twitterhandle.
He has a lot of off-the-fieldstuff.
I understand and I don't, andyou know there's a lot of
different things going on withthat.
I won't speak too much on that.
But either way, when AntonioBrown's name comes up, we don't
start talking football for threeor four points and I hate that

(14:09):
for Antonio Brown Six straightseasons and I hate that for
Antonio Brown and any otherathlete.
Antonio Brown six straightseasons, 100-plus receptions,
1,200-plus yards and eight-plustouchdowns.
He did that six years in a rowin Pittsburgh.
It was an absolute monster.
So I wanted to talk on thisbecause I don't feel like guys
of the stature like Cam Newtonshould be on the field looking

(14:32):
to dap up 19, 20 year olds.
Show them love.
Off to the side.
Don't make it about content andall this other stuff going on.
The cameras are there.
We all know this Cam Newtonbeing on the field at Central
Florida and going up to givelove to Shador Sanders and
Travis Hunter and those guysboth waving him off hurt my

(14:55):
heart.
Cam is one of those guys alltime and all this off the field
stuff is starting to take awayfrom that.
This is not just the onlyinstance that I think is pulling
away from the cam newton lurebecause he was one of the
all-time greats when it comes toplaying quarterback, especially
at the college level.
So those guys should beapproaching cam Newton seeking

(15:19):
him out.
Cam, any advice?
Cam, this Cam that it's theother way around and it really
rubbed me the wrong way.
Cam Newton and the rest ofthose guys should be treated
with respect from his youngfellows, because they're trying
to be what Cam Newton hasalready done Little thoughts.
