This week, Terrence wrapped up our Controversial Christianity series focusing on The Exclusivity of Jesus. He emphasized that Jesus is the only way to salvation, highlighting three core truths:
• Christian Truth #1: Jesus is the Exclusive Way to Salvation
• Christian Truth #2: Jesus Calls His Followers to Exclusive Relationship
• Christian Truth #3: Jesus Honors Our Choices and Excludes Those Who Reject Him
Terrence challenges us to resist cultural trends toward universalism and diluted faith, urging full commitment even when it leads to discomfort or conflict. Biblical references, such as John 14:6 and Luke 14:26, underscore the gravity and clarity of Jesus’s claims. Ultimately, the sermon calls for a radical re-centering of faith, elevating Jesus to the singular authority in one’s life. Believers are exhorted to evangelize boldly, pray fervently for loved ones, and stand firm in truth, even when it costs them relationships or comfort. We live in a world obsessed with inclusivity. Everyone is encouraged to find “their own truth,” and any claim to exclusivity is labeled intolerant. Yet Christianity makes exactly such a claim: Jesus is the only way to God. That belief, long central to the faith, is increasingly challenged both inside and outside the church. His message responds with urgency: if believers don’t have clarity, how can they share the gospel with conviction? The message’s aim is to anchor biblical truth in an age of relativism. As the series closes, believers are urged to resist the cultural urge to trade doctrinal clarity for comfort.
Christianity has always been controversial—and always will be. True compassion is not enabling falsehood but offering truth in love. Jesus Himself warned that following Him would cause division, even within families (Matthew 10:34–39).
“When truth feels costly, resist trading clarity for comfort. Instead, embrace faithfulness—led by compassion.”
