Speaker 1 (00:11):
Welcome to three sixty Rugul League from every angle joining
me again, the Great God and Tallo. Let's bring the
journals in, Poor Crawley and Dean Richie. We've got another
huge show. We're about to interview Nathan Cleary. We've got
Big Tino in Queensland camp coming.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Up as well.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
How good is Origin? It's on very exciting, two great teams.
I love the selections of both teams and yeah, looking
forward to it.
Speaker 4 (00:32):
Look at the blue side.
Speaker 5 (00:33):
It is powerhouse points, precision power. Gordy, I just don't
think you're going to be able to stop us. I
think it will be steamrolled.
Speaker 6 (00:41):
Couldn't stop you last year either, you didn't he loves
playing under dog.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
No, we couldn't stop you.
Speaker 4 (00:47):
But Gordy in the fair Dick mistakes, it is.
Speaker 6 (00:49):
A very well I was talking all my mates back
in town, said it must have been like playing against
Melvinegra and Jue Miles when Queensland had those big outside backs.
It's so hard to stop and like you two, that's
the most dominant side I've seen. In Game three it
was probably one of the greatest games. And it's back.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
It's gonna be a great series and I can't wait.
Let's cross into Blues camp now. Superstar half back Nathan
Cleary joins us from the ja IO True Blue. Mike, Nathan,
you've missed the last five origins.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
How good is it to be back in camp.
Speaker 7 (01:21):
Yeah, absolutely pumped to be back in camp, as you
touched on miss last five games. But yeah, you know,
just super grateful to back in this camp. Just been
putting on the gear and that it's just just a
mad feeling.
Speaker 8 (01:32):
So yeah, very happy.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Well it suits you and you deserve there's no doubt
about that, mate. Now, last year they obviously won the series.
Were you worried that you might not get picked for
this one?
Speaker 7 (01:44):
There's definitely a doubts there for sure, particularly after you
know the feet that news fail was pulled off last
year and both Mitch and Romy and the Harves they
did an outstanding job. So yeah, there's certainly doubts throughout
the year, particularly the way we started back at club Land.
But yeah, as I said, you know, just very grateful
for the call up and I think I'm definitely ready
to put him on my best performances and do our
(02:08):
best for the team.
Speaker 6 (02:08):
And nathink I, congratulations on being back at school to
hear does it matter with your game who plays six
with you, whether it's Mitchell or Lewis, Are you still
going to play your natural game or do you change
with who was going to wear the six?
Speaker 7 (02:25):
I think it's about burning that combination. You know, obviously
with a new combination with Mitch, it's new, but it
also brings up new opportunities and it's just about, you know.
Speaker 8 (02:33):
I understand each other's game.
Speaker 7 (02:34):
I've been a big admirer of Mitch's for a long
time now, and I understand the way he plays, and
I think so all the beauty of this combination is
we both both Mitch and I understand the game quite well.
So it's about bringing out the best in my six
and that's what I like to do, and unlocking them
so they can play their best game and looking forward
to doing other.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
Mitch, will you be the chief playmaker the boss?
Speaker 7 (02:57):
It's play a discussion to have over the next few days,
but yeah, I'd say so. But you know, there's going
to be times in the game where you know, we're
just gonna have to step up whoever's around the ball,
and it's about supporting each other and not letting you
know that egos get in the way. It's about, you know,
bringing out the best in each other, and I'm sure
we'll do that.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
Nathan Paul Crawley here just on that, Just can you
give us a bit of an insight into how you
and Mitch work that and how much detail goes into
your planning, Like do you meet after sessions and go
through how you plan to get this combination firing? Because
you haven't played football together, have you?
Speaker 7 (03:33):
No, we haven't, but yeah, we will be doing that.
Lots of discussions both on the field and off the field.
It's our first training session tomorrow, so it'll be good
to just get out there get a feel for each other.
And you know, we've already had sort of early discussions,
but quite brief, so I think once you get out
on the field and you sort of work out what
the flow is going to be like, and yeah, it's
just about us building that connection and talking about the
(03:54):
game and yeah, I'm confident that will work really well.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
Now if I'm really excited about the combination. That's the
last question I'm going to ask you about it. But
I just have to stay on it for a bit
because I think you two are going to work really
well together. And last night we interviewed a coach and
he kind of said that you both might pop up
on both sides of the field.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
Is could that be the case?
Speaker 7 (04:16):
Yeah, well, I think that's the idea, you know, as
I sort of touched it. I think Mitch and I
both have a pretty good feel of the game. So
it's about sort of understand the moment and yeah, just
sort of compliment each other's game, whether that's on the
left side of the field of the right side, and yeah,
just sort of following each other around when we can.
And yeah, I'm very excited as well. I think it
will be Yeah, really, I think it'll be fun to
(04:37):
be honest.
Speaker 5 (04:37):
So yeah, Nathan new South Wales kicking game.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
Will you share the responsibilities?
Speaker 7 (04:47):
Yeah, I think that's the planner. I think it'd be
mad not to. You know, everyone's seen Mitch's kicking game.
It's outstanding. So again, it's about complaying each other. It's
sort of just feeling the game, feeling when the right
time is to kick and who's doing it. But yeah,
it's it's a luxury to have both options there.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
Nathan Laurie Daily was speaking today about the phone call
he made to Jerome when he when he missed out
on the team, and and what I took away from
it was Jerome's response how he he just said, well,
I'm in charge of my selection, meaning his form, and
he just it was just a really, really wonderful way
to sum it up.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
But did you feel for him a little bit too?
Speaker 8 (05:27):
Oh?
Speaker 7 (05:27):
First, So there's no surprise that Jerome would say that,
you know, he's he's the game. His game has matured
so much, has matured so much as a leader, and
you know, at the end of the day, he's he's
always in full control of his game. And you know,
I think, you know, that's a it's a credit to him.
Speaker 8 (05:42):
The way he responded to that.
Speaker 7 (05:44):
You know, I think what he's been able to do
early in the year at the.
Speaker 8 (05:46):
Tigers has been incredible.
Speaker 7 (05:47):
And you know, I've got nothing but love and respect
for ROMI always. So, yeah, you know, it's difficult to
fit three in for two, but yeah, you know it's
a it's a luxury to have as well.
Speaker 6 (05:57):
And Nathan is is some corpse still haunting or because
you're playing Magic Ground. You played so many games there
that you sort of used to playing there with big
crowds now.
Speaker 7 (06:10):
I think it's exciting, to be honest, you know, it's
just the crowd and all that they're completely against you,
But I honestly think it's probably the best stadium in
Australia to played rugby league at. You know, it's a
bit of a different level playing origin compared to two
times like Magic Ground and versus the Broncos up there.
But yeah, it's definitely a challenge, but something yeah, I
sort of get excited about. It's one of the best
(06:32):
atmospheres that you ever feel like around the world.
Speaker 8 (06:35):
So yeah, it's just it's pretty special.
Speaker 4 (06:38):
And Nathan tell us about loss of mate.
Speaker 5 (06:40):
He's generally known as a great boke and one of
the best blakes in rugby league, but he's got a
steely sign to him.
Speaker 7 (06:46):
Yeah, it's an absolute legend. We probably haven't seen the
steely side as much yet. It's still sort of just
the early early sort of stages of camp at the moment,
and he's just building that connection. He does that so well,
just getting around the boys and really getting to know.
Speaker 8 (07:00):
I was young and had too much to do with him.
Speaker 7 (07:02):
So it's been a pleasure of the last sort of
forty hour hours to get to know him, and you know,
I've really loved how he's gone about it so far.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
Nathan, you're a special talent, mate, and you know you've
won the full Premiership, five Grand Finals. The bigg of
the moment the better you play now this Origin series,
do you feel like you're you're you're more equipped and
better prepared than ever before.
Speaker 8 (07:24):
Yeah, I think so.
Speaker 7 (07:25):
I think you know, with more experience you get that
sort of more confidence. But you know, just at the
end of the day, I just want to put my
best foot forward for the team. We saw what news
Feld was I able to do last year, and you
know that really inspired me to get back in the mix,
and yeah, I just want to be playing my best
footage to elevate those around me and vice versa. And yeah,
I'm just not taking.
Speaker 8 (07:45):
This moment for granted.
Speaker 7 (07:46):
You know, I've sort of had the last year where
I haven't been in camp and sort of watched those
games from the sidelines, and it's yeah, it's the best
time of year. It's the biggest games. You want to
be playing them, So looking forward to.
Speaker 4 (07:55):
It, Nathan.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
We spoke about Lorie Daily earlier and the sort of
coaching his Lory was on the show last night. He
was talking about Craig Bellamy's influence on him. Have you
had any conversations at all with Craig and does he
play any part in the way you know the game
plan works.
Speaker 7 (08:14):
Yeah, not really so far other than just sort of
saying hello and grating each other. You know, only just
got into camp up the Blue Mountains now today, last
or the last sort of twenty four hours been all
the media commitments and all that sort of stuff. So
I think the real footage stuff starts tomorrow and we'll
get a better idea of the influence Craig will have.
But just having someone like him around the camp is yeah,
(08:35):
it's amazing, you know. I've he's just got this sort
of aura about him what he's been able to do
down in Melbourne for all these years now. Whenever he
walks in the room, you sort of statu runs next
step just looking at him. And you know, I'm really
looking forward to learning off him too.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
Any good old bonding sessions gone on yet in camp,
anything to talk talk us through or share with us.
Speaker 7 (08:57):
I think they're a bit different than the ones back
in your day. Break Wall calm these days.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
Oh, sure, there's no doubt about that.
Speaker 5 (09:03):
You get a question you and Nathan, I've got to
ask you your lovely partner, Mary Queensland born. But it
sounds like from reports today she's seen the light. She's
come to her senses. She's now going to be a
mighty Blue. Tell her to walk them on board.
Speaker 8 (09:17):
I've welcomed her on board, don't worry, she said.
Speaker 7 (09:20):
She sort of said, She's like, I don't really support
you know, either team, So I'm like, well you have
to support the Blues then. But the only place she
knew before was Jonathan Thurston. That was the only place
she didn't really know much about rugby league. So I've
been teaching her. I've got to have to send her
a jersey over to England, I think, as well as
Blues one.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
So beautiful board. That's great.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
Doggie's just a bit obsessed with you or Mary had
you going over to Super early on in the to
go and live with us.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
So it'll happen one day. Wait, I'll tell he's got
no one anyway.
Speaker 5 (09:48):
I'm happy at the airport.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
Good your a legend, mate, We love you here and
go New South Wales.
Speaker 8 (09:55):
Go and kill him, mate, appreciate it. Thank you.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
There he is the king. You got it in, but
you got it in, Doggie, you got it.
Speaker 4 (10:02):
I've gone under water.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
I see you over the I'm thinking, is he going
to ask or not? He's been pretty obsessed with Mary's
obsessed at all.
Speaker 4 (10:10):
I just love you to have Mary on our side. Do
you think Kenes woman born and bred in coins and
now a beautiful blue right to a heart to take
that as the insult called?
Speaker 6 (10:19):
No, No, I don't because my dad paternity buried for
the Broncos of the Cowboys beat us in my last
game and he was the.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
Happiest man and the happiest man in town.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
Let's talk some footing there, Nathan, And he actually mentioned
ego there.
Speaker 2 (10:32):
He said the word ego, and.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
A lot of us have spoken about it, and it's
been reported and both him and Mitch putting their egos
aside and going out there for the betterment of the team.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
I've had no doubt about that. Anyway.
Speaker 1 (10:42):
I don't see much ego in either of these players,
but you know, he one of them needs to stand up.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
But he looks excited. I'm excited about it.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
He had genuine excitement in him about the combination linking
up with Mitchell Moses, it's going to be a really
important one. But can they make it work and can
they put their so called egos aside.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
That they have to make it work.
Speaker 3 (11:05):
What was interesting during that interview At one point he
did say when questioned, he said, well, if he assumes
he will be the lead man and he is wearing
the number seven jumper, but it is important and it
is like you can't ignore the fact that the two
of the best halfbacks the two best available halfbacks for
New South Wales. But does that necessarily make them the
(11:26):
best halves combination? Is I guess the question going into
the series and how quickly they can make you know
that connection because him and Jerome had played all those
years together, you know, since kids, five Grand Finals, four Premierships,
and it just doesn't come overnight. That's a luction on
the ball, Won'ty, Gordy the ball question? Brace your link
(11:49):
with Joey and Liam Martin and you think that Mitchell
with his leg speed would be more the player to
swing side to side a bit like Dylan Edwards, like Joey.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
You know, back in the day, Joey was always on
the ball, always happen. That's what I'm saying. He was
always in support. He was always playing off the nine.
He was always had the fullback on the inside or outside,
and then he'd look for his six. He six was
always the runner. His six was normally a bigger body.
Five ages traditionally were big. Mitchell Mases isn't small.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
He's big.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
He's probably faster than any other six, got better footwork
and great vision. So but for him, for Mitch, it's
it's less as more. I think he's just got to
focus on running early. He can't make errors in origin.
Nathan can control the team. And then if and eventually,
if they keep putting pressure on Coeensland with Mitch's running
game and the organizational skills of Cleary and there kicking game,
(12:41):
then they can knock the door down. Then Mitch can
take advantage, and so can can Nathan. Now, if looking
at both these players, I don't see you going in them.
Do you guys think there's any ego on either of
these players?
Speaker 3 (12:57):
Do you think there is? Let's be fair, Let's be fair.
Can there's plenty of ego in Mitchell Moses. You see
it every week. And I'm not saying it's a bad thing.
There's this odd but you needed to be a playmaker.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
You need to be.
Speaker 3 (13:11):
I think, I think, I think for sure he ken,
how could you not respect what Nathan Cleary has done
in the game Like that automatically makes you give respect
and put your ego in the back pocket. I also
think back to that the final what twenty minutes of
the Grand Final against the Broncos when Jerome left the
field and Cogger came on, and Cogger's ability to straighten
(13:36):
everything up brought Nathan's running game into that, and I
reckon like that might be what Laurie was alluding to
last night.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (13:45):
They have different personalities. I think we have to ensure
that is like a fact. Mitchell's more cockshaw, isn't it. Yeah,
Nathan's more reserved.
Speaker 5 (13:54):
I am told though inside the Blues camp that they
are being inseparable. I think they're trying to build bond
off the field, which, as you know, Gordy transfers onto
the field.
Speaker 6 (14:04):
There's no doubt me just looking at him. Nathan's on
the ball and I think Mitchell, we've better playing second fiddle,
not second fiddle, but out a bit wider, you know,
trying to organize players and when he puts his hand.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
Up he gets them.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
He didn't he did last year too, like he in
that was it the second or third game where he
scored that try, But he really he didn't overplay his
hand in that game.
Speaker 4 (14:24):
He kicked really well.
Speaker 3 (14:25):
He did everything right, but there was just that one
brief moment where he flicked the switch and he went
straight through. And he has got that brilliant ability to
bust a line. He's got different roles, which we know
that they will. They just have to do their own job.
Speaker 5 (14:40):
Don't have to worry about ego, who's doing water, who's
the dominant playmaker?
Speaker 2 (14:44):
Just do your job that.
Speaker 6 (14:44):
Can hurt the side. Just one boss. I believe there's
one boss because I heard austraight. So then if I
get back to mind, Nathan mate, when it was like
elf and or like so Ricky and Lourie worked Elf
and Lourie never worked or whatever, right, so like then
one boss they run the team and like whether it
was Wally long or whether it was yeah yeah right.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
So that's what you know, want too many chiefs? Do you?
One boss? That's right? What's Cockshaw mean by the way
you said confident. Okay, I just didn't know. All right
now the decision talking about I've never heard that before.
You're quite creative. The dictionary boys. I have to check
it out now.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
Jeron Law being dropped the incumbent five eight very unlucky. Really,
we've got two quality players, not only quality, two are
the best in the game that have moved in. Nathan said,
two dozen go into three. Three doesn't go unto two. Sorry,
So how do you feel? How do you feel about it?
I know it's it's a bit of a tough one
him being dropped after winning the three.
Speaker 3 (15:42):
It is one of had to come back into the team.
I guess I said it a moment ago. It's just
the question you have is that they are two great halfbacks,
but I don't think it necessarily makes them the best
halves combination. He certainly got the best kicking game, like
both of them have got the best on kicks in
the game, haven't they really? And they will you know
(16:03):
that they'll work it out their professionals. But it's just
that New South Wales would have had that immediate connection
if it had they had your run.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
But you suggest that it was a gamble. This is
a gamble.
Speaker 4 (16:14):
It it is a gamble.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
It is a gamble and it could pay off or
it could not pay well, it's a gamble because they
haven't played together previously, right, and Nathan just said that
they haven't played together and they're both dominant sevens.
Speaker 4 (16:27):
In their five side. Yeah, that's true.
Speaker 3 (16:30):
But I'm just saying there is a slight gamble their
dog and you can't ignore it because we've spoken about
it for the last ten minutes. You know how one
of them has to change their game. And Mitchell plays
that dominant seven role on the right side of the
field every single week and has done so since he
left the West West Tigers when he came through as
the five eight with Luke Brooks. But he has to
(16:52):
change what he does on a week to week basis.
They have to work out that connection.
Speaker 5 (16:56):
Mitchell had four triassists in the first half at the
MCG last year and then was one of the best
up there in Brisbane when won the series. I think
Mitchell Moses last year became a genuine Origin play. Did
he became an Origin player? If you play one Origin
game doesn't make you an Origin player. You got to
play a few and what he did last year. I
think Laurie thought, you know what, he's got to be
(17:17):
in my team.
Speaker 3 (17:17):
Well to the point Breath even asked Nathan then you
know about his selection and was there any concern that
he might miss out because Mitchell and Jerome did combine
that well together.
Speaker 5 (17:27):
Did lou I lose his position in effect because he
went to the Tigers?
Speaker 1 (17:32):
No?
Speaker 2 (17:32):
No, because he's played well this year.
Speaker 5 (17:35):
He wasn't had enough to say you think and a
team that wasn't in the top eight might have cost him.
Speaker 1 (17:41):
I mean because at the end of the day, not
only did he go to the Tigers, but.
Speaker 2 (17:46):
No, the Tigers were like the bulldogs and they were
sitting on top. No, I think they still go Moses
and Cleary.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
If you look at the Moses and Cleary both playing
great footy, it's so mouth watering.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
It has such big potential and.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
Such that these guys could really dominate series for three
or four years.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
That's a potential record coming back to you.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
But cause and you can finish this off, the risk is,
though you're right, it's a new combination never played before,
and they've only got to a next Wednesday to get
it right. You've got two dominant players who are playing
in the same position. So as much as it's exciting
and as much as it could be a huge success,
there is a percentage that could go the opposite way.
It could. I don't think it will, but there is.
Speaker 3 (18:32):
I don't think it will leave. Yeah, But to your point,
dog did it moving to the Tigers, Well, put it
this way. If he was still playing at the Panthers
and beside Nathan on a week to week basis, would
he be in the team.
Speaker 2 (18:43):
I don't reckon he would. Really, I don't reckon he would.
Speaker 5 (18:46):
I think he would have been harder to omit if
you're still at the Panthers.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
I don't think he would. I just think you said
it yourself.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
The way that Mitchell played in the in the side
of last year, the way he's playing for Paramatter, the
way that clearly you have to put Cleary in.
Speaker 6 (19:00):
Yeah, I think they've just picked Metri because Mitchell's only
what been back three weeks?
Speaker 2 (19:03):
Three? Yeah, Yeah, So it didn't matter how long it
was he playing with the Bang. Yeah, all right.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
Now, DC confirms he has spoken to not only the
Roosters but the Dolphins as well. The first time he's
spoken about this, I believe first day of camp for
Queensland or.
Speaker 2 (19:19):
The first time all the media could get ad him. Boys.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
Yeah, it's interesting, isn't it to bring that up on
the first day in Origin camp.
Speaker 4 (19:26):
This is what's going to happen until he makes his decision.
Speaker 3 (19:30):
Till he makes his decision, or until his decision is announced.
Speaker 4 (19:33):
Well either or either. It doesn't matter.
Speaker 5 (19:35):
Every time he goes to a press conference, whether it
be post game at Brookvale or after every man in
the game, or in every press conference in Queensland, he's
going to be asked the same question, why are we waiting?
Speaker 2 (19:46):
I don't understand.
Speaker 1 (19:47):
Okay, why didn't you just go on to camp and
say I'm here for Origin.
Speaker 2 (19:50):
I'm just going to focus on Orangin. That's Daily.
Speaker 5 (19:53):
Daily is an intelligent bloke, and Daily is a bloke
that won't shy away from the questions.
Speaker 4 (19:59):
To his credit, but he also I think enjoys a
little bit of.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
Th But he has for two months. Hasn't anyone asked
him this question the last tear. He's been asked after
every game break, but he's only answered it today.
Speaker 5 (20:07):
Well, no, we spoke about it when he left it Manly.
This is the first time he's mentioned the rootless.
Speaker 1 (20:13):
Saying I'm not talking about on TV. Yes we know that,
but he hasn't spoken about clubs, options or anything until today.
I'm not saying he's done the wrong thing, It's just
it's caught me a bit off guard. Why can't he
just announce where he's going? I understand what the Lakers, I.
Speaker 3 (20:29):
Don't understand it from both sides, Like if a deal's done,
like everyone assumes it is done.
Speaker 4 (20:35):
Why would you put it off?
Speaker 3 (20:36):
Like I actually think it only adds to the pressure
on Daily leading into this series because of everything that's
been happening at Manly and Manly well before last week's
hit back against the Cowboys, they're going pretty ordinary and
Daily was going very ordinary. And now he goes into
this series they lost last year's series. He's the skipper,
Like it can go two ways for Daily in this
(20:57):
In this series, he is the hero or is the villain?
And and if he doesn't aim up and if he
doesn't have a good series, and then the questions start
then about the roosters. Oh well, why are we buying
a thirty seven year old half back and we've got
these great young kids, you know.
Speaker 4 (21:12):
I just it just adds to them.
Speaker 1 (21:14):
Do you think it's an distraction Gordy from the Queensland?
Do you think it depends how.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
He addresses it in the group breath and that's and
that's the most important thing.
Speaker 6 (21:21):
Boys. They got to me today. I spoke about the risk.
I spoke it all depends. But it's a very mature
group too. Yeah, I mean there's a lot of wouldn't
worry Cameron Monster.
Speaker 1 (21:39):
In his mouthguard my place, Yes, Express post him up for.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
The game and he said that playing.
Speaker 6 (21:46):
In his mouth guard, Yeah, and he wasn't about I
think it's idea right because it's Queensland right. But I
don't think it's going to be a bigger issue than
what we think. I think daily is mistaken though. If
his theory is that he's not announcing it to.
Speaker 5 (22:02):
Disrespect or disrupt his time at Manly this year, because
it is disruptive.
Speaker 4 (22:08):
That's why I don't think what he's doing is working.
Speaker 5 (22:11):
If he's thinking it's just going to go away by
me not saying anything, it hasn't worked.
Speaker 6 (22:14):
But no disrespect to the Manly jersey. This jersey is
a bit bigger than that.
Speaker 5 (22:18):
Of course it is, but it's going to follow him
into camp Gordon day one and we're still talking about
not day two possibly And do you think.
Speaker 2 (22:26):
He needs to repay the faith to his coach Billy?
Speaker 3 (22:30):
I do, I do. I don't think he had the
greatest series last year. I didn't think his form, like
I said prior to last week, was good if you
were picking the Queensland team on form. Tom Didn's the
number seven this year and Billy stuck solid with him.
There's no questions there. But he has to go out
and he has to repay the case.
Speaker 1 (22:48):
I've got a question what happens if they lose Game
one at sun Corpse Stadium?
Speaker 2 (22:54):
Does he stay in the same.
Speaker 3 (22:55):
I can't see how Billy could drop him now that
he's gone with him like he's the skipper of the
side Gordon.
Speaker 2 (23:00):
Is it possible? It depends how he plays. I think
what if he just plays average? Then he plays I
think he's our captain. I think, you know, like in
game two, going wherever you go.
Speaker 6 (23:12):
And I think you need leadership and it alrea depends
how Tommy did and how they go back and then
don't forget it's how they go back and respond. You
know when we talk about Origin players, it's normally how
they go back and receive.
Speaker 2 (23:23):
He was under pressure. I said last week. No one
owns the jersey the Queens. No one does own the jersey.
Speaker 6 (23:28):
If we go get if we have the performance that
we did in Game two and we don't show up,
I think that they're all.
Speaker 2 (23:35):
I truly do think none.
Speaker 3 (23:37):
Queensland too, and particularly Cherry Evans and Cameron Munster and
Kleen Ponger and Harry Grant. Like you think about that
team and everyone's talking from a New South Wales perspective, We've.
Speaker 4 (23:47):
Got this unbeatable team on paper.
Speaker 3 (23:49):
You look at Latrell and Crichton and everyone, Nathan Clearing,
you think we can't be beaten.
Speaker 4 (23:54):
But we're not giving.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
Enough credit to the Queen look at their spine like
spot On Cross, like Kaylen Ponger has not been playing great,
but he's in an underperforming Newcastle team and we know
the bigger the game, the better he plays. He's a
rock star, superstar. He loves the bright lights. You've got
Cameron Munster who's in great form. You've got DC who's
in good form but loves Origin and probably is one
(24:18):
one of the most man of the matches.
Speaker 2 (24:19):
Then you've got Harry Grant at nine and we're where
they're playing at and they're playing at some court.
Speaker 1 (24:24):
Let's not lose focus here, Let's not take our eyes.
Speaker 4 (24:28):
To hear this. He wants you to talk them down.
Speaker 2 (24:30):
Let's talk them up. Just talk you guys up.
Speaker 1 (24:32):
You're right, and you know that's that's where we can't
fall into a false sense of you know, like New
South Wales and Laurie would know this, like look at
that spine.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
I mean even their pack.
Speaker 4 (24:45):
All talks been around New South I have fallen this
drapt before.
Speaker 6 (24:50):
Right because I think we've all gone into origin and
we've probably got a bit lucky and we've got there
because of what we've done in the Jersey in the past.
But you know, Newcastle last struggling. I reckon he's just
counted as lucky starts. He goes in and he just
gets around guys that are informing and young kids making
their taboo and it's just a totally totally different vibe.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
You think the Blues will target I.
Speaker 4 (25:12):
Think Braith, I think they'll try to find him.
Speaker 5 (25:15):
They roughed him up last year, lou I did he
won't be there this year. Crichton did, and I think
they'll go and target of course, but he's thirty six.
Speaker 4 (25:22):
Mother Lature doesn't lie, Gordy. And if he gets found out.
Speaker 2 (25:26):
This time, what's that the age? If you're up to that.
Speaker 4 (25:28):
Home move this week?
Speaker 2 (25:30):
He you know, he's old.
Speaker 5 (25:32):
I think the old boy's in for a tough rough
night and the Blues will go at in.
Speaker 2 (25:35):
Wow, you got the game plan written down there somewhere
that's for next week, cach Dog, case Dog? You okay?
Finishing up on DC?
Speaker 1 (25:43):
Then is he any chance of making an announcement at
all about where he's going or anything like that?
Speaker 2 (25:49):
Like we expecting this just to go all the way.
Speaker 5 (25:51):
Here, he's a bit of mail round break that it
might be the next couple of weeks or potentially after
State of Origin. I think once Origin three is done,
I reckon within a few days up that we will
finally get to find out where he goes to. Everybody,
particularly his club too, you know, and the fans at
that club, like it just needs to be put to
get when he goes away.
Speaker 3 (26:11):
Like I said it before the series on you, it
never going to happen. He was never going to pull
out of this series. But at thirty six years of
age and with the history behind him and giving in
his final year, I don't see how he goes back
from a grueling Origin series and plays better football at
the back end. But that's what he's going to have
to do, all right.
Speaker 1 (26:31):
What about Terrell May missing out on the Blues team?
A lot of outrage amongst fans, especially where Tigers fans
and all over social media. I run into people on
the street, that's why didn't he make the team? Look
at his stats, look at his run meeters, look at
his you know it. Really a lot of fans are
going crazy over this. What's your take on this? Should
he be in the team or shouldn't he have?
Speaker 5 (26:52):
They looked at some of his defense deficiencies.
Speaker 2 (26:56):
He made sixty tackles with no misses last week.
Speaker 5 (27:00):
I'm just saying he's got some defensive issues. Laterally, I
think that the Blues looked at he.
Speaker 2 (27:04):
Made sixty three tackles in the middle with no missles.
Speaker 4 (27:07):
I'm just saying an.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
I'm not blaming.
Speaker 4 (27:09):
I'm not saying one game.
Speaker 5 (27:10):
I'm talking about the entire season, and I'm not being
critical like I'm just simply saying that people are being well,
people are asking why he's not there.
Speaker 4 (27:17):
I'm trying to give him a reason why he's not critical.
Speaker 2 (27:20):
Then I'm just giving.
Speaker 4 (27:22):
You a reason why he may not have been picked.
Speaker 5 (27:25):
He's also got a couple of off field issues, which
he's not a perennial bad boy, don't get me wrong,
but there's a few.
Speaker 4 (27:31):
Eyebas been eyebrows being raised. He didn't help himself with
this seule, but like.
Speaker 6 (27:36):
He did apologize. So he's playing a video game right again.
I didn't know last night. I asked what it did,
and I watched it, and you know what, I'd be
disappointed if he said a Queensland jersey as listen, guys,
I'm playing a game.
Speaker 2 (27:47):
I did it? Is it that bad? There is a
backstory about that.
Speaker 1 (27:50):
Yeah, so I don't know any of the about he
bought a jersey for a mate. It was a Queensland supporter.
There was sarcasm behind it. There was a lot of
rumors and speculations around whether he's going to get picked on.
Speaker 2 (28:02):
The bin as a joke. Shouldn't have said it.
Speaker 1 (28:03):
Regrets it has come out and said that, can't take
it back. But I don't think that should cost him.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
He was also responding to the fact that the rumors
were out there, the male was out there, he was.
Speaker 4 (28:12):
Not going to make the team. I said a little
bit differently.
Speaker 3 (28:14):
I think he's been playing tremendous footy this year, and
like you said, Gordy, he plays for full eighty minutes
the other day, makes one hundred and sixty sixty six
tackles like He's done everything in his power to get
this spot. However, so has everyone else that's been a pick,
like Payne Haas is the first prop picked. Mix Barnett
played in the series last year, played well, has been
(28:34):
leading the Warriors without James Fisher Harras.
Speaker 4 (28:38):
And their shock.
Speaker 3 (28:41):
Up the top of the ladder. What third in the
comp or second in the comp. You've got isaiaho at Lock,
You've got Len You on the bench, doesn't play the minutes,
but has the impact.
Speaker 4 (28:50):
It was always going to be there.
Speaker 3 (28:51):
And Max King is in the Bulldog's team that leads
the comp and again has different qualities, but there's these
defensive areas of his game where he just puts in
and Laurie's backed him. None of those blokes don't deserve
their spot in the team total, and they've had proven
(29:12):
form over a period of time, and Terrorll's just got
to wait his turn.
Speaker 4 (29:16):
I'll tell you this.
Speaker 5 (29:18):
On Sunday at midday he was still heavily in contention.
Speaker 4 (29:23):
I know that for a fact.
Speaker 5 (29:24):
So he wasn't written off weeks ago with Summer suggesting
or even as Terrell thought himself. He was still right
in the frame at lunchtime.
Speaker 6 (29:31):
Mate, I think Billy shut us all up a couple
of years ago when I asked the question.
Speaker 2 (29:35):
He goes goodon and Origin Origin players miss out.
Speaker 6 (29:38):
There's some guys that just miss out, and Jerome Law
is one of those this year.
Speaker 1 (29:42):
The only thing I would say is that, like you said,
every player deserves that Max King great story should be there.
I just find a little bit interesting with him on
the bench as an impact. Coming off the bench, I
have a feeling he may start. I feel like you
could start him put Barnett back, you know, because he's
like a Chiwoivich in a way.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
King.
Speaker 1 (30:03):
You know, he's back when Chwous was in great form.
He doesn't miss his tackles. His work I think is incredible.
He makes plenty of meters. He's got great core values
in character, and he's you know, he's so reliable, and
I reckon if you put him on for the first
twenty like you do with Jake, and then you bring
those other forwards on for impact and you know with
an offload. That's where you know, I could kind of
(30:24):
see that happening. I could see Roll May doing that.
Even Colah Matan you But like you said, they could
have picked for him.
Speaker 4 (30:29):
He's another one. He's like, what did he do?
Speaker 3 (30:31):
Two hundred and seventy meters twenty seven runs on the
weekend like he could and could play on an edge?
Speaker 2 (30:37):
Now, bulldogs bite? What have you got for us?
Speaker 4 (30:38):
Are you bulldogs bite?
Speaker 5 (30:40):
I've said that the Queensland side, they're all goody two shoes.
I can't find someone in there to dislike.
Speaker 2 (30:46):
Have you seen that, Blake? Look at them?
Speaker 5 (30:49):
Jerry Evans, what have you Doneben down? Cherry Evans helps
old ladies across the street. Harry Grant, he puts his
jacket down, so old ladies they get their shoes. Well,
they're all our ambassadors. They all do already work. Where's
the hate God? Where are the Gordings? Where are the
Josh Maguire? Where's the night Miles where's the Barry Gomosoles will.
Speaker 4 (31:07):
Take anybody, Just give me some honey.
Speaker 2 (31:10):
Yeah, we'll be interviewing him soon.
Speaker 4 (31:11):
Look what happened to looks like Cindy ere Hey.
Speaker 2 (31:15):
But Jenna what hopefully hopefully you believe that?
Speaker 5 (31:18):
Well, can you name me one block that's easy to dislike?
Speaker 2 (31:22):
I like all those I love them?
Speaker 1 (31:25):
Actually, is this your version of the worst?
Speaker 2 (31:28):
It's against gotcha when they want because you've said it
a few times.
Speaker 5 (31:38):
Now an idiot would say that, and I learned my
lesson very very quickly. Well, this is another one for now.
I'm actually going the revers here. I'm saying how lovely
they are. It's a loving it's a beautiful story. It's
a beautiful photo. Beautiful, lovely, wonderful. Australians love them all.
We could have got an artist to put his toothing,
couldn't we?
Speaker 2 (31:56):
Another one of you missed?
Speaker 1 (31:58):
Stick around journe It's this Sunday, nine thirty pm. The
f one's hit Monaco Ozzy Oscar Piastre looks to go
