Speaker 1 (00:12):
Welcome two NL three sixty Rugby League from every angle,
brought to you by A Regain joining me again the
great good and talents. When the jener is in Buzzer
Rothfield and Bret Reid and semi final football is here.
All games are live on Fox League and it starts
Friday six twenty pm the Storm take on the Bulldogs.
Then Saturday two thirty pm the Warriors over there up
(00:34):
against the Panthers in New Zealand. Saturday seven fifty pm
it is the Sharks home to the Roosters and finishing
up in the nation's capital with the Raiders at two
thirty pm on Sunday taking on the Broncos Gordy.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
How good is this weekend going to be? Well?
Speaker 3 (00:50):
Absolutely some cracking games there, I think all of them.
On a nice said, if you had to pick one game,
you'd probably say Penrith, you know, over the Warriors for
their injuries. But those other games I think it's a
toss of a corner. It should be a fantastic series.
Speaker 4 (01:03):
Yea fascinating final series, particularly Melbourne Burst can both sides
out of form in recent weeks, so much hanging on
that result there.
Speaker 5 (01:12):
I'm looking forward to that Sunday game. Canro Brisbane down
on the nation's capital, those great size of the nineties
and so on, and I'm looking forward to that one.
Both be a belter.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
You're not excited about the now that it's official, but the.
Speaker 5 (01:24):
Roosters have made the finals, right, Yeah, Teddy enjoyed that today,
enjoyed How have you been giving me a stick a
weekly basis about it? No great job by the Roosters,
Robbo said. I've said for weeks on the Robbo's do
an amazing coaching job this year.
Speaker 4 (01:40):
I think Sam Walker, you did say he wouldn't play
this year, should arrested.
Speaker 5 (01:47):
To a mediate And I'm having to catch up with
him and send a photo to you both the Sammy
night together, just to show there's no we're on the
same page.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
The Roosters. Yes, a great men. Fred Freddie Filder, is
there a new feud? What's happening here? He's not talking
about No.
Speaker 4 (02:04):
I went out to Alliance to watch South's the other
night and I walked into the Ray Warrant Leadia Center
and there's a field channel longer. So Freddie hadn't said
any prolong time. Just it was just unpleasant it was
just unpleasant.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Did you have something to do with his bars?
Speaker 4 (02:22):
After he lost that series, I wrote an open letter
and said, thank you for your service. You've done magnificent
job in the community and all those bike rides he
went on. I said, but look it's time to hand
over another coach. And as you remember there, we had
some bit of combat with Brandy offside at the time too.
But that's our job.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
He's got to write. Do you think he's got to write?
Speaker 6 (02:44):
No? I think I've got to right to have an opinion.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
But do you think that he's got to write a reply?
Speaker 5 (02:50):
He's got a right not to like you? Buzz?
Speaker 6 (02:52):
No, I didn't say that. I didn't say that. I
knew you'd be on the Freddie Chairs squad. How many
people are you off?
Speaker 2 (03:01):
Like you like that?
Speaker 6 (03:04):
There's plenty off with I care about it?
Speaker 2 (03:06):
Good?
Speaker 6 (03:07):
Well, neither do I go.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
You've written excuse me, there's four games this week and
you're talking about a press box feu me.
Speaker 5 (03:15):
Yeah, yeah, I've got you.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
Can and can Every took center stage on Saturday and
there were plenty of questions at full time. Would Nikko
Hires be cleaned to play finals and have the Bulldogs
out smarter themselves at the worst possible time.
Speaker 7 (03:40):
Two sides bound for the finals. I know they are
locked and loaded for next week.
Speaker 5 (03:44):
The atmosphere is electric, but I have a look at
these panels tonight on the O of the finals.
Speaker 6 (03:48):
So much focus on both these half backs.
Speaker 7 (03:51):
So really just falling into the tackle that made it easy.
Jerry's knocked himself out in tackling Kranama. Ankinson hides this
time side bars Carnifer. I got that first try.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Why it's what a bar contella?
Speaker 4 (04:14):
Where that crane away?
Speaker 7 (04:17):
Jesse Radiant cembrates with a four pointer.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
He's market signing mid season and with forty minutes he
really needs to get this attack flowing.
Speaker 7 (04:30):
Last tackle. Cadgory counterdet side covers apart, puts a kick
through Preston Chaser's hard, it goes touching gone, he hides,
he said he is it up. Ratkinson cut it bar
Granoma is away back inside and Kinsid Scott's for Granama
(04:50):
twenty four.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
To six and okay.
Speaker 7 (04:54):
Alberts kicks a crossfield killed by Presid, who then drops it.
I can't believe that was a deliberate key.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
It's probably ow far.
Speaker 8 (05:01):
We just sort of didn't put too much emphasis on
the attack this week, and yeah, there was sort of
nothing to play for in that regard, so tighten it
up a little bit next week and the recent Melbourne
just a bit impatient with the ball, bit excitable. But
that's done now so we can get on the next
week now.
Speaker 7 (05:21):
I'm Montoya Isi Lippi.
Speaker 6 (05:23):
The report of nikol Hein, it's the.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
Same hip drop.
Speaker 7 (05:26):
Didn't seem to be two moves in that tackle.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
Twenty four chair of re Sis A big, big game.
It was the Kanala Sharks way too good for the Bulldogs.
We'll get to the Bulldogs, but let's start with the
Sharks and fresh manical reports. Clean Niko Heines for elimination
final and Buzz Rothfield, you.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
Were the man that broke this story. What went down here?
Speaker 4 (05:54):
Well, there's been a lot of controversy around it today
and fans at other clubs trying to understand how Nikko got.
I'll take you through it, Bye bye bye yesterday morning.
Canella get the charge cheat? Nico Heins got Grade two
dangerous contact. Okay, so he's out of the Rooster's semi
final if he accepts that. The charge Caronella contact the lawyer.
(06:15):
The lawyer says, start lining up your case, will fight it.
So they needed a medical report to check on Marcella Montoya,
these Sharks, I think it was the chairman, Steve Moyce
and Steve Mace rang Adam Jowissi the chairman of the Bulldogs,
and said if you've got the latest medical report on
the winger. He said, I'll check, and Toy got his
(06:37):
scans done yesterday. They came back nowhere near as serious
as Cindi smosis, season ending cindersmosis.
Speaker 6 (06:46):
It was actually a minus strain and.
Speaker 4 (06:48):
There it is there, there's all the detail from the
Bulldog's doctor.
Speaker 6 (06:53):
So what happened?
Speaker 4 (06:54):
Then Coronella thought, well, we've got to be a chance.
This is fresh evidence.
Speaker 6 (06:59):
So what they did. They have until mid day to
day to tell the NRL if.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
They're going to fight this or under the circumstances, they
can submit fresh evidence to the Match Review Committee, which
they did. The Match Review Committee, when determining the penalty
on Saturday night, took into account that the injuries suffered
was season ending. When they got the fresh evidence, they
(07:24):
start thinking, oh, we were tossing up grade two or
grade one. We'll go back to Grade one because it's
nowhere near as bad as we thought, and that's how.
Speaker 6 (07:33):
It played out.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
So I think all of us agree that it's the
right call. Is that fair to say with Nico have
been allowed to play this week? Yes, we all think
it's the right Do we think that this is a bit.
Speaker 5 (07:45):
On the pro because it's never happened before break This
is the first time this has happened in the history
of rugby league that the commit the Match Review Committee
made a change like.
Speaker 6 (07:55):
This, so it's not it It happened two weeks ago
with Stephen Crich.
Speaker 5 (07:59):
I know that's different the charge the charge, It was
a different rule In that case, the Commission came over
the top. In this case, the Commission wasn't involved. This
was evidence was supplied by doctor of a club to
change the grading, so it was different. People have said
it's the Peter ble Andy's rule that was used.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
It wasn't.
Speaker 5 (08:19):
It's a completely different rule that was used in this case.
So I think that's why people find it and buzz
I would say what happened a couple of weeks ago
as well. That sort of adds to the surprise that
this has happened two big decisions like this have happened
within two or three weeks of each other. I think
everyone goes well, but what the heck's going on?
Speaker 2 (08:37):
I think we'll keep on packing this buzz.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
Andrew Abda has supplied enter All three sixty a statement.
The Judiciary Code has always allowed the Batter Review Committee
to reassess charges and gradings based on updated medical reports
within certain time frames. When determining charges and gradings, the
MRC takes into account a number of factors, including the
nature of the offense, the risk of injuries the player,
(09:01):
and any instance of actual injury suffered. Judiciary medical reports
by club doctors are a tried to be provided to
the MRC. New information was provided to the MRC by
the club doctor which indicated that the injury suffered by
Montoya was not as severe as first reported. The MRC
then determined to reduce the grading of the charge based
(09:22):
on this new information. The Match Review Committee has acted
independently and entirely within the NRL rules.
Speaker 5 (09:30):
I think the issue here is breath. You're gonna have
situations where players are going to get charged for things
like this that lead to injury, and in some cases
you don't get the report until after the hearing's been done.
You don't get outcome of what the injury is like
until after the hearings taken place.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
Good clubs fake that the injuries are worse. I think
it should have just still run its process right. Don't
let us in on it, seriously, don't let us in
on it. Go that he gets off as a hip drop.
I didn't think it was a hip drop. So I
think we've got to keep on judging it on its action,
not on the injury.
Speaker 6 (10:02):
Injuries have always been taken into account. Just hold on.
Speaker 4 (10:05):
If there's a high tackle, no injury suffered, it's normally
a Grade one and a fine. If it's a high
tackle and someone breaks the jaw and the sideline for
eight weeks, he's obviously more so it was a turn. Well,
that's why Canterbury a professional club, and Canterbury have to
sort their team out.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
The gray area is the buzz is that if a
team like the Bulldogs just say it's anyone else if
they don't like each other roosters and solve those two
teams in there.
Speaker 3 (10:33):
Just for argument's sake, What do you reckon would happen
if they go he hasn't seen the doctor yet, but
we'll get the skins done on.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
Thursday, and if and if the injury information isn't available
quick enough.
Speaker 4 (10:47):
Then I think all clubs immediately after a game or
the next day will send their player for scams. And
there is time before Monday at midday to get an
assessment from the doctor. Get the phrase, get the scans,
whatever it is, and then use it if it's going
to work in your favor.
Speaker 2 (11:06):
Just give them the old scans, right, happy with the.
Speaker 5 (11:10):
Outcome both what what's the problem?
Speaker 6 (11:15):
Then?
Speaker 2 (11:15):
What's the I just think you have.
Speaker 5 (11:16):
Issues with consistency in this process and you are to
have situations where as I said, maybe you don't get
the rid of the outcome of an injury like this
until a week later, and then you really.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
All you can do.
Speaker 4 (11:31):
There was a misdiagnosis. When this injury happened on Saturday night,
it was feared the season ended. Scans happened the next day,
it wasn't a season ender.
Speaker 6 (11:40):
Still, I think, what do you got to think about
is still color?
Speaker 4 (11:44):
Yeah, the NRL prosecutor has to go if it gone
to the judiciary, had to go and argue why Nico
should be stood down for a week, right, that was
his job.
Speaker 6 (11:56):
He can't go in there without the medical evidence.
Speaker 4 (11:59):
So it was going to come out anyway, and he
was a very good chance of getting it down grade.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
Let's put the tin foil hats on. We're dogs happy
to see Hines play and.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
Roosters the roosters. Do they fear the roosters more than that?
Speaker 6 (12:16):
I honestly think that's.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
Just asking the question. I'm asking the question, why.
Speaker 4 (12:19):
Wouldn't they want Carona Cronulla had just flogged them twenty
four to six the previous night. Yeah, fair enough, I'm
asking the question. Yeah, what about you? Who would you
rather play sharks or written them both off?
Speaker 6 (12:36):
Silly questions?
Speaker 5 (12:37):
I'd probably right now, I'd probably rather play the Sharks.
Even as good as they were on the weekend, I
think the Rusters has got a bit more what about
you X factor about them?
Speaker 3 (12:45):
If you're looking on the last six weeks, the roosters
are probably even better for Sharks.
Speaker 5 (12:49):
So I don't think that's playing.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
What we're doing here.
Speaker 4 (12:53):
Can I just say something, You're challenging the credibility of
the doctor at Candle has been.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
You're saying he's doing this because you know we're asking
a question, just like you're allowed to.
Speaker 6 (13:07):
He's an independent doctor, right and the.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
Club doctor.
Speaker 4 (13:15):
Let me tell you now, I just think it's ridiculous.
I think it's fair and square that Niko is playing
this weekend. I actually congratulate Cronulla for being proactive and
the other bloke I want to get a wrapped to
his and Andrew where the chairman of the Canterbury Bog
who provided the medical agree.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
We all agree. Now you've you'll become a quite powerful
in this game coming. Looks like Judge Burchin last week.
You know you had the Crichton charge upgraded.
Speaker 1 (13:50):
Now you've had the Heins one downright.
Speaker 4 (13:53):
I've just explained step by step. I had nothing to
do with the Nickel Heins down and yes I did
write mat All you did was break the story exactly.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
That's always we're having some fun and.
Speaker 6 (14:06):
Makes different things.
Speaker 4 (14:09):
I wanted dress as a judge I did after we
lost our eighth Origin series and I had Jeff Carr
and I put on money.
Speaker 2 (14:18):
Yeah good, all right.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
Nico Hines was breeding a sigh of relief after today's decision.
Speaker 9 (14:23):
Take a look, yeah, very relieved. As twenty four hours
to be fair. Not much sleep has happening last night,
but yeah, very happy. And I didn't even know what
happened when Asher put me on report and I just
felt like I was making a cover tackle around the legs.
Obviously the momentum of me because I was moving so
fast around the legs maybe swung me around a little bit.
(14:44):
But yeah, after the game, I didn't think. I didn't
worry about At the end of the day, I think
common sense prevailed. And last year I didn't have a
run to the finals. I was out for those eight weeks.
So this year I've got some really good foot under
my belt going to this final series, so it'd be
much better for it. And yeah, we're looking forward to it.
Speaker 2 (14:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:58):
The Kanala Sharks that were very imp against the Bulldogs
Ken they beat the Chucks.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
Gordy, Oh look, I think they can are the Sharks well,
the way they played against the Dogs, they can, but
they were pretty ordinary. I think for about a month
they just sort of sat there and played. Maybe they
were waiting, you know how you just get those sides
and mentally they were waiting.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
They knew they were going to play finals. So I
think I think every side would really like their chances.
Speaker 3 (15:24):
I think it's the most open final series that I've
seen in a long long time.
Speaker 4 (15:28):
I think it could be the final of the weekend
this one because the way Kronella played and the Roosters
were so impressive against South so I know it took
them the second after.
Speaker 6 (15:37):
Really get on top.
Speaker 4 (15:39):
The Roosters are probably a bit more brilliant. Coronala are
probably a bit stronger down the guards. It's going to
be a fascinating contest.
Speaker 5 (15:47):
I think it's tough on the call brave. It wouldn't
surprise me by either of these sides. When I just
think the Roosters are maybe, as I said before, I
think they've just got a little bit more X factor
about them. I think the yeah with Marky Mark you
are not can win a couple of what was good,
but no, they come on the comps said that over
and over again.
Speaker 2 (16:05):
That's so that's all I wanted to hear. That's all
they wanted. What do you think about the Sharks?
Speaker 1 (16:10):
The Sharks, I actually think they're the freshest they've been
a long time coming into the finals. I think they're
in the best form heading into a final series. They've
obviously betting, get the monkey off the back. You know,
this is what we've spoken about on the their fans
as well, like they do this every year and this
is their opportunity, this is their time, and in an
open final series and coming off that win against you know,
(16:30):
a Bulldogs team that have come third, they're they're they're
a big chance that they can definitely beat the Chucks.
The Chucks, you know, it's hard to tell with them
because they've been so good at times and then you
know they've been poor.
Speaker 5 (16:43):
But they can't win the comps.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
They can win the comp Yeah, they can't.
Speaker 1 (16:47):
I mean it's I would say that there's a lot
of teams ahead of them, but they can do it
with the talent they've got, the draw they've got and
if they go on Smack Cranala, you know that they're
already they're already you know, tightened up in the market.
So anyway, let's move on serious doubt. Tom Jazz cannery
limp into the finals. You know, watching this game, they
(17:08):
didn't look like scoring. They scored one try off a
kick that was deflected, that they ran the length of
the field.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
It wasn't a good performance.
Speaker 1 (17:18):
It wasn't a confidence building performance to not only themselves
but their fans, and I would say their coach. Even
though Cameron was stoic in the press conference, are you
guys worried? Are you worried about the dogs here after
this one?
Speaker 6 (17:30):
I've been worried about him some time.
Speaker 4 (17:32):
They've won probably their last eight with Gathering at half back,
and one of those wins was against Penrith New South
Wales Cups, which.
Speaker 6 (17:39):
Really doesn't count on the form guy.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
Does it?
Speaker 4 (17:42):
And look, I think they're struggling. As you said, one
runaway try from a against the run of play. I think, yeah,
I think they're in a bit of bother.
Speaker 6 (17:52):
I really do.
Speaker 5 (17:52):
There're a massive trouble based on this performance. But I
mean a couple of weeks ago they almost been Melbourne
and Melbourne, so they're still capable of producing good performances.
But based on what we've seen, particularly at the weekend,
I mean as much as Melbourne battling with a few injuries,
they can't beat them Melbourne.
Speaker 3 (18:09):
I can't, No, chest you put the line through them
now too, you can't beat Melbourne. I think their marquee
players have to really step up.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
You know.
Speaker 3 (18:22):
It's something like they've lost confidence. And the more I
think about the Locky Galvin situation, they said that they
can't win and you know it's about sex. And I
probably would have taken that personally because if I'm playing,
if I'm crighton, that means that the whole team wasn't
good enough to get them to the next level. So
it's a bit of a kick in the belly where
Shane Perry played half back to Darren Lockyer and they
(18:45):
won the comp. Sometimes those those players in there.
Speaker 2 (18:48):
The way the.
Speaker 3 (18:50):
Lock is a future of mortal Well, you don't know
what Stephen Crichton and those guys are going to get to, right,
but all as I'm saying is are on top of
the table.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
It was going along nicely and sometimes you need those players.
Speaker 3 (19:04):
The change and lost two of their last day a
better side than what they were halfway through the year. Well,
if you're based on the performances the couple of performances
for Galvin got there, I would say no, because I
was struggling before Galvin a couple of games.
Speaker 6 (19:17):
Yeah, you haven't done your homework.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
His kicks the other night, Yeah, north night, mate, I've
got a six year old the kick better.
Speaker 6 (19:26):
I want to give you some fat o are you
giving me the first nineteen rounds?
Speaker 5 (19:30):
Toby six, I wasn't talk about the first nineteen rounds
we're talking about.
Speaker 4 (19:35):
We're talking about the change over to Galvin. First nineteen
rounds are having twenty three, twenty four points a game.
Galvin came in starting half back round twenty then now
down to twenty one points of games. I said they're
won full from mate, really three from seven.
Speaker 5 (19:49):
I wasn't talking about the fast games.
Speaker 6 (19:51):
And to me, Galvin is a big story.
Speaker 4 (19:54):
He came to that club under unprecedented blade torch, thanks
to Rich offering him a six a five year, six
million dollar deal, Gus saying he's the best teenager ever
and he's had to slide into a football side, big one.
That was all that he had decide into a football side.
Now I can see when you're watching a footballer, not
(20:15):
just technically issued Blakes, but what you can see is
a guy who's suffering a little bit under the tension,
the anxiety, and he's not playing a natural Lachland Galvin
game that so off we saw more regularly at the
West Tigers. He's carrying the weight of that entire football
side for the campaign.
Speaker 6 (20:36):
He is a chief player.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
One of our best best halfbacks was on his last week.
I thought he'd put it perfectly. He said, well, he
wasn't a half back to begin with, so everyone's forgotten
about that he wasn't a halfback.
Speaker 2 (20:48):
They bought him as a halfback and.
Speaker 1 (20:49):
They've tried to turn him into one at a premier club,
coming first to win a premiership to better their team.
It's not easy to do that in first grow rugby
league as a How is he twenty one twenty as
a twenty one year old kid? Add to that the
expectation that's mashes you know, to do that and come
in and and the weight like you said that he's
on his shoulders and I think we've overrested. I think
(21:12):
we never have on his pedal, but I think many
have over estimated his talents at the age.
Speaker 2 (21:17):
Hasn't heard of him really seriously, I hadn't really heard.
Speaker 6 (21:20):
Him within the game.
Speaker 5 (21:21):
Hadn't people judges?
Speaker 3 (21:23):
You might have, but I didn't, right, And then when
I sat with Phil Good and I'm telling you when
like and I was a twenty year old guy and
I played State of Origin and he called me a
bench play that that was ringing in my ears for
like five years. I couldn't imagine if he told me
I was the best kid he's ever seen. I couldn't
imagine that, and the pressure going out there and then
trying to live up to that like then he put
(21:45):
me down where I had motivation, but to put you
up on a pedestal like that, and he's got to
go out there every week, and the game sits there
and waiting for this kid because one of the greatest
judges and football brains in our game has put that
tag on.
Speaker 5 (21:58):
I think we've got to remember this is not this
is not a short term play, right, I mean, Galvin
is a long term play. They got a ninety year
old I think it was nineteen when he went there.
He's twenty now.
Speaker 2 (22:07):
Might it might not be a short term play. Ready
doesn't mean to move straight in and put it the
pressure straight.
Speaker 5 (22:16):
But they weren't going to win the camp the way
they were, so they went out and got a guy
that they thought could help him in the camp. Maybe
not this year, but for the next four years after.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
He'll be half back next year and he's beyond well,
he's going to be I'm asking you half back, well,
clearly that that's the.
Speaker 5 (22:31):
Way they're thinking.
Speaker 6 (22:32):
Now you know that's not the case.
Speaker 2 (22:36):
To six.
Speaker 5 (22:36):
Eventually, I'd imagine.
Speaker 6 (22:37):
It might have happened to Matt Burton.
Speaker 5 (22:39):
Maybe he moves the thirteen. Buzz He'll be in the
side somewhere. He's a good footballer, really good football And
Guskild is the only guy who said the Lachland Galvin's
are very, very, very talented footballer. He will be in
that team somewhere. He might be the seven. He may
not be the six, he might be the thirteen. But
make them a better team.
Speaker 4 (22:58):
I've said to you when story broke that Lachlan Galvin's
a nineteen year old kid, right and he had his
issues at the West Tigers which were almost self inflicted
by going to Richer with the Doossia. A great manager
would have said to Shane richardson the boys nineteen.
Speaker 5 (23:16):
You don't blame his manager. Come on, yeah, I am oh,
come on man, just let.
Speaker 4 (23:20):
Me finish, and would have shown more of a duty
of care and said we do not want to discuss
his future right now. A mid season switch of clubs
on the back of seven complaints at nineteen years of age,
the blazeer publicity's going to create Let's wait till the
(23:40):
end of the season, thrash it out, then go and
join the Bulldogs.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
Still he didn't want to be there. Suck it up.
Really wasn't breaking news from Fairfax Media.
Speaker 1 (23:50):
Gus and Surroundo have extended until twenty thirty one.
Speaker 2 (23:56):
So it's a big signing for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 1 (23:58):
There they are both school and Cameron just tweet this
how they have extended their contracts, which is amazing news
for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 2 (24:07):
A great success so far.
Speaker 4 (24:10):
And you know what, they're going to sign Stephen Cricht
until twenty thirty as well.
Speaker 6 (24:13):
So we cut and Gas and Cameron.
Speaker 4 (24:17):
That is the foundation for them to build a Melbourne
Penwrith sustained success.
Speaker 5 (24:24):
Yeah, oh, it's great news for the club. And you
hinted sorelldo on the weekend I think.
Speaker 6 (24:29):
I wrote Surroundo and yeah, I mean it's we're going
to get the gust story mate.
Speaker 2 (24:38):
What do you reckon in terms of.
Speaker 5 (24:40):
Well, he's a which one?
Speaker 2 (24:42):
Two long term deals? Both?
Speaker 5 (24:44):
Will they all three of them be on at least
of me and not imagine gusses on more than a
mill Wow? Well quite now we know that he's going
to be on a million soreldo. They're going to rape
for the good coaches Now is a million dollars a
year minimum?
Speaker 6 (24:56):
Canoby spend more money on football?
Speaker 4 (24:58):
Not in the salary cap as they're restricted like everyone else,
but that academy they've set up and what they're playing,
isn't there a salary cap on that. There's a soft cap,
but you can break the soft cap and it doesn't
cost your competition points. It's just there and there are
some financial punishments involved in that. But to have Gus
and surrounded on that sort of money that they've got
(25:20):
to bust the cap and all we say, all I've
said over the years about Gus, there's no question he's
done a terrific you know what we've been talking about
all year. The job's nowhere near complete right that there
are chances of playing in a Grand Final this year,
but their success is aim long term and Adam Jerwisey
says this.
Speaker 6 (25:40):
They want to be in Melbourne Storm. They want to
make it twenty years in a row.
Speaker 5 (25:45):
I want to compet sometime.
Speaker 2 (25:46):
I believe of course most clubs will. They're doing everything right.
This has just been a bit of a I reckon
they got this in hindsight, they probably wouldn't have the
way it's all unfolded.
Speaker 6 (26:02):
Mate.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
Yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 1 (26:07):
You asked me like from my opinion, and I said,
we'll give me a month, you know, and you put
it back on me last week. And with every week
I lose more belief and confidence in it, you know, honest.
Speaker 4 (26:19):
I just tell you what brought in time, Galvin. That
one harbor Bridge passed against the George that set up
the match winning try right at the death. And if
you need a miracle when you're playing a team as
Laws and Georgia and the Ladder that says you got
to struggle.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
I think it's important to say this is not just
Galvin's fault. It's just the fact that it was such
a bit Again, people think that if it's not, it's
a big story mid season. They bought him for a
certain reason. They wanted to win a competition. You know,
all the drama that unfolded behind it, the West Tigers
and the transition to Cannaby. We're going to talk about
it because.
Speaker 6 (26:51):
It's going to build breaks.
Speaker 4 (26:53):
It's going to build if they bump out, and they
can if they bomb out, I just think someone would
take me sex.
Speaker 6 (27:00):
And now I'm not saying bringing back in.
Speaker 4 (27:03):
I'm saying he'd be better equipped at this stage of
his quick to handle the day to day pressure. That
means you as I'm not challenging Cameron surround us just
signed a million dollar deal and telling him how to
pick a footy side.
Speaker 6 (27:15):
So I'm not.
Speaker 2 (27:16):
I'm just.
Speaker 5 (27:18):
Therefore, packs be getting built a too break. I know
it's easy to put the finger.
Speaker 6 (27:21):
At belted under sext and it's the same force.
Speaker 5 (27:27):
I handled themselves. So the forwards are gone from getting
carved up. I don't know why I haven't studied them enough,
but I know they're getting smashed in the middle of
the park.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
Okay, times, bars, what do you got for us?
Speaker 4 (27:44):
This was a painful wonder right. The headline right is
called Shark's home ground, Portloo Park.
Speaker 6 (27:50):
Now did you do?
Speaker 2 (27:52):
Did you?
Speaker 4 (27:52):
I didn't write the headline, but I'll tell you what
I stand over the word and it was painful to
rite because Shark Park, where I've been a member for
twenty five years, is no longer fit to host NRL
Finals football. It's holding the entire NRL game back by
having a stadium for a knockout final. Two clubs with
(28:14):
thirty five thousand members between them, and you can only
sell twelve thousand tickets.
Speaker 6 (28:19):
The rest go to corporates.
Speaker 4 (28:22):
Now Sydney hosts Sydney hosts one final this weekend, the
heartland of rugby League one final, and we are locking
out tens of thousands of fans. Casual fans. Members should
go to Alians, not Aliens. That's Rooster's home ground.
Speaker 2 (28:41):
Make it a call. Make it a simple, a simple fix.
Speaker 3 (28:46):
Everybody used to have to go pay there and it
was the Roosters and South and if they're good enough
to make it, but your fans can give them five
days to buy the tickets. The other team can't by
So it's all your members half an hour today that
game mate, Like, that's my so shark. If you can
fill it, if all your members can go through and
fill it, and if you're a registered member you can.
Speaker 6 (29:08):
From other clubs. You just want to rock up to
the finals, can watch a good game.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
AFO, do you have this worse than like? After your comments?
Speaker 5 (29:17):
I actually think this is now worse than like. But
the only thing I'd say is said they're going to
review this. Well Brook is okay, and then I said
they're going to review this at the end of the year.
The way way Ange Rabdi was talking today, there's no
way they'll allow finals at this ground next year. Now
the issue is where do you draw The line is four?
Can you play Brookie at four points?
Speaker 2 (29:37):
Now?
Speaker 6 (29:37):
You can't? You can't.
Speaker 5 (29:38):
Can you play wins Stadium in Cogra so well?
Speaker 2 (29:41):
You can.
Speaker 4 (29:43):
A twenty five thousand seat stadium. Minimums can't go thirty gone.
Speaker 6 (29:51):
You got to let your customers in.
Speaker 5 (29:53):
I've been called bus No one's called for.
Speaker 6 (29:55):
This loud of padlock on the gates.
Speaker 5 (29:58):
I can get away. I said that I think you
should bulldoze them all. Quite a big venue.
Speaker 1 (30:03):
Okay, okay, stick around Journals and Tomorrow Night following em
are all three sixty legendary broadcast the way how he
sits down with Eels legend Michael Cronin in episode one
of Ray Hadley's Face to Face.
Speaker 7 (30:19):
Scratch and y eighty one, eighty two, eighty three in
in forty seven no premierships and then three in succession.
Speaker 6 (30:28):
You get them come through together. You're very lucky.
Speaker 2 (30:30):
Study didn't.
Speaker 10 (30:32):
I lost the side of the eye and I thought
I was finished, but you get back and all of
a sudden you start feeling a bit better.
Speaker 4 (30:38):
My recollection varies with your recollection, maybe maybe because mine's
the truth.
Speaker 2 (30:45):
Good question, Ray, I'm trying to ask them. He could
make an impact an important games like no other.
Speaker 10 (30:50):
It's a static translating. People don't like he'd give you
a second chance. You wouldn't want to be lying up
to your third And this woman said, you wouldn't have
to hide to come back, and he.
Speaker 2 (30:59):
Kicks up one side, Barma a plan please, you're looking
for a bit of supporters.
Speaker 10 (31:04):
They looked at me and they said, how's it go on?
Speaker 2 (31:06):
Going on?
Speaker 5 (31:07):
Foods?
Speaker 2 (31:07):
Well, what can I say? Hmm
