Speaker 1 (00:12):
Welcome to NRL three sixty Rugby League from every angle.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
I brought to you by Regain Gordy.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
I cannot believe they're finally letting the Lunatics run.
Speaker 3 (00:22):
It's about time there, braith.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Is, he's got dallim Judy.
Speaker 1 (00:25):
He's far more important than what we're going to serve
up tonight. So you'll see him a little bit later
on Brett rudmycarry on. I see here right now, Hollo, gentlemen.
Speaker 4 (00:35):
The promotion.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
We've got a lot to get through because we've got
our through sixty and we've got to find out what
it is. Gord is excited because we've changed the lighting
here and it's probably look, it's award winning live almost
and of course they're live on dally M's Live on
Fox I League the daly Ms and right now let's
send it to Eloise Sawyer and Jake Duke.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
They are standing by on the green.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
Carpet as all the superstars of our game arrive.
Speaker 5 (01:03):
Thanks, and we're here at the Dali m Awards for
twenty twenty five. Right here in the green carpet, it's
the glitz and the glam for twenty twenty five. Plenty
of special arrivals already teams concluding the Broncos have come
down the green carpet. We'll speak to them and their partners, Jake.
It is a huge nine. There is plenty of top
awards up for grabs.
Speaker 6 (01:20):
Yeah, absolutely, Elouise, We're going to be here on the
green carpet giving out a few of them right after
NRL three to sixty, including the top try I scorers,
the top point scorers. Some guys have had terrific seasons
both in the NRL and NRLW and then of course
we're inside for the main awards. Who's going to take
out the top gongs for twenty twenty five James Dedesco.
He finished second last year. Can he go one better
(01:40):
this year after terrific year for the Roosters. In the
women's game, Tamika Upton, she has been absolutely unbelievable for
the Broncos, the Broncos team that scored thirty seven points
a game. She's the red hot favorite for the women
as well. So it's going to be a great, great show,
great event, and we're going to be joined by a
couple of superstars here on the green carpet as well.
Speaker 5 (01:58):
We absolutely are this year in twenty twenty half five,
we have Sean Johnson and Tiana Pennatini Gray right here
in the green carpet to add to this wonderful coverage
right here on Fox League.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
All right, look at that Look at that.
Speaker 4 (02:12):
Smooth cat.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
Now I know what he's got, the gig and we're
sitting in here.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
He looked like Braith, looks like a man born to
do that, that was he.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
Was destined to do it.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
Look like he should be at the oscars.
Speaker 4 (02:24):
Can I say they're looking for you, James Bond, aren't they?
There's a touch of bond about.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Who's going to win this thing.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
Oh look, well, obviously everybody keeps on talking about James Sidesca.
But I think there's a couple of smoking I think
strange from the Raiders. They had a great year. You
don't finish first without getting a lot of points. And
Reese Balsh I reckon the last six weeks when Adam
Reynolds was out. It's fair to say he might have
got the six points nowly every game or close to.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (02:54):
I can't go past James Sisko.
Speaker 8 (02:55):
I think his form was irresistible for a large chunk
of the season. You know, if we're talking about podium
finishes from guys on the outside, maybe Blake Brayley. I
think he was probably the form player and the second
half of the competition the Sharks went on a bit
of a run.
Speaker 7 (03:09):
But yeah, I think Teddy wins it.
Speaker 4 (03:11):
I've got no bolters for you. I just think Teddy
wins and wins in the Canterdaen.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
It's a pretty good resurrection from Murri was a couple
of years ago. Someone was on the way down and
he's come back and you know, up to near his best.
Now let's get into the big story of the day
R through sixty and this big story, the main story
brought to you by the by d Shark six and
the NRL you got to.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
Say has got to be rocked by.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
This competition now getting officially getting the green light ready
and Mick because there's a lot of names being floated
about it seems.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
Like it's a genuine target. It's almost got shades of
Super League about it.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
Well, it does, Dan. The only difference is I'd say
they're actually trying to work with the major rugby and
bodies around the world. Now they haven't got them on
board at the moment, but certainly got a sense of
that about it because it's back by private equity, big
private equity dollars. You're talking about eight twelve franchise, eight men,
four women being set up around around the world in
(04:11):
cities like Miami and Los Angeles and lizab in Powis
some places like that. And I'll play a rolling competition
in a different different spot each week. Initially next year
from October to it will be a shortened camp. It'll
expand in twenty seven and twenty eight. And so this
is fifteen a side rugby, it's fifteen in a side rugby. There,
it's fifteen a side rugby, and it's franchise rugby itchise,
(04:36):
it's live golf. Yeah, basically, yes.
Speaker 7 (04:38):
That's the that's the best comparison without the.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Billion people watching it. That's the IP without the billion people.
Speaker 8 (04:44):
Yeah, there's going to be multi million dollar paydays for
the players potentially, right, So that's the concern for the game.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
I heard that. Yeah, But if they do leave their countries,
they're allow to play test rugby again, is that right?
Speaker 4 (04:55):
Well, that's that's the early word today that the AAU
will not allow them to play test rugby and New
Zealand won't either, and some of the other other major
nations won't consider them for test rugby. So that has
been discussed at the moment, but that's something I don't
think they've officially worked out.
Speaker 8 (05:10):
And that probably does that league more harm than good,
right because the fact that it might open the door
for more league players to go who aren't interested or
don't believe they could play for the Wallabies. Right Like,
so some guys that don't have ambitions to be dull
internationals or chase.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
Are they trying to sell a great product? Well, that
means that if you go and not being rude, but
Wendell and like Lodi to Kiri mate, but a lot
of the guys that go there from league don't shine
straight away. So if you're trying to sell this product
around the world, don't you want the best rugby guys? Well, firstly,
what do.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
We what money are we talking about?
Speaker 9 (05:40):
You?
Speaker 2 (05:41):
What's being murdered?
Speaker 4 (05:42):
Well, we're talking a million dollar a year contracts at US,
I believe. And there's also suggestions that are there with
tax breaks because you can domicile yourself and Dubai where
they don't the tax.
Speaker 3 (05:53):
Rates about it. When you come home, you pay tax.
Brought points in this competition.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
On one of the points in bold was you can
live in any country you want, which is translation for
living Dubai one.
Speaker 4 (06:07):
Yeah, because you know obviously that would mean you can't
spend six months a year in Australia because if you
do that, you taxed under Australian law. But that option
is there for them. But even without that, we're talking
bigger contracts and blokes traditionally earned the NRL. We're talking
a mini in US I believe, I believe they're talking
and a guy like Joe Gray. The talk there is
nine hundred grand Australian Joe Grail get to play.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
In which he's never going to get him which.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
Well might not for a long time.
Speaker 8 (06:33):
I understand that's he's on contract contract right, And they're
going to talk about paying their management fees separately as well.
So there's all these things that add up for the players.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
All right, So who are we talking here?
Speaker 4 (06:45):
Well, the names of they've been out there, Papa Hows
and Lomax, Joe Gray, Nelson, Big Nelson, Roger.
Speaker 8 (06:51):
To us he'd be the first one to go, Yeah, Roger,
first one Yeah, he's a bit.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
He's off contracts. Are the only one that on that
is on contract would be Lomax's.
Speaker 8 (07:01):
That's the concern, right, the fact that you know, we're
talking Joe Gray, we're talking Roger. Those guys have twelve
months left on their deals before they expire. Zach Lomax
has multiple years left on his contract with Paramatta.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
Did I agread correctly? Jason Rolls, the Paramatta coach was
actually open to the idea of letting him go.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
He's contracted all what the end of twenty eight.
Speaker 8 (07:20):
Yeah, so this isn't come as surprise to Paramatta because
it's been around for the past what five or six weeks.
Read to the fact that Paramatta were aware of the
potential interest for Zach to go and play our three sixty.
They had a conversation about a month ago, and I
think they parked it because they wanted to see if
this competition were to get off the ground. Now it
looks like it's going to get off the ground, they'll
have some serious conversations. And that's what Jason Rowles was
(07:43):
alluded to, the fact that it was mentioned Jason Rowle
said to Bars that he'd had a conversation with Zach,
and Zach said there was an interest there for him.
So I guess if it comes to a head now
they have to work out what will happen. And if
Zach does ask for a release, right because as you said,
he's got his contracted twenty twenty eight, they sign him
as a marquee player from the Dragons this year and
(08:03):
now they don't really don't want you know, Jason Rowle
says they're open, but they're not pushing Zach Lomax out
the door. This is this would be Zach Lomax's doing,
not Paramatta.
Speaker 3 (08:11):
Like you're deep into the Kayl and Ponger cap.
Speaker 4 (08:15):
Well, well, I mean Kaylyn's been linked with Rugby. It's
been pretty well reported and I think at some point,
you know it's contract to the end of twenty seven.
He came out and said he was committed to Newcastle
and the social media post but I'd say it wouldn't
surprise me if it's on Kaln's radar down the track.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
Forget just for a moment, Let's get back to Zach.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
Lime makes because I'm told he is at the Daims
right now on the green carpet with Eloy Sawyer.
Speaker 5 (08:43):
Zach Lomax alongside me. Zach, you're looking very sharp and
I had nice Is it to dress up for the
Dallim Awards in twenty twenty five?
Speaker 2 (08:48):
Yeah, it's always good.
Speaker 9 (08:49):
You know, it's different to having the footy boots on,
but yeah, it's good to get here and see everyone,
and yeah, it's always a good night.
Speaker 5 (08:55):
Plenty of time to reflect on the transition from the
Dragons to the Paramatta Eels. How do you sort of
I'm up twenty twenty five in your new colors?
Speaker 3 (09:02):
Yeah, it was.
Speaker 9 (09:03):
It was unreal, and you know, I loved every minute
of it. And obviously we started the season a little bit,
a little bit slower than we would have liked to,
but towards the back end we really hit our strips
and yeah, it fills us with a lot of confidence
leaning in the next year.
Speaker 5 (09:15):
I have to ask that there's been talk about this
R three sixty in the media. Is it something that
you want to comment now? Is it something that could
be in the future and do you have anything to
say on that?
Speaker 9 (09:23):
N No, law, I mean, I'm contacted at the Eels
for another three years, and you know, I love my
time there. And it's yeah, I'm loving every.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
Second of it.
Speaker 5 (09:31):
Thanks so much, few times, Zach, No, thank you, thank you.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
So his agent also spoke Zach Climax, and you can
read this in the Courier mar with Pete Bedell. Zach
Climax contracted the Paramatter until twenty twenty eight and will
be playing at Paramatter unless the contract situation changes.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
You can quote me on that. I'm not going to lie.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
Yes, I've had discussions with R three sixty, but how
can you lock into something that isn't even there?
Speaker 2 (09:59):
So the doors open clearly.
Speaker 8 (10:00):
Well, they're all fair quotes from Clinton Chaikowski there, but
they also says he's contracted to Paramount unless that contract
situation changes.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
Gordy, I'm fascinated with the Womax sideer because you talk
about Roger Tivaskischek with all due respect, and he's been
a champion, but he's nearly.
Speaker 3 (10:15):
Paid rugby league back.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
And he's earned his super animationship. As for Solomon is
kind of on the outer at paramat ad Milbourne, so
you can understand that way. We'll talk about Pappenhausing in
a second because that's interesting too, but Lomax is finally
discovered who he is as a footballer. He's playing great football,
not just for praying about it, but so surely there's
(10:38):
an Australian jumper there.
Speaker 3 (10:40):
Well, you would think if he can come and put
this to bed. He didn't quite put it to bed
then in that interview, but if he can put it
in the bed, there's no doubt the way he's played
State of Origin, he would be right in the mix,
the goay with the kangaroo. So then it's his decision
whether he wants to go chase the dream, whether it's
a dream or whether it's money. And I don't grudge
him on that, but if not, I'm pretty sure that
(11:02):
the Kangaroo jersey would be right underneath his nose. And
I think he's got a lot more to give rugby,
rugby league and the parent matterials.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
Now you, I don't want you to be quoted as
if you're speaking on behalf of Kevy or the Kangaroos,
but I'm asking you, Gordon Tallos the foremost.
Speaker 3 (11:18):
Yes, absolutely, you watch him in big moments. He hasn't
played a lot of footy. Obviously they will go play
the game up in Papa New Guinea. So you think
that he'd be involved in that. But if he comes
back in any sort of shape, you would think that
he'd be one of the wingers with Xavier kch or
he'd be right.
Speaker 4 (11:34):
There's interesting with Schaikowski's comments because he's been a pretty
common theme in all this Clinton Schaikowski, He's got Lomax,
he's got Papaausen, he's got Ji Gray. I believe he
was involved in Nelson's say for Solomona talks. I've got
the same club Land people aren't happy with Clint Schaikowski
because a lot of the fact he's taken a lot
(11:54):
of his clients to R three sixty and spoken to
our three sixty. Well Kennedy was offered to R three sixty.
Will Kennedy is one of his clients as well with
his management company. So it's interesting in seeing those comments
from Chock confirming he's spoken to R three sixty, because
you know, when you ring around about R three sixty
at the moment, there's one name that is common, and
it's Clinton Chaikowsky. And I don't think that's gone for Queensland.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
But isn't that his job?
Speaker 4 (12:19):
Well, well, you would say it is his job then yes,
but we're talking about a guy named Zach Lolomax has
got three years left on his deal, and that's I
think the one with living that's the one that really
grinds people because you're talking to R three sixty about
a player who is under contract for three more years
and the NERL will be looking at this. Then there's
a lot of pressure at the moment coming from clubland
(12:40):
to the NRL to look at this, to look at
agents behavior around this, the circus that's going on, and
I think, as I said, clubs aren't happy about.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
It, So why do we spend too much time on it.
We're a rugby league show talking about rugby union because
significant because no other media outlet in the world. So
it's not even broken England on players.
Speaker 4 (13:00):
Because I'm what's a genius mate, You've got it before everyone.
Speaker 3 (13:03):
Wow, I's on fire. It's a world exclusion, not even
like so you beat Bomba and it's a world exclusive
for me.
Speaker 7 (13:11):
It's a big moment.
Speaker 8 (13:11):
If we're having discussions around up to ten players leaving
our game, right, and back to to Ree's point, then
your point to Gordy, the fact is the fact that
the issue I've got is contract to blokes that would
moving on. If you're off contract, it please you know
you can be come back, you can do whatever. You're
a free agent, right. But the test is going to
be for the NRL and for the clubs if a
contracted player, whether it's Zach or someone else, wants to
(13:34):
get out of their deal and how they deal with that.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
Do you think we put a clause in like the
rugby union, Well, there's no more origin, there's no more
rep footy.
Speaker 8 (13:42):
I think if you're if you're in contention for the
Kangaroos right and you say you're going to break your
contract or you want to break your contract to go
play rugby, I wouldn't be picking you for Australia or
any representative side if you're off contract like Mark Nolinger
need to no issue if he plays for the Kangaroos
at the end of the.
Speaker 4 (13:59):
Say, I think the emotional response today has been bannimal
for life. Never let them back in the game. I
don't think you can do that because I think with
a girl like Paps and Joe Gray, they're off contract
at the end of the next year, so if they're
going they're within their rights. But there are some people
in clubland and are saying, if anyone goes to our
three sixty, you tell them they're not welcome back said before,
(14:22):
and I pointed out to someone of the day down
I said, we take players in rugby as well, so
it does go both ways.
Speaker 3 (14:27):
I think I heard that about Sonny Bill Williams and
that's got talent.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
But when you got his talent, he's the worst example
of someone breaking a contract and we let him back.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
What I'm saying is if he if.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
We wende, I think they're in the greater concern.
Speaker 4 (14:45):
Hundred clubs is as I said, player agents, and they're
involved in this because the agents take a lot of
money out of the game. They earn it right because
it's they get a commission on what they get players.
But I think the fact that agents who are involved
in rugby league are direct in players to an R
three sixty, I think that is a concern.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
For come.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
Four hours ago, Peter Velandi's was saying there's no business case,
this is not real. They're going to put the games
on YouTube. It's nothing. You spoke to it today, Yeah,
and look, I.
Speaker 4 (15:17):
Mean Pete's still got a view that I want to
see the books. I want to see how this is
going to work, whether they've got the finances, and I
think there is still a look. I know they've said
today we've got the green light that is going to
go ahead, but I still think there are some questions
that need to be answered around it. Where's the money
coming from? You know, have they got enough because there's
talk they haven't enough money and that's why they're only
(15:39):
only going to start with six teams next year. So
I think Pete raises some valid points around the finance
around this, the viability of it, whether it can survive,
and if you go to it, what guarantees are you
are there that you will get the money that you
are promised.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
It's interesting next year starts in October.
Speaker 1 (15:55):
I suspect it's because they can't get players sooner, but
then the year after when the COMPS starts proper, properly,
it's April.
Speaker 2 (16:02):
That's the plan.
Speaker 8 (16:03):
And another point around that down as well, is that
there's going to be a draft next year for all
the players that are contracted during the origin period. So
if you sit like so a draft to go play
for Madrid or whoever, what happened during our origin line
in July.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
To me, right, okay, this we're going to make. We've
made ipl comparisons and with draft and things.
Speaker 10 (16:21):
There's a million people in India. They love the game
of and and this is my point. This is not ipal,
this is live golf. No one cares about live golf.
But it's funny money.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
The money is in. That's the point.
Speaker 1 (16:34):
So you can talk about who's going to go to
these games, who's going to care about these games?
Speaker 3 (16:39):
It doesn't it's not the game. So live golf doesn't
help golf, it helps the golfers.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
Well.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
Live's modus operandi, one would argue, would have be they
wanted a seat at the PGA table, and they thought
if they could buy up all the players, and they
brought up a fair few, the likes of Rahm, the
likes of care, the likes of Michelson, that eventually it
would force the PGA to come to the table and
legitimize believe people.
Speaker 2 (17:07):
I don't know if this is reader, you're aware of
live does this have to say? What is the purpose
of this competition?
Speaker 4 (17:14):
I would say the direct comparisons between the two den
there's a lot of money involved. Players are going to
get rich and a bit like live gold. Live golf
lacks that Peter Landis talks about today. What rugul Ling's
got in this country's tribalism. That's why people go and
watch it because they want to go go and see
their club. They're invested, They've got an emotional tie to it, right,
(17:36):
Live golf like lacks a bit of emotion, I think so.
I think this concept is a bit like that. You know,
Zach Lomax goes and plays for Madrid and they play
one game a year in Madrid. Who's going to support that?
Speaker 8 (17:49):
I think it's actually worse than live golf because golf
is such an individual sport.
Speaker 4 (17:52):
Yeah, so.
Speaker 3 (17:55):
Go on and I'm watching camp Smith. I would actually
watch him play because he's a.
Speaker 7 (17:59):
Queen to go to play for the Madrid You know,
do they need a coach.
Speaker 3 (18:10):
Lot Gordy.
Speaker 4 (18:10):
That'll be the next thing because they need to fill
out their staff.
Speaker 2 (18:16):
Fifteen years ago.
Speaker 3 (18:18):
Have a contract. Melbourne really resigned to losing him. Well,
I think, you know what, I don't think they would
be that worried. And I'm not talking for Melbourne. I
think with the injuries, the way he's played, they've got
that young guy just waiting in the wings as well,
so far longer, So I think I think they wouldn't
(18:41):
be upset.
Speaker 4 (18:42):
Yeah, I think that. Yeah, I think they are resigned
to him going down. And I'm with Gordy. Look, they
really loved Ryan, right, He's been a great servant for them,
but they've got some cap difficulties the moment. The cat's
very tight and he would solve a problem for them,
and they've got so far long they waiting the wings.
So whilst I think they'd been disappointed to see him go,
it wouldn't devastate them.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
Now we've had a lot of players delaying contracts or
trying to marry things up with expansion teams. In hindsight
of players actually been delaying things perhaps for this thing only.
Speaker 8 (19:14):
No, I don't think long term contracts have sort of
come into play. It's probably the guys that have been
off contract with their clubs now have delayed it to
sit back to see what happens. Dr Gray is a
prime example. Right South wanted to get that deal done.
They haven't been able to get a deal done because
they're sitting back to see what's going on here. So yeah,
I don't think there's been a lot of it because
I reckon.
Speaker 4 (19:33):
It will happen. Though now this this is this seems
to have got off the ground.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
But the rugby rugby in the history, other than chasing
Andrew Johns, right, they only like our wingers and fall backs.
I don't think they're like the other guys can play.
Bradthorne went across there for a challenge and took less
money and he wanted to play for the All Blacks
since he was a young kid. Totally different. But and
then Sunny Bill, what an athlete. But other than that,
(19:58):
they've just chased their wings.
Speaker 4 (20:00):
House is on their radar. Gordy, pretty handy player.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
How many, you're a good mate?
Speaker 3 (20:05):
He could play three hundred and sixty minutes in that game.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
How many all right? How many do you think they've
done that?
Speaker 7 (20:11):
I think six?
Speaker 3 (20:12):
Six?
Speaker 4 (20:12):
Yeah, made I reckon tends the excessive number. I think
they might get ten over the over time.
Speaker 8 (20:18):
But the first year I'm saying I reckon the first
year about half a dozen. But we're not talking thirty
to fifty blokes are going to walk out of the game.
But you know that we will lose a few top
one players to it. There's no doubt about it. And
then when we get an expansion and new team's coming in, Yeah,
that's a bit of a concern.
Speaker 4 (20:36):
The worry is, though, Dan, if this takes off right
and just say, just say it does get some legs,
then it gets momentum. Nathan Cleary is our contract the
end of twenty twenty seven. You know, Bulldog's got the
great theory about Nathan going to live in Europe and
hang out with Mary.
Speaker 3 (20:49):
He won't play.
Speaker 4 (20:51):
You could play for living Lisbon with Mery. So that's
the worry that they don't stop now, they don't stop
at these guys. Yeah, the money comes in and it
gathers momentum, gains traction. More money comes into the game
than Nathan Cleary is on their list, paying houses on
their list. That's the concern. And I'll tell you what
it makes really important and the next broadcast negotiation that
(21:13):
rugby Leagu's do them because they need to know that
Pitivulanis needs to get that right. Because if he gets
that right, our salary cap is going to go up
to twenty to thirty percent, So that means our wages
is going to be up twenty to thirty percent, which
helps combat this.
Speaker 2 (21:25):
Now Storm and Bronco.
Speaker 1 (21:26):
I'm getting to the Grand Storm and Broncos have arrived
in Sydney.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
What's the lightest coming out of the camps?
Speaker 8 (21:33):
What Ye, Dan sort of arrived in Sydney. Obviously, big
fan day at Brisbane this morning. Well that's seven thousand
fans there. But yeah, low key arrole for both sides
and aside from Stefan, I's been a pretty low key
build up so far.
Speaker 4 (21:47):
Yeah, not much report, Dan, Sorry sorry about.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
This, but just the construction work going on that's been
happening for your peoples.
Speaker 4 (21:58):
Peter and Bomber Bdella, nice crew.
Speaker 3 (22:01):
At the broadcast training what they said about six or
sousand people there like the shirt chair, so that was good.
That was probably the people that couldn't get. That was
the biggest ticket chasing game I think in the history
of two hundred and fifty thousand people chase. That's more
than any concert or anything that has been at that stadium.
(22:21):
And you know, you've got to do your recent game
swift and bigger than tape.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
This game sold out yesterday, which of course you think
a Grand Final.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
Of course itsels out. That's pretty early from the regular
Grand Final. That we sell out yesterday and that's the product.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
Then everybody's about the six again, and we sit here
and we tend to complain all the time and on
one of them. But then when you look at where
the game's got, Like I was a bit bored with
the game about ten years ago, it was like a
wrestlers on the way they've cleaned it up, the way
the athletes have come back into it. If you look
at that game and Camber, if you look at the
game on Sunday down like your call on a lot
of these games, do you think the product's better?
Speaker 1 (22:58):
I don't remember it being as exciting. I don't remember
people being as excited. You could pick it apart.
Speaker 2 (23:04):
You can talk about too many said restards. You can
find things wrong with it if you want to.
Speaker 1 (23:09):
I just don't remember being as exciting and unpredictable as
it is.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
I Reckon also highlights the buzzer around the broncos I
want a company only twenty years and Reese Walsh is
just an exciting machine and people want to go and
watch him play well.
Speaker 1 (23:22):
Twenty fifteen is the best atmosphere Grand Final I've been at,
and there were no Sydney teams it was Cowboys Broncos
and with all due respect to the Cowboys fans Queensland
on holidays, it was the Broncos fans that made that
and there were thirty I think thirty eight thousand Queenslanders
came down.
Speaker 3 (23:41):
Obviously Cowboys fans was Sunday down. They said, so you've
caught Origin up there. I reckon, that's one of the
greatest atmospheres.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
Out I can't remember being louder. It might have been
when Ben Hunt ran away in Origin and scored. That
was a pretty loud roar. When Reynolds kicked that goal.
Speaker 2 (23:56):
I'd say that was.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
At least the equal daytime footage. Now I need to
explain an explanation. You're ready because the normal host of
this show. I'm going to give you a chance because
the normal this show absolutely as Gord he.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
Said, he ripped you apart like a hot chick.
Speaker 3 (24:15):
Ready's law. Can you explain this to me?
Speaker 4 (24:18):
Is this is this my theory about you need to
have a to win the comp? It explained to win
the comp, Dane in the top four an attack and
it's traditionally historically not every year, but historically top four attack,
top four defense to win the.
Speaker 3 (24:33):
Comp if it's totally every now and.
Speaker 4 (24:35):
Then, No, it's historical dance, it's it's a probability. But
there you go.
Speaker 7 (24:41):
So that wow, you've got to make you got a
load degree as well, so that.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
You have still have the shirt on.
Speaker 1 (24:56):
That shirt that is about that's about two thousand and six,
it is roughly yet.
Speaker 3 (25:00):
So all right, so you're the storm.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
I hope they're in the top four of both.
Speaker 4 (25:05):
Which tells you they should start this gread final as
distinct favorites to him.
Speaker 1 (25:09):
So Broncos because their defense is not in the top four,
you are officially tonight Wednesday night writing them off.
Speaker 4 (25:16):
I can't do that because I always tipped the Broncos
and Broncos man I went to the first of a
game down. I can't write them off, but I would
say they did a miracle. So what are you going
for Brisbane?
Speaker 3 (25:29):
Privately? Who do you think is going to win?
Speaker 4 (25:31):
Whatever?
Speaker 3 (25:38):
Because in the green room he goes, I think Melbourne win.
Publicly it comes away with see that's where the part
time Queensland comes we go.
Speaker 1 (25:49):
I had a fear Gordy, so it was one of
the greatest things I've been out on Sunday but as all.
Speaker 2 (25:55):
The officials and the and the they carried on the
way they and they deserved it.
Speaker 1 (25:59):
It was that sort of It was the moment I feared,
is this their Grand Final? They did it two weeks
ahead before against Camber. Melbourne'srunners burned much easier. Let's be well,
much less dramatic. Let's say, how do you assess them?
Speaker 3 (26:15):
The way Melbourne walked off the field with their press conference,
it's still business. They know that it's unfinished. Brisbane to
celebrate that. I don't think it was over the top.
I think it was the moment. I think it was
the atmosphere. Everybody I spoke you said, it's the greatest atmosphere.
I think they just went along with the fans. I
think they just went along with the ride. I don't
think it was over.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
It was a hell of a ride, Gordiant. It's got
to take something out of them.
Speaker 3 (26:39):
Or it's got to keep them up there.
Speaker 7 (26:40):
They did end Penneth Panthers right as well. Right, so
there's every reason to celebrate. I'm glad. I don't think
it's over the top there, like if you can't celebrate
if you.
Speaker 2 (26:48):
Were there, it was totally appropriate.
Speaker 1 (26:50):
Yeah, totally appropriate, but at the same time, it's not
the Grand Final yet.
Speaker 7 (26:55):
Yeah, but I don't think you sit there and think, oh,
they're carrying on too much.
Speaker 8 (26:59):
They've just won Grand Final where and I get God's
point one hundred percent all right, Melbourne won't be satisfied
unless they lift that trophy.
Speaker 6 (27:06):
Right.
Speaker 8 (27:06):
Brisbane have had a good year regardless of the outcome
come Sunday night. But yeah, I don't think they're sitting
there thinking these scenes are over the top.
Speaker 1 (27:14):
Five times really, you've come back from fourteen or more
down to win, which is donishing. I was going to say,
if Melbourne's up fourteen now they're in trouble against Penrith,
they can do it.
Speaker 4 (27:26):
You can't keep At some point you're going to run
out of luck. It's see, you're going to run out
of time, You're going to run out.
Speaker 8 (27:31):
Of or they run out of his key players. They
can turn a game. They've still got them all in there.
So I don't think fourteen I don't think fourteen points
scares them, regardless of who they're playing against.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
Gordy, can you please not listen to my radio call
and shove it back in my face, because you are
right I said it fourteen dead was over.
Speaker 3 (27:52):
Times or something, that Penriths were ahead by twelve or more.
That's right and never been run down.
Speaker 1 (27:57):
Now you brought up Stefano toy command who and his
comments is really the only event of the so far.
Speaker 2 (28:07):
Craig Bellamy finally addressed those comments. Have a look at
his response.
Speaker 11 (28:12):
I really haven't seen to Yeah, I know he made
a statement or whenever he did in but you don't
see too much about rby Lake, so I said, I'm
not quite sure what he said. I was the one
that had to tell Craig, which it was an interesting
reaction when I first told Craig might have been a lighthearted,
(28:34):
but as I said, I didn't say that. We haven't
known too much about it this week.
Speaker 7 (28:38):
Hey god God, but he might not have seen it.
Speaker 3 (28:45):
But Frank Fernici has given him up. No, he said
he went and told him, but Craig said that he
hadn't seen So.
Speaker 2 (28:51):
This was Stefan.
Speaker 1 (28:53):
He's backed it up because he made comments that didn't
get much traction last week. But he made comments about
for new or Blake basically said leave.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
Him to me for the first time. I'm loving it.
Like when respolts last week right when they were talking,
because it's he versus Cleary, right, and he goes against
well what about us? But what about me? That's cool, right?
He didn't get shot down for it, and that helped
build the game with Stefano. Like a lot of the
players become cardboard cutouts because when they say something, go
(29:21):
oh like, I just saw it there made he said it.
I love the way he said it. He put himself
on show. He doesn't put his teammates. He's the one
that's got to run into pain and Paddy Carrigan and
those boys, and I'm sure he'll do it.
Speaker 4 (29:33):
They were those comments I know weren't directed to paint Half,
do you know, because I know Gordy. I've done some digging.
They definitely shovel just making the phone Gordy, and they
definitely weren't directed to paint ass.
Speaker 3 (29:45):
But his battle with backtracking now no.
Speaker 4 (29:49):
Names, no, I'm not going to name names, but it
wasn't paint us. But it's but his battle with Pa
hanging there, battle with you guess Half is going to
be crucial, and that's pretty obvious, right because he has
been phenomenal since origin.
Speaker 2 (30:05):
Is the why he's talking about We're a number that's
less than two D.
Speaker 3 (30:13):
Corner sticking around.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
We got more talking about Israel, men and a few
other things.
Speaker 1 (30:19):
And tomorrow night following NROLL three sixty, Yes, NRL three
sixty is back again and breaks his back as well.
But after three sixty it's Finals Footy with Maddie John's
and special guest Shawan Johnson
