Speaker 1 (00:06):
This Sunday ticket from two hosted by Jake Duke, Mick
Ennis and the One the Only Nathan Heine Marsh first
up the hotter side in the cop the Canper Raiders show.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
I hate wins on the trot.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
If you don't buy, there's some other guys that are
just getting towed along here at the moment.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Now for the Newcastle Knights. Four weeks ago these two
played out the twenty two to eighteen nail bider.
Speaker 4 (00:36):
But that's the Knights, isn't it.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
Then they turned their hard luck around against the premiership
front runners and at four come four o'clock Sunday it's
one for the ages. The Bulldogs and the Seagulls thirty
years ago.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
I know how old does that make?
Speaker 4 (00:55):
For fear?
Speaker 1 (00:56):
They have fresholds of the football, merely went into the final.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Short rice favorites. But it didn't work out that late,
did it?
Speaker 5 (01:05):
Now it is definite and they are the premiers. The
Canopy Banks down Builder, the.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
Great Terry Lamb Barber, the toast of the town. These
current doggies are placed second on the ladder. With a
brand new pup excelling in the spotlight.
Speaker 5 (01:26):
He comes under the figures playing the.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Seagulls.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
They are three wins in a row once again shooting
for the finals.
Speaker 6 (01:38):
They are screaming into the top eight.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
Jacob's see you there, Sunday ticket from two right here
on Fox.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
Lougue.
Speaker 7 (01:47):
Welcome to L three sixty Rugul League from every angle
and joining me again, Den Gnat's been the journeys in
James Hooper and Michael Carrianas and what about the Sunday
ticket on Fox League two big game started with the entree,
the Raiders taking on the Nights, finishing with the main
meal Dan Bulldogs up against Wait.
Speaker 4 (02:07):
For this game.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
Firstly, it's a great game on its own anyway, Canterbury
near the top, manly starting to come good. You can't
trust them yet that they're starting to come good. Then
you're throwing the ninety five nostalgia. I think it's the
greatest premiership win win ever, just given all the things
that went against them and the things are railing against
(02:29):
and it's I think it's a great thing they're celebrating
at thirty years.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
You all love the history of that narrative ninety five
of the year the Dogs won the comp because Dean
paie jarreb McCracken, Jason Smith, they'd all signed to go
and play for Paramattic. It was in the middle of
the Super League war and it split the side like
they were at war, and Chris Anderson, the coach at
the time, got them all together, took them to a
local pub said boys, we're not leaving until we fix this.
(02:54):
Finished sixth when on a run that is one of
the great Grand Final Boylovers, that Manly side back then
was absolutely stuck. So I love the fact that they
are celebrating.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
They knocked off Saint Georgian week one, then they knocked
off the Broncos.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
Now that's the nineties Broncos, Langer Walters, Lazarus.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
They knocked off the nineties Raiders Daily Stuart Mullins. Everyone
bar Mal because he'd retired and then mainly had only
lost two games all year. And to add to your point,
what you're Chris Anderson had a rule, didn't he They
get together once a week they could talk anything but
footy because when they talked footy and what was going
on with Super League and the four other players, it
(03:35):
drove them apart. But that's what brought them together and
remarkable run.
Speaker 8 (03:40):
So can't wait for Sunday. So many storylines around this game.
The Bulldog's taking the manly Seagulls. But Mick, you've got
some news around Josh Papal. What's happening with him at
the Raiders.
Speaker 9 (03:51):
Yeah, I think everyone just assumed that Josh Populi he
was going to go to the Super League at the
end of the season. He was linked to Saint Helen's
and I'm not sure if it's because of his form,
his origin, recall, whatever the case may be. But he's
made it clear to those close to him that he
doesn't really want to go to the Super League. He
wants to remain in the NRAL and that's caused the Raiders.
It's caught him a little bit by surprise because they
(04:11):
hadn't budgeted in their salary cap for him for next season. Look,
obviously they'd move everything to try and fit him in
next year. But at the moment, Josh Papale he's on
the market and I think he's open to office and
rival clubs.
Speaker 8 (04:23):
Okay, everyone thinks he's just going to stay with Canberra
and that's probably most likely, but.
Speaker 9 (04:27):
I'd say so right he's conclusion, he really explor clubs.
I think he's open to listening. Definitely open to listening,
right because you know the form that is in the
experience that he has and the real lack of middles
in the competition. You got to sit down and rattle
off ten twelve sides which could do with the middle.
Speaker 5 (04:43):
Like Josh Papale here.
Speaker 9 (04:44):
The only issue that I think people believe is that, well,
he probably won't leave, but once an inch is closer
towards next season and the Raiders have already moved for
Samu Sulo to the Newcastle Knights to make some salary
cap space. Not linked to Josh Pappale here, but you know,
the more it drags on, the other clubs are definitely
going to have an inquiry around what his future may
(05:04):
look like.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
He's such a cornerstone of that club they make and
I know how close he and his coach Ricky Stewart
are is the most cap Raider of all time. Now,
where the Raiders have been super smart over the course
last eight months two years is in the area of
recruitment and retention. They made the right calls at the
right time. Jordan Rapanna wanted to play on, they let
him go. Elliott Whitehead wanted to play on. They let
(05:27):
him go. The Jack Whiteen one was a little bit
different Jamal Foggerty. This year they made the call they
weren't going to go three years, and they stuck solid.
I think they need to find a little bit of
bend here, given everything that he has done for that club,
breath and his form this year. I don't want to
see him in any other colors, I.
Speaker 8 (05:45):
Agree, But it's going to come down to dollars and cents. Well,
of course, there'll be an element of loyalty there and
rightly so, and that would have power over an influence
over whether he stays or not.
Speaker 4 (05:57):
What's he on now? What do you think they can
offer and what's he worth open?
Speaker 2 (06:02):
I think he's on about seven hundred, maybe a tick over,
and I would suspect that he's probably got to be
prepared to accept around half that to get one more
year out.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
Even that, it doesn't sound like, let's say three point fifty,
that's still enough to make a little dig in the salary.
Speaker 5 (06:20):
It's going to about the sacrifice of someone Dan.
Speaker 9 (06:22):
There's no doubt the camera don't have the budget as
it stands for Josh Poppolihi for next season. So if
he does want it, if he does play on and
stays in camera, someone will have to move on. That's
the reality of their situation at the moment.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
I just wonder how he feels now right.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Obviously feels good right they're flying, fairy Tale finished with Queensland.
I wonder if that'll be different to how he feels
in ten weeks.
Speaker 4 (06:44):
They're about to have a fight.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
They've got six weeks to go onto the finals finals run.
We expect him to go deep. It's a lot of
football to be played between now and the end of
the season.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
He's a professional dan and he's one of those tough
old war horses. I could never see Josh not being
motivated to look. He wants to try and Number one
is priority right now is to try and win this
premiership with the Raiders, and they've opened a premiership window
that I think not a lot of people saw coming.
But I think he does genuinely believe that. He's also
(07:14):
still got another couple of seasons.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
It's going to be interesting to see how that plays out. Hoops.
Speaker 8 (07:18):
Now the Raiders are flying, Kyle Week's about to extend
his deal and Luke and he have won at that. Now,
Chevy Stewart, what happens to him? And for those that
a lot of people know Chevy, but a lot may
have lost touch because he hasn't played for quite a while.
He is a rising star and he would be he
get a lot of interest on the open market. So
what's the situation with him at the main I think there's.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
A couple of clubs monitoring the Chevy Stewart situation. I
think the Dragons and also the Sharks. The Sharks are
still yet to do a deal with Will Kennedy, I
think Craneller and he has around three hundred thousand available
in terms of their salary cap for next season, so
certainly those two clubs are monitoring the Chevy situation. I mean,
the thing that caught the Raiders bit by surprise was
(08:01):
the trajectory. I'll get that worder on young Kai Weeks
has taken off on this season. Nobody thought like some
of those trials he scored the magic round try against Melbourne.
I think you call that game against the Dragons. They
are freakish phenomenal and they have dictated that they've had
to bump him up, so they've actually extended him out
(08:22):
until the end of twenty twenty nine.
Speaker 4 (08:25):
Cronel.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
It's interesting you bring up the Kennedy thing has been
under not reported, but just we haven't talked about that enough.
He's been a very good fullback for them for a
long time, and haven't they come out Mick and basically said,
we can't embarrass him with an offer. We actually haven't
made him a proper offer yet because we can't bat
We don't want to embarrass him by that.
Speaker 9 (08:45):
Hoops his point right, the fact that only had around
three three fifty left on the books for next season,
he's probably going, But where does he.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
I think they want to They definitely, as far as
I know, I think they want to keep him, like
he's been a key member of their spine for a
number of seasons. Out they're a bit top heavy Cronel
in terms of their middle forwards, like they wanted to
make a big splash and get Fanua Blake there this season.
But I went through it today and by the time
you stack them all up, and I'm not saying they're
not all they're not all very strong players, right, but
(09:12):
by the time you stack it all up, it does
appear as though that could be an area that maybe
they might look to offload somewhere all.
Speaker 8 (09:18):
Right now, incoming Nights, CEO Peter pars address the speculation
regarding Adam O'Brien, insisting he's not aware of any plans
to part ways with the coach.
Speaker 10 (09:28):
The board had a discussion with Philip. They decided that
with his responsibilities, it will be best time frame for
them for him to step away at the end of
this season.
Speaker 6 (09:40):
So O'Brien and Helen Folland's future was called into question
last week.
Speaker 10 (09:44):
Well, I'm surprised by the headlines as SEMs that Adam's
future there's a lot of speculation about that. Let me
say that nobody's ever discussed Adam's future with me. Nobody
above me has questioned Adam directly with me, So I
was surprised that came to bring in some ways, nobody
has spoken familiar about Adam not being the coach here
(10:06):
going forward.
Speaker 8 (10:08):
Newcastle CEO Peter Parr knows nothing about Adam O'Brien, supposedly
looking like his future may be over at the Nights
next year, said he hasn't heard anything about it.
Speaker 4 (10:21):
A bit strange maybe no.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
I think he's trying to deflect and Flat Barton. You know,
lots of people have got plenty of time and respect
for party. He's had a lot of success in the
game with the Boss of the Cowboys when J two
led them to that premiership in twenty fifteen.
Speaker 4 (10:35):
But you're kidding.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
We've all heard the noise anyone who picks the fine
up or goes anywhere near Newcastle. It's the talk of
the town and whether it's loose lips, sink ships. Braith
Right and Phil Gardner, who's the outgoing CEO. PARI hasn't
taken over yet. He talks to too many people and
that's how the story got out. Where the story was
wrong was it said he was going to be gone
(10:58):
last Suesday. That hasn't happened. He will see the season out,
but I would be surprised, and I feel freud of
O'Brien because he's made four finals out of five years.
I don't think he's going to be there next year.
Speaker 9 (11:09):
It's an interesting one because that performance that they put
up on Sunday show that they're still playing for the coach.
You look at other coaches that are under pressure, look
at the Gold Coast Titans, you look at the North
Queensland Cowboys and the playing group isn't responding to the
coach the way these Newcastle Night Side are under Adam
O'Brien at the moment. Look, I think there's no doubt
he's under pressure, but I'm definitely not declaring him gone yet. Okay,
(11:29):
not at all, not well because of the performances they're
still putting up. The conversations I've had with you, I
don't think you know, I don't think he's a certainty
not to be there. No way, I'm not declaring that
he's gone next year.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
Push on and with all there's a big push on
for Blake Groen, who I'm not saying he won't make
a very competent head coach at some point, but he's
in charge of their attack at there a moment, and
their attack is one of the worst diabolical in terms
of been able to produce. That's not of not gone
in but I'm just saying it is an Australia his narrative.
And then you've got the agents in the background, one
(12:04):
of whom is very prominent, and Shaw will remain nameless.
Who's trying to well, we all know it, Blake who
did gallup who does he manage O'Brien and Blake Green,
same agent, and he's got their recruitment officer as well,
and perter ourselv and he broke that deal. And I
think Adam Blair is working in pathways at the moment.
He fingers all over it.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
I'll say this about O'Brien, all right. The worst thing
he does is press conferences. That's what gives him such
a bad look. But when you look at the team,
he's terrible at him right, But he's honest.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
That's too heavy now?
Speaker 5 (12:40):
Is he terrible?
Speaker 4 (12:41):
Stuffed up.
Speaker 3 (12:43):
With the defense creates a bad impression. I think he's
better than what we give him credit for. They have
made finals four of the last five years. And the
thing about when players give up, what do they do?
Speaker 4 (12:54):
They stop defending? This team defend.
Speaker 3 (12:57):
They can't score, they have no they don't have the halves.
Speaker 4 (13:00):
But they are playing for.
Speaker 3 (13:01):
This whether he's the right guy moving forward, they are
playing for this coach.
Speaker 9 (13:06):
That's clear, right, That is clear off the back of
the they're better ridden. On Saturday, the captains run I
think they had five or six players captains run there
on the phone all day Saturday. It was COVID times
in terms of trying to work out who's going to play,
who's not going to play. But I feel like he
should be given an opportunity to start next season.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
It was a monumental stuff up in insulting the Newcastle fans.
You can never question that region and those supporters. They
turn out Rayin Hall or Seanan weak In and work out.
That was the stuff up at a press conference, But
otherwise I reckon he's biggest short.
Speaker 5 (13:38):
The next day.
Speaker 4 (13:41):
Another road to go.
Speaker 3 (13:42):
It's always Snyde comments about what journalists are something because
it's clearly living in his head.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
But I'm I'm defending him.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
I'm just saying that's one aspect he's no good at
and it's that's the shop front window.
Speaker 4 (13:54):
What I'm saying is.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
I'd love to see him with Halves to see if
he can coach a team.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
They had Mitch Pierce for a number of seas.
Speaker 9 (14:02):
And they made he has that opportunity next year with
the investment in Dylan Brown.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
But the U, I don't think. I'm not sure. I
know you're saying you think he might be a good chance.
All the noise that's been going on there, men.
Speaker 4 (14:17):
Won one finals game final.
Speaker 5 (14:20):
Yeah, this is it.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
He makes finals, but they've only ever gone a week
two once.
Speaker 8 (14:23):
As the Calan Ponger's future, the game's highest paid player
is staying put for now, and.
Speaker 10 (14:29):
As far as Calin is concerned, I thought his statement
was very clear. People have said to me that he
might have gone more in depth, but my view on
that doesn't matter. Whether it was two pages, two paragraphs,
two sentences, What he said was still clear.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
It was a report last week that you had to
convince him to stay.
Speaker 10 (14:50):
Is that the case, Well, nobody will know because it
was a private conversation between me and him, so I
haven't said that. But look, he was very positive from
the very first minute of that meeting. He and away
agreed that conversation would remain confidential, and I have no
appetite to go back on my word.
Speaker 8 (15:09):
Okay, a lot of rumors around Kaylen for a long
period of time now, whether he's staying, whether he's going,
is he restless, does he wanted to go to Rugby?
Speaker 4 (15:15):
Does he know all?
Speaker 8 (15:17):
It's endless And the big question is though, did Peter
Parr have to convince Caln to stay?
Speaker 4 (15:23):
Do we know anything about that?
Speaker 8 (15:24):
He wasn't willing to divulge that private conversation, but he
didn't show it down either.
Speaker 9 (15:29):
No, I think we can only speculate on what was said, because,
as Peter pars said, I've spoken to Peter part and
he wouldn't tell me what was said in those conversations.
Speaker 5 (15:36):
But there's no doubt there had to be a roadmap.
Speaker 9 (15:38):
Of what the future looks like for Newcastle in terms
of some stability in and around the playing group. And
you'd assume, this is my assumption here the coaching stuff.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
Kalen's at itchy feet for a long time, and I
if I'm a night supporter, that's a little bit hard
to cop. Because he's the highest paid player in the game.
He's played more than Nathan Cleary, he's played more than
Camera Monster, Jerome Use all the super star in the game.
And he gets injured a lot. That's not a fault, right,
that's part of rugby league. But in terms of value
(16:08):
for money he was brought to the club. They've invested
seven years, very good money into trying to help make
him be able to get them closer to the promised Land,
and they aren't really any closer. And the fact that
he's always restless. His old man team Ponger. They work
sussing out rugby union. They heard about this through sixty
(16:28):
thing and they did pick up the phone and they
did engage in absolutely I know that four hundred percent.
And they did engage a Kiwi agent and they were
having a look in Japan, and he was having a
look in Europe. But he can't get the folding right.
That he's getting off Newcastle must have been a hell
of it to Chilean spooks.
Speaker 3 (16:45):
She has given because we had On the same day
Joey wrote a piece feel free to leave Kalin. We've
got other problems to.
Speaker 4 (16:51):
Solve, but off you go and good luck to you.
Speaker 3 (16:55):
And that same day he says, no, I'm not going anywhere.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
I'm committed to twenty twenty seven.
Speaker 4 (16:59):
I'd love to know what was the conspiracy.
Speaker 8 (17:01):
Theory is is that has been told me that the
coach won't be there next year, or that the coach
is going to be their break.
Speaker 5 (17:07):
So you think it's that it could be who's to
say it's not, so.
Speaker 4 (17:11):
Why would he try and go? And then if he's
happy with the coach, but why would he speak about it?
Speaker 9 (17:15):
Could be either way It could be either you can't
assume that the coach is definitely going to go, and
he's stayed because we don't know what happened in that room.
Could be equally to the coach is going to stay.
Speaker 2 (17:23):
You're not going to You're you know what happened in.
Speaker 4 (17:26):
That meaning I'm not specific, you're t So.
Speaker 2 (17:34):
You're running a bit of a protection.
Speaker 5 (17:35):
How is protection?
Speaker 2 (17:36):
The fact that it's right this plays going to be
the castle was around career.
Speaker 5 (17:46):
Yeah, I agree with that.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
There's constant speculation around whether he's committed. That wasn't the
question to me as a leader of the club. That's
I agree with that, but.
Speaker 5 (17:56):
That was not what we're talking about.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
You're ducking round.
Speaker 5 (18:00):
I think I don't know he's going to be sacked.
Do you know he's going to be sacked.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
I'll be surprised if something we don't know.
Speaker 4 (18:07):
You seem pretty.
Speaker 9 (18:09):
I'm not confident at all right that he's going to
be there next year, But I don't think it's a
dead set certainty that he won't be there.
Speaker 5 (18:16):
That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (18:16):
I think Calen, whatever it is, knows who's coaching, or
certainly if Adam O'Brien is or not. We just don't
know yet, but I think there's no way he's going
to recommit for another two years. If you're you don't
get some assurance what the future is.
Speaker 8 (18:31):
All right, let's get to our favorite topic. Okay, Alvin
his second chance at half back this weekend. Do we
expect any improvement on last weekend? I know a lot
of people are like, why are we still talking about him?
But it's a big situation. It's a big topic. We
just highlighted that the how important this game is for
the Bulldogs end the MENI Eagles at the top of
the show, he gets his second crack, He come up
(18:53):
with the match winner in that first opportunity.
Speaker 4 (18:56):
Do we expect him to get even better this week?
Speaker 3 (19:00):
You have to, just because more time spent gelling with
the team, you would hope it would get a little
bit better. It needs to, It needs to. But this
is a big opportunity because it's good opposition. They're a
very good daytime team Canterbury. I think we're going to
see the best of them. But yes, the focus listen,
we can do this topic and you and Gordon can
(19:21):
do this topic every week for.
Speaker 4 (19:22):
The rest of the season.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
Will you probably will.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
And I've got to be shocked when he said this
time for our favorite topic. I thought he would go
West Tigers, but no, it's Galvin.
Speaker 8 (19:33):
He We haven't spoken of them for a while now,
but I expect them to improve.
Speaker 3 (19:40):
I expect them incrementally to get better by the week.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
It was interesting listening to some of the Bulldogs players
talk today Dan where they are all speaking about defense
and how everything that they've achieved this year has been
built around this system that Cameron Serraldo has built and
implemented at Canterbury Bankstown that teleported them to the top
of the competition table. There wasn't a lot about the attack,
but the attack is why Galvin is now wearing that
(20:03):
number seven jumper. I thought we saw enough for him
last Saturday night, a silkie pass at the end, a
great support try earlier in the opening half. Is a
work in progress. He's only twenty years old, but I
got no doubt that they will be better in the
long run with him wearing that jumper.
Speaker 9 (20:20):
Yeah, I don't think they win the game without him,
because who in that side is doing that in that
club is doing that pass that he did to win
the game. So simply, I think they will get better
with him there.
Speaker 8 (20:29):
I think they need to get better though, they need
to get better. You think he's got his eyes set
on kicking.
Speaker 2 (20:36):
I love this battle. I was looking at some old
vision of these two when they've clashed previously with Manly
and Canterbury week one of the finals last year, and
then also leading into the finals last year, and they
play Hamali's back on the right side for mainly, Billy's
on the left for the Dogs. You've got DC and
Burton parked in the harves for them the ball and
these two will go at it. They could be the
(20:58):
raging Bulesque.
Speaker 8 (21:00):
The Seagulls are sarring for three straight wins. Has Sieb's
speculation died down?
Speaker 2 (21:06):
Now? Is he in the comfort zone? He's in a
holding pattern, I would say. If I wouldn't say the
comfort zone, I think look credit to Anthony Serbuld where
credit is due. That was an epic, gutsy win to
go down the Melbourne Old Boys day and to come
up with the right answers against the competition favorites. You
(21:27):
can't take anything away from that. But they're still in
negotiations to try and sort the Turbo Brothers out. We
all know this is going he hasn't really explained the
real entire reasoning behind why he's made that decision. It's
still an unsettled style of a joint. I don't think
they're all on the same page, and I don't think
they all truly believe in what he's always selling.
Speaker 3 (21:49):
They prove nothing on Saturday except they can be really
good teams. But we talked about this last night. That's
not the problem for Manly. The problem is when they
play the lesser teams, and if they put a score
on Canibury this week.
Speaker 4 (22:03):
You wouldn't be shocked.
Speaker 3 (22:04):
They did it to them last year late in the
regular season. But then what are they going to do
the two weeks after that.
Speaker 9 (22:09):
That's the problem, and that's been the problem for two
years really, that consistency of the best and worst. There's
too much of gap. But as for said, look, they're
in the top eight at the moment, they stay in
the top eight.
Speaker 8 (22:18):
He'll be right all right now he the Jboivich boy's
talking to the club. At the moment Jake expected to
take a haircut.
Speaker 4 (22:24):
Where are they at with this?
Speaker 11 (22:25):
You know?
Speaker 2 (22:26):
Yeah, Look, I love Jake Traboyvich along with Josh Paplo.
He's one of my favorite players just because the effort
and you know that everything with him is going to
be whatever. He's got the tank every week. But I
think at this stage of his career and at the
point that he's at, he understands he's not being unreasonable
about the fact that I think he's on nearly moon
dollars at the moment, so he's well aware that he's
(22:47):
probably going to have to accept around half of that.
I think that's where the market sits at the moment.
He won't play for any other club other than Mainly.
He stated that numerous times, and Tommy, I think now
the club will probably get to around the eight hundred
eight fifty mark, which I think, given where he's at
and the injuries he's at and everything, that's probably about
right too, all right.
Speaker 8 (23:08):
Informok Blake Brailey has rejected Carnella's initial contract offer, but
their skipper is confident the number nine is stay input.
Speaker 11 (23:16):
His whole family's entrenched in the club. You know, obviously
Jaden's moved on, but he's started here and yeah, I
know how much the club means to him. So I
would imagine Lake would want to be here and the club,
of course they'd want him here as well. So yeah,
they'll work hard to get that done. But I don't
think it'd be too tough for thhim to get over
the line. I'm pretty sure.
Speaker 4 (23:37):
Oh this is an interesting one.
Speaker 8 (23:39):
Blake Brailey the inform nine, if not the informed player
of the competition as we speak. He's a Cronella junior,
a Kronella local through and through, lives there, his dad
works for the club, his family grew up there, but
he's rejected their first offer. Not penny Stations, why a.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
Corners Cults Junior Braith and I think the Black, White
and Blue of made a grave era here in they've
just been a little slow out of the gates, and
I'd even go as far as to say they've probably
low balled him. Because if this young bloke and the
dynamic running game that he's shown over the course of
the last month continues to go the way that it is,
(24:18):
he's available as of November one. I would suspect that
plenty of clubs, possibly even someone like the Perth be
startup joint, would pay up to a million dollars to
try and land his signature because you can build a
club around him.
Speaker 8 (24:32):
Can and he's off twenty seven, yes, so it's timing
yeah for twenty seven, So that's good timing for the Bears.
Speaker 4 (24:40):
Even P and G the year after is young.
Speaker 3 (24:43):
Enough and is important enough as a number nine to
be a perfect target for that club.
Speaker 4 (24:48):
You said lowball though, what have they offered him? What
a roundabouts?
Speaker 2 (24:53):
You know, I don't think it's anywhere near Yeah, I'd
say it's around six fifty or something around right. I
don't think it's anywhere near where it needs to because,
like I said, well, like I said, I think if
I'm looking at the Perth Bears and the names we
keep hearing, they're going to target players of the ilk
and statue in the game, people like Tino for Silmo
(25:14):
are we Camera Munster and Blake Brayley. To me, that
makes a lot of sense, great leaders at an emerging
young talent. Tino's got an option in his deal which
means that he is available, and Cameron, you'd have to
have a conversation with the storm.
Speaker 9 (25:28):
The other issue and the stumbley block, has been the
length of the contract. Brailey's camp want five years, so
it's a six year essentially agreement to remain there. Because
he's got twelve months on his contract. The Shark's deal
was for three extra seasons, so four more years, so
that's quite significant as well when you sit down and
break down the deal. He's the form player of the competition.
I think James Dedesko has been the best player of
(25:48):
the competition, but he has been the form player of
the competition and so much so. Like you know, he's
outplayed Harry Grand, He's outplayed Reece Robson over the past.
Speaker 5 (25:57):
Month or so. He's been outstanding in my opinion.
Speaker 8 (26:00):
This is a bit of wheeling and dealing. He won't
go anywhere and the Sharks will come to the table. Now,
if you haven't heard it already, Kevy Walters is the
new Kangaroos coach.
Speaker 4 (26:09):
Today we finally heard from the great Man.
Speaker 6 (26:12):
Really proud firstly and foremost to be given the opportunity
to coach the Kangaroos. I've certainly played as a Kangaroo
and many times, but now to get the opportunity to
coach them, it's it's really exciting and I feel really privileged.
Twelve month contract, the opportunity time for me to come
in and get some hard work done and prepare these
guys so what will be a very tough series. I
just want to explain to those players that are contemplating,
(26:34):
I totally understand their situation, but let's get the kangaroos
opportunity in front of them and see.
Speaker 4 (26:40):
Where they're at.
Speaker 2 (26:40):
With that, you'll desire to coach Chuck to work.
Speaker 6 (26:44):
Yeah, my desire is to catch the kangaroos. But I'm
certainly really thrilled about the opportunity.
Speaker 4 (26:49):
That I've been given.
Speaker 2 (26:50):
Can we brilli you out of a job fiction?
Speaker 4 (26:52):
Certainly at the moment.
Speaker 6 (26:53):
Well, my focus is the Kangaroos and England will be
tough and we've got to be ready to take that
toughness on.
Speaker 8 (27:00):
Congratulations to Kevy the new Australian coach. We love him
here at Fox Lea. He's an absolute legend and what
an opportunity it is for the great man. I'm very
excited for him and I'm looking forward to him getting
the opportunity because he deserves it.
Speaker 4 (27:12):
Kevy and I think he's going to do a really
good job.
Speaker 2 (27:14):
I love this appointment. Boys from a proud rugby league family.
Out of Ipswich, he's worn the Green and gold his
coach the Marines took the Broncos to a Grand Final.
Kevy is absolutely the best candidate for that job. And
I'll tell you what he might be able to do.
He might just be able to flip pain halfs and
Tino from playing for some are. He's very close with
(27:35):
Painhlf from his time at the Broncos. He might just
be able to convince him to continue to wear the
Green and goals. This is actually a no brainer in
all honesty.
Speaker 3 (27:43):
You mentioned what he did with Queensland and Tours Braith.
Speaker 2 (27:46):
What do they know?
Speaker 3 (27:46):
They need a good man managing a player's coach, and
he's a perfect Chris Anderson's style. Let the players have
their way a little, but when it's time to get serious,
we get serious.
Speaker 5 (27:59):
Coach.
Speaker 8 (28:00):
What's the with these hotels and grounds and everyone's been
harping on to be out of They all sort it
or I'll.
Speaker 5 (28:04):
Speaking to the nr on hond of.
Speaker 9 (28:06):
There was an issue that Brad Pitler face why he
ruled out of the job, brought himself out of the job.
Speaker 5 (28:11):
But the NRLL have everything booked.
Speaker 9 (28:12):
It's just on hold because they wanted to speak to
the coach and ensure the coach was happy with whether
the accommodation was what the training fiels will look like,
what training days would be. So it's all in place
for Caver to go and rub a stamp at all
and have a smooth transition into the head coaching role
of the train side.
Speaker 4 (28:26):
Beautiful. That's great to hear. We can put that to be.
Speaker 8 (28:28):
The Roosters are desperate to stay in the finals. Racing
Trent Robinson has a simple message.
Speaker 12 (28:34):
We're pretty clear on how we want to attack the
game tomorrow night and how we want to play some
Roosters footy. Feel like we've we've missed it a little bit,
we've played it a lot this year, but all that
matters is playing that tomorrow night.
Speaker 2 (28:46):
How'd you seeing the combo between Walks and sand and.
Speaker 12 (28:49):
Yeah, it's a funny thing. They're really close, they know
each other really well. They haven't played a lot together
in those specific roles, but they've also played Roosters style
a lot. So trust our system and also trust their
combination as friends and an intuition there about how they
like playing the game.
Speaker 8 (29:09):
Robo says they need to play Rooster's footy I got
asked today what is Rooster's footy? And a few years
ago I could have answered that, But I'm.
Speaker 7 (29:23):
Whining one week, whining one week.
Speaker 4 (29:29):
In the scene he's withdraw my combine.
Speaker 3 (29:38):
Car off into full prices.
Speaker 4 (29:43):
The mark he will be going will be gone with
in a few days. Anyway, were Rooster's footy?
Speaker 8 (29:49):
Yeah, it's yeah, in all honesty, you know, I think
you could identify what that was at a certain style
they played a few years back, or even you know,
when they when Strabo's had them right.
Speaker 4 (29:59):
But but at the moment, I don't quite know what
that is.
Speaker 8 (30:03):
That they've struggled with errors and you know that they
haven't been already to get that continuity and rhythm in
their game. They've kind of shot themselves in the foot.
But when they're at their best, I still don't know
what Rooster's footy is, do you guys know?
Speaker 3 (30:16):
All when you say rossus footy on thinking of Tedesco
bouncing around in the middle and Bradley ball playing that
sort of footy, am I sort of in the ballpark there.
Speaker 8 (30:24):
I think he thinks more like tough and in their
face and bashing them. And then yeah, of course the
footy off the back of that. But there was a
style where they were consistent a few years ago where
they would control the footy.
Speaker 4 (30:35):
They bashed teams and then they had the.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
I go back to those premiership winning years of twenty
nine and when it was Jared, it was boy and
it was Jake. Yeah, they had some real steal They
had a hard edge, they went after sides with baseball bats,
and then they were also flamboyant and would take risks
and robot if you look at the raw numbers the Roosters,
they often make a lot of errors, get heavily penali
(31:00):
and make a lot off floats like they do like
to try and chance their arm to a degree. But yeah,
people often shake their heads and get a bit mystified
about what Rooster's football.
Speaker 8 (31:12):
Actually, I think that shows what that is because at
the moment, it's hard to identify you're an acredited.
Speaker 5 (31:18):
It is hard to It is hard to identify, not anymore.
Speaker 4 (31:23):
Your shirt one, not your shirt too anyway, it's it is.
Speaker 9 (31:26):
Hard to identify because of the turnover of players, right
and the injuries that they've had and Sam Walker just
coming back. So yeah, I'm like you, I'm not exactly
sure what this year of what do you want to say?
Speaker 4 (31:37):
Did you catch first?
Speaker 2 (31:41):
I think they were looking for their soul last week too,
that was Robbo's press conference and the lead up to
the pron Elegant. They haven't found their soul yet. There's
a little bit of eat, pray love. Hang on, we've
just got Uncle Nick on the phone again.
Speaker 8 (31:53):
Confirm the trouble, make sure security walking to the carts
all right, Jana is your key playing match for around
twenty one thanks to Ozzie Broadband.
Speaker 2 (32:02):
Is Bomgallan, the Troocks and Melbourn Tomorrow night at Alians
Cannot Wait and Semi Walker up against Jerome Hues.
Speaker 9 (32:09):
Yeah, the blockbuster at the SFAs Formlin Bronson Cherry Back
