Speaker 1 (00:13):
So mental skills is a one of the big themes.
But all I know is we've got to get better
and that's why we're here the next couple of days.
The situations that are uncomfortable. Number one reason we are
here is to try and help us win the premiership
in twenty twenty five boys as a trophy sitting there
that seventeen teams have equal rights to it all matters
(00:36):
and this year basically it matters again.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
Back in Vegas, when the premiership coach began steering his
Panthers towards five straight, betcha, he's thinking about gifted opponents
like this guy, like the Storm captain Parry Grant, all thunder.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
And lightning, very very frightened.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
Suddenly the twenty twenty five finals arrived, all live here
on Fox League. First up this Friday night. It's the
Melbourne Storm and the Canterbury Banks Down Bulldogs Katoa versus kick.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
Out Ouch Ouch ouch.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
Cam Munster gone like a breath of wind and Stephen
Crichton imagine him coming at you, the runaway truck with
no ride nada.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
The Dogs Market.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
Saturday Saturday from two point thirty sudden death Finals football
and we're across the ditch on high alert for the
New Zealand Warriors and the aforementioned Henreth Panthers. Despite coach
Cleary's preseason Theatrics East Panthers, they appeared cactus running dead,
(01:55):
last of the seventeen teams after twelve rounds of petition.
Seventeenth then the Magic Return Hire the Big Show back
on the road, Warrior's coach Andrew Webster's no stranger, having
performed as Ivan Cleary's assistant at the Panthers for their
(02:18):
twenty twenty one and twenty twenty two premiership triumphs. With
his inside knowledge, Webster pinched Kiwi international James Fisher Harris
from Penrith. Yeah, and he found Lacquer Hallaeseima in New
Zealand Rugby.
Speaker 4 (02:38):
Lacquer the Wrecker.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Saturday Night Sudden death again, this time the Sharks and
the Roosters.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
Here we go.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
Stay calm, stay clear.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
Read Craig Fitzgibbon and Trent Robinson. They're old mates, which
is rare with coaches in our game.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
Fitzi served as.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
Robbo's assistant for the trucks last premierships twenty thirteen, eighteen
and nineteen.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
But it will be all bets.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
Off comes Saturday night. For the inform Roosters there's the
high flying Wars and they get out of here options
shit made rugby league. And for the Sharks there's Nico
Hines for finesse and then there's Adam Fanua Blake as
in one of.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
Your business, buddy, let's play.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
Food it Yeah good one. Then Sunday two point thirty.
Guess is what finals football's all about? The Raiders and
the Broncos.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
Now that's gonna get the broncast rolled up. What a
match up? Don't you just love rugby league?
Speaker 2 (03:47):
The last time these two met in finals was nineteen
ninety five, still rated one of the greatest rugby league
matches ever. In the halves alone, it was Laurie Daily
versus Evan Walters, captains Ricky Stewart and Alan langer Stick
and Alfie. History shows the Raiders won four to eight eight,
(04:12):
but trust me there was no loser.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
This time around.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
It's Hudson Young and Ethan Strange up against Rhyce Walsh
and Payne Hears.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
How's that live?
Speaker 2 (04:26):
And in four k ultra HD the way I like it?
Speaker 4 (04:31):
So let's go eighteens eight games.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
The NRL Finals right here on Fox League.
Speaker 5 (04:43):
If that doesn't fire you up, nothing will. Welcome to
NRL three sixty Rugby League from every angle, brought to
you by Regain, joining me again the great Gordon Tallis,
Lol Crawley and Dean Richie. What a teaser that was
to get it started for this year's semi five, which
I believe are the most open in recent times.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
Would you agree? Yeah? Absolutely? But how good was that teaser?
Speaker 4 (05:06):
My name's great.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
Maybe he was refereeing too right at the end.
Speaker 4 (05:09):
How good it really is? Braith Like?
Speaker 6 (05:12):
Honestly, you look at all the teams in the top
eight and on their day, anyone can beat anyone. And
I think that's the genuine theme of this season and
it comes down to the best aid teams and good luck.
Speaker 7 (05:24):
Maddie Enable knows how to get the juices flowing, doesn't
even He's a genius, that man. I'm looking forward to
the Raiders Broncos full house at Goo Stadium.
Speaker 4 (05:31):
Raiders haven't been in this position for many years. It's
going to be an absolute belter. You're fired up, I'm ready,
You're glowing.
Speaker 7 (05:38):
I'm really into it about the new sponsor Regain.
Speaker 4 (05:42):
Are they hair growth. So what about good did you
hold up?
Speaker 5 (05:48):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (05:49):
Actually, but it's for people like you and Buzz that
they're trying to hold on.
Speaker 4 (05:54):
That's a thick crop.
Speaker 5 (05:56):
That's begins and outs for week one. As we look
at the sports Bet team selections, and here they are,
they're coming here it is. Grant returns we shout at
fullback for the Storm carraz and Sexton on the extendard
bench for the Bulldogs. Kenny sidelined for the Panthers, but
(06:16):
to and Martin return for the Sharks. Trinda returns from
ankle injury for the Raiders, Papoli at propped despite injury concerns,
and for the Broncos naughty boys. Shi Asaki back after
the club band last week. But the mind games are
in full swing. I hear between the Raiders and the
Broncos Madge and Rickys and well.
Speaker 4 (06:39):
The Broncos think they're a mind games.
Speaker 6 (06:41):
They think they heard when Papali had heard his ankle
at training yesterday, they thought, oh yeah, this is just
another tricky Ricky.
Speaker 4 (06:49):
Sort of play.
Speaker 6 (06:50):
And there was a bit of drama earlier in the season,
I think it was round two and and the Broncos
had gone down there and their team bus wasn't allowed
to get behind the gates down at Cambra Stadium.
Speaker 4 (07:01):
They had to park it across the road.
Speaker 5 (07:04):
And usually usually as as an ex player, I don't
know if you were the same, Gordy, the bus, the
opposing team bus was parked in the stadium.
Speaker 6 (07:14):
It was, it was, and in previous years the Canbra
players would drive their cars there and walk into the stadium.
Speaker 4 (07:20):
But Ricky changed things.
Speaker 6 (07:21):
Around this year in that the team came to the
ground in the bus and Madge thought, oh, what's going
on here? He's doing a job on us, making all
the players well past all, they.
Speaker 8 (07:32):
Wouldn't know he coached there, right, because you know some
games I remember like a light cart and then there
were so many people down the street. They drop you
one hundred meters up. We get we get hammered all
the way in the Bronco.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
You know.
Speaker 6 (07:43):
I think from the Raiders perspective, they just have a
bit of a gigg on it, Like I think this
game this weekend, it's it's NRL charge.
Speaker 4 (07:51):
They'd locked the gate if they could.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
Keep it was back up about yeah, was that right?
Speaker 4 (07:56):
Yeah? They did well as I understand it.
Speaker 6 (07:59):
They rang the integrity unit, the integrity or they rating
someone at the end of the rowd, and the integrity
unit when looked.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
At seriously, Yes, yes, that's what happened.
Speaker 7 (08:09):
Let's cut through the bs large doses of paranoia from
both coaches. And I love Sticky and I love Madge everyone,
but you know what, you know what, I don't think
the Raiders could be bothered playing mind games about a
team bus.
Speaker 4 (08:21):
Surely they've got bigger things to worry about.
Speaker 7 (08:23):
And I think some coaches in the fair Nigham steaks though,
they need to feel like they're being belittled or disrespected
or disparaged.
Speaker 4 (08:30):
That's what drives them. That's what they tell their team
about that no one rates us. And that's what you've
seen that right now.
Speaker 3 (08:37):
Last year we said.
Speaker 5 (08:38):
Both of these coaches are now for it, both of
them for using things like this as motivations teams up.
Now it has been set in the past of these
two mates. But I'm here and they're not quite as
good as mates. What everyone thinks is that is that
right or not?
Speaker 6 (08:53):
I don't think they ever were great mates. Like It's
not like Ricky and Craig Bellamy or Ricky and Kevy
waldersh you know where they're genuine friends and they have
been like what happened was McGuire played at camp, right,
you know, and they knew one another. And then and
then when the Raiders were looking for a defense coach
(09:13):
two years ago I think it was or three years ago,
he took the job down there and they worked together.
I think there was a little bit of animosity when
Madge left. I don't think well, I certainly know that
the Raiders didn't think Madge was completely upfront when he
was going for the new South Wales job, right, and
(09:34):
then he was also trying to hold onto the Kiwi
job and he wanted to stay at the Raiders, and
then basically ended up losing the Kiwi job too, and
the Raiders made their decision to let him go to
And I think at that stage, you know, everything wasn't
hunky dory, but as you know, that's rugby league.
Speaker 4 (09:52):
Look, I don't think there's any major drugs. I think
you're right was I don't think it was a full
on blue but you're quite right.
Speaker 7 (10:00):
When Madge went to the Blues, they were asking him
questions and the Raiders don't feel that Madge was being
totally up front of them. And you know what, Ricky's like, Ricky,
if you're a mate, you're a mate, You're up front
and tell the truth.
Speaker 4 (10:12):
And I think that's where there was a fallout. I
think at that.
Speaker 7 (10:16):
Time a few Raiders officials said, come on, boys, get
into a room and sort it out.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
And they have.
Speaker 4 (10:21):
They're okay now, but there was a little bit of
unease among the.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
Pair of them someday. Ricky, Yeah, you know if you
didn't like it, Oh yeah, he'd tell you. He'd tell
you straight, no doubt.
Speaker 4 (10:33):
Ricks like, don't you break if you're a mate, you're
a mate.
Speaker 3 (10:36):
And it doesn't hold gudges, no bs.
Speaker 5 (10:40):
You know, you got two of you got two of
the most passionate coaches that they've ever coached in our game,
going in similar.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
Styles, and it will rub off.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
It will rub off on the players. When you think
about this game.
Speaker 6 (10:52):
The thing that excites me as much as watching the
way that these sides going about attack, it's the two
Ford packs going.
Speaker 4 (10:58):
After each other.
Speaker 5 (10:59):
We'll just before we get to any of that, Josh, Papa,
how serious is the injury though? Have we heard any
clear information out of Canber Is he in serious?
Speaker 4 (11:08):
Now, yeah, he is well.
Speaker 6 (11:09):
He definitely went down at training yesterday. He definitely left
the field in a moon boot. He's been in it since.
I think he took it off this morning and did
some like rehabilitation sort of work and then.
Speaker 4 (11:21):
Put it back on.
Speaker 6 (11:23):
He's in huge doubt for the game, but but the
Raiders are still hoping he'll play.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
And I don't know.
Speaker 6 (11:29):
You tell me, like an ankle injury, big man like that,
your mobility, how does it affect you?
Speaker 3 (11:36):
Well? It does?
Speaker 4 (11:39):
Is he in a moonboot? I'm just joking, breath, I'm
just joking. Games. Let's whack a moonboot on him.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
I'm geeing youp bath.
Speaker 4 (11:49):
You know I am. That's on backwards.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
Like your head. Pleasant queens.
Speaker 7 (11:57):
Maybe, I think with his experience, but you know what,
they will miss him if he doesn't play. It's a
young side playing probably the biggest game of the most
of their careers, and they're going to need Big Papa
out there to lead the way.
Speaker 5 (12:11):
On the flip side to Rhys Walsh, he limped off
the training field today. Have we got any further information
as to how serious this year?
Speaker 4 (12:20):
Ye know, he's okay.
Speaker 7 (12:20):
I checked him with bomba Badell the staffternoon, he was
all over it. It's calf tightness. He did hobble off
the field as you can see right there. They've checked
in with Michael mcguy. He's fine.
Speaker 4 (12:30):
There isn't a problem.
Speaker 7 (12:31):
It was more precautionary and he will be most certainly
there at full back, which.
Speaker 3 (12:37):
After a warm up one of those games. I think
it was a new guys. Yeah, he got his knee,
which he looks like he'll be fine.
Speaker 7 (12:47):
Sorry, both Adam Reynolds trained with the second string side
the day, so we're back out there running training, but
obviously he's not playing in this.
Speaker 5 (12:53):
Adam Reynolds coming up on the show so we can
ask him ourselves when he will be back.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
Hopefully it's next week now.
Speaker 5 (13:00):
Reethe Walsh, he has been in great form Crawls and
you've been a fan of the way that he's played.
Speaker 3 (13:05):
I certainly have what do you put it downswer?
Speaker 4 (13:08):
You know what the.
Speaker 6 (13:10):
Broncos on the weekend and Reecee Waltz in particular, he
played like everyone has been wanting him to play all year.
There was no mistakes, well there was one. There was
one drop ball in that game the previous week he'd
made six ll No one was ever critical of what
Reee Walsh can do. It was like minimizing the mistakes,
playing with a bit more maturity, and I on the weekend.
Speaker 4 (13:32):
He was breathtaking, you know.
Speaker 6 (13:34):
And that's the Broncos that we've been waiting to see
all season and they've got it right at the right
time of the year.
Speaker 4 (13:41):
Clinched him at top four spot.
Speaker 6 (13:43):
And you know, you walk away from watching them on
the weekend you think, wow, Now, if they're not favorites,
they probably should be going into this final series.
Speaker 7 (13:51):
Gordy, I'll ask you, do you think Walsh's form has
lifted because he's getting earlier ball with any hat And
please don't mistake that crack Adam, I'm not. I'm just saying,
though break, is he getting earlier ball and is he
benefiting from Ben Hunt?
Speaker 8 (14:07):
Just looked at he was first receiver for like a
lot of that so probably without a dominant number seven
and Ben Hunt playing that role, I think he's got
early ball. But just said he was first receiver. He
was dumby half. He got in there and he just
made the plays. I think he probably had a bit
more time. Sometimes when Reese is at the back. You know,
the defenders do rush up on him. We saw New
South Wales have a lot of success. So when he's
(14:28):
you know, first off the ruck, he's probably got a
bit more time to play the ball.
Speaker 3 (14:32):
That's what I've been what.
Speaker 5 (14:32):
I think probably before pre Adam Reynold's injury, it was
Reese trying to defend in.
Speaker 3 (14:38):
With the way that and the style that the team
plays with Adam.
Speaker 5 (14:42):
After this past month, it'll be Reeese coming back and
Adam actually needs to acclimatize to.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
The style in which they're playing. Now. Can he do that?
Speaker 4 (14:50):
Break even how long he's played the game in a
certain style, he can't.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
I believe it. I know you might have a different opinion, Gordy.
I think he can because he is experience.
Speaker 5 (15:00):
It's in big games and winning Grand Final and all
that he's kicking game is brilliant. He just I think
it's better for him. I think the less is more
for Adam really. But the big thing for Brisbane is
when they do go off.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
The rails, which they haven't done too badly. Yeah, but
that's not saying final footy.
Speaker 5 (15:18):
In past weeks they made a lot of errors, but
Reees just his brilliants was got them back in the
game and won them the games. But in finals, you
make that amount of errors, you're most likely not going
to win against the top team. So I think he
can bring that composure, that game playing, game management that
they do need if they do get.
Speaker 3 (15:35):
Under the pump, but still let Reese play it's just respall.
I think no, because I think he's earned the right.
Speaker 8 (15:42):
Yeah, I mean he's young, he's like and just the
way that they've attacked and when they lost the seven
and six there was a huge question mark over ben
Hunt coming in and especially the way that he left
the Dragons and Rees and Billy Wolders that was playing
nine that scored nearly forty points a game and they
beat Melbourne where they hadn't beaten.
Speaker 6 (16:02):
About you know who's seven in Adam or Ben hand?
Is it also the fact that there's one dominance seven
out there, There's not the two.
Speaker 4 (16:11):
Blokes who have played their lives.
Speaker 6 (16:12):
It's half back and what Billie Walters has also brought
to them and how he frees it up.
Speaker 4 (16:18):
I reckon that's probably as.
Speaker 3 (16:19):
Much as working.
Speaker 5 (16:21):
There's an argument to keep, especially if they go out
and kill it this week. There is an argument there
to keep them in the halves, and you spoke about
a Gordy on the weekend. Many agree, but I just
think the class of Remo you have to put him
back in there now is the captain.
Speaker 3 (16:34):
That's good observation. You've got some minor concerns about the
Raiders though.
Speaker 7 (16:39):
More just concerns about their their experience in finals footing.
They haven't been there before for a long time. Ricky's
brought this up himself, so I don't think I'm talking
totally out.
Speaker 4 (16:49):
Of school here.
Speaker 7 (16:49):
They've played sixty six games of finals football's combined. The
Broncos are at ninety five. So can they adapt to
the excruciating pressure of finals footing. We will find out
them off like you did paramatter.
Speaker 5 (17:03):
But you know what, having said that, you're making a
lot of apologies to day before you actually say and
don't take this the wrong way.
Speaker 4 (17:10):
Don't take this the wrong you can read my mind.
Speaker 7 (17:14):
I think the Broncos should be favorites given Camera's lack
of experience in the final.
Speaker 4 (17:19):
I think the Broncos with that star stuarded.
Speaker 3 (17:20):
Side, they got the minor premiership.
Speaker 4 (17:23):
I know that Camera, I know they did no he
doesn't need to thank me.
Speaker 7 (17:29):
I think the fact that they are so inexperienced in
this Broncos side is full of troop, full of big names.
I think the Broncos will be favorites or should be favorites.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
Okay, what do you think?
Speaker 4 (17:39):
I think that Canbra have earned the tag of favoritism.
Speaker 6 (17:42):
They've stood up all year, from round one until now
they finish the competition as the best team. They've got
great experience in their forward pack. You know they're they're
young guys that you're talking about that don't have experience,
have been their best players all year. You know that
Ethan Strange and Ko Weeks have just been extraordinary. I
don't think there's any doubt the World Stranger is going
to aim up and this is same with Weeks. I
(18:02):
think they're a very tough side and I think the
question about for me is that of all the teams,
or especially in the top four, that the Raiders would
probably least like to play. It's like you know they
say in box and styles make fights. Well, the Broncos
are probably the closest thing to the Raiders that you
can get and it will really be a gunslinger shooting
(18:23):
the only.
Speaker 5 (18:24):
Question I've question mark I've got over the Raiders, And
Kooper Krong said the other day as well, he's Jamal Fayed.
He's been amazing for them, and he has really complimented
the young guys and the speed and even their forward pack,
like he's exactly what they need right now with his
you know, he's got he's got a cool head, he's
got a great kicking game, and he's got he executes
(18:45):
the game plan. But the big thing for Jamal is
will he deliver on the biggest stage under pressure in
big moments. That that's that's the only question mark I've got.
Speaker 8 (18:55):
And he missed the field goal the other weekend, the penalty,
and and he missed the conversion he which which could have.
Speaker 4 (19:01):
Won the game.
Speaker 5 (19:01):
And I was thinking about the finals because I have
had that question mark for a few weeks. Not because
I don't believe in him or I don't think that
he can do it, it's just that we haven't really
seen it yet.
Speaker 8 (19:11):
I regon this question marks on every set of halves
except for Nathan Clearing in the final.
Speaker 5 (19:15):
Good point all right now, Laurie Daily, I'm a verge
of possibly joining Seabold's coaching team at Manly.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
Where's this come from?
Speaker 7 (19:22):
Yeah, I spoke to a lot of about an hour
ago and he considered the story is on the money.
It was broken in the Daily Telegraph today by Mick
carry Arnas. Laurie did, however, say that hasn't gone too
far further than just a preliminary phone call. He has
planning to meet Anthony Seabolt tomorrow for a cup of coffee.
No role has been offered, No job has been offered,
(19:44):
and Lurie hasn't spoken to the new South Wales rybillity.
Speaker 4 (19:47):
What role look to be confirmed?
Speaker 3 (19:50):
Break?
Speaker 7 (19:50):
But I think it's going to be along the lines
of a sounding board for Anthony Seabolt.
Speaker 8 (19:55):
Sooard is that the new South Wales League would allow
that because you don't know go into a full time coach.
Speaker 3 (20:03):
He's just keeping his key role.
Speaker 5 (20:08):
But if I'll be confused, if anything, Sea Bowl is
looking to step away from heady coaching to be a
head of football, what is the possible next head of football?
Speaker 3 (20:17):
And a sounding board?
Speaker 4 (20:19):
Well, seabolls not stepping away next year.
Speaker 3 (20:21):
Now that's not my point. It's not my point. We
know that he's gone for another year coaching.
Speaker 5 (20:25):
What I'm trying to say is if he's about to
just take over his head of football, you would think
he wouldn't need a sounding board, he just need an
assistant coach.
Speaker 7 (20:33):
I think Seeds is just trying to find it, and
he looked this year was disappointing. They came home, okay,
they finished on thirty points, so it wasn't taking.
Speaker 3 (20:40):
NIS's john No, okay. So it's totally different roles for different.
Speaker 7 (20:47):
It's like someone the I guess you could argue it's
a mentoring role, if that's how it unfolds over coffee tomorrow.
I think Sea Bulls just trying to find the missing
expercent that they didn't find this year.
Speaker 3 (20:58):
Prs done for merely try to get one of the
most popular.
Speaker 7 (21:02):
Look if they did that to Laurie, I think you'd
be a bit disappointed. So I don't think that's the case.
Speaker 4 (21:05):
Good. I hope it's not.
Speaker 5 (21:06):
I think Laura would be great, you know, the greats
the oating board, if that's what they're after, Like he'd
be very experienced, one of the greatest to play the game,
and you know he'd be enormous in that regard.
Speaker 3 (21:16):
It it's just a bit of a strange role.
Speaker 6 (21:18):
Does that answer the questions that have come out of
that club this year more relate to what's happening within
the club and the dynamics between the coaching staff and
I'm talking about Seabolt and other coaching staff, and then
you're talking about the players and some of the players like,
will that fix the problem?
Speaker 3 (21:36):
We having a good guy.
Speaker 4 (21:37):
Laurie's a blake that's been around the game.
Speaker 6 (21:39):
We all know he's one of the most likable fellas
in the game and he's got great experience. But is
that going to fix the machinations inside that club? That's
what That's what you asked yourself, because the problems that
they had this year go beyond Sea Bolt having someone
to shoot things through with that.
Speaker 7 (21:57):
He concern I've got breath is Laurie is the origin
for you South Wales? If he is a line to
an aeraal club. Is their potential accusations of conflict of
interest in.
Speaker 3 (22:10):
Billy Slater helps out Melbourne?
Speaker 4 (22:13):
That's all The question was going to stay on?
Speaker 6 (22:16):
Well, Madge wanted to stay on as the assistant that
the Raiders the new South Wales Rugby League.
Speaker 4 (22:20):
I have only had a problem with giving the job
to a head coach.
Speaker 5 (22:25):
What I would say though was Laurie's got a fair
job editing in New South Wales, you know what I mean.
He's going to have a lot of heat on in
this year to deliver after last year, so he doesn't
want any distractions.
Speaker 4 (22:34):
He's got his morning radio program too.
Speaker 7 (22:36):
Yeah I'm on there, oh yeah, on the radio making
But I think we won our time slot.
Speaker 4 (22:43):
Goodon, I might have picked you and triple him.
Speaker 3 (22:45):
What times are just for from the morning.
Speaker 4 (22:53):
Buzzes on? You know, you know he's claiming the triple
in victory today. We won the ratings just currently.
Speaker 5 (23:00):
When I was on the Great Man, I couldn't imagine
I was bringing you and Gladys start seeing. Walker is
not lacking any confidence despite his side heading into the
finals from eighth position, you know.
Speaker 9 (23:13):
Really confident inside inside the club. I think we've showed
our best footy sort of this back end of the
year and it's obviously gonna be a big test Tings Canala.
Speaker 3 (23:20):
They're they're obviously in good form.
Speaker 9 (23:22):
As well, and we just have to play play our
soil football and I think we're the best attacking team
in this competition and if.
Speaker 3 (23:28):
We can get our offense, you know. Up to that
as well.
Speaker 9 (23:30):
I think we are out the way that we play
our football, we can We're confident if we play our best.
Speaker 3 (23:35):
No one know one be able to match us.
Speaker 5 (23:37):
We are the best attacking team in the competition. If
we play our football, I don't think anyone can beat it.
Speaker 3 (23:44):
That's great message. I love it. Yeah, that's a big
statement though. Good on him. If they believe it, they
believe it absolutely, and you know what, the last six weeks.
Speaker 8 (23:53):
They've actually probably can put the hand up as one
of the form sides in the competition really, so don't
look at where they are and I think for the
first time maybe a winner can come out of the
top four.
Speaker 4 (24:05):
That's just a young blak.
Speaker 6 (24:07):
What is he twenty two to twenty three years of
age who has total confidence in himself and you see
it off the field as well as you do on
the field. He made a difference the moment he came
back from injury this year and he continued the whole
way through. He's a very very special player and I
love the fact that he's going into this final series
ready to rock and roll.
Speaker 4 (24:27):
And he is self believe, isn't he?
Speaker 3 (24:29):
Good Onning for having it.
Speaker 4 (24:30):
He's a been a revelation, hasn't he. He's not far
off the money.
Speaker 3 (24:32):
When you go a mentor like Brent Reed, this is
what happens.
Speaker 5 (24:35):
Just start to shine bulldogs by what's your bulldogs bite?
Speaker 3 (24:39):
Right?
Speaker 4 (24:39):
Trent Robinson.
Speaker 7 (24:40):
I have done a story about the rooster saying that
Robbo lost so many players in the off season. The
list has been well documented, and what he's done to
get them there this year, I think.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
Is that a dog.
Speaker 7 (24:56):
I have said Robbo if he can go deep given
the amount of players that he lost and he didn't
have his half back for eighteen weeks.
Speaker 4 (25:03):
Gordon stopped laughing. I think this is right up there
with his greatest ever achievements.
Speaker 7 (25:08):
Ricky's the coach of the no doubt, but I think
Robbo has done an absolutely unbelievable got.
Speaker 8 (25:13):
Some fair talent play it origin got Mark those guys
in this year. God, I know he fair talent, you know.
And with the young halves when Sam Walker was out,
I think they did an amazing job.
Speaker 3 (25:27):
Like, yeah, it's been an amazing job.
Speaker 4 (25:29):
There are three competitions.
Speaker 6 (25:31):
Hasn't he won twenty thirteen back to back. He's done
some pretty good things in the game. But you're right
in that door, doggie. I don't think Cooper. We all
thought the Roosters would be the threat they would be
this year, and he and we talk about all the
players that they've got in that squad. Well, that's a
credit to him too, and a lot of them have
come along and yeah, it's a pretty fair achievement best
(25:52):
to chieve if.
Speaker 3 (25:53):
He goes on. I agree with you.
Speaker 5 (25:56):
So you have it as a better achievement than all
the premiership I said, it's up there, up there, up there.
Speaker 7 (26:01):
I just think to get that vote if he goes deep.
I don't forget the suffocating pressure at the Roosters too.
Every year they are expected to win. So when he
lost a life, he.
Speaker 8 (26:16):
Gave Wayne Benner a B plus when he was playing
for a Wooden Spoon two games.
Speaker 3 (26:20):
Again, well, he had a lot of injuries. That's part
of the game.
Speaker 4 (26:23):
I know it is, but you've got to take that
into account.
Speaker 8 (26:26):
Actually, and the Websters and then Andrew Webster has got
a lot of injuries and you gave him a B well,
and no one thought they'd be.
Speaker 4 (26:34):
I don't think.
Speaker 3 (26:38):
Level there's dogs column, where's that dog?
Speaker 4 (26:40):
You just picked the pieces Gordon kept going, you can't
you can't put.
Speaker 5 (26:45):
Ahead of Andrew Webster this year, I just put didn't
put him made of Andrew Webster?
Speaker 3 (26:50):
You did? Plus b oh, yeah I did.
Speaker 6 (26:57):
For the way, look the Nicico Heines situation. You know,
he gets hit with a grade two after the game,
then it gets changed. I don't know if I've spoken
to anyone in the game. You know, of all the
phone calls you make and the conversations you have, I
done off. I've spoken to anyone who swallows this of
(27:19):
what's happened.
Speaker 4 (27:19):
And I know they've come out swallowing.
Speaker 3 (27:22):
Well they're not swallowing.
Speaker 6 (27:23):
There's a couple of things I'd like to have a
talk about here. Firstly, I don't think anyone has ever
seen this before. We haven't seen it before. They say
the rules there, But you know, like the fact that
we're talking about another club giving a medical report that
is going to change the grading. What happens if the
clubs hate each other? Where is the fairness in that?
(27:45):
Surely we've got to have a better system than this.
Whatever they like each other, exactly exactly. Imagine if it
was a couple of years ago we had sous and
the Roosters playing the final round of the season, and
then they played the first round of the finals.
Speaker 3 (27:57):
How's that going to go?
Speaker 4 (27:58):
It's a real dangerous incident.
Speaker 6 (28:00):
I think they've said with dang Jack, what happened a
couple of weeks ago with Stephen Crichton.
Speaker 4 (28:07):
It just leaves a bit of a sour taste in
your mouth.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
Do you think that the incident deserves to be a
hip drop? No?
Speaker 6 (28:13):
I don't, and in that respect, right, it's the right decision.
But Gordon, the process has got to go through the
correct channels. And for me and everyone else I've spoken
to just but is that a smartest given ail?
Speaker 8 (28:26):
You're expected to swallow smile, saving time and money instead
of dragging everybody, And they go, you know what, we.
Speaker 6 (28:32):
Know there's a There's just as big a problem I've
got with this too, is the fact that Nico Hines
did that tackle late in the game. Right, Montoya goes down,
He's got at that stage they think it's a serious
ankle injury. He leaves the field, right, it's not a
classic hip drop, but he landed on his leg, landed
(28:54):
on his thing. Ru hip drops, it was a rule
to hip drop Nico stays on the field, no sin bin.
Right the previous night, twenty four hours earlier, South Sydney's
Jamie Humphries does a hip drop. Now some people might
say this is a worse hip drop, but when the
chargers are first pulled out right, they're both grade twos.
Speaker 4 (29:13):
It's a bad one moment.
Speaker 6 (29:14):
But how can he get synbin and the other bloke
doesn't get sinbin and Montoya leaves the field Siwa Wong.
Speaker 4 (29:21):
I think he got replaced in it. But that was
basically well.
Speaker 3 (29:23):
They didn't even give it a penalty. The heines one
because they missed it right, so and that one is
severely worse.
Speaker 4 (29:29):
Well, he's grade two grade too, you know, going into
the finals.
Speaker 6 (29:34):
They're going into the finals when this is on the
whim of the bunker and the referee. I think you
need consistency. You either bloody sinbinam or you don't sinbin them.
You can't have it both ways.
Speaker 7 (29:43):
The eventeral has employed the Matter View Committee to do
a job, and I think once they've reviewed it and
they've released the charges, I think you have to abide
by those rules.
Speaker 4 (29:53):
They'll probably get it wrong sometimes just as they'll get
it right. But where does this end? What about a
suspension next week? Do they now say? We challenging that.
As I said, it's a Pandora's box going into the finals.
Speaker 5 (30:03):
All rights the round Journals and there's plenty more to
come on Fox Sports after the finals, with India returning
to Australia for an eight match white ball series and
the ashes to follow, We've got you covered on Fox Cricket.
