was away. Peyton, how did it feel having the power
of being the host of this show?

One my main objective was just not to fuck up
and make sure I hit record. So that was I mean,
honestly like, once we hit record, that went well, No,
honestly went great, felt felt good about it. Would be
open to do it again, take some pressure off you,
but you honestly, put you under the gun would be better.

I think would be fun. So yeah, no, I think
it went well. I could only defer to David. I
think we went through it pretty efficiently. We kind of
like NFC South, We're like, yeah, all right, Buccaneers, move on.

I think that's a good way to put it. We're

get into what was an interesting Week one of the
college football season, I think would be the way to
describe it. Some of the perennial powers we expected to
be we're not expected to be. But I'm gonna start

with this question for everybody who had the worst performance
of the weekend. And I'm gonna give you three options.
One Bill Belichick in North Carolina, two Arch Manning against
Ohio State, or three Kid Club Nick against LSU.

I'm gonna start with you who had the worst Week
one performance?
Speaker 4 (05:00):
I Am not going to say that's Bill Belichick because
he's a first year coach with a new program. I'm
going to give him a year's grace and I don't
want to. I feel bad doing this, but I think
it's kind of something that we're gonna it. Has talked about,
is the hype around Archie Manning, mainly because I don't

want to put it all on him, because he didn't
ask for the hype. He didn't ask for everyone to
say that he's a Manning. He's a kid, He's a
kid that can it, can do good. But I think
that at the end of the day, it was very
telling that he may actually still.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
Not be ready.
Speaker 4 (05:42):
I was not impressed by his game play at all.
Not to say that there was no shining, shining part
coming forward that I've seen, no potential. There was a
ton of potential, but he just did not look comfortable.
I will also give him the grace of your first start,
your first away game at the horneshooting, I will give you.

I will give you that grace, but I will still
just say that moving forward, it was very clear that
either Ohio State is just had him rattled or he's
not right. But it's the first game this season. Give
us grace, But I think that that was possibly the
worst thing that could happen to him as far as
staying healthy and having a productive game to look very

much unready.

I I'm surprised you didn't say Alabama as a whole
in there like I thought I But I mean I
agree with of those like three David already said it,
like Bell Belichick.
Speaker 3 (06:44):
I don't think was like gonna come out like swinging
like that, like I think another thing like I heard
people talk about it. TCU also was the first person
to play Deon Sanders Prime Time, and they were shocked
when they played them the first time. Obviously, you know,
Colorado went in there won a game which I don't
think anyone thought they were going to. I think Sunny

Dike's had that experience this time. Is like we're not
gonna let this game get away from us. We're gonna
keep it. You know, We're gonna be more locked in.
We're not gonna just look past these guys, and I
mean they look I'll tell you what, I don't know
where U and c will finish up. I thought TCU
did really well throughout and they and they didn't let
up at all, like at no point, like I don't

know if it was to make a point like we're
not like some like it was a three point spread
and that's like they felt probably disrespected by that a
little bit. I thought kay Klubnick was okay. I thought
they were just some throat. I thought he he looked better,
he looked more experienced. I thought LSU's defense looked improved.
I mean that wit week skid.

Forty white kid with his shirt rolled up on LSU,
that kid's blitzing news flash. That kid is going to
fucking get to you so like it's like a speed demon.
Like he's like like Newslash. That guy's blitzing every fucking
play like he might be in the middle linebacker. He's going.
So I don't know what Pumpson's doing. Like every time
his kid's getting through there. Maybe they're getting confused because

He's like, which one is he? Again? You know which
one is the weaks guy? Okay, but uh, I thought
Art just looked like I don't know. I honestly thought
Texas was the better team. I thought the defense was better.
I the one touchdown to Carnell Tait was underthrown. It
was like, Wow, good job Carnell Way to get that

ball doing What the fuck, dude, what do you underthrow
that shit? Throw it on his numbers? I thought, also,
like Jeremiah Smith didn't look good. A lot of people
like it was a lot of jitters. I think starting
your first game, like David said at the Shoe, you know,
that's a lot. But I think there were you could tell.
I mean, he was throwing Brett far fast balls five

yards down the field, like, dude, just better that thing,
Like I think'll get a groove. I think with the
way he performed this is like knee jerk reaction. I
wouldn't I wouldn't be surprised if he stayed again. I
think his that his grandfather already kind of like let
the cat out of the bag, like he isn't leaving
after this year, so don't plan on that. I think

he's like very set on playing another year at Texas,
and I think it would do him good. I also,
I'm not to throw shade like take off like Arch
was bad, but there were a lot of like play
calling decisions that I didn't understand. For Sarkegian, he like
is the master of like motioning receivers one way, boom,
they're running out to the flat they were coming from,

Like none of that was going on. CJ. Baxter is
absolutely not the best back on that team. It's definitely
wiser and you could tell, like when he got in
boom five yards tempo, boom six yards tempo, like then
they're like, all right, we're gonna sug Baxter and and
he's doing like the la'veon Bell and the Jets where
he's trying to slow run it but he's getting tackled
for a yard. So I don't know, I thought that

was bad a coaching as well. I don't think they
set him up for success. I think Matt Patricia is
where he's supposed to be a defensive coordinator and he's
still using that stupid fucking pencil. He's got a laminated sheet,
never seen him write anything down with it, So yeah,
I mean I think that's also part of it. I
don't think they knew how good that defense was gonna be,

and I think they underestimated that significantly, which was their demise.

So yeah, yeah, I think both offenses looked amazing.
Speaker 3 (10:29):
Like I thought it was like it was crazy.
Speaker 4 (10:35):
I really wanted to say this is a defensive battle,
but I also think that both offenses left a lot
on the field and that's why That's why for me,
I think both teams came out offensively looking very bad.
But defensively, I think that both those teams, both the
defenses are going to be a problem for everybody.

Yeah, for sure, I will.

I will say when you watch North Carolina, I think
we all get wrapped up in It was Bill Belichick.
It was that hype like they should come out win.
It's not gonna happen when you have to bring in
seventy players like you basically just redid your entire team.
So realistically, it wasn't gonna sustain itself. And you could

see it last night against TCU. They got out early.
They kind of punched TCU in the mouth on that
first drive and you could see TCU was like, okay,
whether the storm weather the storm get a stop. And
then TCU got into their game plan and North Carolina
could not adjust. And let's not also remember that Stephen

Belichick was at the University of Washington last year as
a decordinator. Their numbers were top forty in college football.

But they were not good.

They were not a great defense by any means, So
keep that in mind when you look at that score
and go, holy crap, arch Manning thing Like, I didn't
watch a game. I was at the beach this past weekend,
so I but like rewatching the game and then reading

the conversations and some of the columns online about arch
I don't think it's fair when basically, like you mentioned Peyton,
everybody's kind of told you ahead of time that arch
Manning is not gonna come in and be lights out
from the word go. We all have this notion and
this idea that he's gonna go pro after this season.

Archie Manning's already told you he's gonna stay through twenty
twenty seven, and I really do believe that that isn't
just because they want him to fulfill his two years
at Texas. I really think that's the Manning family sitting
there going. He's not as polished as some of the
rest of us were at that stage, so we know

he's gonna need to to get to that. I'm the
number one pick ability. The only reason I'll pick k
Clubnick before we go back to the arch Manning thing
is because he's been in the big stages before, and
ye like I have to cut Arch a little bit
of slack because of what David said. First start at
Ohio State, first game of the year, massive crowd, that's

a hard environment for your first time.

You are the guy.

There is no Quinn Yewers, there is no I'm playing
because of an injury.

You're the guy unless you get hurt.

That's a tall task for a quarterback that has a
lot of skill and already a lot of pressure because
of the name saying I look at Kay Clubnick and
club Nick wasn't bad by any means, but you're like,
at the end of the day, he's the guy that
has the experience, he's played in the big games. He
needed in a couple of those late drives to step

up and make plays, and he wasn't able to do it.
That's why to me he had the worst performance because
he's the guy that has been in those situations before
and he wasn't able to produce this time. And if
you're Clemson, all of a sudden, you now have to
look at the acc as a whole and say, oh crap,
like Miami might be better than maybe we thought they

were gonna be coming into the year. You got Florida
State who went down and handled Alabama, And really some
of that is that Florida State defense with Mike Norvel
finally played like a smash mount defense, and I think
Florida State has wanted the last couple of years.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
Yeah, I also wanted to say, like I thought, if
you look across the board, the best quarterbacks that were
playing were at least like one, like they've already started
a year at like a full year, like Garrett not
Smier looked good, and I mean that could be just
the offense they run, like guys getting open things like that.
But he's not making bad decisions like he looked it.

He looked the part and everyone everybody's been that illustrious.
I want that Joe Burrow senior year. Everybody wants it.
And then you know, I mean, like if they get
a defense, there's nothing stopping that that team. Really, I mean,
if they can score at will, I mean, it's it's
what you're trying to chase. But like the one thing

about Florida State, I didn't think you can take whatever
you want out of it. I don't think they could
beat Miami. I thought they I know the score was
thirty one seventeen to the end of it. I thought
they let Alabama get back into the game when they
could have ended it like in the third. I thought
they let them hang around a little bit and they
let him score a touchdown field goal. Like obviously they

took control near the end, but there was a there
was a gap there where I was like once, like
it reminded me of literally like when Boston College played
Florida C last year. Wow, what an amazing play Tommy Costellanas.
It took like defenses like four weeks like, Oh, you
just got to stop that guy. Just don't let him run,
and you're good, Like someone's gonna do that, and he's

gonna do that.

Like I'm glad you said that because now we're all
wrapped up in Florida State and it's no knocking on
Florida State.

I feel like Miami, if we're gonna talk about the
EASTC teams, Miami had the more impressive showing, and I
think Miami is more of a legitimate.

Threat for the College Football Playoff.

I didn't like how they were cowardice at times, though
there were fourth and two, they should have a lot
of guys would have went to end the game, a
lot of gooven like fucking field goal, We're gonna end
the ship right here. Like I don't know. I didn't
like I didn't like how conservative he was with decisions.

But here's here's what I will say.

I do think Miami's defense is not good. I think
that was more I don't. I don't necessarily think that
was Mario Chrisi Ball being hesitant. I think that was
Mario Crisco Ball going, you know what, Carson Beck was great,
and Carson that needed to be great, and he needs
to be great, and Miami is gonna go anywhere.

He did look a little more.

Comfortable in Miami's offense, and I think we've seen we
saw him in Georgia's offense the last couple of years.
But Miami is gonna need to win with a stellar defense.
And I think that's what Mario chris Ball told you
in on Sunday against Notre Dame was I think this
defense is one of the best in college football, and

they're gonna show you because we're gonna kick the field
goal and we're gonna stuff Notre Dame to win the game,
and that's exactly what happened.

Yeah, I would agree, David, you had something you wanted

Just you have faith in your defense. You don't sit
here and you know, try and get extra down because

it like from like the offensive perspective, thinking in the moment.
But you're right, like their defense was smacking people. They
were by the way, Michael Irvins, can we talk about it?

on the team. It's like player like morale or something, right,
and he goes to all the games and things like that,
and obviously he's Tom Poole collected McConaughey. That dude embodies
what Miami football is. I mean, if he I'm just
saying it, don't there's not a zero percent chance that

he doesn't accidentally run on the field and tackle somebody
that's all I'm saying. There's not a zero as then
a chance of that that he makes a mistake like that.
But he was, man, he was fucked that. Still, I'll
never get over a cow. Last year he was on

doing that, got gotta man. I just wonder how much

felt like I didn't need to do that anymore. Like

one of the guys that wears a letterman still to
the game, and I don't. I don't want to be
that guy.

I went to one of my high school games a
couple of years ago and someone thought that I was
someone's dad. I was not. I was not father at
the time, so that was really awkward. But my point
was that I get where he's coming from, where sense
of you have that pride, that program. Yeah, I respect,
respect a little of energy. I think it's too much.

because I mean, you never see me on a sideline.

I've played for, like on his level, but if you've

a stop watch. They have to be the fastest offense
in college football, like to get set up and lined
up and run it. They were running. They were running

Like the ref is gonna be the problem of getting
the ball spot. That's the only slowing down. It's insane.
And he talked about all summer. But it's gonna be
funny when they play Pitt. Watch that game. Watch how

realized is that Jerry Jones is not truly in the

you're a better team with Michael Parsons on it than

if you're the Packers. The only part I don't like
about it is trading Kenny Clark. That because with Kenny Clark,
Sean Gary and Michael Parsons you have one of.

The best defensive lines in football.

But now you get rid of Kenny Clark, that's a
big space eater inside that all has the ability to
rush the passer up the middle. That does now take
a little bit away from your defense line. You're great
on the edges, but you would have been great all around.
And if you're gonna win. The Eagles proved it to
you in the playoffs in the Super Bowl. Your front

four across the board. It can't just be two guys rushing.
It has to be two guys head rushing and a
dominant guy in the middle that can blow the center
and the guards back into the quarterbacks lap. Green Bay,
had you not traded Kenny Clark, I would have absolutely
loved this trade. I would tell you, I think Green
Bay goes right to the top of one of the

best teams in the NFC. But as good as Michael
Parsons is and he will make that Packer defense better.

big guy in Kenny Clark in the middle to help
rush your quarterback.

because I think it's like the Packers like started their

championship and you gotta not look like shit in that

think the Cowboys will be worse off, that's not a question.

money and you would just sign him like it would

wonder for the Cowboys, is Stephen Jones better? Would he
be better for the franchise?

different than Jerry, and I think also you have to
look from a lens of Jerry Jones is from the old,

said that that team will not be successful, Bill, Jerry
Jones is no longer than GM or even the owner
of Three Steps Down, because it's just you see him

that runs his organizations like that. I think there's a

few teams that are like that. You have them. You
have Cincinnati, who every year seems to have someone that

people don't want to go to for like Charlotte No

them because they don't win, They don't make the effort
to move up and win. And so you know, Dallas

was above that point of who you don't want to
why would anyone want to go to you? But now
they've now sump into that spot of why would I
want to go to you if you're not going to
pay me what I deserve? If I'm a top five
talent in the league? Yeah, hey, a top five defensive
asset in the league. You don't want to make sure
that guy is happy because it's one thing if it's
an aging guy, like if Miles Garrett and then had

had the interaction, I don't understand because Miles Garrett is older.
But you have a guy who is who was your
first round pick, who you have told as your guy,
who said he wants to be there, he didn't want
to leave, So you have all these reasons to give
this man what he wants, and now you ship them
off to another team that's going to utilize him the
way he should be utilized, make it feel the way

he should he should feel as a perennial talent. Yeah,
it makes a team ten times better. They make their

conversation of will the Lions make it out of the
NFC North or them? But I think that they're going
to be a primes They're going to be a prime
defender in that wildcard spot if they.

I'm gonna start with you who had the worst Week
one performance?

I Am not going to say that's Bill Belichick because
he's a first year coach with a new program. I'm
going to give him a year's grace and I don't
want to. I feel bad doing this, but I think
it's kind of something that we're gonna it. Has talked about,
is the hype around Archie Manning, mainly because I don't

want to put it all on him, because he didn't
ask for the hype. He didn't ask for everyone to
say that he's a Manning. He's a kid, He's a
kid that can it, can do good. But I think
that at the end of the day, it was very
telling that he may actually still.

Not be ready.

I was not impressed by his game play at all.
Not to say that there was no shining, shining part
coming forward that I've seen, no potential. There was a
ton of potential, but he just did not look comfortable.
I will also give him the grace of your first start,
your first away game at the horneshooting, I will give you.

I will give you that grace, but I will still
just say that moving forward, it was very clear that
either Ohio State is just had him rattled or he's
not right. But it's the first game this season. Give
us grace, But I think that that was possibly the
worst thing that could happen to him as far as
staying healthy and having a productive game to look very

I don't necessarily care about him, and that that's that's

at all. I just think that he's he's serviceable for
a team that I don't think is capable of truly winning.
I think they're able of making great runs, but I

about the pending go on where he will be, I

know that Detroit is a great team all around. I
am a huge Campbell fan. I think that he is

preparing his team every year. But I'm very curious to
see how this new found Green Bay look is gonna
is gonna affect one of the best teams.
