V zahraničí je běžné, že konkrétní divadelní hra se hraje i několik desítek let, obměňují se pouze herci. U nás to ale obvykle chodí jinak. Nové premiéry vytlačují starší tituly a repertoár se neustále proměňuje. Výjimkou je však Divadlo Járy Cimrmana, které je ve stálosti repertoáru rekordmanem. Jeho nejstarší inscenace se totiž hrají od konce šedesátých let dodnes.
