1998 öppnar Ecce homo-utställningen i ett bergrum på Södermalm i Stockholm. Utställningen består av 12 bilder där fotografen Elisabeth Ohlson skildrar motiv ur Bibeln, ur ett gayperspektiv.
Den bild som väcker mest känslor är den så kallade dopbilden: två homosexuella män i en bassäng. Många uppfattar det som att Jesus på fotot är sexuellt upphetsad.
Homoutställning leder till konflikt inom kyrkan
Utställningen väcker starka känslor och blir anmäld för hets mot folkgrupp.
Under hösten vill domprosten i Uppsala visa bilderna i Sveriges rikshelgedom: Uppsala domkyrka. Det förvärrar krisen ytterligare.
