Gärningsmannens tillvägagångssätt följer ett och samma mönster: Under de tidiga morgontimmarna tar han sig in maskerad hos ensamma kvinnor, inte sällan boendes på nedre botten.
I polisens omfattande förundersökning framkommer senare att han kartlagt sina offer i förväg och i oktober 1974 döms den då 28 årige gärningsmannen för 16 våldtäkter och överfall till fyra års fängelse.
Här borde en av vår tids värsta våldtäktsmän vara stoppad från att begå fler brott. Men 1982, åtta år efter rättegången i Göteborg, gör Stockholmspolisen en fasansfull upptäckt. Den man som dömdes för våldtäkterna i Göteborg blev efter två år villkorligt frigiven. Han flyttade då till stadsdelen Södermalm i Stockholm och kommer under åren 1978-1982 att göra sig skyldig till ytterligare ett tiotal våldtäkter och överfall. Återigen är offren ensamboende unga kvinnor.
