I slutet av förra seklet förändrades modeindustrin för alltid. Några företag utformade en modell för billig, blixtsnabb massproduktion av kläder som fick unga, identitetssökande konsumenter att flockas i butikerna. Fast fashion var fött, och sedan dess har klädproduktionen växt till det dubbla.
Idag genomgår branschen ytterligare en revolution. Nya, helt online-baserade aktörer har, genom en kombination av pricksäker marknadsföring och extremt låga priser, kommit att dominera den globala klädmarknaden. Glöm idén om säsongsstyrda klädkollektioner några gånger per år; numera släpps tusentals nya modeller varje dag.
Men vem betalar det verkliga priset för de här billiga, lågkvalitativa plaggen, som i stort sett betraktas som engångsprodukter?
