Welcome to the Patriots Pregame Show fueled by Dunky.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Welcome in to this Patriots Pregame Show.

Speaker 5 (00:35):
It is Hardy in for Matt Smith along with Tamara Brown,
Mike or so, where's the other one?

Speaker 4 (00:42):
I think it wants to make a grand entrance.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Where's the other guy? Where's that guy?

Speaker 4 (00:46):
I'm doing to hit on your station right now?

Speaker 5 (00:47):
Actually, oh oh, well that's his station, his station, his station.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
I walk back into this room.

Speaker 5 (00:54):
There has been I'm going to give a soft estimate
of two hundred and fifty mills in improvements since I
left this show.

Speaker 4 (01:02):
And that was just on the footballs.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
It is unbelievable. That are those the dukes? By the way,
are those the official dukes?

Speaker 4 (01:08):
Official duke?

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Those are the dukes?

Speaker 5 (01:10):
So we got the footballs behind us, We got monitors everywhere,
We got framed eight by ten black and white glossies behind.

Speaker 6 (01:17):
You have no idea this stuff flips completely over to
the revolution.

Speaker 5 (01:21):
No, no, flip one of those pictures over.

Speaker 4 (01:24):
No, don't you dare? All right, Well, we can be
bad luck right now.

Speaker 5 (01:28):
I know, I know because the Patriots and revolution seasons
have actually been oddly in concert, I think, and we
don't necessarily want to think of them the same way
because today things change. Things change starting today in London.

Speaker 7 (01:45):
So hardy what if they change?

Speaker 8 (01:47):
Yeah, and they win because you're here, I mean you
have to come back right, Well.

Speaker 5 (01:52):
All right, when's uh, when's kickoff next week?

Speaker 2 (01:54):
What time it's one o'clocker?

Speaker 4 (01:56):
Okay, they're all one o'clock.

Speaker 7 (01:58):
I can do like you might be our good luck charm.

Speaker 5 (02:00):
Okay, well it could have happened, but I think it's
gonna happen for a multitude of reasons today. I mean,
things are lining up for this game today. Now you
could make the argument against And that's what we're gonna
do throughout the pregame show. We're going to talk with
Matt Smith, who is normally in this chair, and he's
going to join us here in a few minutes and
We'll be here for the full postgame show today. And
I love that. I love this early morning football. This

(02:21):
reminds me and I'm sure it does for you too,
dude of living on the West coast.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
Oh there, he is nice to be to join us.

Speaker 4 (02:28):
Parola the pomp and Circumstance song.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Well done, well done.

Speaker 5 (02:32):
The King enters, Oh, hi, this isn't like a fake show,
like good morning. How are you? The first time I've
seen this guy in like nine months?

Speaker 2 (02:43):
What's going on?

Speaker 9 (02:44):
Guy?

Speaker 2 (02:44):
All right?

Speaker 7 (02:44):
Hey guy, I really did miss you.

Speaker 8 (02:46):
When I found out that you were going to be
back on the show this morning, I was like, wow,
I really missed making fun of him in the morning.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
And they arguing it.

Speaker 5 (02:52):
Think about think about that. It's one thing to be
missed by someone who likes you, But when someone who
doesn't even really care for you actually say is you?
That says something about it. I think about both people,
and I think we've grown.

Speaker 4 (03:04):
There you go.

Speaker 5 (03:05):
Now, we don't have a lot of time for the
chin wagon here. We have a shortened pregame show today.
We have to get to these keys to the game.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Can we do the.

Speaker 5 (03:14):
Keys to the Game?

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Please?

Speaker 5 (03:18):
You've waited all week for it.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
The whole teas in the locker room right now, just
listening to this, waiting to hear what you're gonna say.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
Here are the Patriots pregame socials keys to the game, keys.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
To the game.

Speaker 5 (03:29):
Without these keys, the Patriots are destined and doomed to
fail against the Jaguars of Jacksonville as they play in London.
I see that Matt Smith has provided a key to
the game, which is crap.

Speaker 10 (03:42):
I agree, interim pre and post game host Matt smiths with.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
Start me up because it's the Rolling Stones. Nice. I
like that from London.

Speaker 5 (03:58):
Exactly. Oh how clever, Matt. You gotta do better than that.
But we're not gonna start with Matt. We're gonna start instead.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
With Mike do So.

Speaker 5 (04:07):
A first key to the game today.

Speaker 4 (04:09):
Is well, I didn't want to do star fast. I
feel like that's such a cliche. We heard it all week,
so I tried to like kind of what he brish
bush it up a little bit, british it up.

Speaker 5 (04:17):
Commence with Haist, you know, get going right out of
the gate, not like a mastering commander.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
This do you believe at all? Does sound right?

Speaker 4 (04:26):
I don't know. I was feeling silly when I came
up with it, I just couldn't do fast start. But
I just think that's what they talked about all week.
That's what this team needs. I'd like to see Jacksonville.
I think Jacksonville might be on the ropes a little bit.
Give their defense something equip for if the Patriots come
out getting a lead, you've got Remandre back. Maybe we
can execute the formula again, perhaps with no turnovers, good start,
good finish. We all know the boxes they got to check,

(04:48):
but that's fine, commenced with.

Speaker 5 (04:49):
Haste, please, okay, not bad? Tamara Brown, what is your
key to the game, if you would please?

Speaker 7 (04:55):
My key is do your chores.

Speaker 8 (04:58):
There's been so much laundry over the field. I'm an
OCD type of person. I'm a type of person. You
wash your clothes, you put them away.

Speaker 7 (05:05):
I'm so tired of seeing the laundry on the field.
What do I mean by that?

Speaker 8 (05:08):
Two weeks ago, twelve penalties one hundred and five yards.
Last week nine for fifty yards. If you're gonna help
this rookie quarterback, which Gerard Meo said after the press
conference against the Texans, he said, we have to do
better to help Drake May. You can help him by
picking up your laundry all over the field. Control what
you can control. Stop getting all the penalties, because this
team has such a narrow path to victory, they cannot

(05:30):
keep beating themselves with those penalties.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
She's really come into her own tall. She's really just blossomed.

Speaker 5 (05:35):
She's gotten a lot better outside show.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
She's really blossomed.

Speaker 5 (05:40):
She why she's like looking at the camera when Rose
said it, it's like your laundry.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
It's like a real show.

Speaker 4 (05:45):
I like it.

Speaker 5 (05:46):
I'm intimidated by Tamara was my one.

Speaker 7 (05:51):
I don't think you have the seriously, I like.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
What you say makes sense.

Speaker 5 (05:55):
But it was also the delivery that convinced me, even
if I didn't agree with it.

Speaker 7 (05:59):
Hey, I had to sip a coffee.

Speaker 8 (06:01):
Coffee, so I'm very key.

Speaker 4 (06:05):
I was flashing back to my mom, Michael, to your laundry, Michael,
pick up your clothes.

Speaker 8 (06:09):
I just it's like, if you're gonna help the rookie quarterback,
you can't keep backing him up every time he gets
the first down. It's like, oh, offensive line, no hold
on holding.

Speaker 7 (06:18):
It's something with.

Speaker 4 (06:19):
This team winding up in the nooseral zone.

Speaker 7 (06:21):
Last week happened the first play of the game.

Speaker 5 (06:22):
If you're going to be hamstrung by you know, personnel issues,
injury issues, whatever else. Uh, you know, rookie head coach,
how about this, don't shoot yourself in the foot play
after play after play with penalties. I like it, Tamara,
it's a fantastic key.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
Paul, good luck.

Speaker 10 (06:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
I mean I don't to uh to top that one.

Speaker 10 (06:42):
But to me, the biggest issue that they've had that
really hasn't gotten as much attention as I would think
it would is the run defense. It's it's just been
awful the last couple of weeks. It's not something I
had anywhere near the top ten of my list of
things to worry about heading into the season.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
But it's a problem. So it's fixed. The run fits.

Speaker 10 (07:02):
I just feel like one hundred and ninety two yards
rushing against Miami or one hundred and ninety three and
then one hundred and ninety two last week against Houston.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
Those numbers are absurd.

Speaker 10 (07:13):
You can't you can't allow that kind of production on
the ground. And I understand that. You know, like two
weeks ago against Miami it's a fifteen to ten game.
Then you get two hundred yards rushing, big deal. Well
last week, Mike, you made the good point in the
postgame show. Yeah it was rushing yards, but it was
like these explosive runs. You giving up a fifty four

(07:34):
yard touchdown, a fifty nine yard run that you know
somehow didn't lead to points, but a twenty yard touchdown run.
You're giving up these big plays on the ground. It
all starts up front. I think Devon Godshaw's, you know,
sort of employing his teammates the last couple of weeks
to stay disciplined and stop playing selfishly. There are problems.
You can't allow that Joe Mixon sixty yard run. There

(07:58):
was nobody over there. People are out of position. You
can't allow that kind of production on the ground. Are
they missed out making mistakes? Yes, they're missing Okay.

Speaker 5 (08:07):
They're missing one Bentley.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
But you know it also made.

Speaker 5 (08:10):
Me think of this a couple of weeks ago, and
I'm watching they miss a guy like Rob Nikovich who
was not necessarily showing up on highlight reels every week,
but the edge setter, the one guy was keeping everything honest,
and the one guy would be back there either for
a quarterback was trying to sneak around the end or
for those big run plays busted lose from a running back.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
That's what totally agree, and it's glad. I'm glad to
hear that you're paying attention.

Speaker 5 (08:33):
I am paying attention now. Obviously it's not as as
comprehensive now what I'm doing is what I was doing before,
But paying attention is enough enough to know that my
key to the game today actually goes somewhat similar to yours.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
I do.

Speaker 4 (08:48):
I gets one.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
What start me up, Matt Smith? Start me up? Okay,
start strong. Let's go first, listen what we can make
fun of the interim host? You cannot? That's untooled?

Speaker 5 (09:00):
Fair fairk Can I do my own key anyway?

Speaker 2 (09:03):
Yes you can. Okay.

Speaker 5 (09:04):
To prove that I've been paying attention to this team,
my key today is hey, diddle, diddle right down the middle. Okay,
hey diddle, diddle right down the middle. And here's why.
To prove that I've been paying attention. By this, with
a veteran quarterback like Jacoby Brissett and your veteran center
in David Andrews, you got to exploit the middle of

(09:25):
that offense. And when the what perfect hold on but
I'm hearing that Jacoby Brissett not playing today. Okay, but
what David Andrews there is you're saying, excuse me, I'm
being told David Andrews not currently out.

Speaker 4 (09:41):
Okay, it's true.

Speaker 5 (09:42):
All right, Let's go with Matt Smith's start me up
because it's actually a pretty good key, and the Patriots
have shown as they get down fourteen points last week
in the blink of an eye, unable to overcome that
kind of deficit. How about you start strong, you score first,
and you see what it's like playing with the lead.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
Yeah, I think that's it's as good a key as any. Yeah,
it truly is.

Speaker 5 (10:03):
I mean, if we're going to break the game down
to its barest essence, I think this team is. It's
difficult for a lot of teams to play from behind.
Why would you expect it would be somehow easier for
the Patriots in this let's call it, you know, a
transition period that they're in with this team, to fall
behind by two scores and and somehow be able to
overcome that. It's it's a lot to ask of anything

(10:24):
much less this team.

Speaker 4 (10:26):
Yeah, i'd say, you know, watching some of the stuff
from last night. I don't know if you caught it.
Freddy Kirsch up there at the party getting the fans
pumped up. I know, you know, ownership was there. I
got a little bit of the vibe that we had
last year in Germany, where you know it's anytime Patriots travel,
get the fans out, and you know Fred's given a
talk a speech, and you know, I remember last year
we got kind of a similar thing of this means
a lot to us, and you know these international Games

(10:47):
certainly it's it's you're a little bit on a bigger
stage right now. For the Patriots, I think it's just
one of those kind of touch point moments where you
have a team that you could potentially beat, I think
today and no one, no one would be shocked. I
think if the Patriots pull it out. Although apparently everyone's
adiction as a Jags by one to four points. I
know he saw some of the NFL predictions that on
NFL dot Com everybody picking the Jags by one to
four points. But good opportunity for the Patriots. I'm just

(11:09):
getting that vibe the last year when they were in
Germany and that kind of felt where things totally went
sideways at that point last season. You know, maybe this
year this is a chance to go the other direction,
get a win on the road there and come back
to the States with, you know, a renewed sense of
energy going for in the season.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
Am I to understand that Fred kerschh is being employed as.

Speaker 4 (11:25):
A hype He was, he had a jersey on and everything.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
Every once in a while, Fred takes it upon himself
to sort.

Speaker 10 (11:31):
Of rally the troops so to speak, you know, like
the morale is brave and the morale is down. He
you know, he just sort of does what he can
to Okay.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
Okay, well whatever it takes.

Speaker 5 (11:45):
I personally, as a as a Patriots fan, I think
you should be and h and legitimately genuinely insulted that
the Jaguars were five and a half point favorites, even
if it's just according to you know, the people making
lines and trying to get that equal action on both sides.
I don't see the game playing out that way. I

(12:05):
don't think the Jaguars are a five and a half
point better team than the Patriots. I don't see it
going down that way. I don't think it should. And
if it doesn't end up that way, It's difficult for
me to listen to any kind of analysis where it
would play out that way on paper in the abstract,
how is it that the Jaguars are?

Speaker 2 (12:23):
How is it? How is it? Honestly, Paul?

Speaker 5 (12:25):
Because people don't know from Drake May yet and they
just don't want to.

Speaker 10 (12:28):
I mean, I just think on paper I can understand it.
In reality, I can't because Jacksonville's a mess, yes, and
I think that they look like they were just you know,
they didn't look like a team that was really looking
forward to being in London for another whole week. When
that game ended, I thought they completely rolled over in

(12:50):
the second half against Chicago. We got a chance to
watch a lot of that game as we were doing
the pregame show last week. I thought they played okay
at the start of the game. They had a couple
of bad break that, you know, a couple of drop touchdowns.
All of a sudden they fall behind. In the second half,
they had nothing, and it looks like a team that's
ready to to quit on their coach and the coaches
probably coaching for his job today. On paper, individual, you know,

(13:15):
player for player, I can understand the differences, and that's
where I think the spread comes from, like when you
look at that ESPN stuff, which I don't you know,
I don't buy into all the analytics everything, but that
what is it?

Speaker 2 (13:25):
FBI index, f PI football? Is it? Football Power Index?
Is that what they call it?

Speaker 10 (13:32):
Like that's all about numbers and stuff. Well great, I
mean Jacksonville has all these numbers. They're one and five, right,
you know, but I would you know, just looking as
I said, you know, Trevor Lawrence is in his fourth
year to your point, Hardy, yes, your quarterbacks making the
second career start. They have three solid NFL receivers and

(13:54):
Kirk Thomas in Davis. You're looking for one, you know,
maybe Douglas y. Yeah, so I can understand the man
from man thing. I don't understand what's actually happening on
the field.

Speaker 5 (14:07):
I want to talk about the receivers a little bit
more later on in this Patriots pregame show, but we have.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
To award the key.

Speaker 5 (14:14):
First of all, I was taking comprehensive notes and scores.
Mike Duse's commenced with haste got a score of three
point eight. Oh Mike, sorry, Matt Smith with his start
me up. I actually this out of twenty two. Matt
Smith's start Me Up nine point five, Paul Pirillo's fixed

(14:38):
the Run Fits eleven point one.

Speaker 4 (14:41):
Oh, the Romanian judge got a good score from the
Romanian judge on that one.

Speaker 5 (14:44):
Tamara Brown, do your chores? Clean up those penalties fourteen
point six. Tamara Brown is awarded the Key to the
Game for this week. Would you please pass that over
to tomorrow.

Speaker 7 (14:52):
I knew Hardy was my favorite.

Speaker 2 (14:53):
It's the first time this year I have it won
the key week seven.

Speaker 7 (14:56):
This is so exciting.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
I just gave it to myself. Please put that on.
Please put that on.

Speaker 5 (15:02):
Joining us now as we go behind enemy lines. Let's
do it there, mister morrel.

Speaker 3 (15:08):
You know the view from New England, but what about
the view from the other side?

Speaker 2 (15:12):
And that's why you're a favorite pregame show guest. Yeah
every year.

Speaker 11 (15:15):
And you know you tell everybody that I was on
with you guys in twenty eighteen Thursday Night Football, Yeah,
and I was.

Speaker 12 (15:22):
I was the favorite game for the show.

Speaker 6 (15:23):
No time now to go behind enemy lines.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
My god, it's got a right for from across the pond.

Speaker 5 (15:31):
Joining us now, Matt Smith, joining us from London as
we go behind the enemy lines.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
Hi, Matt, I Rob?

Speaker 4 (15:40):
How are you?

Speaker 12 (15:40):
Rob?

Speaker 2 (15:40):
Rob? I'm doing I'm doing well. Thank you. This is
very comfortable chair.

Speaker 12 (15:47):
What a very professional sounding show I'm listening to. It's
so much better than those first few weeks of the season.
I can't begin to tell you.

Speaker 2 (15:54):
How dare you? How dare you? Say?

Speaker 10 (15:56):
Self seprecating, He's not going to lose that interim tag
if he keeps being so soft brick onion there.

Speaker 5 (16:01):
So have you jumped ship? Have you gone over to
the enemy? We're behind enemy lines. Explain to me what's
going on.

Speaker 12 (16:06):
I think it's a sponsorship fulfillment, hardy nothing, but there's
no questioning my loyalty on that. No crossing over the line.

Speaker 2 (16:15):
All right? So when did you get over there? How's
it going over there?

Speaker 12 (16:19):
It's great? I was here on flew over Tuesday night.
So was here hit the ground running on Wednesday to
do some things for Patriots all access. Yesterday was a
very busy day for the sponsors and Patriot fans UK
over here. There was a sponsorship party at the Tower,
London where people were whined and dying in a very

(16:40):
elegant event, and then about ten or fifty minutes down
the road. The UK Patriot fans were really really showing up,
seven or eight hundred strong. My main man Warren I saw,
he was running the show, terrific. Guy Claire was there,
My main man James was there. It was a good

(17:01):
time had by all Patriots doing a Robert Craft you
want to think Craft showed up. R KK came back
after leaving and did a shot with Patriots in So
I think people are really excited about this. It was
very interesting, a very interesting perspective for me to see
the interest and to see the passion. You know, in

(17:21):
the States we get jaded by Paul shows and all
the different things that are wrong with the team. These
people really loved the Patriots and it was refreshing to see.

Speaker 8 (17:32):
So, Matt, you gave us the mood of Patriots Nation
out in the UK. I'm curious what is the mood
of the team since your boots on the ground.

Speaker 12 (17:40):
For us energized Tamara. I thought this location where they
practiced on Friday historic prep school that Winston Churchill and
others went to. It was a fantastic setup and I
think the team seems energized.

Speaker 1 (17:56):
There was a.

Speaker 12 (17:58):
Down to business as far as practice is concerned. They
look like they got their work in. But I think
people are enjoying being over here and trying to grow
the game and at the same time realize that there's
a responsibility at hand that they need to take care
of business, play better, fewer mistakes and get a win

(18:19):
here in London.

Speaker 4 (18:20):
Now we're seeing a little video right now. It just
looks like a little wet out there. Could you give
us a bit of a weather report from London?

Speaker 12 (18:27):
Love it deuce, love it deuce my pleasure a little
austin on, miss, I know that's surprise here in London
at any time of the year. Cloudy, a little muggy,
believe it or not, not cool, not raw, a little windy,
but not a downpour or anything like that. So that's

(18:47):
that's that's my that's your weather.

Speaker 10 (18:49):
On the threes for me, mad if you had a
chance to be down on the field the playing surface,
I went.

Speaker 12 (18:55):
I went to the went to the walk through yesterday.
That was quite brief and it's natural grass and to me,
you know what, align I'm not a horticulturist, it's really Christine,
really nice. I did notice pregame war ups a little
bit some players having trouble with their footing.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
Yeah, that's why I ask.

Speaker 12 (19:14):
So a former former coach that used to play for
the Patriots is always good one make sure you bring
the right cleat, and I think the quarterbacks slipped a
little bit when he was doing warm ups. So I
hope that the equipment guys and the players have the
right foot wear in the right cleat before they go
out and play today.

Speaker 5 (19:32):
All right, So you mentioned the mood of the Patriots fans,
which are legion all over London and all over the UK.
Are there Jacksonville fans there? Do you see them? Do
you do you notice their presence? Because for the amount
they play over there, you'd think they would have had
some kind of following built up by now. I'm just
curious as to whether or not that's actually a thing.

Speaker 12 (19:53):
I do think that there is a hardy the area
where we're staying and where the stadium is in Wembley.
The league's done a great job of branding it. There's
Jacksonville signed. It's literally all over the place. Players signage
on light poles and things like that. At a hotel
that we're at, which makes sense. There were a lot
of Patriots fans out there looking for pictures, autographs and

(20:14):
things like that, you know, once the team arrived. But
I spawed breakfast a couple of tables today at a hotel.
People were wearing like Jacksonville onesie men and women combined.
Interesting nice touch.

Speaker 4 (20:28):
If you like that.

Speaker 12 (20:32):
So they're here, they're here, But I don't sense that
they're overwhelming the town, like maybe you think for somebody
that's really kind of called this place there market for
the last few years.

Speaker 4 (20:44):
Man. I just got to ask it. Last night we
saw Fred address the troops. Where would you rank that
between Lincoln's Gettysburg address and Sir William Wallace in Brave Art?

Speaker 12 (20:55):
So I want to I need to adapt parties judging scores.
I think going forward for keys to the game. So
if this is on a scale of twenty two, yes,
Bread's address twenty six, wow.

Speaker 2 (21:10):
Wow, honor no one.

Speaker 10 (21:14):
No one can rally the troops like Fred Currish. I
get That's why you know he was These new locker
room rules are hurting him because sometimes he just needs.

Speaker 2 (21:23):
To go in a noose morale.

Speaker 4 (21:24):
Was this he was pent up? He was ready?

Speaker 5 (21:26):
Was this address at the Tower of London last night?

Speaker 2 (21:28):
Matt no, but.

Speaker 12 (21:30):
Here's what I want to tell you. This is where
Fred brought his a game. Okay, myself and a couple
of people. It's challenging where we are to get around
into the downtown air of London. We're really outside of town,
so trying to plan ahead and take an uber to
the Tower of London function. We left at four thirty
for an event that was going to start at six thirty,

(21:51):
and then we barely made it. We're waiting for the
uber and Fred's down waiting for an uber as well.
I said, you don't get started till seven o'clock and
he was locked in at four twenty game Space on
jersey on Patriot sweatshirt on top of that, I'm talking
about game Space. He was ready to go.

Speaker 2 (22:13):
Whose whose jersey was he wearing?

Speaker 4 (22:16):
Number one?

Speaker 12 (22:17):
It has the number one on it. I didn't see
the I did not see the back. It was probably
some code name that he had on the back.

Speaker 2 (22:26):
Boss with Jake Steele.

Speaker 5 (22:27):
As long as you're not wearing the jersey of a
player who is younger than you, you can go old school.

Speaker 2 (22:33):
But I think that that is my rule of thought.
Like that, like that right, rule.

Speaker 7 (22:38):
Matt, I have? I have one more. I have a
question for you.

Speaker 8 (22:40):
I don't know if it's one more, so I don't
want to lie to you. It could be more. How
does Rmandre Stevenson look? How's his foot looking? Is he
looking like.

Speaker 7 (22:48):
Is he's walking gingerly? Or does he look ready to go?

Speaker 12 (22:52):
Ready to go? Samarra, I didn't sense anything a practice
on Friday that would say anything under than that he
looked terrific and I would expect him today that they're
going to lean.

Speaker 5 (23:04):
On him all right, as long as we're asking questions
about injuries that may or may not be there. Drake
may some talk about his knee during the week, anything
coming out of that, you know, all reports I've heard
was that looks fine. There's really nothing to see here.

Speaker 12 (23:21):
That looked like there was a Paul deuce. You might
be a little bit better observe on this Tamara. Was
there a twisting match going on maybe midweek between some
of the scribes as to whether there.

Speaker 2 (23:34):
Was an MRI No MRI, I don't think so.

Speaker 10 (23:38):
I think Ben Bolan tweeted out that there was an
MRI and nobody denied that.

Speaker 12 (23:43):
Yeah, yeah, she looked fine on Friday. I'll know I'm
not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV.

Speaker 2 (23:51):
Yeah, no, I think he's I think he's fine.

Speaker 10 (23:53):
But I think the MRI happened because I think the
Patriots had a lot of opportunities to say it didn't
and they chose not to.

Speaker 2 (24:00):
Yep, I mean so for once one might have gotten
one about that.

Speaker 12 (24:04):
Okay, Yeah, blind squirrel finds an every once in a while. Yeah, uh,
no brace or anything like that and warm up. He
looks fine to me.

Speaker 1 (24:12):
You know.

Speaker 12 (24:13):
Now, the little slippage that you talked about earlier, Paul,
that I noticed, we'll see. Maybe he's got to tighten
it up for footwork a footwear standpoint.

Speaker 2 (24:21):
Yeah, absolutely, Now we're gonna go wait.

Speaker 12 (24:23):
Just as a as an a size here. I know
there's so much to be made about the jerseys, the colors,
the fashion. We need more of that. We need different
uniform combinations. I'm tired of the same old shirt pants
every single week. So this week we're going with silver pants.
It looks like in a white jersey, just an abomination.

Speaker 2 (24:43):
By the way, so much for not changing allegiances.

Speaker 10 (24:51):
That's funny. Yeah, I saw some pictures. I thought they
were all white, but then then it's so hard. I
agree with Matt, that doesn't go.

Speaker 4 (25:00):
I gotta wait and see, I gotta wait in reserve judgments,
I see him see.

Speaker 12 (25:03):
It looks a little silvery. It doesn't look white like
I think if it was all white, maybe it will
pull it off. Although I'm not a scene when I
see other teams do that. But it looks like a
white shirt with a silver pants.

Speaker 5 (25:13):
Okay today, man, I'm just gonna defer to Tamara on
this because in terms of fashion sense, she's the only
one here that has one.

Speaker 2 (25:21):
But there are some dudes. Please.

Speaker 5 (25:25):
It looks like he got addressed with a blowgun this morning.

Speaker 2 (25:28):
It's just not a good look.

Speaker 5 (25:30):
But the idea of doing something close to monochromatic but
just a little bit off. And I'll give you another example, Matt,
you can actually wear black with navy. I didn't know this,
but you can actually do that. So the silver and white,
while it may not look right to your eye, to
a modern fashionista, it might be a good look. So
we'll find out. Because once we look at partie, you're.

Speaker 12 (25:52):
Right on the money. I can't tell you how many
men have seen.

Speaker 2 (25:55):
And there we go.

Speaker 12 (25:56):
The black blazer, blue shirt, blazer, black shirt. I'm going
it doesn't look right. And then I say to myself,
everybody else is wearing it. I must be on the wrong.

Speaker 2 (26:07):
Side of it. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (26:08):
Well, we just caught a glimpse of the silver pants
and the white jerseys. I'm siding with you.

Speaker 2 (26:12):
Terrible, that's awful.

Speaker 12 (26:14):
Okay, Okay, you want to go around the table and
see if you can get any other thumbs up or
downs on that.

Speaker 2 (26:18):
Yes, we all saw a glimpse of it. White jersey,
silver pants.

Speaker 4 (26:21):
I might go thumbs up.

Speaker 7 (26:22):
Guys, I'm gonna go thumbs up. It looks good.

Speaker 8 (26:26):
However, if they play bad in it, we might need
we might not need to see this again.

Speaker 2 (26:30):
Pants look dirty. That's what people think about the all blue.

Speaker 12 (26:35):
Yeah, well, Paul, you and I are old enough to
remember the experiment and were the.

Speaker 2 (26:39):
First all blue. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (26:44):
Okay, So Matt, we're going to get to your over unders,
which I'm going to change a few. We're gonna get
to your.

Speaker 2 (26:52):
Picks.

Speaker 5 (26:53):
I guess I think you've already submitted your picks, but
the behind the enemy line's guest has to give us
a score per before they hang up. This is what
we used to do, and I don't know if you're
still doing to be Paul Kuhoski. Yeah, don't disappoint us.
Now we need an actual score prediction for today's game.

Speaker 12 (27:12):
I'll go seventeen fourteen.

Speaker 5 (27:14):
Pats love it all right, good stuff, Matt Smith. Enjoy
your time in London. I'm jealous. I've only been there
once and spent time there, but it's one of my
favorite trips to anywhere I've ever taken. So I hope
you're getting a chance to enjoy London.

Speaker 1 (27:29):
Party.

Speaker 12 (27:29):
Thanks a lot, and seriously, here for a second, to
say that there were big shoes to fill with your
departure would be one of the biggest understatements going on.
I can only hope that I honor your greatness by
being great if I can get to adequate. If I
can get to adequate, I'm going to be very very happy.

Speaker 9 (27:48):
Well.

Speaker 5 (27:48):
I feel the same way sitting here. Just this week
I was told coming in, you know Matt Smith is
killing it. Yeah, I got big shoes to fill, so
I'm trying to bring my a game here. Don't throw
me off by getting me emotional.

Speaker 2 (27:58):
Big shoes, No socks, you too want to turn the
suction down socks. I caught that dude.

Speaker 4 (28:05):
Very good.

Speaker 5 (28:06):
All right, Matt enjoy the game. Thanks so much for
the time. Thanks Mat, safe travels. There he goes, you too.

Speaker 4 (28:13):
I'm gonna make guys. I like them, I like, I don't.
I don't like the the white on the blue. I
don't like their usual away ones. I think they're those
ones are pretty rough. But these, uh, these kind of
do it for me. I like this seems like the
stripes actually match, which I like. And uh, the stripes match.
The stripes on the top match that, you know, the.

Speaker 2 (28:30):
Stripes do match.

Speaker 10 (28:31):
Yeah, I will give Mike that the pants look dirty,
which is.

Speaker 2 (28:35):
Look like they have nice clean tops as Jim McBride.

Speaker 4 (28:38):
Well, that's what everyone used to say about the silver dirty. Yeah,
dirty jerseys used to where they look dirty.

Speaker 5 (28:43):
It's the blouses look laundered. The pantaloons appear soiled.

Speaker 2 (28:49):
Okay, that's that's.

Speaker 4 (28:51):
Get like what my key? You know?

Speaker 2 (28:53):
All right?

Speaker 1 (28:54):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (28:55):
What are we getting here?

Speaker 4 (28:56):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (28:57):
There we go?

Speaker 5 (28:58):
Nice big view of the way. It does look kind
of like dreary there. You know what it looks land
It sure does. It looks kind of dreary and almost
muggy as mass.

Speaker 2 (29:08):
But it's in the background.

Speaker 4 (29:09):
Man, Yeah, sure, that's got the cut off hoodie on.
Does Fred approve of that one? Because Fred doesn't Fred
the whole rant this week about about hoodie t shirts.
But I can't tell that might be a real hoodie.

Speaker 5 (29:18):
Can I ask you, guys, completely off the subject.

Speaker 2 (29:20):
Anything else?

Speaker 5 (29:20):
I've noticed it more watching games this year. The tear
away undershirts.

Speaker 2 (29:24):
Oh yeah, I have noticed it more. I agree with
you on that and specifically designed a tarraway I obviously
they have to be. And the little strips that hang
off the back.

Speaker 5 (29:35):
That is obviously it meant it is like like a
flag football kind of like a target. Are almost bait
for you to grab onto that, and the thing's just
going to tear away? At what point are these going
to be? The guys, would you stop it with these things?
It's almost comical see stretch out for fifty feet behind.

Speaker 10 (29:54):
See I love the old days where you watch like uh,
you know, late seventies Earl Campbell with the tear away.

Speaker 2 (30:00):
Oh the Terrorway drink. The actual raway would be terrible.

Speaker 5 (30:04):
How long did that last before they said you know
what this is? This is this is not working.

Speaker 2 (30:10):
We thought it would be neat but it's actually kind
of silly. We can't do this anymore. Well, how many seasons.

Speaker 10 (30:15):
Did the Tarrorway tress I don't know, but it would
happen once in a while with those those running backs
in the seventies, remember any of those.

Speaker 4 (30:22):
Bit a little bit, I was thinking, pretend.

Speaker 2 (30:24):
He pretends he's so much younger than me. He's really
not that much younger than not that much. He's quite
a bit younger than you.

Speaker 4 (30:30):
You're right, four years?

Speaker 2 (30:31):
Are we doing our break now?

Speaker 5 (30:33):
Is that what we're gonna do?

Speaker 2 (30:34):
Okay, no break?

Speaker 5 (30:36):
I see I see that Patty and Agama is on
the line. I see that Tim and Phoenix is on
the line. So we're gonna get to you, guys. We
appreciate you being here. Pregame Show, by the way, is
presented by Duncan and the Patriots. Pregame Show is fueled
by Duncan, which is very important and we want to

(30:58):
make sure we mentioned them along with Massachusetts. It's just
made for everyone.

Speaker 2 (31:03):
I mean for.

Join the conversation by calling into the TPX hotline at
eight five to five pats five hundred, or emailed the
show at podcast at Patriots dot com. Now live from
our studios, here is Matt Smith.

Speaker 5 (34:35):
It's actually a hardy filling in for Matt Smith today,
but Matt Smith was kind enough to join us behind
enemy lines switching allegiances very I mean, you talk about
an upsets, have no idea. He's been a Matt Smith
has been a Patriots fan for four or five years
at least, so for him to switch over to the
Jacksonville side troubling.

Speaker 2 (34:55):
But what are they paying you, Matt? What are they
paying you?

Speaker 5 (34:59):
Just giving us the blow down Matt did a great
job of painting the picture what it's been like all
week there in London. The Tower of London, which we
actually went to, that was one of the you know,
the touristy things we did, was really impressive.

Speaker 2 (35:13):
What a cool spot to have.

Speaker 5 (35:14):
Like, you know, a big gathering for the team and
the fans and all that stuff.

Speaker 2 (35:18):
Prison well, I mean it's a lot.

Speaker 5 (35:20):
The Crown jewels are there and there's all this. I
can't remember all of it, but there is a prison there.
And when you take the tour of the prison, a
lot of the prisoners etched their names on the walls
when they were there centuries ago. And guess who I
found on the wall, not once, but twice the name
Pool P W L E. So I have ancestors there
who were imprisoned at the Tower of London and it

(35:43):
is my goal not to join them.

Speaker 4 (35:45):
Hardy, did you when you were there, did you do
the big bed in Parliament bit from European vacation at all?
Driving around the mound and.

Speaker 5 (35:52):
Bount No, because we didn't know you did. We didn't
drive anywhere. The only car ride we took the entire
time we were there was from the airport to the hotel,
which was a mistake the rest of the time we
were in London, and I can't believe they haven't figured
this out. You got to take the tube, man, you
gotta get on you gotta get on that way, mind

(36:13):
the guest. It's the only way to get around town.
These people getting in cars and I drive on the
wrong side. But we like a couple of weeks ago,
we were before the Celtics started training camp. We were
talking with a couple of guys who when they were
in London, they made the mistake of trying to get
to a game where they were taking an uber and

(36:34):
showed up fifteen minutes before tip off, and I think
it was I think, as Jaye le Brown has said, yeah,
we just ended up taking the tube the rest of
the week because it's the only way to get around town.
You take the take the train, take the tube.

Speaker 2 (36:45):
That's because otherwise the traffic there is horrific.

Speaker 5 (36:48):
We have the inactives.

Speaker 10 (36:49):
What have we got there, Paul, let's see patriots and
active SIONI taki taki. I wonder if that's a result
of going offside and the opening kickoff last week Jerian Lowe,
which we already knew. Jeremiah Farms, Jayvon Baker, Taekwon Thoorton.
Both of those wide receivers were inactive last week as well,
and Joe Milton remains the third quarterback. So no real
surprises there. Yeah, I would hope that any quote unquote changes.

(37:13):
I don't know if you guys talked about this in
the opening segment, you know, Mayo sort of forecast it.

Speaker 2 (37:17):
There'll be some changes.

Speaker 10 (37:18):
I would hope it's not just hockey Taki, who looked
a little rusty to me, you know, coming off of
what the better part of, you know, two or three
months of inactivity, really right, because.

Speaker 2 (37:29):
That was an unfortunate start till last week's game.

Speaker 10 (37:32):
Yeah, but I can't imagine that that was that was
all about that. No, him being an active this week
was all about that one play on the kickoff.

Speaker 2 (37:40):
But it could not have helped. No, it didn't help. Absolutely.

Speaker 4 (37:42):
It's a little bit. We talked about potential changes this week,
and one of those was does he maybe get some
time at linebacker. We talked about Christian Ellis maybe being
a guy that could see more snaps at the second
level if they wanted to shake some things up. But uh,
you know for the first I think it's the first
time Jeremy Farms has been inactive after a pretty good
training camp. So they'll go with Eric Johnson and Jacquelin Roy. Yeah.

Speaker 10 (38:03):
So I mean that's, you know, a minor change because
I you know, I know, I didn't win, but I
placed in the Keys to the Game about the run fits.

Speaker 4 (38:12):
And five, there's nothing to be you know, I'm very happy.

Speaker 10 (38:15):
I'm very happy with my performance today. I'm not any
better than that. So like, I'm very happy with that.
But but the run problems, you just wonder, you know, Okay,
so do we try a different guy up there? Jeremiah Farms,
as Mike said, has been active every week, so he's
been part of this. So maybe do you sit him today?
Put someone else out there, Eric Johnson, see if maybe he,

(38:37):
you know, in a spot role, can be a little
bit better.

Speaker 2 (38:39):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (38:40):
Oshane mathis too activated up from the practice. We just
saw the edge guy peak of him.

Speaker 2 (38:44):
He's wearing number thirty two for those.

Speaker 4 (38:45):
Of you that could be one too. That could be
one too, whether it's pass rush or early downs or
just getting another edge guy some opportunities he could you
seeing Josh ucha there, who you know, continues just to
play what we've always seen him play, kind of a
third down pass rushing role. So we'll see if Mathis
gets in there with any kind of expanded.

Speaker 10 (39:01):
I think on the Twitter machine about the possibility of
Ouche being available at.

Speaker 4 (39:04):
All, Yeah, juice, Yeah, I've seen some of that, a
little rumblings.

Speaker 10 (39:12):
It would make sense if the Patriots were looking to
maybe see if they could acquire some Day three picks
or yeah, you know, he could be one of the
candidates for that.

Speaker 5 (39:19):
Unfortunately, Yeah, that's probably the position that they're in right now.
But when it comes to the defense, Deuce has been
joining us periodically on the on the morning show on
the flagship on the Sports.

Speaker 2 (39:28):
Hub, never miss it, never miss it really good. And
Deuce being the defensive guy that he is.

Speaker 5 (39:34):
You know, your key is an important one, Paul, about
you know, figuring out a way to stop the run.
But I've had questions for Deuce, and I'll ask you
too about just some of the fundamentals when it comes
to the defense, the the you know, inability to make
sound tackles and for for you know, runners getting loose
and and pass catchers in the yards after the catch

(39:55):
just seems like fundamentally, there's there's been some shortcomings with
the team so far season, which is surprising to me
based on who their head coaches and what he would be,
you know, most adamant about and things being cleaned up
and done correctly now that he's in charge of the team.

Speaker 10 (40:14):
Yeah, I mean, I do you want to say, I
just defense, I we just stay out of the way.

Speaker 2 (40:19):
We just let him for fundamentals, dude, we let him
open a vein.

Speaker 4 (40:24):
It is well. I mean, look at the fundamental he's
really upset of defenses, you know, getting off blocks or
beating blocks, anticipating and getting over guys, and I think
at the second level they just really struggled with that,
and that's why we talked about maybe switching things up
a little bit. At the second level. You can't state
how much they miss Juwan Bentley. I mean, he just
communicator aggressive. You know, he can get through blocks, he

(40:47):
can get over the top and anticipate and make plays,
and they just that there have been too many of
those plays where you saw last week a couple of
times where it's like teach tape. It's like you look
at the other team and it's like in a block here,
and then we get a block here, and we get
a block here, and the guy runs right through lane
and it's like there it is. You can see it,
like drawn up in the playbook, how exactly how they
wanted to exit against Sorry wow wow, And honestly, like today,

(41:08):
I'm kind of I keep the keep the whatever it is.
I would open up a being with away from me
because Trevor Lawrence scares me with this offense. They've got
some good weapons. Travis ATM is not gonna go So that's,
you know, a little bit of a help. But go
back a couple of weeks ago Tank Bigsby against the
Colts big run. I mean, if they can't get these
big runs squared away, they're they're in real trouble. So
I hope that at least the run defense shows up

(41:30):
and allows them to get into favorable third down yardage
where they can you know, spin the dial a little bit. Hey,
there's Marcell's dial. Spin the dial a little bit on
defense and try to get after Trevor Lawrence. But he's
I think he's got all the capability today to hang
some yards and some points on this defense. They them
to me is the key, and also just the Patriots
offense needing to score points today. I think if they're
gonna win this game, I don't think they're gonna be

(41:51):
able to do it with under twenty.

Speaker 10 (41:52):
And that is you know, when Mike's talking about all
this stuff, you know, to be fair, and I've been
skeptical of the defense in general. I've been bit worried
about the loss of the Belichicks, and we've talked about
this a lot on our show. Is Hardy, but to
be fair to them, you lose bar More in the
first level, you lose Bentley in the second level, and
you lose Peppers like in the third level. That's right

(42:14):
up the middle of your defense.

Speaker 2 (42:16):
That's a lot.

Speaker 10 (42:17):
That's a lot of personnel missing from what you thought
you were going to have. That doesn't explain all of this,
but I do think it is part of the equation.
And they have to play better, no doubt. You're talking
about fundamentals. Hardy with the tackling that needs to be improved,
and I think it's it's really stood out because that
first game that we saw against Cincinnati, they tackled so well.

(42:39):
Yes that day they swum to the ball, they didn't
miss any tackles that day, and I think that's why.
I think, you know, some of the stuff that you've
seen since has been so jarring.

Speaker 5 (42:49):
Somebody had hypothesized that the teams spent training camp getting
ready for that first game and really go out there
and makeing a statement, while other teams around league spend
their training camp getting ready for this season. Yeah, and
it's probably an oversimplified way of looking at it, but
probably it does make a little bit of sense. Now

(43:11):
once you go back and look at this collection of
the first games of the season, see how good they
looked in that first game, and it's like, well, what
were you doing to prepare for the rest of the season.

Speaker 2 (43:19):
It's tough to.

Speaker 5 (43:20):
Do with a new head coach and new players and
you're trying to get things ready. I wouldn't blame them
for spending all of camp getting ready for that Bengals game,
but since then there have been issues.

Speaker 2 (43:30):
Let's let's grab these calls. Let's talk to Patty and Aguam.

Speaker 5 (43:33):
It's been too long, buddy.

Speaker 15 (43:35):
How are you doing great?

Speaker 4 (43:37):
Good morning everyone, Good morning.

Speaker 17 (43:39):
So I'll make it quick because I know you don't
have much time. But everyone's talking about you know, getting
off to a fast start offensively. What do you think
about getting out How important do you think it is
to get off to a fast start defensively? You know,
maybe situationally, get these guys off the field on third down,
maybe throwing some try and get some three and out.
Let's see some some things that we haven't seen some

(43:59):
week one and I'll take it off here, guys.

Speaker 4 (44:01):
All right, Patty, I mean, I get what you're saying.
And you know, of course i'd say if I had
to pick, though, I'd want the defense to finish well.
I mean, I think Jacksonville's gonna come out, maybe get
a little bit of yardage, And I think those kind
of things tend to happen sometimes in games. You just
you need you better at the end. You need to
give the team a chance to win at the end.
And that's what didn't happen last week. They didn't play
well in the second half and you know, all of
a sudden, you know, granted the offense didn't help them

(44:22):
turn the ball over right away, but I think that's
where I want to see this defense rise up. Don't
don't tell me they're tired. You know, you talked about
I thought they tackled well in the summer. I thought
that was going to prepare them for the season, not
just tackle for well for a couple of weeks and
then all of a sudden they forget how to tackle.
So for me today, I think, get me the last
few stops. I think that that might be the key.

Speaker 10 (44:40):
Yeah for me, I mean that was part of my key.
Is what Hardy's talking about, I mean what Patty was
talking about. Because yeah, you come out and you let
the other team go right down the field. So before
your rookie quarterback ever takes the field for his first start,
he's down seven to nothing. Then they go three and out,
so the offense gets off to a slow start as
well as the defense, and then it's nothing and then

(45:01):
they go I think they got one first down and
then punted after the three plays. So like that, you
can't sustain that, Like you can't just hand another team
fourteen points. So that whole start, the whole fast start
thing is across the board. They're not coming out strong offensively,
they're not coming out strong defensively. And I don't think

(45:22):
this team is built to come from behind like that.
I mean, most teams aren't yeah, that's no secret to
the Patriots.

Speaker 2 (45:29):
A couple quick, just a couple.

Speaker 4 (45:30):
Quick personnel notes from warm ups. The offensive line group
from left to right, Jacobs, Jordan Brown, Robinson on when
you and Mike Reese notes that Christianellis is aligning next
to Jilani to buy in the base defense kind of
relateing to what I was saying.

Speaker 2 (45:45):
That's what we talked about. The linebacker change, like.

Speaker 4 (45:47):
Ray Quad McMillan, maybe out, Maybe Christian Ellis gets a
chance today.

Speaker 2 (45:51):
So can you say that line again for me? Play
the offensive line?

Speaker 4 (45:54):
Jacobs left to right, Jacobs, Jordan Brown, Robinson on win
you okay, huh.

Speaker 2 (46:02):
All right?

Speaker 10 (46:02):
Good luck that that that, ladies and gentlemen, is your
seventh starting lineup combination.

Speaker 5 (46:08):
Believe it or not? Yes, and we are what week
are we here in the NFL?

Speaker 2 (46:11):
That would be seventhn wow?

Speaker 4 (46:13):
All right?

Speaker 2 (46:14):
Uh? Tim in Phoenix, you're up here on Patriots pre
game show. What you got for us? Tim Lauren Phillis,
how are we doing early in Phoenix?

Speaker 1 (46:23):
Hey, it's for you guys. Yeah, I'm up at five
o'clock in the morning. I just haven't been this excited
since mag Well about Mac Jones. Let's just be honest.
He had a high floor and no ceiling. He knew
he had a basement. Uh, honestly, it is the drink
may of it all. But I actually had a question
to got for you guys about to buy. Why do
you think they decided not to take this buy after

(46:45):
this game? Were they trying to get a later by
or was the week of this game set in stone?

Speaker 4 (46:52):
No, that's that's an interesting question. You can request the
bye week and then apparently the Patriots did not requested
the bye week afterwards. I mean, I guess they just
looked at it as it's kind of a cross country
flight from you know, if you were going to California,
similar kind of thing. So I guess they just didn't
really prioritize it. I think it's hard if you say no,
it doesn't You don't really have a choice of when
it's gonna come or not. So I don't know, it's
a good it's a good question. Probably just didn't seem

(47:13):
like something they needed to to request at this point.

Speaker 5 (47:16):
I mean, the the flight back is obviously longer, so
I could I could make a case for it. And
not only that, but you've been away for more days
than you're accustomed to on a normal road trip, and
it it seems like it maybe would have made sense.
But maybe they're also looking at this game as like,
you know what, this is gonna be one of our wins.
We don't necessarily want to take the buy after we

(47:36):
get a win. We're gonna have some momentum after this.
So if they're looking at it that way, I would
understand not wanting to go on the bye week after
you've got a little something going here.

Speaker 2 (47:46):
It's a great question, though I don't know why.

Speaker 5 (47:48):
I mean, it's gonna say it was a great point
that I just made, but go ahead with the question.

Speaker 2 (47:52):
I felt focusing on the question.

Speaker 5 (47:53):
More so than my answer. Can I Can I do
somethings never change? Can I do it like I normally
would do it?

Speaker 10 (48:00):
I was letting it go, but I think that they
have a much better chance to win the game today
than they did heading into the season, right. I think
Jacksonville was supposed to be quote unquote a good team.

Speaker 5 (48:10):
So you're saying I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

Speaker 2 (48:12):
Okay, what did he say?

Speaker 5 (48:14):
I don't like him?

Speaker 2 (48:16):
Whatever?

Speaker 5 (48:17):
M depends drop not even picking up the pen again,
I'm not picking up the pen for the whole rest
of this.

Speaker 2 (48:24):
Pregame show, which is only twelve more minutes.

Speaker 13 (48:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (48:27):
Wait, we got to get to the overs. We got
to do the over unders.

Speaker 6 (48:32):
It's time for this week's edition of over Unders.

Speaker 1 (48:37):
Over me?

Speaker 2 (48:38):
When were you under me? We don't do. We don't
have that one anymore. I like this one though.

Speaker 4 (48:42):
I like that.

Speaker 5 (48:45):
You have an act there getting it done on the
ones and twos.

Speaker 6 (48:47):
Oh, I use ai?

Speaker 2 (48:48):
No, do you really? Oh? You sell out?

Speaker 4 (48:51):
I love it. Oh You're I'll make a song about
you in three seconds.

Speaker 6 (48:54):
I will don't test me, all right, I'll go on
in the can.

Speaker 2 (48:59):
What's what's the uh? What's that? What's thee out of
a kin?

Speaker 5 (49:02):
All right, there's six weeks of the over Unders.

Speaker 2 (49:05):
Well where do things stand?

Speaker 10 (49:06):
Let's see Mike and Paul went three and three last week.
No Socks one and five, which means that I took
the lead twenty two and fourteen for the season. No
Socks twenty one and fifteen, Mike eighteen and eight.

Speaker 2 (49:18):
Also No socks was having his way with you up
up until last week. Correct, Wow, all right, good for him.

Speaker 5 (49:25):
Maybe I won't mess with his over unders did he
He did make his picks ahead of time.

Speaker 2 (49:29):
Okay, all right, I'll have to get those. Well, i'll
effort that.

Speaker 3 (49:34):
Let us begin Drake May passing yards two hundred and
a half.

Speaker 2 (49:39):
With Paul, I will take the over on that.

Speaker 10 (49:43):
I like some of the downfield opportunities that they had
last week.

Speaker 2 (49:46):
I think they'll hit a couple of those again.

Speaker 6 (49:48):
Yeah, all right, all right, I'm going to I've never
here for.

Speaker 4 (49:52):
This over y, all right, we'll go over.

Speaker 2 (49:55):
I gotta remember the order that we're going here. All right,
it's just the seat deuce.

Speaker 4 (50:02):
Yeah, we're over me and mean, yeah, I'm using I'm
using her knowledge.

Speaker 3 (50:07):
Matt is going over Trevor Lawrence passing yards to thirty
four and a half.

Speaker 2 (50:12):
Ta, Maria, you go first.

Speaker 7 (50:15):
You said to thirty four.

Speaker 2 (50:17):
I didn't say it over, Matt said, we're thirty four
and a half over over. Yeah, yeah, no, you're not
not you.

Speaker 7 (50:26):
You're being a man and not listening. He said over.

Speaker 2 (50:28):
Oh he said all this said, I haven't said anything.

Speaker 5 (50:32):
Okay, but Paul was jumping turned.

Speaker 2 (50:34):
Because Mike had already gone. I was going when left.
Oh no, you're right, I wasn't listening. Okay, So what
about picking for Matt? Are you? Oh? I thought you're
picking for Matt.

Speaker 7 (50:45):
You don't even go here your school.

Speaker 2 (50:48):
No Socks is going under like that? I like that? Wow,
most No Socks is going over under under. Oh he's such.

Speaker 4 (50:55):
A home bull choice card.

Speaker 5 (50:58):
All right, now, deuce, you will be up nex Fourrea
may completions eighteen and a half eighteen and a half.

Speaker 4 (51:06):
What the hell? Let's go for it over over?

Speaker 2 (51:09):
Well, No Socks doesn't think so he's going out there.
I know.

Speaker 5 (51:14):
Well he's behind enemy lines now on every.

Speaker 8 (51:16):
Single he did say so he did over for passing
yards and then under for completions.

Speaker 2 (51:21):
Can go. So what did he have for completions last week?

Speaker 1 (51:25):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (51:25):
I wasn't watch. I'm kidding.

Speaker 4 (51:27):
Fourteen maybe something like that.

Speaker 2 (51:29):
All right, I'm gonna take the over.

Speaker 10 (51:31):
I think Matt thinks it's gonna be a vermondre Stevenson game,
and that's why he went under.

Speaker 2 (51:35):
But I'm gonna take you.

Speaker 5 (51:36):
Give me plenty of yards on eighteen or fewer completions, Okay,
whatever you want to do.

Speaker 4 (51:41):
There we go.

Speaker 6 (51:42):
Trevor Lawrence pass attempts thirty three and a half.

Speaker 5 (51:44):
I will go first this time picking for Matt Smith.
He is selected over on Trevor Lawren's Trevor Lawrence pass attempts.

Speaker 4 (51:52):
I drink me had twenty completions last week. I'm gonna go.
I'm gonna go under own. Yeah, it's under big plays.

Speaker 2 (52:00):
Yeah, I'm gonna take over on that.

Speaker 10 (52:02):
I can't imagine Tank Bixby's gonna get h you know,
twenty plus carries.

Speaker 2 (52:06):
They're gonna have to throw the ball, all right.

Speaker 6 (52:09):
Drake May's longest completion thirty one and a half yards.

Speaker 2 (52:12):
Oh, that's what do I do on this?

Speaker 1 (52:17):
Like?

Speaker 2 (52:17):
What do we do? Harty's a big gambler. He'll tell
you you follow the trends. No, I will tell you
the action is the juice.

Speaker 5 (52:24):
It doesn't matter what you bet, just have action on it.

Speaker 10 (52:28):
You follow the trends, My friend, this is I believe
now five weeks in a row, that this is hit over.

Speaker 2 (52:34):
Over over trends. Believe in them. How many of us
have them? Talking about trends?

Speaker 4 (52:42):
I did that voice of.

Speaker 5 (52:47):
Really really whipped me.

Speaker 2 (52:51):
No, socks is going under. I'm the longest completion.

Speaker 6 (52:53):
And finally the total score forty two.

Speaker 2 (52:56):
Tamara under under under unders across the board, No I'm
taking the over.

Speaker 5 (53:03):
Wow, under all right, everybody but Polly Paul wants the
under on that, okay, ever, ever so slightly, it was fun,
good time.

Speaker 10 (53:13):
So hardy without you here to keep me grounded and centered.
A couple of weeks ago, I picked a final score
that added up to something different than I picked for
the over under.

Speaker 7 (53:24):
It was that the sixteen thirteen week.

Speaker 10 (53:28):
It was the San Francisco game. I think I picked.
I picked the under, and my score combined to be over.

Speaker 2 (53:38):
Wow.

Speaker 5 (53:40):
That's unlike you, because I mean, you hold everybody accountable.
You're an idiot, like inconsistent. You didn't say that you
remember last week and he's always the one that keeps
receiving anymore.

Speaker 2 (53:53):
You don't keep receipts on yourself. Wow, I do.

Speaker 10 (53:56):
That's what I obviously do, Otherwise I wouldn't. I think
it was the Niners game. I just brought it back.
It's like a month ago.

Speaker 5 (54:03):
Paul's grown his hair out to Okay, maybe a thing
that you were in No, uh, not a ton of
time here, sing alone.

Speaker 2 (54:12):
Are we gonna jump right to the six pack here
and get that thing done?

Speaker 4 (54:16):
Say it's all coming so fast right now?

Speaker 2 (54:20):
You better bring a big win again.

Speaker 4 (54:26):
His face.

Speaker 5 (54:27):
We don't work blue on a Sunday morning. Okay, guys,
how dare it's a Sunday service. How are you guys
doing with the Sunday six packs. I'm looking at the
numbers right now. I'm not impressed. I'm not imp very well.
Paul had a good week last.

Speaker 2 (54:41):
Week, though, five and one. Yeah, but that's You're still
followed by Mike and No Socks at three and three.
The two of you suckling hind teeth at sixteen eighteen
and two.

Speaker 10 (54:49):
I used your line last week. I think it was
a little disconcerting to the interim host. But uh uh,
he is leading. No Socks is leading at seventeen seventeen
and two.

Speaker 2 (55:00):
Wow. Mike and I are sixteen eighteen.

Speaker 5 (55:02):
And two after going five hundred last week. No Socks
has made his picks, but we'll get to those a
little bit later on. We will start once again with Paul,
who is our first matchup here, Matti.

Speaker 3 (55:14):
Morale the one four Tennessee Titans at the four and
two Buffalo Bills Buffalo minus nine and a half.

Speaker 10 (55:20):
I'm a little concerned that Mason Rudolph is playing. He
played reasonably well in the playoff game last year for
Pittsburgh against the Bills in Buffalo.

Speaker 2 (55:27):
However, I'm gonna take the Bills.

Speaker 4 (55:30):
Yeah, I'm saying the Bills too.

Speaker 5 (55:31):
Yes, everybody on the Bills, including Maddy.

Speaker 2 (55:35):
No socks.

Speaker 3 (55:36):
The five and one Houston Texans at the four and
two green Bay Packers green Bay minus three.

Speaker 7 (55:41):
Good game, I'm going Texans? Is that weird?

Speaker 4 (55:45):
No, I'm going Texans too. Okay, they looked good last week.

Speaker 2 (55:50):
No socks going green Bay on this one. Yeah, I'm
going green Bay too, all right.

Speaker 3 (55:55):
The two and three Miami Dolphins at the three and
three Indianapolis Colts Indie minus three.

Speaker 5 (56:01):
ILK, I'll you know, like, go ahead, go ahead, Colts, Colts.

Speaker 2 (56:06):
Colts, Colts from Addie. No socks Colts for me as well.
Just can't go with Miami without their quarterback unless they're
playing another team that doesn't have any off. Now, there's
only one right answer on this next one. What is
the game? Matt?

Speaker 6 (56:20):
I threw it in just for you.

Speaker 3 (56:21):
The four one Detroit Lions at the five and oh
Minnesota Vikings Minnesota minus one and a half?

Speaker 5 (56:26):
Kay, what do you mean threw it in just for me?
This is the best game of the weekend. This is
an NFC North match up, a couple to two of
the best teams in the league right now, so that
you're not you're doing anything.

Speaker 6 (56:36):
Try to stay away from the lines. It hurts me
that you're not here.

Speaker 10 (56:38):
It's the best record, right Yeah, combined record of two teams.

Speaker 2 (56:43):
Okay, I don't, I don't.

Speaker 5 (56:44):
I don't blame you. Vikings are a good team, they're
at home.

Speaker 4 (56:47):
Yeah, I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go Detroit. But I
think b flow against Jared Goff again. He had him
a little bit in a blender there back in the
Super Bowl, so we abill see what if he throws
at chair stander.

Speaker 2 (56:56):
Hard and the blender.

Speaker 4 (56:57):
I'm gonna still Uh, I'm gonna still take Detroit.

Speaker 2 (56:59):
Then watched it around to a beautiful oblivion rendezvous. I'm
through with you, Paul. I agree. I will take the Lions,
and I think Golf is going to light him up.

Speaker 4 (57:09):
He's been very good.

Speaker 2 (57:10):
He's been very good this year against pressure.

Speaker 5 (57:13):
Matt Smith also taking unlike him, Detroit in this game.

Speaker 3 (57:17):
Sunday Night Football, the two and four New York Jets
at the four and two Pittsburgh Steelers this game Jets
one and.

Speaker 2 (57:22):
A half two.

Speaker 8 (57:23):
This game makes me angry because I think Fields should
start and not Russell Wilson for sure.

Speaker 10 (57:28):
Yet it's for sure according to Russell Wilson, George Pickens
and Justin Fields.

Speaker 8 (57:34):
Yeah yeah, so I'm a little upset about this, and
allegedly both of them are going to play. I think
that's always a disaster when you have two quarterbacks you
have none, So Jets, j E t S.

Speaker 4 (57:44):
I'm gonna go with the Jets too. And it sounds
like Hassan Reddick got to a billion dollars in Fine
since ready to end his holdout next week.

Speaker 2 (57:50):
Against the Patriots, and they waved him, did they?

Speaker 10 (57:53):
Yeah, he came back, but that won't have any impact today, however,
I will still take the Jets.

Speaker 2 (58:01):
Jets is also the selection for Matt Smith.

Speaker 3 (58:04):
And finally the one in five New England Patriots at
the one in five Jacksonville Jaguars in London Jacksonville minus six.

Speaker 5 (58:11):
Matt already gave his prediction earlier. He said, seventeen fourteen
New England today.

Speaker 4 (58:16):
Yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna go to New England to
twenty three twenty. Think they got to get some stops though.
It might even be higher scoring than that, but I
think the six points too much. I think it'll be
at least closed. But I like the Patriots twenty three twenty.

Speaker 2 (58:28):
You don't so much like the higher scoring than that.

Speaker 7 (58:32):
That score is given me the dick. But I have
the Patriots wining.

Speaker 5 (58:34):
Don't yuck his yum, give me the dick. What do
you have on this one?

Speaker 8 (58:39):
I definitely have the Patriots winning, but not twenty three
twenty Well.

Speaker 4 (58:42):
What do you have?

Speaker 2 (58:42):
High two?

Speaker 4 (58:43):
Nothing? What?

Speaker 2 (58:44):
Yeah, that's a that's a hearty prediction.

Speaker 7 (58:46):
Four to two maybe seventeen fourteen.

Speaker 2 (58:49):
That's what Matt Smith had. Yeah, very original.

Speaker 10 (58:52):
Paul So, after I made fun of myself for picking
a final score that doesn't jive with my over under,
Mike du So just did the same thing.

Speaker 2 (58:59):
Oh, receipt keeper.

Speaker 10 (59:02):
I mean just it just stood out to me because
too early, because it's the same I have the same score.
I just have the other team. I have Jacksonville winning
this game twenty three to twenty. That would be forty
three to the over runt was forty two.

Speaker 2 (59:13):
Mike took the under.

Speaker 4 (59:14):
Yeah, it's called covering your basis, correct.

Speaker 10 (59:17):
I if I think the Patriots could win this game
going away. If Jacksonville shows up with no intensity like
they did in the second half last week. I think
that's a legitimate possibility.

Speaker 2 (59:29):
I'm gonna sort of go.

Speaker 10 (59:30):
On the other side and say that they're gonna play
with a little pride today. Being out there for the
whole week, I think they look at it and say,
we might as well. You know, we're out here, we
might as well make the most of it, might as
well try to win the game. This isn't I think
they're looking at it the same way the Patriots are.
They're one in five, just like us. This is an opportunity.
I think they put their best foot forward. I agree
with Mike's fear of the passing game for Jacksonville today.

Speaker 2 (59:51):
I love Payriots very slight.

Speaker 5 (59:53):
I love Patriots not to cover, but to win it outright.
And you know, they give you a bit of the
ux here. I got them twenty four to seventeen today.

Speaker 4 (59:59):
Boom.

Speaker 2 (01:00:00):
I know, I know, But that's that's what's going to happen.
And we will watch it live here and then we
will be here to talk to you about the game
afterward on the Patriots postgame show.

Speaker 5 (01:00:10):
I hope you'll join us then. Thank you so much
for having me back this week. Guys, this is so
much fun already, can't wait.

Speaker 2 (01:00:16):
To do the time. No one go nowhere. You've got
a three hour postgame show to do.

I’m Jay Shetty host of On Purpose the worlds #1 Mental Health podcast and I’m so grateful you found us. I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose.
